The Effect of Helicopter Parents "No Escape from 'Helicopter Parents'" by Felix Carroll discusses
the problem that baby boomers are becoming over–protective of their children and are not letting
them live independently. Carroll tells about helicopter parents to make the point that children of
baby boomers are being suffocated by their parents. My own experience with helicopter parents
yields a point that is both similar and different. What I take away from my own experience with
helicopter parents is that many parents hover over their children because they feel their kids have
found things of better interest. As a result, I conclude that helicopter parents are not seen ... Show

Secondly, kids tend to have a closer relationship with their parents because their parents have now
become more of a friend to them instead of an authority. Carroll speaks of Mark Gamsjager, saying
"He skateboards and snowboards with his two boys, Austin, 13, and Thomas, 9" (Carroll 32). This
type of relationship will be beneficial when Mark's children grow older because they will have
something in common with him and it will continue to keep the relationship close. I have a similar
relationship with my parents and it has been nothing but beneficial to me. Eighteen years compared
to a lifetime is not very long so it is important that kids develop close relationships with their
parents before it is time to move off to college. I am grateful that my father is a helicopter parents
because I was able to spend a great amount of time with him before I moved out. Carroll ultimately
proves his point that helicopter parents are a negative influence on their children because parents are
"too obsessed with your children. You treat them like little princes and princesses...and by the time
they get to college and are asked who their hero is, your child will cay those words you long to hear:
My dad. My mom" (Carroll 32). One of many reasons why helicopter parenting is a downfall is
because students with over–protective parents tend to lack self–reliance and independence once they
are on their own. Because everything has been done for them by their parents, many students once

Pros And Cons Of Helicopter Parents Fear For The Future
Helicopter Parents Fear for The Future A parent who takes an overprotected or excessive interest in
the life of their child or children are known as "Helicopter parents." With so much going on in this
world there is no question why helicopter parents exist. We have school shootings, police brutality,
jobs being outsourced to other countries and sexual violence. Parents want their children to be safe
and make sure they will make it in this world but it's hard when you're not prepared or you don't
know what can happen. Millennials face many challenges and these are just a sum of some of those
many challenges School and/or campus shootings have become a big problem. The first known
school shooting was the Pontiac's Rebellion school massacre on July 26, 1764, where four Lenape
American Indian entered the schoolhouse near present–day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and
killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and killed nine or ten children only two children survived. Just in

Twenty percent of young women who attended college during the past four years say they were

they were coerced into sex through verbal threats or promises. There was a very interesting case

Helicopter Parents Should Be A Serious Issue
Every now and then, we hear worried parents give a call to university officers, asking them to take
care of their children. Additionally, some of them compel their children to make decisions based on
what the parents want, believing that children are not mature enough and that it is the shortcut for
their children to succeed. Whether helicopter parents should be a serious issue has raised a wide of
variety of debate in society. In my viewpoint, helicopter parents have become a severe problem
nowadays. The first reason is that parents are more apt to intervene in their children's lives than
before due to circumstance, so there are more helicopter parents than before. The second reason is
that those children with helicopter parents are inclined to have mental problems, rely on others
more, and are vulnerable compared to normal children. Once they leave their parents, they are not
capable of solving problems by themselves, and hence, cannot adapt themselves to the competitive
environment and lose the opportunity to succeed. There is a controversy over whether helicopter
parents are prevalent. In the articles "Kids of Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out" by Julie
Lythcott–Haims, the author believes helicopter parents widely exist owing to the fact that she has
met numerous students who did not show interest in their study or activities, while serving as a dean
in Stanford University. They did so not because of their own will but because of the requirement
from their parents.

How Does Helicopter Parenting Affect Children
Prompt 1: The problem with helicopter parenting
Some parents believe that protecting their children and over focusing on their children at all time
can be advantageous for their children. However, that's not always the case. Parents over focusing
on theirs children can have a lot of negative effects on the kids. Some parents are doing everything
they can for their children and that's a good thing, yet, doing everything for the kids when their kids
are adult can lead to some problems too. There are two reasons I believe that helicopter parenting is
harmful for the children, such as the children don't know how to become independent, and the
children unable to learn social skills.
When parents are over protective and do everything for their kids, ... Show more content on

Most of the kids that have helicopter parents do not know how to share food, or stand up for
themselves because their parents are protect them all the time. Kids need to have good manner to
interact among their peers or maintain friendship. And usually kid with self –discipline in terms of
social skills, they know how to behave politely. However, unlike regular kid, over controlling
parents kids don't know how to maintain friendship because they lack social cues. The over
protecting kid don't know how to keep up the conversation with others, and they usually act like a
kid. They have hard time get along with other people because they are narcissistic compared to the
children who grew up independent. According to the Don Aucoin article, the author state that, "High
level of oversight and supervision, keep tabs on their kids but not interfering in every activity or
decision", If the parents are keeping tabs on their kids, the kids can do nothing on their own and also
the kids do not learn social skills like other people. In order for the kids to practice their social
skills, the parents need to have let their kids interact with people more no matter how worry they

Concerned Mother And In Defense Of Helicopter Parents
Parent involvement in schools is positive to the extent that the child is encouraged and getting help
on their homework when they need it. If the child is neglected the influence that they need from
their parents, they would think that there would be no use to study and get good grades. The letter
from a "Concerned Mother" and the article, "In Defense of Helicopter Parents" by Lisa Belkin from
the New York Times, show evidence of parent influence being beneficial to a child. The influence of
parents will help encourage their children to not give up, causing their determination to grow. Parent
involvement from an early age will affect how they grow up academically. It is clear that parent
involvement is helpful to the extent that they are willing to go further to help their child's
independence grow.
First of all, parent involvement will protect kids from mistakes too big for them ... Show more

