Explain The Levels That Make Up Organ System
Our body has levels that build up on each other, we have cells that make up tissues, and tissues that
makeup organs, and organs that can make up organ system. Each cell type for the function has its
own way of functioning in the body, but they all work together to release the necessary fluids the
body needs and perform their function.

The European Union Essay
Introduction
In the course of fifty years, the European Union has expanded from six countries united under
economic treaties to a large collective of twenty–five sovereign nations. Maintaining the union within
such a large group has grown more difficult as numerous treaties have been drafted to control the
governance of the European Union. To reduce the number of treaties in the union, the convention
decided to draft a Constitution, which now moves through the process of ratification in each of the
sovereign nations. The Constitution works to set up a basis for the expansion of the Union and the
requirements that need to be met when a country seeks entry into the Union. But with the greater
controls the EU seeks to place on the...show more content...
The proposal limited the life span of the treaty to fifty years, meaning it would expire in 2002. The
treaty "was the first significant step towards European integration going beyond
intergovernmentalism, establishing a supranational authority whose independent institutions had the
power to bind its constituent member States" . From there, the countries decided to expand their
connections with the Treaty of Rome in 1957. This treaty created the European Atomic Energy
Community and the European Economic Community, both of which helped strengthen economic
ties between the countries. The member states strove to create a "common market" amongst
themselves by removing trade barriers1. This common market was created slowly with a lengthy
transitional period, "during which tariff barriers would be removed and a common external customs
tariff set up"2. It was at this point that the High Authority transformed into the Commission, an
executive authority within the treaties. The Parliamentary Assembly, Court of Justice and Council of
Ministers each then evolved by 1967. In 1992, the Treaty of Maastricht formally created the
European Union through new forms of collaboration in inter–governmental affairs of defense and
justice1. One of the original goals for the European Union was to spread jurisdiction in countries to
help combat international crime organizations and terrorist movements. The expanded

BUILDING A HOUSE Essay
Building A House
The process of building a house is a very complex and difficult task. In the following paragraphs, I
will be explaining the many different steps that are required to build a house.
The first thing in building a house is selecting a lot and lot preparation. The land has to be cleared
of trees and brush and graded to ensure a level building area. This process is usually called
excavating and grading. This is usually a very fast process but can be costly depending on the job.
Also the land has to perk which means the land is not too wet and is safe for a structure and allows
a septic tank to be installed that will function properly.
The next step is to have the land surveyed. When the land...show more content...
When the framing crew is finished, the framing has to be inspected and passed before the next
process can begin.
The next process is for the electricians and plumbers to begin. The electricians will completely wire
the house while the plumbers will only put in the first stage of pipes. The reason for not completely
plumbing is because the showers, sinks, and toilets are the very last items to be installed.
After the wiring and preliminary plumbing are complete, insulation and installing the windows on
the house are done. Using a good insulation and good windows will help reduce the heating and
cooling costs of the homeowner. This is a step in building a house that you should spare no expense.
The insulation and windows will pay for themselves in the long run.
Next, the builder will be hanging sheetrock. The sheetrock is the base interior wall covering. After
the sheetrock is hung, the painting or wallcovering can be done. Once painting is completed, the
carpet installation or other floor coverings can be installed. This is self–explanatory.
Inside trim will also be done during this phase. This includes various molding and window casings
and other items to be done to the specifications of the homeowner.
Then builders will move to the outside of the house. The boxing and siding crews will start on the
exterior of the house. Here you have to choose whether you want vinyl siding or one of the many of
the other kinds of siding on the market today. There

I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write
an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite
better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and
the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the
contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards.
Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different
methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall
theme and tone of the essay when used properly. This past...show more content...
This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand
the size of my research paper. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever
received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays
writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about
and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned
while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal,
narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I
encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was
finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything
else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and
myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most
of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was
understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them.
For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms

