Cultural Awareness Of Saudi Arabia
Cultural Awareness Of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia, located in the middle east, takes up most of the Arabian Peninsula. This deeply rooted
country, in comparison to Western culture, is different in many ways. Culture is defined as a
civilization s way of life, their beliefs, morals, laws, and customs. Similarly to how American citizens
follow the rules and regulations laid out in the constitution, the Saudi Arabian citizens use the Koran
as their constitution. The people of Saudi Arabia culturally identify as Muslim and Arab, which links
them to millions of people beyond their borders. Originating from a hot desert climate, these people ...

Mecca is the holiest place in the Islamic world, just like Vatican City is the holiest place for
Christians. The people in this city watch television, use cell phones and use the internet regularly just
like everyone else. As these people lived in Saudi Arabia s harsh climate, they have adapted and
thrived, creating thousands of years of rich history.
The people of Islam have customs and courtesies that differ from western culture, and some ways they
are similar. The rules of Islam govern every part of a Saudi Arabian citizens life, whether it s political,
personal, or business matters. Absolutely no business occurs on Friday, which is a Muslim holy day,
and most businesses close on Thursday, making the weekend Thursday and Friday. Greetings are
similar to western culture, but if someone were to do the wrong thing they can find themselves in quite
a bit of trouble. For example; when greeting men, they will shake hands, and if they are close friends
or family, they will also add a kiss to the cheek. It is highly frowned upon for men and women to greet
in public. Even in situations of business practices, women aren t allowed to extend a hand to be
shaken. Islamic dietary laws forbid the consumption of pork and alcoholic beverages and are enforced
throughout Saudi Arabia. The punishment for drinking, trading, producing, and smuggling is severe.
Those caught supplying alcohol to Saudis will receive the harshest punishments. Foreigners

My Family Is Not The Typical Caucasian Family Dynamic
As with any family, ours is not the typical Caucasian family dynamic. We began with my husband as
the traditional breadwinner while I was finishing my college education. It was planned that we both
would be working in careers before we discovered I was pregnancy with our first son. Three months
later my spouse would suffer a great tragedy and was no longer able to walk, much less work. I would
have to take on the role of not only breadwinner, but also caregiver and mother within the next year.
Our family does not have the duel career supporting parents as suggested in the text regarding our
ethnic statistics.
Some similarities that our family has had with our African American ethnic families is that of the
maintaining and strong ties to our extended family, as stated in our text. Our families have often
pooled resources in order to support each other. My spouse and I have welcomed members into our
home when they were struggling to find work. Our house guests have ranged from: his brother, my
brother, nephews, and even a great nephew. Some of them have lived with us a few months, others
have stayed a few years. My spouse s sister lives with her husband, his brother, and one of her
daughters. While my mother lives with her cohabitant, my brother, and his daughter. My grandparents
raised not only their four children, my brother and myself, as well as my two cousins in their home.
Another similarity that our family has with our African Americans would be the high

Telehealth Technology In Healthcare
Telehealth is a newer form of healthcare that is presenting a positive impact on patients health and on
healthcare costs. Telehealth covers a range of technology from mobile device use to physician to
physician or physician to patient consults through video to assessing a patient physically who is in a
different state or country. This type of technology is becoming an acceptable form of healthcare for
patients, providers and insurers. Telehealth is improving the outcomes for patients while decreasing
the costs of healthcare. Physician offices as well as hospitals are diving deeper into this type of care.
The ability to monitor patients remotely saves time and money for the patient but also decreases visits
to the hospital. In 2012 it was reported that 308,000 patients around the world utilized remote
monitoring for: hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease and mental health conditions. PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) estimated in 2009 that
utilization of remote monitoring could reduce healthcare costs by $197 billion dollars by 2025. PWC
also found that one out of two respondents surveyed were open to utilizing technology for healthcare.
The Veteran s Administrator s telehealth program showed that utilization of health systems was
reduced by 30% for those enrolled in the telehealth program. (Thomas Hertz, 2013) ... Show more

with an additional 34% offering this type of care in 2016 or 2017. (Smith,

Essay On Institutional Incarceration
ncreased rates of incarceration came with growing rates of institutional violence and major
disturbances within U.S. correctional institutions have resulted in increased importance being placed
on the development of accurate and efficient correctional risk classification methods. In the current
study, institutional infractions were tracked from correctional intake for 17,054 male and female
incarcerated offenders. In order to allow observation of problematic behaviors, institutional infractions
were put into categories based on an inmate s ability to be physically aggressive, verbally aggressive
or defiant, and nonviolent infractions. After analysis and examination of inmates, there were several
occurrences with dynamic situations that took place. Institutional violence and misconduct was
examined during these times, as well. Information was taken into consideration during these
investigations. The information consisted of individuals, age, gang ... Show more content on

