2. The Awareness Of Cognitive Enhancers
Awareness of Cognitive Enhancers The season is finally here, many college students are making
their way into the library and cramming information left and right for finals in hopes of not
failing. With scholarly grades, comes hours of study sessions and hard work which results in an
tremendous amount of stress put on an individual. As a result, many students resort to a
different route and illegally acquire cognitive enhancements drugs in hopes of balancing their
education and personal life. My first experience with these Smart Drugs was during finals week
in my senior year of highschool, I was given several adderall pills from a close scholar friend and
he briefly explained how these pills would aid me greatly during this stressful time. The first pill
I took, I felt a great euphoric feeling within minutes and I knew this wouldn t be the last time I
would take this. Education in today s society can be perceived as a competition between students
as employers are searching to recruit the top students out of college. Therefore, students will do
anything at any cause to be categorized as the top of their class. With all this in mind, it becomes
apparent that college students find the need to use cognitive enhancing drugs to gain an edge
among their education due to the superior benefits gained through the use of it. The use of
Cognitive enhancing drugs has been all around college campuses for many years. The only
difference from back then

4. Michelle Obama Hillary Clinton
Given the closing in 2016 presidential election, both candidates have been working hard to
convince the citizens of the United States that they are the optimal decision for President. Both,
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have been in constant turmoil in creating promotional
advertisements and speeches as to why they should be chosen to lead the country. Hillary Clinton,
a long time politician and Secretary of State, who received the unequivocal backing of the current
President of the United States and the First Lady. Subsequently, the First Lady gave a speech about
Hillary Clinton advocating her full support. First Lady Michelle Obamautilizes pathos and allusions
to persuade her audience that Secretary Hillary Clinton is the most logical... Show more content on

The First Lady implements allusion to accordingly compare Secretary Clinton to great leaders
from the past. She achieves this goal, by emphasizing that she wants a leader who truly believes
in the vision that our Founders put forth all those years ago. . . (Obama 22). Michelle Obamas
allusion to the Founding Fathers and their ideals help to establish a connection between Clinton
and the leaders that forged the nation. Including this comparison helps to guide the audience to
collate their knowledge of the Founding Fathers and apply it to Hillary Clinton. This citation
becomes particularly significant when the First Lady uses people that are so highly respected,
such as the Founding Fathers, to compare to Secretary Clinton. As a result, Michelle Obama is
able to successfully enhance the image of Hillary Clinton in the eyes of her audience.
Nevertheless, Michelle Obama also uses allusions to downgrade the image of Clintons
opponent, Donald Trump. The First lady explains how we should never . . .let anyone ever tell
you that this country isn t great, that somehow we need to make it great again (Obama 29).
Michelle Obama ameliorates Clintons image, by alluding to a negative persona of her rival. The
First Lady utilizes Donald Trump s campaign slogan to institute that America is already great
within itself, and the nation does not need Trump to make it great again . This tactic supports
Michelle Obamas claim by altering the audiences view point of Donald Trump and his slogan.
The audience will now perceive Trump as someone who does not believe that America is or could
be great , without him. Therefore, the First Lady accurately alludes to Clintons rival in a
demeaning manner to boost Clintons own image. Michelle Obamas use of allusion aids in
modifying the persona of both candidates to

5. The Dropping Of The Atomic Bomb
The dropping of the atomic bomb was the first of many nuclear projects. The first project was
called the Manhattan project. Three bombs were created, one was a test, and the two others
were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, cities in Japan. These bombs created mass destruction
for the two cities; buildings were obliterated, fires erupted, and radiation spread for miles. After
foreign countries saw what the United States was capable of, countries all around the world
started to develop their own nuclear weapons, creating a surplus of weapons of mass destruction.
Today, eight countries in the world have nuclear arsenals (weapon supplies). The United States
and Russia (formerly part of the Soviet Union) have most of the world s nuclear weapons. Other
countries with nuclear arms include China, France, India, Israel, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom
(Kroenig). Following World War Two, the Soviet Union and the United States were leaders of
nuclear weapons. This period was called the Cold War. Forty five years of potential nuclear
destruction loomed over the Soviets and Americans. It wasn t until after the Cold War that
diplomats created the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. The Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty, or
NPT for short, recognizes the United States, Russia, China, France, and the United Kingdom as
nuclear weaponstates. Nearly every country in the world is a member of the treaty, even if they do
not possess nuclear weapons, by law they state that they are a nonnuclear

6. Symptoms And Treatment Of A Thyroid Nodule Essay
Introduction
A thyroid nodule is a discrete lesion within the thyroid gland that is distinguishable from the
adjacent parenchyma. Sonographic examination of enlarged nodular thyroids, demonstrated that
66% had multiple nodules, whereas 34% had single nodules. Among these single nodules, 85% 90%
were proved to be benign. Adenomatous nodules represent most of benign thyroid nodules (80%),
whereas the remaining benign nodules consisted of adenoma, cyst, and focal thyroiditis (1).
The differentiation of single benign nodule and malignant one is considered an important goal.
Early diagnosis of thyroid cancer avoids unneeded surgery in those complaining of benign nodules
and decreases both mortality and morbidity rates of the disease (2). Although both fine needle
aspiration cytology (FNAC) and ultrasound are considered to be the most important tools in thyroid
nodules evaluation, uncertain diagnosis of the nodule even by experienced hands still remains a
problem and sometimes surgery has to be done for precise diagnosis. The percentage of
indeterminate nodules might be small, however a significant number of patients performed surgery
for benign disease (3); thus there is a need for a new noninvasive presurgical diagnostic test to avoid
unnecessary surgery (4). Routine T1 and T2 weighted MR imaging cannot differentiate benign
from malignant nodules or assess the functional status of thyroid nodules, thus its role in thyroid
nodules evaluation is limited (5).

