Art Gallery Observation
The gallery that I attended was the 39th Annual Fall Juried Art Exhibition and as explained in the
gallery its purpose is to serve local artists and allow them opportunities to show their work. This
gallery was put on by the Midland Arts Association as well as Midland College and took place in the
McCormick Art Gallery found in the Alison Fine Arts Building. The artists whose pieces could be
found in the exhibit are local artists who range from professionals to students. With over 100
different pieces of art, there were many kinds of media used throughout the exhibit including:
Watercolor, acrylic, graphite, oil, photographs, and many forms of mixed media. The gallery looked
very nice and the pieces were all very well lit, a viewer is nearly ... Show more content on

This two dimensional artwork is described as a mixed media piece. Over half of the pieces
background is a pattern and repetition of red, blue, and green squares. This section of the painting
appeared to have the texture of something paper like, although I am not entirely sure, but it had
some ripples in the surface of it that paint could likely not accomplish. The main focus of the
painting, which is a portrait of who I assume to be David Bowie was clearly done with some type of
paint. This artwork, in my opinion was well executed and proved the artist has a great deal of talent;
the use of color brings emphasis to the main focus of the piece and was a big reason as to why this
piece was my favorite in the exhibit and why I chose to discuss it in this report. Bowie does not
appear to be in any specific place, as the background is just patterns and color. The art was unlike
anything else I saw there and gave me feelings of the 1970s, like I was looking into a colorful lava
lamp or maybe a kaleidoscope. The artist used both cool and warm colors, and although the portrait
of Bowie is exclusively done with cool colors the red traces in the background is what is most
evident to me when I look at this piece. This is likely due to it being next to the color blue, which is
opposite of it on the color wheel. The title is what poses many questions to me about this piece.

Design Of An Exhibition Gallery
Some are like sea serpents, others like office cubicles, but regardless the shape, all art museum
galleries intend to give viewers a certain experience. The flowing into, out of, and around gallery
spaces within an art museum can positively or negatively affect the patron's experience.
Unfortunately, when the design of an exhibition gallery negatively affects a viewer, a disservice is
done to the artists and culture of the artworks on view. On view in the permanent collection of the
Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas is the exhibition of several seventeenth and eighteenth
century artworks with Spanish influences, accompanied by a single Japanese artifact of the same
era. At first glance, all the pieces on display within this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The grouping of these paintings is quite clear from a historical and visual standpoint. The paintings
each feature warm colors with a splash of vibrancy, apparent subjects, perhaps due to their
monochromatic backgrounds, and also display the same sort of calm and collected subject matter
that much of Spanish Baroque art concentrated on. The Wine Flask, whose creator is unknown, fits
in with warm color scheme and dates back around the same time as the rest of the exhibition,
however it has a known origin of Japan.
Entering the gallery from the main corridor, the patron has two openings to choose from, one on the
left and one on the right, due to the placement of a single white vista wall. With a single exit way on
the side parallel to the entryways, a bench placed in the center of the gallery, and no floor designs
suggesting a specific route, the intended circulatory path of this exhibition is unclear. To view each
artwork within the exhibition and exit into the next gallery, the viewer is forced to travel the same
path they came at least once. Having an undefined pathway in the layout of this gallery leads to
further issues in the exhibition. The most apparent issue is that the viewer is unable to immediately
recognize if there is a focal piece in the gallery. Being in a rectangular room with two parallel white
vista walls and the remaining walls being featured in the same beige stone material with no single
focal lighting element,

Galleries Of Justice Essay
Chapter 7: Crime, Punishment and Ghosts of the Galleries of Justice The Galleries of Justice has
been in existence for centuries now and has been used for law enforcement purposes for over 600
years. It has prison cells, a hall that was once used as a police station and courtrooms that were in
operation until 1986. Back in the days of the Norman invasion, this place was used for collecting
taxes and housing the sheriffs. It was known as the Sheriff's Hall or the country Hall and some even
believe that it was the base of the Sheriff of Nottingham, the archenemy of Robin Hood. Much later,
in the 17th century, there were ideas to renovate the building but it was being postponed lazily until
one day the courtroom floor gave in and solicitors, jury and the public went crashing ... Show more

This can be a really nerve–wracking experience going inside. People who've been here have
reported a feeling of extreme sickness soon after coming into the area, so much so, that they feel like
fleeing immediately. Some people have reported being touched by some invisible hand. Others have
heard disembodied footsteps. A few have even been scared away by a dark figure looming here.
Among all the places, the caves are considered to be the most haunted place of all. It is rich in
poltergeist activity and people have seen things being thrown around. A cross and other times,
stones have been flung across here, and it is common to hear loud noises and bangs here. People
have reported being touched here as well. Animal bones and other strange artifacts have been found
here. Mediums who have investigated the place have mentioned that human sacrifices had once
been done here. An investigation team was exploring the caves when two women in the group
looked utterly terrified. They had both witnessed a black shape moving about ominously. Much
later, another person in the team heard a cat meow, even though there are no cats

The Gallery Of Modern Art
The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is honoured to present an exhibition titled 'Image and Text: A
Feminist Narrative', with which it will be opening its door to the public on the 12th September and
closing on the 15th October. When image and text are integrated with one another in the creation of
contemporary art, artists are able to produce powerful and extremely effective messages of their
choice. However, just because the image and text are displayed together, does not mean they relate
to each other, as the text can either support the image, or contradict the image in order to
demonstrate the transparency of either or both elements (Williams and Simpson, 1994). Two artists
who have been able to incorporate image and text in their pieces are, contemporary American artist,
Barbara Kruger and contemporary Australian artist, Jenny Watson. Here at GOMA were have
created the 'Image and Text: A Feminist Narrative' to displays the provocative and stimulating ways
Kruger and Watson have used both text and image to convey personal, dream, socio–political and
feminist narratives. Whilst Barbara Kruger is an American feminist whose work is centred around
critiquing advertising culture and the representation of women during said advertising, Jenny
Watson is an Australian feminist who uses expressive figurative images and incorporates text panels
similar to autobiographical diary entries. The combination of these two artists display strong
messages to their audience, doing so in an

Locker Gallery Essay
For extra credit, I visited the Locker Gallery on Friday, December 1st. This gallery appeared to have
different artist's work present, but their art was much more expansive, detailed, and followed
individual themes compared to Gallery II. The exhibit mainly had paintings on display, but other
media was also incorporated into some pieces. When entering the gallery, a large section of the left
walls was taken up by sizable paintings which appeared to be created by the same artists based on
the style and colour scheme. The five pieces consisted of earth tones and incorporated the illusions
of light, movement, and flow into each painting. One work from the collection particularly
captivating was the carousel piece. It had a haunting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This piece was very symbolic and filled with so many aspects that you can notice and analyze new
things each time you look at it. On the opposite side from where I examined the first paintings was
another space filled with sizable works. I assume these works were also done by one artist since like
the other large painting collection, it had a distinct colour scheme and style. Some of the paintings
were large, quirky portraits of people and others were solely abstract paint on a canvas. In both the
portraits and images, the painting's similar styles and techniques were consistent throughout. The
colour scheme worked with warm colours like oranges, reds, and purples with some browns. One of
the standout techniques from this collection was the use of splatter that had physical weight (check).
You could see the various layers on the canvas, which gave the pieces depth. The last piece I'll talk
about is one of my favourites. Across from the long, environmental piece was more of what would
be considered an exhibit. "Fresh Meat" was written on the wall. On the ground was a hand–held
shopping cart depicting the Fresh logo on its side. In the middle of the wall, 3 "meat" items were on
display for sale– all of which looked real and ready to buy. There was a ready to bake pizza with
mini human legs as a topping, a USDA Grade A human breast, and a USDA Grade A human liver.

