The New Deal
The presidential election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932 had risen the nation's hope of
economic restoration. Over three years of unrelenting hardship had taken damage on the American
psyche. Roosevelt's landslide electoral victory over former president Herbert Hoover, signaled a
thorough rejection of the existing state of affairs and a desire for a new approach on "fixing the
national economic crisis" (Hurley). The new president would not let down the nation. During his
first two terms in office, FDR "enforced legislation through Congress that set a new standard for
government intervention in the economy" (wm.edu). The change he made for the nation was radical,
the plan would create a lasting impact that benefitted the country for ... Show more content on

This was essential at the time, particularly in states that were affected by the Dust Bowl, where trees
were needed to hold water and soil. The CCC's reforestation program was so effective that it
contributed to more than half of the reforestation in nation's history. The Works Progress
Administration was the largest relief program of them all. After the CWA expired, Roosevelt created
a relief program that gave Americans jobs that matched their skills and talents. Before its expiration
the WPA employed over 9 million Americans. The WPA projects had varied from public works to
arts (50a). The result of the program was that it raised everything up from the Stock–Market and
Business index to the food price index (The Nation, 581). Some critics labeled the WPA as the
"worst waste of taxpayer money in American history," however millions of Americans earned
money, support, and jobs that they desperately needed. Then President Roosevelt signed the social–
security bill on August 14, 1935. One of the biggest lasting impacts of the New Deal was the Social
Security Act of 1935. The Social Security Act was an act to provide general welfare by establishing
a system of Federal old–age benefits and welfare for the disabled and the dependent. Secretary of

New Medi New Digital Age
Living in a new digital age, we are seeing more computerized devices like smartphone and
computers replacing old media technologies like newspaper, radio and television. Characteristics of
new media as being digital, computerized, interactive and hypersexual have shaped new forms of
communication. Meanwhile, the ability of new media to merge different forms of media
technologies, industries and services so called convergence has also created unprecedented
transformations in the society. In this paper, I argue that new media has contributed to all aspects of
the paradigm shift. As it is constantly remediating its predecessors, it shapes new modes of
subjectivity and changes the way we perceive knowledge. Although these changes ... Show more

Thus, new media is reproducing itself through different old technologies. Not only new media is
remediating its predecessors, it also shapes new modes of subjectivity. Subjectivity means the
process of being a subject; it refers to who we are to how we react to the world. The emergence of
new media has unprecedentedly change the subjectivity of different things. For example, we are
experiencing new forms of textual experiences and representations such as genre, form and
consumption. There are new forms of embodiment and identity that change how we perceive
ourselves and our bodies. Organization also changes the rules of ownership, control, regulation.
These subjectivities are all being reshaped due to the change of our relationship with technologies.
The example discussed in lecture is subjectivity related to selfies. Media technologies has created
selfies which are these self–portraits taken by phones that gets uploaded to social media. It is a
convergence of technology, interaction and body. Selfies become a way to call to the world about
who we are and a commanding representation of self. Because the immediacy, ubiquity and
ephemerality of the social media, selfies have embodied these characteristics and become instant,
common and short–lived. The characteristics of new media is shaping the subjectivity of selfies.
Moreover, devices functions are more determinative than aesthetic conventions. Technologies offer
people the power to edit selfies. People

Proving the New Testament
Are the copies in existence today an accurate representation of the original copies of the New
Testament? There are many facts and studies that prove this claim to be true contrary to popular
belief by non–Christians and other religions alike. There are at least three reasons that it can be
know with certainty that the New Testament in existence today is an accurate representation of the
originals. Including the amount of copies, age, and determining that the variants within the Bible do
not make a difference. In an interview with Bruce Metzger, PH.D, Dr. Metzger points out many
facts and statistics that help prove that the New Testament in existence today is certainly an accurate
representation of the original ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Past president of the Society of biblical literature, the international society for the New Testament
studies and the North American Patristic Society." (Strobel 73–74)
One of the most well known arguments a skeptic will use is "How can we actually know what the
Bible authors actually wrote, all we have is copies of copies?" Metzger would argue that all of these
copies are actually quite useful. Since, there are so many manuscripts that can help to cross–
reference copies and create a better depiction of what the original would say. With all of the copies
and differing languages, this makes the cross–referencing even stronger. The book with next highest
amount of manuscripts is Homer's Iliad, which is the equivalent of the Bible to the ancient Greeks,
with only 650 manuscripts to cross–reference. The 5,000 Greek manuscripts of the Bible alone make
the 650 manuscripts of the Iliad seem minuscule. (Strobel)
Metzger further explains that there are many different kinds of manuscripts and they can vary from
what they are written on to the languages they were written in. The earliest of the manuscripts were
written on papyrus. This is important because of the papyrus being an older type of parchment, and
helps to show the age. The later manuscripts were written on parchment made from the skin of a
variety of animals. Some of the

New Historicism And New Historicism
Rather than focuses on the perspective of a single gender or individual, New Historicism operates on
a much broader spectrum, opting to study the history of entire civilizations and cultures. New
Historicism theory has its historical roots set in the Renaissance Period, led by the leading
spokesperson of the Middle Ages, Shakespeare. The theory makes its first appearance as old
historicism, a more primitive form of new historicism where history is a secondary background to
the primary background, the text itself. This version was developed into new historicism when
historians needed a theory that would allow them to formulate a unified and internally consistent
worldview of any given people of culture. Due to its rapid spread, this branch of theory – known as
cultural poetics – takes two different forms, its American "New Historian" form and its British
"cultural materialism" form. Both feature a call for the revival of historical consciousness, argue that
history and literature are both disciplines to be analyzed together, that text should be studied within
its appropriate context, and that research allows us to learn people to learn more about its habits,
beliefs, and self.
The similarities end here as the two forms begin to take on different characteristics and functions
from here on. New Historicism is the theory in an American context, and its primary focus revolves
around the significance of culture in literature. This form argues that culture permeates both

The New Testament
The New Testament is rooted in history; real histories like time and space. It is also striking in its
personal tone. The great majority of its documents are letters; personal letters similar to those used
in the modern era. The format may be somewhat different for moderns; however, for those recipients
receiving and reading the letters in the 1st Century they represented normal writing conventions.
The four Gospel accounts the New Testament contains are personalized accounts of the life and
work of Jesus Christ as he came too initiated in the Kingdom of God. They are informative and
actually contain the very words of Jesus. Luke, the writer of one of the accounts, gives, early on, in
his account, the genealogy of Jesus as traced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only Acts provides the outline of Paul's missionary activity, from his conversion to his Roman
imprisonment (chapters 13–28). No record exists detailing the various missionary activities of the
other apostles although it seems possible they were doing likewise. The author of Hebrews is
unknown; however, the book is a superb comparison/correlation of the old and new covenants. The
apocalyptic revelation John received is addressed to seven churches of Asia and, while it gives
warning concerning their current treatment of the gospel, it also gives encouragement to them
pertaining to present and upcoming persecution. The New Testament is a wonderful piece of divine
literature and stands worthy of our confidence.
It is generally thought that Paul's writings were the first to be recognized in their circulation among
the churches. His letter to the Galatians appears like it was his first and to have been written
approximately 48–49CE. His other letters are thought to have been written during the 50–60'sCE.
The Gospel accounts are considered to have been written in the period 60–85CE. Luke is credited
with having written his Gospel account as well as Acts sometime during the 60–70CE timeframe.
The writer, as well as the date of writing of Hebrews, is unknown; however, estimates are of a pre–

