Writing High School Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Writing High School Essays" might seem deceptively
simple, as it revolves around a topic many consider familiar. However, delving into the intricacies
of this theme reveals a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not in the lack of information but
in navigating the fine line between being informative and engaging.
To start, one must grapple with the challenge of making the content relatable to a diverse
audience, considering the varying levels of experience and understanding among high school
students. Balancing the need for simplicity with the aspiration for depth can be a formidable
task. Additionally, the writer must resist the temptation to succumb to clichГ©s and
oversimplifications that may undermine the essay's credibility.
Furthermore, addressing the dynamic nature of high school education adds another layer of
complexity. Educational trends, teaching methodologies, and assessment criteria are subject to
change, requiring the writer to stay current with the latest developments. The essay should not
only encapsulate timeless advice but also incorporate insights that resonate with contemporary
high school students.
The challenge also extends to striking a harmonious chord between providing practical guidance
and fostering critical thinking. The writer needs to encourage self-expression and creativity while
offering concrete strategies for effective essay construction. Achieving this delicate balance
demands a keen understanding of educational psychology and pedagogy.
In essence, composing an essay on "Writing High School Essays" requires navigating through a
maze of educational nuances. It's not merely about assembling words on paper but about
creating a piece that both instructs and inspires. The writer must traverse the challenging terrain
of educational theories, practical writing tips, and motivational elements, all while tailoring the
content to the specific needs of a high school audience.
In conclusion, the difficulty in crafting an essay on this topic lies in the intricate dance between
simplicity and depth, relevance and timelessness, guidance and empowerment. Successfully
navigating these complexities demands a nuanced approach and a keen awareness of the ever-
evolving landscape of high school education.

The Maltese Falcon Essay
Theater 120C: Final Paper In The Maltese Falcon (1941), Humphrey Bogart plays
Sam Spade, a private eye detective who is lured into the chase for a bird statue by
a mysterious and deceitful woman named Ruth. His objectives are to find the
Maltese Falcon, and discover the murderer of two crimes: the death of his former
partner, Miles Archer, and another man named Thursby. He also wishes to prove his
innocence for the murder of his partner because the police have him as the prime
suspect. Sam approaches these problems by using his street smarts and investigative
skills to follow a trail. Many times, he uses his uncanny ability to read expressions,
words, and actions to see through lies and find the truth. This is evident when Ruth

The Maltese Falcon has significant physical altercations and plenty of shouting.
There is one instance of man vs. self conflict in that Sam loves Brigid, a femme
fatale, but that her various lies, and her selfish nature works against the possibility
of a relationship. At the end of the movie, Brigid begs Sam not to turn her into the
police but he outlines in detail why their relationship would not work: she is his
partner s murderer (1:29:20). This shocking revelation cannot be overlooked
because Sam states he cannot trust her. His knowledge of the crime makes him
vulnerable to being shot in the back by her if they were to be married. He does not
want to play the sap for her. He resolves this conflict by choosing logic over
emotion, and turning in Brigid to the police for the murder of his partner, Miles
Archer. The female portrayal in the film was a femme fatale named Brigid O
Shaughnessy who first appears in the beginning of the movie (03:51) claiming to
be searching for her sister. She appears to fit the damsel in distress archetype
because of her convincing performance in the loss of her sister. However, her lies
begin to unravel and it is ultimately revealed she killed Sam s partner. Brigid is
interesting in that the true extent of her malice (murder) is not revealed until the end
of the movie. The audience can see she is selfish, but not evil until Sam deduces her
crimes. Gender was not an issue in
Meet The Robinsons
Meet the Robinsons, a Disney and Pixar film, has turn out to be one of the most
inspirational movies that I have endlessly watched. Being a children s movie, I
honestly did not expect for it to have such a profound meaning, but you can find the
utmost astounding things where you do not expect to. I am glad I decided to watch
this movie because it has motivated me to let go of the past and keep moving
forward. This movie is about a boy genius, Lewis Robinson, an orphan left by his
mother as an infant. Lewis cannot find a familyto adopt him, but aspires to be a great
inventor. As his inventions continue to fail, and each family turns him down, he
begins to doubt his abilities and his significance. He later decides to invent a device...

Wilbur then decides to take Lewis to see his mother in the past but Lewis decides
it is best to leave things how they are and let it be. Next, before Lewis goes back to
the science fair, he makes sure Goob is awake so he can get the winning catch of
the baseball game. At the science fair, Lewis presents his invention and everyone is
amazed. Seeing his great abilities, the science teacher, Lucille, and her husband,
Bud, wants to adopt him, which they rename him Cornelius. After all the mishaps he
had to go through as a kid, Lewis, now named Cornelius, starts a new life and family
and begins working on new inventions and decides to never give
What Are The Sales Promotion Objectives Of Club Med
1. What are the sales promotion objectives? ( 50 words 1 or 2 objectives )
According to Mahmoud (2017), hotels need to attain their minimum occupancy
levels in order to achieve average sales. By offering Malaysian consumers up to
40% discount, the objective of this promotion is to increase occupancy rate by 5%
during the off peak period of 2014 in the select destinations stated.
2. Do you think it will accomplish its objectives? (Yes/No/Yes and No 2 points 100

No, it was not advertised in the right channel and the duration was too short to

On that year, they did not have the same type of promotion, which might have

Anxiety Disorder
The mental illness I chose to write about is one that my mom suffers from which
would be panic disorder. A panic disorder is a form of an anxiety disorder.
The history of anxiety disorders dates back before medical records were recorded. In
the sixteenth century, anxiety was known as hysteria. Professional had different
opinions on the cause of this disorder, for example, witchcraft, had to do with the
uterus until men were found to have the same condition, the person is a
hypochondriac, and demons were entering the body.
In the eighteenth century panic disorder was known as the nervous illness.
Today we know that panic attacks are a sudden urge of overwhelming fear and anxiety
.
There are many myths that surround panic attacks ... Show more content on

This is so other medical conditions or disorders can be ruled out like substance
abuse as it can mimic panic attacks. Once a person is diagnosed the doctor will
probably order an anti depressant medication and or sedative. The doctor will most
likely recommend that you eat healthier and at the same time every day along with
getting plenty of exercise. He will also recommend that one stays away from street
drugs, alcohol, caffeine, and get a fair amount of sleep. Along with this advice, the
doctor will also recommend that you seek professional help like a psychiatrist. As
mentioned before Aaron Beck is the founder of CBT and this practice is still used
today but is known as talk therapy. Even though there are many types of talk
therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and interpersonal therapy are the ones that
work the best for treating depression and anxiety disorders as the two therapies
work hand in hand. The cognitive behavior therapy focuses on changing one s
negative thought patterns into positive thought patterns, interpersonal therapy
focuses on how you relate to other people, it will assist one in making personal
relationships positive. A self support group can also be effective for one that
suffers from anxiety disorders. Family can also be of help as the person who suffers
from anxiety disorders need all the support they can get. Keeping one s self in a
positive and low stress environment can
The Sacred and Profane in American Beauty Essay
Durkheim s concepts of the sacred and the profane has dominated religious and
social commentary for decades. While these two, inexorably linked, concepts are
most often related with respect to religion, we can apply them to the almost religion
of the American Dream for the purpose of analyzing the lives of Lester and Carolyn
Burnham, Buddy Kane, and Angela Hayes in the film American Beauty. In American
Beauty the experiences of the characters illustrates the dichotomy between the sacred
and profane, the morality associated with the sacred and profane, and the influences
the sacred and profane have on the characters. The sacred and profane are slathered

Her beauty is exceptional and rare, and so she is far from the normal, profane
woman. Her sexual beauty is the source of her sacred status, and is evidenced by
her assertions that she is using her beauty and sexual desirability to advance
herself in society. By the societal ideal, she should be using her sexuality for power,
and so the perception that she is makes her sacred. The fact that she is actually a
virgin is similar to the fact that Buddy is in a failing marriage, the perception by
society is what solidifies the image as sacred, and these two facts are not part of
the images Angela and Buddy project. Buddy is sacred in his success. This is
repeatedly hammered home by the title King of Real Estate. Buddy is enormously
successful in a oh so American job selling real estate. He has a beautiful wife, a
Botox ed smile, and perfect hair. He is the ideal of American success. His failing
marriage and subsequent affair are not even seen as failures in the sacred image.
His motto In order to be successful, one must project an image of success at all
times is the mantra of success obsessed America. A large part of Buddy s sacred
status the the sacred status of the money that he is associated with. Money is a form
of control that grows more powerful as we obtain more money. As Belk and
Wallendorf (1990) state in their article The Sacred Meaning of Money, contemporary

Political Climate In Public Administration
In 1932, in response to the economic depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt,
promised the people a new deal. The new deal was intended to provide much needed
relief, recovery, and reform to the American people, by seeking to stabilize the
economy and provide jobs to those who were suffering. It forced a change in the
structure of American governmentand pushed it to play a bigger role in the financing
of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at the state
and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning,
efficiency measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time,
that management in the U.S., was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the
political approach to public administration.
Political Climate of the 1930s 1950s, an Overview of Public Administration Theories
of Chester Bernard, Luther Gulick, and Robert K. Morton
Introduction
The purpose of this essay is to explore and compare the theoretical perspectives of
theorists Charles E. Lindblom, Chester Bernard and Luther Gulick, and their impact
on the creation and approach to the science of administration. In the early years,
influences from authors Woodrow Wilson, Frank Goodnow, L D White, and F.W.
Willoughby, and their philosophies of public administration helped to reaffirm the
need to separate the political functions and administrative functions of the
government. However, following WWII, the opposition to
Ulcerative Colitis
Introduction: What is Ulcerative Colitis? Just from the name, you can guess that this
disease concerns ulcers. But does this entail anything else? Let us find out in this
article about the disease that still has its causes unverified by the world. Ulcerative
Colitis (UC) is a disease/disorder of the Large intestine. It occurs in the colonand
rectum areas only. When food passes through the Large Intestine, the body s
immune system may mistake the food materials, bacteria, etc as foreign invading
agents and sends White blood cells (WBC) to defend the body. This causes chronic
inflammation and ulceration of the large intestine, which causes severe pain and
discomfort for the patient. This is why this disease falls under the category of
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and is also referred to as an autoimmune disease.
Furthermore, we still don t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are considered as auto immune disorders and both of them successfully fall
under the criteria of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) but they work in different
areas of the body. Crohn s disease can occur in any part of the Gastro Intestinal Tract
(GIT), while Ulcerative Colitis only affects the colon and rectum of the large
intestine. Again, Crohn s Disease can affect all layers of the bowel while Ulcerative
Colitis, can harm only the linings of the colon. These are the major differences
between them. Conclusion
Though Ulcerative Colitis is not a disease that can cause certain death, but it can
lead to the creation of many other which have high mortality rates. Such as, strokes
and colon cancer. We know that there is bleeding when Ulcerative Colitis occurs.
So, during blood clotting, increased amounts of blood clots also form in the brain
causes strokes. Again, the breaking of the mucus layer in the colon can give rise to
cancerous lesions, which develops to colon cancer later
Assistive Technology History
This week we read about the history of assistive technology and assistive
technology. In addition, we read about the reauthorization of IDEA 1997 and how it
changed the individual educational plan (IEP) by requiring that IEP teams consider
assistive technology for all students with IEPs. (Grand Canyon University, n.d.
Lecture 1) Initially, I thought that I had limited experience with assistive technology.
It became clear to me this week through the readings, that many accommodations
and methods I have used in the classroom, are actually a form of assistive
technology. I am speaking of the low tech tools, for examples, pencil grips, paper
holders, sticky notes and reading guide to name a few. (Dell, Newton, Petroff, 2012,
p.6.) In addition,
Analysis Of Lord Of The Flies
In the popular novel, Lord of the Flies, there are many elements to the story that
are not seen when just viewed from the surface. In order to understand these ideas,
we have to dive deeper and really analyze the characters in the story. When you do
this, a very important theme will arise and that is the very different personality
types of the boys on the island. These personality types can be explained using
Freud s psychoanalytic theory of personality. His theory explains that there are three
basic parts of personality; the id, the ego, and the superego. Everyone has a different
combination of these three parts, which makes everyone s personality different. In
the novel, Jack is a character who has a lot of id in his personality.... Show more

