Although consumers noticed it but decided to go along with it as far as the company does not tingles with prices.
So ultimately company adopted alternate thinking of cutting prices involved and these measures were buying of manufacturing units near to the
wholesalers and by franchising the production. Forward contracts were introduced to reduce supply chain costs and addition to all this wax coated
paper had been replaced by BOPP paper to reduce cost. With entry of competitors like Britania, HUL and ITC Ltd the situation is getting more
complex day by day for the Parle G. Any wrong decision from Parle can have daring consequences for their flagship product Parle G.
The dilemma of December 2009:
A price hike seemed like a necessity to restore the margins; a hike in the price had the potential to increase the margin by 50% and to restore the
previous level of 15%. But the previous experience of price hike had already given a bad experience to Parle. The problem with Parle is its VFM
image, companies build brand equity in order to deflect the focus of customers from the price. They don't mind loosening their wallets for a brand
which delivers a value on a dimension perceived by them. Parley needs to come out of its perilous VFM image and secondly the dependence on a
single brand and a single SKU. Parley G contributes 68% of the annual sales revenue of Parley and the INR 4.00 SKU was contributing to 50 % of
Parley G's annual sales revenue.

Establishing A Leadership Philosophy Helps Guide Actions,...
All leaders wield a certain significant level of influence within their organizations or over their followers based upon their own personal philosophy.
Being a leader without considering on a personal level key values that one finds important can result in inconsistent outcomes. Establishing a leadership
philosophy helps guide actions, behaviors and thoughts. Aleadership philosophy is developed through a combination of internal and external forces that
impact an individual over their lifetime. There have been a number of theories formulated that attempt to explain what the traits of a successful leader
consists of. One theory is that certain traits such as extraversion, intelligence, openness, conscientiousness, and experience are often ... Show more

By constantly reflecting on how a leaders actions impact their followers a successful leader can recognize their assumptions and learn how they, as
leaders, react to certain situations. Patti Clayton, a faculty member for North Carolina State University and article writer for the journal On the Horizon
states, "the value of reflection on experience as a way to enhance learning has been advanced since the days of Dewey (1910), who noted that such
reflection is key not only to improved understanding, but also to more informed and effective action. Learning through reflection on the
implementation of innovative pedagogies, especially those that are themselves grounded in reflection on experience" (Clayton). To develop and grow
as a leader it is important that reflection occurs. Personally, I have reflected on both the positive and negative significant events in my life. I have
attempted to recognize the meaning of each event and somehow identify how I could grow as a result. I take the time out of my schedule every three
days to reflection my actions that I think are significant to me or anyone that I have come in contact with. Reflection for me is more than talking and
thinking about past experiences. Rather, it is a total emotional and physical effort in attempts to understand how such significant events have helped
shape who we are as

Employee Attitude
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY An attitude is a hypothetical construct that represents an individual's degree of like or dislike for an item.
Attitudes are generally positive or negative views of a person, place, thing, or eventā€“ā€“ this is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be
conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive and negative attitudes toward the item in question.
Attitude: The importance of attitude in understanding psychological phenomenon was given formal recognition early in the history of social psychology
. From the time of the concept's entry in to the language of psychology until now, interest in attitude has been strong and growing. ... Show more content

2. Egoā€“Defensive: The egoā€“defensive functions of attitude acknowledge the importance of psychological thought. Attitude may be acquired by facing
threats in the external world or becoming aware of his own unacceptable impulses.
3. Value Orientation: The valueā€“orientation function takes in to account attitudes that are held because they express a person's selfā€“image, or bycues
that engage the person's values and make them salient to him.
4. Knowledge: The knowledge function of attitude is based on a person's need to maintain a stable, organized and meaningful structure of the world.
5. Attitude that provides a standard against which a person evaluates the aspects of his world and serve as the knowledge function too. These functions
of attitudes affect the individual's way of interpreting the information coming to him. Since attitudes intervene between work requirements and work
responses, information about how people feel about their jobs can be quite useful in the predication about work response. Thus, these types of attitudes
can portray areas of investigation for making the individual and the organization more compatible.
Factors in Attitude Formation: The attitudes are learned. Though there are different approaches as how learning works and is acquired by an
individual, generally it is held that individuals learn things from the environment in which they interact. Thus, for attitude formation, all these factors

A company might purchase an interest in another company in order to establish a presence in a specific industry or might attempt to purchase a large

Treasury Stock Is A Process Of Accounting
Treasury stock is a process of accounting that dates back as early as 1720. The concept of treasury stock originated when "companies discovered
that they could sell shares at an unrealistically low price equal to par value incorporators, who in turn donated those shares back to the company. As a
result these shares, which had already been issued though not outstanding could be sold at whatever the real market price was without adjusting for
stated capital" 2. There is however, not one securely agreed upon definition, as over the years there has been a lack of unanimity as to just what
should be included under the term. One commonly accepted and simple definition was stated by late Professor Glenn "of course it is a stock that has
been issued and later reacquired by the same company". Another generally accepted definition that goes into more detail was stated by Fletcher, he
defines it as "Treasury stock is as its name implies, it is a stock held by the corporation in its treasury to be used or disposed of by the company in
the furtherance of corporate purposes, but the courts are not in accord as to how or what procedure shares of stock acquire or take on the status of
treasury stock. The courts are agreed that such stock is the personal property of the corporation to be disposed of by the company on such terms as it
chooses. A difference in opinion arises as to whether treasury stock is an "asset" or "property" 6. Some of the confusion regarding the nature of
treasury stock