This 2D piece of art work was one the most interesting pieces of work in the Nohr Gallery. This
piece of art work has two oriental women on the sides of the white princess. They are all standing
tall in the center of the drawing. Around these three characters you will find tall and short flowers
along with what looks like weeds. This painting is also done in a vertical matter. To start, in the
bottom of this painting you will find weeds and flowers sprouting from the ground and the bottom
of the girls dresses. In the middle of this painting you will find the girls along with two birds. One of
the two oriental girls is holding a basket of fruit while the other one is holding nothing. All three of
the women have good posture as well as what looks like tightly bunched up hair. The hair isn't long
and flowing. The two Oriental girls have bows in their hair for maybe a traditional reason. ... Show

This message from what I read about the fortunes means you are going to do good in the future. The
four fortunes say "You are a talented story teller.", "Congratulations! You are on your way.", "You
are a person of another time.", "Now is the time to try something new!" These positive encouraging
messages I thought were trying to per sway the viewers that you're going to be something great in
the future. Also, the princess in the middle also shows that you're going to be well known and well
respected. Also, the artist shows a lot of flowers and weeds. It could mean that since you have
beautiful flowers you will have a beautiful wife. Further, the weeds could be roadblocks that are
going to occur in your life and the flowers will over grow them. This could also mean that you can
overcome anything as you become more mature and age more. I can relate to this piece of art work
by it giving me inspiration and a message of you are going to be great in the future, keep working

University Galleries
On September 18,2017 I visited the University Galleries located at Texas State University had an
amazing piece of art on display called The Last Supper: 700 Plates Illustrating Final Meals of U.S.
Death Row Inmates created by Julie Green. Once entering the exhibit the viewers' attention focuses
on the deep black letters painted onto the wall, revealing the statistics of the death penalty in the
United States. Moving throughout the room the inmates last meals were painted onto ceramic plates
varying in size and style. Julie Green displayed the ceramic plates in a thick horizontal line on all
four walls of the exhibit giving the viewers' an understanding for each meal. Specifically on plate 66
the artist caught my attention with the color, texture, and lines illustrated throughout the ceramic
plate. The plate was from an inmate in California who requested white meat chicken from Kentucky

On plate 66 there was a great amount of value painted onto the plate displaying different tints and
shades throughout. The face on the Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket had a light tint mainly around
the cheekbone, opposed to the eyes and mustache had a dark shade. In addition, the sugar–free
pecan pie had a dark shade towards the center of the pie with a light tint on the crust making a great
contrast with each other. Shifting to color intensity on the ceramic plate, it was very muted giving
the viewers a gloomy, and depressing feeling. The artist most likely did this due to the fact it was the
last time the prisoners were going to enjoy a meal before being executed. Proceeding to the last
component of color, which is hue. Julie Green used different shades of blue to express how serious
the death penalty was, and to show how many people are executed in the United

The Art Gallery Analysis
The art gallery accurately represents the industrial revolution because it shows advanced agriculture,
increased industrial production, social integration, and change in political regulations. The industrial
revolution increased the ability to farm more crops at a faster rate and hire less workers. It also
helped to create fertilizer and other products that increased the production and growth of the plant.
These innovations made jobs that were otherwise not needed. In picture E, you can see the machines
that were used in the field to separate the grain from the stock and turn the stock into bundles of hay
to be sold as feed. The product could also be transferred from one place to another in greater
quantity and in a smaller amount of time. These improvements led to farms that were farther away
from the city and had more room to farm because of that. Industry was changed during the
revolution with the invention of the steam engine that allowed the factories to be built in places that
were not close to rivers where they use to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In A Picture Gallery Poem
In the third stanza the poet echoes the shyness which was mentioned in the first stanza, describing
discretion and secrecy as essential elements of true love. To break this discretion, to attempt to share
this private world with others, is , to the poet, a mistake. It is a "Love that holds itself in doubt".
Here again the contrast between the mind and true feelings can be seen, This stanza ends with the
words that seem to be a definition of love for the poet: "For love is quiet, and love is kind".
As far as form is concerned, the poem consists of three stanzas with six lines each. The rhythm of
the poem is regular one and all the three stanzas rhyme according to the following rhyme scheme:

we share are more interesting than the things that separate us.

Art Gallery Analysis
The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a number
of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm painting. The
composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea. The artwork has
no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply oil on canvas. The
overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back–to–back, enjoying their hour with
tea. Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about leisure time that corresponds
with the artwork's line, color, and pose. When I first glanced at this painting, one cannot help but
notice the overall fuzziness of the composition. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the hues in the piece either lack are tints or shadows, lacking in saturation. Therefore, when
one views this work instead of feeling engulfed or perhaps even overwhelm by the canvas, like
when strong chroma of colors are used, the viewer is relaxed. With the color and brushstrokes, the
composition has a soft and fluffy quality which only adds to the tranquility of the scene. In addition
to the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work, Knox's use of analogous colors supplements the
composition's peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue and
the plant life in the background as well is a shadowed green. The shadowed green appearing first to
the left of the umbrella, and to the right of the umbrella. The analogous pair aiding in a relaxing the
viewer but also establishing unity through the rhythm of the repeated shadowed green. That unity, in

The Art Gallery Of Ontario: A Comparative Analysis
Architecture is the manifestation of many intangibles. The museums in Ontario such as the Royal
Ontario Museum (the ROM) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (the AGO), both illustrate many
intangible forces – the vision of the architects, the ambition and hope of the clients, as well as the
resolve of the community, etc. These two representatives of Ontario's public institutions have both
gone through the transformation from the classic style to the contemporary one. The ROM is

by their creativity and the intricacy in every doll. Every detail looked like it had been carved with

and animals into them. One theme I noted, in many of the paintings and statues was that the majority
of american Indians appeared as a regal and proud figures always seeming to be connected to the
Earth in a spiritual way. Since simply looking at the artist's name gives little indication whether they
are part of a American Indian tribe, I wondered if some of paintings were done by white men who
romanticize Native American customs. I'm not certain if this is a stereotype or something else;

Although "La Rosa" is a digital photograph, the viewer can still see that it is a mixed media piece.
While examining this exquisite piece in person, it is abstractly profound by a technique of how
everything is placed together by a collage type of form. The way the emphasis is on the flower is
quite beautiful that brings this photograph together. The variation of colors, writing, and cut–outs

Case 1: Lancer Gallery
Article Summary:
Lancer Gallery LLC is a company that has specialized itself has as a reputable dealer in authentic
artifacts from Southwestern United States, South American and African. Their reputation over the
past several decades increasingly grew amongst the public through various pieces they placed for
sale, as they were carefully verified for authenticity. Eventually, Lancer Gallery was able to expand
their product lines to include replicas that were created by craftspeople who crafted them similarly
to the original. Despite, the new product line, replicas contributed to a small portion of the business.