8. Rape as a War Tactic in the Rwandan Genocide
The sweetly sickening odor of decomposing bodies hung over many parts of Rwanda in July
1994: . . . at Nyarubuye in eastern Rwanda, where the cadaver of a little girl, otherwise intact, had
been flattened by passing vehicles to the thinness of cardboard in front of the church steps,
(Deforges 6). The normalcy of horrible images like this one had cast a depressing gloom over
Rwandaduring the genocide, a time when an extreme divide caused mass killings of Tutsiby the
Hutu. Many tactics such as physical assault or hate propaganda are well known and often used
during times of war. Sexual assault and rape, however, during times of war is an unspoken secret it

After she was seized, she had been raped multiple times not only because of her beauty, but also
because she had been sleeping with Tutsis which therefore meant that she could sleep with the
Hutu as well (Mullins 726). The woman had been raped in front of four Interhamwe soldiers as
well as a large group of refugees. In the chaos after of the rape by Musema, the woman was
ordered to turn over from her stomach to her back and raped by multiple soldiers in turns. Her
breast was cut off by one of the soldiers, which they tried to make her child eat (Mullins 726 727).
The violence and chaos allowed for the pre existing animosities to turn into the crime of rape. The
act, though isolated, was obviously meant directed towards the entire Tutsi population as a whole.
Alfred Musema was a man who often engaged in these opportunistic rapes, which were single
episode events (Mullins 726).
During the Rwandan genocide, some rapes occurred recurrently throughout a timespan. Sexual
enslavements occurred when a woman was detained, typically in the house of an Interhamwe, and
subjected to repeated sexual assaults over a period of days, (Mullins 727). These kinds of rapes
belong in their own category because of the added element of confinement and intent to continually

10. Comparing Ovid s The Myth Of Daedalus And Icarus
The myth of Daedalus and Icarus has been approached by many different artists with many
differing depictions of the event. Some artists such as Ovid, chose to focus on Daedalus and Icarus
and leave everyone else out. Other artists, for instance, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and W. H. Auden,
have much more panoramic views of the situation and include others in their works. Different
approaches can leave the readers with different understandings of this ancient myth.
In Ovid s The Myth of Daedalus and Icarus, the author uses a third person point of view to closely
follow Daedalus and Icarus. From this, readers are more tightly attached to the characters and
know more about them. Readers of this story witness the inventing and engineering of the wings
by Daedalus and know the conflicting desires of Daedalus to escape from prison and to protect
his son. One thing that is emphasized in this story is the overwhelming sorrow of Daedalus, both
before due to fear of Icarus falling, and after due to the loss of his son. Ovid includes ... Show more

little mention in this poem. The underlying theme of this poem is that suffering is surrounded by
the busyness of everyday life. Even this poem is a perfect example of the overshadowing of
suffering by other things, itself overshadowing the tragic demise of Icarus with other mundane
events. This also places Icarus story in the hands of an outsider, leading readers to become less

Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Pregnancy Aerobic exercise is another fantastic type of physical
activity for pregnant women. It is a great alternative for mothers who are apprehensive about
resistance training. Aerobic exercise guidelines for mostly sedentary pregnant women state that
they should perform at about 60% 70% of their heart rate maximum, and guidelines for active
pregnant women suggest they perform at about 60% 90% of their heart rate maximum (11). The
United States guidelines supports exercise throughout the full nine months of pregnancyas a positive
decision for expecting mothers (2).
Just a handful of gains made while aerobically exercising during pregnancy include maintaining
weight, less complications with delivery, a shorter labor, a decrease in stress, less back pain, a
decrease in arterial stiffness, improved posture, increased self confidence, improved insulin
sensitivity and glycogen storing, better sleep, a decreased risk of preeclampsia, decreased pelvic
girdle pain, and an increased quality of life (6, 9, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 23). It is also important
to acknowledge that mothers who exercised 3 months before they became pregnant experienced
even more advantages with a significant decrease in pregnancy discomforts (9). In two separate
studies made up of 43 and 37 pregnant women, mothers participated in a moderate aerobic exercise
program. In the first study mothers were trained with general exercise machines, and in the second
mothers performed

12. The Death Of A Man s Obedience
Obedience You have to make choices whether to follow the rules of not. To be obedient means to
comply with an order, request, or submission to another s authority. This authority has the power
to make an individual obey in ways that go against their personal and moral values. Because of
this the authority can make individuals commit terrible acts without question. An example of this
can be the abhorrent and inhumane acts carried out by German soldiers in WWII. All the German
troops orders were from one single individual, Adolf Hitler. Why is it that man is so prone to obey
and why is it hard for him to contravene? The reason for man s obedience is a mixture of social
influences, authorityfigures, and their own self conscience. A person s obedience can be derived
from social pressure and group minds. Most all people live their lives in groups such as with
family, work groups, school peers, political groups, etc. Also most people want to belong to a
group and can t stand being unaccompanied. We are group animals and tend to think as the group
thinks which makes it hard for an individual to maintain their own opinions. According to
Lessing, People who have experienced a lot of groups, who have observed their own behavior,
may agree that the hardest thing in the world is to stand out against one s group, a group of one s
peers. Many agree that among our most shameful memories is this, how often we said black was

revolves around the Grinch and his despise for Christmas. He lives just outside of Whoville where
all the Whos live. The Grinch represents the lower class for the main reason is that he struggles
financially. The line, Every Who Down in Whoville Liked Christmas a lot... But the Grinch, Who
lived just north of Whoville, Did NOT! (Seuss 1 6) demonstrates that the Grinch is of a lower