Arguments Against Utilitarianism
As a philosophical approach, utilitarianism generally focuses on the principle of "greatest happiness". According to the greatest happiness principle,
actions that promote overall happiness and pleasure are considered as right practices. Moreover, to Mill, actions which enhance happiness are morally
right, on the other hand, actions that produce undesirable and unhappy outcomes are considered as morally wrong. From this point of view we can
deduct that utilitarianism assign us moral duties and variety of ways for maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain to ensure "greatest happiness
principle". Despite all of moral duties and obligations, utilitarian perspective have many specific challenges that pose several serious threats which ...

109). The issue is like double edged sword to compare with. From one point of view Mill states that individuals always act in a sense to maximize
overall happiness. It means that irrespective of aims and motives, people have to act to increase and maximize overall happiness. From another point of
view which again Mill states our ninetyā€“nine percent actions are practiced and more importantly 'motivated by other values'. Nevertheless, attaining
overall happiness issue for greatest happiness mismatched with reality and the theory. Sanctions about demanding issue which considers always
people be motivated in order to maximize overall benefit idea and personal aims which may differ from idealized motives to improve overall
happiness. If it is taken into consideration that two variety of perspectives about demanding issue from motivation point of view and Mill's defense to
this idea, demanding criteria pose a challenge to utilitarianism.
Secondly, it is challenged that utilitarianism demand us to measure and calculate all of our actions which were gained by past experience and
practices for Mill to reach greatest happiness principle. Although Mill defends like "There has been ample time, namely, the whole past duration of the
human species. During all that time, mankind have been learning by experience and tendencies of actions..." (p. 113) to make a decision and advices
following past experiences to practice an action to maximizing overall happiness criteria, however,

Leadership Is Something That Should Be Paid
I believe that leadership is something that should be earned. Whoever is the most qualified and passionate should be the person who leads, not the
most popular. I believe that having integrity and expecting it at all times from your team is the best way to operate. I believe that leaders cannot
always be the "good guys" in every situation. I believe that it is important to find people who will help you most achieve your goal, but ones who are
loyal, passionate, and want to grow personally. Mutual respect in any situation will allow for people to speak their minds, even if it is difficult. I want
to help my team members find their passions and help them succeed outside of our organization. I believe that leadership is about encouraging others to
buy into your values, and cheering them on when they gain recognition for their work. Being a leader was never something that I had to think
about. I knew that leaders existed and that they were important to how businesses and companies ran their operations, but other than that I never
consciously decided that I was going to be a leader when I was younger. As I grew up and found myself getting more involved with my community,
I realized that I was acting like a leader even though I didn't feel like I was acting any different than my normal self. My demeanor, leadership
learning moments, and mentors all helped me to find my "leadership voice", and it has allowed me to grow into who I am as a leader. My parents

The Theory : Deontology, Consequentialism, And Virtue Ethics
2. Alternative that I chose
Under all three theories ā€“ deontology, consequentialism, and virtue ethics, providing my customers all information that I was aware of should be the
most appropriate course of action that I should perform. In this situation, I chose to do so, but I did not have an openly communication with my
manager about my ethical dilemma.
3. Context
In the past, as employees in an organization, we were expected to follow what our employers said without expressing our opinion. However, the age of
social medial today brought us opportunities to speak up and broadcast when we see something wrong. This aligns the value on doing work with our
personal values when we know our own values and how to giving voice to them. In order to beginning to voice values effectively, we should know
ourselves, know our organization, commit to voice, practice, and look for openings, enlist allies.
Knowing myself, I am an introverted person and I am not willing to share my opinion to others if I assume that they will not agree with me. When I
face an ethical dilemma, I tend to struggle with it by myself before consulting with others. Therefore, I did not discuss about the unethical suggestion of
my manager with him, but I decided to provide full information about the project to my customers. I know that my firm wants to create and maintain
customer values, but it seems that the shortā€“term benefits from the Thu Do JSC's project diverted my firm's goal from building and maintaining