New Historicism And New Historicism
New Historicism, the American branch of Cultural Poetics, was coined in 1982 by Stephen
Greenblatt along with many other scholars believe that one's culture permeates both texts and critics.
Because all of society is inextricably interwoven with the culture of the time in which the texts are
produced. So each critic will formulate a unique interpretation for any given text. (Bressler, pp.188)
To put it bluntly, New Historicism considers works of literature as historical texts and joins the study
of literature and history together primarily to observe how they influence each other. New
Historicism suggests a subjective approach to literature and was practiced mostly in Renaissance
studies. According to new historicism, identity is fashioned by social institutions. Literature is
another form of social construct, which is produced by the society and in return is active in
reshaping the culture of that society. Literature is a cultural creation constructed by more than one
consciousness. Therefore, social, political, religious, and economic factors of a given society
determine the literature it produces. These elements circulate in society through "social energy,"
which is encoded in the works of art, which trespasses its historicity and becomes the means to
represent the ideology of the culture through resonant texts. New Historicism ventures this through
its suggestion of historicity of texts and textuality of history.
This theory has been most useful to the discipline

News
What is the news supposed to be?
Strangely, "news" is a slightly indefinable product because it can vary according to its relevance or
importance to each person who consumes it – what is intensely strong, relevant and "hard" news to
one person can be nothing more than gossip to another (e.g. the marital status of some Hollywood
star is valuable, heavily consumed news to organisations like the "E" channel or TMZ, but rubbish
to, say, readers of the Washington Post.)
In essence news is anything that informs, interprets or explains current events – usually events that
the public can't experience directly themselves and therefore rely on news media to convey the
information to them.
However, the internet and the digital revolution in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
News is generated, consumed and disposed of at ever–accelerating pace, which also raises questions
about the quality of news in the modern era.
For example, the approach to news by organisations like Buzzfeed or the Daily Mail is funnier,
quirkier – and some would argue often less accurate – than the more considered and researched
offerings coming from traditional media organisations employing journalists who are drilled on the
need for balanced, well researched, accurate and ethical reporting.
There is a very large audience for modern social–media based news – as there still is for
"traditional" quality news, but the public needs to be constantly wary and skeptical about what
they're consuming.
If those preparing it have stuck to principles of accuracy, fairness, balance and (as much as possible)
objectivity, then it should be news of some quality – regrettably, this is not always the case in
modern, low–cost self–published "news".
What are some techniques used to capture people's attention and keep viewers interested?
The same basic techniques are pursued in conveying news – no matter its subject, its media, or who
is preparing it – and they revolve around the way information is ordered, arranged and displayed.
Anyone conveying news will always seek to highlight the most interesting/alarming/noteworthy or
latest piece of information available.

New Australia And New Zealand
New Zealand is a vast and amazing small country in the Pacific Ocean, whose cultures are very
unique. The people of New Zealand are called Kiwis, because of the country's national bird, the
Kiwi. The Kiwis of New Zealand are a very polite culture and have great manners. They are some of
the most polite people in all of Britain. The culture of New Zealand differs from what other people
in the world are used to. New Zealand is a small country made up of islands in the southwest Pacific
Ocean. The island country of New Zealand was originally discovered by Polynesians in the years
1200 and 1300 AD (Wilson 1). The Polynesians were people who spread civilization throughout the
Pacific and were made up of Samoans, Tongans, Maori, and many more ... Show more content on

Since 1978 the New Zealand diet consists of meat, potatoes, vegetables in season, fruits in season,
dairy and fish. Dietary and food items are always available in supermarkets to just go and grab the
food you need. The Maori dishes are different than the conventional New Zealand cuisine. The
Maori dish consists of seafood, birds, pork, lamb and kumara. On Christmas the meal consists of
turkey and ham, along with Christmas pudding. (Wilson 1). People under the age of 18 are not
allowed to buy alcohol, and driving after drinking has heavy penalties. New Zealand has a drinking
custom called shouting, where if a person buys someone a drink, they are required to buy that
person their next drink (New Zealand Customs & Culture 1).
There are two types of ways to dine in New Zealand, with New Zealand etiquette or with Maori
etiquette. New Zealanders politeness and etiquette are reflected in their table manners. For New
Zealanders, the more formal a meal is the more etiquette and disciplined they must be. If it is just a
meal with a couple of friends it would be alright to let loose, but if it is a very important meal with
the president or a date's family proper table manners are necessary. In New Zealand culture, people
must be told where to sit before sitting down. Along with American table etiquette, elbows must
remain off the table while eating and the food is eaten with the fork in the left hand and the knife in

News Commentary On Crime And The Media
Lastly, the dramatization by news programs today produces a glamorization of crime. News stories
on crimes are extremely popular due to the fact that audiences' remember bad news much easier than
good news. Take history for example, much of history is filled with recounts of gruesome murders,
wars, and scandals. An estimated 71 million viewers across the country tune in to their local news
station's broadcast (Yanich, 2004, p. 537). It can easily be assumed then that an estimated 71 million
people will know the basic details of a crime that their news station is broadcasting. Crimes and
their corresponding cases are exceedingly well known by viewers at the time when they are
broadcasted; people know the names of the suspects, victims, and the main details of the crime
itself. As posited in Yanich's article (2004) on crime and the media, "The media's treatment of and its
relationship to crime and justice policy has received much attention."(p. 535). With all of this
attention on crimes in the news it is not surprising that in many instances alleged or even convicted
criminals are seen as celebrities. These criminals receive ample airtime, and in many situations
crimes and criminals that are highly broadcasted in the news are often later turned into big
blockbuster movies. Movies such as Psycho, Bonnie and Clyde, and Zodiac are all based upon real
life criminals and crimes. Some serial killers even have secret admirers that are obsessed with them.

The New Heaven And New Earth Essay
Topic: The New Heaven and New Earth
Text: Rev. 21:1–8
Need: All of us always look eagerly for something that is much better, especially a kind of life that
free from burdens, deceases, struggles and hardships. Can we look forward to that kind of life or is it
just a fantasy? As we study eschatology, God's children can really look for this better life – much
better, compared to any kind of world's betterment. But, when are we going to attain that kind of
life? Yes, God is going to create the new heaven and the new earth – everything new. How the new

these thoughts be seldom or cursory, but settle upon them; bathe thy soul in heavenly delights."
Therefore, as God's children we have to learn to do them here – Psa.27:4.
3. A holy resource (vv5–7)
 "I make all things new" – all that benefits the righteous. Only Jesus Christ is able to make
everything new. New wine, new heart, new spirit, new man, new heaven and new earth. All these
were created as new for man's benefits. The creation was made good and new – for men to have
eternal fellowship with God.
 In the NT Jesus invited everyone to come to Him for rest, to quench their thirst, for safety and for