The History of Film Essay
A major change that has occurred in the development of film is the linearity of narrative. The history
of film spans over one hundred years ago, with classical narrative emerging in Hollywood around the
nineteen thirties. The classical narrative period had a strong emphasis on linearity and coherence,
where characters where goal centred and consistent in personality and action. In the nineteen sixties a
change began to emerge in Hollywood, with Breathless (Jean–Luc Godard, 1960) breaking the
editing rules, and narrative coherence, with the introduction of jump cuts. This film among others
greatly contributed to the outburst of non–linear narratives, a narrative technique wherein events are
portrayed out of chronological order. In the...show more content...
Rather than accepting the outlined narrative, as with classical narrative, the unpredictability and
shifting structure of non–linear narrative forces the viewer to question and evaluate the sequence of
events.
Sudden shifts in scenes or stories keep the viewers concentration. Media, for example news
headlines and YouTube, provide bursts of information in a very short period oftime. When browsing
the internet, the twenty–first century has become accustomed to skimming, and flipping between
different matter. As we have become accustom to Medias influences, our desire to concentrate on
one subject for a long period of time is diminishing. This has contributed to the popularity of
non–linear films in the twenty–first century as many people are finding the suspense more pleasing
than the classical narrative structure. This shifting of structure can also greatly help to portray how
we remember things.
Memory is our ability to store, retain and recall information and experiences. As memories are not
always accurate and different points of view can lead to different interpretation of situations, stories
are often complicated and therefore can be difficult to portray in a linear fashion. Non–linear
narratives, especially perceptible in thriller or detective films, provide bursts of memories, and
previously accumulated emotions, in order to place the viewer in the characters

Structure and Agency Essay
Structure and agency are two theoretical terms used to explain the capacity at which we as people
are able to be individuals, and to what extent those influences limit our individuality. Structure refers
to the ways in which a society is organized. Agency refers to the behaviors and actions of the
individuals within the social structure. Agency is limited by the structure due to cultural barriers and
inequalities within the structure. In this essay, I will present an overview of why critical theorists
are concerned with those inequalities, and I will further identify the problems within the system
contributing to the unequal access to the public sphere, relating specifically to class and gender
inequalities. Society is highly...show more content...
As Habermas puts it "the relationship of the individual to the state has increasingly become one of
client or consumer services, rather than citizen" (Roberts & Crossley, 5). Due to the limited agency
(citizens' roles) within this sphere, we can conclude that the ongoing competition and negotiation
for a role in the public sphere ends with strictly dominant views. In such a monarchy, ordinary
citizens such as lower classes and women have limited input when debating politics among other
things. The ideal of a place where all opinions are counted, so to speak, fails to provide a sense of
individual identity. This is due to the fact that it is pre–destined by the state itself and then turned
back to the people– telling them what they will think about particular issues; shown especially
through the controlling lens of the media. According to Marx, those who have power over society
exert their control as a result of economic power and therefore determine the dominant ideologies
within the superstructure model. Being the greater economical and cultural barrier, the structure
provides the social world with norms, rules and beliefs pertaining to age, gender, class and one's
cultural identity. Within that structure it becomes apparent that inequalities restrict your agency in
terms of nationality, geographical location, class etc. In agreement with Marx, the dominant views
are generally the views of the superior class; the elite. One example

The Truman Show Essay
The Truman Show
Utopia – A perfect world. Truman's world was an utopia. Everything, including the weather, was
controlled in a huge Hollywood dome. Truman grew up having no idea he was being watched
every hour of the day, and that every step he took was being viewed by millions all over the globe.
As the show progressed, it became clear how much media influenced Truman's life, and also how
Christof played a huge role in Truman's well–being.
First, the influence of media affects our lives in many ways. As The Truman Show ran 24/7, there
were no commercials. Therefore, the show had to generate an income by advertising products to the
viewers. For example, when Truman's wife showed off her recent purchase, a Chef Pal, she...show

Everything in Seahaven was operated by machines and computers. These computers were

father's death at sea. He grew up thinking it was his fault. Because of Christof's planning of the
death, Truman was always scared of water. The only way off of Seahaven was by boat, therefore
Christof knew he would be able to keep Truman under his control. Christof also did a good job of
increasing his audience numbers. When viewers saw the heart–felt moment of Truman reuniting
with his father years later, the number of viewers increased. Christof made the scene stand out by
changing camera angles and playing background music. In addition, since Truman wanted to make
his way to Fiji, Christof strategically planned different events in order to slow Truman down so he
wouldn't leave the island. An example of this is when Truman went to purchase a plane ticket, but
the flights were all sold out for over a month. Also, when the bus he was going to ride broke down.
This proves that Christof manipulated Truman for his own purpose. Christof controlled everything
in Truman's life from the weather to who Truman was going to spend his life with. All these points
prove how Truman was being used for Christof's benefit; to increase the show's ratings and to gain
an income.