Throughout the poem the Grinch associates Christmas with materials like, Checkerboards!

happiness, so if he cannot afford to buy the materialistic things he won t be happy and can t be
part of the financially higher class like the Whos. The Grinch s despise towards the Whos makes
him to want to take away all their happiness by stealing the children s toys. He wants the Whos to
feel the same despair and sadness he feels. When it states, Then he slithered and slunk, with a smile
most unpleasant, Around the whole room, and he took every present (Seuss 83) it is evident that

14. Motor Vehicle Safety Essay
Problem Statement:
Motor vehicle accidents are one of the leading causes of death in the United States, and are the
leading cause of death in children aged 13 and under [1]. In 2015, 220 per one million children
under the age of 4 were involved in fatal motor vehicle accidents [1]. In addition to motor vehicle
accidents, improper uses of Child Restraint Systems (CRS) in cars are known to cause an
increased risk of injury. Targeting the specific aspect of children being incorrectly fastened to their
car seats could possibly prevent injuries and/or deaths due to motor vehicle accidents. These deaths
are a topic of concern due to that fact that children need more protection in vehicles than adults do.
According to PennDOT, children under age four must be securely fastened in a federally
approved child passenger restraint system (CRS) [2]. However, there are multiple studies and
statistics that show that many families do not know how to correctly use a child car seat. A
Canadian study, which observed more than 13,000 children, noted that approximately only 90%
were using car seats. Of these, only 60% were using the correct type of car seat, with only 20% of
those aged four to eight years old using booster seats [3]. A Manitoba study found that

15. Soccer Concussions
Although soccer is one of the leading sports to cause concussions, I believe that soccer players
should be able to head the ball at all ages because it takes away from the fundamentals of the
game, and it causes the game to feel unnatural to the players while it also causes players to
overthink. On February 16, 2016, the United States Soccer Federation declared that no one under
the age of 13 was allowed to headthe ball because of the staggering concussion numbers that soccer
had brought in. A concussion is any trauma or blow to the head, and some symptoms of a
concussion is headache, unconsciousness, nausea, and dizziness. This new rule has made drastic
changes to the gamethat we used to think was soccer. Not enabling heading for soccer players
clearly defies the fundamentals of the game because players will, or would, often use their head
to propel the ball forward to move away from their defender, but now with the new heading rule,
players are not allowed anymore to use their head until they are at least 13. This new rule will
forever change the way that soccer will develop all around the United States because players
will not be able to use a very useful part of their body until they are a teenager. As stated by Sahar
Milani of the American Youth Soccer Organization(AYSO), The new policy includes that an
indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or younger, deliberately
touches the ball with his/her head during a game . This

tasked with what he referred to as the year of decisions, in which he analyzed the war and

Truman s domestic and foreign policies were created to successfully transition the United States
into a post war or peace time economy while avoiding a nationwide economic depression.
Truman was successful in his goal to transition the nation s economy, but only a select few of his
policies were passed by congress, such as Truman s 21 point program, Fair Deal and Brannan

18. Human Papolloma Viruse Type 16 and Type 18
Human Papilloma Virus Type 16 and Type 18 Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a double stranded
DNA virus. There are many genotypes HPV and some of them are oncogenic. They have envelope
proteins E6 and E7 on their cell wall which are associated to initiate cancer. Anogenital lesions
associated to HPV are divided into low risk types (6, 11, 34, 40, 42, and 43) and high risk types
(16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 68, 69, 73, and 82). Most of the low risk HPV
infections are asymptomatic and are not fatal, however infection to high risk HPV such as type
16 and 18 may cause cervical, anal, vaginal, vulvar and penile cancer (Centre of Disease Control,
2012). Low risk HPV generally cause warts on the skin surface which rarely develop into
malignancy. Type 16 and 18 both were originally isolated from cervical carcinomas of human body.
More than 70% of human cervical is due to the infection of either HPV 16 or 18. According to
CDC, in 2008 it was estimated 11,070 cases of cervical cancer in United States and about 3,870
deaths due to cervical cancer. Higher percentage of HPV persistent infection occurs by HPV 16 and
the risk of getting cervical cancer due the progression of disease is higher for HPV 16 and 18 and

20. Casino Legislation Impacts The Local And State Economy
Casino legislation impacts the local and state economy. How it affects the economy fluctuates
depending on surrounding circumstances. These circumstances include location and who owns the
casino. A local casino will result in changes in Government revenue, public services, and
surrounding businesses. Casinos bring a local economy a new tax source and new jobs but it is
crucial to look further to see if casinos boost the local economy. In one article the writers statethe
benefits of the new casinoincluding new jobs and investment. Felsentein, Littlepage, Klacik (2000)
then explain that many casino jobs however require some specific training. This means many
employees commute to work. Also some of local casino employees leave previous jobs in
community to come work in the casino. The casino is not creating for the local economy if
workers are commuting or leaving old jobs (Felsentein, Littlepage, Klacik, 2000)
Where a casino is located is critical to how it affects the economy. A typical local casino does not
bring money to the area like Las Vegas or Atlantic City does. This is because most gamblers in
these two areas are tourist. Tourists bring money to an economy. In many local casinos the
gamblers live in the same city as the casino. When this is the case, gamblers are not bringing
money to the economy; they are transferring money that was already in the local economy. In an

