Church Meeting Summary
The meeting was about the City of Commission of Deland on March six, at seven pm. First, starts
discussing how people can address an agenda or an unattended issue that can be given to City Clerk
at the proper time. Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting they are going to
explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something very nice that they did
at first is how they made a program called "Super Stars Students of the month" to reward kids for
doing greats in school as a way trying to push them to become something important in the future,
and not giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded the kids but also two employees who
were great in services for a long time. As part of the introduction, they give the quarterly financial
report prepared by Dan Stauffer, which basically shows that the City is doing well so far into each
financial position.
The public comments were very professionally done as I saw there not many arguments into the
agendas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they
try to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better
each day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has to
have patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed, approved and
executed. This meeting brought me back to what in class we been discussing on how a policy is
being made and how it first needs to have a solid argument so it could be approved. So far I never
expected for this meet to go very coordinated and smoothly as sometimes is normal for the argument
from the public but in this case that was not the

Importance Of Justification Of Staff Meeting
For setting up a staff meeting at the third location I would email all staff about the mandatory
meeting that will be held at a specific time and date and let them know which room the meeting will
be held in. Upon meeting time, I would explain to the staff that there have been complaints both
internally and externally about appropriate work dress attire. I would let everyone know that there
will be a new policy enforced, it will mandate that all staff members wear scrubs and solid colored
white or black tennis shoes. The company will supply every staff member with one set of scrubs
while other sets are at the expense of the employee. The new dress code is enforced as of this
meeting and all staff members will be held accountable from here on.
The next item on the agenda for the meeting is cleanliness of the office building. I would let all
employees recognize that in the employee handbook it states that staff members will help daily to
keep the bathrooms, waiting rooms and all areas throughout the establishment clean. Also, I would
reiterate that janitorial visits are happening limited times a week. ... Show more content on

I would have set up a complaint/compliment box at the front of the office for patients to
anonymously leave complaints as well as compliments to help improve the practice. As for staff
members that have a patient who has a complaint they should handle the complaint with concern
and empathy and if it is an emergency issue that it be dealt with immediately, as well as letting the
patient know that you will forward the complaint to the physician who will deal with the complaint
at a higher level of

A Meeting At The First Congregational Church
I went to an AA meeting at the First Congregational Church in New London, Connecticut on
Monday February 22, at 7 pm. It was located in a larger room in the basement of the church. There
were around fifteen members that attended. The individual's came from an array of different ages
and ethnicities, both men and woman. There was no one race or ethnicity that dominated another in
the meeting, it was a very warm, accepting atmosphere. I noticed right away that there was more
young adults around the age of thirty than elderly members. There was also around the same number
of males and females in attendance. The meeting began with the appointed leader asking if there
were any new members in the group, and gave them a chance to introduce themselves. I also
introduced myself at this time, and explained my role as a student. They then transitioned into
reciting the serenity prayer and having a moment of silence, allowing them to give thanks to their
higher power. The leader then had different individuals recite the week's motivational phrase and
reflect on the quote. The quote talked about forgiving yourself as an alcoholic, and the concept of
letting go of the guilt that they have over hurting themselves and the people that they love when they
were under the influence. This topic was very triggering for the members, and lead them into a very
power discussion around the different people in their lives that were directly affected by their
drinking. One woman spoke about losing the

Run A Meeting Analysis
How to Run a Meeting
How to Run a Meeting is an interesting article that gives details on ways to make a meeting as
efficient and effective as possible. Meetings are time–consuming and very important in
communicating information or solving organizational problems. To effectively run a meeting there
must be planning activities before the meeting and leadership activities to execute during the
meeting. Prior to the meeting you must first set objectives. Weather the meeting is meant to share
information or solve problems it is important to make it known to everyone why you are meeting.
Meeting should be called If the information is complex or controversial, has implication for the
participants, or there is a reason it needs to be given personally, ... Show more content on

I agree with the content of this article and think that it lays out a good game plan for leaders to
follow to help run meetings more effectively and get the most out of them. I think the idea of
distributing the agenda and relevant materials ahead of time is a great way to insure that participants
are aware of what they are walking into. Every meeting I have is like a blind date, I have no idea
what the meeting is about or what will happen during the meeting. Of all of the great suggestion in
this article that is one I think would be truly beneficial and would be great if I could apply it to me
organization. I cannot tell you how many times we have had meetings in which the information
shared or the problem being discussed surprised the participants and so discusses were limited to
those who could quickly think on their feet, and those of us that like to think things through for a
few minutes before we response or can come up with good ideas tend to be quick and non–
responsive. I come up with goods ideas but usually after the meeting is over and I have to go
directly to my supervisor to discuss my

Summary Of The Ineffective Meeting
In the video, "The Ineffective Meeting" I recognized that the person who scheduled the meeting was
not present at the scheduled start time, which appeared to be their custom. This resulted in the other
participants treating the recurring meeting as a waste of time and resources. The participants had
negative group roles instead of the progressive positive group roles of facilitator, harmonizer, record
keeper, reporter and leader. Also, there was no clear defined structure to the meeting as related to
topics and roles of the participants. At one point the meeting's agenda was mentioned, however it
appeared to not have been distributed to the entire team. This in turn resulted in team members not
been fully prepared for the meeting.

