Location Recce
During Pursued, I will need to use two locations as the storyline progresses. The first location will
be the outside of Coppice Performing Arts School and the road that leads down to the gates.
Then, the second location will be inside the school.
The area below shows where the young girl willbe walking down when she first tells the audience
about the shadow that is following her. It is a path alongside a road that is surrounded by house
and grass. The path begins by a field and ends at the entrance of the school. Unfortunately, there
may be the issue of traffic passing by as we are trying to film this scene. To avoid this issue
affecting my audio, I will be recording my script after the shoot through the use of a voiceover.
This should allow the issues regarding the audio to be resolved. I may still have an issue with cars
coming into shot but this shouldn’t affect the look of the film that I am trying to achieve as the
focus will be on Emily, regardless of passing cars. There may become an issue with passing
pedestrians if they get in my shots, but we will simply have to stop and reshoot the scene after
they have passed.

Next, the protagonist willenter the school grounds viathe gates locatedat the front of the school.
Depending on the time that I filmthis scene will determine how busy this particular location is. If
I chose to filmbetween 8am and 9am, Monday to Friday then I would be constantly disrupted by
students entering into the school. This would cause multiple difficulties for filming Pursued as I
would have to reshoot the scenea largeamount of times due to interruptions. So, to avoid having
to reshoot the scene this often, I will make sure to film this section of Pursued after 9am (but
before 3pm when the students exit). This way, the number of distractions will be as low as
possible, and the risk of actors or students causing harm to each other will be reduced too. I will,
however, have to ensure the safety of my actors by staying fully aware at alltimes of cars entering
through the gates and onto the school facilities. Potentially an actor could be harmed by a car
entering, but as long as everyone is vigilant and checks before they leave the pavement, this risk
should be minimally low.

As Pursued continues, the protagonist will enter the school building. To do this they will have to
travel through the gate and down the pathway to the reception doors. The actor will once again
have to cross a small road as shown in the first picture below. There could be a risk of the actor
being hit by a car if either they or the driver are not vigalant. I do believe that the risk of this
happening is reasonably low as cars do not pass into the car park very often during school hours.
There is also an area made for students to cross the road so measures will be in place to ensure
everyone is kept as safe as possible. After they have crossed the road they will walk down a
pathway that leads to the reception doors. During the winter this path can sometimes become
extremely slippy due to the icey conditions. However, if this is to happen grit is usually placed on
the ground or an alterative route is found to the doors. This should ensure that everyone is safe
in this circumstance.

After the protagnosist has entered the school they will be shooting a scene in the sixth form
common room. The scene will include a shot of the door from both angles, inside and out. This
door can be seen below. The protagosnit will be entering through this door and then taking a
seat with her friends at one of the tables in the room. There are limited dangers in this room that
I could create a contigency plan for. An actor may suffer a minor injury such as tripping over a
chair leg or shutting their finger in the door, however, the risk of this happening is quite unlikely.
To avoid this, the actors need to be mindful of their actions and stay vigilent.

Finally, the last scene will be filmed in a class room where the protagonist and her friends will be
situated. The actors will enter through the door pictured below and find their seats at the tables.
Once they have done so, the scripts speech will begin. As the room has a door that can be closed
the chances of the scene being interrupted by passers-by is reduced. This in turn reduces the
amount of times I will need to reshoot the scene due to outside disruptions which is good. Once
again, there are minimal risks in the room for actors to harm themselves on. An actor could trip
over a chair or a box that is on the floor, but the risk of this happening is low. To avoid this, chairs
can be tucked under tables when they are not in use and the boxes can be pushed under the
tables out of the way.