21. Difference Between Absolute and Comparative Advatage
The theory of comparative advantage is perhaps one of the most important concepts in international
trade theory.
A country has an absolute advantage in the production of a good relative to another country if it
can produce the good at lower cost or with higher productivity. Absolute advantage compares
industry productivities across countries. In the case of Zambia, for instance, the country has an
absolute advantage over many countries in the production of copper. This occurs because of the
existence of reserves of copper ore or bauxite. We can see that in terms of the production of goods,
there are obvious gains from specialisation and trade, if Zambia produces copper and exports it to
those countries that specialise in the production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Country B has an absolute disadvantage. Due to abundance of raw materials or more productively
efficient production techniques, Country A is able to produce more wheat and more maize that
Country B. Perhaps common sense tells us that Country A should produce both goods and export
surpluses and Country B neither. However, when comparative advantageis considered a different
story emerges.
Consider the opportunity cost of Country A producing one more unit of maize. Half a unit of wheat
has been foregone. When country B produces one more unit of maize two units of wheat are
foregone. Economics is concerned with the allocation of scarce resources. Fewer resources are
foregone if Country A concentrates its resources in the production of maize.
Now consider the opportunity cost of Country B producing one more unit of wheat. Two units of
maize have been foregone. When Country B produces one more unit of wheat only half a unit of
maize is foregone. Fewer resources are foregone if Country B specialises in the production of
wheat. In the above case Country A should produce maize and Country B wheat. The surpluses
produce should then be traded.
We can see that the principle of comparative advantage is clearly counter intuitive. Many results
from the formal model are contrary to simple logic; in the other hand the logic behind absolute
advantage is quite intuitive.

22. What Was The Influence Of The Baroque Period
The Baroque Period, much like the barocco pearl that it was named after, did not just spring up out
of nowhere. It was cultivated through time by different factors that developed the beautifully
dramatic, grandiose and theatrical style we know today. To start off, the sector of religion must be
of the most, if not the most, significant influence that helped the growth of the period. This is said
because of the effects that had been brought about the Council of Trent in 1545, taking place after
the Reformation. It was an ecumenical council of clergymen, mostly bishops, of the Roman
Catholic Church which aimed to combat the heresies made by the Protestants via reforms within
the Church in addition to the revision and strengthening of their canon.... Show more content on

Renowned sculptor, painter and architect, Gian Lorenzo Bernini translated the Baroque
philosophies into his many works. In his masterpieces, specifically his sculptures, he believed in
showing passion, decadence, movement, drama and contrasting forms and shadows different
from the static and conventional styles of previous periods, like the Renaissance style. Bernini s
earlier works Apollo and Daphne and Rape of Persephone commissioned by Cardinal Scipione
Borghese between 1621 and 1625 are great examples of the Baroque style of sculpture. They
showed dramatic emotion and movement along with differing forms and stories through the
interplay of light and shadow. These works impacted society by showing a different and radical
change in the forms found in sculptures, setting up the style for future Baroque sculptors.
Spectators are also encouraged to move , in a sense, to view the sculpture in all angles to establish
a full grasp and understanding of all its parts, shapes and shadows providing a change from
conventional static and straightforward sculptures of past

23. Why People Commit Crime Is Not An Easy Task
Introduction
Explaining why people commit crime is not an easy task. Criminologists have attempted to travel
down the paths of the reasoning for criminal behavior and the factors that flow with them.
Criminologists have developed many theories or perspectives of crime. The perspectives recognize
the cause of crime by the related qualifies of criminals and populations with high crime rates. Two
perspectives of crime stood out from the wide variety, biological and psychological. In some cases
biological and psychological explanations of crime run hand in hand, however the two perspectives
focus on very different products of criminal behavior.
BIOLOGICAL VIEW
In explaining criminal behavior factors reveal that a person s physical or biological
characteristics are the results of criminal behavior. Biological factors play a significant role in
determining the reasons people commit crime. It is believed that people go against the social
norms because of that person s biological make up (Boundless, 2014). Biological perspectives
note that a person s appearances and properties can be linked to illegal acts. Lombroso believed
that people with certain appearances such as drooping eyes or large ears were found to be
criminals (Boundless, 2014). Hereditary and genetic factors are said to also be a product of
criminal behavior. A child can grow up and have the tendencies of a criminal because he/she has
inherited those traits from a criminal parent. In today s society, biochemical

24. Doubt John Patrick Shanley Essay
Besides earning a Pulitzer Prize, John Patrick Shanley achieved another unique feat with his play,
Doubt he expertly crafted a story whose conclusion ultimately lies within the mind and
imagination of the reader. Doubt is a play confined within the walls of a Catholic school during
the 1960s. It presents a tense clash between Father Flynn, a gregarious priest at the school who
advocates progressive ideas and empathy for transgression; and Sister Aloysius, the draconian,
stalwartly traditional principal who steadily becomes more and more certain that Flynn has been
sexually abusing a student. The story is artfully hewn, ending in a type of purgatory between
doubt and certainty that leaves the reader to untangle the web woven by Shanley. Thus, two
readers may read the same words formed into the same sentences, but reach polar conclusions
regarding the guilt of Father Flynn. Make no mistake; this phenomenon is intentional and will
explain a possible motivation behind the play s title: Doubt: A Parable. In the play s preface,
Shanley writes: Doubt requires more courage than conviction does, and more energy; because
conviction is a resting place and doubt is infinite it is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shanley has explicitly echoed this sentiment, stating, [p]eople who are utterly certain are
vulnerable to a brand of foolishness that people who maintain a level of doubt are not. But, if we
are to believe this theory that true and absolute certainty is more oft than not an unattainable ideal
then is it just to entrust the conviction and life of another human to the certainties of a jury? While
Shanley s Doubt is not an express plea for a reformation of the judicial system and jury trials, it
does bring to the forefront prominent complications that can arise due to the inescapable fallibility