Aa Meeting Reflection
AA Meeting
When Ms. Reed let us know about this paper and what was going to be about at the beginning of the
semester, I started to feel a little anxious to be completely honest. At that time, my idea of an AA
meeting was a very dark place, with a lot of sad emotions. I feel like us, young people, love to
glamorize alcohol. We like going to parties and saying how drunk we got, but as soon as we hear the
word alcoholic we creep out. Even though a part of me was frightened about going to an AA
meeting, another part of me really wanted to do it. My goal in life is to become a clinical
psychology and this consists of a lot of empathy and understanding of how it feels to be in someone
else's shoes so I felt like I could truly learn from this. I first wanted to go with my group of friends,
just to have someone there with me, but after I thought that if I really wanted to experience this
fully, I had to do it by myself.
It was a cold Friday of October when I decided to go. After checking the time and locations on the
AA of Rhode Island website, I chose the one that suited me the most. I headed to my first option,
and unfortunately, it was closed. I was really determined to go to an AA meeting that night so I just
went and looked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His story was the one that shocked me the most. He mentioned how he used to do every drug:
alcohol, cocaine, and even gamble. He explained how he started to like cocaine so much, that he got
to the point where he did not like going out with people because he didn't like to share it. He wanted
to be snorting all night. He would even go to work high. I have always heard about cocaine and
people that used it, but this is the first time in my life where this subject was presented to me so raw
and real. This man was 4 years cleaned. Something that really got to me was how much he persisted
saying that everything in this life has solutions, that he just need to find

Meetings Can Be Beneficial If They Are Organized
Meetings can be beneficial if they are organized correctly. A meeting needs to have a purpose. An
agenda should be created so that everyone in attendance knows what to expect. The individual who
is in charge of planning the meeting has a very important job when it comes to preparing an
actionable meeting. Tasks need to be assigned as well as deadlines for those tasks to ensure
everything that needs to get done will get done.
Unorganized Meeting I have attended a poorly organized meeting. The staff is left to wonder what
needs to be done and why did we meet here in the first place. Although we talk about things that are
being done in the office and things that have yet to be done, those tasks are just thrown out there.
The coordinator to the meeting does not have a list of individuals whom they think would be good
for the task, or either loosely asks for volunteers who may or may not volunteer during that session.
If an individual does volunteer to complete a task we are not notified, and if no one volunteers I feel
we are working it creating a duplication of effort. This session was highly unorganized.
Four Steps to Overcome Ineffectiveness Next, I will discuss four steps mentioned in the textbook
that are utilized to overcome the ineffectiveness of meetings. These steps are assigning specific tasks
to specific people, review all actions and responsibilities at the end of the meeting, provide meeting
summary with assigned deliverables included, and finally, follow up on

The event that I attended was an IEP meeting for one of the students that I work with. However, the
parent of the student requested that the person that assist her son in the classroom to be included in
the meeting. Day's previews to the meeting, the staff that were involved in the meeting gather
together and created an agenda, they listed the main points that they want to discuss with the mother
of the student. However, I was included in the group too, since I work with the student they asked
me how was the progress of the student? After that meeting the Special Ed teacher schedule the

The Importance Of Attending An AA Meeting
n Wednesday afternoon I drove to the Alano Club, a building in Florence, KY that holds
approximately 17 Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) meetings each week. This meeting was open to the
public meaning it was open to anyone – addicts/alcoholics, their loved ones, anyone in the
community, etc. Every time that I attend a meeting I get this irrational fear that I would recognize
someone and they would think that I am an alcoholic and tell everyone I knew but realistically this
would not be the case since this group relies on anonymous participation and privacy outside. After
previously attending an AA meeting my expectations for the amount of and diversity of the people
was much more open but I still was surprised when I walked in and saw children that

Aa Meeting Observation
For an observation of an AA meeting my classmate and I made arrangements to go to an open
meeting at Our Lady Star Of The Sea Church, which was held in a basement during a Tuesday
afternoon session at 4:00 p.m. I first looked up the sessions online on a website where it held all the
meetings on Staten Island and this one fit my schedule well. Its not unusual for me to be attending or
visiting churches but for this assignment it did feel a little out of my comfort zone, because I didn't
know what to expect or what others would think of me. I chose a seat in the back corner that
wouldn't be too obvious yet it seemed like a typical seat for a newbie to sit at. The room was fairly
large and I was surprised at how big the crowd got at least 30 plus people attended. When I first
walked into the parking lot I was trying to get a feel of who might be the one in charge since
everyone was lined up outside, so I could let them know that I was just a student coming to observe
with another classmate. I asked a lady if there was a group leader or someone in charge and she said
no one is in charge of us. I soon realized when the meeting started that it was almost ... Show more

of alcohol. One can also get a sponsor, which will help guide them through all the steps. The
program is completely free the only requirement is the desire to stop drinking. As nurses or any
health care provider I think it is our duty to provide this type of information and to help educate
others on how the program helps maintain sobriety. It's important for a nurse to provide support with
their client through this journey and also to their family and friends. Nurses need to provide

The chairperson should bring the meeting back to order. The chairperson can even opt to writing the
ideas on a board and they can be brought out for discussion later on if time persists.
Why is a chairperson necessary?
The chairperson ensure the meeting time is well spent and not wasted. They bring the conversation
back to the agenda if participants begin to digress from the topics of discussion.
Who should chair meetings? Why?
The role of chair should rotate with each meeting. This allows those to gain experience
communicating with colleagues and staff.
How long should each meeting last? Why?
The meeting should only last as long as necessary in order to achieve its purpose.
How can active participation in meetings be encouraged?
Acknowledge the participants when ideas are spoken. Thank them for their input. Allow participants
to put something on the agenda either before the meeting or for the next.
Why are minutes necessary?
Minutes are necessary for the organizations records. They allow those who did not participate to
know where the organization is at with decisions. This is the same for stake holders and
shareholders.
Prevents any misunderstanding if who is responsible for any changes. They can also enable people
to look back on actionable items and give a starting point for the following meeting.

Aa Meeting Reflection
Attending an AA meeting was intimidating at first, but it was one of the most moving and
enlightening experiences of my life. I attended a meeting called the "Nooners Group" at the Serenity
Club in Alexandria. The group had six men and one woman in attendance. The members were
mostly white and were about 40 years or older. The group seemed to be in a middle or lower socio–
economic level. The meeting started with several short readings. I was invited to read the AA
preamble. Then, the group leader suggested reading a story from the 'big blue book." The story
focused on a woman's denial of her addiction and eventual acceptance of her alcoholism. After the
reading, almost every person spoke about their own addiction and how it related to the story of the
woman. After the time of sharing, the group held hands, said the AA chants, and recited the Lord's
Prayer. Afterwards, some group members lingered to interact and chat. I was so moved by the power
of the meeting. At times, it felt very serious and emotional, but there were moments of levity, where
the group would laugh or nod in agreement. Overall, the meeting was emotional, inspirational, and
healing.
Several themes were prevalent throughout the meeting: control, fear, life and death, and gratitude.
Many people spoke about the pain of not being able to control their desire for alcohol, while others
focused the cravings' control over their lives. Other members spoke about letting ... Show more