Essay about the human brain
In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't
the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how
complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has
main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia
holds the lentiform and the caudate.
The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain
on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the
right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only

The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes
and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the
thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such
as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are
controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates
sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves
going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray
area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts
out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual
cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for
analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and
making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The
cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain.
If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion
has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many

Integumentary System Essay
THE INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM
The integumentary system also known as skin; surrounds the entire human body therefore being the
largest organ. The skin and its annexes like hair, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, nails, etc. The main
functions of the integumentary system is to function as a protective barrier, that keeps our body free
from intrusion of foreign materials, microorganisms and prevents dehydration as well as protecting
from desiccation and there are other functions also helps in elimination of waste products and in the
regulation of our body tempeture. There are many other functions of the integumentary system and

The body temperature is also maintained within this layer by insulating the body to the temperature
fluctuations.
The skin carries out the following main functions of the integumentary system. * Thermoregulation:
The thermoregulation of the skin is carried out with the help of evaporation of the sweat and
regulation of the blood flow to the dermis. * Sensations: The cutaneous sensations like touch,
pressure, vibration, pain, cold, hot, etc, are felt by the skin. * Protection: The protective barrier of
the skin helps prevent diseases, infections, dehydration, etc. * Production of Vitamin D: The sign
present in the skin and UV rays, helps in the production of vitamin D, an important nutrient of the
body. * Healing: When the epidermis breaks away due to a minor cut or burn, the cells on the
lower layers of the skin migrate upwards as a sheet. When two ends of the sheet meet, the cells stop
growing due to a process called 'contact inhibition'. Thus, the epidermis is sealed and the skin returns
to normal.
Hair: composed of columns of dead, keratinized cells bound together by extracellular proteins. Hair
has two main sections: The shaft– superficial portion that extends out of the skin and the root–
portion that penetrates into the dermis. Surrounding the root of the hair is the hair follicle. At the
base of the hair follicle is an onion–shaped structure called the bulb Papilla of the hair and the matrix

Pt2520 Unit 6 Steps
Q1. List six major steps that you would take in setting up a database for a particular enterprise.
Following are the six steps that I would take in setting up a database:
1.Requirement analysis
Understanding the business model of enterprise and identifying the entities of that model is the first
step in setting up database. Requirements analysis includes tasks of determining the needs or
conditions to meet. Requirement specification document will be generated at the end of this step.
2.Defining a model
Database model defines the logical structure of the database by determining manner in which the
data will be stored. Relational model is one of the most popular database models, which defines
tables and relationships between the tables.
3.Defining integrity Constraints

Create views
This step includes the task of describing a subset of data for each type of user based on his/her
privileges and requirements. This is done to ensure that no additional information is given to the
user. Views provide a level of abstraction to the database.
6.Initialize the database
After above 5 steps are done, create/initialize the database by adding tuples in appropriate fields.
Q2. Explain the difference between physical and logical data independence.
Data independence is the ability to make changes in the definition and organization of data without
requiring any changes in application programs. Each higher level of the data architecture is immune
to changes of the next lower level of the architecture. Physical and logical data independence differ
in type of changes that can be made without affecting working of higher levels.
Logical data independence is the ability to change logical schema without changing external schema
or user view. In simple words, format used for data storage and format used for data presentation are
independent. Such modifications include adding an attribute in existing table or adding a
relationship between existing

