What Is The Australian Landscape
A poem is a way to escape, a way to feel something you've never felt, see something you've never seen, and go somewhere you've never gone. Poets
have always used their language, tone, and devices to transport their reader to see a new and different perspective on key aspects of society. One
distinct example of this, is the depiction of the Australian landscape which is expressed from varying perspectives in different poems, including John
Tranter's Backyard, Jill Jones's Transformations in a City Block, and Dorothea Mackellar's My Country. Tranter has expressed the suburban scenery,
with which a majority of Australians are familiar with, as well as a realistic life and the idea of living simply. Jones, as well as Tranter, shows the real
environment in which most Australians live, the city, contrary to the belief of many. On the other hand, My Country illustrates the ideal and well
known Australian landscape of the bush and natural environment, which is not a completely accurate representation of Australians and how we live.
Nevertheless these poems work together to form a cohesive anthology concerning the different perspectives of Australia and its' scenery, revealing the
duality of this countries landscape and a contrast between the ideal and real environment in which Australians live.
The poem Backyard conveys the notion of the simple yet chaotic life that is found when living in the landscape of suburban Australia. This blank verse
poem of seven stanzas has slight rhythm, no rhyme and has utilised enjambment throughout. These aspects contribute to the sense of reality and chaos
created as the poem sound closer to normal speech, as though you're just have a conversation with the narrator. The poem follows the events that occur
and environment of a family's backyard, discussing the various aspects with which most Australian's would be able to relate with to some degree and
overall telling the reader to live life simply. Moreover, the use of the rhetorical question 'Is that a fifties home movie, or the real thing?' makes the
audience think about what the true Australian landscape really is. People outside of Australia don't tend to associate this country with the suburbs but
this statement makes them

The Club, By David Williamson
Australia is filled with many different aspects in which makes it the country it is today. I believe it is important to study texts that explore aspects
of Australia by studying texts such as 'The Club', by David Williamson, a play written in 1977 about an Australian football club and movies such as
"The Castle", directed by Rob Stitch in 1997, about the daily life of an Australian family when their happiness is threatened when developers attempt
to buy their house to expand the neighboring airport. Both these texts show us what Australian life was like in the past. By us looking at themes such
as language, tradition and the mateship shown we are able to explore different aspects of Australia that make it what it is today. Williamson's play,
'The Club', accurately reflects many Australian attitudes of today, even though the play was written many years ago. Some of the attitudes expressed,
such as tradition, are still equally relevant in todays society. Tradition plays a very important part in 'The Club'. The characters have their own ideas
thinking that tradition must be changed to achieve success in todays society. For example, Laurie, the coach, blames an old Club tradition for his
failure to win a premiership. He states, 'You and your cronies wouldn't let me buy players.' Jock, the vice–president, replies, 'We were upholding old
tradition. It was wrong, but we believed in it.' They should have believed in their club as tradition often gives us insight into what outcomes

Examples Of Imperialism
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"
This is the famous quote by President Roosevelt in 1933, during his inaugural address to the nation. He was trying to convince the people that the
impact of fear can be minimised by focussing on a positive future where fear was overcome with positive thinking and belief in society.
Fear is an indispensable emotion that we all possess. It is not something new. It is rational and is directed at 'real' things in the world. Fears are
always changing through different eras of time, but some still remain the same through the course of history. It has marked societies when facing
plagues or wars, and many believe that the world is a more dangerous place today than it ever has been. The fears ... Show more content on

Colonel Quaritch states, "We'll fight terror with terror" in order to achieve his goal. Greed for the valuable minerals of the land blinded the disrespect
shown for the people who actually lived there in trying to exterminate them. Even though Aliens did not quite fit this theme as no one was trying to
pillage the land of valuables, it should be remember that the Aliens were indigenous to the planet LV–426, and were only protecting themselves when
they felt threatened. In the end it was a matter of survival for the human crew who were in fear of the Aliens. Motherly protection came into play for

On The Beach Theme
In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, it develops the theme how humans end up destroying themselves. The theme indicates that
during a nuclear war nobody wins. Even the survivors that manage to survive the fallout of a nuclear war end up committing suicide rather than dying
painfully from nuclear radiation. A social situation in today's world that connects to this theme is the conflict that we have ISIS. If ISIS manages to
get nuclear weapons, the results would not differ largely from that of the movie. In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, the theme
of self destruction connects very well to the ideas in the movie. Those that live in Australia appear that in the case of a nuclear war they will be

Paper Planes Film Analysis
The film 'Paper Planes' is a heartwarming Australian film, based on a true story, directed by Robert Connolly, written by Steve Worland and starring Ed
Oxenbould and Sam Worthington. The film begins in outback Western Australia where 12
–year–old Dylan (Ed Oxenbould) is living with his with his
widowed depressed father (Sam Worthington). One day at Dylan's school a student teacher shows Dylan how to make a perfect paper plane. He
discovers he has a passion for making them and decides to enter the world of competitive paper plane making. During the movie Dylan meets
memorable characters like Kevin (the main character's mate), Kimi (a Japanese contestant), Jason (another contestant who bullies the protagonist) and
struggles with his relationship with his father after the death of his mother.
The movie is 'G' rated and aimed at children aged around 7–12 years. The movie met its target audience because I feel they would be able to relate to
this movie the most, but I also feel that the movie would be enjoyable for children of all ages and parents.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, however, I did have some small issues with the film. The movie was entertaining with a fun plot line and

The Rabbit Proof Fence By Philip Noyce
Philip Noyce`s film 'The Rabbit Proof Fence' (2002) and Jill Ker Conway`s autobiography 'The Road From Coorain"(1989), discuss and compare
many of the same themes which express the importance of 'home', and its significance to the protagonists of the texts. The Rabbit Proof Fence follows
the journey of three young indigenous girls who were taken from their homes in 1931, as apart of the stolen generation. Conway's autobiography is a
personal reflection of her up brining in rural Australia, and how her life changed when she was forced to move into the big smoke. They both utilise the
explicit nature of discrimination in Australia, against indigenous Australia as a major narrative drive. Both texts illustrate the themes of transition of...

