The objective of the trip to Blount Springs, Alabama was to observe and gather data on the
geological structure of the area. Blount Springs is located in the northern part of Alabama just 33
miles north of Birmingham, and lies on the southernmost part of the Appalachian fold belt. The field

This formation is a very fine grain Mississippian limestone. To test to see if this was the Bangor
formation we used HCL and because there was a reaction we know its limestone. This formation
could also be described as gray in color as well as an average thickness of 700 feet. We see the
Bangor until stop eight, where we see a very different vertical bedding. Also different at stop eight is
the outcrop no longer reacts with HCL. From this we gathered that we had moved into the Hartselle
formation. In the Hartselle Formation, Mississippian aged sandstones are dominant. This particular
stop had a large amount of jointing. After the Hartselle, we figured the Pride Mountain Formation
would be next, however at stop nine we see the Maury Formation present. This stop focused on the
rock located inside the creek. Because we were unable to go into the creek to get the strike and dips,
we once again had to do a projected orientation. Also found on this stop were natural sulfur springs,
easy to notice with the smell that it gives off. The Maury formation consist of Mississippian–
Silurian aged shale. At the next stop, stop 10, we encounter the Ft. Payne formation. Although this
area location was thickly vegetated, we were able to conduct the acid test and saw that the HCL
reacts in some places but not all. From this we concluded that this was the cherty limestone of the
Ft. Payne formation. The following stop, 12, we went up section and arrived at the Maury Formation

Groundwater is used primarily for irrigating farmland; and secondarily, for consumption and
industrial use. Aquifers, unconsolidated subterranean layers which hold water, are rapidly
dwindling, and groundwater depletion is quickly growing to become a major problem for farmers
and the public at large. Reserves close to ground level are rapidly drying up and due to technological

The four seasons of the year! Love every season. Each season has its own unique feel to the year.
For winter there is cold weather, which means bringing and starting the New Year. Summer, who
doesn't love them hot summer days, eating anything that is cold. Spring, for them raining days,
where the smell of fresh flowers begin to blossom, and grow. Lastly, fall. Fall is when it's time for
the kids to head back to school, or those Saturday night college football games to come on. Every
season is meaningful in some way throughout the year and some can't wait for their favorite season
to approach. I know fall is mines, and I know I can't wait either. Winter! Those cold, brisk days,
seeing your breath as you walk outside, that's when you know winter is here. Temperatures get
below 30's, and the heater is going in every home. The smell of hot chocolate, tea, and coffee warms

Softball is my life. I have always played it and always been around it. It is the thing I truly love to
do and I don't know what I would do without it. This is my story about softball. When I began
softball I was five years old. I don't really remember it all that well, the only thing I truly remember
is my first team. My first team team was extreme, it was my sister team. Even though I don't truly
remember it, I know it was fun, for me at least. When starting out at a young age it's hard for the
parents because we are not good. Everything is just playing in the dirt, trying new positions, and not
paying attention. Im very glad that my parents started me in softball because it's now my favorite
sport. For many years when I was younger and playing, I had to find new teams yearly. I had to do
this because I was always the youngest one on the team. I always hated doing this because I would
always have to make new friends and I just wanted a team I could stick with. At one point I had
found a team that I played with for about three years. My dad had taken over that team and it was a
blast. Until one of our years it was terrible, I had almost not wanted to play anymore because of how

than the other two, but the evenness is lower than the other two. The higher species richness and
Shannon diversity index could be due to the diverse vegetation growing around the pond. The lower
evenness tells us that this site is less diverse than the other two sites. Secondly, the wooded area
contained slightly lower species richness and Shannon diversity index than the water's edge;

Cultural Artifacts
My first work is "La Primavera" written by the Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi in 1723. "La
Primavera" is one of four violin concertos, each capturing moods and illustrating stories related to a
specific time of year. Each section within this movement illustrate the most beautiful scenes of the
spring season, including birds, babbling brooks, and a thunderstorm. (Soomo, n.d). My second work
is an oil on canvas painting, titled "The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone" by Thomas Moran. "The
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone" was painted in 1872 and captures the unique geological
formations and diverse and extravagant colors of the Midwestern United States landscape. (Cantrell,
2014). "In an era before color photography, this painting depicts nature itself as a hero". (Soomo,

Common Theme
The common theme shared by both chosen pieces of work is nature. Antonio Vivaldi embraces the
spring season and captures the moods and illustrates stories specific to that time of year. Thomas
Moran captured the true beauty of a Midwestern landscape of the United States. The colors, terrain,
and overall detail are realistic and allow the viewer to experience the extreme beauty of the
Midwest. "Historians credit these inspiring images with showing the grandeur of the region and
persuading Congress and President Ulysses Grant to establish Yellowstone as the first national park
in 1872." (Cantrell, 2014).