The members found tremendous strength in the group. I could feel the importance of the
community, the no–judgment zone, and sharing their story with peers. The meeting promoted
empathy and allowed people to feel supported and understood in their struggle with alcoholism.
More importantly, the meetings show them that they are not alone. They could talk about their
actions under the influence to others that truly understood

Whittier City Council Meeting Report
The government meeting I attended was the Whittier City Council Meeting on April 26th. I found
out about the meeting on the Whittier city's website. The meetings are open to any citizen who
wants to participate and be informed about what is going on in the city. The Mayor of Whittier is
Fernando Dutra. The council members are Bob Henderson, Owner Newcomer, and Cathy Warner.
The meeting started off with a lot of public attendance, but a lot of people left after recess. There
was not a lot of public participation because the part of the agenda to discuss issues and decisions
wasn't discussed until after recess. This particular meeting wasn't really affected by public
participation. This meeting was not very healthy in the terms of democracy. The meeting started off
with Public Comments which allowed the public to address the City Council and others on any
issues or comments they needed to discuss. Each person got only three minutes to speak, that was
their limit. Robert Dahl's criteria, Effective Participation: all must vote and participate, was really

Robert Dahl's Traditional Democratic Theory really does explain what is needed to make a healthy
democracy. In this meeting, his theory was expressed by the lack of public participation which leads
to the public not being in control. Attendance from the public is very important or else it is just a
meeting between the council. I love my city, but I would not attend another meeting because the
voice of the public is hardly heard so it wouldn't make that much of a difference. It was also very
long, off schedule, and a little hard to understand everything the council was saying. That council
meeting was my first and last meeting I attend. I did learn though how important it is for the public
to speak up and be present if they want to have

Amp Meeting Reflection
Today I went to my first AMP meeting. It was completely different than I expected, but I think that
will turn out to be a good thing. In the beginning I thought this was a program for youth to attend
voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would be from families with foster or kinship care. I
was wrong, as most of the attendees were from group homes around Ames and they were there as
part of their recovery process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of time I spent
with them I grew to really like them. I think that often youth in group homes are stigmatized and
thought of as bad kids, when in reality most of them just haven't had the support they need or grew
up in poor environments that lead them to where they are.

an introvert. I felt shy and anxious. I then realized that AA meeting can be challenging to introvert
and shy people, especially if they are forced to be there. As mentioned early on the paper, some
participants are forced to attend the AA meetings because they are involved in the legal system. For
shy people, an AA meeting cannot help them recover because it consists of sharing with others. Shy
people might feel pushed to their discomfort zone for them to share, and get any benefit from an AA

Immersion experience in context The population that was addressed in the AA meeting I went to

was held at the Alano Club of Kent County. In this building, several different types of AA meetings
and other groups are held. The building itself did not have any huge indicators of the type of
meetings that go on there. This is most likely because of the social and cultural concepts that are
associated with going to AA meetings. Furthermore, it could also be a way to help those going to the

uncomfortable feelings. It felt wrong to be a part of this group when I myself had not gone through

am a nursing student who wanted to experience an AA meeting, to learn more about addiction and
how it impacts individuals lives, and what role I can do, as a nurse, to provide care for a current

about the program, and how I viewed those with addiction. I kept it short and sweet, as I did not
want to take too much time out of the meeting to discuss myself. As the topic of discussion moved
from my schooling to the meeting, I quietly observed and actively listened to the various stories and
advice. After the meeting finished, I thanked both the leader and the members for sharing their
personal stories with me and allowing me the opportunity to witness an AA

Stereotypes Of Today's Meeting
Hello, everyone,
I am emailing you because I am disappointed with the turnout of today's meeting. As president of
the club, it is my job to make sure all board members are pushing their own weight.
I understand you may not able to attend all the meetings, but you need to get into the habit of
informing another board member of your absence. It makes it difficult on myself as well as the other
board members when several of you do not show. Also, please only miss meetings if you absolutely
have to. I understand having to attend class or work but deciding you do not want to show up
because you just do not feel like it is disrespectful and inappropriate in your position.
I also understand that we are coming up on Thanksgiving. I asked if we

The Importance Of Relational Meetings
A relational meeting is arguably one of the most important parts of a social change organization.
Unlike casual conversations, a relational meeting allows the organizer to connect with others on a
personal level in order to objectively assess the organization and see how it can better serve others.
In addition, relational meetings help the organizer understand negative feelings in the community
and come up with ways to combat them. A day is not complete without a relational meeting at
Homeboy Industries. Father Greg meets one on one with youth involved with his organization to
discuss various, personal topics.
In order to keep working towards change, Father Greg must stay updated on problems and feelings
in the community. Meeting with the youth

Psych: Drug Addiction
The meeting I attended was held in Millersville University at Lehr Hall at 9:30 Am. I attended the
meeting alone and was initially very hesitant and uncomfortable with the idea. At the beginning not
unexpected occurred really happened. It appeared to be a very informal meeting that everyone
seemed to already be acquainted. All the members directed each other by name and I was welcomed
by, what seemed to be, a regular attendee as well as a new member. I sat down and initiated
conversation with the member next to me. She informed me that she goes to multiple meetings and
this was her first time at the specific location. She asked me of my major and other information. A

This put the topic more towards forgiveness rather than anything else. The only topic discussed, as I
recall, was forgiveness. Many members gave their accounts of moments in which they felt "sorry"
and how they handled the situation. I will refrain from going into further detail about any of the
members of the group to keep their anonymity. The meeting concluded with the "serenity prayer." I
was not familiar with this prayer so I just held the hands of those near me and bowed my head out of
respect. Specific attendees of the meetings appeared more active and attentive than others. Some of
them seemed as though they did not want to be there and looked miserable. About one or two of the
members even fell asleep a couple of times. Maybe some members went because they had to or
because they just wanted to help tell themselves that they are trying. This really interested me
because it is important to take notice that some people go and progress due to being active and
others are just forced. In the case of being forced it is very easy to go to the meeting and just not be
attentive or active. During the meeting I felt very enlightened. The topic of forgiveness is very broad
and is even relevant in my own life. The viewpoint on the topic was very different and interesting.
They talked more about being forgiving of ourselves because we are the ones that cause ourselves to
react negatively to life's daily hassles and stressors. They also spoke on the control