The New Testament
The New Testament The second part of the Christian Bible is the sacred books of the New
Testament. It is the recordings of Jesus and his earliest followers' lives and teachings. The New
Testament only covers several decades unlike the Old Testament, which covers thousands of years.
The earliest manuscript we have containing all the books of the New Testament comes from 300
A.D however it included books that are not in the Bible today (Schenck, 2010, p. 27). "The Council
of Carthage in A.D. 397 gave the list official approval, accepting these twenty–seven writings as the
New Testament" (Schenck, 2010, p. 28). The New Testament is not a single book written by one
man, but, rather, twenty–seven books written in Greek by at least eight different inspired men of
God from various places. For these books to even be considered part of the New Testament
Scriptures, they had to have been verified that they were the inspired work of an apostle or a
prophet. There are at least four different kinds of genres used in the New Testament, possibly more
(Schenck, 2010, p. 22). The Gospels which are composed of the first four books, Matthew, Mark,
Luke, and John. Each of these books contains important events and teachings from Jesus' life on
earth. The fifth, the book of Acts reads like a history book with detailed, orderly, accounts of the
birth and growth of the early church immediately after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts connect
the life of the churches to the life

False News Bias Essay
Everyday, billions of people read websites, magazines, newspapers, or watch television segments so
they are informed on what is happening in the world. The news is something that so many people
rely on and check constantly. What people aren't aware of however, is that so much of what they are
being told is a lie. False news is a growing and constant issue in today's society. Fake news spreads
rapidly, changing people's views on the world constantly. However, putting an end to this media
trend has proved to be a struggle. Fake news comes from countless places and spreads at an
alarmingly fast rate. Usually, false stories start as a hoax on a small scale website, blog, or even
social media post. A journalist from a slightly bigger news ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most of this has to do with the fact that fake news is biased. People like and share the information
that aligns or confirms their beliefs and disregard the information that does not. According to a
recent analysis, "information can bring people together or drive them apart... Fake news is divisive".
On the other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and persuades the ones who
do not. With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people have become more and
more divided on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society that has been completely
bombarded with false information is the Presidential Election. In fact, as election day got closer and
closer, the most popular stories were derived from false information (Obama). That is a big problem
because as voters were trying to make an educated decision on who to vote for, they were being told
information that was not even true. Some people say that fake news could have even altered the
election results. But why are people believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change
someone's opinion on something, they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information.
False news sources have been working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying
is true. One way to do this is by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another
way is by making their sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to
trustworthy places ("Fake News and the Internet Shell Game"). Unfortunately, once fake news is

The New England 's New World
Essay 1
In order to practice religious freedoms, Puritans fled from England to the New World. The New
World represented potential and freedoms that were unattainable in England. The New England
settlers overcame adversities and created challenges that would go on to change the course of
history. When they first arrived, their inexperience was shown through the death of nearly half their
colony in the first year. The introduction of the Wampanoag tribe to the New England colony was
such a crucial component to their survival and a primary reason they were able to sustain and even
increase their population. The New England colony proved to be successful in establishing a
necessary relationship with the Wampanoag, thriving through their protestant work ethic, and
ultimately creating a stable settlement; however, they failed when it came to maintaining that stable
relationship with the Wampanoag, their lack of experience in the New World, and the hypocritical
tendencies of their actions.
When the Pilgrims first arrived, they were not hesitant about claiming land and getting right to
work. Their protestant work ethic ensured that they worked hard because there was a high moral
obligation to fulfill ones duty in worldly affairs. Worldly success is a sign of God's favor, so when
they landed upon an abandoned Indian village they took it as a sign from God that they were on the
right path and were being rewarded. They established communities of family farmers, which proved

the bias in the everyday reporting.
Media Convergence
The convergence of media, especially the more traditional media sources taking to the internet, has
been both a blessing and a curse. The ability to report on anything in the world at a moment's notice
has transformed the idea of journalism. The reporters of today are of no resemblance of the reporters
of the past. The folks who would spend weeks tracking down information and sources for a story
now spend moments at a laptop accomplishing what they consider to be the same thing. This has
caused the current news media to have issues with both integrity and accuracy. In the past, reporters
would spend ample amounts of time gathering information, forming their thoughts, and writing the
article. Even with the amount of time they spent on this process, there was even more time allotted
for checking and double checking their facts to ensure the accuracy and morality of the story.
Today's journalists have posted articles just moments after an event. This can be helpful in many
ways, but also harmful. The immediate gratification of posting an article negates any thought about

The New World
After settlement of "The New World" by the English in the early 17th century, there was a surge of
Englishmen hoping to strike rich, escape the religious government of England, or start a new life
with their family. Specific reasons for leaving England had its respective colonies to travel to. For
this reason, the northern New England colonies and the southern colonies like Virginia and
Maryland in the Chesapeake bay area started to establish ways of life that began to develop very
different lifestyles. The reasoning behind the foundation of each colony is what created such a
substantial amount of difference between two areas of English settlement.
Following the defeat of the Spanish armada, England finally had the power to venture out to the
Americas after hearing about a century's worth of Spanish success in that region themselves. Single
Englishmen in search of wealth began to sail to America, and did not find the gold they were
searching for. It was not until the success from the crop tobacco, did anyone in Virginia prosper.
This set the stage for a huge colony with an economy relying on large plantations of this new staple
crop. The many who sought out the Massachusetts bay colony in New England were likely not
going to strike rich on a plantation, but to either escape the English Church, or to start a new life for
their family. The Massachusetts bay colony was founded by Puritans who wanted to fix, or purify,
the English church and for this reason, were also very

The New Deal : The New Deal
It all started back in 1929, the depression era. The stock market had recently crashed and people
were desperate for hope. Unemployment was at its all time high, more than one fourth of the U.S
population was unemployed and gradually increasing. At the time of when the depression first
began, President Herbert Hoover was in power. During the depression people would wait in long
lines just for a few bites to eat. Volunteers would hand out food to the hopeless and hungry people,
these were commonly known as Soup kitchens in "Hoovervilles" . The soup kitchens and the help
efforts that were in place during the depression were named after the president of the time. The
struggles did not get any better until the start of the CCC, The Civilian Conservation Corp. The CCC
or otherwise known as the Civilian Conservation Corp was a group, in the beginning there were
about 250,000 young men that joined but towards the end of the program there was a total of 3
million enrollees! The young men were paid and well feed to work for their people and the
environment which we now live in. The CCC began in the year 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt was the
President of that time. He had witnessed the struggle his people were going through at the time of
the depression and he had enough. After taking office in the year 1933 he acted fast and created the
"New Deal". This New Deal was an effort to help the citizens of the United States come out of
unemployment and to give back the people their lost

Why do some events fill the columns and air time of news media, while others are ignored? Why do
some stories make banner headlines whereas others merit no more than a few lines? What factors
decide what news professionals consider newsworthy? Such questions are often answered – by
journalists and media researchers alike – with references to journalistic news values or 'news
criteria'. Some answers are normatively founded; others are pragmatic and descriptive. In the present
article, I submit that editorial priorities should not be analyzed in purely journalistic terms. ... Show

These include tacit procedures, routines and conditions that can both expand and constrain the room
for maneuver. Such rules and procedures become internalized and are perceived as more or less
natural ways to go about doing things. If we then consider news media in this perspective, it
becomes clear that regardless of the organization, there is a common understanding of certain basic
genre rules that news reporting must observe and conventions regarding what is relevant and how it
should be presented. This understanding is also reflected in both sources' and the public's
expectations and requirements. News desks solve the problem by establishing certain routines for
surveillance and news gathering in certain areas and through decisions concerning frameworks for
the content 'mix', page or program editing, and design. Reporters are forced, as Gaye Tuchman
(1973) so aptly put it, to "routinize the unexpected". News stories are generally presented in familiar
wrappings. Another characteristic of institutions is that they extend over space and endure over time.
"Institutions by definition are the more enduring features of social life," as Anthony Giddens

A fact is something that is said to be indisputably true. Facts are key in portraying any storyline or
narrative. If facts are important in conveying relevant information the media should be concerned
with reporting only facts that provide an accurate description of events. Unfortunately, certain media
outlets have issues with reporting solely facts. The media can be an amazing tool for dispersing
information amongst the masses and can ensure that everyone is educated on relevant and important
topics. The media can also be used as propaganda to further an agenda that may not be in everyone's
best interest. Regardless of what media is used for it is a very powerful outlet and whoever controls
the media outlets can control the publics' perception of a given situation.