I Am A Better Person Who Has Changed My Own Potential
At the beginning of this course, I kept calling it a "therapy" course. I was under the impression I was going to come out of the class a better person
who has taken the time to make changes and reflect. However, as the course progressed I recognized that the class is what you put into it. The class
wasn't going to change me by doing these activities, but it was how these activities challenged me shift my priorities and simply become more aware.
The only change that was going to be made was if I saw the need for it and I was committed. I think the course overall encouraged us, the students, to
become more selfā€“aware in many different aspects of our lives. In my case, I think I gained the most from the constant discussion of the importance of
reflection and consciousness. Although, we focused on certain topics throughout the semester like time management, diet, and gender issues; I think
the main objective was to improve my connection with myself and to realize my own potential. I believe that each person should gain something
different by the end of the semester because the discussions and activities all have a varying affects. I assume that the level of immersion from students
differed depending on the activity and how the student determined its importance. However, I would think that everyone in class, including myself, is
able to be more open, honest, and truthful with myself. Additionally, I think this course emphasized the importance for students to always strive to

A Man For All Seasons, And Elia Kazan 's On The Waterfront
Only fools follow their standard of personal integrity. Discuss.
Values and morals are often instilled in people as they grow up, but the extent to which one chooses to follow these principles can be greatly swayed
by how strong their sense of personal integrity is. As individuals are exposed to an array of varying perspectives and multiple values, one 's own
certainty about the interpretation or application of a particular principle may lessen, opening up the possibility of accepting an alternative position.
Robert Bolt's play, 'A Man For All Seasons', andElia Kazan's 'On the Waterfront', we see that integrity is impossible without a conscience guided by
long reflection upon the inner character of justice.
Bolt's ethical protagonist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bolt's lead character is a man of strict moral righteousness; he never once wavered, which consequently leads to his fall from grace and untimely
death. More is not setting out to be a hero or martyr. He is a lawyer and sees the law as a way to live peacefully in the world. From his choices, it is
evidently clear that More is no simple common man. He treads the road that only a few mortals would dare travel down to. His critics see his morality
as impractical but for More, his conscience is the only thing "(he) believes to be true". As a man of virtue, More stands alone in the play. Surrounded
by a cast of seemingly weak and basic characters, More's morality is even more manifest. Such characters as Richard Rich and the Common Man
demonstrate how most normal individuals will be guided by their needs, not their consciences. Rich is intoxicated with avarice and believes that
materialistic items such as clothes and money will gain him the respect and power that he 'rightly deserves'. More conversely knows well that respect
and admiration cannot be brought and that the integrity of men is to be measured by conduct and not their satisfaction of hubris.
It is obvious that More understands the nuance of every political move, as he mentions what would happen if Wolsey falls. He conveys his
competence by his careful handling of events. Because of his intellectual prowess, More has managed to keep the people he cares around him safe by
using the words of the law 'in

Quelch, 2006). Over two decades the company enlarged and served over 20 million unique customers in over 5,000 stores around the world. Their
brand strategy could best be described as 'live coffee', which meant creating an 'experience' around the consumption of coffee that fitted into people 's
everyday lives (Moon & Quelch, 2006). Three components were fundamental for their branding strategy. First of all, the coffee itself which should
represent the highestā€“quality coffee in the world, derived from Africa, Central and South America, and the Asiaā€“Pacific regions (Moon & Quelch,
2006). Secondly, the atmosphere should be inviting and make customers feel comfortable. The ambiance in stores should make customers want to stay

customers, and aims at building customer loyalty (Moon & Quelch, 2006). The employees ā€“ called 'partners' ā€“ are

The Good Life Is Life
The good life is life that should be focused on it's true denotation, a present body life, not an afterlife. A key aspect of the good life is that it puts
goals, dreams, and aspirations in the main focus. The good life is not a refusal of God and eternity, rather places the religious ideas in the background
to allow for full pleasure by the individual. In addition, the good life cherishes the small things in life and places importance on the finite, at risk,
unique parts in the journey of an individual. Furthermore, in making sure to not unā€“properly empathize the "small things" in life, the good life in its
whole values the daily "grind" and experiences and aims to avoid becoming attached to material, fragile objects. Montaigne says "In my opinion,
the most ordinary things, the most commonplace and best known can constitute, if we know how to present them in the right life, the greatest of
nature's miracles." (Montaigne, 1227) Both philosophers are trying to find the best way to view life and use their work to try to get there. Overall,
the good life shares aspects of both philosophies of Boethius and Montaigne. But, in looking at this idea in this work, the good life accepts and
rejects pieces of the two philosophies and follows itself more with the ideals of Montaigne. First, Montaigne writes in On Experience, "death is a
future of our being" and this is aligned with the good life because it accepts the notion of death and allows the individual to worry less about death

The Day of His Life Essay
The Day of his Life
It is twoā€“thirty in the morning, and Alex is still awake in his hotel room. The excitement of the events today are too thrilling and stressful to get sleep.