California Open Meeting Law
First, we have to understand what a meeting is considered, know what government offices are
covered by open meeting laws then explain why it is open to the public. One of the California open
meeting laws is the Bagley–Keene Act it applies at the state government level; it includes state
boards, state commissions and any other state offices that have to hold public meetings. Bagley–
Keene Act defines meetings as a congregation of the members of a state body at the same time to
hear, discuss or deliberate. The Brown Act is the second open meeting law for California, this
applies to the local government level, this would include; the cities, the counties, school districts,

The employees of the government offices are paid by the government hence the reason that I do not
believe they are considered a business at the government level.
The cities receive their revenue from companies, state and federal accounts. But, a lot is paid by the
residents of the state, for example; property taxes, permits, parks and recreation, homeowners taxes,
taxes from businesses, court fees and fines, utility companies and other outside franchises. City
revenue can also take fees for some services like, amusement taxes, and hotel occupancy.
Yes, a city can file bankruptcy. The city of Stockton in California filed bankruptcy, the question was
can they go bankrupt without having to reduce the pensions of public workers. It is the largest city
that filled and Detroit followed. When a municipality files bankruptcy the federal government has to
approve or deny it. Municipalities file under Chapter 9 of the Bankruptcy code. This is not a
common occurrence. The process varies from state to state. In some states, the city goes into state
receivership rather than actually filing. The most common reason is unaffordable union

Group Meeting Outline
Group Meeting Outline
The group leader (youth) will start the meeting out by reminding the group of the "group meeting
expectations." Expectations seem more acceptable to the youth than group meeting rules and are
generally followed.
Group Goal: The group will work out problems using group help and care and concern with yourself
and others. The group leader will read this goal before the meeting. Each person in the group will
make eye contact and commit to the goal. If eye contact is not made, the group leader will repeat the
goal.
The group leader will then ask the following questions to each person in the group;
1. Any communication? Communications from anyone outside of the facility, Probation officer,
Case worker, counselor, parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone wants to change their goal or has a concern? The group members agree and change their
goals. In some cases a youth might need to work on his goal further, whereas others might have
completed their goal. At this point, the youth in the group should help that person come up with a
goal that will help him improve in the program. Again, this is a group task and staff should only
guide as needed. A skilled staff can ask leading questions that will help the youth and the group pick
a useful goal. In some circumstances asking a simple question like, "What do you need to work on
in order to earn your up–level" or" Is there a goal you think you might be able to

County Council Meeting Reflection
The County council meeting that I attended was all I thought it would be, minus the crazy person
that I was promised. The county council meeting was facilitated by a group of white men and
women with very few if any minorities in attendance. The council appeared to be very dry leaving
me questioning why this was so important. However, shortly after settling in for the long hall it
clicked, and I was able to make the connection to my Political Science 1100 course, and how exactly
the county council meeting fit into the bigger picture of government and its importance. The county
council much like the State legislative bodies addressed various topics and issues related to the
county and sought ways to address them. Although it was very dull,

The IEP meeting took place at the Dominick's school. The leader of the meeting was Dominick's
special education teacher who acted as the team coordinator. The major players in this meeting were
the parents, special education teacher, general education teacher, and the middle school teacher as
they are in preparation for Dominick's transition into middle school. In addition, the note taker,
assistant principal, and the school psychologist were present.
Both non–verbal and verbal strategies were used during the IEP to create an open discussion
amongst the participants. An example of a verbal strategy that the special education teacher used

Dettmer, Knackendoffel, & Thurston (2013) address the Triadic model as a classic model that
contains three roles such as the consultant, consultee, and the client. The consultant in this meeting
was the special education teacher. The consultee was the general education teacher. Lastly, the client
was Dominick. All participants needed to collaborate together to increase Dominick success rate
with his IEP goals. The resource/consulting teacher program (RCT) was the second model to be
used during this meeting. The parents were unhappy with the suggestion to decrease Dominick's
time in his special education classroom and asserted their concerns. Presently, Dominick receives
services in the special education classroom as a form of pull–out services at a rate of 45 minutes per
day. The remainder of his time spent is in the general education classroom. By following this model,
the team projects to decrease his time spent in the special education classroom and increase his time
spent in the general education classroom. However, due to Dominick struggling to meeting his
current IEP goals, it would not be beneficial for him to decrease his time spent in the special
education classroom as he requires additional 1:1 assistance, especially in the area of writing.
Dettmer, Knackendoffel, & Thurston (2013), suggest that by following this model, parents are able

Cedar Knolls Meeting Report
The A.A Meeting took place in the Church Notre Dame of Mt at Cedar Knolls. When the meeting
started, I ask myself "where are the guys seeking for help"? When I realized that they all were
seeking for help. They did not look like they need it help, they look like you and me. When the
meeting started first they when in to "The twelve traditions" and then to the events that they have
each week, at the first I could understand what was going on they were laughing one another. When
an old man when to the front to introduced his self. At the end of his introduction he asks everyone

mom was alcoholic and his dad used drugs. He said "I'm pretty sure that my mom used to drink

when he was sick. He moved to Florida, and he started his new job, which helped him to make

Describe Different Types Of Meetings
.
1.6 Most meetings are used to discuss, to inform, to decide, to organise or to plan. They can be used
to coordinate activities, clarify objectives, and evaluate information and they are helpful in solving
problems and generating new ideas. Meetings are costly so as the Chairperson it's your
responsibility to ensure that time is not wasted at such sessions through good planning.
Meetings can be a very powerful communication tool and can improve productivity within any
organization be it Rotaract, LEO, Scouts, etc. As with tools, there are certain procedures and
techniques you can use to maximise its effectiveness and productivity.
Productive meetings don't just happen, a lot of 'behind–the–scenes' work must be carried out.