For example, if a parent notices that their child's grades have been going down, they will feel like
their child is encouraged enough to be focusing on classwork. Being a parent, they will find
numerous ways how to help their child, including encouraging them. A parent's influence will give a
child more determination. In the letter from a "Concerned Mother," the text stated, "Just like athletes
or musicians whose parents attend all their practices, kids whose parents volunteer in their
classrooms know they have someone cheering for them every step of the way." This is significant
because the "concerned mother," who has experience because in her letter she noted that she had a
son, strongly believes that the encouragement of parents will improve their grades. She compares
middle schoolers to athletes and musicians, who are usually respected for their talent. In summary,
the involvement of parents includes supporting their child, which increases the child's

Emergency Response Pilot
When there is a car crash on the highway, everyone slows down to gape at the wreckage. However,
few have ever seen a truly horrific, heavily gory accident in which a Medivac helicopter has come to
rush victims off to safety. Air–medical transport saves lives every day in a plethora of situations.
Being a part of the Hawaii Air Ambulance team allows one to be the best pilot they could be in a
field whose purpose is saving lives. To be an Emergency Response helicopter pilot requires an
extensive amount of skills, certifications and experience. One must have good concentration skills,
be calm, collected and focused. One must be analytical and have a high level of mechanical

preferred that one has Emergency Medical Service flight experience, Night Vision Goggle
experience, and EC135 specific experience. All Hawaii Air Ambulance pilots wear the same
company issued blue jumpsuits. If one meets the specifications and qualifications, saving lives

Aerial Photography: Capturing Spectacular Images Up in the...
The Main Branches & the Many Uses of Aerial Photography
Watching Tony Stark controlling his Ironman suit to save the 13 passengers of the Air Force One
from facing imminent deaths by free–falling at 30, 000 feet was one of the highlights of the Ironman
3 movie.
The heart–stopping action scene, which captures the spectacular aerial view of Miami, left
audiences in awe because of how magnificent the city looks when viewed up in the air.
So, how do blockbuster movies (like the Ironman series) capture unique bird's–eye–view images of
various cities, skyscrapers and people from different angles?
With the use of aerial photography, cinematographers can capture unique and visually stunning
images that are unlike the ones they get from shooting at a ground level.
What is Aerial Photography?
Aerial photography is a method of capturing photographs that are taken from a high point or
elevated location. It captures different subjects from a completely new perspective, thereby
producing shots that are great and unique. Aerial photographs are taken from an aircraft such as
drones, balloons, helicopters, parachutes, satellites, kites, etc.
Why Use Aerial Photography?
Aerial photography can be a challenging yet rewarding experience because it can give you
spectacular and memorable aerial photos that are different from terrestrial photographs. Unlike
ground level photography, aerial photography enables you to view the whole area and observe
everything, rather than just a

quad rotor UAS to support We Sell Anything real estate's marketing campaign of local lake front

Sell Anything will face will include buying the quad rotor UAS and support equipment, and
purchasing a high definition camera. I would recommend the DJI Phantom 3 Professional with the
upgraded "Everything you Need" kit. The Phantom 3 Professional is advertised as easy to fly, comes
with a built in 4k stabilized camera, auto pilot features, and video editing software, while the kit

any violations or the exemption. The COA uitilized in this case will fall under a FAA interim policy
that grants a blanket COA which allows operators with a section 333 exemption to operate a UAS
that is less than 55 lbs, under 200 feet, with in VLOS, and day VFR conditions ("FAA Streamlines",

Ethically, if We Sell Anything abides by all applicable exemptions, laws, and regulations, they will
continue to operate as an honest company. One possible ethical hurdle could involve any operations

operate the UAS out of the exemption limitations or use the students to profit, they should be able to

Analytical Summary: "How helicopter parents are ruining college students"
In Amy Joyce's On Parenting article, "How helicopter parents are ruining college students" posted
on September 2, 2014, Joyce addresses the issue with parents who controls their college student's
life to the public. Amy's exigence is from an article recently published in the journal Education +
Training found that there is an important line to draw between parental involvement and over–
parenting.
Joyce got information from the President of Frostburg State University, Jonathan Gibralter, who has
had parents call him at his office to talk about a squabble their child is having with a roommate,
"Don't you trust your child to deal with this on his own?" he asks. "Rather than telling a son or
daughter to talk to a [resident assistant] or [resident director], parents will immediately call my
office. And that I consider to be a little over the top." (Joyce) Kids who raised by parents who
choose everything they have wanted and even dictated their every move. Recognizing the idea of
"overbearing parents," Gibralter relived the idea stated above, "when I was going to college in
1975.... My mother helped me unload into the dorm room put a note on the door saying this is the
way we wash our clothes," Gibralter said. "I didn't find out until years later that she cried all the way
home because she realized I was going to be independent." (Joyce) Some may believe

Negative Affects Of Helicopter Parents
Negative Affects of Helicopter Parents in Youth Sport Throughout my whole life all I could really
remember is playing sports and always playing them very competitively, and having my parents
very involved. There was a lot of pressure put on me from a young age, all the way up into even
now playing college football. I was raised with "helicopter" parents rather than the "laid back"
parents. The best moments I can remember is just throwing the football around and playing small
games in the neighborhood, no pressure just simply playing because I want to. Unnecessary pressure
on sport from parents and what style of parenting is something I have put a lot of time and effort
into studying. Putting to much pressure on your kids in sport could lead to; physiological affects,
bad relationship with the parents, eating disorders, burnout of sports all together, kid not reaching
his/her full potential, being a "helicopter parent" leads to children being afraid to voice their
opinion, or afraid to fail, or even act as who they are and not what there parents want them to be.
While there is know perfect way to be a parent while your child is playing youth sports, the majority
of parents in my generation are putting to much pressure on their children and being "helicopter"
parents, which could lead to many negative consequences. There are many interpretations of what a
helicopter parent is, one of my favorites comes from authors Foster W. Cline and Jim Fay from their

