TOPICS IN STORY TELLING
Story telling is very exciting part in a kindergarten
class. Everyday children love to hear story from their teacher.
In this point teacher task is to select a story that is
interesting and enjoyable. In selecting topic in story telling
the teacher consider the boy’s interest and the girl’s interest.
Even though girls may want to listen to stories of beautiful
princesses and handsome prince teacher also needs to involve
boy’s interest. All children in the class should be given an
opportunity to pick out a book that they would like you to read
for them. Story time is quality time because it will create a
feeling of togetherness. Story time in kindergarten class can be
a wonderful way to keep children engaged. We can notice that
children never tire of listening again and again to their
favorite kindergarten stories. If all children can actually
participate in the telling of popular stories it will be more
interesting for them.
The reason behind why children love to listen in a
story because they are very imaginative. When teacher tells a
story the children’s imagination is very active. Sometimes they
imagine themselves that they are part of the story or assuming
that they are the main character. They also love when the
teacher changes his/her voice while telling the story. When the
teacher use picture children’s attention is easily catch as well
as when he/she use puppet in telling the story. For teacher it
is also important to have an eye to eye contact to the children
to be able to see reactions from the listener. Proper
enunciation and expression of feelings is also important.