Conway had found the transition to be overwhelming and difficult, as the lifestyle is very different in the city compared to the farm life that she was
used to. Conway realises the significance rural Australia was to her up bringing, as she describes the landscape of New South Wales in compelling
detail. With its plains and endless horizons, its ever–present red dust, its emus and kangaroos and kookaburras. Conway recalls that the land is like "a
kookaburra feeding St. Jerome or accompanying St. Francis. They belong to a physical and spiritual landscape which is outside the imagination of
the Christian West." The writer suggests that landscapes have a powerful role in identity. Moving away from home to a foreign place is closely
related to the experiences, which the three girls from 'The Rabbit Proof Fence' had endured. You can only imagine how hard it would be for the
native people of Australia. Who have been living off the land for thousands of years and expected to be required to leave their homes. The rabbit–proof
fence is a versatile symbol of home throughout the movie. For example, when the girls first encounter it on their trek to Jigalong, they embrace it
passionately with the camera cutting to an emotional scene of their mother (Ningali Lawford), holding the fence, hundreds of kilometres away, even
over distance, the mother and her children are still connected. This powerful scene enhances the idea

The Rabbit-Proof Fence By Phillip Noyce
The Rabbit–Proof Fence directed by Phillip Noyce, is a story of Aboriginal life in 1931 Western Australia, at the time of the stock market crash in
America, and specifically the time of Australia gaining independence from Great Britain and implementing the Aboriginal Act, an act allowing the
Protector of the Aborigines to relocate random family members to white camps. The story follows three girls, Molly (14), Gracie (10), and Daisy
(8) being relocated by the Protector of the Aborigines, Mr. Neville, aka Mr. Devil. In the camp, Molly notices a rain cloud, inferring she and her
family members must escape, as the rain will cover their tracks, something they are familiar with through years of hunting animals by their tracks. The
girls escape, and after a long journey of chasing, aid from helpful strangers, and memorable family moments, the girls successfully follow the 990 mile
fence to their home, but loose their cousin Gracie on the journey.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out of these, the theme of family, unity. and faith are essential to the story. Portrayed by the girls; family, unity, and faith are present because of the
strong bond and love between the stolen girls. During their long journey, they are portrayed as a unit, caring after one another, and fighting for one
another. A visual example of this can be found on the movie's poster/cover, showing two of the girls, Molly carrying Gracie, with the rabbit fence and
a"spiritual" eagle in the scenic sky. This shows their love for each other, and the fear of what lies

Australia is a vast landscape, known for its laid back attitude, beautiful never ending beaches and snags, but Oz has more to offer than just slang culture.
Ever since its colonisation, Australia has branched off from its European counterpart and grown into a vibrant society that the American dream could

Media and Moving Images are given more attention, in order to aid the great country's cultural growth.
An example of the quality entertainment that Australia produces can be seen in the 1994 film, "The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Dessert".

landscape changes quite drastically in the media industry, where news and TV go online and new competitors with new business models compete more
successfully than incumbent media companies. Disney's parks and resorts business segment also receives strong competition from local competitors
who can offer better–adapted product. This results in growing competitive pressure for Walt Disney Company (Ovidijus Jurevicius).

Humor In Red Dog
Moving forward we will focus our attention on Australian comedy movies, their particularities, nature of the humor. As a source for the study we chose
two movies, family comedy–drama Red dog directed by Kriv Stenders and different comedy–drama Muriel's Wedding. Red dog, more comedy or
drama? The movie is based on a real story of a legendary red dog that came to the city of Dampier and united a disparate community of local people.
It was a community of mine workers, they didn't have a lot joy in their lives, emigrants from different countries, missing their homes, far from families
and friends. Red dog brought hope and happiness to this small town. Everybody found something special and necessary in red dog. He was much more

Men and women from all over the world came to work to Australia; they have different behaviors, believes, traditions, speaking with different accents
but have to cohabit together. The scene when Vanno, italian guy talks with DIE "SKI"– PATROULLIE: DzamanSKI, SandanSKI and ChupoSKI, all
of them are foreigners as well, is an example of how ironic the intercultural communication pictured in the film. Vanno drives them crazy with his talks
about native town and being effusive they beat him up. The image of Vanno is depicted stereotypical as well. He talks non–stop, use a lot of gestures,
admiring own culture, Italian women, speak with a strong Italian accent. Another example of stereotypical humor is about John Grant, one of the
main characters in the movie. Originally, he is from America and in the beginning members of Dampier community are not so friendly to him, they
call him yankie. In the scene when John comes to Peeto to ask him to stay with Red dog, because he wanted to be free for the date with Nancy, and
Peeto makes an ironic stereotypical joke: "Why do you think she will be interested in a skinny yankie meanwhile there are a lot of real men around"

Proof Fence Controversy
Through history, colonization along with cultures differences has caused major controversy throughout the world. This source of controversy is often
examined in movies, both fictional and historical. Two examples of this are the movies Rabbit Proof Fence which recalls the real–life colonization
experiences of three Native Aborigine girls, as well as the movie Avatar which tells the story of colonization to a foreign planet with alien natives.
While both Rabbit Proof Fence and Avatar examine theculture and relationship between natives and those who want to colonize their land, each movie
differently portrays this theme and have different outcomes.
While both of these movies deal with colonization, the settings for them are much different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article "Fundamental Considerations: The Deep Meaning of Native American Schooling, 1800–1900" David Wallace Adams examines how in
the mid–1800s Americans began to school Native Americans in an attempt to rid them of their "savage" ways similar to the aboriginal natives and
Na'vi. While this may seem like a peaceful way to assimilate Natives to, in this case white colonial culture, assimilation also includes the destruction
of a native culture (Wallace 1988). In both of movies characters take their own unique stand against the oppression and assimilation of colonist.
While it may not have been on as large a scale as in Avatar, in Rabbit Proof Fence, instead of staying at the camp and continuing to learn and adapt to
European culture, the oldest of the three girls used knowledge taught in Aborigine culture to escape from the camp without leaving any trace to be
found. Although the end of the movie tells us that the two girls who made it back would later be sent back to re–education camps, refusing to adapt to
the European culture, they once again escaped. In the movie Avatar, human colonist have also attempt to school the Na'vi natives in order to rid them
of their "savage ways" when all of these attempts fail the human military decide they cannot peacefully coexist with the natives. But just like the girls

According to Horner and Swarbrooke (2005: 39), Segmentation may be defined as the process of dividing a whole market into subgroups or segments

The movie Red dog was able to express all types of themes. The Australian culture are full of comedy, romance, tragedy and mateship, and all these
themes are evident in the film Red dog. Comedy was a huge part of this film, nearly even scene showed comedy and would give you a laugh. Half
way through the movie the character Peeto was to babysit/look after Red dog for John while he took Nancy out on their first date. Peeto was
secretly doing his knitting but Red Dog showed the mates Vanno, Jocko and Jack and embarrassed him. This demonstrates that there is always a
good laugh as an Australian. Romance is another key theme in the movie Red dog. John has never stayed in the same place for more than two years
but this time he stays in Dampier for one particular reason. He was in love with Nancy. Love, relationships and romance are all very common in
Australia. People make sacrifices to be with the people they love. There is also sadness and tragedy in Australia. Whether it be a loss of a friend,
family member or dog. There are many sad and heart touching scenes in this film, starting from the loss of your wife and child (Jocko), the loss of
your recent new partner (Nancy) or the loss of the famous wanderer dog (Red dog). With loss and tragedy also comes powerful memories and stories

