ABOUT 4YUP:-
 First and foremost, the Delhi University's Four Year Undergraduate Programme(FYUP) which will be
implemented July 2013 onwards is clearly a dream project of the United Progressive Alliance.
It has been formulated in such a way that it will be in sync with the American system of education so that
American universities can come and set shops in India.
The former minister of Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal had made announcements about
improving the Indian higher education system jointly with the US secretary of state Hillary Clinton at the first
ever Indo-US Education Summit held at Washington DC in October 2011.
 Let's take a look at the three-fold aim of the Four Year Undergraduate Programme.
 It promises to bring an interdisciplinary approach to education.
 It will give the student more options to specialise in and
 It will help improve employability skills.
Structure of four year undergraduate
programme
STRUCTURE OF 4YUP:-

college after two years, DU shall acknowledge your education and award you a
diploma. You can return to DU in the future to complete your education.
 Similarly,if you wish or have to leave after three years, DU shall give you a
Bachelor’s degree with a Major (subject). Needless to say after 4 years you
would be awarded a Bachelor Honours/B.Tech with your Major (subject).
 You will be happy to learn that after admissions if you choose to participate in a
sports related activity (or the N. C. C. /N. S. S. Extra or Co –Curricular activity)
you will be able to gain credit for your chosen Honours/B.Tech degree for this
sports/NCC/NSS Extra (co) Curricular activity.
 You will be exposed to the challenges of India and you will gain better insight
into your chosen subject of study for which you have the chance to earn an
Honours/B.Tech degree.
 You will be provided free laptops for your first year of study and you will be given
special language, communication, IT, data analysis and science and life skills in
a gentle user friendly practical manner.
 In the new FourYear Undergraduate Programme, you will have great flexibility
and wide ranging choices.
 This new programme is designed to combine knowledge with practical skills.
 You will thus be better equipped to get employment or become an entrepreneur
or go for higher end research based studies.
DISADVANTAGES OF FOUR YEAR
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME
 The costs involved with attending and graduating from an
undergraduate program have long been the biggest deterrent for
prospective students.
 There are some who simply cannot afford to attend a four-year college,
or have parents who would have to sacrifice a great deal to make it
happen.
 According to the Dept. of Education, $8,655 is the average cost per year
for a four-year public in-state undergraduate school, including room
and board.

  • 4. ABOUT 4YUP:-  First and foremost, the Delhi University's Four Year Undergraduate Programme(FYUP) which will be implemented July 2013 onwards is clearly a dream project of the United Progressive Alliance. It has been formulated in such a way that it will be in sync with the American system of education so that American universities can come and set shops in India. The former minister of Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal had made announcements about improving the Indian higher education system jointly with the US secretary of state Hillary Clinton at the first ever Indo-US Education Summit held at Washington DC in October 2011.  Let's take a look at the three-fold aim of the Four Year Undergraduate Programme.  It promises to bring an interdisciplinary approach to education.  It will give the student more options to specialise in and  It will help improve employability skills.

  • 9. DISADVANTAGES OF FOUR YEAR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME  The costs involved with attending and graduating from an undergraduate program have long been the biggest deterrent for prospective students.  There are some who simply cannot afford to attend a four-year college, or have parents who would have to sacrifice a great deal to make it happen.  According to the Dept. of Education, $8,655 is the average cost per year for a four-year public in-state undergraduate school, including room and board.
