1. Matt and Kim
Matt Johnson & KimSchifino are an American indie pop duo/couple from
Brooklyn, New York called „Matt and Kim‟. The group formed in 2004 after
meeting at Pratt Institute where they began dating, both not being able to play
their respective instruments at the time. They wanted to learn how to purely for
knowledge, not having any ambition of creating a band. However when they
began getting the hang of their sound, their friends forced them to perform live.
After this Matt and Kim took off.

2. After they realised people actually listened to them, they
started playing as frequently as possible, in anywhere they
would be aloud to play. They confined their shows to many
basements and other such venues but this didn‟t hinder their
performances and they began accumulating a wide fan base.
This inspired them to start recording their music so that their
fans could take it home and listen to it freely.
They then made an EP called To/From, which increased their
fan base and they continued to play as often as possible. This
EP was released in 2005.

The clip became a viral success, being bounced off of YouTube
temporarily, which only heightened awareness. By September
13, 2009 though, "Lessons Learned" had won the Breakthrough
award at the2009 Video music Awards. In 2009, their song
"Daylight" was featured in a Bacardi commercial, a Mars Bar
commercial, and the second episode of Community.