Overview of the Australian Film Industry
Australian Film Industry 1
Era before World War I Australian film industry had good and bad times or 'boom and bust' (Stratton, 1990) in period of last 100 years and that is
why it can be called a fragile industry. If we look at the history, era before 1914, we find out that Australia was counted as one of the biggest film
making countries of the world. This Australian film industry took the honor of being first to produce world's first feature film in 1906, The Story of
the Kelly Gang. The local movie production was on its peak in year, 1911 in which fifty one movies were released (Pike and Cooper, 1998). Although
this number does not seem very impressive today but in those times, Australia was counted as the fastest film producing country. In only two years,
between 1910 to 1912, more than 90 narrative films were produced and between 1906 to 1928, this number reached to 150 (Moran and Vieth, 2005)
.This high production is never seen after that period. That's why this period before World War I was an ideal period for film industry, which never came
back. Australian films were not only seen in Australia but all around the world through travelling exhibitions. Several films produced in Australia were
internationally recognized and the actors and film makers starting their career in Australian film industry gained international reputations. A large
number from these also received great financial benefits in their career in the largest producing centers of the world,

Red Dog Film Techniques
'Red Dog'– an Aussie dramacomedy film released in 2011, tells the true story of a red stray kelpie dog that existed in Western Australia during the
1970s. Set in a working mine, the "Pilbara Wanderer" was known for his 'hitchhiking', travelling around the globe from person to person, perusing great
loyalty, adopting people and bringing the community together. This classic Aussie movie has shown the loyalty of dogs and the sense of community
spirit.
Red Dog seems to be the typical 'Aussie' lighthearted drama film, set in the outback of Australia, where all roads lead to the pub– and in this movie
quite literally. From the beginning to the end, there is a selection of typical 'Aussie' style music, such as the classic 'Eagle Rock'. There is also themes
of loyalty and mate–ship between a man and his dog, which is common in the typical Australian outback lifestyles.
The acting was authentic and original to the era, there was definitely a sense of Australian humor amongst it. Everyone had really set into their
characters, but still no one compares to Red Dog– his facial expressions elevated him up from being a dog to a true Aussie character.
Aside from Red Dog being a favourite character of mine, I must say that Vanno... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

role in creating a stereotype Aussie by again– the way they dress, how they talk, and the alcohol. Peeto seems to fit the package of the stereotypical
Australian male. He wears extremely high shorts, singlets, and boots like most. He drinks a ton of beer and alcohol and has a pretty strong accent to
accompany. After all he charged at two

Persuasive Speech: If We Should Stop Buying Australian Films
Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
Let me ask you a scary question–what would happen if our Australian film industry stopped producing films all together? If we stop producing
Australian films no one will be able to experience Australia, its people and its diverse culture. Australian films are therefore low budget, they focus on
more realistic themes, and where by contrast Hollywood films are more glamourous and fantastic allowing the audience to escape reality. The Australian
film industry has so much potential and I believe you should keep producing films.
Australian products supposedly have a cultural cringe because we do not see it necessary to buy our products; therefore audiences do not see it
necessary to watch movies about our country and everyday life. Australians see our films as retelling a story about our history such as The Rabbit
Proof Fence, a story about the stolen generation, a topic that is frequently in the media. Australian films also tend to portray Australia as a rural
developing country with kangaroos and jackeroos, doing little to promote the great achievements of our nation. We should use this medium to promote
Australia's rich culture and heritage, but ensure that we are not telling the same tired story over and over. Instead create fantasy movies or ... Show more

Plot Summary Of The Movie The Castle
Introduction: The Castle, directed by Robert Sitch and produced in 1997, is arguably one of the greatest Australian movies ever created. It is a
peculiar, boorish and above all, humorous film, that is loved by most Australians. With great use of trademark Aussie humour, amateur camera work
and Australian stereotyping, the movie can be very relatable to Australian viewers, typically those of the blue–collar working–class level. Even with
light–hearted humour that could be taken offensively, and seen as a 'dig at Australian culture, in my opinion, the Castle portrays the typical Australian
working –class family and has an underlying message of being resilient and never giving up! Plot Summary: Set in Melbourne, The Castle is a movie...

highlight the issue of racism using the characters Jasper in 'Jasper Jones' and Susan in 'Jindabyne'. The texts are able use these characters to
successfully challenge the audience views on racism and how it effects individuals and society.
'Jasper Jones' is a novel written by Craig Silvey in 2009, set in 1965 in a small town named Corrigan. The one overarching theme that Silvey
addresses in 'Jasper Jones' is the idea of growing up and the loss of innocence that occurs with growing up. Silvey explains that there is living like
an adult and being an adult, living like adults is having no critical filter and still follows the same lifestyle they did as a child, while becoming an
adult is having a critical filter with the ability to challenge ideas etc. (Silvey, n.d.). This time period was strategically chosen as this was considered the
time Australia grew up. Silvey also created the characters, such as Jasper around the theme of growing up. Jasper ... Show more content on

'Jasper Jones' challenges the idea that Australia is a mature nation and suggests that it can't be with issues like racism still present, while 'Jindabyne'
challenges the idea of everything is fine in Australia regarding racism, when really these issues are still prevalent. The issue of racism causes both
Jasper and Susan to be represented very similarly in both texts, Jasper being positioned to be seen as lonely and Susan being represented as helpless,
they are both without support due to the issue of racism. This shows the effects that racism can have on individuals in society, they become singled out
without any help or support. Both texts have been successful challenging the ideas of the audience in relation to the treatment of

Avatar' and Imperialism
The movie Avatar shares many themes with the Age of Imperialism. In the movie, the human protagonist takes the form of a local alien Na'vi in a
conflict between humans and the Na'vi. The conflict arises because the humans in the film have arrived at the home of the Na'vi, Pandora, and
begun to exploit its resources. At first, they ignored the Na'vi, but their quest for resources is now taking them into direct conflict with the native
peoples of Pandora. The Na'vi are the only humanoid residents of Pandora, which is otherwise populated by abundant flora and fauna. In the
imperialism parable, the Na'vi are the native peoples of Africa, the Americas, Australia and Asia; while the humans in Avatar are representative of
the Europeans during the Age of Imperialism. During the Age of Imperialism, Europeans spread across the globe, setting up colonies and
exploiting the resources of the lands that they found. When they began to set up colonial rule in those lands, there was tremendous suffering
among the native peoples. Many native peoples during the Age of Imperialism lost their way of life to the imperialist powers. In Avatar, the loss of
a way of life, and in broad the loss of culture altogether, is a theme explored in when the humans seek to destroy the Hometree as part of their plan to
exploit the resources of the planet. The loss of the way of life for the Omaticaya people mirrors the dramatic changes to the way of life that can be
found in the Age of Imperialism. Native

