Key Factors Of Employee Engagement
1 INTRODUCTION
A key factor of an organization is its employees. Human resource professionals are facing problems in retaining employees for long period in attaining
organization growth and success. HR professionals are in search of secrets on 'what' and 'how' to make employees commit themselves to their work and
organization mentally, physically and emotionally in achieving long term goals. 'Engaged" is the term, used when employees dedicate themselves
mentally, physically and emotionally to their work and organization in achieving long term goals. Engaged employees are assets to an organization.
"Employee engagement" concept has been found in all organizations in present scenario and it plays a vital role in organization performance. Employee
engagement is the mode by which an organization can develop a strong relationship between the organization and its employees. Employees should

Author has given some selected definitions of employee engagement as below.
William kahn(1990), in his much cited paper, described an employee's " personal engagement" as "the harnessing of organization members' selves to
their work roles; in engagement, people employ and express themselves physically, cognitively, and emotionally during role performances" .
N.P.Rothbard (2001) defined engagement "as a psychological presence with two key mechanism, attention and absorption".
Gallup Organization (2004), Gallup organization defined engaged employees as those who, "work with a passion and feel a profound connection to
their company" and "drive innovation and move the organization forward" in his book 'First, Break all the rules'. Gallup also described that "Employee

Student Engagement
What is student engagement? Student engagement is when students are given "work that enables them to demonstrate and improve their awareness as
competent and successful human beings" (Hall, 2015, p. 37). Teachers can learn and use strategies in their classrooms that will encourage students to
be engaged in their learning. It is important to engage students and ensure that "all students have meaningful access to the content of lessons through
active–engagement learning activities" (Feldman & Denti, 2004, p. 3). Furthermore, according to Wood & Turner–Vorbeck, "classroom discussion
based on students' own ideas and solutions to problems is essential to learning" (as cited by Van De Walle, Karp, Bay
–Williams, 2016, p. 27).
Strategies for Student engagement
There are many strategies teachers can use to engage students in lessons. "Rather than showing students how to do something, your role is to ask
probing questions that keep students engaged in the productive struggle until they reach a solution" (Van De Walle et al., 2016, p.29). A strategy that is
used to engage students in math is to connect real–life and mathematics. According to Attard (2012), "The incorporation of tasks that mirrored life–like
situations appears to have been a strong factor in engaging students in mathematics tasks, as were the tasks that required the students to

Anecdotal Evidence On The Classroom Engagement
Anecdotal Evidence" Milman (2012) notes, the flipped or inverted classroom, used in K–12 and higher education, has been receiving attention.
According to Milman (2012), advocates of the strategy make numerous benefits known, for example – increasing classroom engagement. Milman
(2012) notes there are both advantages (it seems to be a good fit to teach procedural knowledge) and disadvantages (students may not watch the videos
and or it may not be the best way to learn the concept). Additionally Milman (2012) notes, "no empirical research exists to substantiate its use" (p. 2);
however, many instructors support its use as a teaching strategy. According to Hamdan, McKnight, McKnight, and Arfstrom, (2013) both quantitative
and qualitative research is limited; however, there is research that supports the model and the instruction of strategies that engage students in learning.
Hamdan et al (2013) state Flipped Learning "has been mainly a grassroots movement" (p. 9), although more administrators and parents are researching
this teaching method. Speak Up's annual online survey (Fall of 2012) contained questions specific to the Flipped Learning method, 6% of respondents
indicated they were using some form of video enhancement and 18% of teachers indicated interest in trying the method (Hamdan, McKnight,
McKnight, & Arfstrom, 2013). In Addition, 60% of grade 6–12 students agreed this method would be a good way for them to learn (Hamdan et al.,

Essay On Community Engagement
Abstract
Community engagement is the process by which the community benefits organization and individual to get the whole organization to involved in
whatever they doing. According to Rosie Niven, 2013 stated that community engagement is about creating the permanent relationship for the purpose
of the community. It is also by applying a positive and exiting collective vision for the community in order to make their area a better place to live in.
the important goal here is to actively engage the individual with the same views and the individual must an enthusiasm, interest and have the passion
for what they do. The engager needs to understand the significance and purpose or motive of their involvement in order for the community to fully
engage in any activities. It must be excited and fun even if it sounds boring. The individual is capable and has the power to amended the society if the
program becomes effectual.

Employee Engagement : A Positive Emotional Attachment
Employee engagement has gained rapid attention in the past five to ten years and all for the right reasons. Data shows that engaged employees tend to
perform better at their jobs and also surpass expectations when it comes to helping colleagues, members and the organization. Employee engagement
can be defined as a positive emotional attachment that a person forms with an organization leading to behaviors that drive productivity and boost
performance. The goal of employee engaging is to provide maximum satisfaction to the employee while in return getting maximum contribution from
them.
In my previous job from 2010 to 2014, I worked for a small non–profit association. Employee engagement was not at all discussed or performed at the