Alex takes some time to muster all of the discs he received to see (Infinitive) what he will use today. With 15 minutes left before the player meeting,
Alex decided to quickly chow down on all the free food but first he must join the queue of people waiting to get the food. As he sits down in the
seating provided, the tournament director welcomes everyone to this year's tournament and then begins to harangue the crowd. Usually Alex never
listens to the tournament director at all his other tournaments because he is normally talking with his coterie; but today was different because he was
alone and he wanted to win. After the Director was done speaking, the ambiance was exciting and fun but nervousness was also in the air. Going to his
hole, Alex remembered all the training he did to win this, he remembers all his work with his ballistics trainer and his irascible disc golf coach. As
he gets to his hole Alex laconically says to his group, "Let's do this!" It was Hole One and Alex was first. He quietly looked at the hole and
instantly his nervousness went away; the world slowed and the harrowing monster (Participial) inside of him let loose as he threw the disc as
propulsive as he could through the air. The disc flew through the air like it was nothing. it was beautiful; almost perfect as it flew past a myriad of
trees and it firmly hit the chains and landed in the basket! The crowd of people watching

An Examination of Genders in World Regions
In societies past and present, there have been a variety of ways in which the genders have valued. Although the regions of our world value different
icons, gods, or elements, there is one thing in which all cultures value, and that is the people of their society. Since people are high on a culture's
priority list, they value people in different way. Some cultures decide that one sex is superior over the other. Although everyone is valued, there are
certain times when some sexes are favored over the other. There have been many primary documents which show us which sex the different cultures
value. This will show us that around the world people are not valued the same. This will give us an insight on who these different worldly people value.

In the Chinese culture it was shown what a gentleman can do to help himself. In the Indian culture, it shows what a woman can do to help save herself.
In the Indian culture, there is a ceremony called sati. Sati can be described as a traditional burning of the wife. This only occurs after her husband has
passed away and the wife throws herself into the burning flames which have engulfed her husband's remains. If a wife participated in this
ceremony she is considered faithful to her husband. It is said that, "The wife who enters into the fire when her husband dies, imitating Arundahati,
(a star, regarded as the wife of one of the Seven Rishies, and as a typical faithful spouse) in her behavior, enjoys bliss in heaven." This will not only
free her soul but also her husband's soul. She is also considered saving herself when she leaps into the fire. In those times, being a widow is
miserable. This is shown as, "There is no other misery for women like, widowhood. Happy is she among women who dies before her husband." It
says that she will be just as happy as any woman who has died before her husband. While she is saving herself and her husband, she is also saving
three of her families. It is said that, "A woman who follows after her husband shall surely purify three families: her mother's, her father's, and that into
which she was given in marriage." She

Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay
First: Equity
Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity.
Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not.
Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock can (depending on the issue) be converted to
common stock and have access to accumulated dividends and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case
of liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt
Debt can be "purchased" from a company in the form of a bond.
A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain amount, with interest, to the bondholder.
# Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital) stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e.,
they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a
defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding indefinitely

United States And The Modern World
Every minute, 30 football field sized sections of forests are cut downā€“and that is just from illegal harvesting ("Corruption and the Environment"). The
modern world has become so reliant on wood products that at the current rate of deforestation there will soon be no forests left to enjoy. Governments
refrain from making their clearā€“cutting plans public to avoid scrutiny. With governments very unlikely to change their policies, unless monetary gain is
guaranteed, it is on the people of the United States and the rest of the world to reinforce positive environmental consciousness. If people were to
become aware of the consequences to living extravagant lifestyles, more natural resources would be conserved for future generations.

Trees are becoming a scarcer resource everyday, thus planting trees not only saves homeowners money, but also positively affects the environment
around them. In order to create a healthier, more financially stable society, and to reduce unnecessary energy emissions from properties, homeowners,
realtors and developers must consolidate to reduce home sizes and create larger, more environmentally sustainable outdoor landscapes.
Since the inflation of the United States dollar continues to rise every year, housing prices in relation to the peak of the market in 2006 are at a
standstill, or even are decreasing in many cities. The housing market has fully recovered from the devastation of 2006. Currently, homes in San
Francisco are worth, on average, almost 15% more than in 2008. Unfortunately, due to inflation the majority of the value in the housing market has
decreased since the mortgage fallout, by 19.4% ("American House Prices"). The housing market peaked just before the collapse of 2006, mainly
because banks became greedy and did not check the majority of their clients credit scores. As the time passed, banks soon realized that their plans were
not unfolding as planned. The Washington Post estimated that at the time of the fallout 1 in 5 mortgage holders had below average credit. In many
banks, whole empires were controlled by "subprime mortgages". This meant homebuyers who had poor credit scores dictated the