Lancer would have to triple its replica production
Clearly the terms and the offer overall, if accepted, would change the direction of the company and
the vision of the business. According to the president of Lancer there were both upsides and
downsides. He claimed that the $4 million would add to the sale number and increase the growth of
the company, increasing revenue erosion. However, the business model would shift to replicas,
which was not what Lancer was known for to its dealers and customers.
Question 1: What is Lancer's distinctive competency?
Lancer has made its reputation and profit by specializing in procurement; specifically, in a wide
variety of South American and African artifacts. In fact, this specialization, has allowed them to
expand its product line a few times since the 1900s. Moreover, the competency in procurement has
made them recognizable to dealers, customers, and mass merchandisers (who are interested in
partnering with them in distribution deals).
Question 2: What is Lancer's relationship with existing dealers?
Currently Lancer seems to have had a solid relationship with their dealers, from a credibility
perspective. Over a period of time, they have built their reputation by providing authentic products,
due to their core competency – procurement. One can argue that the increase of competitors, has
also added a strain to the relationship with distributors because of the battle for business.

Shain Gallery Report
I visited a small gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina called the Shain Gallery. The exhibition that is
currently on display is by the artist Arless Day. The exhibition consists of painted mixed media on
canvas (some had frames) and paint on canvas (no frames, on the floor, and leaning on the
partitioned walls). My focus during my visit to the Shain Gallery was on the signage, layout and
spacing, lighting, and distractions. When I walked into the gallery, I did not see any signage for the
exhibition. There were cards on a small entry table, but I did not notice them until I was walking out
of the gallery. I would fix this problem by placing vinyl on the wall parallel to the entrance with the
name of the exhibition and maybe adding some arrows for directions. I did not notice the labels for
the artwork at first because the text is on a sticker the same color as the walls, making it look almost
translucent. Some of the artwork did not have labels, which was not a big distraction personally, but
I think adding labels next to all the artwork would cause less confusion. The exhibition artwork are
placed on and around partitioned walls in the front of the gallery. One critique that I have about the
layout is that I did not know that there were more artwork behind the partition walls and I did not
know if the art was a part of the exhibition or if it was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

window displays, but it was difficult to view the artwork from a nice distance because the partition

Strategy
Dr. Alan Smith

Chapter 6 Homework 1) Describe SWOT analysis as a way to guide internal analysis. How does this
approach reflect the basic strategic management process?
It is a widely used technique where managers create a quick overview of a company's strategic
situation. The basic premise behind SWOT analysis is that an effective strategy derives from a
sound "fit" between a firm's internal strengths and weaknesses and its external situation. The idea is
to leverage the company's strengths in light of the opportunities and minimize its weaknesses and
threats. SWOT analysis is an integral part of the strategic management process because strategy is

The Public Urban Multisensory Presentations or PUMP is an art exhibition that displays cross–

The disaster acted as a proxy for growing chain of erratic events of late.
Each print in Katie Stubblefield's Twister series was created from four separate woodcut panels and
then transferred onto 12"x16" archival paper using acrylic print ink and acetate film with image
transfers. Displayed on the opposite wall of these prints, were the four woodcut panels use to create
them. I absolutely loved that she did this, as I feel this gave the audience an intimate look on just
how these prints came together. Each of her prints utilized two or more of the woodcut panels – one
layered over another, to create a completely new design for each print.
The Twister series is based on real–time reports and dramatic experiences of tornado touchdowns
ripping through a forest. The compositions are very abstract and only contained pure black ink, with
slight grey washes, on white archival paper. Each print contained black lines, varying between thick
and thin, which lay on the page vertically and diagonally, giving the illusion of tree branches. The
lines met one another in a mangled muddle, as splotches of black debris washed over them, as the
soft grey haze set a somber disposition. Each print follows the tornado at a different time of its
chaotic mayhem within the forest. Along with her forest themed canopy from her Canopy series,
which hangs directly above her Twister series, it pulls the viewer in as if they themselves are right in
the heart of the chaos. I think placing these

The Carleton University Art Gallery's current exhibition We Are Continually Exposed to the
Flashbulb of Death: The Photographs of Allen Ginsberg (1953–1996), is a linear timeline of the
lives, romances, and works of the American Beat generation. The exhibition, curated by Barbara
Fischer and John Shoesmith, is a survey of Allen Ginsberg's photographs, which capture the
freedom, artistic creations, and the open sexuality of this group. The organization of the exhibit,
along with the added captions below each photograph, create a narrative of a past generation, both
capturing and reflecting on an era. The Carleton University Art Gallery, commonly referred to as

Photo number 38 is two side by side photos of two nude men. In the first image, they are covering
themselves with their hands, with small grins on their faces. The second photo shows them standing
more proud, revealing their bodies to the camera, with more serious looks. The caption scrawled
below the images reveals that this is a portrait of Ginsberg and Gregory Corso. Corso was also a
writer and poet, popular in the 1960s and 1970s, who, just like the rest of the Beat generation, was
interested in questioning the pre–existing academic, political, and social conventions of the world .
The two nude photographs are so indicative of this movement, because they question societies
preconceived ideas of nudity. The idea that the naked body is something inherently sexual, is a
long–standing idea that many people in the Beat generation were questioning. This is not a sexual
photograph, or even a romantic one. In his caption of the photograph, Ginsberg points out that they
are "not lovers but poets and Jackanapes ". This is just one of the many ways that Ginsberg manages

Certain types of institutions have an impact on certain kinds of representations. Small scale, artist–
run centres foster exposure, growth, and offer support to contemporary artists as opposed to large
institutions and commercial galleries. Gallery 44, Centre for Contemporary Photography located at
401 Richmond Street West in Toronto is one such artist–run centre that contributes to the growth of
contemporary photography and artists. As one of the leading artist–run collectives in Toronto,
Gallery 44 has been operating for over 35 years and has thus been a key player in putting on
exhibits, productions, and offering workshops for the study of photography. On the "about us" page
of their website, Gallery 44 states that it "is a charitable, non–profit, artist–run centre committed to
supporting multi–faceted approaches to photography and lens–based media. Founded in 1979 to
establish a supportive environment for the development of artistic practice, Gallery 44's mandate is
to provide a context for meaningful reflection and dialogue on contemporary photography,"
(gallery44.org). According to Professor Sarah Parsons at York University, "artists were the force
behind Gallery 44, a collective formed in 1979 to share production facilities including a darkroom
and studio space. This made the necessary technology to make photographic work available to a
wider array of practitioners and helped to create another community hub." Soon after, Professor