meeting making sure that you hold everyone's attention and making sure that you stand out. The
communication between the organisation and the outsiders is called external communication.
External communication is needed for smooth conduct and the progress of the business. This form
of communication takes place through personal visits, telephones and postal services. The external
communication includes acknowledgement, enquires, tenders, meetings, conferences and

Questions And Questions On Meetings
Introduction
What are Meetings?
Meetings are where two or more people gather to discuss one or more topics, often in a formal
setting.
Purposes of Meetings
There can really be diverse purposes for meetings. Some of which can be for: Commemorating a
milestone or accomplishment Engaging in meaningful dialogues in order to reach decisions To learn
new things or acquire new skills To generate new ideas and develop new ways of thinking To hear
reports from certain individuals To consult and get feedback on issues To plan strategies needed to
achieve objectives To gain co–operation and support for the plans
Types of Meetings
There are different types of meetings. Most meetings fall into one of four category types, namely:
1. Report and information oriented meetings
2. Decision making and problem solving meetings
3. Creative and brain storming meetings
4. Training and skill building meetings
Meetings may also be: Ad Hoc Meetings – These are meetings which take place at short notices to
deal with a problem that has arisen. Formal Meetings – These are meetings which have set
procedures. They are planned and run in an agreed way. Examples of such would be school staff
meetings, an AGM of a club or monthly growth meetings of a business. Virtual Meetings – This is
where a number of participants may not be physically present for the meeting; however they are still
able to participate in it via use of a video connection, commonly known as video conferencing.

Reflection On Aa Meeting
Prior to the meeting I was angry because multiple locations failed to provide the meeting in which I
needed to attend. I could not stay upset for a long time because if I would have given up, I would
not have been able to meet with this group. This meeting place was somewhere I had visited before
in order to support a friend. Since I had previously attended the meeting at this location I expected
to see some of the same individuals from the previous visit. I also expected to experience a different
set–up for the meeting, but I did not. The step of the meeting was the same as the previous visit, but
due to my anger I did not pay attention to the group's set–up. In the beginning of the meeting, the
hostesses both greeted themselves and welcomed everyone to the meeting. They asked if there were
any announcements that were needed to be made, and about two persons discussed an AA event that
was approaching. It was similar to a retreat that individuals could attend with their sponsors.
Another individual shared with the group about different have canceled their AA meetings for the
week due to Easter celebrations. That is most likely why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

discussed the role of the enabler and how an individual could enjoy this role in which they are
positioned in, if they were to have the power like Homer's wife. He mentioned that "she had all of

Aa Meeting Reflection
AA Group: Happy Hour at CASA Club House (Friday 8/29/2915 6:15–7:15 PM)
Like many others, my perception of AA meetings were unfortunately shaped by television shows.
Initially, I was excited to learn about overcoming alcohol addiction and was amazed by the variety
of meetings that catered to people's interests. However, after I had selected my meeting, I became
somewhat nervous. I felt that my presence would be an invasion of someone else's safe space, which
in turn would impact their treatment negatively. My fears were exacerbated when I read on online
AA forums that participants specifically avoided open meetings because of unwanted visitors, such
as medical students and researchers. However, as soon as I walked into the meeting, I was
welcomed by a member. After introducing myself and stating my affiliation with FSUCOM, I asked
him if my presence would be troublesome for the members. He shook his head and invited me to
take food from the table as they were celebrating their sobriety anniversary. I then sat down next to a
woman who assured me that the group regularly receives visitors ... Show more content on

The message behind this statement echoed one previously made by another member. "I can say that
my mother drinks like an alcoholic, but it's not in my place to call her an alcoholic. That's for her to
decide." These two statements served to show that attaching labels to people does little to help them
deal with their addiction. It is not until alcoholics, by their own choice, choose to accept such a
label, that progress can be made. The most successful members in the meeting had achieved their
sobriety after they had reached a point of realization by themselves, and then chosen to seek help.
The words of law enforcements and doctors had little effect on their decision to ask for

decline the offer, but my plan is to talk to a council person if time permitted.

Gregorio Billikopf, University of California–Berkeley, described meetings as, "...are held to inform
people about policies or operations, gather information, conduct training, resolve problems, or make

Setting Agenda
Most failed professional meetings are due to a lack of focus and unclear goals. It is extremely
important to come prepared with a specific agenda and a clear understanding of what must be
accomplished. While one can be flexible, the agenda must list the topics that will be discussed as
well as the goals; it is really the road map to a successful meeting. The agenda should include; a
review from previous business meetings, a dialogue of new issues, and a clear evaluation of the
group 's goals. One can use judgment to add or subtract items from the agenda as the meeting
develops, as long as the route still leads towards the final goals. Using colleagues time efficiently is
necessary to make ones meeting enjoyable and helps to build group morale. It is recommended that
supervisors of the meeting should not be too optimistic about what should be accomplished in a
single meeting.
During Meeting
Interactions
It is of paramount importance that the person running the meeting keeps it on topic, while making
sure that everyone 's opinions are heard. At times, subjects can arouse strong emotions, and it must
be recognized as a time to better understand one's needs. Members should discuss problems that are
occurring. Other factors influencing group interaction include seating, refreshments, temperature,
lighting, and ventilation. While one should never be late for a meeting, there is a correct way to
enter prior to the

Aa Meeting Experience Essay
I might be different than some people in this class, I've had already had some experience with AA
meetings and NA meetings albeit as a young child. I had a parent who would attend them from time
to time and my sister and I would attend. While this was many years ago, the setting was still the
same to me as it was then.
Going to these kinds of meetings is something that is quite simple. You find out where and you just
show up when it is convenient to you. There's no signing in, you don't have to pay anything, or
make appointments. There are no meddling questions, no commitments. Your confidentiality and
privacy will be appreciated. You won't be met with a mandate to come back to any meeting. You can
go to multiple or as little as you wish. Many have no idea what to expect in their first meeting. For
some the idea can be quite intimidating, so you will be relieved to find that your fears will be
unwarranted. AA meetings are stress–free, welcoming and open.
It should be no surprise about the type of people that make up these meetings. In terms of gender the
meeting I attended had just a couple of more males than females. There wasn't a huge disparity in
the number though. Race was different, there was not a prevailing race over another. I think that it ...