From the employee perspective, my current employer sees engagement more like a system than a goal. Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert comic strip,
emphasizes the difference between goals and systems in his book "How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big." If engagement just becomes a
goal, a percentage to reach the organization will be in a constant state of failure until they succeed and then there's nothing to pursue afterwards. But
when there's a system for employee engagement, there's a continuous effort to become better which in turn provides a sense of fulfillment to the
employer and the employee.
"Goal–oriented people exist in a state of continuous pre–success failure at best, and permanent failure at worst if things never work out. Systems people
succeed every time they apply their systems, in the sense that they did what they intended to do. The goals people are fighting the feeling of
discouragement at each turn. The systems people are feeling good every time they apply their system. That's a big difference in terms of maintaining
your personal energy in the right direction."
When an organization makes it a priority to create a strong connection between the organization and the purpose and identity of an employee, it makes
it much more likely that he or she will be

Community Engagement In The Community
Engaging ourselves as well as engaging in the community with issues of our society makes us open to different things. Community engagement is the
process of working with individuals and groups to achieve specific goals. It involves community members with making decisions and taking action.
This process of creating a relationship with community members in society that can maintain a mission with an ultimate goal of making something
better. It's an ongoing process with collaborative work, cooperative dialogue, collective decisions and shared ownership. There are many different
activities that community engagement is involved with, which are community service, internships, voter's registration, service–learning and etc. The
primary focus of community engagement is the practice of moving communities towards change.
The transformation from high school to college was very big for me. Only because I was a loner and I didn't really get involved with groups nor
did I have a social life outside of playing basketball. When I came to college I made up in my mind that I was going to change. Once I was
introduced to the four pathways that Methodist offered I decide to choose community engagement. Community engagement fits me best because it
gives me a chance to interact with people and also voices my opinion. I wanted to work on enhancing this aspect because I'm a very shy person with
a lot to say. The program would also give me some good information to learn from and gain knowledge.

How Employee Engagement Can Be Highly Affected By...
It has been pointed out that organizational success in winning customer loyalty and a bigger share of the marketplace often accompanies by the
actively engaged and loyal employees, especially in today's flatter, more networked organizations. Leadership communication plays a vital role in
generating this kind of commitment. Unfortunately, it appears that most efforts to shape an engaged culture are being missed fromleadership
communication (Tourish and Hargie 2009). Gallup (2013) conducted a survey revealing that only 13 percent of all employees are "highly engaged" at
work, and 24 percent are "actively disengaged." This means that there still remains confused about how can build up the engagement of employees
through leadership communication despite the fact that there is a great deal of interest in this field.
This essay will analyze how employee engagement can be highly affected by leadership communication. It will also argue that communicative leaders
are more effective in building more engaged and cooperative workplaces through enacting communicative leadership. Specifically, this essay will begin
by briefly reviewing literatures from engagement and leadership communication. We then develop notions that link leadership communication to the
employee engagement through four central communication behaviors of leaders.
The challenge presented by the literature is the lack of a universal definition of employee engagement. Most managers acknowledge the fact that

engaging the learner by utilizing activities that capture their attention and build on their previous knowledge and interests will be beneficial to the
students' growth in the course. Facilitating student engagement and motivation, teachers are encouraged to provide constant and consistent feedback
which includes questions and activities which spark reflection (Larsen, 2012). Additionally, the use of reflection was found to be a critical element to
designing an effective online course (Iskander, 2014). Larsen (2012) found that one method of creating effective interactivity is to incorporate activities
using reflection. Using reflection, learners are expected to communicate how the content relates to their own lives as well as any prior knowledge they
may have about the content (Verpoorten, Westera, & Specht, 2012). The creation of activities using reflection effectively can be as simple as the
teacher creating 'dig deeper' type questions for the students to answer about the content of the lesson. Additional studies by Barrett (2013) and Grosso,
Smith, & Grosso (2012) found that effective online teachers facilitate deeper thinking by posing additional questions to students as they answer the
initial questions. That is to say, using 'how' and 'tell me more' type questions will encourage students to fully engage in the

Issue Of Engagement Ring And Whether John Can Get It Back
To: Jennifer Moore, Esc.
From: Joe Maletz
Date: 17th September 2015
RE: Issue of Engagement ring and whether John can get it back.
Legal Memorandum:
Facts: In Massachusetts law, John Smith and Patty Jones were engaged. John Smith proposed to Patty Jones on February 14th, 2014. Upon proposal,
John presented Patty with a 2–carat diamond engagement ring. Three months ago from now, John Smith caught Patty Jones having an affair with Brian
Wilkinson. Brian Wilkinson is a best friend with John Smith. John called off the engagement. John demanded that Patty return the engagement ring.
Patty refused to return the engagement ring. Patty claims that it was a "gift" from John. John now wants to hire a lawyer to represent him in a potential
lawsuit.
Legal Issue: John Smith and Patty Jones were engaged with full intentions to marry one another. John Smith presented Patty Jones with an engagement
ring. Patty Jones believes and argues that John Smith gave the 2–carat diamond ring to her as an unconditional gift. An unconditional gift being a gift
that is given to one person by another, with no expectation of anything in return. John Smith would argue that the engagement ring was given to her as
a contract. This means that the ring was given as a contract to one day be married to one another. Which would make the affair a breach and break off
the contract; therefore returning the ring back to John Smith
Legal Discussion: Assuming that everything John Smith has presented to