federal and state correctional institutions (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2004). According to these
authors, rates of incarceration have steadily increased at an average rate of 3.4% per year since 1995,
requiring most federal and state institutions to operate at or above capacity. The overage has placed
increased pressure on prison officials to efficiently classify newly incarcerated offenders. (Caperton,
Edens, Johnson, 2004). Balancing efficiency, accuracy, and cost, inmate classification procedures
influence most aspects of an individual s incarceration, including housing decisions, special services
such as mental health services, rehabilitation strategies, institutional privileges, management
strategies, and security level (Clements, 1996; Loza
Loza Fanous, 2002; Proctor, 1994; Van Voorhis Brown, 1996; Wang Diamond,
1999). Inmate classification is extremely important in which every aspect of an institution operates.

Theory Of Property Rights By Harold Demsetz
Theory of Property Rights By Harold Demsetz (UChicago)
The concept and role of property rights
It this first part, Demsetz offers a more theoretical foundation for the concepts he will use in the
following parts. The author starts defining the idea of property rights and differentiating how they
transmit the right to benefit or harm oneself or others. After, he links it with the recognition a close
relationship between property rights and externalities. The process of Internalizing such effects refers
to a change in property rights, that enables these effects to bear (in greater degree) on all interacting
persons. They become part of the economy.
The example of the military draft is used later to show how the costs of internalization have to be
higher to its gains. The lower the cost the greater the number of transactions and the degree to which
they take place.
Lastly, in this section, Demsetz defines the framework of his analysis, what would happen if
transaction costs of internalizing were zero? There are two main implications, on the first one he states
that the output mix is efficient for all players involved. Secondly, that the mix is independent of who is
assigned the ownership.

After the theoretical framework, we can read how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Steve Jobs Essay
Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in Los Altos, California. He is Co founder, Chairman, and
former CEO of Apple Inc. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak high school friends and both college
dropouts joined together to start Apple Computer in 1976. They are credited for inventing the first
computer for home use. They made it possible for people to have a computer anywhere in their home,
or on an office desk, where previously a single computer took up a whole room. There creation
changed the world. However Steve Jobs didn t change what was in the products but how they looked,
functioned, and what they meant.

He didn t only pay attention to what was in his products but what they looked like and what they
meant to his buyers. That is how he changed the world, not with what his products have in them, all of
the components of his products are the same as any other out there, but with how they look and what
they make easier in our lives. No one goes out and says oh I m going to buy a MP3 player that s only
29.00$, they re going to want to buy Apples iPod even if they have the same software. When you buy
an apple product you re not just buying the actual product your buying what the product represents.
Job s ability to take what he wants in a phone, portable music device, and computer and make it real
and wanted by the masses is a gift.
In conclusion, Steve Jobs changed the world not only with the invention of the Apple II in 76 which
was in collaboration with Steve Wozniak, but with how he thinks. When Job s thinks of the next big
thing in technology he thinks about what he would want. He makes products that make life easier,

Reflection In Night By Elie Wiesel
In this eye opening book, Night by Elie Wiesel, it became very obvious that, not only his view on the
world, but his view on others and himself changed dramatically throughout the book. He changed
mentally and became stronger in the mind, the things he went through had changed his whole body,
leaving scars and showing his rib cage from lack of food, and his beliefs in God and humanity. His
human right on how he wanted to grow up was taken from him and instead he was handed the brink of
life or death, along with his father, who was constantly on the edge of death. He often questioned the
fact that God was on their side, given the fact that he and thousands more were tortured, beaten, and
killed everyday. He also questioned why God would want them to go through this; was it to make
them stronger people... or did God just want them to suffer? In the Shmoop video, it states that, Not
only can our bodies be tortured, but our souls as well. Elie Wiesel goes through absolute hell everyday
and survives it. He was beaten and hurt multiple times by the people watching over them. He was
tortured physically. But, he also had to watch his own father decay and struggle. Elie went through so
much emotional struggles in the beginning of the book, but later on he started to lose the ability to cry,
for he was all out of tears to spare. He became stronger in the mind and heart. On page 22, it says that
Elie cried when he prayed, showing that he had emotions just as everyone

How Much Is It Costing You to Breath Comfortably
How Much Is It Costing You to Breath Comfortably
It is hard to imagine how life would be without air conditioners. Before these electronic devices came,
people used to keep large masses of ice to cool the place. When air conditioners were invented, their
capacity was measured depending relative to the amount of ice melted in a day. This is where the word
a ton of cooling came to be. A small home air conditioner is able to deliver two tons of cooling with a
larger one about five tons. A ton is expressed as 12,000 BTUs per hour (British Thermal Units). A
good air conditioner is able to maintain the indoor environment in the desired temperature.
Unlike many other electrical devices, a conditioner needs several aspects to run properly. If ... Show