I saw about every type of person there was! During the course of the meeting many of the
preconceptions I had about alcoholics and A.A meetings were brought clearly out into light as false.
I used to think religion played a strong role, but I soon learned that the A.A. based upon religion.
Many just simply believe in a power that is greater, but that's not to say that it is a god per say. I can
also now see members continue to attend meetings even after they have been sober for a while. I
think that this is because alcoholism is viewed by many as an illness that cannot be cured and people
most likely return to continue getting support and maintain

GVAHEC Staff Meeting

about their organization, but for this month, they had to postponed the meeting to the second
Monday of the month due to unavailability of some staff members. The purpose of the meeting was
to discuss how to make the organization function better. One thing that they focused on during the
meeting was the sponsorship opportunity. They want to look for more agencies that can fund their
organization. So, some people came up with new idea, which has been taken into consideration. I

Remember that one of GVAHEC's missions is to educate underserved population about healthy
behavior. One staff member attended excel training, she also shared her knowledge about how to

graduated. I think this meeting was very useful to me because I have learned some new things. For
example, I have learned how to look for fund raising opportunity, so, in the future, if I work with an
organization that needs sponsor, I think I can help. I have also learned through this meeting that
when I will be working with this type organization, it is very important to learn new things from
other organizations that will help my organization to prosper. On Wednesday September 13, I went
to the Phoenix location. We have finished our project regarding St Mary's food bank presentation.
So, two weeks from now, we will be presenting. I have learned many things through this project. For