Critical Elements That Can Improve Employee Engagement
Critical elements that can improve employee engagement will vary by organization and by different leaders. Each person has their own set of tactics
that they would use to improve employee engagements. I believe there isn't an absolute 5 that you must adhere by, but a set of 5 that will be the most
beneficial to your leadership style. The 5 elements that can be used to improve employee engagement are building the correct team, creating a shared

If everyone is on the same page, they will work towards the same goal, not individual goals. Creating common ground builds moral and improves
communication. A shared purpose is not a verse on what is expected, rather it is multidimensional addressing what everyone in the company is trying
to accomplish. A leader will know once they have created a shared purpose because employee's will start responding to questions by stating the shared
purpose. When all employees believe in the shared purpose you have a powerful tool to increase employee engagement. A shared purpose creates
teamwork and encourages engagement between members. Building a shared purpose will work in conjunction with the following tactic.
After the leader has created a shared purpose, the leader should focus on creating culture or changing the culture of the organization. Creating a

Employee Engagement Is Essential For Any Productive And...
Employee engagement in the workplace is essential for any productive and successful business. It is a level of commitment and involvement an
employee has towards their organization and its values. An engaged employee feels a sense of purpose and belonging, and has the drive to improve
performance for the overall benefit of the organization. Effective engagement of one employee will motivate others, inspiring the entire atmosphere
of the workplace to where all employees are focused on their organization's success. According to Gallup's 2013 State of the Global Workplace
study, only 13 percent of employees across 142 countries are engaged at work. The study also revealed that 63 percent are disengaged and almost a
quarter of all employees are actively disengaged (Gallup, 2013). Engaged employees are crucial to protecting the competitive positioning of an
organization. Bolman and Deal (2013) state how "a skilled and motivated workforce is a powerful source of competitive advantage" (p. 133).
However, recognizing a strong and highly motivated workforce that is committed to a company's mission and objectives can be a challenge. This
paper will focus on best practices to effectively engage employees, analyze the effectiveness at Hoag Hospital, provide recommendations for further

Aon Hewitt (2012) indicates that the business success is critical regarding company's performance on employee engagement. Engaged employees have
a clear understanding of their roles in business strategy and deliver greater performance; they get more involved as well as having a strong connection
and commitment to the company and strive to go above and beyond in their jobs (Aon Hewitt, 2012). Aon Hewitt (2012) also mentions that
engagement is about measuring the state of emotional and intellectual involvement or commitment of the workforce. It goes beyond satisfaction ("how
much I like things here") and commitment ("how much I want to be here") to engagement ("how much I want to, and actually do, improve the business
results") (Forde, 2014).
2.2How to engage?
Maintaining and improving employee engagement are increasingly complex for company's operations these days due to the instable environment and
varied economic conditions (Aon Hewitt, 2012). However, if a company has a good performance in employee engagement, it would surely enjoy
competitive advantage and better business outcomes than other companies.
According to Aon Hewitt (2012), "Engagement Drivers" model (Appendix 1) is developed. There are six major factors which can potentially drive an
individual's engagement, namely work, people, opportunities, total rewards, company practices and quality of life.

Employee Engagement Is Made Up Of Two Words, Employee And...
Employee Engagement
Employee Engagement is made up of two words, Employee and engagement. In simple words, it can be defined as an engagement or commitment of
an employee towards its organization. It is not entirely clear when the term "engagement" was first used in relation to work, but generally the Gallup
Organization is credited for coining the term somewhere in the 1990s( Schaufeli, 2013 p.2).
An engaged employee can be easily distinguished from disengaged one by simply asking a question. Ask an employee, what their company does?
An engaged employee will say we provide software services while a disengaged employee will say, they/Company provides software services. It is
evident from here that an engaged employee is involved completely to achieve the goals of company, hence will be more efficient and considers
himself as a part of the success of company. Various researches have also shown that engaged employees are much more efficient than disengaged ones,
which results in positives for an organisation.
An engaged employee feels involved in and excited about his work. Engaged employees produce at high levels individually, and contribute to
improved business results. In fact, Gallup research shows employee engagement can be linked to increased productivity and profitability, along with
benefits such as decreased turnover and absenteeism (Connolly, et al., 2013, p 48–52).An organisation with a higher number of engaged employees is
likely to be more effective, efficient

Online Brand Engagement Is Different From Offline...
Online brand engagement is qualitatively different from offline engagement as the nature of the customer's interactions with a brand, company and
other customers are different on the internet (Chak 2003). Verhoef et al. (2010) support that customer engagement consists of multiple
online–behaviors as blogging, customer ratings and e–word of mouth. Furthermore, they state that customer engagement is affected by firm initiatives,
customer characteristics, and environmental/contextual factors (Verhoef et al., 2010).
According to Sashi (2012) customer engagement is a topic that has had an emerging interest during the last years, based on the development of Internet
and the new tools that have emerged with it – Web 2.0 (Sashi, 2012). Due to the increasingly networking society customers can easily interact with
other customers and this non–transactional customer behavior has become more important for companies when developing their strategies (Verhoef et
al., 2010). Hollebeek et al. (2014) and van Doorn et al. (2010) mention how important the understanding of online brand engagement is in the social
media platforms as well as recognizing the opportunities for brand to extract value from their followers. Van Doorn (2010) supports also, that it is
important for companies to fully understand the impact of customer brand engagement since the digital world involves a broad audience with
immediacy breadth.

