During a science class discussion, the student noticed an improvement in open communication compared to their first discussion. They learned that all humans are inherently selfish and no acts are truly selfless. For example, someone helping an elderly woman carry bags may want praise or something in return rather than purely helping out of kindness. Humans are driven by desires and want to feel good about themselves, which is why people try to act good when they can. The student used the example of donations after the Japanese tsunami, arguing that big donors wanted fame while small donors may hope for future favors given their interests in Japanese culture. However, discussions face limitations when students come from different backgrounds and do not know each other well, making open communication challenging.

We were more open to each other and more communication can be seen, for me more communication means more knowledge gain. I learn that all human are selfish and that no one is doing everything from pure consciousness; Such as an old women, carrying some bags of food, are walking across the road to the other sides, and all of a sudden someone walk straight up to her and ask whether he or she can help carrying her stuff. In my opinion, I think that person is selfish, because he or she may want to help because they can’t stand how slow she is and it annoy them or they may want to get something in return, or wanted to get praise. Human is a desire creatures, they want to gain or receive something that make them field good, and this is why they decides to be a good person as much they as they can be. For me this selfish or self-interest theory is very interesting during the discussion. For my point during the discussion, I have given an example about the Japanese Tsunami which related to people who donated more or less money. People who donate more money tend to do it because they want to be known to the world or wanted to be more popular, or etc. similar to people who donate less money, they may do it for good deeds in the future, or for their own goods; such as because they love some of Japanese properties, materials, foods, technology, etc. therefore these people may want to make sure this countries is save. What I see to be the limitations in the discussion is the fact that because we have different background or culture, it is hard for us to communicate and connected to our culture. And because we do not know each other that much it is hard for us to communicate.<br />