25. Effective Leaders Produce Successful Results
Leadership is found in a variety of aspects of life, work, and sports. Few will argue that effective
leaders produce successful results. Many more will agree that successful leadership is not always
determined by the financial bottom line in business or by win percentage in sports. Leadership in
both business and in coaching requires and often exudes a common set of skills, goals, desires, and
strategies that are common in both arenas. Leaders in all walks of life, to include commercial real
estate and collegiate administration, find common ground when tasked with inspiring subordinates
and helping them to realize their potential in an effort to obtain optimum results. Formally, Merriam
Webster (2014) defines leadershipas, the power or ability to lead other people (para. 1). Truly,
leadership requires ability; the ability to motivate, instruct, and guide subordinates is
paramount. Those who have the charisma to be leaders but lack the expertise to direct
subordinates and show how the work is done, on whatever level, will not be able to properly
facilitate change. Moreover, the lack of effective leadership or the implementation of ineffective
false leadership may cause more harm than good within a business setting or team. Leadership in
sport is referred to often but can never be overstated. Having the ability to teach and to motivate
is necessary either when leading as a coach or as a player. Leaders take responsibility for what is
taught and rely on personal

Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830, and died on May 15, 1886. During these 55
years, she wrote nearly 1,800 poems. Very few of these poems were published during her life,
most of them only being discovered by her sister after Dickinson s death (Crash Course). Nearly
all of her poems are highly complex, either having allegorical qualities or contradicting themselves.
In fact, Dickinson s poetrywas so contradictory that she has been regarded as the poet of paradox .
Growing up, the poet claimed to be haunted by the menace of death(Crash Course) and therefore
wrote many poems about death, immortality, and time. She also wrote a lot about religion, often

Dickinson was obsessed with the concept of death. While this probably was a consequence of
her poor mental health, it allowed her to imagine death in many different ways. For example in
her arguably most famous poem Because I could not stop for Death she sees Death as a suitor,
taking her away as his bride. Another notable example is in I heard a Fly buzz when I died :
There interposed a Fly with Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz (Dickinson). In this poem there are
two interpretations of who this fly could represent: God or Death. No matter who the fly
represents, however, they still serve the same purpose: to guide the narrator into a peaceful death.
Another common theme in Dickinson s poems regarding death is the value of sight. To
Dickinson, sight often is an allegory for observation or life. For example, in I heard a Fly buzz
when I died the last stanza discusses the narrator looses sight. Between the light and me And then
the Windows failed and then I could not see to see (Dickinson). In this stanza, the narrator discusses
how the fly gets between them and their line of sight. At the very end, there is a dash and nothing

Harry Rosen thrives in presenting its customers with a visual image that they can be confident in

automatically sparks different ideas in their mind in terms of how they want to be dressed.
However, the problem with the mannequins at Harry Rosen is that it is not changed on regular
basis and is changed close to every 2 months. That is a problem because customers want new ideas;
they want to be shown a new outfit that they might have never thought of, different colors, different

that there is no new merchandise in the store, thus making it difficult for the associates in selling

combinations of two, 1 and 2, 1 and 3, 1 and 4, and so on. The weight combination was written

83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 90, and 91. You need to find out which two bales go with which weight and
how much bales 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 weigh. Are there more than 1 possibility. Process: my group first
did guess and check to try and solve the problem. First we thought that the bales had to be 40 50
because if you had 70+70 it would be out of the range of 80 90 by a lot. Our first guess was that
bale 1=42, 2=43, 3=44, 4=40, and bale 5=45. That didn t work so then we tried doing bale 1=42,
2=43, 3=41, 4=47, and bale 5=44. That also didn t work so then we thought. I thought that maybe
we had to give bales 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4, and 4 and 5 one of the weights and see if it works.
We gave 1 and 2 85, 2 and 3 84, 3 and 4 88, and 4 and 5 91. It worked but when we tried to add 1
and 3, 2 and 5, and 1 and 4 it just fell apart. So that theory did not work. The whole class was

Conspiracy of the Millenium: The Da Vinci Code Dan Brown s famous novel, The Da Vinci

makes this novel so controversial is that Brown tells a story about a museum curator with a secret
pact, a historian, a cryptologist and how the church has kept the truth about Mary Magdalene and
Jesus. Brown s claims about the existence of a secret society called the Priori of Sions whose
members include Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo and even Da Vinci himself and their
possession of the Holy Grail, an arrangement of documents that reveals the real relationship
between Jesus and Mary Magdalene and the existence of a daughter between the two of them.

35. Biological Differences Between Men And Women Essay
Sex is defined as the average, reliable, biological differences between males and females (Auleb
1). One biological difference between males and females is in external genitalia: males have
penises whereas females have vaginas. Sexuality refers to one s sexual orientation, sexual
behaviors, and capacity for sexual feelings (YourDictionary.com). Someone who is not sexually
attracted to anyone may identify themselves as asexual. And sexual identity is one s conception of
themselves in terms of to whom they are sexually and romantically attracted, if they experience
sexual or romantic attraction at all (Wikipedia.org). Someone who is attracted to people regardless
of gendermay identify as bisexual, or as pansexual if they do not adhere to the belief that there
are only two genders. One s sexual behaviors and attitudes towards sex and sexuality may be
governed by their values, of which there are two types. Formal values are what one says they
believe; informal values are what one actually does (Auleb 3). If someone says that people
should wait until marriage to have sex, that is their formal values. If they abstain from sex until
marriage, that is their informal value. Ideally, one s formal values and informal values are in sync,
for if they are not, one may find themselves in a situation in which they are unready or unwilling to
participate. One s values do not form in a vacuum and are shaped by their society and culture.