Employee Engagement
Definition
Let's face it; every employee has their own personal reasons for showing up to work every day. They may be supporting a family or buying a
home; they may be saving for that trip to Europe. In some cases, they may just be seeking knowledge or experience to add to their resume so they
can apply for their dream job in a few months or years. Employers and Human Resource Managers may never know the reasons potential employees
apply for jobs in their organizations. For many, a job, any job, is just a way to support their hopes and dreams or current lifestyle situation. They go to
work every day for the paycheck and not because they feel a connection to the company paying them. It is the responsibility of Human Resources and
management to engage employees. To do this, managers and organizations need to think of their employees as assets– their greatest assets. Employees
are the essence of products and services because they develop, deliver and support what customers experience every day (Bersin). Employees are the
heart of any organization. Leaders and managers are beginning to understand just how important engaging their employees can be to the bottom line.
Finding ways to engage employees can give organizations an advantage over their competitors in the marketplace. Although leaders recognize the
importance of engaging employees, not all of them truly understand what

Advantages Of Work Engagement
INTRODUCTION
In a book, The Truth about Burnout, Christina Maslach and Leiter defined work engagement as the opposite of burnout. This innovation answered an
important question. Rather than concede that the alternative to burnout is simply a neutral state, we proposed an active condition of energy,
involvement, and efficacy that we called work engagement. These three qualities are the direct opposite of burnout's exhaustion, cynicism, and
inefficacy.
Engagement is a term used to describe a work–related, positive state of mind, reflecting a person's passion and commitment for how he/she makes a
living. Engaged employees work proactively. They expand their own thinking and seek to broaden their horizons by learning new skills and
tackling new challenges. These workers find their tasks interesting and energizing but most importantly, engaged workers are happier on their jobs.
Since work is such a big part of all of our lives, wellbeing on the job has a great impact upon whether or not we're satisfied with our lives as a whole.

Community Life And Civic Engagement
Community life and civic engagement are a huge responsibility of citizens, although it is not required by citizens, it is an important aspect of a
proper citizen. Residents of a community have the constant responsibility of making the society around them reflect an advance in the eminence of
lives in the community. The simple duty of any citizen is to give to the common good. Civic responsibilities are achieved by volunteering and
choice. Volunteering, involving in positive organizations and aids, or tutoring people in certain subjects, are all ways that people can subsidize to the
good of the community. Small deeds that seem to prosper someone in some way or the other is still a way of helping. To learn something from the
assistance that one does to another, the deed does not have to be big, as long as the person providing the assistance is doing it with a good heart they can
always acknowledge a lesson. Compassion and love is necessary in helping others. When people have the opportunity to help others they may not
always get a gift in return, sometimes they may not even get a reply back. This is when the person has to realize that the purpose of helping someone
is not for the thank you or the gift, but is for the satisfaction of their soul, betterment of the other, and the ability to learn a lesson. Assisting people
needs to be done in a thoughtful and effective way for it to create a lasting impact on his/her self and on society itself.

Engagement Vs Involvement
Through this course, I have acquired the knowledge of various traits and characteristics that when properly utilized will advance me greatly in all
aspects of my life. The one subject that has been discussed that really struck home with me was the difference between involvement and engagement. I
always assumed that these particular words were synonyms of one and another. However, that is simply not the case.Engagement leads to the most
satisfaction of an individual, whereas involvement leads to the most retention for the individual. Looking back, the activities I enjoyed the most as a
youth all had these traits apart of them. The more I was engaged the more happiness and excitement I got as myself and the team progressed towards our

Employee Engagement : Measuring Retention
Employee Engagement
An additional factor to be considered is when measuring retention is employee engagement. Employee engagement is the degree to which a worker
believes in, or is committed to their work, field, and place of employment (Maslach, C. 2003; Harter, J., et al. 2006). The higher degree to which an
employee is engaged, the more likely they are to retain their position.
There are three levels of engagement in which an employee can be measured at (Catado, P. 2011); fully engaged, disengaged, and actively disengaged.
A fully engaged worker takes it upon themselves to stay relevant and up–to–date in company's and their professional field and take on additional
responsibilities as the opportunities arise. They also show respect towards their fellow colleagues, are willing to put in more effort than is expected,
and exhibit high levels of enthusiasm.
One who is disengaged see their work as time exchanged for a paycheck. These employees fulfill their essential duties but contribute nothing more.
They come on time and leave on time, and rarely if ever volunteer for extra responsibility. The third level at which How actively disengaged employees
differentiate themselves is they regularly voice their dissatisfaction with their positions and undermine their fellow colleagues. While the Institute for
Employment Studies found actively disengaged employees make up only about 15–18% of the work force (Catado, P. 2011), the negativity they bring
to the environment can affect