The Impact Of World War One ( Wwi )
The Home Front is often overlooked when discussing the impact of World War One (WWI), as the impact is often less glorified when compared to
the bloodshed of the battlefields. This exhibition looks at life in Australia during WWI and explores the experiences of those away from the actual
fighting who are at home. By extensively using primary sources and brief profiles of both notable and everyday Australians during WWI, the exhibit
gives a holistic view on life in Australia during the Great War. The exhibit focuses on the themes of the initial excitement of those in Australia when
the war began, technology advancements, how the public received news of the war and their reaction to it, as well as the sense of growing
disillusionment that developed as the war progressed. It comprehensively looks at these experiences and emotions and describes them with clarity.
When first entering the exhibit, the wall displays a quote from the Sydney Morning Herald, stating that the war was "our baptism of fire... it will test
our manhood and womanhood... even though we never hear a shot fired". This is then coupled with the exhibit describing the "excitement" felt by
many Australian's as the war promised an adventure. This excitement is explored throughout the exhibition as it describes how Australian's put their
lives on hold for the war effort. The exhibit accurately describes this initial excitement, and portrays the wide range of emotions felt by those in
Australia.

Rabbit Proof Fence
Rabbit Proof Fence (2002) "Three little girls. Snatched from their mothers' arms. Spirited 1,500 miles away. Denied their very identity. Forced to adapt
to a strange new world. They will attempt the impossible. A daring escape. A run from the authorities. An epic journey across an unforgiving landscape
that will test their very will to survive. Their only resources, tenacity, determination, ingenuity and each other. Their one hope, find the rabbit–proof

Figure 2: Kenneth Branagh as A.O. Neville
I am appalled that anyone would want to completely erase someone's culture. The treatment of Aborigines should be equal to the treatment of the rest
of Australian people. As aUnited States citizen, it is my belief that states, or countries, should be unified and treated as one by a single governing party.
The treatment of these people brings back to mind the terror and confusion during the Holocaust. Although not as intense or extreme, it is certainly a
similar situation where human beings are denied their personal rights of independence, mere existence, and happiness: "Aboriginal people should have
the opportunity of living without any limit on the exercise of their Australian citizenship, and on the equal terms with all other Australians" (Howson,
"Land Rights", quoting minister, Paul Hasluck, on the movement by the Methodist church). Humans desire a sense of belonging and religion is a key
factor in the pursuit of happiness. Regardless of what religion or beliefs, people must always have a sense of community which is founded in the
nation as a whole.

Summary Of The Movie 'The Castle'
'The Castle' is an iconic Australian movie, directed by Rob Stich. Filmed in 1997, it is set in 1980s Australia and really portrays the idea of the
stereotypical Australian family. Key values endorsed in this movie are family, home, community and justice. The movie explores the theme of what is
right, regardless of the law from the viewpoint of a middle class Australian family.
The key message of both the scenes is justice, beyond what the law states.
The first scene is when Darryl first makes an appeal to the court, trying to explain why what is happening just isn't right, but unfortunately with no legal
evidence, he doesn't get far. In this scene, Darryl is in a very empty courtroom with only him and Farouk, symbolising that at this point

Rabbit Proof Fence Poem Analysis
What would you do if you lost everything that you loved? What if the only thing you held dearly was your name? Good morning/ afternoon Miss Mc
Master and class. I am here today to express the hardships and horror that indigenous Australians suffered during Australian history. These indigenous
are the stolen generation. The wrong doings and crimes committed against them were horrific and disgusting. The texts The rabbits, Rabbit Proof fence
and No more boomerang are disempowering the original owners of this great country the Aboriginal people because of the language used and the
traditions within them.
The poem 'No more Boomerang' expresses the poet's feelings and thoughts about the stolen generation and the change of Australia once the white
settlers came. The reason I believe this is that the wording and structure throughout the poem is used in a manner that makes the reader think and feel
the emotions of the poet. The language used in this poem to show the disempowerment towards the indigenous were silencing or marginalizing one or
several groups. My first reason for this is that the poem describes the poets' culture and personal view on what happened during settlement. Secondly I

The disempowerment towards the indigenous Australians was shown in this movie through strong themes, by showing the Europeans being offensive,
abusive and judgmental towards the natives of the land. This can be seen in one of the first scenes of the movie when the European officer violently
steals the indigenous children from their mother and family and takes them away to a camp where they lost everything they held dearly. The movie
however shows the Europeans discussing plans of the outbreeding of the darker skinned people of

How Is Othello Relevant Today
Good morning Screen Australia,
Today I will be talking to you about the importance of Othello in today's society. Shakespeare's Othello contains many themes, which are relevant to a
majority of audience in today's society. Although many aspects of people's lives have changed, the issues in Othello are still considered relevant and
people are able to relate to them. The main themes and issues explored are racism, jealousy, and manipulation.
As you can see in the poster, these themes are clearly exemplified through (whatever you put on the poster.. half face? Mouth up/down) explain your

Despite the different time periods, the texts share the same universal ideas. In Sax's Othello, the issue of race is a forefront in social and political
settings made possible by its modern context. Sax comments on the racism found in the police force and society as a whole.
Much like Iago, Ben Jago's outburst to the audience is filled with anger and bestial imagery, "you stupid patronising ape" permeates his dialogue.
Though unlike Iago, Ben Jago says his racist remarks in a seemingly joking comment "you clever black bastard". Yet the sour tone of his statement
evokes dramatic irony.
Sax's Otehllo reached critical and commercial success in 1989 leading to a period of rapid production of modern Shakespeare films. Precisely, 14 new
feature films using the original Shakespeare text were made in just 10 years. Similarly, by making this movie using a Australian background, we can
not only raise awareness on discrimination in Australia, and aboriginal people but also spark interest in Shakespeares works which are known to
contain themes and values that transcend time. The play of Othello already contains important morals and values that we should all employ. However it
is crucial that we should appropriate this into a modern Australian context so that everyone can understand it

The New World Of Avatar
I agree that New Worlds need to be strikingly visual in order to make an impact because at the end of the day, any art form or media needs to gain
attention and attract viewers. A strikingly visual setting, when done right can tell many stories. New World media involves a lot of fantasy as it is a
striking, and an innovate way to view one's world in the context of another world. Avatar is one example of a New World media that is strikingly
visual and has had a huge impact in the movie industry, not only because it grossed over 2 billion dollars worldwide but because of the new age
technology needed to create such a masterpiece and the themes involved in the final product. The themes highlighting colonization, and it's affect on
the natives, or in this case, the Na'vi. all very similar to the real life aspects, but done in the form of fantasy so it is taking in a place of fiction.
Another example of a strikingly visual form of New World media is photography and Michael Cook's photography, which incorporates fantasy and
reality to bring light to social issues and various injustices that occurred due to colonization.
James Cameron's Avatar being in 3D was one element that contributed to the stiking visualization of the movie. 3D visualizations attract viewers
because 3D is the natural form of vision for predators. Stereoscopic 3D vision contributes to a sharper and more insightful trajectory interception,
hence the reason viewers are more drawn to 3D movies than 2D ones.

