Day 4 ASSURE 
 Students will be in the first grade with previous knowledge of counting 
numbers and patterns. The classroom will consist of 16 students, 9 girls 
and 7 boys, 2 with ADHD, and 1 with autism. Students will have a 
previous knowledge of counting, addition and subtraction, completing 
word problems in math, as well as a basic knowledge on how to make arts 
and bots from previous class activities. 
 Students will use their previous knowledge of arts and bots to build and 
develop a functioning robot “piggy bank.” This will not only use the 21st 
century education pillar of math and science but will also instill the action 
of saving money as well as recycling. Students will learn that saving 
money and recycling is important not only in a business but in everyday 
life as well. 
 Students will be responsible for supplying recyclable materials for the 
bots, but the robotics kits will be supplied for them. Computers will be 
used for the programming of the “piggy banks.” 
 All recyclable materials provided must be clean and not have any liquids 
or substances in or on them. 
 The students will be assessed on how well their robots work in relation to 
how they said they were programmed. 
 These robots must not only function in aspects of light, sound, and 
movement, but also in the practicality of how well they hold money for the 
“piggy bank” function of the assignment.