Helicopter Parents Bad
Helicopter Parents: Good or Bad?
The most important milestone of being an adult is independence from your parents, including
finding a job, a place to live and, for most, a spouse or partner, and starting your own family.
"Helicopter Parents" a term used to describe parents who are over clingy or overly influenced in
their child's life. Scientists and teachers are afraid that since it is so easy to keep in touch with
people nowadays it is almost impossible for a young adult to develop their own decision–making
skills and autonomy. This paper will examine viewpoint, one, two, and my viewpoint on helicopter
parents.
For starters, helicopter parents are uncontrollable and do not give their child enough space to
develop their own independence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, not most people know what a helicopter parent is, and cannot even distinguish one from a
regular parent. For example, Sharon Jayson, author of USA Today, shares "The line between a
caring and involved parent and a hovering "Helicopter parent" is getting even murkier. New
research says it is a distinct form of parenting that can have positive effects towards young adults"
(Jayson). Thus, there is a distinct difference between a caring parent and a helicopter parent.
Secondly, parents are supposed to be loving and in–contact with their child. For instance, Jayson
reports helicopter parents might be privacy invaders and sometimes controlling, but done out of
strong parental concern for their kids success. Therefore, helicopter parents only want the absolute
best for their kid. Thirdly, it is found that millennial kids need more support and more strict parents
to be successful. To illustrate, Jayson shows a study published in August, Journal of Marriage and
Family that shows young adults have better psychological tuning than those who do not have
intense backing–monetary, help and emotional. Hence, more involved and over caring parents are
helpful both emotional and physical. For all these reasons, helicopter parents are just like any over
caring, emotionally helpful, and guiding parent that stands

Drones Artifact
Agricultural drones 2a.Agricultural drones are unmanned aerial vehicles that are used for soil and
field analysis. They can produce accurate 3D maps that can conduct soil analysis on numerous soil
properties. The goal of precision agriculture or drones is to more efficiently apply a farm's limited
resources to gain maximum yield (Nixon). They can also irrigate crops and analyze crops, deciding
which are healthy and which are not more effectively than farmers. My artifact conveys the function
of these drones by having depictions of them doing some of their jobs and it compares them to
traditional farming, showing higher efficiency. 2b.I used Adobe Photoshop to create my artifact.

Drones can collect data in a lot of different ways. They can use 3D mapping to analyze soil. They
can use this data to decide seed planting patterns, irrigation, and to monitor nitrogen levels. They
can also have hyperspectral, multispectral, or thermal sensors to identify which crops are more dry
or needs improvements. This data allows for the drone to decide which areas need more attention.
By scanning a crop using both visible and near–infrared light, drone–carried devices can identify
which plants reflect different amounts of green light and NIR light. This information can produce
multispectral images that track changes in plants and indicate their health. A speedy response can
save an entire orchard. Distance–measuring equipment–ultrasonic echoing and lasers such as those
used in the light–detection and ranging, or LiDAR, method–enables a drone to adjust altitude as the
topography and geography vary, and thus avoid collisions. All this data is used through various
cameras and imaging to make the drones effective at keeping crops healthy. With such a large
amount of data usage and storage comes a large amount of data security concerns. The FBI and
USDA believe that cyber attackers might target the farming industry by stealing farm–level data in
bulk (information about soil content, past crop yields, planting recommendations, etc.) or destroying
it in protest. They have also warned the attacker may encrypt collected data and hold it for ransom
(Zorz). If these do

Who Is Helicopter Parents?
There are many different ways that a parent can raise their children and no one way is wrong. From
the moms who do everything for their kids to the moms who let their kids discover the world on
their own, love their kids. My sister and I are complete opposites when it comes to raising our
children. Where she is a helicopter mom, I am a free range parent. She is a stay at home mother,
while I am a working mom. She is a mom who encourages electronics, and I am a mom who
encourages imagination and outside time.
Helicopter parents are often judged for being too clingy and smothering with their kids. This type of
parenting is when a mother or a father does the tasks that a child is capable of doing on their own.
For instance, my sister still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of parenting is more of a hands off approach with children. It is where a parent lets their
child do things on their own like it was done back when the parents were still kids themselves. The
parents want their kids to discover the world and have the freedom of making decisions for
themselves. This type of freedom usually gives children a sense of self–confidence, happiness, and
self–sufficiency. For example, instead of hovering around my kids while they are playing I let them
go outside by themselves and ride their bikes up and down our street. Although I can still see them
while looking out the window they get the feeling they are doing this by themselves and I can see
the happiness on their face. Just like helicopter parenting, free range isn't for everyone, but it works
for my family and it is good for my children.
Being a stay at home mom is not an easy job and they should be applauded for what they are giving
to their children. A stay at home mom is with their children all day and all night long. They have
many jobs which include being a cook, nurse, and chauffer. My sister loves staying home with her
kids and being able to watch them grow up. She doesn't have to miss any important milestones or
school functions because she has to be at work. Those are some of the great benefits of staying at

Essay about Parental Involvement in Education: Helicopter...
Parents and teachers both hold that responsibility to teach and guide children into the right direction.
When discussing parental involvement, it seems almost natural that a parent would want to be
involved in their child's education. There are so many factors of why parents are not involved.
Despite the recent backlash against so–called "helicopter parents", parental involvement in school is
necessary for student success.
Research has clearly established that it is more beneficial for children to have parents that are
involved in their education and activities. (Mikulecky, 1996).The media has negatively portrayed
parents who seem to be over–involved. "Helicopter parent" has been the phrase used to describe
over–involved parents. Parental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schools constantly complain about parents that are not active, but want to complain when they are.
This could be the reason why parents are not involved. Parents feel like when they intervene; they
become the bad person in the eyes of the school. University administrators and school officials need
to rethink their relationship with parents. Schools look at parents as being annoying, instead of
appreciating parents who are active. Parents can be an important part of the equation. Parents, who
are involved in their student's education, have students who are more likely to succeed both
academically and socially. If admission personal and school officials are sending out a message to
parents that they are an important part of the educational process, the parental involvement may
increase significantly. It is time to change our views on parental involvement. We must stop viewing
parents as a hindrance and embrace them as partners. Parents ARE part of the educational process.
(Shore, 1998)
There is research that strongly indicats that the most effective forms of parental involvement are
those which engage parents in working directly with their child on learning activities. Children's
perceptions change when they know their parents are getting involved in their homework. There
should be two–way communication between the schools and the child's parent through daily student
agendas, phone calls and meetings