Engagement Stones
When shopping for engagement rings, you are probably used to hearing words like "round cut", "princess cut", "emerald cut", "oval cut," etc., but
what about the "Asscher cut?" The name sounds odd, doesn't it? It's no surprise that most people don't know that there is something called an
"Asscher cut" stone or what it is. The truth of the matter is that you've probably seen this particular cut before, even if it is less common than other
stones. Previously, very few stores carried these stones, but due to several celebrities receiving them as engagement rings, as well as some placements
in very large television shows, their popularity has risen lately. Most jewelers now have these stones on hand, or they can easily be ordered for you.
The cut was created in 1902 by the Asscher brothers from Holland. The cut is somewhat like a octagon, and some jewelers even call it a "modified
cushion cut" ring. It looks like square–cut with trimmed corners to the naked eye. There are many steps within this diamond, which creates a mirror
effect. It is the combination of these effects that allows the diamond to appear to have more depth than it actually does. That said, it makes it even more

the "Asscher cut." The Royal Asscher cut has a high crown and 74 facets. You can see that the distinction can be like walking a very fine line;
however, it mainly boils down to the amount of facets within the ring. Both rings, to the naked eye, have very similar shapes and are very often
confused with square emerald stones. You can expect to pay a 10–20% premium for Royal Asscher cut

Employee Engagement Is The Active Pursuit Of These...
Job involvement is the degree to which an employee is engaged in and enthusiastic about performing their work. Employee engagement is the
heightened emotional and intellectual connection that an employee has for his/her job, organization, manager, or coworkers that, in turn, influences
him/her to apply additional discretionary effort to his/her work. An 'engaged' employee will understand and agree with the objectives of your business.
They will come to work feeling motivated and energised but unfortunately that's about it. 'Engagement' is the result of a passive acceptance of company
values and objectives. It helps increase productivity, to a point. The next step that every business should strive towards, is 'involvement'. An involved
employee will take an active role in the business. They will implement new initiatives, take ownership of himself and actively participate in driving
change.'Involvement' is the active pursuit of these objectives. An involved employee will help drive the organization forward and add value to your

Workforce Engagement At The Bunker Elementary
Workforce Engagement
Workforce engagement is the feeling of emotional connection someone has to their workplace. An engaged employee feels satisfied and enthusiastic
about their work. They feel valued, driven, and that they belong to part of a team. This is the way a school should feel for its employees. When
teachers and staff of a school are engaged in fulfilling the work of the school they show higher levels of performance and thereby increase the
achievement of students. Principals should know the engagement level of their staff and also any events or feelings that may impact that engagement
level.
Assess Workforce Engagement
The following information was gathered from an interview with Andrea Williams, principal of Theresa Bunker Elementary. Mrs. Williams first
shared the fact that this is a small school helps her stay close with the workforce and keep a close eye on the engagement level of the workforce at
this school. This school only has sixteen teachers and a handful of support staff. She is able to have daily informal interaction with each member of
the staff which helps her determine if anything is impacting their engagement. Because she knows each person and their family she is able to know
of someone in the family is ill or if other family stress may be impacting engagement. She gets to know each person and their personalities and
opinions from talking with the staff on a daily basis. She also is able to meet on a formal basis with each member of

A Research On Employee Engagement
Conclusion
The ability to attract, engage, develop and retain talent has been identified as increasingly more important to organizations (Lockwood, 2007). Engaged
employees are critical for the success of organizations as the work environment becomes leaner, more information–driven, and more competitive
(Wollard, 2011).
Dale Carnegie (2012) teamed with MSW Research and surveyed 1,500 employees to better understand the key drivers of employee engagement. Based
on their findings, the key drivers for engagement included an employee's relationship with their immediate supervisor, a belief in senior leadership,
and pride in working for the company. The attitude and actions of the immediate supervisor can enhance employee engagement or can create an
atmosphere where an employee becomes disengaged. Saks (2006) also supported these findings in his research as he found that engaged employees
are more likely to have a "high–quality relationship with their employer leading them to also have more positive attitudes, intentions, and behaviors"
(p.613).
Qualitative and quantitative research by Gallup also supported the importance of the supervisor or manager and his or her influence over individual
employee engagement (Harter, Schmidt & Hayes, 2002). Research by Aon Hewitt (2014) shows that leaders are the key to high employee engagement.
Per Aon Hewitt (2014), engaging leaders often think and act in different ways than do other leaders. Leaders can often have a multiplier

Culture and Employee Engagement: The Fruitful Investment

Culture and employee engagement has been one of the most debatable topics in the current years around the business world. Organization culture,
which can be defined as "the way that the values and actions of managers and employees create a unique business environment," plays a significant
role in shaping the path of the company (Dizik, 2016). It is a key affecting almost every aspect of the business including employee engagement. The
values, goals, and norms that the corporate culture exhibit can be reflected on the level of employee involvement and enthusiasm for work either
positively or adversely. Organizations tend to address its culture and employee engagement strategically and financially. Even though these two areas
promise to impose positive results on the business if addressed effectively, some companies may fail to do so.
There are numerous ways in which companies are able to address employee engagement and culture. The key in fostering high levels of both is to
show that there is more to work than just getting the job done. Creating a rapport in between employees and management is a good strategy. This can
be done by engaging with co–workers outside of work, such as recreational leagues or Christmas parties. This allows workers the time to relate