Textual Analysis Of Psycho
Psycho (In Italics) Analysis
There are many reasons movies become classics but all classic movies share one thing in common, they either shaped or revolutionised cinema in one
way or another. These elements can include certain techniques of mise en scene, or a story or theme that has never been explored in previous films, or
hasn't been executed in the same manner. Psycho (1960, Alfred Hitchcock) changed cinema in many ways, either through its themes of graphic
violence, which hadn't been seen in mainstream media before, or it being one of the first well executed movies, in which suspense played a key role.
This intertwined with the villain being a human was also very uncommon during this time. These aspects of the movie changed cinematography forever.
The infamous shower scene of Psycho is one of the most recognisable scenes in history. It left a lasting impression on the audience as the lead character
dying within the beginning of the movie was unprecedented. According to the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the death of Marion, Bates became the centre piece of the movie, turning him into a pseudo lead character. This allowed the movie to establish
a connection with Norman Bates which was inconceivable in films prior to its release. There were many key factors which allowed people to gain a
connection to Bates, however the main one was that he was not a mythological creature, he was a genuine person with no curse or modification to
make him seem less human. This allowed the audience to a certain degree, sympathise with him. As explained by Michael Brooke,
"There is that scene just after the shower murder when the car is sinking into the swamp and it pauses momentarily, and in a weird kind of way you
almost want it to carry on sinking. You don't want him to be discovered even though he is covering up this hideous murder."

Due to these factors, it can be harder for some people to overcome the barriers of belonging. This movie Romulus, My Father demonstrates how
belonging can be difficult for numerous people, whilst it shows how other people find it somewhat easier to belong. This movie is partly centred on
the concept of affiliation, and also the concept of exclusion through a range of various themes and some techniques. These include: migrant

The Great Gatsby By F. Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby Told by Nick Caraway, and written by Scott F. Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby is a classic novel that gives readers a glimpse inside
the lives of the wealthy during the roaring 20s. The story follows the lives of Jay Gatsby, a man of new money, Daisy Buchanan, a married girl of old
money, and Tom Buchanan, Daisy's deceitful husband.Jay Gatsby is a man of mystery, with seemly unlimited funds, who throws ridiculous outrageous
parties for no apparent reason. It's learned that he has become the rich man is he, to impress his love, Daisy Buchanan, whom he fell in love with five

Luhrmann showed this theme through imagery, narrative, set & costume design, cinematography, and spoken dialogue. Imagery and color is used to
distinguish the difference between social classes. The wealthy are shown in a more colorful and vibrant atmosphere, while the working or low class
are shown in a bland, colorless, dirty environment, like the Valley of Ashes. In one scene, Gatsby drives by a group of workers, who look rugged and
unclean, in his shiny custom Rolls Royce, showing the contrast between the two groups. Not only was there a gap between the rich and poor, but the
newly rich and the old rich. Gatsby had just recently acquired his wealth, while Tom and Daisy had inherited their wealth. Many of the characters in
The Great Gatsby were in disbelief and disapproved of the newly wealthy, such as Gatsby, believing that all sorts of crazy lies about him. This was
displayed mainly through spoken dialogue. People often said Gatsby got his money in outrageous ways, that he was "the cousin of an evil German

upper class. Tom, who was born with money, had said to Gatsby "we're all different from you– we were born different, it's in our blood, and nothing

Australia Film Analysis
English Assessment:
Australian films, are well known for their outback landscapes, unique Australian animals, indigenous heritage and the unmissable quirky characters But
are these stereotypes portrayed in Australian movies politically and culturally correct? Is Australia really only about a bunch of Bogan's kicking their
feet around in the red sand, wrestling crocodiles and going walk about with a few stereotyped aboriginals?
Dear selection panel I am here today because you asked for recommendations on what Australian films should be shown in the Australianfilm festival

out of touch. Once summer is over and school starts, Sandy worries because she is going to a new school in America and is scared she will not make
friends. Once she is there she quickly befriends "The pink ladies" ( a popular clique of girl greasers at Rydell High.) Danny Zuko, also a greaser, is the

Jason Film Techniques
Questions
So Jason will your idea of a remake be economically appropriate for the remake of this film?
Why do you believe that they need to show more themes and mateship throughout the film?
Thanks Jason!
In 1981, Peter weir directed a now iconic film on the mateship, tragedies and the affects that war had on people. In particular he focussed on Australians
fighting at Gallipoli. Through his cinematography, characterisation and symbolism, he demonstrated Australians as a bunch of comrades going on an
adventure through life and he portrays this perfectly through the two main characters, Archie and Frank. It would be arrogant of us to change this
movie in anyway as Weir's film was a tribute to the soldiers and having a remake just to make money would be selfish and offensive to the men and
women who fought in the war.

The film follows 16 year old Archie and 20 year old Frank as they become best mates as they travel from rural WesternAustralia to join the army. The
cinematography in these moments is just a, 'one in a generation' kind of thing. In particular, the scene where the camera is zoomed out on the arid
Australian desert, showing Frank and Archie gradually closing the gap between each other. This symbolises their mateship along the journey as they
became closer friends. They also focussed a lot on the lead up to the war to showcase Australia's beautiful scenery and to really create a background for
the characters. Through weir's characterisation, we constantly learn more and more about the main characters as they become good mates and through
his stellar cinematography and symbolism, viewers really feel a connection to the ANZAC legend and the theme of mateship that is intertwined

Australian Film Australi Multicultural Identity Essay
Through Australian film Australia to discuss its multicultural identity.
1.Introduction
It is proudly acknowledged that Australia has played a role of the pioneers in the sublime world film industry, leaving abundant benefits to the nation so
as to obtain a relative cinematic enjoyment in the contemporary era. Along with strong adherence to its multicultural value, it is foundational to the

powerful relation with Aussie audiences. Multiculturalism primarily describes the difference between the modern Australian culture and its nation. The
difference, as far as possible, enable to ensure every Australian citizens and nation's interests. The film Australian discusses from the perspective of the