The topic I examined in the collective activity was the Dawn of American Imperialism. The
dawn of American imperialism was a time of expansion and also a time of war and racism.
During this time America was increasing its power by gaining control over other areas of the

Americans thought Filipinos could not govern themselves and were uneducated. Also America

The Debate Over School Uniforms
Context
In some countries, e.g. Britain and many Caribbean states, it is common for school pupils to have
to wear distinctive uniforms identifying them with a particular institution, especially to the end of
compulsory education at 16. In others, e.g. France, the USA, it is rare for uniforms to be worn,
although some private schools may retain them. In both situations the desirability of school
uniforms remains controversial among students, parents and educationalists. As a result of this
some schools have abandoned uniform at the same time as others have adopted it.

Pupils without expensive designer clothes and trainers may be singled out as social outcasts, or
stigmatised as being from poor backgrounds. For these reasons many parents prefer uniforms as
they save them money on buying clothes for school wear
cons Students always find ways to tease or bully others, regardless of what clothes are worn.
Those who wish to be particularly fashionable will want to own the same number of outfits
regardless of whether they are allowed to wear them to school or not, changing into them the
minute that classes are over. Parents often find some uniform items, e.g. jackets, very expensive
compared to the rest of their child s wardrobe, and complain they can never be worn outside the
school environment.
pros
Uniform has practical benefits when students are outside the school building. Being readily
identified with a particular institution may make students more aware of their behaviour while
travelling to and from the school, leading them to act more considerately, e.g. to other passengers
on buses or trains. On organised trips away from the school it is much easier for teachers to ensure
they haven t lost anyone and to monitor behaviour, than if students wore their own clothes and
blended in with the crowds.

If you are interested in purchasing a pet that is a bit different from the norm, but you are a lover

as a desert fox, is a small canine that typically weighs only 2 to 3.5 pounds as an adult. Although

Getting to Know the Fennec Fox
As a member of the canine family, the fennec fox acts much like domesticated dogs that are kept
as pets. At the same time, it is important to remember that this type of canine has not been truly
domesticated. Therefore, you will need to take special steps to socialize your fennec fox as well as

For example, the diet of a fennec fox is a bit different from the typical pet dog. In the wild, these
creatures prefer a diet that consists of rodents, insects, fruit, plants and reptiles. Therefore, the

animals. Many owners, however, choose to feed their foxes a mixture of dog food, cat food, fruit
and vegetables while others prefer to feed a mix of raw meat, vegetables and vitamins.
Like a cat, it is possible to litter train a fennec fox, though some people seem to find the process
to be easier than others. Therefore, whether or not you attempt to litter train your fox or to simply
take it outside to use the bathroom is a personal decision for you to make. Either way, you need to
be certain to give your fox plenty of opportunities for running around outdoors, as they are very
active animals that need an outlet for all of their excess

something different to all of us. To me, dedication is more general. It is chasing a dream or goal
relentlessly yet selflessly. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Dedication emerged in
me when I first started school and competing in athletics, and it has led me to every major
achievement. Twelve years after dedication started to model me into who I am today, I realized
it was shaping my life when I became a National Merit Scholar and placed eighth at state

development of dedication. It s clear what made me become so dedicated. The question to ask
myself is why these experiences instilled dedication in me. The first place to look is wrestling. It s
a sport that can build or destroy character. Wrestling builds confidence. This confidence can grow or
shrink depending on the outcome of competition. Some people become overconfident and others

What was the cause of the potato famine. Well Ireland was hit by an airborne fungus that turned the
potatoes to mud before they got out of the ground and rotted them quicker. Potatoes were the main
food in Ireland especially for the poor. Without potatoes many died while others immigrated. The
potato faminecaused a lot of death, immigration, and also got help from surrounding areas. Many
people immigrated , some just sooner than others. Between 1845 and 1870 there were at least three
million Irish immigrants (Famine,Irish. The Oxford Company). This shows how devastating and
terrible the famine was to drive three million people out of their own country. Landlords would first
make phony promises of money, food and clothing, then pack

43. Analysis Of Primer Sets
Results
Results of the first PCR reaction and gel electrophoresis with all primer sets can be seen in
image 2. The first well contained the molecular weight marker, well 2; primer set 1, well 3;
primer set 2, well 4; primer set 3, well 5; primer set 4 and well 6; primer set 5. The primer bands
can be seen to have run to the end of the gel in wells 2 through 6, however no cDNA band were
visible, only the weight maker bands were seen in the first well. The process was redone with a
lower annealing temperature in the PCR stage with the aim to increase binding of the primers to
the cDNA. Only primer set 2 was used, and again only marker bands in well 1 and primer bands
at the end of well 2 were visible, which does not give any conclusive results, that can be seen in
Image 2. Still determined, a third PCR reaction was performed with marker in well 1 and primer
set 2 in wells 2 through 6, but with a PCR cycling conditions and temperature gradient. But, alas
Image 3 revealed no useful data. As the GFP geneproduct was absent in al performed tests.
Validation of extracted Zoanthid cDNA cannot proceed.
Despite this drawback the investigation was continued with the bioinformatics analyses of
previously published sequence found on NBCI database. This is hoped to at minimum provide
conformation to other studies and to also act as a starting point for further investigations. The
evolutionary analysis used the program MEGA7 with maximum likelihood method with 1000