Life Isn T Fair, The Sooner You Learn That The Better

They would give my sibling something and not me or they would punish me in a way I felt I didn't
deserve. I would say to them what they were doing wasn't fair. I repeatedly heard the words, "life
isn't fair, the sooner you learn that the better". At the time, this was frustrating to me because I felt
that everything should be fair. My parents were right, life certainly isn't fair. In an article in The
Atlantic, Matthew Hutson, who has a B.S. in cognitive neuroscience, says, "no life life's not fair.
And in a cruel twist, our wish to see it as fair keeps us from making it so." (Hutson 1) If life was
fair, no one would be homeless, no one would have health issues, and there would be no poor or
rich. Raising children to believe that life is fair is setting them up for disappointment. Parents can
only protect their children for so long. Eventually, the child will have an unfair experience that no
one can change. The child needs to have the proper preparation for these experiences. The way to
prepare them is to allow them to have those experiences while they are younger. Two men go to a
job interview. One man has a lot more experience and knowledge than the other, yet he doesn't get
the job. This is an unfair occurrence but the man's mother couldn't make a call and change the
interviewers mind. Disappointment comes to everyone; the difference is how we handle it.
Protecting children from disappointment keeps them from learning how to pick themselves up and

One of the great joys of being a parent is sharing in your children's achievements. Your excitement

Sharing their experiences places the focus on them. The emphasis is on what the experience means

fallacies. However, the structure of her argument is relatively sound. If all of her premises were

Parenting Producing Helicopter Parents And Tiger Moms

Look out above.
Regardless of who you are or where you come from there's one instrumental factor we all share. We
all were raised by a parent, parents, or guardian that was key in who we became. While like many
things Americans cannot seem to agree on which stratagem is best in child rearing it is indelible that
the common goal of every parent is for their son or daughter to succeed and find happiness in life.
However, this has given rise to some extreme forms of parenting producing helicopter parents and
tiger moms; Parents that feel the need to control every aspect of their child's life to either keep them
safe or make them the "best" when compared to others. In the end everyone wants to be a good
parent, but helicopter parents and other groups like them are, in the long term, hindering more than
helping their child towards a successful future.

focus and outcomes have (Morman). Even looking back on my own childhood and that of some of

Most research evidence is supporting the idea that helicopter parenting is harmful. It's clear that
there has been changes in recent years with students and the common factor happens to be
helicopter parenting. Mothers and fathers are their raising children that have had their abilities and
self–assurance stripped away to be held by them. Being loving and supportive is also not enough to
help reverse the damage done by the smothering involvement so, no matter how helicopter parents
go about managing their children, they're still managing their children. The only way to solve this
problem is for parents to learn how to let go and find other ways to engage with their child without
controlling them, they must put their trust in them and believe that the young adult they raised is as
talented and gifted enough of a person as they believe them to

Kids Of Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out
Dear Ms. Lythcott–Haims, While I was reading your article, "Kids of Helicopter Parents Are
Sputtering Out" I was given a glimpse of how stressful it must be for students who have helicopter
parents. Being what you would call a 'free ranger' myself, I had no problems with parental
interference when it came to my studies. In this letter to you I will strive to point out the strongest
and weakest parts of your article. You are able to use pathos, ethos and logos in several different
ways to get your point across. From what I could tell, the purpose of your article "Kids of
Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out" was to inform parents of the dangers helicopter parenting
has on college student's mental health as well as how it affects them in the long run. To summarize,
College students who have helicopter parents lack life skills which include effective decision
making and problem solving. These students lack the ability to interact properly with others also
they lack emotional and intellectual freedom along with executive functions. Additionally, they are
unable to cope with any negative feelings and new experiences and haven't been able to build
resilience in these areas. Without these abilities they aren't able to be a self–sufficient adult or make
any decision without involving their parent. The reference material you use indicates helicopter
parenting causes depression and anxiety and makes them unable to have confidence in their own
abilities which can also make them have

Argumentative Essay On Helicopter Parents
Parents that take an over productive or excessive interest in the life of their children is a helicopter
parent. These parents want to be part of every part of their children's life. Helicopter parents are a
really interesting topic. I topic that I have never really considered. Helicopter parents want the best
for their children, but are they really helping them? Research shows that helicopter parents can be
detrimental to a child's growth, independence, self–confidence, and overall well–being. I personally
never lived in a house of helicopter parents. I feel as if my parents felt as if they raised me correctly,
and never had a fear of me making a wrong decision. As soon as I hit my teenage years my parents
really started to pull back on control and let me have more and more free range to do what I wanted.
They trusted me to do the right thing. Throughout high school I didn't have a curfew or a bed time.
My parents knew I would make it home at a decent time and that I wanted to sleep more then
anything. So overall my high school years were pretty free over my parent's shadow, and because of
that I excelled in popularity, academics, and physical health. But, at the same time I ... Show more

like my parents, but I just don't have anything to say. If my parents started calling more often I
would get annoyed and start to ignore them more and more. I value their input and often go to them
for advice on big life choices such as careers, where to go to college, and relationship advice. But

Family Emotions: The Helicopter Parents Essay
Experiential family therapy is one that believes the root cause of the problems in the families is a
result of emotional suppression. This theory is focused on freedom experiencing emotions in the
here–and–now. Experiential family therapists believe clients should seek self–fulfillment and focus
on individual's roles in the family rather than on the family as a whole. In order to promote growth,
the individual and family must both grow. Once families are emotionally healthy, healthy
attachments can then be made. I am drawn to this approach because of its focus on the individual. I
believe that if individuals are healthy, family roles will become clearer and the system as a whole
will become healthier. It is similar to when a spoiled piece ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There is no special technique for this therapy, except for the personality of the therapist and the
assessment is done by the therapist getting to know the family (Nichols, 2014, p. 134). From this,
the therapist would then be able to determine what the next steps to assisting the family would be.
Carl Whitaker is another prominent figure in experiential family therapy, and he believed in having
a co–therapist minimize countertransference (Nichols, 2014, p. 137). For both Whitaker and Satir,
there are a number of expressive techniques to do with a family; including, family sculpting, family
puppet interviews, family art therapy, conjoint family drawings, and Gestalt therapy techniques, all
with toys, doll houses, stuffed animals, clay, batacca bats, and art supplies (Nichols, 2014, p. 137). I