New Australia And New Zealand Essay
New Zealand had often been regarded within the global community as an idyllic island paradise
with very little national troubles. While the former may be true, the British colonization of new
Zealand in 1841 created many problems between the british settlers and the indigenous Maori.
Many of these grievances have yet to be reconciled with numerous social issues still facing urban
Maori today. While is new Zealand still coming to terms with its biculturalism and addressing the
issues surrounding that, the Chinese community are fighting for their place within a multicultural
new Zealand after a 140 year history within the country.
Response to: New Zealand Chinese identity: sojourners, model minority and multiple identities.
Within new Zealand, the Chinese 140 year migration history is one that has been largely overlooked.
While the Chinese community as a whole have various commonalities such as the attainment of
high educational profiles, there are also many differences between subgroups of the Chinese
community. These differences can particularly be seen between the old and new immigrants. Ip and
Pang (2005.) demonstrate that new immigrants were raised in a society where China is a global
powerhouse and they can be unapologetically Chinese. In stark contrast to this, old Chinese
immigrants faced widespread prejudice and discrimination both socially and through government
legislation. Legislations restricting the number of Chinese immigrants allowed to enter new Zealand

A democratic election, which is the voting system that forms the government, is held every three
years. Also, to make it unlikely that any political party will obtain a majority of the seats in the
House of Representatives, New Zealand uses a Mixed Member Proportional voting system. This
means that the winning political party must form a coalition with one or more of the political parties.
Additionally, a system of "responsible government" is used. "This means government can only be
made up of Ministers who are first elected members of the House of Representatives. The
government can only stay in power while it has a majority of members in the House of
Representatives" (govt.nz).
New Zealand has three major languages. The first language is English. Although it is not an official

Informative Essay On Fake News
Bogus News
Everyone is tuned into the news because sometimes it has information the society needs to know.
The reason I say sometimes must do with the fact that not all news is trustworthy. Fake news is seen
very often and can be misinterpreted by many people. Well, what is fake news? I believe fake news
is information that is false and just out there to get attention to it. Behind fake news comes fake
ideas, most people's opinions on social media, and false predictions or sayings. Nowadays, anything
could be considered as news but I think it's important to identify the real news from the fake ones.
That way whatever anyone hears or sees will be reliable.
According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Tan says, "Fake ideas are more subtly dangerous than
fake facts." I agree with this statement because facts are facts and ideas can be changed several
times. When it comes to ideas, good or bad, some go beyond our expectations that we question
ourselves, "Will it happen?" or "Will it work?". Anyone can come up with an idea and expose what
they created to the whole world. The Philippine Daily Inquirer states, "... they exaggerate an idea
and twist its logic beyond recognition." In fake news any nonsense is shown and said but, the public
can't distinguish was it true and what is false. If the news is about political issues or relates to
something about the government, it should be accurate. The article Real Confusion about Fake
News, Kappan explains, "At present, we worry that

News writing is made to inform others with the truth. However, humans are naturally a greedy
species. We always want more; this goes with power and wealth. As a result, the art of journalism
can sometimes be tarnished to make a quick profit. Eye opening headlines with false or irrelevant
information are becoming more common. Some writers even disobey writing ethics by unfactual
and biased stories, otherwise known as "fake news". There are other examples but in the end,
viewership is needed so writers spice up their articles in any way, shape or form to get their money.
Some are written well enough to look like legitimate news articles; many people can easily be

preserves the countryside because they know how important it is to be close to nature. The
government is very forward thinking. New Zealand's economy is growing and business
opportunities are everywhere. The growing free market has increased development in many sectors

About 1000 years ago, Polynesian's were the first to inhabit New Zealand. They became the Maori
people. Then in 1642 the European explorer, Abel Janszoon Tasman, sailed to the island.
Unfortunately his arrival brought about violence and Abel Janszoon Tasman left to return home
shortly after the violence erupted. In 1769 two European captains land in New Zealand thus bringing
with them muskets that start a war between waring Maori tribes. In 1840 some of the tribe leaders
and the British Crown signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which brought the country under British
control and gave the Maori equal rights as the British citizens.
In 1893 women were given the right to vote, in 1898 they started pensions, and in 1907 they
founded a child welfare program. Since 1941 the country has had socialized medicine. New Zealand

on the fox news there were two anchors, a man and a woman dressed more professional with a suit

stories last approximately ten minutes and for this specific day, they focused more about France and
their presidential election while the fox news touched the surface on France but talked about a
shooting that occurred over there. The fox news lacked detailed stories because jumped to recent
events rather quickly. For example, Fox talked about wall street, the weather, France, tragic events
and deaths, for less than 10 minutes each, making it hard to understand the importance of each
event. While the anchors from Fox would communicate with a third person located in another area
to give their reports, the PBS anchor gives a more intimate connection with her reports, by showing
the events that are occurring then talking about them right after, she would also give interviews with
people one on one, like she did with the united nation security general. The news being distributed

industry, various stakeholders will stick to the argument that objective Journalism is what has
always been practiced. Biases or even pressures from the various parties and stakeholders in the
industry are claims that will be strongly refuted. Just like in any other profession, those in support of
the argument will attest to the thorough training undertaken by those who attend institutions on
journalism and news industry to maintain the standards of the same, the top most aspect being
objectivity. Anybody in the industry is taught to strive and be objective in their work which involves
the three aspects of balance, depersonalization and accuracy. Through his book, McNair (2009)

ingrained in impartiality. There are the technical and formal characteristics in Journalism which
make it believable as a source of information. In England, for example, there is the perceived truth
and legitimacy quotient in broadcast journalism founded on the assertion of there being impartiality

In the center of the New Testament a centric theme is present –– Jesus is the Messiah and He has
helped bring salvation to Jews and Gentiles alike. In order to understand this theme throughout the
New Testament it has to be through the scope of the culture that Jesus was brought in and in of each
section of the New Testament. Jesus came a time when the Jewish culture was prospering, but also
under pressure from the Roman Empire. The Gospel's tell of the story of Jesus and how he proved to

has brought salvation to all of humanity. Because Jesus is the center of the New Testament He also
should be the center of our lives and not treated as a moralistic therapeutic deity.
Jesus came into this world as a common Jewish citizen of Rome. Jesus performed most of His signs
and miracles in the rural regions populated by the Jewish community. He avoided Jerusalem because
of the lessons that He taught the people. The high priests did not enter these rural communities
because they were unsafe in them. Jesus chose twelve disciples to follow Him for two reasons. He
needed someone to continue on the work when He left and also to symbolize the twelve tribes of
Judah. Jesus is part of the Davidic line of kings, so He then exemplifies the King of the Jews. Jesus
proclaiming that He is the King of Jews also resonates the idea that He is the Messiah.