Church Meeting Summary

  • 1. Church Meeting Summary The meeting was about the City of Commission of Deland on March six, at seven pm. First, starts discussing how people can address an agenda or an unattended issue that can be given to City Clerk at the proper time. Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting they are going to explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something very nice that they did at first is how they made a program called "Super Stars Students of the month" to reward kids for doing greats in school as a way trying to push them to become something important in the future, and not giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded the kids but also two employees who were great in services for a long time. As part of the introduction, they give the quarterly financial report prepared by Dan Stauffer, which basically shows that the City is doing well so far into each financial position. The public comments were very professionally done as I saw there not many arguments into the agendas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they try to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better each day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has to have patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed, approved and executed. This meeting brought me back to what in class we been discussing on how a policy is being made and how it first needs to have a solid argument so it could be approved. So far I never expected for this meet to go very coordinated and smoothly as sometimes is normal for the argument from the public but in this case that was not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Importance Of Justification Of Staff Meeting For setting up a staff meeting at the third location I would email all staff about the mandatory meeting that will be held at a specific time and date and let them know which room the meeting will be held in. Upon meeting time, I would explain to the staff that there have been complaints both internally and externally about appropriate work dress attire. I would let everyone know that there will be a new policy enforced, it will mandate that all staff members wear scrubs and solid colored white or black tennis shoes. The company will supply every staff member with one set of scrubs while other sets are at the expense of the employee. The new dress code is enforced as of this meeting and all staff members will be held accountable from here on. The next item on the agenda for the meeting is cleanliness of the office building. I would let all employees recognize that in the employee handbook it states that staff members will help daily to keep the bathrooms, waiting rooms and all areas throughout the establishment clean. Also, I would reiterate that janitorial visits are happening limited times a week. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would have set up a complaint/compliment box at the front of the office for patients to anonymously leave complaints as well as compliments to help improve the practice. As for staff members that have a patient who has a complaint they should handle the complaint with concern and empathy and if it is an emergency issue that it be dealt with immediately, as well as letting the patient know that you will forward the complaint to the physician who will deal with the complaint at a higher level of ... • 5. A Meeting At The First Congregational Church I went to an AA meeting at the First Congregational Church in New London, Connecticut on Monday February 22, at 7 pm. It was located in a larger room in the basement of the church. There were around fifteen members that attended. The individual's came from an array of different ages and ethnicities, both men and woman. There was no one race or ethnicity that dominated another in the meeting, it was a very warm, accepting atmosphere. I noticed right away that there was more young adults around the age of thirty than elderly members. There was also around the same number of males and females in attendance. The meeting began with the appointed leader asking if there were any new members in the group, and gave them a chance to introduce themselves. I also introduced myself at this time, and explained my role as a student. They then transitioned into reciting the serenity prayer and having a moment of silence, allowing them to give thanks to their higher power. The leader then had different individuals recite the week's motivational phrase and reflect on the quote. The quote talked about forgiving yourself as an alcoholic, and the concept of letting go of the guilt that they have over hurting themselves and the people that they love when they were under the influence. This topic was very triggering for the members, and lead them into a very power discussion around the different people in their lives that were directly affected by their drinking. One woman spoke about losing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Run A Meeting Analysis How to Run a Meeting How to Run a Meeting is an interesting article that gives details on ways to make a meeting as efficient and effective as possible. Meetings are time–consuming and very important in communicating information or solving organizational problems. To effectively run a meeting there must be planning activities before the meeting and leadership activities to execute during the meeting. Prior to the meeting you must first set objectives. Weather the meeting is meant to share information or solve problems it is important to make it known to everyone why you are meeting. Meeting should be called If the information is complex or controversial, has implication for the participants, or there is a reason it needs to be given personally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with the content of this article and think that it lays out a good game plan for leaders to follow to help run meetings more effectively and get the most out of them. I think the idea of distributing the agenda and relevant materials ahead of time is a great way to insure that participants are aware of what they are walking into. Every meeting I have is like a blind date, I have no idea what the meeting is about or what will happen during the meeting. Of all of the great suggestion in this article that is one I think would be truly beneficial and would be great if I could apply it to me organization. I cannot tell you how many times we have had meetings in which the information shared or the problem being discussed surprised the participants and so discusses were limited to those who could quickly think on their feet, and those of us that like to think things through for a few minutes before we response or can come up with good ideas tend to be quick and non– responsive. • 9. Summary Of The Ineffective Meeting In the video, "The Ineffective Meeting" I recognized that the person who scheduled the meeting was not present at the scheduled start time, which appeared to be their custom. This resulted in the other participants treating the recurring meeting as a waste of time and resources. The participants had negative group roles instead of the progressive positive group roles of facilitator, harmonizer, record keeper, reporter and leader. Also, there was no clear defined structure to the meeting as related to topics and roles of the participants. At one point the meeting's agenda was mentioned, however it appeared to not have been distributed to the entire team. This in turn resulted in team members not been fully prepared for the meeting. • 11. Aa Meeting Reflection AA Meeting When Ms. Reed let us know about this paper and what was going to be about at the beginning of the semester, I started to feel a little anxious to be completely honest. At that time, my idea of an AA meeting was a very dark place, with a lot of sad emotions. I feel like us, young people, love to glamorize alcohol. We like going to parties and saying how drunk we got, but as soon as we hear the word alcoholic we creep out. Even though a part of me was frightened about going to an AA meeting, another part of me really wanted to do it. My goal in life is to become a clinical psychology and this consists of a lot of empathy and understanding of how it feels to be in someone else's shoes so I felt like I could truly learn from this. I first wanted to go with my group of friends, just to have someone there with me, but after I thought that if I really wanted to experience this fully, I had to do it by myself. It was a cold Friday of October when I decided to go. After checking the time and locations on the AA of Rhode Island website, I chose the one that suited me the most. I headed to my first option, and unfortunately, it was closed. I was really determined to go to an AA meeting that night so I just went and looked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explained how he started to like cocaine so much, that he got to the point where he did not like going out with people because he didn't like to share it. He wanted to be snorting all night. He would even go to work high. I have always heard about cocaine and people that used it, but this is the first time in my life where this subject was presented to me so raw and real. • 13. Meetings Can Be Beneficial If They Are Organized Meetings can be beneficial if they are organized correctly. A meeting needs to have a purpose. An agenda should be created so that everyone in attendance knows what to expect. The individual who is in charge of planning the meeting has a very important job when it comes to preparing an actionable meeting. Tasks need to be assigned as well as deadlines for those tasks to ensure everything that needs to get done will get done. Unorganized Meeting I have attended a poorly organized meeting. The staff is left to wonder what needs to be done and why did we meet here in the first place. Although we talk about things that are being done in the office and things that have yet to be done, those tasks are just thrown out there. The coordinator to the meeting does not have a list of individuals whom they think would be good for the task, or either loosely asks for volunteers who may or may not volunteer during that session. If an individual does volunteer to complete a task we are not notified, and if no one volunteers I feel we are working it creating a duplication of effort. This session was highly unorganized. Four Steps to Overcome Ineffectiveness Next, I will discuss four steps mentioned in the textbook that are utilized to overcome the ineffectiveness of meetings. These steps are assigning specific tasks to specific people, review all actions and responsibilities at the end of the meeting, provide meeting summary with assigned deliverables included, and finally, follow up on ... • 19. The Importance Of Attending An AA Meeting n Wednesday afternoon I drove to the Alano Club, a building in Florence, KY that holds approximately 17 Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) meetings each week. This meeting was open to the public meaning it was open to anyone – addicts/alcoholics, their loved ones, anyone in the community, etc. Every time that I attend a meeting I get this irrational fear that I would recognize someone and they would think that I am an alcoholic and tell everyone I knew but realistically this would not be the case since this group relies on anonymous participation and privacy outside. After previously attending an AA meeting my expectations for the amount of and diversity of the people was much more open but I still was surprised when I walked in and saw children that ... • 21. Aa Meeting Observation For an observation of an AA meeting my classmate and I made arrangements to go to an open meeting at Our Lady Star Of The Sea Church, which was held in a basement during a Tuesday afternoon session at 4:00 p.m. I first looked up the sessions online on a website where it held all the meetings on Staten Island and this one fit my schedule well. Its not unusual for me to be attending or visiting churches but for this assignment it did feel a little out of my comfort zone, because I didn't know what to expect or what others would think of me. I chose a seat in the back corner that wouldn't be too obvious yet it seemed like a typical seat for a newbie to sit at. The room was fairly large and I was surprised at how big the crowd got at least 30 plus people attended. When I first walked into the parking lot I was trying to get a feel of who might be the one in charge since everyone was lined up outside, so I could let them know that I was just a student coming to observe with another classmate. I asked a lady if there was a group leader or someone in charge and she said no one is in charge of us. I soon realized when the meeting started that it was almost ... • 26. Aa Meeting Reflection Attending an AA meeting was intimidating at first, but it was one of the most moving and enlightening experiences of my life. I attended a meeting called the "Nooners Group" at the Serenity Club in Alexandria. The group had six men and one woman in attendance. The members were mostly white and were about 40 years or older. The group seemed to be in a middle or lower socio– economic level. The meeting started with several short readings. I was invited to read the AA preamble. Then, the group leader suggested reading a story from the 'big blue book." The story focused on a woman's denial of her addiction and eventual acceptance of her alcoholism. After the reading, almost every person spoke about their own addiction and how it related to the story of the woman. After the time of sharing, the group held hands, said the AA chants, and recited the Lord's Prayer. Afterwards, some group members lingered to interact and chat. I was so moved by the power of the meeting. At times, it felt very serious and emotional, but there were moments of levity, where the group would laugh or nod in agreement. Overall, the meeting was emotional, inspirational, and healing. Several themes were prevalent throughout the meeting: control, fear, life and death, and gratitude. Many people spoke about the pain of not being able to control their desire for alcohol, while others focused the cravings' control over their lives. Other members spoke about letting ... The meetings are open to any citizen who wants to participate and be informed about what is going on in the city. The Mayor of Whittier is Fernando Dutra. The council members are Bob Henderson, Owner Newcomer, and Cathy Warner. The meeting started off with a lot of public attendance, but a lot of people left after recess. There was not a lot of public participation because the part of the agenda to discuss issues and decisions wasn't discussed until after recess. This particular meeting wasn't really affected by public participation. This meeting was not very healthy in the terms of democracy. The meeting started off with Public Comments which allowed the public to address the City Council and others on any issues or comments they needed to discuss. In this meeting, his theory was expressed by the lack of public participation which leads to the public not being in control. Attendance from the public is very important or else it is just a meeting between the council. I love my city, but I would not attend another meeting because the voice of the public is hardly heard so it wouldn't make that much of a difference. It was also very long, off schedule, and a little hard to understand everything the council was saying. That council meeting was my first and last meeting I attend. • 30. Amp Meeting Reflection Today I went to my first AMP meeting. It was completely different than I expected, but I think that will turn out to be a good thing. In the beginning I thought this was a program for youth to attend voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would be from families with foster or kinship care. I was wrong, as most of the attendees were from group homes around Ames and they were there as part of their recovery process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of time I spent with them I grew to really like them. I think that often youth in group homes are stigmatized and thought of as bad kids, when in reality most of them just haven't had the support they need or grew up in poor environments that lead them to where they are. ... I then realized that AA meeting can be challenging to introvert and shy people, especially if they are forced to be there. The location of the meeting was held at the Alano Club of Kent County. In this building, several different types of AA meetings and other groups are held. The building itself did not have any huge indicators of the type of meetings that go on there. This is most likely because of the social and cultural concepts that are associated with going to AA meetings. This response sparked an interest in many of the members, as they began to ask about my schooling. • 72. Aa Meeting Reflection AA Group: Happy Hour at CASA Club House (Friday 8/29/2915 6:15–7:15 PM) Like many others, my perception of AA meetings were unfortunately shaped by television shows. Initially, I was excited to learn about overcoming alcohol addiction and was amazed by the variety of meetings that catered to people's interests. However, after I had selected my meeting, I became somewhat nervous. I felt that my presence would be an invasion of someone else's safe space, which in turn would impact their treatment negatively. My fears were exacerbated when I read on online AA forums that participants specifically avoided open meetings because of unwanted visitors, such as medical students and researchers. However, as soon as I walked into the meeting, I was welcomed by a member. After introducing myself and stating my affiliation with FSUCOM, I asked him if my presence would be troublesome for the members. He shook his head and invited me to take food from the table as they were celebrating their sobriety anniversary. I then sat down next to a woman who assured me that the group regularly receives visitors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The message behind this statement echoed one previously made by another member. "I can say that my mother drinks like an alcoholic, but it's not in my place to call her an alcoholic. That's for her to decide." These two statements served to show that attaching labels to people does little to help them deal with their addiction. It is not until alcoholics, by their own choice, choose to accept such a label, that progress can be made. The most successful members in the meeting had achieved their sobriety after they had reached a point of realization by themselves, and then chosen to seek help. The words of law enforcements and doctors had little effect on their decision to ask for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. School Council Meeting Report I am grateful for the opportunity to attend the council's meeting. I was a little nervous about this assignment because I never been to a meeting and I never ask to interview a council member, so I went down to my local city hall and inquired some information about what day and time the council meetings are held. So I chose to go to the meeting to get some insight on what really goes on at a council meeting. I did want to interview a committee member because I was afraid that they would decline the offer, but my plan is to talk to a council person if time permitted. All council meetings are held at the Tupelo City Hall 71 East Troy St., Tupelo Mississippi 38804. The council meetings are held twice a month every first and third Tuesday at ... Setting Agenda Most failed professional meetings are due to a lack of focus and unclear goals. It is extremely important to come prepared with a specific agenda and a clear understanding of what must be accomplished. While one can be flexible, the agenda must list the topics that will be discussed as well as the goals; it is really the road map to a successful meeting. The agenda should include; a review from previous business meetings, a dialogue of new issues, and a clear evaluation of the group 's goals. One can use judgment to add or subtract items from the agenda as the meeting develops, as long as the route still leads towards the final goals. Using colleagues time efficiently is necessary to make ones meeting enjoyable and helps to build group morale. It is recommended that supervisors of the meeting should not be too optimistic about what should be accomplished in a single meeting. During Meeting Interactions It is of paramount importance that the person running the meeting keeps it on topic, while making sure that everyone 's opinions are heard. At times, subjects can arouse strong emotions, and it must be recognized as a time to better understand one's needs. Members should discuss problems that are occurring. Other factors influencing group interaction include seating, refreshments, temperature, lighting, and ventilation. While one should never be late for a meeting, there is a correct way to enter prior to the

