3. Co-founded in 1981 by 7 Engineers N. R. Narayana
Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, N. S. Raghavan, S.
Gopalakrishnan, S. D. Shibulal, K. Dinesh and Ashok Arora
after they resigned from Patni Computer Systems. The
company was incorporated as "Infosys Consultants Pvt.
Ltd." with a capital of ₹10,000.
The Company changed its name to "Infosys Technologies
Private Limited" in April 1992 and to "Infosys Technologies
Limited" when it became a public limited company in June
1992. It was later renamed to "Infosys Limited" in June 2011
4. In July 2014, Infosys started a product subsidiary called, Edge Verve
Systems., focusing on enterprise software products for business
operations, customer service, procurement and commerce network
domains.
In August 2015, the Finacle Global Banking Solutions assets were
officially transferred from Infosys and became part of the product
company Edge Verve Systems product portfolio.
On 15 January 2016, Infosys had 1,045 clients across 50 countries
Infosys has a global footprint with offices and development centers
across the world
Infosys has a total of 193,383 employees as of 15 January 2016, of which
35% were women
5. Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy (born 20 August 1946),
commonly referred to as Narayana Murthy, is an Indian IT
industrialist and the co-founder of Infosys, a multinational
corporation providing business consulting, technology, engineering,
and outsourcing services. Murthy studied electrical engineering at
the National Institute of Engineering, University of Mysore, and
M.Tech at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
Before starting Infosys, Murthy worked with Indian Institute of
Management, Ahmedabad as chief systems programmer and Patni
Computer Systems in Pune (Maharashtra)
Murthy served as the CEO of Infosys for 21 years from 1981 to 2002
6. Mr. Murthy articulated, designed, and implemented the Global
Delivery Model, which has become the foundation for the huge
success in IT services outsourcing from India. He has led key
corporate governance initiatives in India. He is an IT advisor to
several Asian countries
He serves on the boards of Ford Foundation, United Nations
Foundation and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton,
New Jersey.
He is a member of the President’s Council of the University of
Tokyo.
He has served as a member of the HSBC board and the Unilever
board.
He has served on the boards of Cornell University, Wharton
School, Rhodes Trust and the Graduate School of Business at
Stanford University.
He has also served as the Chairman of the Indian Institute of
Management, Ahmedabad.

In 2014, he was ranked 13th among CNBC’s 25 global business
leaders who have made maximum impact on society during the
last 25 years.
Mr. Murthy is ranked among the top 10 of the Financial Times’ list
of “Business pioneers in technology”, published in March 2015
He is a foreign member of the US National Academy of Engineering and
a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. He is the
recipient of the 2012 Hoover Medal. The Tech Museum, San Jose,
awarded him the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award in 2012.
He received the 2007 Ernst Weber Medal from the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers, USA (IEEE).
He also wrote a book: A Better India: A Better World

9. Nandan Nilekani (born 2 June 1955) is an Indian entrepreneur,
bureaucrat and politician. He was the Chairman of the Unique
Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).[ After a successful career
at Infosys, he headed the Government of India's technology
committee, TAGUP.He is a member of Indian National Congress but
not active in politics as of 2015.
He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from
the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai.
Nilekani in 1978 started his career at the Mumbai-based Patni
Computer Systems, where he met and was interviewed by N.R.
Narayana Murthy. In 1981, Nilekani, Murthy, and five others left
Patni to start their own company, Infosys. Nilekani became the chief
executive officer of Infosys in March 2002 and served as CEO of the
company through April 2007, when he relinquished his position to his
colleague Gopalakrishnan and became co-chairman of the board of
directors.
10. Before assuming leadership as CEO in 2002, Nilekani hold various posts,
including managing director, president, and chief operating officer. He
served as its CEO from March 2002 to April 2007. During his 5-year
tenure as CEO, Infosys' topline grew six fold to $3 billion.
Nilekani left Infosys in July 2009 to serve as the chairman of the Unique
Identification Authority of India, a cabinet-ranking position that he
entered under the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. As
chairman of the UIDAI he is responsible for implementing the
envisioned Multipurpose National Identity Card, or Unique Identity
card (UID Card) project in India. He is a member of the board of
governors of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic
Relations (ICRIER) and the president of NCAER (the premier
independent applied economics research institute in India). He also sits
on several advisory boards, including those of the World Economic
Forum Foundation and the Bombay Heritage Fund.

He was named ‘Corporate Citizen of the Year’ at the Asia Business
Leaders Award, 2004.
In 2005, he received the prestigious Joseph Schumpeter prize for
innovative services in economy, economic sciences, and politics.
In 2006, he was awarded one of India's highest civilian honours, the
Padma Bhushan. In the same year, Nilekani was named
‘Businessman of the Year’ by Forbes Asia.
The Time magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential
people in the world in 2006 and 2009.
He is the author of 'Imagining India' that discusses his ideas for
India’s future. The book was one of the finalists in the FT-Goldman
Sachs Book Award for 2009.
The Foreign Policy magazine listed him as one of the Top 100 Global
Thinkers in 2010.
He also won The Economist Social & Economic Innovation Award in
2014 for leading UIDAI (Aadhaar).
