The 19th century had sparked a time period of bloody revolution, social and political reform, and both
economic and financial problems for China. Though the cause of many of these problems could be
rooted to internal conflict, foreign influence on Chinese ways proved to be disastrous. During the early
19th century the population was growing, the economy seemed stable and generally people seemed
content with China s economic progress. However these feelings of success would soon end as

A Controversy With The Name The Washington Redskins are a professional American football team
that is based out of Washington area and currently play at FedEx Field in Maryland. In 1932, the name
Boston Braves emerged when the football program began to arise. The following year, the name the
Boston Redskins replaced the original name of the Boston Braves. In 1937, the team changed
locations to Washington, thus making their current team name the Washington Redskins.
Unfortunately, a problem arose around the 1990 s when the Native American people began to feel
disrespected . The reason the Native American people have such hatred for the team is due to the fact
that it portrays and offends the Natives skin color with the name, Redskin. The Washington Redskins
debate plays a significant role in professional sports team history due to the demoralization amongst
Native American Society. Factors that contribute to this debate include, but are not limited to; religion,
economics, and politics.
The Native American people have a tenacious opinion on whether the Washington Redskins team
should change their name due to its derogatory meaning. According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary,
the word Redskin is defined as Native American, but is specifically stated to be Usually Offensive
(Merriam Webster). The Native Americans deeply thought that the names, symbols, and mascots were
completely disrespectful,

Genetic Research And Its Effects On The Human Bodies
Abstract This study helps us to understand what we need to know about companies owning specific
portions of DNA sequences that exist in our own human bodies. The basis of genetic research and the
idea of owning a gene were brought to light over 150 years ago when the Supreme Court ruled that
you could not own human nature, but over time the advancement of scientific research and technology
made genetic research and its findings more accessible. Genetic researchers were able to find genes
that can help cure disease and could identify cancerous genes in humans. With companies being able
to find these genes, they wanted to have chance to make money off of them; from tests for being
applicable to cancer, disease, or any other medical problem. This became an issue because of how
there are only few companies that you can go through for the test of that specific gene; they are a
monopoly. Since the late 1990 s, people have begun to protest the right to own a gene in a human
body and are wanting the companies to forfeit their rights of the ownership. This creates tensions
because of the abundant amount of money associated with the gene. This makes the company come
off as a negative aspect toward the next step in scientific discoveries. This study concludes that it is in
the best interest of humans to make companies that own genes go to the Supreme Court in order to
fight to protect ourselves against genetic monopolies, and to further develop scientific and