David Boonin Argument Analysis
As it was presented earlier, David Boonin's interest based argument has three major elements: 1) A modified futureā€“likeā€“ours account of Don Marquis,
2) Relationship between desires and right to life, and 3) Organized cortical brain activity as a necessary condition for the onset of consciousness. It is
the first two elements which are of major concern here.
David Boonin modifies Marquis futureā€“likeā€“ours argument and converts it to a desire based account, before developing his analytical distinction of
desires that has been shown earlier. Once "values" and "desires" are used interchangeably (which itself raises concerns), the idea that the foetus values
its future or comes to value its future can be restated as that which a foetus desires, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, it is not the property of the valuable future that is morally significant. It is the desire for a valuable future which is morally important. Second,
there is an implicit emphasis on the present. The foetus in this new version desires in the present that its future be preserved. In the original version
the foetus will come to value its future. In fact, the focus on the present is perhaps one of the reasons Boonin has to focus on desires. What drives
Boonin to focus on the present is that the morally significant property that would confer the status of personhood on the foetus must be actually
present in the foetus for it to qualify as a person. If it is a potential property, an essential property or even a capacity for a potential property, then
Boonin will not be able to argue against those who support the foetus inviolability from the moment of conception. Boonin must show that the foetus is
not inviolable before they start to have present conscious desires. Since he is basing his argument on Marquis' futureā€“likeā€“ours argument, any
modification of the original argument to the present conscious desires version must be done in such a way that the same criteria applies to infants,
suicidal teenagers, temporary comatose adults as well as the foetus. In order for the argument to work on all these cases, Boonin creates the analytical
distinctions between the occurrent vs dispositional desires and actual vs ideal desires, as presented earlier, to say that it is the property of only
"present ideal dispositional conscious desires" that is a morally significant property for personhood. Once the foetus meets the conditions necessary of
conscious desires, that is from the onset of advanced organised cortical brain activity, a foetus can have present ideal dispositional conscious

Participatory Action Research At A Public New England...
In the case study about Participatory Action Research (PAR) in a public New England middle school, researchers attempted to implement the PAR
approach into a program that moves students who are behind 1 year, at an accelerated rate ā€“ 3 years of school over the course of 2 years ā€“ allowing
them to be in the appropriate grade for their age group. The accelerated program was called Higher Academic Achievement Program (HAAP). Two
teachers and their classes participated in the research, taking on the PAR approach two days a week, while continuing their normal academic schedule
the rest of the week. The HAAP program was a very traditional and strict program. The academic schedule was to be abided by profusely to ensure that
students were being properly prepared for their state exams. While the actual teaching style of the teachers differed, their traditionalistic teaching views
were shared. Both students, teachers, and administrators were assessed and interviewed at the conclusion of the study to report feedback about the
successes, weaknesses, opinions, and criticisms about PAR. While the program has a unique and engaging approach, there were several large
complications in appropriately implementing PAR into the HAAP program.
First, in implementing the PAR program, researchers did not assess the fit between the program and the setting as extensively as required. This is the
first factor that researchers should fully look into before proceeding with placing a program into a new

Is the embedded derivative closely related? In the event it is, the contract cannot be bifurcated and must be considered as a whole, though ASC
815ā€“40ā€“15ā€“2 discusses contracts that are indexed to and potentially settled in an entity's stock. Additionally, ASC 815ā€“15ā€“35ā€“2 offers an alternative
solution if the embedded derivative cannot be reliably measured or identified, and that is to assign a fair value to the entire contract, with gains and
losses across reporting periods flowing through earnings. ASC 480ā€“10ā€“10ā€“1 gives the objective of ASC 480 as the requirement to classify as a liability
a freestanding financial instrument that embodies obligations for the issuer. It states in ASC 480ā€“10ā€“15ā€“3 that freestanding financial instrument could
include one with traits of equity and liability. It places a restriction on these instruments in ASC 480ā€“10ā€“15ā€“5 by disallowing features embedded in a
financial instrument that is not, in its entirety, a derivative, making the use of ASC 480 an allā€“orā€“nothing proposition since the guidance encompasses
the financial instrument in its entirety (ASC 480ā€“10ā€“25ā€“1). The contract between Hearts and Bionic contains obligations as defined by the ASC 480
that are conditional and/or unconditional, such as the contingent redemption right. ASC 480ā€“20ā€“30ā€“7 requires fair value for financial instruments

Analysis Of The Book ' Little Red Cap ' By Angela Carter
Fairytales subvert, challenge or reaffirm archetypal values through didactic lenses. The presence of universal themes allows for an examination of
contextual shifts and by being malleable in nature, can be made relevant to different audiences. The Brothers Grimm 's "Little Red Cap", Angela
Carter's 'The Company of Wolves" and Tommy Wirkola 's film, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" all promote their hegemonic ideologies and as
'cultural artefacts' extrapolate the contextual values of their time period. Carl Jung 's theory of the 'Collective Unconscious" ensures that each of these
fairytale adaptations can retain their archetypal value and thus remain significant and relevant in contemporary circumstances.
The Brother Grimm's 19th Century Fairytale, "Little Red Cap" reflects the hegemonies of its context through its cautionary justification. Grimm's work
reflected the importance of German national cohesion under French occupation and the view towards foreigners as destructive usurpers. "Little Red
Cap" was adapted for instructional purposes, specifically aimed at a children 's audience. Initially in the tale, the subversion of Perrault's depiction of
the girl is evident exemplifying her as a "sweet" little girl and the hyperbolic "everybody loved her instantly on first sight" demonstrates the engrained
virtue of her youth. The instruction for Little Red Cap to "not stray from the path" foreshadows the inherent danger associated with a misguided
venture. The symbolism of