He also sees hunting as a need, even though it is not. You could have had everyone
when the shelters were finished. But you had to hunt...You didn t ought to have let
that fire out. You said you d keep the smoke going... (Golding 100). He even goes
out hunting and neglects to tend to the fire, which goes out, inhibiting Ralph from
signaling a passing ship for their rescue. He went hunting and didn t think about
the consequences of his actions. Lastly, Jack ambushes Ralph s campsite in search
of Piggy s glasses because he needs them to make fire. He acted upon his first
savage instinct instead of thinking through a solution that wouldn t hurt Ralph s
group. He could have just asked to borrow the glasses or a stick from Ralph s fire,
but instead he uses violence to hurt Ralph s tribe and take away Piggy s vision.
Jack acts upon impulses and only wants to help himself and doesn t care about
others. He also doesn t think about how his actions could have negative
consequences for him or for others. For these reasons, Jack is a great representation
of the id personality. The second personality typeis the ego. Ralph is a character that
demonstrates a lot of ego. According to Freud, the ego is the rational, pragmatic part
of our personality. It is less primitive than the id and is partly conscious and partly
unconscious. It s what
Writing A Bunch Of Illegitimate Papers
I, one of millions of first year college students, believe that I write bland essays due
to the fact that my high school English teachers failed to teach me how to think
clearly and creatively. For instance, with my twelfth English teacher, Mrs. Tuttle,
there are many cases to which I felt she could ve improved her teachings not only
for me to understand how to write a well developed paper but as well as others
students. First case scenario being how she gave class activities and her teaching
style. She had a way of giving activities based on the feeling of how she felt would be
a good way for us to learn the material versus what we felt would be the best way to
learn the material. These ways included little to no group work. Writinga bunch of
illegitimate papers that would be graded by my peers who had little to no idea of
what right or wrongs they were looking for. Thus for leaving me with an
ambiguous reason to what my writings were lacking or why I never made anything
higher than a C in her class. Another way would be the fact that she lived off the
teaching theory of if one can do it then all can do it . This hands down was the
number reason why I could never write a well thought out, clear and creative paper.
With this method she felt that if Amanda Ho, class valedictorian, could write an
outstanding paper, then the entire Class of 2015 could write one just as well. Never
coming to an understanding that everyone wasn t Amanda Ho, everyone didn t have
the brains

John Rick was a Christian farmer in Salem, Massachusetts, the land of the Puritans.
Since the first Puritans arrival at the New World from England, everything had been
normal and people havd been doing normal things like farming, cooking, preaching,
making candles or going to church. Together, they built a strong Christian
community of hardworking, humble Christ followers. They even found a college
named Harvard to train pastors. John Rick s generation continued to keep those
values and protect the lands. However, there was a dark period of time when the
town was not normal anymore. For some reasons, people in Salem started to believe
that the Devil had come among them. He tempted even people who used to be virtous
Christians and tried... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although almost forty people signed in a petition for Mrs. Nurse, she still ended
up being hanged. Another trial that Rick attended was the trail of George Simpson
, one of Rick s closest friend. Simpson, as honest as Mrs. Nurse, refused to confess
and claimed that he was innocent before God. The moment the judge declare
Simpson s death sentence, Rick was quite surprised. Rick was already quite
unconvinced of Mrs. Nurse s death, and this time he was even more doubtful.
First, George Simpson was a nice and educated minister that helped everyone who
needed help. Until the night Simpson got arrested, Rick saw no non Christian
signs on this friend. Also, Rick knew that Simpson was a muscular man, so it
totally made sense if he could lift a big rock with one hand. Nevertheless, all court
personnels concluded that Simpson could not have done that without Satan s help.
For some reasons, Rick told himself that he could not do anything about it. It
became truly serious to John Rick when one afternoon, a court official and other
ten men came to his house to arrest his wife. Mrs. Rick was similar to Mrs. Nurse,
a virtous and pious Christian woman. John Rick had nearly gone mad; half of his
mind told him if his wife was indeed innocent, she would be released. The other half
reminded him of Mrs. Nurse s and Simpson s deaths. That night, he went around in
the town to convince people to sign in a petition for his wife. By the

Block Nested Loop Join
1. Abstract:
The project deals with the Block Nested loop Join operation on given relations. In the
project, we used Adventure Works databaseto demonstrate the results. We observed
the execution of the block nested loop Join. The project also takes into account the
technical details of each relations, for example, what is the tuple size of the
relation, what are the total number of blocks allocated for each relation, what are
the number of tuples per block and so on. The algorithm for the Join are detailed
and explored. Also for the algorithm, the best, the worst case is being elaborated.
Further, even the available memory size, allocated memory size, are taken into
account while retrieving the tuples from the relations. The number of Block
transfers, and number of I/O seeks required for each relation are calculated. Finally,
these time of each relation in the algorithm are compared to determine the role of
tuples in Block Nested loop join.
2. Implementation:
For the implementation purpose, Adventure Works is used as the database and Java
is used for Programming. Net Beans is used for Java programming and

The second part of the definition, low in public esteem, creates an area of contrast
for the two women. Her letters all dealt with the more negotiable stuff of suspicion
(JACKSON 467), the letters she writes are all assumptions, lacking evidence and
facts for such accusations. Adela Strangeworth s acts were so cruel in the public s
eye that they destroy her rose bushes. Emily s public, however, does not maintain
her at a low esteem. They actually idolize her as a fallen monument (FAULKNER

discover the murder of Homer Barron, the town consistently feels bad for Emily.
By reexamining the definition provided by the American Heritage Dictionary
Adela s actions are much move evil in her public s esteem then Emily s public was.
Achieving control is the main motive behind Adela Strangeworth and Emily
Grierson s subconscious . Yet each woman sought control in extremely different
ways. Adela sought to prevent her whole town from committing possible acts of
evil. She disguised herself by writing letters anonymously, this gives her the
freedom to be unknown, yet still maintain her control over her little town. Emily
Grierson s situation was different. She sought control over her own life, which her
town had denied her of. They starved her of her only love, Homer Barron. The town
felt that it was improper of noblesse oblige to be engaged to
My Career At Loyola University Chicago
After a long eight months, I can now look back and say that I completed my first
year of college. It is safe to say that during that time, life was not the same as it was
in high school. Many adjustments, such as sacrifices and prioritizing had to be
made. However, I think that those adjustments had made me a more accountable
student, but more ultimately a better rounded human being. As I am about to enter
my second year at Loyola, I am ready to tackle whatever challenges I may face. I
personally feel that I am still a planet s distance away from figuring out who I
really am, but I think that as long as I can keep being the best person I can be, I can
accomplish what I want to do during my post collegiate career. In this essay, I will
talk about my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago, emphasizing my
field of study, college experience, and my career goals including the route I plan to
take to get there. My current major at Loyola Chicago is Health Systems
Management otherwise known as H.S.M. which as it implies, revolves around the
health care industry. I was originally an Economics major with the Liberal Arts and
Sciences school. At the time, I thought that Economics was the major for me
because I really enjoyed the topic when I was in high school, and I was also into
business. I did well in both semesters; however, I was also interested in learning
about the health care business. I did not know that Loyola had a major focusing on
health care until I talked
Computer Engineering Personal Statement
The fast moving technologies have revolutionized the world from the perspectives of
reading, communication, entertainment, business, and so on. The desire to become
part of the revolution drove me to choose software engineering as my major in the
college. I am so obsessed with programming that I can sit in front of a computer
coding for an entire day. Logical problem solving, which is readily visible in
computing and programming, has motivated me to continue graduate studies in
computer science(basically the major name here, it could be computer engineering
or others depending on the program you will apply ). Especially, I m very
interested in Networking and Human Computer Interaction, which are the
representative of the speed of development in computer science and fundamental to
achieve my career goal build software that can actually help people and easy to
cope with. I want to help people like my grandparents to learn how to use the
internet, to be able to talk to people they love when they are far away; I want to
give the only child an e friend when they are alone; I want to help to clean our
internet world and stop bullying.
I enjoy applying programming to my studies and daily life in the sense that
programming enhances my working efficiency and helps me solve challenging
problems. In my freshman year, I designed an application to calculate the data from
circuit experiments. Manual calculation of the tremendous amount of data readily
leads to mistakes and in turn

Leadership-Evolving Challenges
Leadership Evolving Challenges and Demands
In many ways, leadership to me is an art form. There are very specific challenges
and demands an artist will faces when completing a single piece of work. Artists will
use their skills, abilities, creative processes, behaviors, and tools to meet their
challenges and demands, drawing from past experiences, learning and input from
trusted sources, time tested and proven techniques, and quite possibly a little
innovation to overcome adversity and produce something which is amazing and
often times can be closely replicated but never repeated. In essence, the results are
unique because the situation is unique. A good leader in today s world works in

students in universities are looking to see if it is still worth buying physical
textbooks or to utilize digital formats like e textbooks as a means of efficiency or

format is more effective, we need to study the different formats and see what are the
strengths and weaknesses found in the two different formats. This paper will examine
research done by multiple researchers and use their research to help find the format
that best helps students to study and retain material learned from their textbook
Defining E textbooks and Traditional Textbooks
E textbooks are often defined as texts that are able to be accessed on electronic
devices. Most research has defined them as texts that are digital and accessed via
electronic screens (Rockinson Szapkiw, Courdoff, Carter, Bennett, 2012), in which
there two formats that exist. The first format is the page fidelity e textbook and
second is the reflowable digital e textbook. The page fidelity e textbook is a simple
scanned picture of the print version of a book, which can usually come in the form
of a PDF (Rockinson Szapkiw, Courdoff, Carter, Bennett, 2012). The page fidelity e

