Not since the Civil war had the country been so torn. Every American family was impacted, losing
husbands, sons, and daughters. Over fifty thousand Americans were killed and many more still
suffer deep physical and emotional scars . Veterans took their own lives, were treated as social
outcasts, or ended up on the streets with the homeless. The Vietnam conflict was a war that many
did not understand and that left a nation questioning the government they had always trusted.

In the epilogue of The Blazing World, Cavendish puts forth that anyone who does not wish to be
a subject of her world can instead create their own (Cavendish 163), but how does one do this? In
the story, the Empress asserts that in order to create a world one must frame it, strengthen it, and
beautify it (126). The literary world that she creates in The Blazing World itself follows this
system as her use of structured lists, her descriptions of the strength of her society and her use of
poetic techniques in prose each support these ideas. This principal of world creation can be seen not
only throughout The Blazing World, but through her poetryas well. In her poem Of Many Worlds in
This World, Cavendish is able to convey these three rules of world building through both form
and content while creating a whole system of worlds for the reader to imagine. The passage of
The Blazing World that this essay will focus on is a passage in which the Duchess convinces the
Empress to make a world in her mind which the Empress decides not to dissolve. The passage

Over cultivation, over grazing, and deforestation are all the leading causes of soil erosion, or

Why is horror a necessity to human life? Why, when something horrible has taken place people
want to know all the gruesome details? Why is it that we all love packing into a movie theater to
watch innocent people be lynched and destroyed? In his essay Why We Crave Horror Stephen
King rightfully claims he has the answers to these troubling questions. He brilliantly states that
humans crave horror to face our fears, to regain a sense of normality, and have a little fun.

Summary Of The Net Imagery In Oresteia
In the Oresteia, revenge drives the characters to act. Although they call it justice, it is not.
Aeschylus uses net imagery to symbolize faith and destiny. When Clytemnestra murders
Agamemnon and Cassandra, the net imagery acts as a symbol of terrible fate. However, then fate
reverse. Now, Orestes is caught in Apollo s net and kills his own mother. Lastly, Athene changes
the meaning of the net from one of chaos to that of order and justice. These uses of the net
imagery help the reader focus on a crucial theme in the play: the superiority of a formal justice
system to one based on the individual quest for revenge by progressively altering the nets meaning
and its affect on those around it.
Clytemnestra s use of the net imagery focuses the reader on the drawback, that is, collateral
damage, of a justice system that is based on the individual quest for revenge by emphasizing the
collateral damage associated with revenge. As she stands over the bodies of Agamemnonand
Cassandra she says: I wrapped in a great net not a fish could have slipped from the shoal (69).
Involving the shoal in Clytemnestra s speech explains that with every revenge quest there are
innocent people who suffer the repercussions. An avenger does not consider the bystanders
surrounding the guilty person. Clytemnestra states that the net was so large that the fish could not
escape the shoal. If the fish s fate is to be caught in the net yet it cannot escape the shoal, that means
the shoal suffers the same

The Movie Nightcrawler
The movie Nightcrawler is a film that depicts a man that is a fast thinking, hard negotiating,
never give up, criminal. This criminal, Lou, is bold enough to steal goods and then ask for a job
while selling the goods he stole. His greatest desire is build a career for himself and learn a trade
so that he can own his own company. Lou witnesses a horrific car crash where the car caught on
fire and sees a videographer come in and video the scene and sell it. The videographer, Joe, tells
him that he can sell the video to highest bidder and that it would be a top story on the news. Lou
was intrigued and asked if Joe had a job, which he did not, and when Lou saw the work on the news
he was convinced this was his new career.
Lou steals a high end bike and trades up at a pawn shop for a video camera and a police scanner. His
first story is a carjacking story where he was able to get up close footage. Nina, the director of
news, was very interested in his footage for the pure graphic nature of it and that it was related to
crime. After she buys that footage from him, she gives him advice about what their particular news
channel is all about. She tells him that crime in a specific location are of interest to her, not the
urban areas but more about the crime that is overflowing into the suburbs. She tells Lou that it
would be better if the perpetrators are minority and that the victims are white. She tells him that not
necessarily bloody, but definitely graphic material
