1. Risk Assessment:
Location: Possible risk: Level of risk: How to avoid this risk: If it cannot be averted:
Outside, on a residential
street
Cars driving down the street Moderate/High The actors need to be alert at all time and be
aware of cars and other people using the
road/path.
The actors and camera crew may
have to stop filming for this brief time
and wait until the road is safe and
clear again.
Outside, on a residential
street
Uneven path/road Low The actors and the camera need to be aware
at all times and watch their footing at
particularly uneven points in the path/road.
The location for the trailer may have
to be changed or filming may have to
take place on another part of the
path.
Inside, living room Falling objects – falling on
someone
Low The actors and the camera crew should check
the room that they are filming in before they
begin and remove things that are the most
likely to fall.
By removing the possible falling
objects, the risk should be removed.
However, if it does not, the location
for filming may have to be changed.
Inside, doorway Trapping fingers in the door Moderate The risk could be removed by all of the
characters being aware of their surroundings
and where each other are when the door is
due to be slammed.
The scene of having a door slam may
have to be removed and a shot of the
door may be used instead with a
sound effect added in later on in the
editing phase.
Inside, living room Falling objects – falling on
someone
Low The actors and camera crew should check the
room before filming. And remove objects
that are the most likely to fall.
By removing the possible falling
objects, this should remove all
possible risk. However, if not the
location may have to be changed.
Inside, living room Tripping over Low/Moderate The actors and camera crew should check the
room before beginning filming, and should be
aware at all times of the possible risk.
Although unlikely, if the risk cannot
be removed the location may have to
be changed or the events in the scene
may have to be changed.
Inside, living room Carpet Burns Low/Moderate The actor who will be crawling on the floor
should be aware of this issue and should take
regular breaks when filming to stop/reduce
If the risk cannot be removed, the
inclusion of crawling away in the
scene may have to be removed, or
2. the chance of getting carpet burns on their
hands and knees. Especially for the knees,
the actor could cover the area that would be
affected by burns.
the costumes may have to change to
cover both the palms of the hands
and the knees.
Inside, doorway Someone being hit with the door Moderate All actors and members of the camera crew
should be aware of the people around during
the filming of the scene. If possible, the
minimum number of people needed should
be involved in the scene’s filming.
The scene may have to be removed if
the risk is too high or a shot of the
door may be taken and a sound effect
may be added during the editing
process.
Inside, living room Getting fake blood in eyes or
mouth
Moderate The actors using the fake blood need to be
careful when using it. If the blood gets into
someone’s eyes or mouth then they should
rinse the affected are and quickly consult a
doctor.
If the risk cannot be averted, the use
of fake blood as a prop near the face
may have to be addressed or the use
of fake blood at all maybe removed
from the scene.
