2. Pre-Production
◦ As this was more to focus on the cinematography, post-production and how to use Final Cut
Pro, we didn’t take into account a lot of the pre-production.
◦ We didn’t change anybodies costume or makeup or anything about the mise-en-scene.
◦ We thought of a short storyline which included Terrance the dinosaur which we used as a prop
as well as a key card to get into the door.
◦ For our actual film opening, we will make sure our makeup, set, props and mise-en-scene is
reflecting what we want to show.
◦ The call sheet is below.
3. Research/Influences
◦ We didn’t take many influences to make this, however we took conventions from many films.
◦ We used specific music to build the tension.
◦ We anchored this suspension with our choice of font – a sans-serif splotchy red font with a
shadow.
◦ For our actual film opening, we would have done a lot more research and have more influences
to follow.
4. Narrative Theory/Structure
◦ Narrative enigma – we created this through not showing the first character immediately
◦ Binary oppositions – there is an aspect of this between the two characters as one is male the
other is female
◦ Equilibrium & Disequilibrium – this is shown when the girl is happily stroking the dinosaur vs
when the boy comes and punches her and takes him away
◦ Proppian archetypes – the male character could be considered the villain, the dinosaur could be
considered the prize and the female could be considered the hero but there is a lack of
exposition at this moment in time
◦ For our actual film opening, we will make sure we focus on each of these aspects to create
something believable.