Effects of conflict of interest to the organization
This situation may seem totally unrelated but in a great way affects the case at
hand. The decisions made by CyberTech will in a way not be genuine due to the
influence of the presence of the suspects in another case with them. Let s take an
example that the OPM breach suspects were found guilty in the case which
subsequently led to termination of their job and charging by the court. This would
lead them not being able to facilitate the other case they have with CyberTech. As a
result, it would suppress them financially or even if arrested they would not be able
to represent themselves in order to proceed with the other mentioned case. This is a
conflict of interest which comes with lame outcomes of a bad image to the
organization. As well known, a bad image for an organization greatly affects how it
operates and hence how it relates to its customers. The basic factor that prospective
clients look upon before proposing to work with a certain organization is the image of
the organization (Thompson,
There Will Be Blood
There Will be Blood was released in 2007. The director and the screenwriter was
by Paul Thomas Anderson. Some of the tremendous actors in this movie are,
Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano, and Dillon Freasier. I would say this movie really
set the tone for the American dream, even though it wasn t really thought of during
the movie s time period. It really shows hard work, greed, lust, and trickery.
Overall this is a good movie, with a very slow start. It is filled with drama,
mystery, and action. If you are for those kinds of films this movie is right up your
alley. This movie is more of an action, drama, and mystery film. You never know
what will be happening next. The film is filled with small hints, to where you have to
pay very close attention
Automation in Transportation Fare Collection Essay
INTRODUCTION
Automation in transportation fare collection represents a major technological
advancement in the history of urban public transportation. The move toward changes
in the technology and methodology of fare collection has indeed become the order of
the day as older and larger transit systems search for more efficient collection, better
revenue control and effective marketing technique (Jones, 1985).
The purpose of this project is to determine the feasibility of implementing different
automated technologies in transportation system within Metro Manila areas and other
cities in the Philippines to assist in the collection and accounting of passenger fares.
The study includes the following objectives:

While in rural and provincial areas simple paper and pencil method may be used.
While this simpler methods may require less infrastructure i.e. computers,
communications equipment etc, they may actually be less efficient, requiring more
time for personnel to consolidate data, invoice for services, and complete other data
management requirements.
Some larger modernized transit systems are already using automated/electronic
methods of collecting fares, tracking ridership information, and invoicing companies
for rides. Electronic method has two basic parameters for fare payments, these are
(1) Payment options i.e. single ride, multi ride, period pass, stored value, and post
payment; and (2) Payment media i.e. cash, token, paper ticket, magnetic ticket, smart
card, credit card, debit /ATM card, and transit vouchers. In addition to this method,
some cities have also implemented software solutions to automate their data
collection, analysis and reporting in as much as possible. The Breeze by MARTA
used in North America and The Client Ridership Referral and Financial Tracking
(CRRAFT) system used in Mexico are some of the examples of this type of software
solutions aside from the customised software applications and commercial off the

Research Paper On Dante s Inferno

Dante
A Poets Rage In The Inferno by Dante Alighieri, Dante is led down through hell by
the ancient poet Virgil. As he descends through hell he progressively sees people
who committed worse and worse crimes. Because of this we are able to see into the
mind of Dante; and therefore, understand his thoughts on the volatility of the crimes
committed. Because of unfortunate events in Dante s life, Dante is much too harsh
on his ranking of moral failures. This is shown in him referencing people from his
own life that Dante feels deserves to go to hell. Before even getting to the circles of
hell, Dante passes the gates of hell. He sees men and women that took no part in
conflicts in and were only in life for themselves. Here Dante sees a pope from his
life by the name of Celestine V. Dante recognizes several, among them POPE
CELESTINE V. (Dante 41) Celestine was a pope that was elected in July of 1294
and abandoned the papal leadership just 5 months later to escape the limelight. By
placing this pope in hell, you can infer that Dante thinks that by abdicating the role
of pope Celestine let down the Catholic church. You can see Dante s anger in this act
because he sends a very holy man to hell for such a small offence. ... Show more

Adultery is the main sin of lust. Here Dante places Palo and Francesca. ...those two

older brother Giovani. According to the footnotes after the canto Francesca fell in
love with Palo and the two had an affair for several years. When Giovani walked in
on them he murdered both of them in a fit of rage. Dante places the Francesca and
Palo in hell and makes no mention of Giovani being in hell later in the canto for
violence. Even though by all accounts a double murder is a much worse crime than
simply being unfaithful in
Case Study Of Jane s 14-Year-Under Canadian Law
Jane is a 14 year old Canadian. She is not double subject to any nations nor is she a
United States citizen. Since Jane s parent s divorce six years ago, Jane has lived
with her father John in Quebec amid the school term and with her mother Anne in
New York amid school breaks and holidays. Under Canadian law, both John and
Anne retain full custodial and parental rights following their divorce. During a
school break when Jane was living in New York, Jane telephoned her father in
Toronto requesting that she be permitted to come back to Quebec early in light of
the fact that she and her mother were not getting along. Jane s father advised her to
attempt to cope with her mother and stay in New York until the end of the school
break. Two days
Woman s Rights Convention By Elizabeth Caady Argument
There are many comparable similarities and differences between Declaration of
Sentiments of the Seneca Falls Woman s Rights Convention by Elizabeth Cady
Stanton and Letter to John Adams by Abigail Adams. These similarities involve their
purpose for writing the messages and the power that needs to be given to women. As
for differences, both women appeal to their audiences in different fashions and the
impact that their statements made on the future of women s rights. Despite the
differences in their writings, both women will make a lasting impression in the
growing fight for women s rights. In Elizabeth Cady Stantons Declaration of

Abigail Adams had even warned her husband that if women did not receive equal
rights within the constitution, the founding fathers would have to fear rebellion. This
seemed to hold true over a hundred years later when the women s suffrage movement
increased rapidly and showed the nation that women deserved the right to vote
through protests and marches. Despite these strong similarities, there are also a few
differences that separate their writings. For example, both women wrote in different
styles. While Elizabeth Cady Stanton wrote in a logical appeal, Abigail Adams
appealed to her husband with emotion. Unfortunately, Abigail Adams did not leave a
large impression on the women s rights movement. Although letters like hers were
what eventually inspired a young E. C. Stanton. Although Adams did not succeed in
bringing women s rights, Stanton left a lasting impression that won t be forgotten.
The women s rights movement has been influenced by the words and writings of
many. Two influential people in the movement include Elizabeth Cady Stanton and
Abigail Adams. These women paved the way for equality across the United States of
America. Without these women speaking out and advocating in their different ways,
equality in the country would be much farther
Leonardo Da Vinci s Influence On The Modern World
Leonardo Da vinci invented many things, some things are almost creepy close to
what we have today. Leonardo Da Vinci made things like helicopters and things
similar to tanks. He a machine gun crossbow. Leonardo Da Vinci Made giant
crossbows, this crossbow was made to scare the enemy.
This Crossbow would be 27 yards across. This Giant crossbow could shoot boulders
or possibly explosives. Leonardo Da Vinci also made an idea that would later
become the parachute Leonardo never tested this idea, and no one else ever tested
this idea because they were too scared. Because it had a wooden part and it was
weird in shape. Though a daredevil by the name Adrian Nichols made a prototype and
tested it in the 200 s. The daredevil Adrian Nichols said that he thought it had a
smoother ride than the modern parachute. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This vehicle was round and almost looked like a turtle shell, and it had a metal

have been a pacifist. Another thing Leonardo Da Vinci made was a scuba diving
outfit.
His purpose for this was to attack enemy ships from underneath. Leonardo Da Vinci
s scuba diving outfit had tubes going to the surface for air. Leonardo Da Vinci s
scuba diving outfit had an inflation feature which could lower the person deeper or
make them go higher to the surface more easily.
Leonardo Da Vinci s scuba diving outfit had one more feature. The Scuba diving
outfit had a pouch that you could urinate in. Leonardo Da Vinci s idea of the
helicopter was a human powered machine, one thing that Leonardo did not
understand though is that much more energy than a human could make would be
required to make a device fly. Leonardo Da Vinci knew that when you make
something spin really fast it would create significant friction so Leonardo made a

Ancient Egyptian Religion And Religious Beliefs
Religious beliefs shaped every part of ancient civilizations. Cultures heavily based
their daily lives, government, and agriculture on religious beliefs. Most people groups
were polytheist and adhered to traditional obedience to multiple gods. Egyptians
culture prided themselves on ritualistic tradition. The things of the past remained the
backbone throughout their cultures life. They philosophy depended on a changeless
universe, which resulted in no value in change. Institutional traditions and authority
were the cornerstone to Egyptian life. Ancient Egyptdemonstrated their traditional
religious beliefs through a divine kingship, their understanding of nature, and their
sense of afterlife. Egyptians lived in constant fear of their gods, not knowing when
they might provoke their deity s anger. The Egyptians viewed their king as divine,
which means their ruler was part godand had absolute dominion over the land.
Since Egypt was heavily based on religious tradition, having a divine monarch was a
direct connection to the gods. The Egyptians saw a rule by a god king as the only
acceptable political arrangement: it was in harmony with the order of the universe
and it brought justice and security to the nation. (Perry 14) The Pharaoh was the
human voice of the gods. He expressed the will of the heavens and oversaw justice in
the land. Opposed to other cultures at the time, Egyptians believed their king was god
and supreme overlord. This gave them stability in their monarchy
Cn Asia Corporation Berhad Financial Statement
Based on the graph above, inventory holding period of CN Asia Corporation
Berhad slightly increased from 91.28 days in 2014 to 98.97 days in 2015 and drop
rapidly to 73.64 days in 2016. Thus, it shows that year 2016 is better than year 2014
and 2015 as the year of 2016 has the lowest inventory holding period ratio. It indicates
that the company holds their inventoryfor 73.64 days before selling it to the
customers. So, it demonstrates that CN Asia Corporation Berhad managed their
inventories efficiently in year 2016 compared to year 2014 and year 2015.
Furthermore, it depicted that the company has fast growth of sales in 2016 compared
to other years, which is RM 18,745,524.
To be detailed, the reason why CN Asia Corporation Berhad took almost 91 98
days to sell their stock in year 2014 and 2015 is due to the overspending of raw
material and overstock of work in progress inventory by the company. As shown in
the notes of financial statement, the company spend almost RM 215,208 in 2014
more than 2015 and 2016. This has forced the company to store non saleable
inventory. So, the longer the company keep the stock, the longer the company s cash