Others have dealership agreements with service firms who repair certain models. It is recommended
that you use authorised professional technicians if any around your area. If none, it would be prudent
that you research for the best qualified technical team for your repairs. Visit manufacture and air
conditioning installer websites and seek for good deals by contacting them. Most of them offer free
quotes for both new installation and repairs.
Major repair areas
1. Filters
Every air conditioner has a grill like or shiny paper compartment upstream an evaporator that filters
dirt particles from getting to the cooling unit. With time, filters are filled with dirt particles reducing
airflow to the main system. This forces the conditioner to work harder. In addition, a dirty filter is also
a source of air pollution into your house. You could have filters changed or cleaned every six months
or less depending on quality of outdoor area.
2. Air ducts
Air ducts transfer conditioned air across the building. When the ducts start leaking, you stand to lose
up to fifty percent of your energy. This is because the system tries to compensate for the loss. Where
air ducts pass to the outside, you need to have them well insulated. A professional contractor can help
free up to a half a ton of your conditioner s capacity by sealing the ducts.
3. Condensing unit
This is the outside compartment of the air conditioner. You need

Fear And Bravery, By Neil Gaiman s Coraline And Lois...
Fear and bravery often go hand in hand in children s fantasy literature, in which the child protagonist
must overcome their fears in order to earn their bravery and save the day. With this in mind, Neil
Gaiman s Coraline and Lois Lowry s The Giver are no exception to said rule. In Gaiman s Coraline,
the young protagonist must save her parents from the clutches of the evil Other Mother in the
fantastical Other World that sits in Coraline s own home. Whereas in Lowry s The Giver, young Jonas
must find a way to escape his frightening community which prides itself on conformity, or sameness
as Lowry notes in the novel. Although the conditions in which the child protagonists in both novel
face vary quite drastically from one another, both children must face their fears in a fantastical world
that in essence, encourages and empowers them through the means of individualism and identity, fear,
and ultimately courage. In her article, Susan G. Lea notes that the secondary worlds created in fantasy
encourages [one] to compare and contrast the real world with the imaginary. In this way, fantasy as a
genre can be transformative (51). In Gaiman s Coraline, it is the fantasy world known as Other World
that encourages Coraline to distinguish the real world from the imaginary and allows her to essentially
discover herself. For instance, throughout the novel Coraline is constantly being called the wrong
name but her real world neighbours. A name is a powerful tool in establishing

A company or its product/ services which constantly holds a favorable image by the public, would
definitely gain a better position in the market, sustainable competitive advantage, and increase market
share or performance (Park, Jaworski, MacInnis, 1986).
In addition, several empirical findings have confirmed that a favorable image (i.e. brand, store/retail)
will lead to loyalty (e.g. Koo, 2003; Kandampully Suhartanto, 2000; Nguyen LeBlanc, 1998), brand
equity (Faircloth, Capella, Alford, 2001; Biel, 1992; Aaker, 1991; Keller, 1993), purchase behavior

Reynolds (1965) noted that an image is the mental construct developed by the consumer on the basis
of a few selected impressions among the flood of the total impressions; it comes into being through a
creative process in which these selected impressions are elaborated, embellished, and ordered (p. 69).

addition to the opportunity that Sony has to take advantage of the networking aspect, Sony must

key points
Unless you are weighing a pride for life, the fastest way to increase your competence in power lifting
is to get fat leaner if you lose.
After that, you should strive to get into the greatest weight class that you can achieve while
maintaining a good body structure.
When you go up to weight classes, it may be less competitive for you for one or two years while
acquiring muscle but in general a weight class will be more competitive in heavy in the long run.
Most people should not depend on water cut to make weight, but if you cut water, you should not cut 2

Cement, Neopolymer and Similar Compositions
2. Conventional cement
The function of cement is for isolating production zone and to provide support for the casing
[11].Portland cement is made up of calcium oxide (CaO), silicon dioxide (SiO) and water (H2O)
which the composition of calcium carbonate is around 75 80 wt% and 20 25 wt% of clay [7],[14]..
Compressive strength of Portland cement is developed through hydration. Hydration is chemical
reaction between water and cement compound. The rheology and early strength of cement is
developed from reaction of aluminate compound at the beginning of hydration. Rate of hydration can
be control by adding gypsum. It is for preventing the premature hardening of cement. Gypsum will
react with aluminate and hydroxyl ion to form ettrigate. Ettrigate will prevent hydration process by
forming needle shaped crystal on the aluminate and creating induction period [11].
Some addictive can be added to the cement to enhance the properties of cement. There are accelerator,
retarder, extender, weighting agent, dispersant, fluid loss control agent and loss circulation agent [11].
Accelerator Use to speed up the early stages of hydration. Applicable in shallow well.
Retarder Inhibit hydration and slow the setting time of cement. Applicable in deep well.
Extender Reduce slurry density, thus reduce the hydrostatic pressure during cementing operation.
Extender use to prevent break down and loss of circulation of weak formation.

