ASSIGNMENT 1
Instruction:
This Assignment 1 will form 10% of the final assessment. This assessment is in a form of video
presentation.
In a group of maximum 5 members, students are required to find a related video on construction
process of the construction practiced in Malaysia.
Students need to choose (ONE) of the construction process from the following list:
1. Driven cast in-situ concrete piles
2. Bored cast in-situ concrete piles
3. Precast concrete piles
4. Timber piles
5. Pre-tensioned Spun Concrete (PSC)
6. Pile cap
7. Underpinning
8. Shoring
The presentation must include the explanation on the followings:
1. Name ONE project in Malaysia that has used the above component
2. Functions of the above component
3. Advantages & Disadvantages of the above component
4. Construction process of the above component
5. Problems occurred during the construction process
The submission of this Assignment 1 will be in video format which students are required to
submit a CD-ROM containing the video and their presentation. One CD-ROM per group should
be submitted.