I visited this gallery on September 16th and liked that this gallery is open to the public and has free
admission. The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery contains wonderful art that are all originals. These visual
arts come in a variety of forms like painting, sculptures, crafts, and jewelry. The Fifth Avenue Art
Gallery has a wide variety of art too from different artists and a beautiful collection of different
pieces. I selected the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery because I was curious to see how other people
viewed Florida through their art. Two artists in particular caught my attention, Bill McCoy and
Nancy Hamlin–Vogler. Bill McCoy is a traditional oil painter that creates paintings that reflect
Florida's lifestyle and nature. His paintings are semi–realistic and capture the beauty of Florida. Bill
McCoy's medium is oil on canvas, and uses Florida as inspiration. Nancy Hamlin–Vogler is an artist
of many talents and creates art in various different mediums like acrylic, charcoal, and mixed media.
Her artwork is sporadic and spontaneous that ignites deep thought and emotion. The gallery is
arranged by collections and artists, so an artist's collection is all together and not all around the
gallery. I walked around the whole gallery and look at all the different art, some art was truly

it also took steps to update its public persona to be more representative of the full spectrum of

DESCRIPTION OF THE GALLERY The first thing that a visitor notices upon visiting the Sensing
Chicago gallery is the tactile experience. Everything begs to be touched. The exhibits are oriented
low to the ground so as to be accessible to the eight– to nine–year–old target audience, and there are
no guardrails of any kind to inhibit accessibility. The labels, the floor, and the exhibits themselves
are painted in bold, exciting colors and the walls are covered with pictures of smiling children and
iconic sights of Chicago. It is hard to imagine the space not appealing to the sensibilities of a young
child. The layout of the 1500 square–foot space is physically divided into six areas corresponding
with different colors on the floor. Five of the areas feature hands–on exhibits that use each of the
senses as entry points for children's personal exploration of Chicago history, and the sixth area is
designed so that children can personalize their experience by leaving their own mark on the
exhibition hall. This structure incorporates whole–body sensory experiences to communicate that
every participant has the ability to explore and experience history all around them. The gallery
presents sensory experiences that fall into two categories: past and present. By juxtaposing

took the risk to pursue this partnership for several reasons. First as a community hub this project
served as outreach to the larger community, second through this partnership the AGR would be able

powerful to the audience. In most cases the AGR does not have budget for the rental of this high–

Georgia, Ford Smith. His paintings are very vibrant, intergenic, and bright. They stood out to me
among all the art in the gallery. Ashley's Art Gallery is a small family owned art gallery, that has
been in operation since 1973 in Fuquay–Varina. Although Ashley's Art Gallery is small is has been
on the Greenwich Workshop 's top galleries since 1997. They try to be very accommodating to their
customers. The gallery is easy to navigate with many different type of art on display. They feature:
jewelry, floral sculptures, pottery, and many different categories of paintings. Seeing art in person is
much different than seeing art in a book, online or projected images. The colors and texture of
Smith's paintings are very prominent in person. I noticed from the brochures that the gallery has of
Ford Smith's art, the photographs can't translate the factual colors of his work. The paintings in the
gallery stand out and call your attention. Smith's paintings are pulsating with color; they truly stand
out on the pale gallery walls. Ford Smith was a military brat, which means he was raised by a
military family. His father was in the Air Force. At the age of twelve his family was stationed in

Women During The Renaissance Era
Introduction
During the Renaissance era, beauty was portrayed as being overweight in sense of the human body
and purity. Women 's figures and forms were viewed as alluring and sensuous as they were never
believed to be fat but a full figure.
The Renaissance period was a cultural movement that started in the 1400 's in Florence, Italy which
expanded throughout most of Europe, and lasted into the early years of the 16th century. The
perception of what was regarded as beautiful changed, women did not burden themselves with
thoughts like gaining extra weight. Women in the Renaissance Era were in several ways much more
natural than the women of today.

By 1994 many people were familiar with Saville 's massive paintings, such as 'Plan ' (1993) an oil
painting on a 9 ' × 7 ' canvas, in which a naked woman is seen from below and her body filling the
canvas through a combination of physical bulk and extreme distortion with outlines similar to a

And 'Branded ' (1992) an oil painting on a 7 ' × 6 ' canvas where she painted her own face onto an

Following the success of her show at the Saatchi Gallery in 1994, this generated a great deal of
publicity for her work. Saville moved to New York City for a period of time where she spent
observing the work of Dr. Barry Martin Weintraub, a plastic surgeon based in the city.
Saville gained a better understanding of the human body and the various manipulations that can be
made which is also why many of her pieces present distorted flesh, blatant brush strokes, and oil–
coloured blotches. She was allowed to sit through and watch a plastic surgeon this helped her get an
understanding of how the human body worked, and was able

Art : The Gallery Space
One of the most important aspect of the art world is the gallery space, where they house and
showcase the works of art itself. Space where there are works hung on the walls, sculptures on
pedestals, and area where people can go in to observe and experience the works of art. There are
tens and hundreds of gallery spaces in Toronto, and these galleries can generally be categorized in
two separate groups : Institutional galleries, and commercial galleries. Art Gallery of Ontario, more
popularly known as the AGO, and Diaz Contemporary Gallery greatly contrasts from each other
although they are both gallery spaces with the purpose to show and exhibit artworks. While AGO
serves as an institutional gallery with the goal to educate the public, Diaz contemporary works as a
commercial gallery trying to market the works and their artists. The differences between their goals
and aims can be seen in multiple elements such as the gallery space itself, the management, and
their relationship with the public. The environment of these two galleries differ greatly. Let 's start
with the simplest of them all, the location. AGO is located right in downtown core on the corner of
Dundas street and McCaul avenue, walking distance from the major shopping centre, and it is right
beside the art institute OCAD University (Ontario College of Art and Design University). AGO is

consider Phoenix, Arizona home. They are a large company that have a well–respected reputation
for sourcing and selling African and South American artefacts and replicas, along with Native
American pottery and jewellery.
Problem Definition
Lancers current problem as a company is deciding whether they want to reposition themselves.
Being a part of such a specialised and particular market makes repositioning a higher risk for them.

$4m but would require the organisation to mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would essentially be repositioning their brand image in the market. Lancer currently have a
well–respected and well regarded brand image and they do not focus on sourcing and selling
replicas and in turn they have maintained this strong brand identity. Though this may not be
reflected in their sales and by repositioning they would increase both sales and profit but the
company would certainly decrease their image and their standards would undoubtedly have to lower
with this decrease in brand identity.
B. Decline the contract from the mass department store;
Pros – If Lancer were to decline this offer from the mass department store the advantage lies in their
brand and the image that they maintain in the market. If they were to accept all terms of the offer
that pertain to the contract it means that the gallery would have to start sourcing and selling products
that are not up to the usual standard that they are known for. So if the company decide to decline the
contract they would remain at the top of the market in terms of quality and brand identity.
Cons – The contract with the department store would increase annual revenue by $4m and from
Lancer's current sales number this is a number that cannot be ignored. The company would continue
with decreasing sales and profits if they do not

Throughout this exhibit the viewer might "look" and "glance" not really paying to much mind to the

"experience" instead of "look" when referring to art pieces. Because, we are doing far more with our

Ok maybe not that far apart, but that's the feeling the viewer gets when looking at their pieces.
There's also different experiences from each that are widely different. For Cochran the viewer needs
to think deeper and further than they're used too. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that it's
somewhat unnerving. Why? You say could because the viewer is truly getting an understanding of
the pieces. In that feelings are being brought out because of a piece, feelings that the viewer had no
idea art could bring out. Now if we were to relate this to Durkin's' pieces they are "worlds apart".

