Left Infosys on 9 July 2009 to serve as the chairperson of the UIDAI, in

“I am generally very articulate but this is not the day or place where I can be
articulate. I've been wrapped up in Infosys for 28 years. My only identity is
Infosys. I will be going to lead a programme to give identity to every Indian. But
today I am losing my identity… But, in my new role, I'm supposed to work with
600 government departments knowing fully well that no two government
departments get along with one other.”

2009- 'Legend in Leadership Award' by the Yale University. He is the first
Indian to receive the top honor.

2006- „Padma Bhushan Award‟ by the Government of India
2005- Joseph Schumpeter Prize for innovative services in economy,
economic sciences and politics
2004- Corporate Citizen of the Year award at the Asia Business Leader