Personal Statement : My Best Friend
Every single individual has a set of values that are dear to them and and as individuals we tend to live our lives by these particular standards or
principals and we all find things to have different levels of importance. The values i chose include friendship, happiness, dedication, adventure
/exploration and curiosity. The firstvalue I focused on was friendship and I find that to be an extremely important part of life. To find certain people
that love you for who you are and will always be looking out for you, those are the people that you want to keep in your life forever. On my visual I
have three different picture of my best friends and I would never wish for anything else because they are the most wonderful people in my life.
Developing a friendship takes time and it takes time to trust and feel comfortable with people but when you have those people forever you will
truly be happy, or at least thats how I feel about it. So those of two of the most important people in my life and they always will be. The next value
I chose was happiness and I found a really cool smiling sun image that I found to be perfect. I find the sun to be a universal image of happiness
because of its bright color and the warmth it provides. One of the most important things in life is to make sure that you find happiness and to make
sure that you are content with your life. It doesn 't matter what you do with your life or what kind of job you have because as long as you are happy
with what you

My Thoughts On What Culture Truly Essay
My thoughts on what culture truly is have changed tremendously after taking Intro to Sociology. My thinking of my own and others has changed
since my first PVR 1. In my first PVR, I included pictures of two sweatshirts which represented my volleyball team and my current school, a cross, a
box of Macaroni and Cheese, tennis shoes, a picture of my family, an EOS chap stick, and sunglasses. The way I look at my culture now is completely
different. Now, I do not use items at all to define my culture. Objects have nothing to do with it. When I began this semester, I thought of culture as
being where someone was born, their ethnicity, their language, and maybe even what they do for a living. Although I believe these may still be a
part of a culture, they are not the most important aspect of what culture is. Culture is who we are. Culture is our family, our friends, our values,
where we are born, the activities we decide to be a part of, what we decide to do in difficult situation, it is who we are. Culture is not taught, it is
who we become. This is exactly what my picture conveys. We learn through experience who we are and therefore, what our culture is. I thought my
culture was just my family and things I enjoyed doing. Then I thought it was thinking about nature and the people who are important to me. I now
realize it is all of that together. It is learning one thing at a time. I will continue to realize more and more what my culture is the more I dive into
research. I've