cash sales rather than credit sales in the year of 2016 in order to get fund to

Activist Movement In The Civil Rights Movement
An activist is a person who campaigns for some kind of social change. Being an
activist means being involved in a protest or a political or social cause. Many
different activist groups exist around the world, fighting for different beliefs and
reasons. Protesting, or being an activist against racial inequality has always existed in
America. Activism for racial equality in America was widely known with rights for
African Americans after slavery but since then diversity has increased over time. Not
only is there still activism for racial equality among African Americans, but also for
many other races that have made America their home, that discrimination. Many
things since the Civil Rights Movement have also changed, like technology and the
use of social media and how it collaborates with activism. Activism is a big part of
American History. One of the most known activist movements in American history is
the Civil Rights Movement. The movement was a non violent protestagainst racial
segregation and discrimination of African Americans. The Civil Rights Movement
began in 1954 and ended in 1968 and was led by Martin Luther King. The Civil
Rights Movement commenced with the liberation of slavery. The movement included
peaceful protests and speeches. It angered White people to think that African
Americans deserved the same rights as them because they wanted to be superior race
and thought of the Blacks as animals.
Another group fighting for racial equality for Black People is
The Influence Of Past American Women Writers
The Influence of Past American Women Writers Amy Tan, Julia Ward Howe, and
Judith Sargent Murray are some of the noble women whom have helped shape the
lives of their fellow gender with the talents of their writing. Much of their writing
became increasingly influential years after it was written. Their literature allows
today s modern readers to reflect on the humanity and the treatment of women,
understand history s past, and use it as an example to continue spreading the
vision of the equality of women today. Tan was known for her willingness to stand
up for herself against her mother, in pursuits to find her own dreams versus those
of what her mother had laid out for her (Showalter, Ch. Amy Tan ). Howe was a
poet, and founder of the nation s Battle Hymn of the Republic , she was known for
her activism of women s rights, abolition, and world peace (Showalter, Ch. Julia
Ward Howe ). Lastly, Murray was known as the first womanof American letters,
speaking for women s rights after the American Revolutionary War (Showalter, Ch.
Judith Sargent Murray ). Tan, Howe, and Murray have proved to be influential not
only in America s historic past, but inspiration leading to today and the future as
well. These women are excellent examples to learn from in taking ownership of their
women s rights and the equalities we shall have, in our still unequal world. Amy Tan

Stoppard s Rosencrantz Essay
Transformation
In Stoppard s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead, the composer s intention is to
show part of the story of Hamlet out of the eyes of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. It
Is different to Shakespeare s Hamlet because of a number of reasons.
A writer will sometimes create a character who is put into the story to provide a
contrast or comparison with the main character. Such a character may be placed into
a similar situation as the main character, but react differently, in order to show how
much better or worse he/she is than the main character. This kind of character is
called a foil. In the story Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead Stoppard uses

But as Stoppard moves these minor characters to centre stage, their namelessness
becomes a critique of identity.
Stoppard allows the audience to function as critics during the play rather than
afterward. By transplanting characters from a play we already know, Stoppard
enlarges our perspective. We can see beyond the limited view of the characters of
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and critique their situation in the context of our own
lives. We can see both heads and tails.
Stoppard didn t take the serious issues of Hamlet quite so seriously. Stoppard s
transformation is more comical and humerous without as many important issues as
Hamlet. It generally sticks to a simple but clever storyline.
The impact of society and cultural influence upon a text s composition is deep and
may be viewed as reflective of the period in which it was created. Separated by
several centuries of social change, turmoil, and general upheaval, the values presented
within both these texts are hardly matching.
The decline in recognition of the supernatural as an influence upon humans may be
viewed as (at least partly) responsible for the change in attitudes displayed between
the original and transformed work.
Death is the driving force for the events of the text in Hamlet. Hamlet may be read
as a revenge tragedy and in this, the consideration of the reader is drawn to the
plight of Hamlet. He doesn t despair for his temporal loss, although that may be part
of it.

Due to this they have lost what their culture was about, along with hundreds of lives.

Alcohol and drugs are also the number one way to cope for the Cherokee who have

Difference Between Teenagers And Modern Teenagers
Compare and contrast the lifestyles of Thai teenagers, past and present
Today s teenagers are different from the past teenagers because of the time and the
prosperity of the technology. In the past, there was little equipment and technology,
so they had to try their best to do the routines. But nowadays, I think that technology
makes routines easier than before like listening to music, games and photography.
The difference between listening to the music in the past and current. In the past,
about the year 1990, Thailand was not very technologically advanced. Equipment
related to electronics was expensive. If they wanted to collect the songs of their
famous singer, they needed to buy a cassette of the album. Even though they only
liked one song, they had to buy the whole album. Each tape was expensive. When a
singer made a new song, they needed to buy more. And if they brought only the tape,
they could not listen to the music. They needed a tape player that came with a radio
which was more expensive than tape. If teens did not have enough money to buy,
they have to call the dj on the radio so that they can play it through the radio.
Currently they just use the phone and listen to music. If they like that music, they can
buy only that song. Or they can listen to music on the Internet as YouTube or 4share,
and they can download it when there is no Internet without paying.
The current game is more realistic than old games. In the 1990s. The games had
been designed for the fun of the players. The story of the games did not focus
much. The story was to help the girl or queen to return to the peace like Mario, etc.
Also, players tried to play the game to finish and watch the scene. The games were
2D image with a side view. At present, this view is greatly reduced. The games in the
past were not focused on the story, but the games were very focused on gameplay.
Old games were fun and also very difficult. To find people through was very difficult.
Sometimes, they brought a summary of the game to pass the game. But with the
technology of the past, they could not be create games like reality, so they created
the game character as in the cartoon. There were not many effects in the game. They
made the games with almost no
High Social Circle and Waltz During the Eighteenth Century
Scandalous! Sinful! Outrageous! Believe it or not, these are all adjectives used to
describe the waltz in the eighteenth century. Beginning within the Alps of Austria, the
intoxicating spins and steps of the waltz were born. Not long after, however, the
waltz took Europe by storm. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a German writer, even
stated in 1765 that people felt obliged to learn [the waltz], for without knowledge of
this dance, it was impossible to enter the highest social circles. Although this partner
danceis now practically a necessity in social ballroom events, the rise of the waltz
would prove to be a difficult journey. Controversy over this popular social activity
was not lacking from political and religious leaders. From scandalous to classy, the
waltz is a famous traditional type of ballroom dancing that has greatly influenced
many dance styles around the world.
While the waltz has been around for hundreds of years, the steps used today are
actually not a part of the original dance. It is generally accepted that the exact
origins of the waltz are fairly obscure. However, it is theorized that the waltz was a
product of evolution from a dance called the ländler (Britannica). As like various
other dances, the waltz has evolved through the ländler along with cultural and
social advances. Created in the countryside of Austria, the ländler was a type of
couple s dance that became widely popular in the late eighteenth century when
composers began creating music for
King Hammurabi And Nebuchadnezzar
Famous Rulers of Mesopotamia There were many great rulers in Mesopotamia
like king Hammurabi and Nebuchadnezzar. There were rulers from 330 B.C. all the
way up to 2700 B.C. These rulers ruled in hard times, fought many wars and took
over vast lands. Their people loved them and bowed down to them in awe of their
greatness and power. The king Gilgamesh for example was the last king of
Mesopotamia. He had the first walled city in Mesopotamia and became the hero of
many legends. He ruled the city of Uruk and became known as king of the
underworld . There are many stories about king Gilgamesh and there are 5 surviving

He is also world wide known because of his many and great accomplishments when
he ruled. He ruled from 634 to 562 B.C. He was said to be the greatest king of

Medes and the Babylonians. Nebakanezer is said to be the one who built the
hanging gardens for his wife. Which are now known to be one of the 7 wonders of
the world. Since Babylon was such a dry and desert place he thought that his wife
would want something to remind her home in Persia. Babylon became the greatest
known city, and Nebakanezer the greatest leader and known warrior in the world.
Nebakanezer defeated the Egyptians and their allies, the Palestinians, and the
region of Syria. He also controlled the trade routes in Mesopotamia from the Persian
Gulf to the Mediterranean sea. In his 43 years of leadership he made most of his
time employing and working an army of slaves to death to build walls around the
city. He made a city that not only was vast in it s length but in it s knowledge arts
and many other exquisite things. The temples they had for learning were filled with
mathematics, literacy, and craftsmanship along with the learning of their gods and
many other gods of different religions. Nebakanezer is said to be the one who
started the modern day Judaism. He had executed the Jews at one point during his
rule. He didn t believe in what the Jews believed
The Dehumanization Of People From Other Religions
The dehumanization of people from other religions is also an example of intolerance.
The treatment that Muslims received throughout the poem, is more intolerant than
tolerant, although there are a few times where the tolerance between the Christians
and Muslims can be seen. El Cid, takes from the Muslims without question. His
tactics for taking from them can be seen as inhuman as well as extremely violent. The
Muslims are also categorized with the cattle which demonstrates the level with which
the Christians thought of them as, He captured Moorish men and Moorish women,
and all the cattle being herded out (Pg.33). The intolerance is evident by this quote.