Essay about The Criminal Justice System
The Criminal Justice System
The Criminal Justice System is one of the most important tools available to society for the control of
anti–social behavior. The criminal justice system needs to prove a balance between punishing the
guilty and protecting the innocent being found guilty; however it is not as easy to convict those
who are guilty of committing crimes. There have been many miscarriages to justice where innocent
people were sent to prison. Many people have been affected by crime, this is due to statistics, which
show the various number of crimes committed in particular areas.
Crime statistics are compiled differently by different forces which is notoriously unreliable. There

Under the new rules, officers must record a crime anything that is reported as a crime. In the past,
if an officer thought that someone was lying (hoping for compensation perhaps) or thought that the
crime was not as major as murder for example, then he or she did not nee to record it. If the
Government do succeed in the new system of compiling statistics then crime statistics may become
increasingly reliable. This is because all crime is recorded, no matter how big or small the crime is.
However the statistics may not necessarily be entirely true, as many people may not report their
crime to the police. The majority of the crime not being reported is due to the fear within oneself,
or victims may not think that the crime they have been involved in was minor. Victims who are
scared are more likely to be those involved in domestic violence or other sort of abuse. If there
was a couple, and the husband regularly abused his wife, the wife would get scared to report this
to the police as she may believe that if her husband find out then he will take revenge and might
abuse her even more which may sometimes lead to extents such as murder. Or there maybe cases
where teenagers have been abused by bullies in school. They might be frightened to tell an adult, let
alone the police as

Vertebral Column Essay
Anatomy and Physiology of the Vertebral Column In humans, the vertebral column is also called
the spine or backbone. It has 24 articulating vertebrae portions and nine vertebrae that are fused in
the coccyx and sacrum. The vertebral column protects the spinal cord in the spinal column,
providing both protection and flexibility. The vertebral column is grouped by region (See Figure 1),
with 7 vertebrae in the cervical curve nearest the neck; moving to 12 thoracic vertebrae (mid–upper
back); to 5 lumbar vertebrae (lower back). Each individual vertebrae are made up of a body (the
centrum), arches that protrude from the upper and lower parts of the centrum, and various processes
that arise from the centrum and/or arches. Arches that extend from the top of the centrum are neural
arches; the ones found underneath the centrum are hemal or chevron arches. These arches (also
called facets) form articulations. Together, the notches from two contiguous vertebrae for an
opening for the spinal cord to pass called the intervertebral foramen (Snell, 2008). There are
regional differences in the vertebral structure. Cervical vertebrae have large spinal canals, oval
shaped vertebral bodies and facets that are oriented obliquely. Thoracic vertebrae form the transition
between the cervical and lumbar. The upper 4 thoracic vertebrae are like cervical vertebrae with
vertically oriented articular facets and posteriorly directed spinous processes. The lower four thoracic
vertebrae contain more

performance standards are an integral part and designed by the human resources department but

mechanisms. However performance appraisal focus is on performance appraisal and ratings. It is
just a part of the performance management process. Identifies measures, evaluates the employee's
performance, and then discusses that performance with the employee. Normally it is an annual
exercise though periodic evaluations are made. The main functions are on ratings and evaluation.
The most important component is rewards and recognition of good performance of staff. Designed