The New Covenant is different than the Old Covenant because it incorporates a promise.
Precedently, the covenants were made, but not promised. With the covenant be promised, it meant
that there would be drastic changes that would take place. Mainly the New Covenant would signify
the end of how God historically dealt with his people.
The language used in this text is very important. Throughout the section, the Lord makes many "I
will" statements, especially in verse 33. All of these "I will" statements are God acting in sovereign
grace. The first "I will" statement is "I will make", the hebrew word for this statement is "Karath

In contrast to that there's the pronoun "her" in lines 5, 6, and 7. In the second part of the poem, lines

say, that there's a persona talking which is the statue. Additionally this part seems very emotional.
The pronoun "our" used in line 3, "Here at our sea–washed [...]," shows that the addressee is more or

The Pros And Cons Of Fake News
The Internet and social media has become a great way for people to get news, but it has also become
a way for rumors, scams, and false political stories to spread. These things have all become
classified as 'fake news.' Fake news started with the internet, and it has evolved through social
media to become a real problem. People are being tricked by fake news into giving up personal
information or being led to believe in false rumors about people or politics. Fake news has become
such a ubiquitous idea that even the President of the United States has started calling entire news
companies 'fake news.' This trend of calling entire news outlets fake has made it difficult to
understand what is truly made–up news, and what is news that simply stretches the truth for their
own benefit or to support a political side. Fake news has become a 21st century threat because of
how it can falsely influence people to support one side of an argument. So, what is 'fake news?'
According to Merriam–Webster, fake news is defined as fake ("false, counterfeit") news ("material
reported in a newspaper or news periodical or on a newscast"). "But the definition is often expanded
to include websites that circulate distorted, decontextualized or dubious information through – for
example – clicking baiting headlines that don't reflect the facts of the story, or undeclared bias"
(Hunt). There are two different types of fake news, the first type is news that is completely false,

American based corporations that conduct business in New Zealand can sue the New Zealand
government for any law that is implemented that may directly or indirectly hinder their profits.
Litigation will take place in an offshore tribunal court, which is usually provided and ruled by the
World Bank's Investment Dispute Centre (ICSID). All FTA's are usually settled by the WTO in a
structured, quasi–judicial court, however, the TPPA is assessed as an investment and the ICSID has
a court system that has little case precedent and inconsistent verdicts generally favoring the investor
rather than the nation's government. If the litigation process favors the investor, the country's
taxpayers burdens the litigation costs and extremely large settlement (largest award in favor of the
investor was $1.7 billion, Occidental Petroleum against Ecuador) (Lopez 1). I know a burden of this
magnitude would supersede the New Zealand taxpayer's benefits of the TPPA; this is a term that
needs to be renegotiated. A significant case of corporation vs. country was the case between El
Salvador and Pacific Rim mining company. In 2009 Pacific Rim agreed to terms with El Salvador to
mine certain parts of the land in an eco–friendly. In the following years over 90% of El Salvador's

