couldn't believe that I was finally in the golden city of miracles. It's all rather unbelievable to think this all happened because my mother saw an advert
that displayed malnourished Africans within South Africa. I guess it touched my mother's heart. My family and I were here on a mission to change the
lives of poor South Africans, but however, as a 14–year–old kid I truthfully didn't want to go to South Africa to help poor people. I only wanted to go to
enjoy myself, and meet new people.
Walking out of the airport was quite an amazing feeling. The lighting over in South Africa couldn't compare to nothing I have even seen before. We
jumped in a taxi to get to the hotel to drop off our luggage. My mother booked a 5–star hotel deep in Cape Town, and as we were driving towards the

In this poem Serote speaks of the difficulties created for black people by the law which required them to carry a pass at all times, it also speaks of
restrictions it placed on black people.

It appears that Serote repeats the words 'Jo' Burg City' many times throughout the poem, this suggests that he was very familiar with the city as he
has been there so long. The writer uses similes such as 'my hand like a starved snake rears my pockets'. This simile shows how nervous he is because
he is looking for his pass, it also has a lot of depth to it because if you imagine a starved shake clenching onto a piece of food. In the same way you can

In 2004 my dad, brother and I planned a trip with our South African friend, Fritz, to visit his home country. He acted as unofficial tour guide and

persevering, and forgiving. He changed the course of history for South African people by opposing apartheid– with his efforts resulting in the end of

1994– also known as Apartheid. The movie was filmed entirely in South Africa and is about an alien spaceship that stalled above Johannesburg
twenty years before the movie takes place. On the spaceship is helpless and starving aliens, also known as "prawns" due to their love of scavenging
and their physical appearance. The word "prawn" actually comes from the "parktown prawn", which is a cricket down in South Africa that is considered
a pest. The aliens were hauled together in an area known as "District 9". The film is presented in a found footage format by featuring some fictional