Lonely Page 13,14,15 it states "Winnie Foster sat on the bristly grass just inside the fence and said

Also on page 14 it also states, "She made a game of it anyway, tossing pebbles at such an angle that
they passed through the gnat cloud on their way to the toad. On page 15 it also states why Winnie
foster is lonely because she is telling the toad why should you have to be cooped up in a cage, too?
She is basically saying why do u have to be locked up to and have no freedom. And on page 13 I
picked that certain detail of why she was lonely because it states she is outside sitting on the grass
and inside a fence and she is talking to a toad this shows she is lonely because she had nothing to do
and she is talking to a toad which is not human. Also on page 14 i picked that specific detail because
it also showed Winnie being lonely because she made a game of tossing pebbles at such an angle
and she like doesn't have anything else to do on her spare time but throwing pebbles this could show
that she has no friends hanging out with her or coming to talk to her.

Robert Frost was one of America's greatest poets. From 1874 – 1963 he has written many famous
poems including "Nothing Gold can stay" and
"The Road not taken" which I will be writing about. He lived in San
Francisco and sadly died in Boston in 1963. He moved to Massachusetts when he was eleven and
went to the local high school. He then continues to go to Dartmouth College.
The Road Not Taken is a poem about decisions in life and how each one leads onto another road,

He can only look so far though because you can not look into the far away future hence the line "To
where it bent in the undergrowth". The bend means that you can not look further than that certain

The second verse compares the two roads without knowing what the other contains. He wanted to
know what laid down the other road and compares the path he travelled to the one he could have

The first line means that he has decided to take a journey on one of the roads he was pondering
about. It also means that he could have just as easily taken the road he did not take. In the second
line it means that he thought the road he took would be more interesting than the other, " and having
perhaps the better claim" because it "was grassy and needed wear", which means that lesser people
had been on that path than the other. When a path has not been trodden on, it leaves plants and grass
to overgrow. So he took the road which was grassy because it was unusual compared to the other

My Best Friend
In the winter of 8th grade, I began to disconnect from my friends, mainly my 'best friend'. I didn't
have as much fondness of her as I would've had a few years ago. I didn't laugh with her as much,
and we didn't hang out as often or even feel the need to. It was as if I didn't want to be with her.
"I've known Rue since 3rd grade, so we're best friends," Emma had stubbornly declared to my
friends during lunch at school. Emma grabbed my arm, yanking me towards her until our shoulders
rubbed against each other. I plastered a smile in front of the others, slowly withdrawing my arm
from her hold. That's not how being best friends work, right? I questioned. The air was malicious,
nipping my skin as if telling me to stop being her friend.

Pollution is a big problem in this day and age. Some pollution comes from burning gas to fuel our
cars or some other forms of pollution comes from volcanoes. Carbon dioxide is the main pollutant
warming the earth. But if we start producing less carbon dioxide then the earth will heat up even
more. I know it's crazy right. Carbon dioxide can be produced by cars, planes, power plants, and
many more activities that involve the burning of gas. Did you know that within the past 150 years
we humans have produced the highest level of sulfur dioxide. Yes it's true. When volcanoes erupt
they produce sulfur dioxide which causes pollution but in this world today humans produce the most
amount of sulfur dioxide. You might be asking yourself what are other humans doing to help prevent
pollution? Well, some industrialized countries are trying to help prevent pollution a little bit more.
But we can help them with that by driving/flying less or recycling more. So let's throw our best
efforts in to help save our atmosphere. The most polluted city in the world is Dehli, New York.
Delhi, New York is so polluted that there is a little bit of a yellow tint in the sky. Matthieu Daley
spent 5 days taking pictures all around Delhi and in his photographs you can see a little bit of yellow
over the sky. We can see physical results of pollution in his photographs. No–one wants to have

To fully analyze Spring Creek, the collected samples must be representative of the depth and width
of this creek. To make sure that the width of all the samples was represented, the boat moved side to
side of the entire channel of as samples of the water surface were collected. To get samples that are

the poem is, whether the wall is necessary to have the good relation between neighbors. Narrator
seems to think the wall is not so necessary as it separates him and his neighbor. However, he does
find talking to his neighbor about the wall. but does provide a sense of privacy which is not bad.