With this technique, one family member is asked to make up a story using puppets and this well

each of my family members explaining many different shows with the same characters. How each

conflict is a result of not being able to communicate to each other what we are seeing and how we
are feeling. Each member could benefit from family puppet

Disadvantages Of Quadcopter
In the recent years, there has been an increasing interest in using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
in scientific, civilian, and military applications. Quadcopter UAV is defined as a small vehicle with
four rotor–propeller sets distributed around its body citep{Salih}. It is one of the most popular
designs for UAV due to their ability in vertical take–off and landing (VTOL), simplicity in its
mechanical configuration and ease of maintenance. In addition, the use of four small propellers in
quadcopter reduces the danger posed by the propellers if it touches external object as compared with
one big propeller in helicopter or airplane citep{Nemati}. One of the quadcopter types that gains
growing attention is the racing or high speed quadcopters due to their wide range of applications in
surveillance, search, rescue, fire fighting, UAV based delivery, and other similar missions. For
efficient surveillance tasks, it is important that the quadcopter has a precise control on its attitude,

Max Fleisher : A Short Story
The year was 2026, the time was 5:03 pm, it was 14–year–old, Max Fleisher's 365th day stranded
on a small patch of sand in the pacific. Right about now Max could remember the feeling of his
mom rubbing her hands through his luscious, slightly gelled, curly, lengthy blonde hair, then, him
staring down his little sister Mel with his piercing green eyes and him telling his father he loved him
for the very last time. The miserable day crossed Max's mind once again, the day he lost his whole
family in one shot. Oh, what a dreadful day it was. The day he regretted his one birthday wish of
going on a family boating trip on the Pacific, but not even brilliant little max could have thought
such a wonderful birthday could have such a terrible twist. Approximately 1 year ago, today, Max
and his mother, father, and 8–year–old sister Mel set sail on the family's new boat to celebrate Max's
13th birthday on the coast of the Pacific. For a while, it was nothing but laughs and smiles, cake was
eaten, board games upon board games were played, Ice–cream was devoured, and presents were
opened, the day could've even been considered perfect, up until a gray cloud appeared in the sky,
one after another a patch of dark, gloomy, scary and awfully large clouds showed itself. This is
when the old saying "don't rain on my parade" maybe would've come in handy. Maybe if someone

Helicopter Parents Essay
Within the past several years, I have seen many new ideas and theories as to how children should be
reared. One change that I have witnessed firsthand is the difference in the role a parent plays in their
child's life. In the article called "Helicopter Parents" Stir up Anxiety, Depression, the ideas
expressed were not the same my parents had when raising me. Some of the ideas expressed in said
article I resonated with as a child whose parents leaned towards being helicopters while others I did
not agree with as wholeheartedly.
One point made by the article was that being a "helicopter parent" causes the child to become to
dependent once they move away from home. While this is an issue, it does not appear to be as big of
a problem as the article implied. Of all the people I know, the worst form of dependency is an
individual being too financially dependent on their family. I personally believe that there can be a
healthy level of guarding your children. For example, while growing up, my family never allowed ...

Does Helicopter Parents Negatively Affects One's Life
Parents are the most important and influential people in someone's life, but is there such a thing as

helicopter parents influence how their child acts, lives, and interacts with others. Although it's
important for parents to be there to support their children, being an extreme, over protective parent

Analysis Of The Article 'Why Parents Need To Let Their...
In the article "Why Parents Need to Let Their Children Fail" Lahey illustrates overprotective parents
(helicopter parenting). Lahey shows a perfect example at the beginning of the article where a mother
wrote her child's essay and plagiarized it; she gave excuses like my kid has a lot of work or I don't
want her to be overstressed. This type of parenting makes teachers jobs more difficult because the
student is not learning the material if their parents are doing their homework. Overall Lahey argues
that overparenting is damaging towards a child's growth; I agree that this is destructive to a kid,
because if they do not learn how to fail when they are younger than they have a sense of entitlement
in the future.
Lahey is correct about how children will be stuck in a "state of helplessness", which I see every day.
Every day at work I witness how children are not able to answer a simple yes or no question without
their parent there to guide them. This has caused them to believe they are incapable of being in
control of their own lives in a way. Many parents come in asking me if their child did their
homework instead of asking the child and holding them accountable for doing it or not. I have
witnessed children that know all the answers to a math worksheet but go to their parents for the
answers instead of even trying. Children who grow up unprepared for the world are unable to deal
with the emotional hardships of not having their parents to lean on every step they are unable to
cope with not getting their way. Similarly, Lahey explains how "parents who raise their children in a
state of helplessness and powerlessness, children destined to an anxious adulthood, lacking the
emotional resources they will need to cope with inevitable setback and failure."(Lahey 3) If a child
is unable to master what I call thick skin when they are young then in the future every little thing
will hurt their feelings. Thick skin is made when your parents give you chores and hold you
responsible if they are not done. Future adults that had helicopter parents will be unable to put up
the dishes without needing reassurance that they are doing it correctly. These parents are ultimately
giving their children a false sense of protection for

Banks began to fail and nearly third of the population was unemployed, causing a significant drop in
birthrates. Before the depression, parents tried to have as many kids as possible. Despite different

Persuasive Essay About Helicopter Parenting
My parents gave me a choice, I could be free to experience and explore the internet, or I would be

It certainly isn 't required for good child learning. And to the extent that we do manage to solve all
of our children's problems–or keep those problems from ever even popping up–we are doing rhwem

from the real source of confidence and independence, which comes comes from navigating the