The Art Gallery Of Museum Gallery
When talking about the art gallery, the first scene occurred to my mind was the art gallery of
museum. I went to some museums before to appreciate the artworks of different eras and cultures.
Because I had lived in China for around twenty years, the most works I enjoyed were created by
Chinese and they were filled with Chinese elements. And the majority of these artworks exist a long
time and have diverse historical stories. Certainly, I had looked some contemporary arts, they
delivered varieties of thoughts of the artists, reflecting their concerning about the current society, the
life and death, even their unique opinion of the sex. So when we asked to do the gallery review,
what I considered the gallery on this campus was that it would be more similar to a museum gallery
which was constituted by lots of antique artwork. There would be many stories in the works,
involving historical elements such as war and peace, also religious bible stories. Even I wondered
that there would be prehistorical styles–the Bronze works or ceramic works–presented in the gallery.
Filled with curiosity, I attended the gallery show. What surprised me was all of the artworks were
created by the professors in the school rather than professional artists outside the school. And most
of them produced in recent art styles, such as photography, sketching, collage and woven dresses
and etc. As what I wondered, this gallery showed some bronze and ceramic works, even they

Personal Values Of Art
Art History 3.6
Values such as personal, symbolic, religious and iconic can be shown in these three major artworks,
Christian Boltanski's 2010's artwork 'Personnes', Damien Hirst's 2007's artwork 'For the Love of
God' and Jeff Koons's 1994 – 2010's artwork 'Balloon Dog/Balloon Rabbit'.
Christian Boltanski's "Personnes" reflects personal values as he believed that art raises many
questions and fulfilling emotions but there's no answer to neither of them. He assumes that death is
unpredictable, chance is watching every human life as they live on their life. His intention is to
allow each viewer to observe these compiled clothes of "mass graves" and "honouring the dead". He
created this artwork to reflect the personal values of each deceased personal experience and
"commemorate the lives of others", to leave the human trace as they moved onto the afterlife.
Personal values is reflected on each part of the artwork such as the compiled pile of clothes making
up the whole artwork itself and form them as shrines of the deceased, creating a "personal effect" on
the viewer as well as communicating with them. Personal values are also reflected on not just
clothes but other people's belongings, as reminders that there was a time when they once wore them
and show sympathy and connect with them on a deeper level, as Laura Cumming, art critic for The
Observer states; "this was an art that spoke so clearly and simply that a child could understand it and
so it is, to some extent, with

Renaissance Art Gallery
Movements and Art Gallery
a. Renaissance
Renaissance movement is a period which took place between 14th and 17th century. It began in Italy
and later spread to the rest of European countries. It was a cultural movement which tried to invent
what was intellectually referred to as humanism. This period is characterized by a more natural
reality in painting as well as educational reform. (Brotton, 2006).
Latin and vernacular literatures became common in this period with emergence of learning
techniques based on classical sources. It is this period that shaped the political and social structures
in Italy.
The renaissance art work symbolized a rebirth in the cultural practices both in the middle ages and
in modern times. A number of works of art took place at this period and propagated by different

Tintern Abbey. This piece of painting occurred in 1794 and was done by Mallord William Turner
after he made two visits to Tintern Abbey a monastery founded in 1131 but neglected in 1536. He
was overwhelmed by the site and painted a piece showing the smallness of man alongside the
wilderness of nature. The second example is Fishermen at Sea, work done by Turner still in 1794
where he sketched the sky, clouds and nature in general to show the wonderful environment where
man lives and the wonders of

The Lancer Gallery Case
Lancer Gallery, originated in the 1900's, developed reputation as one of the nation's most prominent
sources of artifacts for its careful authentication. With gross sales about $35 million and increasing
at a constant rate of 20% per year over a decade, has its headquarters in phoenix, Arizona and
opened branch offices in Los Angeles, Miami and Boston.
Because of aggressive competition, buyers dealing directly with Lancer Gallery sources and sales of
original artifacts together with huge number of replicas in stores has decreased the gross margin of
Lancer Gallery. Meanwhile, a mass merchandise department store chain came up with a contract to
buy Lancer Gallery replicas at a rate 10% below its actual price and with an initial minimum

Rolls Royce is never a need, it's a want for those who demand it.
Rolls Royce Strategy
Original artifacts are bought by collectors, who irrespective of the price of the artifact would like to
buy it. Also how YOU EDUcate your special dealers, firm sponsored showings and few exclusive
department stores is very vital. Lancer Gallery should concentrate more on collectors, who generally
are the buyers of original artifacts, as artifacts stand unique and signifies a status in the society.
On the other hand, Lancer Gallery can distinguish and educate the importance of original artifacts to
its clients and continue producing the same number of replicas with the existing craftspeople in
delivering the artifacts as good as the original and selling them at cheaper prices than the original.
As more and more companies are coming up with a theme in producing more replicas, the supply
might exceed the demand and may lead to a price war. Instead, selling a single artifact that is
original and unique makes Lancer Gallery achieve its gross margin with very less number of sales
and also helps the brand image of the company. Lancer Gallery can now establish as one of the
companies to produce original artifacts and also can educate people in distinguishing the original