  • 79. Aa Meeting Experience Essay I might be different than some people in this class, I've had already had some experience with AA meetings and NA meetings albeit as a young child. I had a parent who would attend them from time to time and my sister and I would attend. While this was many years ago, the setting was still the same to me as it was then. Going to these kinds of meetings is something that is quite simple. You find out where and you just show up when it is convenient to you. There's no signing in, you don't have to pay anything, or make appointments. There are no meddling questions, no commitments. Your confidentiality and privacy will be appreciated. You won't be met with a mandate to come back to any meeting. You can go to multiple or as little as you wish. Many have no idea what to expect in their first meeting. For some the idea can be quite intimidating, so you will be relieved to find that your fears will be unwarranted. AA meetings are stress–free, welcoming and open. It should be no surprise about the type of people that make up these meetings. In terms of gender the meeting I attended had just a couple of more males than females. There wasn't a huge disparity in the number though. Race was different, there was not a prevailing race over another. I think that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I saw about every type of person there was! During the course of the meeting many of the preconceptions I had about alcoholics and A.A meetings were brought clearly out into light as false. I used to think religion played a strong role, but I soon learned that the A.A. based upon religion. Many just simply believe in a power that is greater, but that's not to say that it is a god per say. I can also now see members continue to attend meetings even after they have been sober for a while. I think that this is because alcoholism is viewed by many as an illness that cannot be cured and people most likely return to continue getting support and maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss how to make the organization function better. One thing that they focused on during the meeting was the sponsorship opportunity. They want to look for more agencies that can fund their organization. So, some people came up with new idea, which has been taken into consideration. The opener for the meeting stated that: is predicted that everything training wise would be moved to a digital platform. The Association for Talent Development group is something that I have heard of in at least two of my AOD classes and if given a chance to attend a meeting I decided I would go.