This generates the idea that the Christians created a negative depiction of the Muslim
people solely based on their religion and no other reasons. They only listen to the
voice of Christianity and all others are subordinate and need to be defeated. Religious
intolerance is not only depicted by El Cid. Hildegard also insinuates her intolerance
towards other religions as well. Hildegard s letter all show her reliance and praise on
God. Through her visions she is able to share his wisdom and knowledge of the
holy church. Her letter to Bernard of Clairvaux provides the beginning of her ideas
of intolerance. Bernard of Clairvaux was a leading supporter behind the Second
Crusade. The crusades are directly correlated to intolerance. Although, writing to him
does not necessarily suggest that she is intolerant towards other religions, the
statements that she says in her letter signify her support of the movement. In later
letters, she continues her appeal to the people she is writing too, that Christianity is
the religion that they must follow and she can help them with her visions. She
suggests to the people who seek her help, that God is the answer to all of their
problems. They can be saved through the power of God and she can help them
achieve the answers they are looking for since she has a connection with God.
The 11 Principles Of Quality
Quality. Such a simple word with a multitude of meanings. I must admit, prior to this
course, I was rather naГЇve about what quality entailed. I definitely did not have a
concrete definition of what quality was or stood for. It simply seemed as though
quality was something that worked most of the time. After the studies from this
course I have a much better grasp of how to define qualityand what exactly quality
means in various areas of life and business. For instance, the 11 Baldrige Principles
of Quality are an easily used metric for defining the quality of an organization.
Previously, I never would have used these 11 principles to define an organization as
quality. Now, I find it hard not to view an organization in relation to the 11... Show

Thankfully, the Baldrige principles changed my perspective on quality. As such, I
now use a few of the principles to grade an organization. The main principles I find
myself grading an organization with are visionary leadership, customer centered
excellence, valuing workforce members and partners and societal responsibility. All
eleven of the principles are important. However, these tend to be the most important
to me when defining the quality of an organization.
For instance, I now purchase many products from the Newman s Own brand based
on the principles I have mentioned. They have a strong sense of societal
responsibility and ensure 100% of profits to charity is an underlying theme in all
they do (Newman s Own, n.d.). This drew me towards them as a company, then I
noticed how much they value their employees and how their core values tend to
line up with the 11 Baldrige principles (Newman s Own, n.d.). After looking into
this company and seeing how they operate, I decided to purchase as many
products as I could from them and ensure other people were aware of their mission.
This is something that would never have been in my realm of possibilities prior to
this course. This is not to say I was unaware of being socially responsible prior to
this course. It is simply highlighting how my thought pattern has been modified since
learning about these specific 11 Baldrige Principles of Quality. After having such an
epiphany about quality and how I grade various

Deadly Debris Humans tend to think of space as infinite, that is true as far as we
can tell, however the space around Earth is not infinite. After the Space race began
in the late 1950 s countries began sending satellites into space for various purposes.
Today these Satellites are very important to everyday life, but there is a looming
problem that has often been overlooked. Low Earth orbit, where most satellites and
spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of many old and decaying
satellites. Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in space and
could eventually make low Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi
paper I am currently working on is a story about a group of astronauts in the near
future who are returning from mining an asteroid. In this story it is much like the
moon landings in that people were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now.
These are just routine missions that hardly anyone knows or cares about. This all
changes however when two satellites in high orbit on Earth collide, one being a

to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is
unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is hit. Now adrift

been of concern due to the ability of dolphins to locate objects and discriminate
objects based on size, shape, and composition (Akamatsu, Nakaqawa, Hatakeyama,
1995). Any disturbance in the form of sound pollution could cause these cetaceans
to mass strand because they are so dependent on sound as their principal sense
(Nowacek et al. 2007). Sound travels very efficiently underwater and so impacted
areas can affect thousands of square kilometers out. Most of the sound pollution in
the ocean come from underwater explosions caused by sonar, seismic testing caused
by oil and gas industries, or underwater sea quakes through natural events. The
anthropogenic noises can cause deep diving populations like beaked whales to be
threatened and abandon their habitat and surface rapidly. Exposure to anthropogenic
sounds negatively affect deep diving cetaceans (Cox et al. 2006). There are a
number of hypotheses for the injuries in the cetaceans that stranded in areas of sonar
exercises like decompression sickness and behavioral

Traveling, trade, economy, technologies were completely changed after its
creation. The world became smaller, and people started to think differently about
the world. Two main stories are important for the invention of the aircraft. First, the
Wright brothers are known as the creators of the airplane. They are believed to be
the inventors of the machine for the most part of the world. The brothers created a
prototype that was able fly with the help of a catapult, in other words, the machine
could just float. It could not put itself in the by using self propulsion. The second
story is that the creation of the airplane is given to Santos Dumont, a Brazilian
citizen that expanded his aircraft studies in France; A man who studied many
different types of flying equipment, including the airplane. His prototype, the14
BIS, could fly and handle itself on the air with a gas engine developed to do so.
The first airplanes were developed in the beginning of the 20th century right before
the World War I in which aircraft was most utilized for observation. With the
evolution of the technology, aircraft started to have more utilization so that during
the World War II they were very important weapons delivery and bombing the battle
fields. Reconnaissance was another function for the aircraft during World War II.
Thus, the development of the planes had to be followed by the creation of the
airports. In the early days of aviation airports were known as flying
Making Music For Autistic Children
Autism is a term for a group of complex disorders that affect brain development.
Around 1 in every 68 American children is on the autism spectrum, and tens of
millions of individuals affected by autism worldwide. Autism can be associated with
difficulties in motor coordination, communication challenges, and a tendency to
engage in repetitive behaviors. Although autismis a life long condition, autistic
children and adults all benefit from interventions, or therapies, that can increase skills
and reduce symptoms (Autism Speaks: 2014). Music whether it be musical
instruction or simply listening to music has been shown to improve cognitive
abilities. Making music is a complex process that requires the tuning of fine motor
skills, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recall that Group A is composed of autistic children while Group C is not.
Specifically, the children will have hour long piano lessons once a week for a year.
In these piano lessons, the children will spend a portion of the time simply
listening to the piano. They will spend the rest of the time learning to read music,
play basic scales, position their fingers correctly, tap their feet to the beat of the
music, and eventually play basic songs. Group B and Group D, meanwhile, will
not undergo any musical training. They will not learn any musical techniques, and
they will just continue on with their everyday lives for a year. They are free to
listen to music if they wish, but the amount of music they listen to during this year
will not have changed from the amount listened to in any previous years of their
lives. These groups essentially act as control groups. At the end of the year, all
four groups will take a post test. The post test will be made up of similar tasks as in
the pre test (the tasks will not be exactly the same to prevent bias, but they will be of
the same nature and difficulty). The childrens individual performances will once
again be assessed and then compared to their previous scores.
Essay About Littering
People knowing more about the effects that littering has on the ocean environment
will hopefully encourage them to pick up after themselves and others to help make
the world a better place. As time progresses forward, people are getting more and
more lazier to clean up after themselves. Most of the time, the trash that is left on the
ground will eventually find its way into the sewers. According to Water Pollutionan
Introduction, 80% of water pollutioncomes from land which gets to the ocean by the
sewers. Another piece of evidence from that source is that the trash that finds its way
into the ocean, will often take a fish s life because the trash will get into the gills of
the fish and suffocate it. Organizations all around the world hope... Show more

Oil is probably the source of pollution that kills the most marine life. The creatures
most affected by oil are animals like sea otters and seabirds that are found on the sea
surface. According to Water Pollution an Introduction, an oil spillcan kill up to 2,800
sea otters and 250,000 birds. According to a different source, called Water
Pollution, oil spills are only accountable for 12% of the oil spilled in the ocean
throughout the year. This means that oil is still getting into the ocean without it
being spilled. The DeepWater Horizon oil spill was one of the most serious oil
spills that killed tons of people including 8,332 species of wildlife. Oil is the most
harmful pollutant because it can get to the ocean very easily because of runoff.
According to Water Pollution, the DeepWater Horizon spill killed over 1,200
species of fish, 200 birds, 1,400 mollusks, 1,500 crustaceans, 4 sea turtles, and 29
marine mammals. In 1980, 600 tons of oil spilled in a strait separating Norway
from Denmark ultimately killed 30,000 birds. If all oil was removed from the
ocean, it would be a much better place for the wildlife and people around the
Chlororphyrin And Therapeutic Analysis
Complexation of porphyrin with the metal will cause the shifts of Q bands in the
UV Vis spectra in the range of 500 700 nm as shown in Figure 2.7. This can be
observed by the disappearance of two Q bands out of four as the porphyrin
undergoes the change from D4h symmetry to D2h symmetry (Rita Giovannetti,
2012). The Q bands were denoted as О± and ОІ. The coordination of porphyrin to
Ni(II), Sn(IV) or Pd(II) which can form stable square planar complexes generally
consists of a higher О± peak (Figure 2.7 (A)), while the coordination of porphyrin to
Cd(II) which forms a complex that can easily be displaced by protons will show a
higher ОІ peak (Figure 2.7(B)).
The common solvents and counter ions employed in the synthesis metalloporphyrin
are chloroform, methanol, dimethylforamide, acetate buffer, pyridine, metal carbonyl
and acetylacetone. In general, the selection of solvent depends on the solubility of
porphyrin. For example, the chloroform was selected for metallation of meso
tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) due to the solubility of TPP in chloroform. Besides, the
metal counter ion as carrier of metal should be considered as well, as the solubility of
metal salt also affect the metallation of porphyrin. ... Show more content on

Rhetorical Analysis Of All Life Matters By Michelle Malkin
As of 2012, 11.2 million illegal immigrants reside in the United States, making up
one third of the country s foreign born population (Krogstad, Passel). The majority
of the Republican Party, angered by the lack of security and enforcement required to
control the issue, wish to allot as much time and resources possible into restricting
access to those who fail to enter the country legally (repubicanviews.org). In her
recent work, blatant conservative blogger Michelle Malkin critiqued the government
s handling of the situation and vocalized her disapprobation towards the subject
when she asserted there are more urgent matters, such as terrorist threats, for the
country to address. She states, Capitol Hill and the White House have been far too
preoccupied with legalizing millions of illegal aliens in the name of homeland
security to follow up (Malkin).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michelle Malkin frequently employs anecdotal evidence in her columns as a way to
incorporate personal experience and evoke sympathy from her audience in an
attempt at persuading and educating them further. For example, in her article, All
Life Matters: Jahi McMath s Journey, she presents the story of a young, comatose
teenage girl s continual fight for her life, despite various medical personnel insisting
she is brain dead. Much of the article centers around this story, allowing Malkin to
inform her audience about the controversy surrounding life support and persuade
them to remain hopeful in cases like these, for Jahi may be defying the odds with a
recovery underway. Her inclusion of this story emphasizes a well versed and
persuasive tone, as it allows her to demonstrate her knowledge of the controversy to
Americans, while simultaneously influencing their view on life support with the
Romance In Nathaniel Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance, rather than being considered a novel,
should be considered with the distinction of a romance. The beginnings of the book
are heavily laden with symbols and allusions to the supernatural along with
romantic interests, both characteristic of a romance. Coverdale consistently
discusses the Veiled Lady and claims Zenobia is an enchantress, actually saying in
Chapter Six that Zenobia is an enchantress! He continues, she is a sister of the
Veiled Lady! That flower in her hair is a talisman. If you were to snatch it away, she
would vanish; or be transformed into something else (45)! The presence of the
supernatural is anything but lacking in this romance. Coverdale in his narration
believes Zenobia s
Analysis Of Saturday Climbing By W. D Valgardson
Teen ager would argue that to be independant is to be free. Although parents would
say their child s desire for independence is strenuous like an uphill climb. This is
confirmed in W.D. Valgardson s short story Saturday Climbing where Barry
struggles to climb a deceiving rock face which is analogous to his relationship with
his daughter. Not only if Moira will go to college in the upcoming year but also
which campus she will attend.Through this narrative, Valgardson suggests that
when parents provide copious amounts of security, conflict will arise and children
will rebel; only when a balance is found between security and allowing
independence will the relationship be harmonious. When Moira is young Barry is
able to provide full security for her because she is fully dependant on him. Barry
recalls how the climbing was easy; there were large handholds, so that at first
climbing was little more difficult than walking up stairs (p. 52). Both Barry and
Moira are comfortable with the amount of security and any conflicts are easily
solved. Barry can readily protect Moira from any possible dangers. Even as Moira
becomes an adult Barry nostalgically sees her as a little girl, intricately constructed
of fragile paper (p. 56). Therefore he must protect her from anything that might
damage her. Barry would like Moira to always follow him so he can keep life
simple and uncomplicated (p. 53) by setting any necessary protection for her.
However, because Moira is so sheltered and suffocated by her father, as she grows
older she is quick to separate herself and become independent. Providing security
becomes increasing difficult for Barry just as the incline on the cliff becomes more
challenging; unexpectedly, the surfaces smoothed; the places where he could get a
secure hold were spread farther and farther apart. At the same time, the numerous
cracks swindled until there was no place to set any protection (p. 52). Moreover
Barry and Moira s relationship beings to impede, activities like chess where they
could connect becomes obsolete. Moira often comes home late smelling of marijuana
and when asked if anything is bothering her Barry is answered with a cold contained
Nothing (p.53). Every attempt Bary has to
Yankees Salaries
The Yankees are known as the New England Patriots of the MLB. Or should we
say that the Patriots are to football, what the Yankees have been to baseball for as
long as we can all remember. Though there have certainly been dark times for the
franchise just like any other, many fans of my generation (20 and younger) have
never experienced any real adversity as a fan watching the team. However, times
have certainly changed the past four years, as the Yankees have made one cameo
appearance in the playoffs. The appearance occurred last season, which would see the
Yankees get eliminated by the Astros in the wild card game. One and done. Which is
another sign that times have changed, considering the Astros have been a team that