For this reason many parents should advocate raising self–reliant and responsible kids that learn
from their mistakes and grow from them. Mistakes are wrong, but good for developing mindsets. In
order to learn we must reflect on our mistakes which means always moving forward to bigger and
better things, with this mindset we are driven to achieve. In this case, when parents let kids have

interacting with others, fearful parents have focused on tracking, monitoring and blocking. These

free range it is just the opposite, parents let loose and let their children be who they are and allow

College-Students Should Step Back From Helicopter-Parents
'Why college–students should take a step back from their helicopter–parents'
Stanford University professor Castle deserves support for her statements in her article 'The case for
breaking up with your parents' (The Chronicle Review, May 6, 2012) for various reasons. She
claims that excessive parental engagement in the lives of college–students has a negative influence
on the students' intellectual and emotional autonomy. The latter can only be attained by detaching
themselves from their parents. Prof. Castle refers to this concept as 'self–orphaning'.
In her article, Castle states that 'each of us at some point need to think about "the homes" from
which we emerge and what we really think of them' (Prof. Castle). Parents often find it self–evident
that their college–students always make themselves available for them. Moreover, they put their
own emotional needs ahead of the developmental needs of their children. It is only logical they want

Technology painlessly simplifies communication, usually extremely difficult to maintain effectively
between people. Of course, this means that technology can also quite easily nurture the parent–child
connection. Parents can keep their children safe simply by knowing more about whom and what
their children are getting involved with, whether it is extracurriculars, food choice, or social cliques.
A student knowing his parents are watching over him may feel more reassured and secure. This can
strengthen their family bond, and help the student feel comfortable communicating with his parents
on a frequent basis, knowing that his parents are involved and willing to take an active role in their
child's life. Instead of living with the tumultuous home circumstances that cause many youth to
underperform in school, a child instead has allies in his parents. For example, a child that may not
have been able to go to his friend's house spontaneously to work on a project twenty years ago, can
now simply pick up a phone and hear a "Yes" or "No" from his parents within the minute. Instead of
harsh nagging, a parent uses gentle reminders to his child to let him know about the homework he
may have forgotten to turn in. By no means is it purely bad for parents to possess technology. The
power of technology is such that a family can become closer through its meted usage, in spite of the
overprotectiveness that it may occasionally trigger.

"An air assault is the movement of friendly assault forces by rotary–wing aircraft to engage and
destroy enemy forces or to seize and hold key terrain" (JP 3–18). These air assaults would not be an
air assault without the attack aviation element supporting them. Additionally, the use of Unmanned
Aircraft Systems support air assaults by providing continuous helicopter landing zone "soaks" prior
to infill as well as patterns of life observations. The attack aircraft that conduct quick reaction force
operations stationed at remoted forward operating bases rely on the utility and cargo aircraft to
supply ammo, fuel, POL, and parts to maintain flight operations. Again, Unmanned Aircraft
Systems work directly with the attack aviation platforms employing manned unmanned teaming
concepts in order to dispatch enemy elements. "An air movement is the air transport of units,
personnel, supplies, and equipment including airdrops and air landings" (JP 1–02). "Security
operations are those operations undertaken by the commander to provide early and accurate warning
of enemy operations to provide the force being protected with the time and maneuver space to react
to the enemy, and to develop the situation to allow the commander to effectively employ the
protected force "(ADRP 3–90). The early and accurate warnings and the intelligence that these
operations provide ensures that the air movements are traversing in as "safe" an environment as

Are You Safer Without A Pilot?
Are You Safer Without a Pilot? System Safety Design in a UAV Construct The Gradual Move from
Manned to Unmanned Flight According to James Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing
Commercial Airlines, "A pilotless airliner is going to come; it's just a question of when. You'll see it
in freighters first, over water probably, landing very close to the shore." (Ross, 2011, p. 38) The
trend toward aircraft without pilots is not new. As technology has improved the number of crew
members and their responsibilities have steadily decreased. The Boeing B–29, the most
technologically advanced aircraft of the day, required five people to operate the aircraft; pilot, co–
pilot, flight engineer, navigator and radio operator. This does not include the four gunners and
bombardier required for combat operations. (Mann, 2009) Compare this with modern airliners that
carry a crew of one pilot and one copilot. The flight engineer, navigator, and to some degree the
radio operator, have been replaced by computers. Not only are there fewer crew members, their
workload has been steadily reduced. Navigation moved from dead reckoning and star sightings to
radio navigation (VOR/DME) to Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) to Global Positioning Satellite
(GPS). As recently as the 1960's, aircraft like Lockheed's C–5 Galaxy, were designed and built with
celestial navigation sextant ports (Clonts, 2006). Radio communication went from technology so
cumbersome it took a full time radio operator to

The Basic Principle of Close Range Terrestrial Photogrammetry
The basic principle of close range (terrestrial) photogrammetry will be explained in this section.
"Photogrammetry is the art and science of deriving accurate metric and descriptive information from
analog and digital images" (Habib et al., 2006; Habib Ghanma Al–Ruzouq Kim a; Ayman Paper A.F.
Habib, K.I. Bang, M. Aldelgawy). Wolf, 1983 defined the photogrammetry as the art, science and
technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and environment through the
process of recording, measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of
electromagnetic radiant imagery and other phenomena. It is obviously stated, in the definition, that
photogrammetry can be used 3D model of real objects for many areas of discipline such as
geological and geotechnical engineering, archeology, architecture, biomedical engineering, civil
engineering, and environmental science. Photogrammetry is non–intrusive, cost–effective, is ideal
for recording data of a complex nature, has high level of achievable accuracy, uses digital data
which results in total flexibility across a multitude of platforms, plus images may be catalog and
compared over time. The 3D data from imagery reconstructed through a photogrammetric
triangulation (bundle adjustment) technique using converging overlapping images from different
viewpoints around the area of interest.
Photogrammetry can be divided into two categories: aerial and close range (terrestrial)
photogrammetry. Aerial photogrammetry