44. Comparing News Networks In ABC, CNN, CBS, And Fox
The public get their news from networks such as ABC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.
One of the differences between all these networks is all of the networks get fairly amount of
viewers from which many of the most popular in the country like to go from right or left. CNN,
ABC, CBS, and NBC have audiences that lean left while the audience on fox lean toward
conservative. Another one is the if these networks are being truthful or if what their telling the
audience is fake. A poll by Rasmussen declared that CNN is the least trusted news network on
cable television (Tapson 1). The poll also showed that Fox news was trusted at fifty percent and
MSNBC was trusted by forty three percent (Tapson 1). One network will telling a viewer how a
certain person may have done something bad while another network will the do the same but later
show evidence that the information was false. The amount of information or evidence provided by
these networks can make the viewer lean to a certain network and if the information is logical and

information. These networks all have a source where the information is coming from and may

46. How Does The Digestive System Working Together To Ensure...
The human body is a fascinating organism with a multiplicity of complex systems working
together to ensure the health of the individual. Join us as we take a Fantastic Voyage through our
healthy, 55 year old male subject to witness how nutrients are ingested and passed through the
body. During this journey, we will pass through the digestive, circulatory, and digestive systems
to better understand how the body receives nutrients, how they are broken down, and finally,
how they are expelled from the body. Our journey will begin as we enter our male subject s body
through his food, in this case, a sumptuous hamburger, crispy french fries, and a mug of frothy
root beer. We will begin our journey through the human body by entering the test subject through
the digestive system, which begins with the mouth. As we are quickly inhaled by our ravenous
subject, notice how mastication enables food to be broken down by saliva and the simultaneous
mashing and gnawing of teeth. Moving from the front center of the subject s mouth to the back,
you will notice the various types of teeth that include: two sets of incisors, a set of canines, a set
of premolars, and a set of first and second molars (Thibodeau, 1992). During mastication, a clear
substance known as salivary amylase is secreted to facilitate chewing and begin the digestive
process. This fluid will facilitate our journey down to the esophagus and into the stomach. Located

47. Justice System In Robert Louis Stevenson s Just Mercy
In the first half of Stevenson s Just Mercy, he depicts this almost binary system within his
experiences in the justice system: a majority class and a vulnerable class, with a few outliers in
between. The majority class operates for those in power and actively against the vulnerable. By
attacking the vulnerable, it performs as almost a fuel for those within the system who have
ambition to ascend its ranks. For example, by Alabama using elections to select its judges (70), this
allows the system to uphold the desires and opinions of those in the majority, without any checks
and balances on the equity of the system and its integrity to the law. The system, in a sense,
becomes an arm of the majority, not an institution grounded in equitable justice

By the year 2050 plastic bottles will outnumber fish in the ocean. Last year a study by the National
Academy of Sciences showed that there are over five trillion pieces of plastic currently littering the
ocean. Many people believe that throwing away plastic would have negligible impact on humans
and animals, this is untrue. Thousands of birds, turtle, seals, fish, and other marine animals die
every after entangling themselves in or consuming the tons of plastic currently in the ocean. Plastic
is such a durable material that according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency,
every single bit of plastic ever made still exists. The ocean has turned into our own personal

49. Moral Relativism and Normative Ethics
Moral Relativism and Normative Ethics
Normative ethics encompasses the study of moral standards that regulate right and wrong conduct.
British philosopher W.D. Ross emphasizes prima facie duties. Ross argues that our duties are part
of the fundamental nature of the universe. Ross claims his list of duties reflects our actual moral
convictions. They are 1) fidelity the duty to keep our promises, 2) reparation the duty to
compensate others when we harm them, 3) gratitude the duty to thank those who help us, 4) justice
the duty to recognize merit, 5) beneficence the duty to improve the conditions of others, 6) self
improvement the duty to improve our virtue and intelligence, and 7) non malfeasance the duty not
to injure others (Skelton, 2010).
I believe this means we have a moral obligation to do no further harm to others while we better
ourselves. The problem is that in today s society a pervasive sense of moral relativism seems to
prevail. This is the belief that most often is associated with an empirical thesis that there are deep
and widespread moral disagreements and a meta ethical thesis that the truth or justification of
moral judgments is not absolute, but relative to some group of persons (Gowans, 2012). This
belief in moral diversity leads to the conclusion that there are no absolutes and therefore personal
conduct is subjective. In other words do not judge me and I will not judge you, all moral values
are not equal or relatively valid or anything of

50. Social Media Addiction And Internet Addiction
Relationship between Social Media Addiction and Internet Privacy: Informal community clients can
share diverse bits of individual data with others; in any case, these subtle elements might be abused
by companions. Net and Acuity s review (2005) of Facebook clients protection concerns found that
91 percent of clients uploaded their photos, 88 percent shared their date of birth, 40 percent
demonstrated their telephone number, and 51 percent composed their present address. Sharing
individual data, for example, this can lead to abuse of information, regardless of whether purposeful
or not. For instance, a few people share profile subtle elements such as their full name, sexual
orientation and telephone number with their companions (Wills Zeljkovic., 2011). On the off
chance that the informal community account of one of the client s companions is hacked, the
spammer or the programmer can abuse these points of interest to blackmail the client (Rosenblum
2007). The capacity to control protection alternatives is basic to expanding the clients trust in their
interpersonal organization suppliers. Since Internetclients speak to a scope of various societies and
ages, protection alternatives ought to be clear, basic and simple to utilize. Clients must be able to
control their protection choices whenever. These protection alternatives enable clients to
acknowledge or dismiss the scattering of their data to others. For instance, a few clients would