In fact, I expect the team to contend in 3 5 years at the most. Let s get started, shall
we? 4. New Yankee Perspective A big reason why the Yankees future seems bright
despite their struggles, is really credited to the new perspective on the game that
the Yankees have seemingly adopted. Winning a World Series, is no longer as easy
as just dipping into the free agent pool. That point was proven when the Yankees
let Robinson Cano walk, deciding to sign Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann, and
Carlos Beltran in the same off season. Despite Beltran being productive, the trio
hasn t had the impact the Yankees were quite hoping for. That should be a clear
point, considering the Yankees only have 1 cameo playoff appearance to show for
it. The Yankees have learned from that mistake and adapted to what the game is
today, by making an effort to build a strong farm. They also have made strong effort
in keeping their prospects, rather then trading them away. 3. The Farm Is Extremely
Strong The Yankees haven t just made an effort in building a strong farm, they have
been successful in doing so. The Yankees would vastly improve their already strong
Hypoalgesic Response
The role of exercise in pain perception has been widely researched over a number of
years. Koltyn (2000) found that research had been taking place for more than twenty
years. Previous studies have identified the significance of exercise in the treatment
and rehabilitation for many patients with chronic pain(Naugle, Fillingham, Riley,
2012). Hypoalgesia was found to occur following resistance and isometric exercise
(Koltyn, 2000). However, it was suggested that further examination was required to
develop an understanding of hypoalgesic responses following different modes of
exercise (Koltyn, 2000). Further studies have provided evidence that healthy
individuals demonstrated that sensitivity to painful stimuli is reduced with acute

These disorders include fibromyalgia, chronic neck pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid
arthritis, and chronic low back pain. However, there is still indecision as to whether
exercise has a positive effect on the processes involved in central pain modulation
(CPM) (Nijs, Kosek, Van Oosterwijck, Meeus, 2012). There is an assumption that
exercise induced endogenous analgesia is the result of endogenous opioids being
released and growth factors, along with the activation of (supra) spinal nociceptive
inhibitory mechanisms coordinated by the brain (Nijs et al., 2012). An investigation
into (CPM) as a potential mechanism of EIH revealed that this was not the case
(Ellingson, Koltyn, Kim, Cook, 2014). The testing for intensity and unpleasant rating
to noxious heat stimuli, included painful exercise, non painful exercise, and quiet
rest. According to the findings pain sensitivity, significantly decreased during both
types of exercise session but there was no significant change during quiet rest

Religion amp; Sexism in Sweat
When you think about women in the south in the 1920 s what comes to your mind
first? Is it the hard work they did? Is it the fact that they were good family oriented
women? Was it the way that they were self sacrificing and took care of their
husbands before themselves? Remembering the good can also come with some bad.
Women in this time period had to go through many travesties, especially African
American women who went through more than anyone else. The role that sexism
played in their lives made it hard for them to be anything more than domestic
workers, being easily disposable and wrongly treated. By virtue of ... Show more

Without that religious backbone she wouldn t have had the strength to endure Sykes
for all those years. It also shows us how the power of god can helps us overcome
many obstacles that life may throw at us. Sykes own abusive actions in the story
winding up being his downfall in the end. The snake that he uses to try and kill
Delia becomes the weapon of his own destruction. The sun crept on up, and he
called. Delia could not move her legs were gone flabby. She never moved, he called,
and the sun kept rising (10).
The sunlight that rises when Sykes dies is symbolic of the light that overcomes the
darkness and is triumphant in defeating evil. Delia dealt with sexism in a courageous
and encouraging way, she dealt with gender defining what she could do her whole
life, yet it never stopped her. Living in the early 1900 s women no matter what
color had no rights. The story began with Delia washing clothes for white people
on Sunday. This caused Sykes to verbally abuse her for dishonoring god because
she was washing clothes on the Sabbath day. Many women during this time had
worked as washers for wealthier white people. Delia Jones was her own woman but
being married, Sykes was her weakness. Sykes demolished Delia s self esteem,
making her seem like she was no good for working for white people. Ms. Jones said
Ah been married to you fur fifteen yeas, and Ah been takin in washin for fifteen
Comparing Persey Jackson and the Odysseus Essay
A hero must never leave his friends behind even if he must force them to go with
him. In The Odyssey by Homer, in the chapter The Lotus Eaters Odysseus arrives
on an island were three of his crew eat the Lotus and fight to stay on the island. In
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan when Percy goes to the Lotus Casino his
friends are stuck and he must force them out. Odysseus and Percy are similar
because they are heroes who encounter the Lotus Eaters while on a quest, but they
are different because Odysseus is on an island, while Percy is in a casino. Odysseus
and Percy are similar because they both are stuck with the Lotus Eaters and must help
their friends escape by forcing them. Odysseus must force his men off the island,

This means this makes him a savior who was not affected or fooled by the Lotus.
On the other hand, Percy was affected by the Lotus and had to shake out of it
before helping his friends. Percy was affected but slowly noticed I tried to
remember why we were here. We were going to Los Angeles. We were supposed to
find the entrance to the Underworld. My mother . . . For a scary second, I had
trouble remembering her name. Sally. Sally Jackson. I had to find her, I had to stop
Hades from causing World War III. This shows Percy awakening from the Lotus,
and remembering his mission, unlike Odysseus who was never affected or blinded.
While he was fooled and blinded, Percy still woke from the affects and helped his
friends wake up and escape. Percy and Odysseus were different from one another in
many ways. Odysseus and Percy both similarly encountered the Lotus Eaters while on
a quest and must rescue their friends, but they meet them in different places and save
their friends differently. Both heroes had saved their friends from the Lotus, but their
saving methods differed from the others. Many heroes have similarities but they are
also different from one another even in their similarities.
Essay on Orwell and Colonialism
Orwell and Colonialism
I often wondered whether any of the others grasped that I had done it solely to
avoid looking a fool. So ends George Orwell s poignant reminiscence of an incident
representing the imperialist British in Burma. Unlike Soyinka, who wrote about
colonialism from the African s point of view, Orwell, like Joseph Conrad in Heart of
Darkness, presents the moral dilemmas of the imperialist. Orwell served with the
Imperialist Police in Burma while it was still part of the British Commonwealth and
Empire. His service from 1922 to 1927 burdened himwith a sense of guilt about
British colonialism as well a need to make some personal expiation for it (Norton

Despite his support for the Burmese, Orwell endured their overwhelming bitterness
and hatred because of his British heritage: the sneering faces . . . of young men
that met me everywhere, the insults hooted after me . . got badly on my nerves
(p.3). Orwell sums up his feelings of guilt, coupled with his reaction against being
hated: All I knew was that I was stuck between my hatred of the empire I served
and my rage against the evil spirited little beasts who tried to make my job
impossible (4). Although part of him saw the British Raj as tyrannical, with another
part I thought that the greatest joy in the world would be to drive a bayonet into a
Buddhist priest s guts (4). Orwell rationalizes his rage saying, Feelings like these are
the normal by products of imperialism (4). Orwell realizes that tyrannical imperialism
works against both the imperialists and the natives.
Orwell abandons his morals and kills the elephant to garner the approval of the
Burmans. He feels compelled to shoot the animal because the Burmans did not like