Essay The Effect Of Helicopter Parents

  • 1. Essay The Effect of Helicopter Parents Tera Winger Mrs. Pietka English 1304.26 26 January 2012 The Effect of Helicopter Parents "No Escape from 'Helicopter Parents'" by Felix Carroll discusses the problem that baby boomers are becoming over–protective of their children and are not letting them live independently. Carroll tells about helicopter parents to make the point that children of baby boomers are being suffocated by their parents. My own experience with helicopter parents yields a point that is both similar and different. What I take away from my own experience with helicopter parents is that many parents hover over their children because they feel their kids have found things of better interest. As a result, I conclude that helicopter parents are not seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, kids tend to have a closer relationship with their parents because their parents have now become more of a friend to them instead of an authority. Carroll speaks of Mark Gamsjager, saying "He skateboards and snowboards with his two boys, Austin, 13, and Thomas, 9" (Carroll 32). This type of relationship will be beneficial when Mark's children grow older because they will have something in common with him and it will continue to keep the relationship close. I have a similar relationship with my parents and it has been nothing but beneficial to me. Eighteen years compared to a lifetime is not very long so it is important that kids develop close relationships with their parents before it is time to move off to college. I am grateful that my father is a helicopter parents because I was able to spend a great amount of time with him before I moved out. Carroll ultimately proves his point that helicopter parents are a negative influence on their children because parents are "too obsessed with your children. You treat them like little princes and princesses...and by the time they get to college and are asked who their hero is, your child will cay those words you long to hear: My dad. My mom" (Carroll 32). One of many reasons why helicopter parenting is a downfall is because students with over–protective parents tend to lack self–reliance and independence once they are on their own. Because everything has been done for them by their parents, many students once in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Helicopter Parents Fear For The Future Helicopter Parents Fear for The Future A parent who takes an overprotected or excessive interest in the life of their child or children are known as "Helicopter parents." With so much going on in this world there is no question why helicopter parents exist. We have school shootings, police brutality, jobs being outsourced to other countries and sexual violence. Parents want their children to be safe and make sure they will make it in this world but it's hard when you're not prepared or you don't know what can happen. Millennials face many challenges and these are just a sum of some of those many challenges School and/or campus shootings have become a big problem. The first known school shooting was the Pontiac's Rebellion school massacre on July 26, 1764, where four Lenape American Indian entered the schoolhouse near present–day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and killed nine or ten children only two children survived. Just in 2012–2014 there was a total of 94 school ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Twenty percent of young women who attended college during the past four years say they were sexually assaulted, according to a Washington Post–Kaiser Family Foundation poll. But the circle of victims on the nation's campuses is probably even larger. Many others endured attempted attacks, the poll found, or suspect that someone violated them while they were unable to consent. Some say they were coerced into sex through verbal threats or promises. There was a very interesting case "Carry the Weight" In September 2014, Emma Sulkowicz began to carry a mattress around Columbia University for along as her and her alleged rapist attend the same school. • 3. Helicopter Parents Should Be A Serious Issue Every now and then, we hear worried parents give a call to university officers, asking them to take care of their children. Additionally, some of them compel their children to make decisions based on what the parents want, believing that children are not mature enough and that it is the shortcut for their children to succeed. Whether helicopter parents should be a serious issue has raised a wide of variety of debate in society. In my viewpoint, helicopter parents have become a severe problem nowadays. The first reason is that parents are more apt to intervene in their children's lives than before due to circumstance, so there are more helicopter parents than before. The second reason is that those children with helicopter parents are inclined to have mental problems, rely on others more, and are vulnerable compared to normal children. Once they leave their parents, they are not capable of solving problems by themselves, and hence, cannot adapt themselves to the competitive environment and lose the opportunity to succeed. There is a controversy over whether helicopter parents are prevalent. In the articles "Kids of Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out" by Julie Lythcott–Haims, the author believes helicopter parents widely exist owing to the fact that she has met numerous students who did not show interest in their study or activities, while serving as a dean in Stanford University. They did so not because of their own will but because of the requirement from their parents. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Does Helicopter Parenting Affect Children Prompt 1: The problem with helicopter parenting Some parents believe that protecting their children and over focusing on their children at all time can be advantageous for their children. However, that's not always the case. Parents over focusing on theirs children can have a lot of negative effects on the kids. Some parents are doing everything they can for their children and that's a good thing, yet, doing everything for the kids when their kids are adult can lead to some problems too. There are two reasons I believe that helicopter parenting is harmful for the children, such as the children don't know how to become independent, and the children unable to learn social skills. When parents are over protective and do everything for their kids, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the kids that have helicopter parents do not know how to share food, or stand up for themselves because their parents are protect them all the time. Kids need to have good manner to interact among their peers or maintain friendship. And usually kid with self –discipline in terms of social skills, they know how to behave politely. However, unlike regular kid, over controlling parents kids don't know how to maintain friendship because they lack social cues. The over protecting kid don't know how to keep up the conversation with others, and they usually act like a kid. They have hard time get along with other people because they are narcissistic compared to the children who grew up independent. According to the Don Aucoin article, the author state that, "High level of oversight and supervision, keep tabs on their kids but not interfering in every activity or decision", If the parents are keeping tabs on their kids, the kids can do nothing on their own and also the kids do not learn social skills like other people. In order for the kids to practice their social skills, the parents need to have let their kids interact with people more no matter how worry they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Concerned Mother And In Defense Of Helicopter Parents Parent involvement in schools is positive to the extent that the child is encouraged and getting help on their homework when they need it. If the child is neglected the influence that they need from their parents, they would think that there would be no use to study and get good grades. The letter from a "Concerned Mother" and the article, "In Defense of Helicopter Parents" by Lisa Belkin from the New York Times, show evidence of parent influence being beneficial to a child. The influence of parents will help encourage their children to not give up, causing their determination to grow. Parent involvement from an early age will affect how they grow up academically. It is clear that parent involvement is helpful to the extent that they are willing to go further to help their child's independence grow. First of all, parent involvement will protect kids from mistakes too big for them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if a parent notices that their child's grades have been going down, they will feel like their child is encouraged enough to be focusing on classwork. Being a parent, they will find numerous ways how to help their child, including encouraging them. A parent's influence will give a child more determination. In the letter from a "Concerned Mother," the text stated, "Just like athletes or musicians whose parents attend all their practices, kids whose parents volunteer in their classrooms know they have someone cheering for them every step of the way." This is significant because the "concerned mother," who has experience because in her letter she noted that she had a son, strongly believes that the encouragement of parents will improve their grades. She compares middle schoolers to athletes and musicians, who are usually respected for their talent. Parents feel like when they intervene; they become the bad person in the eyes of the school. University administrators and school officials need to rethink their relationship with parents. Schools look at parents as being annoying, instead of appreciating parents who are active. Parents can be an important part of the equation. Parents, who are involved in their student's education, have students who are more likely to succeed both academically and socially. If admission personal and school officials are sending out a message to parents that they are an important part of the educational process, the parental involvement may increase significantly. It is time to change our views on parental involvement. We must stop viewing parents as a hindrance and embrace them as partners. Parents ARE part of the educational process. Helicopter parents can save their child from dangerous situation. For instance their child could meet a new friend, and the parents don't know anything about this new friend. The child's friend gets into trouble and is a bad kid; having a vigilant parent could keep the child safe from this not so good friend that is a bad influence. • 27. Analysis Of The Article 'Why Parents Need To Let Their... In the article "Why Parents Need to Let Their Children Fail" Lahey illustrates overprotective parents (helicopter parenting). Lahey shows a perfect example at the beginning of the article where a mother wrote her child's essay and plagiarized it; she gave excuses like my kid has a lot of work or I don't want her to be overstressed. This type of parenting makes teachers jobs more difficult because the student is not learning the material if their parents are doing their homework. Overall Lahey argues that overparenting is damaging towards a child's growth; I agree that this is destructive to a kid, because if they do not learn how to fail when they are younger than they have a sense of entitlement in the future. Lahey is correct about how children will be stuck in a "state of helplessness", which I see every day. Every day at work I witness how children are not able to answer a simple yes or no question without their parent there to guide them. This has caused them to believe they are incapable of being in control of their own lives in a way. Many parents come in asking me if their child did their homework instead of asking the child and holding them accountable for doing it or not. I have witnessed children that know all the answers to a math worksheet but go to their parents for the answers instead of even trying. Children who grow up unprepared for the world are unable to deal with the emotional hardships of not having their parents to lean on every step they are unable to cope with not getting their way. Similarly, Lahey explains how "parents who raise their children in a state of helplessness and powerlessness, children destined to an anxious adulthood, lacking the emotional resources they will need to cope with inevitable setback and failure."(Lahey 3) If a child is unable to master what I call thick skin when they are young then in the future every little thing will hurt their feelings. Thick skin is made when your parents give you chores and hold you responsible if they are not done. Future adults that had helicopter parents will be unable to put up the dishes without needing reassurance that they are doing it correctly. These parents are ultimately giving their children a false sense of protection for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