Great Gatsby Movie Comparison
Summer can sometimes feel like torture, especially if you find yourself with nothing to do. It is during these times that watching an entertaining
movie can bring your dull and boring day to one that is filled with excitement and exuberance. To enlighten your day, two movies you should watch
over the summer are The Great Gatsby and Frozen. If you like movies that are action packed, filled with drama, and involve classy parties, then The
Great Gatsby is a perfect movie for you. Leonardo Dicaprio is the star of the film, and with him, the movie can be a huge hit or a huge miss;
thankfully, this one was a huge hit. If you are a book lover, this movie would be considered rotten tomatoes for you because the underlying theme
and character based on the book, The Great Gatsby, is not clearly addressed in the movie, though the plot of the movie is fairly on board with the
plot of the book. This is the only minor flaw with this film, but as I always say why read books when you can watch films. Once you get past the
movie's openings, filled with visual awe, you can really settle down into the film's dark second half, which is filled with symbolism. Leonardo
Dicaprio is the film's greatest special effect because his mysterious looks, and body language bring a sense of enthusiasm and appeal upon the film.
His mischievous eyes describe how he is not the man he wishes to be, and the man the others expect him to be. The Great Gatsby is currently not

Peter Weir's Film 'Gallipoli'
It can be argued that the modern world was formed under the influence of innovation, revolution, conflict and ideology. Peter Weir's film Gallipoli is
undoubtedly an inspiring and thought–provoking story that bring alive the blood–drenched fields of history. It considers why soldiers enlisted, our
relationship with Great Britain, and the coming age of Australia as a nation. Many historians, however, suggest that the film does not tell a totally
accurate version of what happened in this key moment in our nation's story.

[1] In the book "The Story of Gallipoli", published in 1994 Gammage clearly stated that he believes the film is historically accurate. He pointed out

[Gallipoli]." [1] Through examples such as "several scenes were built up from photographs and from words used and idea expressed in diaries and
letters." [1] Bill Gammage attempted to convince the readers by addressing simple facts. In this particular passage, Gammage illustrated the crew and
actors in rigorous figures and emphasised the hard work they put in with detail descriptions. There was no doubt that all of these efforts were paid off
with the magnificent visual impacts that the film created. Comparisons between the film and primary photographs demonstrate that the geographical
and historical features (E.g. settings, trenches, living conditions, customers etc.) from the film were fairly accurate and therefore proving Gammage's

