historians scrutinize his failures, MacArthur has not only preserved his reputation, but also maintained one. General Arthur MacArthur, Douglas' father,
famously told him, "there are times when a truly remarkable solider must resort to unorthodox behavior, disobeying his superiors to gain the greater

demonstrated the insubordination of his defiant nature which would later bring him up through the ranks and achieve fame. Weeks later MacArthur
would grab the attention again by defying the orders of a lieutenant, his math teacher. MacArthur fell ill often, missing tests. Usually, students will

occupation of Japan and led United Nations forces in the Korean War. Through great leadership and much controversy, MacArthur changed the course
of history for the U.S. and many other countries. He is considered one of the most important generals in the history of the U.S. because his way of

MacArthur was raised in a military household. His father being Captain MacArthur who fought in the Civil War. His mother, just like his father, was
extremely patriotic, making MacArthur salute to almost anything at a young age. She would tell him things such as "You must grow up to be a great

that he never rebelled as a child. MacArthur will end up going to the Texas Military Institute and West Point. He dealt with a lot of awful things at
school. His attitude was one of a soldier which not everyone appreciated. This attitude caused him to deal with tormentors who would make him
recite his father's Civil War record. Being able to live through all of this and sticking to it allows us to see the type of heart MacArthur had. He was
never going to give up on becoming a soldier in the U.S. Army. All of these early life experiences give us the man who we know today who is
responsible for many successes in U.S.