One of the most constant engagement ring trends of the moment is the Asscher cut engagement ring. In fact, almost 1 bride in 3 in the United States is

adds symmetry to a setting and the diamond can be set alone or surrounded with smaller diamonds for extra sparkle and bling.
The Asscher cut is also sometimes known as a modified cushion cut, or a square emerald cut. The distinctive feature of this sophisticated cut is the

  • 2. Examples Of Student Engagement In Math Wittrock–Engagement–1 Necolena Wittrock Student Engagement in Math City University of Seattle Student Engagement What is student engagement? Student engagement is when students are given "work that enables them to demonstrate and improve their awareness as competent and successful human beings" (Hall, 2015, p. 37). Teachers can learn and use strategies in their classrooms that will encourage students to be engaged in their learning. It is important to engage students and ensure that "all students have meaningful access to the content of lessons through active–engagement learning activities" (Feldman & Denti, 2004, p. 3). Furthermore, according to Wood & Turner–Vorbeck, "classroom discussion based on students' own ideas and solutions to problems is essential to learning" (as cited by Van De Walle, Karp, Bay –Williams, 2016, p. 27). Strategies for Student engagement There are many strategies teachers can use to engage students in lessons. "Rather than showing students how to do something, your role is to ask probing questions that keep students engaged in the productive struggle until they reach a solution" (Van De Walle et al., 2016, p.29). A strategy that is used to engage students in math is to connect real–life and mathematics. According to Attard (2012), "The incorporation of tasks that mirrored life–like situations appears to have been a strong factor in engaging students in mathematics tasks, as were the tasks that required the students to ... • 4. Anecdotal Evidence On The Classroom Engagement Anecdotal Evidence" Milman (2012) notes, the flipped or inverted classroom, used in K–12 and higher education, has been receiving attention. According to Milman (2012), advocates of the strategy make numerous benefits known, for example – increasing classroom engagement. Milman (2012) notes there are both advantages (it seems to be a good fit to teach procedural knowledge) and disadvantages (students may not watch the videos and or it may not be the best way to learn the concept). Additionally Milman (2012) notes, "no empirical research exists to substantiate its use" (p. 2); however, many instructors support its use as a teaching strategy. According to Hamdan, McKnight, McKnight, and Arfstrom, (2013) both quantitative and qualitative research is limited; however, there is research that supports the model and the instruction of strategies that engage students in learning. Hamdan et al (2013) state Flipped Learning "has been mainly a grassroots movement" (p. 9), although more administrators and parents are researching this teaching method. Speak Up's annual online survey (Fall of 2012) contained questions specific to the Flipped Learning method, 6% of respondents indicated they were using some form of video enhancement and 18% of teachers indicated interest in trying the method (Hamdan, McKnight, McKnight, & Arfstrom, 2013). In Addition, 60% of grade 6–12 students agreed this method would be a good way for them to learn (Hamdan et al., 2013). Sophia, an online ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Employee Engagement : A Positive Emotional Attachment Employee engagement has gained rapid attention in the past five to ten years and all for the right reasons. Data shows that engaged employees tend to perform better at their jobs and also surpass expectations when it comes to helping colleagues, members and the organization. Employee engagement can be defined as a positive emotional attachment that a person forms with an organization leading to behaviors that drive productivity and boost performance. From the employee perspective, my current employer sees engagement more like a system than a goal. Scott Adams, creator of the Dilbert comic strip, emphasizes the difference between goals and systems in his book "How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big." If engagement just becomes a goal, a percentage to reach the organization will be in a constant state of failure until they succeed and then there's nothing to pursue afterwards. But when there's a system for employee engagement, there's a continuous effort to become better which in turn provides a sense of fulfillment to the employer and the employee. "Goal–oriented people exist in a state of continuous pre–success failure at best, and permanent failure at worst if things never work out. Systems people succeed every time they apply their systems, in the sense that they did what they intended to do. The goals people are fighting the feeling of discouragement at each turn. The systems people are feeling good every time they apply their system. That's a big difference in terms of maintaining your personal energy in the right direction." When an organization makes it a priority to create a strong connection between the organization and the purpose and identity of an employee, it makes it much more likely that he or she will be ... • 7. Community Engagement In The Community Engaging ourselves as well as engaging in the community with issues of our society makes us open to different things. Community engagement is the process of working with individuals and groups to achieve specific goals. It involves community members with making decisions and taking action. This process of creating a relationship with community members in society that can maintain a mission with an ultimate goal of making something better. It's an ongoing process with collaborative work, cooperative dialogue, collective decisions and shared ownership. There are many different activities that community engagement is involved with, which are community service, internships, voter's registration, service–learning and etc. The primary focus of community engagement is the practice of moving communities towards change. The transformation from high school to college was very big for me. Only because I was a loner and I didn't really get involved with groups nor did I have a social life outside of playing basketball. When I came to college I made up in my mind that I was going to change. Once I was introduced to the four pathways that Methodist offered I decide to choose