Learning through reflection on the implementation of innovative pedagogies, especially those that are themselves grounded in reflection on experience" (Clayton). To develop and grow as a leader it is important that reflection occurs. Personally, I have reflected on both the positive and negative significant events in my life. I have attempted to recognize the meaning of each event and somehow identify how I could grow as a result. I take the time out of my schedule every three days to reflection my actions that I think are significant to me or anyone that I have come in contact with. • 11. Treasury Stock Is A Process Of Accounting Treasury stock is a process of accounting that dates back as early as 1720. The concept of treasury stock originated when "companies discovered that they could sell shares at an unrealistically low price equal to par value incorporators, who in turn donated those shares back to the company. As a result these shares, which had already been issued though not outstanding could be sold at whatever the real market price was without adjusting for stated capital" 2. There is however, not one securely agreed upon definition, as over the years there has been a lack of unanimity as to just what should be included under the term. One commonly accepted and simple definition was stated by late Professor Glenn "of course it is a stock that has been issued and later reacquired by the same company". Another generally accepted definition that goes into more detail was stated by Fletcher, he defines it as "Treasury stock is as its name implies, it is a stock held by the corporation in its treasury to be used or disposed of by the company in the furtherance of corporate purposes, but the courts are not in accord as to how or what procedure shares of stock acquire or take on the status of treasury stock. The courts are agreed that such stock is the personal property of the corporation to be disposed of by the company on such terms as it chooses. A difference in opinion arises as to whether treasury stock is an "asset" or "property" 6. Some of the confusion regarding the nature of treasury stock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The issue is like double edged sword to compare with. From one point of view Mill states that individuals always act in a sense to maximize overall happiness. It means that irrespective of aims and motives, people have to act to increase and maximize overall happiness. From another point of view which again Mill states our ninetyā€“nine percent actions are practiced and more importantly 'motivated by other values'. Nevertheless, attaining overall happiness issue for greatest happiness mismatched with reality and the theory. Sanctions about demanding issue which considers always people be motivated in order to maximize overall benefit idea and personal aims which may differ from idealized motives to improve overall happiness. If it is taken into consideration that two variety of perspectives about demanding issue from motivation point of view and Mill's defense to this idea, demanding criteria pose a challenge to utilitarianism. Secondly, it is challenged that utilitarianism demand us to measure and calculate all of our actions which were gained by past experience and practices for Mill to reach greatest happiness principle. Although Mill defends like "There has been ample time, namely, the whole past duration of the human species. Whoever is the most qualified and passionate should be the person who leads, not the most popular. I believe that having integrity and expecting it at all times from your team is the best way to operate. I believe that leaders cannot always be the "good guys" in every situation. I believe that it is important to find people who will help you most achieve your goal, but ones who are loyal, passionate, and want to grow personally. Mutual respect in any situation will allow for people to speak their minds, even if it is difficult. I want to help my team members find their passions and help them succeed outside of our organization. I believe that leadership is about encouraging others to buy into your values, and cheering them on when they gain recognition for their work. Being a leader was never something that I had to think about. I knew that leaders existed and that they were important to how businesses and companies ran their operations, but other than that I never consciously decided that I was going to be a leader when I was younger. As I grew up and found myself getting more involved with my community, I realized that I was acting like a leader even though I didn't feel like I was acting any different than my normal self. In this situation, I chose to do so, but I did not have an openly communication with my manager about my ethical dilemma. 3. Context In the past, as employees in an organization, we were expected to follow what our employers said without expressing our opinion. However, the age of social medial today brought us opportunities to speak up and broadcast when we see something wrong. This aligns the value on doing work with our personal values when we know our own values and how to giving voice to them. In order to beginning to voice values effectively, we should know ourselves, know our organization, commit to voice, practice, and look for openings, enlist allies. Knowing myself, I am an introverted person and I am not willing to share my opinion to others if I assume that they will not agree with me. I was under the impression I was going to come out of the class a better person who has taken the time to make changes and reflect. However, as the course progressed I recognized that the class is what you put into it. The class wasn't going to change me by doing these activities, but it was how these activities challenged me shift my priorities and simply become more aware. The only change that was going to be made was if I saw the need for it and I was committed. I think the course overall encouraged us, the students, to become more selfā€“aware in many different aspects of our lives. In my case, I think I gained the most from the constant discussion of the importance of reflection and consciousness. Although, we focused on certain topics throughout the semester like time management, diet, and gender issues; I think the main objective was to improve my connection with myself and to realize my own potential. • 21. A Man For All Seasons, And Elia Kazan 's On The Waterfront Only fools follow their standard of personal integrity. Discuss. Values and morals are often instilled in people as they grow up, but the extent to which one chooses to follow these principles can be greatly swayed by how strong their sense of personal integrity is. As individuals are exposed to an array of varying perspectives and multiple values, one 's own certainty about the interpretation or application of a particular principle may lessen, opening up the possibility of accepting an alternative position. Robert Bolt's play, 'A Man For All Seasons', andElia Kazan's 'On the Waterfront', we see that integrity is impossible without a conscience guided by long reflection upon the inner character of justice. Bolt's lead character is a man of strict moral righteousness; he never once wavered, which consequently leads to his fall from grace and untimely death. More is not setting out to be a hero or martyr. He is a lawyer and sees the law as a way to live peacefully in the world. From his choices, it is evidently clear that More is no simple common man. He treads the road that only a few mortals would dare travel down to. His critics see his morality as impractical but for More, his conscience is the only thing "(he) believes to be true". As a man of virtue, More stands alone in the play. Surrounded by a cast of seemingly weak and basic characters, More's morality is even more manifest. Such characters as Richard Rich and the Common Man demonstrate how most normal individuals will be guided by their needs, not their consciences. Rich is intoxicated with avarice and believes that materialistic items such as clothes and money will gain him the respect and power that he 'rightly deserves'. More conversely knows well that respect and admiration cannot be brought and that the integrity of men is to be measured by conduct and not their satisfaction of hubris. It is obvious that More understands the nuance of every political move, as he mentions what would happen if Wolsey falls. He conveys his competence by his careful handling of events. Case Study : Starbucks 's Marketing Strategy An inā€“depth analysis of the case: Starbucks In 1971 Starbucks started as a small coffee shop that specialized in selling whole arabica beans in Seattle's Pike Place market. After being inspired by Milan's coffee culture ā€“ especially the role it espresso bars played in the Italians' everyday