Art Gallery Observation

  • 1. Art Gallery Observation The gallery that I attended was the 39th Annual Fall Juried Art Exhibition and as explained in the gallery its purpose is to serve local artists and allow them opportunities to show their work. This gallery was put on by the Midland Arts Association as well as Midland College and took place in the McCormick Art Gallery found in the Alison Fine Arts Building. The artists whose pieces could be found in the exhibit are local artists who range from professionals to students. With over 100 different pieces of art, there were many kinds of media used throughout the exhibit including: Watercolor, acrylic, graphite, oil, photographs, and many forms of mixed media. The gallery looked very nice and the pieces were all very well lit, a viewer is nearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This two dimensional artwork is described as a mixed media piece. Over half of the pieces background is a pattern and repetition of red, blue, and green squares. This section of the painting appeared to have the texture of something paper like, although I am not entirely sure, but it had some ripples in the surface of it that paint could likely not accomplish. The main focus of the painting, which is a portrait of who I assume to be David Bowie was clearly done with some type of paint. This artwork, in my opinion was well executed and proved the artist has a great deal of talent; the use of color brings emphasis to the main focus of the piece and was a big reason as to why this piece was my favorite in the exhibit and why I chose to discuss it in this report. Bowie does not appear to be in any specific place, as the background is just patterns and color. The art was unlike anything else I saw there and gave me feelings of the 1970s, like I was looking into a colorful lava lamp or maybe a kaleidoscope. The artist used both cool and warm colors, and although the portrait of Bowie is exclusively done with cool colors the red traces in the background is what is most evident to me when I look at this piece. This is likely due to it being next to the color blue, which is opposite of it on the color wheel. The title is what poses many questions to me about this piece. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Design Of An Exhibition Gallery Some are like sea serpents, others like office cubicles, but regardless the shape, all art museum galleries intend to give viewers a certain experience. The flowing into, out of, and around gallery spaces within an art museum can positively or negatively affect the patron's experience. Unfortunately, when the design of an exhibition gallery negatively affects a viewer, a disservice is done to the artists and culture of the artworks on view. On view in the permanent collection of the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas is the exhibition of several seventeenth and eighteenth century artworks with Spanish influences, accompanied by a single Japanese artifact of the same era. At first glance, all the pieces on display within this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The grouping of these paintings is quite clear from a historical and visual standpoint. The paintings each feature warm colors with a splash of vibrancy, apparent subjects, perhaps due to their monochromatic backgrounds, and also display the same sort of calm and collected subject matter that much of Spanish Baroque art concentrated on. The Wine Flask, whose creator is unknown, fits in with warm color scheme and dates back around the same time as the rest of the exhibition, however it has a known origin of Japan. Entering the gallery from the main corridor, the patron has two openings to choose from, one on the left and one on the right, due to the placement of a single white vista wall. With a single exit way on the side parallel to the entryways, a bench placed in the center of the gallery, and no floor designs suggesting a specific route, the intended circulatory path of this exhibition is unclear. To view each artwork within the exhibition and exit into the next gallery, the viewer is forced to travel the same path they came at least once. Having an undefined pathway in the layout of this gallery leads to further issues in the exhibition. The most apparent issue is that the viewer is unable to immediately recognize if there is a focal piece in the gallery. Being in a rectangular room with two parallel white vista walls and the remaining walls being featured in the same beige stone material with no single focal lighting element, ... • 5. Galleries Of Justice Essay Chapter 7: Crime, Punishment and Ghosts of the Galleries of Justice The Galleries of Justice has been in existence for centuries now and has been used for law enforcement purposes for over 600 years. It has prison cells, a hall that was once used as a police station and courtrooms that were in operation until 1986. Back in the days of the Norman invasion, this place was used for collecting taxes and housing the sheriffs. It was known as the Sheriff's Hall or the country Hall and some even believe that it was the base of the Sheriff of Nottingham, the archenemy of Robin Hood. Much later, in the 17th century, there were ideas to renovate the building but it was being postponed lazily until one day the courtroom floor gave in and solicitors, jury and the public went crashing ... People who've been here have reported a feeling of extreme sickness soon after coming into the area, so much so, that they feel like fleeing immediately. Some people have reported being touched by some invisible hand. Others have heard disembodied footsteps. A few have even been scared away by a dark figure looming here. Among all the places, the caves are considered to be the most haunted place of all. It is rich in poltergeist activity and people have seen things being thrown around. A cross and other times, stones have been flung across here, and it is common to hear loud noises and bangs here. People have reported being touched here as well. Animal bones and other strange artifacts have been found here. Mediums who have investigated the place have mentioned that human sacrifices had once been done here. • 7. The Gallery Of Modern Art The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is honoured to present an exhibition titled 'Image and Text: A Feminist Narrative', with which it will be opening its door to the public on the 12th September and closing on the 15th October. When image and text are integrated with one another in the creation of contemporary art, artists are able to produce powerful and extremely effective messages of their choice. However, just because the image and text are displayed together, does not mean they relate to each other, as the text can either support the image, or contradict the image in order to demonstrate the transparency of either or both elements (Williams and Simpson, 1994). Two artists who have been able to incorporate image and text in their pieces are, contemporary American artist, Barbara Kruger and contemporary Australian artist, Jenny Watson. Here at GOMA were have created the 'Image and Text: A Feminist Narrative' to displays the provocative and stimulating ways Kruger and Watson have used both text and image to convey personal, dream, socio–political and feminist narratives. Whilst Barbara Kruger is an American feminist whose work is centred around critiquing advertising culture and the representation of women during said advertising, Jenny Watson is an Australian feminist who uses expressive figurative images and incorporates text panels similar to autobiographical diary entries. The combination of these two artists display strong messages to their audience, doing so in an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Locker Gallery Essay For extra credit, I visited the Locker Gallery on Friday, December 1st. This gallery appeared to have different artist's work present, but their art was much more expansive, detailed, and followed individual themes compared to Gallery II. The exhibit mainly had paintings on display, but other media was also incorporated into some pieces. When entering the gallery, a large section of the left walls was taken up by sizable paintings which appeared to be created by the same artists based on the style and colour scheme. The five pieces consisted of earth tones and incorporated the illusions of light, movement, and flow into each painting. One work from the collection particularly captivating was the carousel piece. It had a haunting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This piece was very symbolic and filled with so many aspects that you can notice and analyze new things each time you look at it. On the opposite side from where I examined the first paintings was another space filled with sizable works. I assume these works were also done by one artist since like the other large painting collection, it had a distinct colour scheme and style. Some of the paintings were large, quirky portraits of people and others were solely abstract paint on a canvas. In both the portraits and images, the painting's similar styles and techniques were consistent throughout. The colour scheme worked with warm colours like oranges, reds, and purples with some browns. One of the standout techniques from this collection was the use of splatter that had physical weight (check). You could see the various layers on the canvas, which gave the pieces depth. The last piece I'll talk about is one of my favourites. Across from the long, environmental piece was more of what would be considered an exhibit. "Fresh Meat" was written on the wall. On the ground was a hand–held shopping cart depicting the Fresh logo on its side. In the middle of the wall, 3 "meat" items were on display for sale– all of which looked real and ready to buy. There was a ready to bake pizza with mini human legs as a topping, a USDA Grade A human breast, and a USDA Grade A human liver. This collection spoke ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Ehr Gallery Essay This 2D piece of art work was one the most interesting pieces of work in the Nohr Gallery. This piece of art work has two oriental women on the sides of the white princess. They are all standing tall in the center of the drawing. Around these three characters you will find tall and short flowers along with what looks like weeds. This painting is also done in a vertical matter. To start, in the bottom of this painting you will find weeds and flowers sprouting from the ground and the bottom of the girls dresses. In the middle of this painting you will find the girls along with two birds. One of the two oriental girls is holding a basket of fruit while the other one is holding nothing. All three of the women have good posture as well as what looks like tightly bunched up hair. The hair isn't long and flowing. The two Oriental girls have bows in their hair for maybe a traditional reason. