Kata traditio merupakan etimologi atau asal kata dari bahasa
Latin tradêrê yang artinya jatuh ke bawah, yang dapat diartikan
sebagai mewariskan. Sesuatu yang digunakan untuk kebiasaan
masyarakat yang diwariskan secara turun temurun (Salim,
1991; Finalti, 2012).Musik tradisional dapat diartikan sebagai
bagian dari seni budaya yang tumbuh dan berkembang pada
wilayah khusus yang berlangsung turun temurun dan antar
generasi. Walaupun demikian, musik tradisional tidaklah berarti
sudah lapuk, kuno namun musik yang memiliki ciri serta
keunikan kultur sesuatu etnik tertentu (Purba, 2007). Dari
uraian di atas musik tradisi merupakan wujud nilai budaya yang
mengangkat tema-tema kehidupan dalam tradisi setempat.

Musik TradisionalMusik tradisional sebagai perwujudan identitas dari

mencerminkan adat dan budaya dengan fungsi dalam memaknai
budaya masyarakat (Merriam, 1964)Musik tradisional merupakan

secara turun temurun.

Sio Mama (Maluku)Syair lagu "Sio Mama" pada
dasarnya berisikan serta mencerminkan perasaan dan
adab seseorang anak pada orang tuanya. Hal tersebut
ditunjukkan dengan kenangan dikala ibu berjuang tanpa
lelah membesarkannya. Juga bagaimana perasaan
anak ini yang merasa belum mampu membalas jasa ibu
tercinta, pada syair "Beta balom balas mama, mama
pung cape sio doloe" dimana pengertiannya adalah aku
belum sanggup membalas segala pengorbanan dan
letih yang diberikan oleh ibu. Hal yang tidak kalah
pentingnya dalam pengungkapan cinta kasih seorang

Tembang "Tokecang" merupakan sebuah singkatan dari
Tokek Makan Kacang yang mengingatkan bahwa
makan banyak atau makan berlebihan tidak baik, sebab
hal ini melambangkan kerakusan atau keserakahan
sehingga tidak memiliki kepedulian terhadap orang lain