Explain The Levels That Make Up Organ System Our body has levels that build up on each other, we have cells that make up tissues, and tissues that makeup organs, and organs that can make up organ system. Each cell type for the function has its own way of functioning in the body, but they all work together to release the necessary fluids the body needs and perform their function. • 2. The European Union Essay Introduction In the course of fifty years, the European Union has expanded from six countries united under economic treaties to a large collective of twenty–five sovereign nations. Maintaining the union within such a large group has grown more difficult as numerous treaties have been drafted to control the governance of the European Union. To reduce the number of treaties in the union, the convention decided to draft a Constitution, which now moves through the process of ratification in each of the sovereign nations. The Constitution works to set up a basis for the expansion of the Union and the requirements that need to be met when a country seeks entry into the Union. But with the greater controls the EU seeks to place on the...show more content... The proposal limited the life span of the treaty to fifty years, meaning it would expire in 2002. The treaty "was the first significant step towards European integration going beyond intergovernmentalism, establishing a supranational authority whose independent institutions had the power to bind its constituent member States" . From there, the countries decided to expand their connections with the Treaty of Rome in 1957. This treaty created the European Atomic Energy Community and the European Economic Community, both of which helped strengthen economic ties between the countries. The member states strove to create a "common market" amongst themselves by removing trade barriers1. This common market was created slowly with a lengthy transitional period, "during which tariff barriers would be removed and a common external customs tariff set up"2. It was at this point that the High Authority transformed into the Commission, an executive authority within the treaties. The Parliamentary Assembly, Court of Justice and Council of Ministers each then evolved by 1967. In 1992, the Treaty of Maastricht formally created the European Union through new forms of collaboration in inter–governmental affairs of defense and justice1. One of the original goals for the European Union was to spread jurisdiction in countries to help combat international crime organizations and terrorist movements. • 3. BUILDING A HOUSE Essay Building A House The process of building a house is a very complex and difficult task. In the following paragraphs, I will be explaining the many different steps that are required to build a house. The first thing in building a house is selecting a lot and lot preparation. The land has to be cleared of trees and brush and graded to ensure a level building area. This process is usually called excavating and grading. This is usually a very fast process but can be costly depending on the job. Also the land has to perk which means the land is not too wet and is safe for a structure and allows a septic tank to be installed that will function properly. The next step is to have the land surveyed. When the land...show more content... When the framing crew is finished, the framing has to be inspected and passed before the next process can begin. The next process is for the electricians and plumbers to begin. The electricians will completely wire the house while the plumbers will only put in the first stage of pipes. The reason for not completely plumbing is because the showers, sinks, and toilets are the very last items to be installed. After the wiring and preliminary plumbing are complete, insulation and installing the windows on the house are done. Using a good insulation and good windows will help reduce the heating and cooling costs of the homeowner. This is a step in building a house that you should spare no expense. The insulation and windows will pay for themselves in the long run. Next, the builder will be hanging sheetrock. The sheetrock is the base interior wall covering. After the sheetrock is hung, the painting or wallcovering can be done. Once painting is completed, the carpet installation or other floor coverings can be installed. This is self–explanatory. Inside trim will also be done during this phase. This includes various molding and window casings and other items to be done to the specifications of the homeowner. Then builders will move to the outside of the house. The boxing and siding crews will start on the exterior of the house. Here you have to choose whether you want vinyl siding or one of the many of the other kinds of siding on the market today. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall theme and tone of the essay when used properly. This past...show more content... This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand the size of my research paper. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The History of Film Essay A major change that has occurred in the development of film is the linearity of narrative. The history of film spans over one hundred years ago, with classical narrative emerging in Hollywood around the nineteen thirties. The classical narrative period had a strong emphasis on linearity and coherence, where characters where goal centred and consistent in personality and action. In the nineteen sixties a change began to emerge in Hollywood, with Breathless (Jean–Luc Godard, 1960) breaking the editing rules, and narrative coherence, with the introduction of jump cuts. This film among others greatly contributed to the outburst of non–linear narratives, a narrative technique wherein events are portrayed out of chronological order. In the...show more content... Rather than accepting the outlined narrative, as with classical narrative, the unpredictability and shifting structure of non–linear narrative forces the viewer to question and evaluate the sequence of events. Sudden shifts in scenes or stories keep the viewers concentration. Media, for example news headlines and YouTube, provide bursts of information in a very short period oftime. When browsing the internet, the twenty–first century has become accustomed to skimming, and flipping between different matter. As we have