shelves were striking.
• Personnel: We had to guess who is
customer and who is store personnel
• Products: Sign “New” actually drew
more attention to a particular section.
• Customers: Are attracted and show
contentment when their after-sales
service are met. Accommodating
facilities and methodology used to make
shoppers feel pleased.
3. Men, Women and Kids
clothing
• Display : Reasonable lighting created the
right atmosphere in store.
• Environment: Zoning certain areas ,like
using one colour to indicate the women's
clothing section and another to draw
attention to the men's) made it much easier
for the shopper to understand the layout of
store.
• Personnel: Attentive and guiding well
according to customer needs.
• Products: Relevant to the season. the
products offer good value.
• Customers: “I felt delighted to have
variety of items to choose from.”
4. Toy shop
• Display: Overloaded store windows were
not allowing me look inside the store.
• Environment : The beauty of zoning by
colour was used reasonably.
• Personnel: Deliver exemplary service,
shoppers feel pleased.
• Products: Display materials were
appropriate for all ages, but the items
display were congested and not easily
reachable.
• Customers: “Stuffy inside the store.”
5. Shoes and bags
• Display: One of the best examples of
how extravagant products are arranged.
• Environment: Serene with light music
to stay in store and enjoy while
browsing around.
• Personnel: Ability to calmly interact
with customers and were smartly
dressed up.
• Products: Exceptional.
• Customers: “Their customer service
skills enhance business and are popular
for that.”
6. Sports wear
• Display: Displaying brand ambassadors
with great extravagance.
• Environment: The height and level of
products were adequately filled the space.
• Personnel: The product knowledge and
enthusiasm was conveyed face to face.
• Products: Balance between product and
space to roam around made the display
look aesthetically pleasing. Items were
simply lined up linearly. Vary the height
and level of your display to adequately fill
the space.
• Customers: “Pleasant shopping
experience, customers inclined to return.”
7. Gift shop
• Display: The lighting used to illuminate the
display was eye catching
• Environment: Background materials and props,
a few mannequins and assorted inventory; a
scene that makes a statement, created a potential
to visualize items in context. This made me
more likely to stop in and browse.
• Personnel: Too over-eager, sequacious
• Products: Attention-grabbing.
• Customers: “Shop attendants are not trained to
deal with customers the way we want them to.”
8. • Surprising as it may seem, the meticulous
efforts that shop owners make to enhance the
shopping experience of their customers really
pays off, and the minutest of details actually
attract customers (read: profits) for their
store. This project proved to an eye opener
for me and has definitely helped me in
improving my observation skills.