social lives ā€“ Starbucks opened an espresso bar in the corner of their shop. Their ideal was to create a 'third place' ā€“ besides home and work ā€“ where people could relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee (Moon & Quelch, 2006). Over two decades the company enlarged and served over 20 million unique customers in over 5,000 stores around the world. Their brand strategy could best be described as 'live coffee', which meant creating an 'experience' around the consumption of coffee that fitted into people 's everyday lives (Moon & Quelch, 2006). • 24. The Good Life Is Life The good life is life that should be focused on it's true denotation, a present body life, not an afterlife. A key aspect of the good life is that it puts goals, dreams, and aspirations in the main focus. The good life is not a refusal of God and eternity, rather places the religious ideas in the background to allow for full pleasure by the individual. In addition, the good life cherishes the small things in life and places importance on the finite, at risk, unique parts in the journey of an individual. Furthermore, in making sure to not unā€“properly empathize the "small things" in life, the good life in its whole values the daily "grind" and experiences and aims to avoid becoming attached to material, fragile objects. Montaigne says "In my opinion, the most ordinary things, the most commonplace and best known can constitute, if we know how to present them in the right life, the greatest of nature's miracles." (Montaigne, 1227) Both philosophers are trying to find the best way to view life and use their work to try to get there. Overall, the good life shares aspects of both philosophies of Boethius and Montaigne. But, in looking at this idea in this work, the good life accepts and rejects pieces of the two philosophies and follows itself more with the ideals of Montaigne. First, Montaigne writes in On Experience, "death is a future of our being" and this is aligned with the good life because it accepts the notion of death and allows the individual to worry less about death ... • 31. Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay First: Equity Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity. Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not. Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt Debt can be "purchased" from a company in the form of a bond. A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain amount, with interest, to the bondholder. # Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital) stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding indefinitely Source: Boundless. • 33. David Boonin Argument Analysis As it was presented earlier, David Boonin's interest based argument has three major elements: 1) A modified futureā€“likeā€“ours account of Don Marquis, 2) Relationship between desires and right to life, and 3) Organized cortical brain activity as a necessary condition for the onset of consciousness. It is the first two elements which are of major concern here. David Boonin modifies Marquis futureā€“likeā€“ours argument and converts it to a desire based account, before developing his analytical distinction of desires that has been shown earlier. Once "values" and "desires" are used interchangeably (which itself raises concerns), the idea that the foetus values its future or comes to value its future can be restated as that which a foetus desires, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, it is not the property of the valuable future that is morally significant. It is the desire for a valuable future which is morally important. Second, there is an implicit emphasis on the present. The foetus in this new version desires in the present that its future be preserved. In the original version the foetus will come to value its future. In fact, the focus on the present is perhaps one of the reasons Boonin has to focus on desires. What drives Boonin to focus on the present is that the morally significant property that would confer the status of personhood on the foetus must be actually present in the foetus for it to qualify as a person. If it is a potential property, an essential property or even a capacity for a potential property, then Boonin will not be able to argue against those who support the foetus inviolability from the moment of conception. Boonin must show that the foetus is not inviolable before they start to have present conscious desires. Since he is basing his argument on Marquis' futureā€“likeā€“ours argument, any modification of the original argument to the present conscious desires version must be done in such a way that the same criteria applies to infants, suicidal teenagers, temporary comatose adults as well as the foetus. In order for the argument to work on all these cases, Boonin creates the analytical distinctions between the occurrent vs dispositional desires and actual vs ideal desires, as presented earlier, to say that it is the property of only "present ideal dispositional conscious desires" that is a morally significant property for personhood. Once the foetus meets the conditions necessary of conscious desires, that is from the onset of advanced organised cortical brain activity, a foetus can have present ideal dispositional conscious ... Both students, teachers, and administrators were assessed and interviewed at the conclusion of the study to report feedback about the successes, weaknesses, opinions, and criticisms about PAR. While the program has a unique and engaging approach, there were several large complications in appropriately implementing PAR into the HAAP program. • 48. Analysis Of The Book ' Little Red Cap ' By Angela Carter Fairytales subvert, challenge or reaffirm archetypal values through didactic lenses. The presence of universal themes allows for an examination of contextual shifts and by being malleable in nature, can be made relevant to different audiences. The Brothers Grimm 's "Little Red Cap", Angela Carter's 'The Company of Wolves" and Tommy Wirkola 's film, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" all promote their hegemonic ideologies and as 'cultural artefacts' extrapolate the contextual values of their time period. Carl Jung 's theory of the 'Collective Unconscious" ensures that each of these fairytale adaptations can retain their archetypal value and thus remain significant and relevant in contemporary circumstances. The Brother Grimm's 19th Century Fairytale, "Little Red Cap" reflects the hegemonies of its context through its cautionary justification. Grimm's work reflected the importance of German national cohesion under French occupation and the view towards foreigners as destructive usurpers. "Little Red Cap" was adapted for instructional purposes, specifically aimed at a children 's audience. Initially in the tale, the subversion of Perrault's depiction of the girl is evident exemplifying her as a "sweet" little girl and the hyperbolic "everybody loved her instantly on first sight" demonstrates the engrained virtue of her youth. The instruction for Little Red Cap to "not stray from the path" foreshadows the inherent danger associated with a misguided venture. The symbolism of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. My Thoughts On What Culture Truly Essay My thoughts on what culture truly is have changed tremendously after taking Intro to Sociology. My thinking of my own and others has changed since my first PVR 1. In my first PVR, I included pictures of two sweatshirts which represented my volleyball team and my current school, a cross, a box of Macaroni and Cheese, tennis shoes, a picture of my family, an EOS chap stick, and sunglasses. The way I look at my culture now is completely different. Now, I do not use items at all to define my culture. Objects have nothing to do with it. When I began this semester, I thought of culture as being where someone was born, their ethnicity, their language, and maybe even what they do for a living. Although I believe these may still be a part of a culture, they are not the most important aspect of what culture is. Culture is who we are. Culture is our family, our friends, our values, where we are born, the activities we decide to be a part of, what we decide to do in difficult situation, it is who we are. Culture is not taught, it is who we become. This is exactly what my picture conveys. We learn through experience who we are and therefore, what our culture is. I thought my culture was just my family and things I enjoyed doing. Then I thought it was thinking about nature and the people who are important to me. I now realize it is all of that together. It is learning one thing at a time. I will continue to realize more and more what my culture is the more I dive into research. I've ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
