Day 1 ASSURE 
 Students will be in the first grade with previous knowledge of counting numbers 
and patterns. The classroom will consist of 16 students, 9 girls and 7 boys, 2 with 
ADHD, and 1 with autism. Students will have a previous knowledge of counting, 
addition and subtraction, completing word problems in math, as well as a basic 
knowledge on how to make arts and bots from previous class activities. 
 Students will be able to identify coins and dollar bills and use them in a practical 
sense in exchange of goods. Students will use a variety of digital and physical 
material to begin understanding currency in the United States and other countries. 
Students will be tested along the way by their cumulative knowledge used 
throughout the week’s lesson plans. 
 First to introduce the concept of presidents and how they can relate to money we 
will be reading the book President’s Day while listening to a podcast of the 
book’s contents to help capture vocabulary. Then students will watch a video on 
the book The Coin Counting Book to connect how presidents relate to our money 
in the United States. Then we will look at a poster about more facts on United 
States currency and the faces that can be found on it. 
 Students will have to use the information given in the first day to complete the 
activities given in the following days. As the students progress through the 
materials given in day one they will be asked oral questions inside the readings as 
well as the video provided.
 Students will have access to the digital materials outside the classroom and will 
be asked to review the materials at home before coming to class the next day in 
order to be competent in these subjects.
