2. Younger children enjoy stories that have
rhyming words and lines that repeat.
For older children, choose books that spark an
interest. For example, boys might like scary
stories or even books about animals. Girls on
the other hand would be more interested in
fairy tales.
Bring your child to the library to allow them to
choose their own book. This also makes them
feel like it is a special occasion.
3. Set aside special reading time. This allows
children to think of reading as a part of a daily
routine.
4. Allow your child to turn the pages to help
them enjoy the experience. This will also help
more active children stay focused.
Read with emotion to draw your child into the
story and make it more enjoyable.
Stop and ask about pictures and what is
happening in the story to help with their
comprehension.