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This message from what I read about the fortunes means you are going to do good in the future. The four fortunes say "You are a talented story teller.", "Congratulations! These positive encouraging messages I thought were trying to per sway the viewers that you're going to be something great in the future. Also, the princess in the middle also shows that you're going to be well known and well respected. Also, the artist shows a lot of flowers and weeds. It could mean that since you have beautiful flowers you will have a beautiful wife. Further, the weeds could be roadblocks that are going to occur in your life and the flowers will over grow them. This could also mean that you can overcome anything as you become more mature and age more. • 15. University Galleries On September 18,2017 I visited the University Galleries located at Texas State University had an amazing piece of art on display called The Last Supper: 700 Plates Illustrating Final Meals of U.S. Death Row Inmates created by Julie Green. Once entering the exhibit the viewers' attention focuses on the deep black letters painted onto the wall, revealing the statistics of the death penalty in the United States. Moving throughout the room the inmates last meals were painted onto ceramic plates varying in size and style. Julie Green displayed the ceramic plates in a thick horizontal line on all four walls of the exhibit giving the viewers' an understanding for each meal. Specifically on plate 66 the artist caught my attention with the color, texture, and lines illustrated throughout the ceramic plate. The plate was from an inmate in California who requested white meat chicken from Kentucky Fried Chicken, a buffalo steak, sugar–free pecan pie, sugar–free black walnut ice cream, Indian pan– fried bread, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On plate 66 there was a great amount of value painted onto the plate displaying different tints and shades throughout. • 17. The Art Gallery Analysis The art gallery accurately represents the industrial revolution because it shows advanced agriculture, increased industrial production, social integration, and change in political regulations. The industrial revolution increased the ability to farm more crops at a faster rate and hire less workers. It also helped to create fertilizer and other products that increased the production and growth of the plant. These innovations made jobs that were otherwise not needed. In picture E, you can see the machines that were used in the field to separate the grain from the stock and turn the stock into bundles of hay to be sold as feed. The product could also be transferred from one place to another in greater quantity and in a smaller amount of time. These improvements led to farms that were farther away from the city and had more room to farm because of that. To break this discretion, to attempt to share this private world with others, is , to the poet, a mistake. It is a "Love that holds itself in doubt". Here again the contrast between the mind and true feelings can be seen, This stanza ends with the words that seem to be a definition of love for the poet: "For love is quiet, and love is kind". As far as form is concerned, the poem consists of three stanzas with six lines each. After observing a number of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm painting. The composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea. The artwork has no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply oil on canvas. The overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back–to–back, enjoying their hour with tea. Lancer would have to triple its replica production Clearly the terms and the offer overall, if accepted, would change the direction of the company and the vision of the business. According to the president of Lancer there were both upsides and downsides. He claimed that the $4 million would add to the sale number and increase the growth of the company, increasing revenue erosion. However, the business model would shift to replicas, which was not what Lancer was known for to its dealers and customers. Question 1: What is Lancer's distinctive competency? Lancer has made its reputation and profit by specializing in procurement; specifically, in a wide variety of South American and African artifacts. In fact, this specialization, has allowed them to expand its product line a few times since the 1900s. Moreover, the competency in procurement has made them recognizable to dealers, customers, and mass merchandisers (who are interested in partnering with them in distribution deals). Question 2: What is Lancer's relationship with existing dealers? Currently Lancer seems to have had a solid relationship with their dealers, from a credibility perspective. Over a period of time, they have built their reputation by providing authentic products, due to their core competency – procurement. One can argue that the increase of competitors, has also added a strain to the relationship with distributors because of the battle for business. Question 3: Under what ... Exhibitions, opening receptions, special events and artists talks provided many visitors with a positive experience. A good combination of pieces that go well together." "Wow! Complex on so many levels. Food for thought "Very timely and important show. Everyone should see and experience." Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2016/17, we partnered with 33 groups on 24 different projects b)As mentioned above the AGR has expanded partnerships. New partnerships require a high investment of time to establish. The staff hours continue to be stretched at the AGR, however the payoff of a new partnership, if successful, can expand resources, build the AGR audience, and allow us to present more programming. This past fiscal year the AGR embarked on a partnership that was somewhat outside of the standard. This was a partnership with Nature Conservancy Sask to mount an installation called Escape to Nature. Although not an art project the project did hold artistic merit. The AGR took the risk to pursue this partnership for several reasons. First as a community hub this project served as outreach to the larger community, second through this partnership the AGR would be able to present an immersive projection experience in the gallery space – something that is visually powerful to the audience. In most cases the AGR does not have budget for the rental of this high– end projection equipment and the technicians required – this was a chance to see such a project in the AGR space. Finally, we knew this was an opportunity to build audience and raise the profile of the gallery. This extended to hosting numerous school groups tour and workshops in conjunction with the project. For these reason space was made in the schedule between exhibitions present the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Ford Smith : Art Gallery Ford Smith I went to the Ashley's Art Gallery in Fuquay–Varina and spoke to the gallery owner, Rick Mullen, about local artists. As we walked around he pointed out some paintings by artists in the triangle area, but what truly caught my eye were two paintings by an artist out of Roswell, Georgia, Ford Smith. His paintings are very vibrant, intergenic, and bright. They stood out to me among all the art in the gallery. Ashley's Art Gallery is a small family owned art gallery, that has been in operation since 1973 in Fuquay–Varina. Although Ashley's Art Gallery is small is has been on the Greenwich Workshop 's top galleries since 1997. They try to be very accommodating to their customers. The gallery is easy to navigate with many different type of art on display. They feature: jewelry, floral sculptures, pottery, and many different categories of paintings. Seeing art in person is much different than seeing art in a book, online or projected images. The colors and texture of Smith's paintings are very prominent in person. I noticed from the brochures that the gallery has of Ford Smith's art, the photographs can't translate the factual colors of his work. The paintings in the gallery stand out and call your attention. Smith's paintings are pulsating with color; they truly stand out on the pale gallery walls. Ford Smith was a military brat, which means he was raised by a military family. His father was in the Air Force. At the age of twelve his family was stationed in Japan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. The Gagosian Gallery The Gagosian Gallery in London is a space that really complimented the work of Ed Ruscha, and artist that currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Extremes and In–Betweens is an exhibition I visited recently when in London. I have chosen to discuss this Artist and exhibition in particular due to the great impact the work itself had on me when I viewed it. Upon entering the galleries reception you are immediately greeted with three of Ruscha's Acrylic on Museum board paper pieces. Text that is put on the canvas tends to interplay with a background, the way two things effect each other can be very impactive. When applied it tends to be placed in a way where it is either ascending or descending. He wants to promote the words more as an object rather then a simple piece of text. Some of his pieces incorporate directional markers that contrast straight lines and curvature. This style of working is one of many techniques Ruscha has used over his career that has lasted more than five decades. Some examples of techniques he practices are drawing, painting, film making, print making, publishing and photography. Everything is his own design. His art is elegant and iconic and is highly associated with the pop art movement. His intention is to leave people who view it confused, questioning the meanings behind his pieces, he say himself "Showing work in a gallery is not an easy thing to do because you're kind of putting yourself out there". I personally feel that he has achieved leaving viewers in question, his work is intreating and I personally want to know more about it. I really enjoyed viewing Ed Ruscha's work, I find him to be a very influential and inspiring artist. When looking into him I became very fascinated with his use of text, it can have such a big impact and make a great difference to a canvas. • 63. Women During The Renaissance Era Introduction During the Renaissance era, beauty was portrayed as being overweight in sense of the human body and purity. Women 's figures and forms were viewed as alluring and sensuous as