The New Deal

  • 1. The New Deal The presidential election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932 had risen the nation's hope of economic restoration. Over three years of unrelenting hardship had taken damage on the American psyche. Roosevelt's landslide electoral victory over former president Herbert Hoover, signaled a thorough rejection of the existing state of affairs and a desire for a new approach on "fixing the national economic crisis" (Hurley). The new president would not let down the nation. During his first two terms in office, FDR "enforced legislation through Congress that set a new standard for government intervention in the economy" (wm.edu). The change he made for the nation was radical, the plan would create a lasting impact that benefitted the country for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was essential at the time, particularly in states that were affected by the Dust Bowl, where trees were needed to hold water and soil. The CCC's reforestation program was so effective that it contributed to more than half of the reforestation in nation's history. The Works Progress Administration was the largest relief program of them all. After the CWA expired, Roosevelt created a relief program that gave Americans jobs that matched their skills and talents. Before its expiration the WPA employed over 9 million Americans. The WPA projects had varied from public works to arts (50a). The result of the program was that it raised everything up from the Stock–Market and Business index to the food price index (The Nation, 581). Some critics labeled the WPA as the "worst waste of taxpayer money in American history," however millions of Americans earned money, support, and jobs that they desperately needed. Then President Roosevelt signed the social– security bill on August 14, 1935. One of the biggest lasting impacts of the New Deal was the Social Security Act of 1935. The Social Security Act was an act to provide general welfare by establishing a system of Federal old–age benefits and welfare for the disabled and the dependent. • 3. New Medi New Digital Age Living in a new digital age, we are seeing more computerized devices like smartphone and computers replacing old media technologies like newspaper, radio and television. Characteristics of new media as being digital, computerized, interactive and hypersexual have shaped new forms of communication. Meanwhile, the ability of new media to merge different forms of media technologies, industries and services so called convergence has also created unprecedented transformations in the society. In this paper, I argue that new media has contributed to all aspects of the paradigm shift. As it is constantly remediating its predecessors, it shapes new modes of subjectivity and changes the way we perceive knowledge. Although these changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, new media is reproducing itself through different old technologies. Not only new media is remediating its predecessors, it also shapes new modes of subjectivity. Subjectivity means the process of being a subject; it refers to who we are to how we react to the world. The emergence of new media has unprecedentedly change the subjectivity of different things. For example, we are experiencing new forms of textual experiences and representations such as genre, form and consumption. There are new forms of embodiment and identity that change how we perceive ourselves and our bodies. Organization also changes the rules of ownership, control, regulation. These subjectivities are all being reshaped due to the change of our relationship with technologies. The example discussed in lecture is subjectivity related to selfies. Media technologies has created selfies which are these self–portraits taken by phones that gets uploaded to social media. It is a convergence of technology, interaction and body. Selfies become a way to call to the world about who we are and a commanding representation of self. Because the immediacy, ubiquity and ephemerality of the social media, selfies have embodied these characteristics and become instant, common and short–lived. The characteristics of new media is shaping the subjectivity of selfies. Moreover, devices functions are more determinative than aesthetic conventions. Technologies offer people the power to edit selfies. People ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many facts and studies that prove this claim to be true contrary to popular belief by non–Christians and other religions alike. There are at least three reasons that it can be know with certainty that the New Testament in existence today is an accurate representation of the originals. Including the amount of copies, age, and determining that the variants within the Bible do not make a difference. In an interview with Bruce Metzger, PH.D, Dr. Metzger points out many facts and statistics that help prove that the New Testament in existence today is certainly an accurate representation of the original ... (Strobel 73–74) One of the most well known arguments a skeptic will use is "How can we actually know what the Bible authors actually wrote, all we have is copies of copies?" Metzger would argue that all of these copies are actually quite useful. Since, there are so many manuscripts that can help to cross– reference copies and create a better depiction of what the original would say. With all of the copies and differing languages, this makes the cross–referencing even stronger. The book with next highest amount of manuscripts is Homer's Iliad, which is the equivalent of the Bible to the ancient Greeks, with only 650 manuscripts to cross–reference. The 5,000 Greek manuscripts of the Bible alone make the 650 manuscripts of the Iliad seem minuscule. (Strobel) Metzger further explains that there are many different kinds of manuscripts and they can vary from what they are written on to the languages they were written in. The earliest of the manuscripts were written on papyrus. This is important because of the papyrus being an older type of parchment, and helps to show the age. The later manuscripts were written on parchment made from the skin of a variety of animals. Some of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. New Historicism And New Historicism Rather than focuses on the perspective of a single gender or individual, New Historicism operates on a much broader spectrum, opting to study the history of entire civilizations and cultures. New Historicism theory has its historical roots set in the Renaissance Period, led by the leading spokesperson of the Middle Ages, Shakespeare. The theory makes its first appearance as old historicism, a more primitive form of new historicism where history is a secondary background to the primary background, the text itself. This version was developed into new historicism when historians needed a theory that would allow them to formulate a unified and internally consistent worldview of any given people of culture. Due to its rapid spread, this branch of theory – known as cultural poetics – takes two different forms, its American "New Historian" form and its British "cultural materialism" form. Both feature a call for the revival of historical consciousness, argue that history and literature are both disciplines to be analyzed together, that text should be studied within its appropriate context, and that research allows us to learn people to learn more about its habits, beliefs, and self. The similarities end here as the two forms begin to take on different characteristics and functions from here on. New Historicism is the theory in an American context, and its primary focus revolves around the significance of culture in literature. This form argues that culture permeates both literature ... The great majority of its documents are letters; personal letters similar to those used in the modern era. The format may be somewhat different for moderns; however, for those recipients receiving and reading the letters in the 1st Century they represented normal writing conventions. The four Gospel accounts the New Testament contains are personalized accounts of the life and work of Jesus Christ as he came too initiated in the Kingdom of God. They are informative and actually contain the very words of Jesus. Luke, the writer of one of the accounts, gives, early on, in his account, the genealogy of Jesus as traced ... No record exists detailing the various missionary activities of the other apostles although it seems possible they were doing likewise. The author of Hebrews is unknown; however, the book is a superb comparison/correlation of the old and new covenants. The apocalyptic revelation John received is addressed to seven churches of Asia and, while it gives warning concerning their current treatment of the gospel, it also gives encouragement to them pertaining to present and upcoming persecution. The New Testament is a wonderful piece of divine literature and stands worthy of our confidence. It is generally thought that Paul's writings were the first to be recognized in their circulation among the churches. His letter to the Galatians appears like it was his first and to have been written approximately 48–49CE. His other letters are thought to have been written during the 50–60'sCE. The Gospel accounts are considered to have been written in the period 60–85CE. Luke is credited with having written his Gospel account as well as Acts sometime during the 60–70CE timeframe. • 11. New Historicism And New Historicism New Historicism, the American branch of Cultural Poetics, was coined in 1982 by Stephen Greenblatt along with many other scholars believe that one's culture permeates both texts and critics. Because all of society is inextricably interwoven with the culture of the time in which the texts are produced. So each critic will formulate a unique interpretation for any given text. (Bressler, pp.188) To put it bluntly, New Historicism considers works of literature as historical texts and joins the study of literature and history together primarily to observe how they influence each other. New Historicism suggests a subjective approach to literature and was practiced mostly in Renaissance studies. According to new historicism, identity is fashioned by social institutions. Literature is another form of social construct, which is produced by the society and in return is active in reshaping the culture of that society. Literature is a cultural creation constructed by more than one consciousness. Therefore, social, political, religious, and economic factors of a given society determine the literature it produces. These elements circulate in society through "social energy," which is encoded in the works of art, which trespasses its historicity and becomes the means to represent the ideology of the culture through resonant texts. New Historicism ventures this through its suggestion of historicity of texts and textuality of history. This theory has been most useful to the discipline ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. News What is the news supposed to be? Strangely, "news" is a slightly indefinable product because it can vary according to its relevance or importance to each person who consumes it – what is intensely strong, relevant and "hard" news to one person can be nothing more than gossip to another (e.g. the marital status of some Hollywood star is valuable, heavily consumed news to organisations like the "E" channel or TMZ, but rubbish to, say, readers of the Washington Post.) In essence news is anything that informs, interprets or explains current events – usually events that the public can't experience directly themselves and therefore rely on news media to convey the information to them. However, the internet and the digital revolution in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... News is generated, consumed and disposed of at ever–accelerating pace, which also raises questions about the quality of news in the modern era. For example, the approach to news by organisations like Buzzfeed or the Daily Mail is funnier, quirkier – and some would argue often less accurate – than the more considered and researched offerings coming from traditional media organisations employing journalists who are drilled on the need for balanced, well researched, accurate and ethical reporting. There is a very large audience for modern social–media based news – as there still is for "traditional" quality news, but the public needs to be constantly wary and skeptical about what they're consuming. If those preparing it have stuck to principles of accuracy, fairness, balance and (as much as possible) objectivity, then it should be news of some quality – regrettably, this is not always the case in modern, low–cost self–published "news". What are some techniques used to capture people's attention and keep viewers interested? The same basic techniques are pursued in conveying news – no matter its subject, its media, or who is preparing it – and they revolve around the way information is ordered, arranged and displayed. Anyone conveying news will always seek to highlight the most interesting/alarming/noteworthy or