become accustom to Medias influences, our desire to concentrate on one subject for a long period of time is diminishing. This has contributed to the popularity of non–linear films in the twenty–first century as many people are finding the suspense more pleasing than the classical narrative structure. This shifting of structure can also greatly help to portray how we remember things. Memory is our ability to store, retain and recall information and experiences. As memories are not always accurate and different points of view can lead to different interpretation of situations, stories are often complicated and therefore can be difficult to portray in a linear fashion. Non–linear narratives, especially perceptible in thriller or detective films, provide bursts of memories, and previously accumulated emotions, in order to place the viewer in the characters Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Structure and Agency Essay Structure and agency are two theoretical terms used to explain the capacity at which we as people are able to be individuals, and to what extent those influences limit our individuality. Structure refers to the ways in which a society is organized. Agency refers to the behaviors and actions of the individuals within the social structure. Agency is limited by the structure due to cultural barriers and inequalities within the structure. In this essay, I will present an overview of why critical theorists are concerned with those inequalities, and I will further identify the problems within the system contributing to the unequal access to the public sphere, relating specifically to class and gender inequalities. Society is highly...show more content... As Habermas puts it "the relationship of the individual to the state has increasingly become one of client or consumer services, rather than citizen" (Roberts & Crossley, 5). Due to the limited agency (citizens' roles) within this sphere, we can conclude that the ongoing competition and negotiation for a role in the public sphere ends with strictly dominant views. In such a monarchy, ordinary citizens such as lower classes and women have limited input when debating politics among other things. The ideal of a place where all opinions are counted, so to speak, fails to provide a sense of individual identity. This is due to the fact that it is pre–destined by the state itself and then turned back to the people– telling them what they will think about particular issues; shown especially through the controlling lens of the media. According to Marx, those who have power over society exert their control as a result of economic power and therefore determine the dominant ideologies within the superstructure model. Being the greater economical and cultural barrier, the structure provides the social world with norms, rules and beliefs pertaining to age, gender, class and one's cultural identity. Within that structure it becomes apparent that inequalities restrict your agency in terms of nationality, geographical location, class etc. In agreement with Marx, the dominant views are generally the views of the superior class; the elite. • 7. The Truman Show Essay The Truman Show Utopia – A perfect world. Truman's world was an utopia. Everything, including the weather, was controlled in a huge Hollywood dome. Truman grew up having no idea he was being watched every hour of the day, and that every step he took was being viewed by millions all over the globe. As the show progressed, it became clear how much media influenced Truman's life, and also how Christof played a huge role in Truman's well–being. First, the influence of media affects our lives in many ways. As The Truman Show ran 24/7, there were no commercials. Therefore, the show had to generate an income by advertising products to the viewers. For example, when Truman's wife showed off her recent purchase, a Chef Pal, she...show more content... Everything in Seahaven was operated by machines and computers. These computers were basically controlled my Christof's orders. Early in his life, Truman was traumatized by his father's death at sea. He grew up thinking it was his fault. Because of Christof's planning of the death, Truman was always scared of water. The only way off of Seahaven was by boat, therefore Christof knew he would be able to keep Truman under his control. Christof also did a good job of increasing his audience numbers. When viewers saw the heart–felt moment of Truman reuniting with his father years later, the number of viewers increased. Christof made the scene stand out by changing camera angles and playing background music. In addition, since Truman wanted to make his way to Fiji, Christof strategically planned different events in order to slow Truman down so he wouldn't leave the island. An example of this is when Truman went to purchase a plane ticket, but the flights were all sold out for over a month. Also, when the bus he was going to ride broke down. This proves that Christof manipulated Truman for his own purpose. Christof controlled everything in Truman's life from the weather to who Truman was going to spend his life with. All these points prove how Truman was being used for Christof's benefit; to increase the show's ratings and to gain an income. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay about the human brain In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate. The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only ...show more content... The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain. If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many areas Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When two ends of the sheet meet, the cells stop growing due to a process called 'contact inhibition'. Thus, the epidermis is sealed and the skin returns to normal. Hair: composed of columns of dead, keratinized cells bound together by extracellular proteins. This is done to ensure that no additional information is given to the user. Views provide a level of abstraction to the database. 