community engagement. Community engagement fits me best because it gives me a chance to interact with people and also voices my opinion. I wanted to work on enhancing this aspect because I'm a very shy person with a lot to say. The program would also give me some good information to learn from and gain knowledge. ... • 8. How Employee Engagement Can Be Highly Affected By... It has been pointed out that organizational success in winning customer loyalty and a bigger share of the marketplace often accompanies by the actively engaged and loyal employees, especially in today's flatter, more networked organizations. Leadership communication plays a vital role in generating this kind of commitment. Unfortunately, it appears that most efforts to shape an engaged culture are being missed fromleadership communication (Tourish and Hargie 2009). Gallup (2013) conducted a survey revealing that only 13 percent of all employees are "highly engaged" at work, and 24 percent are "actively disengaged." This means that there still remains confused about how can build up the engagement of employees through leadership communication despite the fact that there is a great deal of interest in this field. This essay will analyze how employee engagement can be highly affected by leadership communication. It will also argue that communicative leaders are more effective in building more engaged and cooperative workplaces through enacting communicative leadership. Specifically, this essay will begin by briefly reviewing literatures from engagement and leadership communication. We then develop notions that link leadership communication to the employee engagement through four central communication behaviors of leaders. The challenge presented by the literature is the lack of a universal definition of employee engagement. Most managers acknowledge the fact that employee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Improving Student Engagement And Motivation Reinforcing these ideas, Omar, Hassan, & Atan (2012) found in an online course the goal is to gain and keep the learner's attention. Furthermore, engaging the learner by utilizing activities that capture their attention and build on their previous knowledge and interests will be beneficial to the students' growth in the course. Facilitating student engagement and motivation, teachers are encouraged to provide constant and consistent feedback which includes questions and activities which spark reflection (Larsen, 2012). Additionally, the use of reflection was found to be a critical element to designing an effective online course (Iskander, 2014). Larsen (2012) found that one method of creating effective interactivity is to incorporate activities using reflection. Using reflection, learners are expected to communicate how the content relates to their own lives as well as any prior knowledge they may have about the content (Verpoorten, Westera, & Specht, 2012). The creation of activities using reflection effectively can be as simple as the teacher creating 'dig deeper' type questions for the students to answer about the content of the lesson. Additional studies by Barrett (2013) and Grosso, Smith, & Grosso (2012) found that effective online teachers facilitate deeper thinking by posing additional questions to students as they answer the initial questions. Legal Memorandum: Facts: In Massachusetts law, John Smith and Patty Jones were engaged. John Smith proposed to Patty Jones on February 14th, 2014. Upon proposal, John presented Patty with a 2–carat diamond engagement ring. Three months ago from now, John Smith caught Patty Jones having an affair with Brian Wilkinson. Brian Wilkinson is a best friend with John Smith. John called off the engagement. John demanded that Patty return the engagement ring. Patty refused to return the engagement ring. Patty claims that it was a "gift" from John. John now wants to hire a lawyer to represent him in a potential lawsuit. Legal Issue: John Smith and Patty Jones were engaged with full intentions to marry one another. John Smith presented Patty Jones with an engagement ring. Patty Jones believes and argues that John Smith gave the 2–carat diamond ring to her as an unconditional gift. An unconditional gift being a gift that is given to one person by another, with no expectation of anything in return. John Smith would argue that the engagement ring was given to her as a contract. This means that the ring was given as a contract to one day be married to one another. Which would make the affair a breach and break off the contract; therefore returning the ring back to John Smith Legal Discussion: Assuming that everything John Smith has presented to ... It is a level of commitment and involvement an employee has towards their organization and its values. An engaged employee feels a sense of purpose and belonging, and has the drive to improve performance for the overall benefit of the organization. Effective engagement of one employee will motivate others, inspiring the entire atmosphere of the workplace to where all employees are focused on their organization's success. According to Gallup's 2013 State of the Global Workplace study, only 13 percent of employees across 142 countries are engaged at work. The study also revealed that 63 percent are disengaged and almost a quarter of all employees are actively disengaged (Gallup, 2013). Engaged employees are crucial to protecting the competitive positioning of an organization. Bolman and Deal (2013) state how "a skilled and motivated workforce is a powerful source of competitive advantage" (p. 133). However, recognizing a strong and highly motivated workforce that is committed to a company's mission and objectives can be a challenge. Engaged employees have a clear understanding of their roles in business strategy and deliver greater performance; they get more involved as well as having a strong connection and commitment to the company and strive to go above and beyond in their jobs (Aon Hewitt, 2012). Aon Hewitt (2012) also mentions that engagement is about measuring the state of emotional and intellectual involvement or commitment of the workforce. It goes beyond satisfaction ("how much I like things here") and commitment ("how much I want to be here") to engagement ("how much I want to, and actually do, improve the business results") (Forde, 2014). 