they were never believed to be fat but a full figure. The Renaissance period was a cultural movement that started in the 1400 's in Florence, Italy which expanded throughout most of Europe, and lasted into the early years of the 16th century. The perception of what was regarded as beautiful changed, women did not burden themselves with thoughts like gaining extra weight. Women in the Renaissance Era were in several ways much more natural than the women of today. Compositions from the Renaissance period frequently fixated on women who would ... After the exhibition, she studied on a six month scholarship at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio where she was inspired by all of the big women she encountered in America and was influenced by feminism. By 1994 many people were familiar with Saville 's massive paintings, such as 'Plan ' (1993) an oil painting on a 9 ' × 7 ' canvas, in which a naked woman is seen from below and her body filling the canvas through a combination of physical bulk and extreme distortion with outlines similar to a geographical map. And 'Branded ' (1992) an oil painting on a 7 ' × 6 ' canvas where she painted her own face onto an obese female body which the size of the breasts and belly is very exaggerated and raw showing imperfection. The figure in the painting is holding folds of her skin which she is seemingly showing off. Following the success of her show at the Saatchi Gallery in 1994, this generated a great deal of publicity for her work. Saville moved to New York City for a period of time where she spent observing the work of Dr. Barry Martin Weintraub, a plastic surgeon based in the city. Saville gained a better understanding of the human body and the various manipulations that can be made which is also why many of her pieces present distorted flesh, blatant brush strokes, and oil– coloured blotches. She was allowed to sit through and watch a plastic surgeon this helped her get an understanding of how the human body worked, and was able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. Art : The Gallery Space One of the most important aspect of the art world is the gallery space, where they house and showcase the works of art itself. Space where there are works hung on the walls, sculptures on pedestals, and area where people can go in to observe and experience the works of art. There are tens and hundreds of gallery spaces in Toronto, and these galleries can generally be categorized in two separate groups : Institutional galleries, and commercial galleries. Art Gallery of Ontario, more popularly known as the AGO, and Diaz Contemporary Gallery greatly contrasts from each other although they are both gallery spaces with the purpose to show and exhibit artworks. While AGO serves as an institutional gallery with the goal to educate the public, Diaz contemporary works as a commercial gallery trying to market the works and their artists. The differences between their goals and aims can be seen in multiple elements such as the gallery space itself, the management, and their relationship with the public. The environment of these two galleries differ greatly. Let 's start with the simplest of them all, the location. AGO is located right in downtown core on the corner of Dundas street and McCaul avenue, walking distance from the major shopping centre, and it is right beside the art institute OCAD University (Ontario College of Art and Design University). AGO is located in area with higher human traffic and is easily noticed this can be related to their relationship with the public as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problem Definition Lancers current problem as a company is deciding whether they want to reposition themselves. They would essentially be repositioning their brand image in the market. Lancer currently have a well–respected and well regarded brand image and they do not focus on sourcing and selling replicas and in turn they have maintained this strong brand identity. Though this may not be reflected in their sales and by repositioning they would increase both sales and profit but the company would certainly decrease their image and their standards would undoubtedly have to lower with this decrease in brand identity. B. Decline the contract from the mass department store; Pros – If Lancer were to decline this offer from the mass department store the advantage lies in their brand and the image that they maintain in the market. If they were to accept all terms of the offer that pertain to the contract it means that the gallery would have to start sourcing and selling products that are not up to the usual standard that they are known for. So if the company decide to decline the contract they would remain at the top of the market in terms of quality and brand identity. Cons – The contract with the department store would increase annual revenue by $4m and from Lancer's current sales number this is a number that cannot be ignored. The company would continue with decreasing sales and profits if they do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gallery Of Art Analysis "...They do what is called is called glancing, which is the same word for bumping off something and carry on in almost the same direction."–Christopher John Francis Boone Surfacing this seasons current exhibit by Kristen Cochran and Josephine Durkin at H.F. Johnson Gallery of Art. Throughout this exhibit the viewer might "look" and "glance" not really paying to much mind to the pieces that surrounded them. Curator Christopher Willey said that we should use the word "experience" instead of "look" when referring to art pieces. Because, we are doing far more with our bodies than simply looking. This is an important lesson, because when you do "experience" and not just "look" the perspective is widened. The feeling of being sucked out of your comfort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ok maybe not that far apart, but that's the feeling the viewer gets when looking at their pieces. There's also different experiences from each that are widely different. For Cochran the viewer needs to think deeper and further than they're used too. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that it's somewhat unnerving. Why? You say could because the viewer is truly getting an understanding of the pieces. In that feelings are being brought out because of a piece, feelings that the viewer had no idea art could bring out. Now if we were to relate this to Durkin's' pieces they are "worlds apart". Overwhelming joy, is simply all the viewer can feel from her pieces. The viewer is caught off guard and can only smile no matter how much it hurts. These two artists make the viewer have practically two different experiences, ultimately depends on the viewer. • 73. The Art Gallery Of Museum Gallery When talking about the art gallery, the first scene occurred to my mind was the art gallery of museum. I went to some museums before to appreciate the artworks of different eras and cultures. Because I had lived in China for around twenty years, the most works I enjoyed were created by Chinese and they were filled with Chinese elements. And the majority of these artworks exist a long time and have diverse historical stories. Certainly, I had looked some contemporary arts, they delivered varieties of thoughts of the artists, reflecting their concerning about the current society, the life and death, even their unique opinion of the sex. So when we asked to do the gallery review, what I considered the gallery on this campus was that it would be more similar to a museum gallery which was constituted by lots of antique artwork. There would be many stories in the works, involving historical elements such as war and peace, also religious bible stories. Even I wondered that there would be prehistorical styles–the Bronze works or ceramic works–presented in the gallery. Filled with curiosity, I attended the gallery show. What surprised me was all of the artworks were created by the professors in the school rather than professional artists outside the school. And most of them produced in recent art styles, such as photography, sketching, collage and woven dresses and etc. As what I wondered, this gallery showed some bronze and ceramic works, even they seemed like a little rough in ... • 75. Personal Values Of Art Art History 3.6 Values such as personal, symbolic, religious and iconic can be shown in these three major artworks, Christian Boltanski's 2010's artwork 'Personnes', Damien Hirst's 2007's artwork 'For the Love of God' and Jeff Koons's 1994 – 2010's artwork 'Balloon Dog/Balloon Rabbit'. Christian Boltanski's "Personnes" reflects personal values as he believed that art raises many questions and fulfilling emotions but there's no answer to neither of them. He assumes that death is unpredictable, chance is watching every human life as they live on their life. His intention is to allow each viewer to observe these compiled clothes of "mass graves" and "honouring the dead". He created this artwork to reflect the personal values of each deceased personal experience and "commemorate the lives of others", to leave the human trace as they moved onto the afterlife. Personal values is reflected on each part of the artwork such as the compiled pile of clothes making up the whole artwork itself and form them as shrines of the deceased, creating a "personal effect" on the viewer as well as communicating with them. Personal values are also reflected on not just clothes but other people's belongings, as reminders that there was a time when they once wore them and show sympathy and connect with them on a deeper level, as Laura Cumming, art critic for The Observer states; "this was an art that spoke so clearly and simply that a child could understand it and so it is, to some extent, with ... It is this period that shaped the political and social structures in Italy. The renaissance art work symbolized a rebirth in the cultural practices both in the middle ages and in modern times. This piece of painting occurred in 1794 and was done by Mallord William Turner after he made two visits to Tintern Abbey a monastery founded in 1131 but neglected in 1536. He was overwhelmed by the site and painted a piece showing the smallness of man alongside the wilderness of nature. Lancer Gallery should concentrate more on collectors, who generally are the buyers of original artifacts, as artifacts stand unique and signifies a status in the society. On the other hand, Lancer Gallery can distinguish and educate the importance of original artifacts to its clients and continue producing the same number of replicas with the existing craftspeople in delivering the artifacts as good as the original and selling them at cheaper prices than the original.