6.Initialize the database After above 5 steps are done, create/initialize the database by adding tuples in appropriate fields. Q2. Explain the difference between physical and logical data independence. Data independence is the ability to make changes in the definition and organization of data without requiring any changes in application programs. Each higher level of the data architecture is immune to changes of the next lower level of the architecture. Physical and logical data independence differ in type of changes that can be made without affecting working of higher levels. Logical data independence is the ability to change logical schema without changing external schema or user view. In simple words, format used for data storage and format used for data presentation are independent. Such modifications include adding an attribute in existing table or adding a relationship between existing Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Topic Sentence Outline Analyze a Paragraph's Topic Sentence and Support For this assignment I decided to choose a topic about future technology, or better put, technology that will be expanded upon in the near future. Electric cars, especially Tesla models, have always intrigued me for many reasons. So while looking over articles I found this one on electric cars specifically, the Tesla Model X SUV, and road trips. In the authors topic sentence he is reminiscing about a road trip he had in college and he sounds pretty enthusiastic. The writer uses a lot of detail to support his argument that electric cars are suitable vehicles for road trips with proper planning for re–energizing the cars battery. He also explains that those times in recharging actually make the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Essay about The Criminal Justice System The Criminal Justice System The Criminal Justice System is one of the most important tools available to society for the control of anti–social behavior. The criminal justice system needs to prove a balance between punishing the guilty and protecting the innocent being found guilty; however it is not as easy to convict those who are guilty of committing crimes. There have been many miscarriages to justice where innocent people were sent to prison. Many people have been affected by crime, this is due to statistics, which show the various number of crimes committed in particular areas. Crime statistics are compiled differently by different forces which is notoriously unreliable. There are two...show more content... Under the new rules, officers must record a crime anything that is reported as a crime. In the past, if an officer thought that someone was lying (hoping for compensation perhaps) or thought that the crime was not as major as murder for example, then he or she did not nee to record it. If the Government do succeed in the new system of compiling statistics then crime statistics may become increasingly reliable. This is because all crime is recorded, no matter how big or small the crime is. However the statistics may not necessarily be entirely true, as many people may not report their crime to the police. The majority of the crime not being reported is due to the fear within oneself, or victims may not think that the crime they have been involved in was minor. Victims who are scared are more likely to be those involved in domestic violence or other sort of abuse. If there was a couple, and the husband regularly abused his wife, the wife would get scared to report this to the police as she may believe that if her husband find out then he will take revenge and might abuse her even more which may sometimes lead to extents such as murder. Or there maybe cases where teenagers have been abused by bullies in school. They might be frightened to tell an adult, let alone the police as Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Vertebral Column Essay Anatomy and Physiology of the Vertebral Column In humans, the vertebral column is also called the spine or backbone. It has 24 articulating vertebrae portions and nine vertebrae that are fused in the coccyx and sacrum. The vertebral column protects the spinal cord in the spinal column, providing both protection and flexibility. The vertebral column is grouped by region (See Figure 1), with 7 vertebrae in the cervical curve nearest the neck; moving to 12 thoracic vertebrae (mid–upper back); to 5 lumbar vertebrae (lower back). Each individual vertebrae are made up of a body (the centrum), arches that protrude from the upper and lower parts of the centrum, and various processes that arise from the centrum and/or arches. Arches that extend from the top of the centrum are neural arches; the ones found underneath the centrum are hemal or chevron arches. These arches (also called facets) form articulations. Together, the notches from two contiguous vertebrae for an opening for the spinal cord to pass called the intervertebral foramen (Snell, 2008). There are regional differences in the vertebral structure. Cervical vertebrae have large spinal canals, oval shaped vertebral bodies and facets that are oriented obliquely. Thoracic vertebrae form the transition between the cervical and lumbar. The upper 4 thoracic vertebrae are like cervical vertebrae with vertically oriented articular facets and posteriorly directed spinous processes. The lower four thoracic vertebrae contain more Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The bone is hard, made up of collagen together with inorganic substances like calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. There is a soft cushioning substance served as shock absorber in between bones know cartilage, it prevents damage to the surface of the bones as result of friction. Synovial fluid is lubricant fluid that provide nutrient for the cartilage at the end of the bone while the joint is surrounded by a fibrous cover it known as synovial capsules. The synovial membrane is inner lining of the capsules; the bone of a joint is held together by strong bonds called ligaments which is like elastic but it capable of controlling the movement of the joint. To make a movement, the brain will send a message to the nerves to tell the muscles to contract. Muscles are made of fibres and cells, are attached to tendons, touch and very strong tissues are connecting the muscles to the bones. Every tendon is covering by a synovial sheath; also known as a tendon sheath, "a double–walled tube with a thin film of synovial fluid that acts as a lubricant to allow the tendon to glide along smoothly". For us to make a movement, muscles will contract and the tendons will pull the bones along. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