  • 2. The Maltese Falcon Essay Theater 120C: Final Paper In The Maltese Falcon (1941), Humphrey Bogart plays Sam Spade, a private eye detective who is lured into the chase for a bird statue by a mysterious and deceitful woman named Ruth. His objectives are to find the Maltese Falcon, and discover the murderer of two crimes: the death of his former partner, Miles Archer, and another man named Thursby. He also wishes to prove his innocence for the murder of his partner because the police have him as the prime suspect. Sam approaches these problems by using his street smarts and investigative skills to follow a trail. Many times, he uses his uncanny ability to read expressions, words, and actions to see through lies and find the truth. This is evident when Ruth returns... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Maltese Falcon has significant physical altercations and plenty of shouting. There is one instance of man vs. self conflict in that Sam loves Brigid, a femme fatale, but that her various lies, and her selfish nature works against the possibility of a relationship. At the end of the movie, Brigid begs Sam not to turn her into the police but he outlines in detail why their relationship would not work: she is his partner s murderer (1:29:20). This shocking revelation cannot be overlooked because Sam states he cannot trust her. His knowledge of the crime makes him vulnerable to being shot in the back by her if they were to be married. He does not want to play the sap for her. He resolves this conflict by choosing logic over emotion, and turning in Brigid to the police for the murder of his partner, Miles Archer. The female portrayal in the film was a femme fatale named Brigid O Shaughnessy who first appears in the beginning of the movie (03:51) claiming to be searching for her sister. She appears to fit the damsel in distress archetype because of her convincing performance in the loss of her sister. However, her lies begin to unravel and it is ultimately revealed she killed Sam s partner. Brigid is interesting in that the true extent of her malice (murder) is not revealed until the end of the movie. The audience can see she is selfish, but not evil until Sam deduces her crimes. Gender was not an issue in
  • 3. Meet The Robinsons Meet the Robinsons, a Disney and Pixar film, has turn out to be one of the most inspirational movies that I have endlessly watched. Being a children s movie, I honestly did not expect for it to have such a profound meaning, but you can find the utmost astounding things where you do not expect to. I am glad I decided to watch this movie because it has motivated me to let go of the past and keep moving forward. This movie is about a boy genius, Lewis Robinson, an orphan left by his mother as an infant. Lewis cannot find a familyto adopt him, but aspires to be a great inventor. As his inventions continue to fail, and each family turns him down, he begins to doubt his abilities and his significance. He later decides to invent a device... • 4. What Are The Sales Promotion Objectives Of Club Med 1. What are the sales promotion objectives? ( 50 words 1 or 2 objectives ) According to Mahmoud (2017), hotels need to attain their minimum occupancy levels in order to achieve average sales. By offering Malaysian consumers up to 40% discount, the objective of this promotion is to increase occupancy rate by 5% during the off peak period of 2014 in the select destinations stated. 2. Do you think it will accomplish its objectives? (Yes/No/Yes and No 2 points 100 words each) No, it was not advertised in the right channel and the duration was too short to maximise reach. Firstly, the promotion was not highly advertised through the right channels; it could only be found on their website and at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel... For example, in Sahoro, which is a famous destination to enjoy ski, peak period is winter, and non peak is summer. On that year, they did not have the same type of promotion, which might have caused them to have such low occupancy rate. However if they can get more customers during a low peak season by having a promotional package like this during off season, they might bring figures up to
  • 5. Anxiety Disorder The mental illness I chose to write about is one that my mom suffers from which would be panic disorder. A panic disorder is a form of an anxiety disorder. The history of anxiety disorders dates back before medical records were recorded. In the sixteenth century, anxiety was known as hysteria. Professional had different opinions on the cause of this disorder, for example, witchcraft, had to do with the uterus until men were found to have the same condition, the person is a hypochondriac, and demons were entering the body. In the eighteenth century panic disorder was known as the nervous illness. Today we know that panic attacks are a sudden urge of overwhelming fear and anxiety . There are many myths that surround panic attacks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is so other medical conditions or disorders can be ruled out like substance abuse as it can mimic panic attacks. Once a person is diagnosed the doctor will probably order an anti depressant medication and or sedative. The doctor will most likely recommend that you eat healthier and at the same time every day along with getting plenty of exercise. He will also recommend that one stays away from street drugs, alcohol, caffeine, and get a fair amount of sleep. Along with this advice, the doctor will also recommend that you seek professional help like a psychiatrist. As mentioned before Aaron Beck is the founder of CBT and this practice is still used today but is known as talk therapy. Even though there are many types of talk therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and interpersonal therapy are the ones that work the best for treating depression and anxiety disorders as the two therapies work hand in hand. The cognitive behavior therapy focuses on changing one s negative thought patterns into positive thought patterns, interpersonal therapy focuses on how you relate to other people, it will assist one in making personal relationships positive. A self support group can also be effective for one that suffers from anxiety disorders. Family can also be of help as the person who suffers from anxiety disorders need all the support they can get. Keeping one s self in a positive and low stress environment can
  • 6. The Sacred and Profane in American Beauty Essay Durkheim s concepts of the sacred and the profane has dominated religious and social commentary for decades. While these two, inexorably linked, concepts are most often related with respect to religion, we can apply them to the almost religion of the American Dream for the purpose of analyzing the lives of Lester and Carolyn Burnham, Buddy Kane, and Angela Hayes in the film American Beauty. In American Beauty the experiences of the characters illustrates the dichotomy between the sacred and profane, the morality associated with the sacred and profane, and the influences the sacred and profane have on the characters. Her beauty is exceptional and rare, and so she is far from the normal, profane woman. Her sexual beauty is the source of her sacred status, and is evidenced by her assertions that she is using her beauty and sexual desirability to advance herself in society. By the societal ideal, she should be using her sexuality for power, and so the perception that she is makes her sacred. The fact that she is actually a virgin is similar to the fact that Buddy is in a failing marriage, the perception by society is what solidifies the image as sacred, and these two facts are not part of the images Angela and Buddy project. Buddy is sacred in his success. This is repeatedly hammered home by the title King of Real Estate. Buddy is enormously successful in a oh so American job selling real estate. A large part of Buddy s sacred status the the sacred status of the money that he is associated with. Money is a form of control that grows more powerful as we obtain more money. As Belk and Wallendorf (1990) state in their article The Sacred Meaning of Money, contemporary consumer society has been characterized
  • 7. Political Climate In Public Administration In 1932, in response to the economic depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, promised the people a new deal. The new deal was intended to provide much needed relief, recovery, and reform to the American people, by seeking to stabilize the economy and provide jobs to those who were suffering. It forced a change in the structure of American governmentand pushed it to play a bigger role in the financing of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at the state and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning, efficiency measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time, that management in the U.S., was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the political approach to public administration. Political Climate of the 1930s 1950s, an Overview of Public Administration Theories of Chester Bernard, Luther Gulick, and Robert K. Morton Introduction The purpose of this essay is to explore and compare the theoretical perspectives of theorists Charles E. Lindblom, Chester Bernard and Luther Gulick, and their impact on the creation and approach to the science of administration. In the early years, influences from authors Woodrow Wilson, Frank Goodnow, L D White, and F.W. Willoughby, and their philosophies of public administration helped to reaffirm the need to separate the political functions and administrative functions of the government. However, following WWII, the opposition to
  • 8. Ulcerative Colitis Introduction: What is Ulcerative Colitis? Just from the name, you can guess that this disease concerns ulcers. But does this entail anything else? Let us find out in this article about the disease that still has its causes unverified by the world. Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is a disease/disorder of the Large intestine. It occurs in the colonand rectum areas only. When food passes through the Large Intestine, the body s immune system may mistake the food materials, bacteria, etc as foreign invading agents and sends White blood cells (WBC) to defend the body. This causes chronic inflammation and ulceration of the large intestine, which causes severe pain and discomfort for the patient. This is why this disease falls under the category of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and is also referred to as an autoimmune disease. Furthermore, we still don t... They are considered as auto immune disorders and both of them successfully fall under the criteria of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) but they work in different areas of the body. Crohn s disease can occur in any part of the Gastro Intestinal Tract (GIT), while Ulcerative Colitis only affects the colon and rectum of the large intestine. Again, Crohn s Disease can affect all layers of the bowel while Ulcerative Colitis, can harm only the linings of the colon. These are the major differences between them. Conclusion Though Ulcerative Colitis is not a disease that can cause certain death, but it can lead to the creation of many other which have high mortality rates. Such as, strokes and colon cancer. We know that there is bleeding when Ulcerative Colitis occurs. So, during blood clotting, increased amounts of blood clots also form in the brain causes strokes. Again, the breaking of the mucus layer in the colon can give rise to cancerous lesions, which develops to colon cancer later

In addition, we read about the reauthorization of IDEA 1997 and how it changed the individual educational plan (IEP) by requiring that IEP teams consider assistive technology for all students with IEPs. (Grand Canyon University, n.d. Lecture 1) Initially, I thought that I had limited experience with assistive technology. It became clear to me this week through the readings, that many accommodations and methods I have used in the classroom, are actually a form of assistive technology. I am speaking of the low tech tools, for examples, pencil grips, paper holders, sticky notes and reading guide to name a few. (Dell, Newton, Petroff, 2012, p.6.) In addition,
  • 10. Analysis Of Lord Of The Flies In the popular novel, Lord of the Flies, there are many elements to the story that are not seen when just viewed from the surface. In order to understand these ideas, we have to dive deeper and really analyze the characters in the story. When you do this, a very important theme will arise and that is the very different personality types of the boys on the island. These personality types can be explained using Freud s psychoanalytic theory of personality. His theory explains that there are three basic parts of personality; the id, the ego, and the superego. Everyone has a different combination of these three parts, which makes everyone s personality different. In the novel, Jack is a character who has a lot of id in his personality.... But you had to hunt...You didn t ought to have let that fire out. You said you d keep the smoke going... (Golding 100). He even goes out hunting and neglects to tend to the fire, which goes out, inhibiting Ralph from signaling a passing ship for their rescue. He went hunting and didn t think about the consequences of his actions. Lastly, Jack ambushes Ralph s campsite in search of Piggy s glasses because he needs them to make fire. He acted upon his first savage instinct instead of thinking through a solution that wouldn t hurt Ralph s group. He could have just asked to borrow the glasses or a stick from Ralph s fire, but instead he uses violence to hurt Ralph s tribe and take away Piggy s vision. Jack acts upon impulses and only wants to help himself and doesn t care about others. He also doesn t think about how his actions could have negative consequences for him or for others. For these reasons, Jack is a great representation of the id personality. The second personality typeis the ego. Ralph is a character that demonstrates a lot of ego. According to Freud, the ego is the rational, pragmatic part of our personality. It is less primitive than the id and is partly conscious and partly unconscious. It s what
  • 11. Writing A Bunch Of Illegitimate Papers I, one of millions of first year college students, believe that I write bland essays due to the fact that my high school English teachers failed to teach me how to think clearly and creatively. For instance, with my twelfth English teacher, Mrs. Tuttle, there are many cases to which I felt she could ve improved her teachings not only for me to understand how to write a well developed paper but as well as others students. First case scenario being how she gave class activities and her teaching style. She had a way of giving activities based on the feeling of how she felt would be a good way for us to learn the material versus what we felt would be the best way to learn the material. These ways included little to no group work. Writinga bunch of illegitimate papers that would be graded by my peers who had little to no idea of what right or wrongs they were looking for. Thus for leaving me with an ambiguous reason to what my writings were lacking or why I never made anything higher than a C in her class. Another way would be the fact that she lived off the teaching theory of if one can do it then all can do it . This hands down was the number reason why I could never write a well thought out, clear and creative paper. Since the first Puritans arrival at the New World from England, everything had been normal and people havd been doing normal things like farming, cooking, preaching, making candles or going to church. Together, they built a strong Christian community of hardworking, humble Christ followers. They even found a college named Harvard to train pastors. John Rick s generation continued to keep those values and protect the lands. However, there was a dark period of time when the town was not normal anymore. Although almost forty people signed in a petition for Mrs. Nurse, she still ended up being hanged. Another trial that Rick attended was the trail of George Simpson , one of Rick s closest friend. Simpson, as honest as Mrs. Nurse, refused to confess and claimed that he was innocent before God. The moment the judge declare Simpson s death sentence, Rick was quite surprised. Rick was already quite unconvinced of Mrs. Nurse s death, and this time he was even more doubtful. First, George Simpson was a nice and educated minister that helped everyone who needed help. Until the night Simpson got arrested, Rick saw no non Christian signs on this friend. Also, Rick knew that Simpson was a muscular man, so it totally made sense if he could lift a big rock with one hand. Nevertheless, all court personnels concluded that Simpson could not have done that without Satan s help. For some reasons, Rick told himself that he could not do anything about it. It became truly serious to John Rick when one afternoon, a court official and other ten men came to his house to arrest his wife. Mrs. Rick was similar to Mrs. Nurse, a virtous and pious Christian woman. John Rick had nearly gone mad; half of his mind told him if his wife was indeed innocent, she would be released. The other half reminded him of Mrs. Nurse s and Simpson s deaths. That night, he went around in the town to convince people to sign in a petition for his wife. By the