Neighbors tend to repair the wall every spring just to find it destroyed next year.
Despite of the fact that narrator is one of those neighbor who likes the wall, it is narrator who first
reminds his neighbor to repair the wall. Moreover, the narrator walks along the point in spring to

My Personal Experience In College Education
Spring 2017 was the worst semesters for me in comparison to my entire college education. I
returned back to college after leaving for six years. I started back spring 2016 at Cuny Hostos . I
took 5 classes in the spring and Fall and one class over the summer. I maintained a GPA over 3.0. I
had 3.54 the spring, I passed my summer class and I maintained a 3.94 for the fall . I transferred
from there due to the distance and I attended my first semester at Brooklyn College. So many
elements affected me and I must be honest and say this was a very hard adjustment for me. My
toddler son had contracted pink eye on three separate occasions. One of my closest friends
experienced a horrible anxiety attack where she flat lined twice in front of me. I'm unsure of the
name the EMT called it but he said due to the stress she was dealing with that her body shut down
on her. Having to be her main source of support has mentally and physically strained everything in
me. Another stressful situation that took place was my cousin experienced a event which caused her
to have a psychotic breakdown. She witness a murder while she was away in college and she tried to
cope with drugs and a bunch of other things. Her parents went and got her and she was in a manic
stage. She was home for about three days, not sleeping, not eating, just babbling about a few
different things. Full of rage, energy it was a very long three days with her. My mom finally
convinced her parents that she needs to go to

My Passion In Sports
My passion is playing sports. I have always been athletic as I grew up playing all different types of
sports. I did gymnastics, basketball, and I continue to play on multiple soccer teams. However ,I
have become a lot more passionate about track and field. Track and field is more of a laid back sport
compared to others as it goes on in an order of events. The events I participate in are various
sprinting events and the pole vault. Pole vault is my favorite of the two events because there are not
many people who compete and it is like a little family amongst competitors. My teammates and I
have a lot of fun hanging out and cheering each other on. Along with the people I also enjoy the
competition and the thrill of beating your personal record whether it is in a race or in pole vault.
I pole vaulted for the first time when I was ten years old. My neighbor, who coincidently is the pole
vault at the high school, invited my brother, my neighbors and I to try it one day during the summer.
I ended up not being horrible at it so when I got to high school I figured I would try it again and see
how it went. It went very well. My neighbor who is the pole vault coach is now very old so he is not
able to make it to practice very often. The pole vaulters and I do have the head coach of the whole
track team assist us from time to time but mostly we all, the four of us that is, critique and help each

One of the most relevant arguments for claiming that the film is good enough to recommend it is
that the film has authorship personality; that is, throughout the movie audience may realise that there
are lots of Burton's characteristic features: such as the visual style, contrasting the pastel colours

The Causes Of The Steamboating Trade?
The steamboating trade was entirely dependent on the weather which would dictate the rise and fall
of water levels and as such it was a seasonal trade. In the upper Mississippi where winter would bite
hard, rivers would freeze over for at least four months out of every year, if not longer. The ice was
not just a concern during the winter months though. When rising waters and breaking ice occurred in
early spring, it created floating hazards, which were known to cause appalling damage to vessels.
The ice would puncture the hull of a vessel like it was made of so much tissue paper and floating
masses of ice were also known to crush steamboats. As such it was not uncommon for dozens of
boats to be lost in a single year.
Captains would often weigh this risk though, leaving too early could mean damage to the vessel but
it also meant more lead and other valuable cargo would be available as the season started.
Passengers that were stranded during the winter months would often pay inflated rates during early
spring due to the lack of competition. Raw materials also fetched a higher price after the winter
months, this meant that miners were often eager to see their minerals to market to benefit from the
higher prices. This meant that they were often willing to pay steamboat captains handsomely to
ensure that their product was put in circulation as soon as possible. Such was the benefit of starting