College-Students Should Step Back From Helicopter-Parents 'Why college–students should take a step back from their helicopter–parents' Stanford University professor Castle deserves support for her statements in her article 'The case for breaking up with your parents' (The Chronicle Review, May 6, 2012) for various reasons. She claims that excessive parental engagement in the lives of college–students has a negative influence on the students' intellectual and emotional autonomy. The latter can only be attained by detaching themselves from their parents. Prof. Castle refers to this concept as 'self–orphaning'. In her article, Castle states that 'each of us at some point need to think about "the homes" from which we emerge and what we really think of them' (Prof. Castle). Parents often find it self–evident that their college–students always make themselves available for them. Moreover, they put their own emotional needs ahead of the developmental needs of their children. Of course, this means that technology can also quite easily nurture the parent–child connection. Parents can keep their children safe simply by knowing more about whom and what their children are getting involved with, whether it is extracurriculars, food choice, or social cliques. A student knowing his parents are watching over him may feel more reassured and secure. This can strengthen their family bond, and help the student feel comfortable communicating with his parents on a frequent basis, knowing that his parents are involved and willing to take an active role in their child's life. Instead of living with the tumultuous home circumstances that cause many youth to underperform in school, a child instead has allies in his parents. For example, a child that may not have been able to go to his friend's house spontaneously to work on a project twenty years ago, can now simply pick up a phone and hear a "Yes" or "No" from his parents within the minute. Instead of harsh nagging, a parent uses gentle reminders to his child to let him know about the homework he may have forgotten to turn in. By no means is it purely bad for parents to possess technology. The power of technology is such that a family can become closer through its meted usage, in spite of the overprotectiveness that it may occasionally trigger. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

System Safety Design in a UAV Construct The Gradual Move from Manned to Unmanned Flight According to James Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airlines, "A pilotless airliner is going to come; it's just a question of when. You'll see it in freighters first, over water probably, landing very close to the shore." (Ross, 2011, p. 38) The trend toward aircraft without pilots is not new. As technology has improved the number of crew members and their responsibilities have steadily decreased. The Boeing B–29, the most technologically advanced aircraft of the day, required five people to operate the aircraft; pilot, co– pilot, flight engineer, navigator and radio operator. This does not include the four gunners and bombardier required for combat operations. (Mann, 2009) Compare this with modern airliners that carry a crew of one pilot and one copilot. The flight engineer, navigator, and to some degree the radio operator, have been replaced by computers. Not only are there fewer crew members, their workload has been steadily reduced. Navigation moved from dead reckoning and star sightings to radio navigation (VOR/DME) to Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) to Global Positioning Satellite (GPS). Habib, K.I. Bang, M. Aldelgawy). Wolf, 1983 defined the photogrammetry as the art, science and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and environment through the process of recording, measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of electromagnetic radiant imagery and other phenomena. It is obviously stated, in the definition, that photogrammetry can be used 3D model of real objects for many areas of discipline such as geological and geotechnical engineering, archeology, architecture, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, and environmental science. Photogrammetry is non–intrusive, cost–effective, is ideal for recording data of a complex nature, has high level of achievable accuracy, uses digital data which results in total flexibility across a multitude of platforms, plus images may be catalog and compared over time.