What Is The Australian Landscape

  • 1. What Is The Australian Landscape A poem is a way to escape, a way to feel something you've never felt, see something you've never seen, and go somewhere you've never gone. Poets have always used their language, tone, and devices to transport their reader to see a new and different perspective on key aspects of society. One distinct example of this, is the depiction of the Australian landscape which is expressed from varying perspectives in different poems, including John Tranter's Backyard, Jill Jones's Transformations in a City Block, and Dorothea Mackellar's My Country. Tranter has expressed the suburban scenery, with which a majority of Australians are familiar with, as well as a realistic life and the idea of living simply. Jones, as well as Tranter, shows the real environment in which most Australians live, the city, contrary to the belief of many. On the other hand, My Country illustrates the ideal and well known Australian landscape of the bush and natural environment, which is not a completely accurate representation of Australians and how we live. Nevertheless these poems work together to form a cohesive anthology concerning the different perspectives of Australia and its' scenery, revealing the duality of this countries landscape and a contrast between the ideal and real environment in which Australians live. The poem Backyard conveys the notion of the simple yet chaotic life that is found when living in the landscape of suburban Australia. This blank verse poem of seven stanzas has slight rhythm, no rhyme and has utilised enjambment throughout. These aspects contribute to the sense of reality and chaos created as the poem sound closer to normal speech, as though you're just have a conversation with the narrator. The poem follows the events that occur and environment of a family's backyard, discussing the various aspects with which most Australian's would be able to relate with to some degree and overall telling the reader to live life simply. Moreover, the use of the rhetorical question 'Is that a fifties home movie, or the real thing?' makes the audience think about what the true Australian landscape really is. People outside of Australia don't tend to associate this country with the suburbs but this statement makes them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Club, By David Williamson Australia is filled with many different aspects in which makes it the country it is today. I believe it is important to study texts that explore aspects of Australia by studying texts such as 'The Club', by David Williamson, a play written in 1977 about an Australian football club and movies such as "The Castle", directed by Rob Stitch in 1997, about the daily life of an Australian family when their happiness is threatened when developers attempt to buy their house to expand the neighboring airport. Both these texts show us what Australian life was like in the past. By us looking at themes such as language, tradition and the mateship shown we are able to explore different aspects of Australia that make it what it is today. Williamson's play, 'The Club', accurately reflects many Australian attitudes of today, even though the play was written many years ago. Some of the attitudes expressed, such as tradition, are still equally relevant in todays society. Tradition plays a very important part in 'The Club'. The characters have their own ideas thinking that tradition must be changed to achieve success in todays society. For example, Laurie, the coach, blames an old Club tradition for his failure to win a premiership. He states, 'You and your cronies wouldn't let me buy players.' Jock, the vice–president, replies, 'We were upholding old tradition. It was wrong, but we believed in it.' They should have believed in their club as tradition often gives us insight into what outcomes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Examples Of Imperialism "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" This is the famous quote by President Roosevelt in 1933, during his inaugural address to the nation. He was trying to convince the people that the impact of fear can be minimised by focussing on a positive future where fear was overcome with positive thinking and belief in society. Fear is an indispensable emotion that we all possess. It is not something new. It is rational and is directed at 'real' things in the world. Fears are always changing through different eras of time, but some still remain the same through the course of history. It has marked societies when facing plagues or wars, and many believe that the world is a more dangerous place today than it ever has been. The fears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Colonel Quaritch states, "We'll fight terror with terror" in order to achieve his goal. Greed for the valuable minerals of the land blinded the disrespect shown for the people who actually lived there in trying to exterminate them. Even though Aliens did not quite fit this theme as no one was trying to pillage the land of valuables, it should be remember that the Aliens were indigenous to the planet LV–426, and were only protecting themselves when they felt threatened. In the end it was a matter of survival for the human crew who were in fear of the Aliens. Motherly protection came into play for both Ripley (protecting Newt) and the Queen Alien (protecting her ... • 4. On The Beach Theme In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, it develops the theme how humans end up destroying themselves. The theme indicates that during a nuclear war nobody wins. Even the survivors that manage to survive the fallout of a nuclear war end up committing suicide rather than dying painfully from nuclear radiation. A social situation in today's world that connects to this theme is the conflict that we have ISIS. If ISIS manages to get nuclear weapons, the results would not differ largely from that of the movie. In the movie, On The Beach produced by Stanley Kramer, the theme of self destruction connects very well to the ideas in the movie. • 6. Paper Planes Film Analysis The film 'Paper Planes' is a heartwarming Australian film, based on a true story, directed by Robert Connolly, written by Steve Worland and starring Ed Oxenbould and Sam Worthington. The film begins in outback Western Australia where 12 –year–old Dylan (Ed Oxenbould) is living with his with his widowed depressed father (Sam Worthington). One day at Dylan's school a student teacher shows Dylan how to make a perfect paper plane. He discovers he has a passion for making them and decides to enter the world of competitive paper plane making. During the movie Dylan meets memorable characters like Kevin (the main character's mate), Kimi (a Japanese contestant), Jason (another contestant who bullies the protagonist) and struggles with his relationship with his father after the death of his mother. The movie is 'G' rated and aimed at children aged around 7–12 years. The movie met its target audience because I feel they would be able to relate to this movie the most, but I also feel that the movie would be enjoyable for children of all ages and parents. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, however, I did have some small issues with the film. The movie was entertaining with a fun plot line and quality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. The Rabbit Proof Fence By Philip Noyce Philip Noyce`s film 'The Rabbit Proof Fence' (2002) and Jill Ker Conway`s autobiography 'The Road From Coorain"(1989), discuss and compare many of the same themes which express the importance of 'home', and its significance to the protagonists of the texts. The Rabbit Proof Fence follows the journey of three young indigenous girls who were taken from their homes in 1931, as apart of the stolen generation. Conway's autobiography is a personal reflection of her up brining in rural Australia, and how her life changed when she was forced to move into the big smoke. They both utilise the explicit nature of discrimination in Australia, against indigenous Australia as a major narrative drive. Both texts illustrate the themes of transition of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conway had found the transition to be overwhelming and difficult, as the lifestyle is very different in the city compared to the farm life that she was used to. Conway realises the significance rural Australia was to her up bringing, as she describes the landscape of New South Wales in compelling detail. With its plains and endless horizons, its ever–present red dust, its emus and kangaroos and kookaburras. Conway recalls that the land is like "a kookaburra feeding St. Jerome or accompanying St. Francis. They belong to a physical and spiritual landscape which is outside the imagination of the Christian West." The writer suggests that landscapes have a powerful role in identity. Moving away from home to a foreign place is closely related to the experiences, which the three girls from 'The Rabbit Proof Fence' had endured. You can only imagine how hard it would be for the native people of Australia. Who have been living off the land for thousands of years and expected to be required to leave their homes. The rabbit–proof fence is a versatile symbol of home throughout the movie. For example, when the girls first encounter it on their trek to Jigalong, they embrace it passionately with the camera cutting to an emotional scene of their mother (Ningali Lawford), holding the fence, hundreds of kilometres away, even over distance, the mother and her children are still connected. This powerful scene enhances the idea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Rabbit-Proof Fence By Phillip Noyce The Rabbit–Proof Fence directed by Phillip Noyce, is a story of Aboriginal life in 1931 Western Australia, at the time of the stock market crash in America, and specifically the time of Australia gaining independence from Great Britain and implementing the Aboriginal Act, an act allowing the Protector of the Aborigines to relocate random family members to white camps. The story follows three girls, Molly (14), Gracie (10), and Daisy (8) being relocated by the Protector of the Aborigines, Mr. Neville, aka Mr. Devil. In the camp, Molly notices a rain cloud, inferring she and her family members must escape, as the rain will cover their tracks, something they are familiar with through years of hunting animals by their tracks. The girls escape, and after a long journey of chasing, aid from helpful strangers, and memorable family moments, the girls successfully follow the 990 mile fence to their home, but loose their cousin Gracie on the journey.... Film The Adventures Of Priscill Queen Of The Dessert Australia is a vast landscape, known for its laid back attitude, beautiful never ending beaches and snags, but Oz has more to offer than just slang culture. An example of the quality entertainment that Australia produces can be seen in the 1994 film, "The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Dessert". As a source for the study we chose two movies, family comedy–drama Red dog directed by Kriv Stenders and different comedy–drama Muriel's Wedding. Red dog, more comedy or drama? The movie is based on a real story of a legendary red dog that came to the city of Dampier and united a disparate community of local people. It was a community of mine workers, they didn't have a lot joy in their lives, emigrants from different countries, missing their homes, far from families and friends. Vanno drives them crazy with his talks about native town and being effusive they beat him up. The image of Vanno is depicted stereotypical as well. This source of controversy is often examined in movies, both fictional and historical. Two examples of this are the movies Rabbit Proof Fence which recalls the real–life colonization experiences of three Native Aborigine girls, as well as the movie Avatar which tells the story of colonization to a foreign planet with alien natives. While both Rabbit Proof Fence and Avatar examine theculture and relationship between natives and those who want to