2. Safety Rules and Regulations
• A person who is new to plant tissue culture laboratory has to
undergo certain orientation programmes to equip himself
with the Knowledge of laboratory.
• Various instructions to operate equipments like pH meter,
balance, microscope and other various instruments.

3. Rules
• First aid kits should be kept in laboratory and the staff should
know its location and how to use its contents.
• A fire extinguisher must be there .
• Ornaments and footwear should be kept
outside in the laboratory.

4. • Long hair must be tied up and nails must be trimmed to
prevent contamination.
• Eating and drinking in the laboratory and leaning on the
working table should be avoided.
• An autoclaved or UV sterilized apron should be worn .
• Hands must be washed thoroughly before beginning aseptic
work.

5. • Toxic chemicals must be treated with precaution and
discarded into separate labelled containers.
• Do not work with UV light on.UV light should be put only for
15 mins prior starting of any culture work.
• Exposure of body parts to UV even for 15-30 mins can cause
severe irritation and itching of the skin. In worst cases , there
is danger of losing your eye sight.

6. • Body and head of the person working in laminar flow cabinet
should be outside the hood.
• HEPA filters must be covered once the work is over.
• Maintenance of photoperiod, temperature and humidity as
per the settings should be checked periodically.
• Laboratory must be kept clean and microbe free
environment should be maintained

7. • The person working must have his gloves on and a mask to
avoid contamination.
