The Yosemite Slough Restoration Project involved restoring tidal wetlands by breaching levees along the slough. Key steps included preconstruction surveys, mass grading of tidal areas, soil remediation, importing and spreading bay mud, constructing a snowy plover nesting island, and breaching the levees during low tide. The breach allowed the first incoming tide to flow into the newly restored wetlands, which was celebrated in San Francisco.