colonize their land, each movie differently portrays this theme and have different outcomes. While this may seem like a peaceful way to assimilate Natives to, in this case white colonial culture, assimilation also includes the destruction of a native culture (Wallace 1988). In both of movies characters take their own unique stand against the oppression and assimilation of colonist. While it may not have been on as large a scale as in Avatar, in Rabbit Proof Fence, instead of staying at the camp and continuing to learn and adapt to European culture, the oldest of the three girls used knowledge taught in Aborigine culture to escape from the camp without leaving any trace to be found. Overview of the Australian Film Industry Australian Film Industry 1 Era before World War I Australian film industry had good and bad times or 'boom and bust' (Stratton, 1990) in period of last 100 years and that is why it can be called a fragile industry. If we look at the history, era before 1914, we find out that Australia was counted as one of the biggest film making countries of the world. This Australian film industry took the honor of being first to produce world's first feature film in 1906, The Story of the Kelly Gang. The local movie production was on its peak in year, 1911 in which fifty one movies were released (Pike and Cooper, 1998). Although this number does not seem very impressive today but in those times, Australia was counted as the fastest film producing country. In only two years, between 1910 to 1912, more than 90 narrative films were produced and between 1906 to 1928, this number reached to 150 (Moran and Vieth, 2005) .This high production is never seen after that period. Set in a working mine, the "Pilbara Wanderer" was known for his 'hitchhiking', travelling around the globe from person to person, perusing great loyalty, adopting people and bringing the community together. This classic Aussie movie has shown the loyalty of dogs and the sense of community spirit. Red Dog seems to be the typical 'Aussie' lighthearted drama film, set in the outback of Australia, where all roads lead to the pub– and in this movie quite literally. From the beginning to the end, there is a selection of typical 'Aussie' style music, such as the classic 'Eagle Rock'. There is also themes of loyalty and mate–ship between a man and his dog, which is common in the typical Australian outback lifestyles. The acting was authentic and original to the era, there was definitely a sense of Australian humor amongst it. Persuasive Speech: If We Should Stop Buying Australian Films Good morning ladies and gentlemen, Let me ask you a scary question–what would happen if our Australian film industry stopped producing films all together? If we stop producing Australian films no one will be able to experience Australia, its people and its diverse culture. Australian films are therefore low budget, they focus on more realistic themes, and where by contrast Hollywood films are more glamourous and fantastic allowing the audience to escape reality. The Australian film industry has so much potential and I believe you should keep producing films. Australian products supposedly have a cultural cringe because we do not see it necessary to buy our products; therefore audiences do not see it necessary to watch movies about our country and everyday life. Australians see our films as retelling a story about our history such as The Rabbit Proof Fence, a story about the stolen generation, a topic that is frequently in the media. Australian films also tend to portray Australia as a rural developing country with kangaroos and jackeroos, doing little to promote the great achievements of our nation. The texts highlight the issue of racism using the characters Jasper in 'Jasper Jones' and Susan in 'Jindabyne'. The texts are able use these characters to successfully challenge the audience views on racism and how it effects individuals and society. 'Jasper Jones' is a novel written by Craig Silvey in 2009, set in 1965 in a small town named Corrigan. The one overarching theme that Silvey addresses in 'Jasper Jones' is the idea of growing up and the loss of innocence that occurs with growing up. Silvey explains that there is living like an adult and being an adult, living like adults is having no critical filter and still follows the same lifestyle they did as a child, while becoming an adult is having a critical filter with the ability to challenge ideas etc. (Silvey, n.d.). In the movie, the human protagonist takes the form of a local alien Na'vi in a conflict between humans and the Na'vi. The conflict arises because the humans in the film have arrived at the home of the Na'vi, Pandora, and begun to exploit its resources. At first, they ignored the Na'vi, but their quest for resources is now taking them into direct conflict with the native peoples of Pandora. The Na'vi are the only humanoid residents of Pandora, which is otherwise populated by abundant flora and fauna. In the imperialism parable, the Na'vi are the native peoples of Africa, the Americas, Australia and Asia; while the humans in Avatar are representative of the Europeans during the Age of Imperialism. During the Age of Imperialism, Europeans spread across the globe, setting up colonies and exploiting the resources of the lands that they found. When they began to set up colonial rule in those lands, there was tremendous suffering among the native peoples. Many native peoples during the Age of Imperialism lost their way of life to the imperialist powers. In Avatar, the loss of a way of life, and in broad the loss of culture altogether, is a theme explored in when the humans seek to destroy the Hometree as part of their plan to exploit the resources of the planet. These indigenous are the stolen generation. The wrong doings and crimes committed against them were horrific and disgusting. The texts The rabbits, Rabbit Proof fence and No more boomerang are disempowering the original owners of this great country the Aboriginal people because of the language used and the traditions within them. The poem 'No more Boomerang' expresses the poet's feelings and thoughts about the stolen generation and the change of Australia once the white settlers came. New World media involves a lot of fantasy as it is a striking, and an innovate way to view one's world in the context of another world. Avatar is one example of a New World media that is strikingly visual and has had a huge impact in the movie industry, not only because it grossed over 2 billion dollars worldwide but because of the new age technology needed to create such a masterpiece and the themes involved in the final product. James Cameron's Avatar being in 3D was one element that contributed to the stiking visualization of the movie. 3D visualizations attract viewers because 3D is the natural form of vision for predators. The cinematography in these moments is just a, 'one in a generation' kind of thing. In particular, the scene where the camera is zoomed out on the arid Australian desert, showing Frank and Archie gradually closing the gap between each other. This symbolises their mateship along the journey as they became closer friends. They also focussed a lot on the lead up to the war to showcase Australia's beautiful scenery and to really create a background for the characters. Through weir's characterisation, we constantly learn more and more about the main characters as they become good mates and through his stellar cinematography and symbolism, viewers really feel a connection to the ANZAC legend and the theme of mateship that is intertwined throughout the ... • 40. Great Gatsby Movie Comparison Summer can sometimes feel like torture, especially if you find yourself with nothing to do. It is during these times that watching an entertaining movie can bring your dull and boring day to one that is filled with excitement and exuberance. To enlighten your day, two movies you should watch over the summer are The Great Gatsby and Frozen. If you like movies that are action packed, filled with drama, and involve classy parties, then The Great Gatsby is a perfect movie for you. Leonardo Dicaprio is the star of the film, and with him, the movie can be a huge hit or a huge miss; thankfully, this one was a huge hit. If you are a book lover, this movie would be considered rotten tomatoes for you because the underlying theme and character based on the book, The Great Gatsby, is not clearly addressed in the movie, though the plot of the movie is fairly on board with the plot of the book. This is the only minor flaw with this film, but as I always say why read books when you can watch films. Once you get past the movie's openings, filled with visual awe, you can really settle down into the film's dark second half, which is filled with symbolism. Leonardo Dicaprio is the film's greatest special effect because his mysterious looks, and body language bring a sense of enthusiasm and appeal upon the film. His mischievous eyes describe how he is not the man he wishes to be, and the man the others expect him to be. The Great Gatsby is currently not playing in theaters, but was ... • 41. Peter Weir's Film 'Gallipoli' It can be argued that the modern world was formed under the influence of innovation, revolution, conflict and ideology. Peter Weir's film Gallipoli is undoubtedly an inspiring and thought–provoking story that bring alive the blood–drenched fields of history. It considers why soldiers enlisted, our relationship with Great Britain, and the coming age of Australia as a nation. Many historians, however, suggest that the film does not tell a totally accurate version of what happened in this key moment in our nation's story. I was shocked by Weir's simplistic and inaccurate portrayal of the attack at the Nek. The various inaccurate representations and twisted historical facts demonstrated in this classic Australia film were utterly beyond belief. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [1] In the book "The Story of Gallipoli", published in 1994 Gammage clearly stated that he believes the film is historically accurate. He pointed out that "...great care was taken" [1] in making the film and the film itself was attempting to suggest "...as fully as possible what it felt like to be there [Gallipoli]." [1] Through examples such as "several scenes were built up from photographs and from words used and idea expressed in diaries and letters." [1] Bill Gammage attempted to convince the readers by addressing simple facts. In this particular passage, Gammage illustrated the crew and actors in rigorous figures and emphasised the hard work they put in with detail descriptions. There was no doubt that all of these efforts were paid off with the magnificent visual impacts that the film created. Comparisons between the film and primary photographs demonstrate that the geographical and historical features (E.g. settings, trenches, living conditions, customers etc.) from the film were fairly accurate and therefore proving Gammage's idea/ statement. Through the whole article, Bill Gammage, however, did not mention the biased historical issues, such as the nationality of Colonel Antill and the actual distance between the trenches and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three take a main part in the whole legend of the anzac, mainly in their unwritten promise to eachother. Billy, Snowy, Barney and Frank are first introduced in the movie at the railway line where they work and their strong friendship is shown right from the get go. Billy is reading the news paper supposedly about the beginning of the world war and his exact words are "Bastards! That is it, I'm joining up" The conversation follows with Snowy agreeing to join as well and as any group of boy friends theres always one that gets teased. In this case Barney, he wasnt 100% sure as to whether he wanted to join up. "oh be it, the girls go wild over a uniform" and of course the next comment comes along " In your case, I dont think anything would help". The classic aussie banter is shown through out this whole movie but honestly it purely shows the bond they have with eachother.