52. Disadvantages Of Phonology
INTRODUCTION
In India the current scenario is changing very fast, it is absolutely critical that every child has the
fullest opportunities to become an accomplished reader. It is important that every member of
society should able to read and write. Without these skills, a person will have to face enormous
social, personal, and economic limitations in today s complex and information flooded world. In the
current situation, demands for accurate reading writing skills are greater now than at any previous
time in history.
Phonology, broadly speaking, is that sub discipline within linguistics concerned with the sounds of
language . More narrowly , phonology proper is concerned with the function, behaviour and
organisation of sounds as linguistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of reading development has different levels of phonological awareness within
words: syllables, onsets and rimes, and sounds. Good readers look for familiar letter patterns as
one strategy when attempting to decode or spell unfamiliar words they use familiar sound chunks
from known words, not just individual sounds (Bradley, Bryant, 1983; Lenel Cantor, 1981).
Thomas Gunning 1974 reported that students look for pronounceable word parts .This chunking
/ grouping of sounds makes the reading and writing process much more effective and efficient.
This letter pattern learning is based on familiar syllable or rhyme patterns as well as sound
clusters and individual sounds. This ability helps child to find out inside words for syllables,
rhymes, and individual sounds. Child has to segment, blend, and manipulate syllables, onset and
rime, and sounds of a particular word; this ability makes the child successful in using letter sound
knowledge effectively for reading and writing (Bradley, Bryant, 1983; Lenel Cantor, 1981;
Maclean, Bryant, Bradley, 1987). The phonological awareness skills of segmenting and blending
are the most highly correlated with beginning reading acquisition (Snow 192).
Students who may be at risk for reading difficulty often have poorer levels of phonological
awareness than others (Stanovitch Cunningham, Cramer, 1984). Although related, phonemic
awareness is different from auditory discrimination, phonetics, and phonics. The young child has
the ability to notice, mentally grab hold of, and manipulate different sound smallest chunks of
speech (Hodges Harris, 1995; Tunmer, Herriman, Nesdale, 1988; Yaden Templeton,

The History of Lehman Brothers
Lehman Brothers was founded by Henry Lehman, and his brothers, Emanuel and Mayer a German
immigrant in Montgomery, Alabama in 1850. Lehman Brothers gained there banking experience
by helping to intermediate funding for the emerging group of retail, industrial, and transportation
giants that were founded in the early 1900 s. Lehman brothers gained popularity and became a well

Under the leadership of Peterson, Lehman brothers saw huge profits and gained recognition
worldwide and had developed offices internationally through acquisitions. They were able to operate
in three main areas of finance which were investment banking, capital markets and client services.
Lehman faced serious problems during the 1980 recession when internal conflict broke out between
the investment bankers and traders. Lehman brothers were financially sound and generated healthy
profits, the trading partners only received a small portion of the profits which they thought was
unfair towards them. Lewis L. Glucksman, a 20 year Lehman veteran and highly successful trader

54. Evoloution of Polar Bears (Lamarck vs Darwin) Essay
The Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) is a bear native largely within the Arctic Circle encircling the
Arctic Ocean, its surrounding seas and land masses. Although it is closely related to the Brown
Bear, it has evolved to occupy a narrower ecological forte, with many body characteristics adapted
for cold temperatures, for moving across snow, ice, and open water, and for hunting the seals which
make up most of its diet. Though there are many theories surrounding evolution, the two stand
outstanding hypotheses applying to the modification from Brown Bearto Polar Bear are Lamarck s
theory of Use and Disuse, and Darwin s theory of Natural Selection. The intention of this paper is to

In 1977 a drought reduced the number of small seeds available for the birds, forcing them to rely
on larger seeds and nuts, which were difficult for birds with smaller beaks to open. The number
of birds unable to eat reduced as they died and gave way to harder beaked finches. Within a
couple of generations they had evolved larger beaks. In 2003 another drought struck the
Galapagos and as there were many large beaked finches, the food source of nuts dwindled,
making the ability to eat smaller seeds an asset. The numbers of larger beaked birds dwindled as
food became scarce, leaving the smaller birds to survive and reproduce. Darwin s theory was not
well received when first written in On the Origin of Species, though many scientists today use it as
a basis for research in evolution.
Both theories suggest that a species changes over time to be able to better adapt to an environment.
Though Lamarck thought that the entire population of that species would evolve as one, i.e. all
offspring changes together with same adaptation. Darwin concluded that only the specimen with
the mutation or an altered version of a feature to evolve a species as they would be able to adapt
and survive easier than those without it, thus causing the unevolved to die off while the evolved
lived. Over many many generations the species keeps evolving until it has perfected the new trait,

Utah Symphony Analysis
Financial Strengths:
The Utah Symphony received approximately 5% of its incoming from their endowment fund
annually. The organization raised $3,829 in revenue from rental fees, sets, props, costumes, box
office, etc. However, the symphony believes that the fundraising contributions are sufficient
enough currently to allow ticket prices to remain the same as the prior year is successful. The up
side is that there was a $116,308 in surplus at the end of the year.

addition, performance measurement must be instrumental in the growth. The symphony has an

scout and recruit new talent is required explore other performers around the world. Furthermore,
with the symphony s reputation, it should draw in new performers. Perhaps a look at the current

Financial and Leadership Recommendations;
Anne Ewers must take the following key steps to address above stated financial weaknesses. She
needs to reduce the overall expenses as it relates to the profit; the percentage of profit is less than
one percent of the total expenses. The symphony should increase profits by increasing ticket prices.
In order for Anne to increase the profitability from $116,000 to $500,000 annually, she needs to
increase their number of performances and make the musicians earn more of their salaries.
Furthermore, the symphony can expand the music selection to include other cultures and
communities that are appealing and invites new customers. Anne needs to solicit feedback from
patrons that attend the opera as well as potential customers. She needs to find out what they would
like, what would bring them back and invite friends and family.