The people of New Zealand are called Kiwis, because of the country's national bird, the Kiwi. The Kiwis of New Zealand are a very polite culture and have great manners. They are some of the most polite people in all of Britain. The culture of New Zealand differs from what other people in the world are used to. New Zealand is a small country made up of islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean. The island country of New Zealand was originally discovered by Polynesians in the years 1200 and 1300 AD (Wilson 1). Dietary and food items are always available in supermarkets to just go and grab the food you need. The Maori dishes are different than the conventional New Zealand cuisine. The Maori dish consists of seafood, birds, pork, lamb and kumara. On Christmas the meal consists of turkey and ham, along with Christmas pudding. (Wilson 1). People under the age of 18 are not allowed to buy alcohol, and driving after drinking has heavy penalties. New Zealand has a drinking custom called shouting, where if a person buys someone a drink, they are required to buy that person their next drink (New Zealand Customs & Culture 1). There are two types of ways to dine in New Zealand, with New Zealand etiquette or with Maori etiquette. New Zealanders politeness and etiquette are reflected in their table manners. For New Zealanders, the more formal a meal is the more etiquette and disciplined they must be. If it is just a meal with a couple of friends it would be alright to let loose, but if it is a very important meal with the president or a date's family proper table manners are necessary. • 18. News Commentary On Crime And The Media Lastly, the dramatization by news programs today produces a glamorization of crime. News stories on crimes are extremely popular due to the fact that audiences' remember bad news much easier than good news. Take history for example, much of history is filled with recounts of gruesome murders, wars, and scandals. An estimated 71 million viewers across the country tune in to their local news station's broadcast (Yanich, 2004, p. 537). It can easily be assumed then that an estimated 71 million people will know the basic details of a crime that their news station is broadcasting. Crimes and their corresponding cases are exceedingly well known by viewers at the time when they are broadcasted; people know the names of the suspects, victims, and the main details of the crime itself. As posited in Yanich's article (2004) on crime and the media, "The media's treatment of and its relationship to crime and justice policy has received much attention."(p. 535). With all of this attention on crimes in the news it is not surprising that in many instances alleged or even convicted criminals are seen as celebrities. These criminals receive ample airtime, and in many situations crimes and criminals that are highly broadcasted in the news are often later turned into big blockbuster movies. Movies such as Psycho, Bonnie and Clyde, and Zodiac are all based upon real life criminals and crimes. Some serial killers even have secret admirers that are obsessed with them. • 22. The New Testament The New Testament The second part of the Christian Bible is the sacred books of the New Testament. It is the recordings of Jesus and his earliest followers' lives and teachings. The New Testament only covers several decades unlike the Old Testament, which covers thousands of years. The earliest manuscript we have containing all the books of the New Testament comes from 300 A.D however it included books that are not in the Bible today (Schenck, 2010, p. 27). "The Council of Carthage in A.D. 397 gave the list official approval, accepting these twenty–seven writings as the New Testament" (Schenck, 2010, p. 28). The New Testament is not a single book written by one man, but, rather, twenty–seven books written in Greek by at least eight different inspired men of God from various places. For these books to even be considered part of the New Testament Scriptures, they had to have been verified that they were the inspired work of an apostle or a prophet. There are at least four different kinds of genres used in the New Testament, possibly more (Schenck, 2010, p. 22). The Gospels which are composed of the first four books, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each of these books contains important events and teachings from Jesus' life on earth. The fifth, the book of Acts reads like a history book with detailed, orderly, accounts of the birth and growth of the early church immediately after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. On the other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and persuades the ones who do not. With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people have become more and more divided on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society that has been completely bombarded with false information is the Presidential Election. In fact, as election day got closer and closer, the most popular stories were derived from false information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters were trying to make an educated decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that was not even true. Some people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But why are people believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone's opinion on something, they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources have been working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do this is by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another way is by making their sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to trustworthy places ("Fake News and the Internet Shell Game"). • 26. The New England 's New World Essay 1 In order to practice religious freedoms, Puritans fled from England to the New World. The New World represented potential and freedoms that were unattainable in England. The New England settlers overcame adversities and created challenges that would go on to change the course of history. When they first arrived, their inexperience was shown through the death of nearly half their colony in the first year. The introduction of the Wampanoag tribe to the New England colony was such a crucial component to their survival and a primary reason they were able to sustain and even increase their population. The New England colony proved to be successful in establishing a necessary relationship with the Wampanoag, thriving through their protestant work ethic, and ultimately creating a stable settlement; however, they failed when it came to maintaining that stable relationship with the Wampanoag, their lack of experience in the New World, and the hypocritical tendencies of their actions. When the Pilgrims first arrived, they were not hesitant about claiming land and getting right to work. Their protestant work ethic ensured that they worked hard because there was a high moral obligation to fulfill ones duty in worldly affairs. Media Convergence The convergence of media, especially the more traditional media sources taking to the internet, has been both a blessing and a curse. The ability to report on anything in the world at a moment's notice has transformed the idea of journalism. The reporters of today are of no resemblance of the reporters of the past. The folks who would spend weeks tracking down information and sources for a story now spend moments at a laptop accomplishing what they consider to be the same thing. This has caused the current news media to have issues with both integrity and accuracy. In the past, reporters would spend ample amounts of time gathering information, forming their thoughts, and writing the article. Even with the amount of time they spent on this process, there was even more time allotted for checking and double checking their facts to ensure the accuracy and morality of the story. • 36. The New World After settlement of "The New World" by the English in the early 17th century, there was a surge of Englishmen hoping to strike rich, escape the religious government of England, or start a new life with their family. Specific reasons for leaving England had its respective colonies to travel to. For this reason, the northern New England colonies and the southern colonies like Virginia and Maryland in the Chesapeake bay area started to establish ways of life that began to develop very different lifestyles. The reasoning behind the foundation of each colony is what created such a substantial amount of difference between two areas of English settlement. Following the defeat of the Spanish armada, England finally had the power to venture out to the Americas after hearing about a century's worth of Spanish success in that region themselves. Single Englishmen in search of wealth began to sail to America, and did not find the gold they were searching for. It was not until the success from the crop tobacco, did anyone in Virginia prosper. This set the stage for a huge colony with an economy relying on large plantations of this new staple crop. The many who sought out the Massachusetts bay colony in New England were likely not going to strike rich on a plantation, but to either escape the English Church, or to start a new life for their family. The reason I say sometimes must do with the fact that not all news is trustworthy. Fake news is seen very often and can be misinterpreted by many people. Well, what is fake news? I believe fake news is information that is false and just out there to get attention to it. Behind fake news comes fake ideas, most people's opinions on social media, and false predictions or sayings. Nowadays, anything could be considered as news but I think it's important to identify the real news from the fake ones. That way whatever anyone hears or sees will be reliable. According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Tan says, "Fake ideas are more subtly dangerous than fake facts." I agree with this statement because facts are facts and ideas can be changed several times. When it comes to ideas, good or bad, some go beyond our expectations that we question ourselves, "Will it happen?" or "Will it work?". Anyone can come up with an idea and expose what they created to the whole world. The Philippine Daily Inquirer states, "... they exaggerate an idea and twist its logic beyond recognition." In fake news any nonsense is shown and said but, the public can't distinguish was it true and what is false. If the news is about political issues or relates to something about the government, it should be accurate. The article Real Confusion about Fake News, Kappan explains, "At present, we worry that ... • 60. New Australia And New Zealand New Zealand is more than just a beautiful country, it is an investment opportunity waiting to happen. The land is filled with natural beauty and can be seen even in the big cities. New Zealand preserves the countryside because they know how important it is to be close to nature. The government is very forward thinking. New Zealand's economy is growing and business opportunities are everywhere. The growing free market has increased development in many sectors of business within New Zealand. History About 1000 years ago, Polynesian's were the first to inhabit New Zealand. They became the Maori people. Then in 1642 the European explorer, Abel Janszoon Tasman, sailed to the island. Unfortunately his arrival brought about violence and Abel Janszoon Tasman left to return home shortly after the violence erupted. In 1769 two European captains