4. Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy is the Chairman of
the Board and Chief Mentor of Infosys
Technologies Limited.
He was born on August 20, 1946 in Karnataka,
India.
He obtained his B.E. degree from University of
Mysore in 1967 and his M.Tech. from IIT,
Kanpur in 1969.
He founded Infosys in 1981 along with six
software professionals.
5. His first position was at IIM
Ahmedabad as chief systems
programmer.
After IIM Ahmedabad, he then
joined Patni Computer Systems in Pune.
Before moving to Mumbai, Murthy met
his wife Sudha Murthy in Pune who at the
time was an engineer working at Tata
Engineering and Locomotive Co. Ltd.
(Telco, now known as Tata Motors) in
Pune.
6. In 1981, he founded Infosys with six other
software professionals.
He served as president of the National
Association of Software and Service
Companies, INDIA from 1992 to 1994.
Under his leadership, Infosys was listed on
NASDAQ in 1999. He served as the
Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief
Mentor from 2002 to 2006.
Infosys was also ranked No. 14 among the
most respected companies in the world by
Reputation Institute's Global Pulse 2008.