Abstract: The project deals with the Block Nested loop Join operation on given relations. In the project, we used Adventure Works databaseto demonstrate the results. We observed the execution of the block nested loop Join. The project also takes into account the technical details of each relations, for example, what is the tuple size of the relation, what are the total number of blocks allocated for each relation, what are the number of tuples per block and so on. The algorithm for the Join are detailed and explored. Also for the algorithm, the best, the worst case is being elaborated. Further, even the available memory size, allocated memory size, are taken into account while retrieving the tuples from the relations. The number of Block transfers, and number of I/O seeks required for each relation are calculated. Finally, these time of each relation in the algorithm are compared to determine the role of tuples in Block Nested loop join. 2. Implementation: For the implementation purpose, Adventure Works is used as the database and Java is used for Programming. Net Beans is used for Java programming and

It is safe to say that during that time, life was not the same as it was in high school. Many adjustments, such as sacrifices and prioritizing had to be made. However, I think that those adjustments had made me a more accountable student, but more ultimately a better rounded human being. As I am about to enter my second year at Loyola, I am ready to tackle whatever challenges I may face. I personally feel that I am still a planet s distance away from figuring out who I really am, but I think that as long as I can keep being the best person I can be, I can accomplish what I want to do during my post collegiate career. In this essay, I will talk about my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago, emphasizing my field of study, college experience, and my career goals including the route I plan to take to get there. My current major at Loyola Chicago is Health Systems Management otherwise known as H.S.M. which as it implies, revolves around the health care industry. I was originally an Economics major with the Liberal Arts and Sciences school. At the time, I thought that Economics was the major for me because I really enjoyed the topic when I was in high school, and I was also into business. I did well in both semesters; however, I was also interested in learning about the health care business. I did not know that Loyola had a major focusing on health care until I talked

As he descends through hell he progressively sees people who committed worse and worse crimes. Because of this we are able to see into the mind of Dante; and therefore, understand his thoughts on the volatility of the crimes committed. Because of unfortunate events in Dante s life, Dante is much too harsh on his ranking of moral failures. This is shown in him referencing people from his own life that Dante feels deserves to go to hell. Before even getting to the circles of hell, Dante passes the gates of hell. He sees men and women that took no part in conflicts in and were only in life for themselves. Here Dante sees a pope from his life by the name of Celestine V. Dante recognizes several, among them POPE CELESTINE V. (Dante 41) Celestine was a pope that was elected in July of 1294 and abandoned the papal leadership just 5 months later to escape the limelight. • 33. Difference Between Teenagers And Modern Teenagers Compare and contrast the lifestyles of Thai teenagers, past and present Today s teenagers are different from the past teenagers because of the time and the prosperity of the technology. In the past, there was little equipment and technology, so they had to try their best to do the routines. But nowadays, I think that technology makes routines easier than before like listening to music, games and photography. The difference between listening to the music in the past and current. In the past, about the year 1990, Thailand was not very technologically advanced. Equipment related to electronics was expensive. If they wanted to collect the songs of their famous singer, they needed to buy a cassette of the album. Even though they only liked one song, they had to buy the whole album. Each tape was expensive. When a singer made a new song, they needed to buy more. And if they brought only the tape, they could not listen to the music. They needed a tape player that came with a radio which was more expensive than tape. If teens did not have enough money to buy, they have to call the dj on the radio so that they can play it through the radio. Currently they just use the phone and listen to music. If they like that music, they can buy only that song. Or they can listen to music on the Internet as YouTube or 4share, and they can download it when there is no Internet without paying. The current game is more realistic than old games. In the 1990s. The games had been designed for the fun of the players. The story of the games did not focus much. The story was to help the girl or queen to return to the peace like Mario, etc. Also, players tried to play the game to finish and watch the scene. The games were 2D image with a side view. At present, this view is greatly reduced. The games in the past were not focused on the story, but the games were very focused on gameplay. Old games were fun and also very difficult. To find people through was very difficult. Sometimes, they brought a summary of the game to pass the game. But with the technology of the past, they could not be create games like reality, so they created the game character as in the cartoon. There were not many effects in the game. They made the games with almost no

Beginning within the Alps of Austria, the intoxicating spins and steps of the waltz were born. Not long after, however, the waltz took Europe by storm. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a German writer, even stated in 1765 that people felt obliged to learn [the waltz], for without knowledge of this dance, it was impossible to enter the highest social circles. Although this partner danceis now practically a necessity in social ballroom events, the rise of the waltz would prove to be a difficult journey. Controversy over this popular social activity was not lacking from political and religious leaders. From scandalous to classy, the waltz is a famous traditional type of ballroom dancing that has greatly influenced many dance styles around the world. While the waltz has been around for hundreds of years, the steps used today are actually not a part of the original dance. It is generally accepted that the exact origins of the waltz are fairly obscure. However, it is theorized that the waltz was a product of evolution from a dance called the ländler (Britannica). As like various other dances, the waltz has evolved through the ländler along with cultural and social advances. Created in the countryside of Austria, the ländler was a type of couple s dance that became widely popular in the late eighteenth century when composers began creating music for

The treatment that Muslims received throughout the poem, is more intolerant than tolerant, although there are a few times where the tolerance between the Christians and Muslims can be seen. El Cid, takes from the Muslims without question. His tactics for taking from them can be seen as inhuman as well as extremely violent. The Muslims are also categorized with the cattle which demonstrates the level with which the Christians thought of them as, He captured Moorish men and Moorish women, and all the cattle being herded out (Pg.33). They only listen to the voice of Christianity and all others are subordinate and need to be defeated. Religious intolerance is not only depicted by El Cid. Hildegard also insinuates her intolerance towards other religions as well. Hildegard s letter all show her reliance and praise on God. Through her visions she is able to share his wisdom and knowledge of the holy church. Her letter to Bernard of Clairvaux provides the beginning of her ideas of intolerance. Bernard of Clairvaux was a leading supporter behind the Second Crusade. The crusades are directly correlated to intolerance. Although, writing to him does not necessarily suggest that she is intolerant towards other religions, the statements that she says in her letter signify her support of the movement. In later letters, she continues her appeal to the people she is writing too, that Christianity is the religion that they must follow and she can help them with her visions. She suggests to the people who seek her help, that God is the answer to all of their problems. They can be saved through the power of God and she can help them achieve the answers they are looking for since she has a connection with God.

I definitely did not have a concrete definition of what quality was or stood for. It simply seemed as though quality was something that worked most of the time. After the studies from this course I have a much better grasp of how to define qualityand what exactly quality means in various areas of life and business. For instance, the 11 Baldrige Principles of Quality are an easily used metric for defining the quality of an organization. For instance, I now purchase many products from the Newman s Own brand based on the principles I have mentioned. They have a strong sense of societal responsibility and ensure 100% of profits to charity is an underlying theme in all they do (Newman s Own, n.d.). This drew me towards them as a company, then I noticed how much they value their employees and how their core values tend to line up with the 11 Baldrige principles (Newman s Own, n.d.). After looking into this company and seeing how they operate, I decided to purchase as many products as I could from them and ensure other people were aware of their mission. After the Space race began in the late 1950 s countries began sending satellites into space for various purposes. Today these Satellites are very important to everyday life, but there is a looming problem that has often been overlooked. Low Earth orbit, where most satellites and spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of many old and decaying satellites. Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in space and could eventually make low Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi paper I am currently working on is a story about a group of astronauts in the near future who are returning from mining an asteroid. In this story it is much like the moon landings in that people were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now. These are just routine missions that hardly anyone knows or cares about. This all changes however when two satellites in high orbit on Earth collide, one being a communication satellite with the astronauts. The unaware astronauts, now returning to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is hit. Now adrift in space the astronauts struggle to survive in the most hostile environment for humans. There are over five hundred

Cetaceans use echolocation to make sense of their world and has only recently been of concern due to the ability of dolphins to locate objects and discriminate objects based on size, shape, and composition (Akamatsu, Nakaqawa, Hatakeyama, 1995). Any disturbance in the form of sound pollution could cause these cetaceans to mass strand because they are so dependent on sound as their principal sense (Nowacek et al. 2007). Sound travels very efficiently underwater and so impacted areas can affect thousands of square kilometers out. Most of the sound pollution in the ocean come from underwater explosions caused by sonar, seismic testing caused by oil and gas industries, or underwater sea quakes through natural events. The anthropogenic noises can cause deep diving populations like beaked whales to be threatened and abandon their habitat and surface rapidly. Exposure to anthropogenic sounds negatively affect deep diving cetaceans (Cox et al. 2006). There are a number of hypotheses for the injuries in the cetaceans that stranded in areas of sonar exercises like decompression sickness and behavioral

First, the Wright brothers are known as the creators of the airplane. They are believed to be the inventors of the machine for the most part of the world. The brothers created a prototype that was able fly with the help of a catapult, in other words, the machine could just float. It could not put itself in the by using self propulsion. This can be observed by the disappearance of two Q bands out of four as the porphyrin undergoes the change from D4h symmetry to D2h symmetry (Rita Giovannetti, 2012). The Q bands were denoted as О± and ОІ. The coordination of porphyrin to Ni(II), Sn(IV) or Pd(II) which can form stable square planar complexes generally consists of a higher О± peak (Figure 2.7 (A)), while the coordination of porphyrin to Cd(II) which forms a complex that can easily be displaced by protons will show a higher ОІ peak (Figure 2.7(B)). The common solvents and counter ions employed in the synthesis metalloporphyrin are chloroform, methanol, dimethylforamide, acetate buffer, pyridine, metal carbonyl and acetylacetone. In general, the selection of solvent depends on the solubility of porphyrin. For example, the chloroform was selected for metallation of meso tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) due to the solubility of TPP in chloroform. Not only if Moira will go to college in the upcoming year but also which campus she will attend.Through this narrative, Valgardson suggests that when parents provide copious amounts of security, conflict will arise and children will rebel; only when a balance is found between security and allowing independence will the relationship be harmonious.