land in New Zealand thus bringing with them muskets that start a war between waring Maori tribes. In 1840 some of the tribe leaders and the British Crown signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which brought the country under British control and gave the Maori equal rights as the British citizens. On April 21, 2017, a comparison was made between two news channels, PBS news hour at 6:00 p.m. and Fox news program at 10:00 p.m. on channel 2. Although both news channels give out reports on current events, there are some key differences between them PBS news hour gives more information and in depth reports about events happening around the world while fox news gives more of an outlook on local events around the bay area with a few around the world reports. PBS is supported and funded by the viewers, and others, which leads them to have zero commercials, which can have a viewer stay more interested in without being distracted by commercials. The PBS anchor was one woman with little to no makeup on, and dressed more conservative, while on the fox news there were two anchors, a man and a woman dressed more professional with a suit and the woman wearing a little more revealing dress. When delivering the news, PBS has their stories last approximately ten minutes and for this specific day, they focused more about France and their presidential election while the fox news touched the surface on France but talked about a shooting that occurred over there. The fox news lacked detailed stories because jumped to recent events rather quickly. For example, Fox talked about wall street, the weather, France, tragic events and deaths, for less than 10 minutes each, making it hard to understand the importance of each event. While the anchors from Fox would communicate with a third person located in another area to give their reports, the PBS anchor gives a more intimate connection with her reports, by showing the events that are occurring then talking about them right after, she would also give interviews with people one on one, like she did with the united nation security general. The news being distributed in different ways, the Fox news hold a more emotional appeal to their viewers because the audience who watch fox news are from around the area and are familiar with the events that occur. The Fox news give the stories and weather updates that the local viewers need to know because it has a relevant purpose to their lives, compared to the PBS news, that gives educational but irrelevant news because their news does not provide current issues that can affect the viewer's life. The PBS news gives an appeal to facts rather than an emotional appeal because it states facts that happen around the world but not about close events that can connect to the viewer personally. If not exchanging information on the current issues, then there is the recap of what has transpired. This thus is the critical role played by the news industry collectively known as journalism. All over the world, the media has played a great role in making sure that the masses are up to date with what is happening. All the stakeholders work day and night to ensure the same. The document is an evaluation of the same with the stand that there is no objectivity as far as the News is concerned. Evidence from various readings will be used to support this stand. In the news industry, various stakeholders will stick to the argument that objective Journalism is what has always been practiced. Biases or even pressures from the various parties and stakeholders in the industry are claims that will be strongly refuted. Just like in any other profession, those in support of the argument will attest to the thorough training undertaken by those who attend institutions on journalism and news industry to maintain the standards of the same, the top most aspect being objectivity. Anybody in the industry is taught to strive and be objective in their work which involves the three aspects of balance, depersonalization and accuracy. Through his book, McNair (2009) supports this argument on objectivity in the news where his take is that the concept of the same is ingrained in impartiality. There are the technical and formal characteristics in Journalism which make it believable as a source of information. In England, for example, there is the perceived truth and legitimacy quotient in broadcast journalism founded on the assertion of there being impartiality (McNair, 2009). ... In order to understand this theme throughout the New Testament it has to be through the scope of the culture that Jesus was brought in and in of each section of the New Testament. Jesus came a time when the Jewish culture was prospering, but also under pressure from the Roman Empire. The Gospel's tell of the story of Jesus and how he proved to be the Messiah. Then, the epistles further emphasize the importance of Jesus Messiah and how He has brought salvation to all of humanity. Because Jesus is the center of the New Testament He also should be the center of our lives and not treated as a moralistic therapeutic deity. Jesus came into this world as a common Jewish citizen of Rome. Jesus performed most of His signs and miracles in the rural regions populated by the Jewish community. He avoided Jerusalem because of the lessons that He taught the people. The high priests did not enter these rural communities because they were unsafe in them. Jesus chose twelve disciples to follow Him for two reasons. He needed someone to continue on the work when He left and also to symbolize the twelve tribes of Judah. Jesus is part of the Davidic line of kings, so He then exemplifies the King of the Jews. Jesus proclaiming that He is the King of Jews also resonates the idea that He is the Messiah. With the covenant be promised, it meant that there would be drastic changes that would take place. Mainly the New Covenant would signify the end of how God historically dealt with his people. The language used in this text is very important. Throughout the section, the Lord makes many "I will" statements, especially in verse 33. All of these "I will" statements are God acting in sovereign grace. The first "I will" statement is "I will make", the hebrew word for this statement is "Karath (Kaw–rath)" which actually means "to cut, destroy or consume; which is specific to covenant." While this definition doesn't initially make sense, it does once in context. The word Karath is only used when talking about a blood sacrifice for a covenant. It is specifically talking about ... In 1883 "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus was written about the Statue of Liberty and welcoming immigrants from all over the world. Because it is a Petrarchan sonnet, it has two parts to it: an opening eight line section, which describes the statue, followed by the six line section, which is the monologue in which the statue is imagined to speak. In the second part of the poem, lines 9 though 14, the statue is talking to all the immigrants. Austen writes, ""[...] cries she with silent lips. Give me your tired [...] masses"" (ll. 10–11). Because of the personal pronoun "she" one can say, that there's a persona talking which is the statue. Additionally this part seems very emotional. The pronoun "our" used in line 3, "Here at our sea–washed [...]," shows that the addressee is more or less implied in the first part of the poem, where as it is clear in the second part: "your" (line 12) refers to the immigrants. • 74. The Pros And Cons Of Fake News The Internet and social media has become a great way for people to get news, but it has also become a way for rumors, scams, and false political stories to spread. These things have all become classified as 'fake news.' Fake news started with the internet, and it has evolved through social media to become a real problem. People are being tricked by fake news into giving up personal information or being led to believe in false rumors about people or politics. Fake news has become such a ubiquitous idea that even the President of the United States has started calling entire news companies 'fake news.' This trend of calling entire news outlets fake has made it difficult to understand what is truly made–up news, and what is news that simply stretches the truth for their own benefit or to support a political side. Fake news has become a 21st century threat because of how it can falsely influence people to support one side of an argument. So, what is 'fake news?' According to Merriam–Webster, fake news is defined as fake ("false, counterfeit") news ("material reported in a newspaper or news periodical or on a newscast"). "But the definition is often expanded to include websites that circulate distorted, decontextualized or dubious information through – for example – clicking baiting headlines that don't reflect the facts of the story, or undeclared bias" (Hunt). Roosevelt, commonly referred to as FDR, is without a doubt one of these leaders. FDR made new laws, put forth many ideas, and raised the public's morale before, during, and after WWII. He affected America in such a way that he brought us out of the slum of Great Depression. Even though Franklin D. By the end of 1937, about 2 million people were out of work and America entered a small recession. Even though Roosevelt made a mistake by cutting spending, he was still an active and hard working president. A presidents rating is based on their first 100 days in office and whether or not they used it efficiently. FDR's first 100 days are arguably the best. He is the gold standard when it comes to getting things done that need to be done. His first 100 days were focused on the need for immediate change. In his State of the Union Message in 1935, he stated that "throughout the world, change is the order of the day" (Doc H) explaining to his fellow Americans that things will get better, that he is going to rebuild America. He provided people of the nation with hope, something many had lost during the Great Depression. During his first 100 days, congress passed 15 major acts that helped control and mitigate the economic crisis. The programs that he provided in his new deal helped millions of people get a job. In a piece of artwork FDR is depicted standing over a troubled man; Roosevelt is helping this man by providing a wide array of jobs that can cater to his skill set (Doc D). The introduction and signing of the TPPA will introduce the process of litigation to New Zealand businesses and more worrying, the New Zealand government. Under the terms of the TPPA American based corporations that conduct business in New Zealand can sue the New Zealand government for any law that is implemented that may directly or indirectly hinder their profits. Litigation will take place in an offshore tribunal court, which is usually provided and ruled by the World Bank's Investment Dispute Centre (ICSID). All FTA's are usually settled by the WTO in a structured, quasi–judicial court, however, the TPPA is assessed as an investment and the ICSID has a court system that has little case precedent and inconsistent verdicts generally favoring the investor rather than the nation's government. If the litigation process favors the investor, the country's taxpayers burdens the litigation costs and extremely large settlement (largest award in favor of the investor was $1.7 billion, Occidental Petroleum against Ecuador) (Lopez 1). I know a burden of this magnitude would supersede the New Zealand taxpayer's benefits of the TPPA; this is a term that needs to be renegotiated.
