2. What is Dyslexia??
• Also known as reading disabilty.
• Its a learning disorder that involves difficulty in reading.
• It may happen due to problems in identifying speech
sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words
(decoding).

3. Causes of Dyslexia
The most probable causes of Dyslexia are:
• Family history
• Premature birth
• Brain injury(affects the area of brain that processes the
language)
• Cross wiring of Brain nerves

4. Symptoms of Dyslexia
• Late talking.
• Problems remembering or naming letters, numbers and
colors.
• Problems remembering the sequence of things.
• Avoiding activities that involve reading.
• Spending an unusually long time completing tasks that
involve reading or writing.
• Slow and labor-intensive reading and writing.

Text may appear
distorted.
He/She may see letters
backwards or upside down.

• Kids with dyslexia have trouble matching letters with the
sounds they make, and matching words with their
meanings.
• Assign a reading specialist who can make the child learn
how to:
 Sound out letters and words (“phonics”)
 Read faster
 Understand more of what he reads
 Write more clearly
• Orton-Gillingham: This is a step-by-step technique that
teaches kids how to match letters with sounds, and
recognize letter sounds in words.

their senses – touch, sight, hearing, smell, and movement

• Praise them even for small things.