2.2How to engage? Maintaining and improving employee engagement are increasingly complex for company's operations these days due to the instable environment and varied economic conditions (Aon Hewitt, 2012). However, if a company has a good performance in employee engagement, it would surely enjoy competitive advantage and better business outcomes than other companies. • 16. Employee Engagement Is Made Up Of Two Words, Employee And... Employee Engagement Employee Engagement is made up of two words, Employee and engagement. In simple words, it can be defined as an engagement or commitment of an employee towards its organization. It is not entirely clear when the term "engagement" was first used in relation to work, but generally the Gallup Organization is credited for coining the term somewhere in the 1990s( Schaufeli, 2013 p.2). An engaged employee can be easily distinguished from disengaged one by simply asking a question. Ask an employee, what their company does? An engaged employee will say we provide software services while a disengaged employee will say, they/Company provides software services. It is evident from here that an engaged employee is involved completely to achieve the goals of company, hence will be more efficient and considers himself as a part of the success of company. Various researches have also shown that engaged employees are much more efficient than disengaged ones, which results in positives for an organisation. An engaged employee feels involved in and excited about his work. Engaged employees produce at high levels individually, and contribute to improved business results. In fact, Gallup research shows employee engagement can be linked to increased productivity and profitability, along with benefits such as decreased turnover and absenteeism (Connolly, et al., 2013, p 48–52).An organisation with a higher number of engaged employees is likely to be more effective, efficient ... Online brand engagement is qualitatively different from offline engagement as the nature of the customer's interactions with a brand, company and other customers are different on the internet (Chak 2003). Verhoef et al. (2010) support that customer engagement consists of multiple online–behaviors as blogging, customer ratings and e–word of mouth. Furthermore, they state that customer engagement is affected by firm initiatives, customer characteristics, and environmental/contextual factors (Verhoef et al., 2010). According to Sashi (2012) customer engagement is a topic that has had an emerging interest during the last years, based on the development of Internet and the new tools that have emerged with it – Web 2.0 (Sashi, 2012). Due to the increasingly networking society customers can easily interact with other customers and this non–transactional customer behavior has become more important for companies when developing their strategies (Verhoef et al., 2010). Hollebeek et al. (2014) and van Doorn et al. (2010) mention how important the understanding of online brand engagement is in the social media platforms as well as recognizing the opportunities for brand to extract value from their followers. Van Doorn (2010) supports also, that it is important for companies to fully understand the impact of customer brand engagement since the digital world involves a broad audience with immediacy breadth. Organizational Behavior : Employee Engagement Amy Young Dr. Evelyn Hendrix Organizational Behavior 7 January 2016 Employee Engagement Definition Let's face it; every employee has their own personal reasons for showing up to work every day. They may be supporting a family or buying a home; they may be saving for that trip to Europe. In some cases, they may just be seeking knowledge or experience to add to their resume so they can apply for their dream job in a few months or years. Employers and Human Resource Managers may never know the reasons potential employees apply for jobs in their organizations. For many, a job, any job, is just a way to support their hopes and dreams or current lifestyle situation. They go to work every day for the paycheck and not because they feel a connection to the company paying them. It is the responsibility of Human Resources and management to engage employees. To do this, managers and organizations need to think of their employees as assets– their greatest assets. Employees are the essence of products and services because they develop, deliver and support what customers experience every day (Bersin). Employees are the heart of any organization. Employee engagement is the degree to which a worker believes in, or is committed to their work, field, and place of employment (Maslach, C. 2003; Harter, J., et al. 2006). The higher degree to which an employee is engaged, the more likely they are to retain their position. There are three levels of engagement in which an employee can be measured at (Catado, P. 2011); fully engaged, disengaged, and actively disengaged. A fully engaged worker takes it upon themselves to stay relevant and up–to–date in company's and their professional field and take on additional responsibilities as the opportunities arise. They also show respect towards their fellow colleagues, are willing to put in more effort than is expected, and exhibit high levels of enthusiasm. The third level at which How actively disengaged employees differentiate themselves is they regularly voice their dissatisfaction with their positions and undermine their fellow colleagues. • 35. A Research On Employee Engagement Conclusion The ability to attract, engage, develop and retain talent has been identified as increasingly more important to organizations (Lockwood, 2007). Engaged employees are critical for the success of organizations as the work environment becomes leaner, more information–driven, and more competitive (Wollard, 2011). Dale Carnegie (2012) teamed with MSW Research and surveyed 1,500 employees to better understand the key drivers of employee engagement. Based on their findings, the key drivers for engagement included an employee's relationship with their immediate supervisor, a belief in senior leadership, and pride in working for the company. The attitude and actions of the immediate supervisor can enhance employee engagement or can create an atmosphere where an employee becomes disengaged. Saks (2006) also supported these findings in his research as he found that engaged employees are more likely to have a "high–quality relationship with their employer leading them to also have more positive attitudes, intentions, and behaviors" (p.613). Qualitative and quantitative research by Gallup also supported the importance of the supervisor or manager and his or her influence over individual employee engagement (Harter, Schmidt & Hayes, 2002).