Writing about my feelings and problems down on a piece of paper, takes out the pressure I have.
Writing a essay is way different, I thought so, because I always have trouble of getting the
requirements right or my creativeness is not in there. As I grow older and advance more in high
school, I started to see a pattern about my problems about writing essays. My grammar and
punctuation are really bad but I gotten better, as long as I reread my essay over a few times, it ll get

I would read out loud and try to read it as clear as possible, sometimes I would pretend to be the

Federal Education Policy
According to Bredekamp (2014), Federal education policy is often designed to hold schools
accountable for educating every child and to close the achievement gap between groups of children
(p.183). Federal policies have many affects on child development. There are certain policies that
mandate that schools are held accountable for students test scores. Teachers and staff are expected to
reform their curriculums in order to raise scores. Not only do the policies have an effect on children,
but the teachers as well. Within the policies protocols and standards are created to ensure that children
learn through experiences and critical thinking to attain academic enhancement. For policymakers, it
is important to promote healthy development, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mr. Dodge s Racist Stereotypes
Mr.Dodge uses his authority and exploits Arnold s ethnicity to disrespect and humiliate Arnold. Mr.
Dodge knows the conditions in the reservation how that affects the schools and the education there.
This means he views our main character as intellectually inferior compared to his peers and himself
too. But rather than motivating Arnold to succeed and break barriers, he uses this knowledge as
ammunition to demean Arnold to save face. Mr.Dodge is more concerned with how he appears and
uses his authority to perpetuate the racist stereotype of Native Americans being dim. In a classroom,

Rowdy has taken a comical route to explain and almost shrug off the incidents. He says his bruises are

of domestic abuse, about has become normalized for Rowdy and he doesn t think much of it. So
referring his bruises to cultural war paint shows that for Rowdy to be an Indian means to have a

Why Juicing Should Be Allowed In College
Well you guys.. I completed day one of juicing. But, I didn t technically juice the entire day. Why?
Because I was so scared. Honestly!
So at night time, around 7:30 I do a HIIT kickboxing class for one hour. It is by far the most intense,
yet amazing, workout I have ever experienced. I do it four times a week and honestly wish I could do
it more than that but I can t on Thursdays because I work late and there are no classes on the weekend.
Anyways, a few times while doing my HIIT classes, I have gotten light headed... and that is with
eating well balanced meals throughout the day. So yesterday when it came time to juicing, I
remembered that I had HIIT later that day and got nervous that I would pass out. Therefore, I didn t
technically juice for all my meals.
Instead, I juiced for breakfast and lunch followed by an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do plan on juicing for my first two meals and having a solid dinner on days where I am doing HIIT.
However, on days where I am not doing the class, I will have a breakfast and juice for my last two
meals.
It may not make total sense, but I find that this is what is working for me!
Also, if you don t know, I have really bad issues for my digestive system and my stomach is very
intolerable to a lot of foods which makes bloating like second nature to my body. One of my friends
talked to me about a tea called Tiny Tea Teatox and I further researched it and decided to buy a
months worth of it! From what I understand it aids in detoxing your body as well as regulating your
digestive system. It should arrive next Tuesday so I will also keep you guys posted on how it s
working out for me! Hopefully this will be the miracle item I have been looking for!
Hope you all are having an amazing 13th! It s my lucky number ;)
Leave a comment down below of what you think about juicing! Also, do you tend to eat more or less
during high intensity workout days?

Women s Contribution to the War Effort and Their Gain in Voting Rights
Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918. There were a number of reasons for this but mainly because
of women s contribution to the war effort. I will be looking at these different reasons and writing
about how everything came together for the vote for women. I will start by looking at what the women
did in the war.
Women were pleased by the outbreak of the war because this meant they could prove themselves and
even get suffrage at the end of it all. Women thought this was a patriotic duty and wanted to prove
they were indispensable. So many men had been called away to fight that women were needed to do
their jobs. As a result, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to this there were major effects on the way men thought about women.
There were many effects that were caused by the war. Politicians like Asquith and Lloyd George
changed their mind about women because of the way women handled affairs while men were giving
women the vote in 1918. Old arguments about women being weak had been disproved by women
during the war. Parliament had to change the voting system so that all soldiers could vote. In 1913
nearly half of all men still could not vote. There were other factors of why women over 30 gained the
vote in 1918.
Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918 not only because of women s contribution to the war; there
were a few other reasons for women over 30 gaining the vote in 1918. After the war all men were
getting the vote so it was more difficult to ignore the women. The government thought that the women
s suffrage organisation would cease this opportunity to cause a revolution and unsettle Britain, but this
wasn t the case and it impressed the government at how co operative women were being. In 1915 the
government realised it had a problem. The old voting system demanded that voters live on the same
place for the twelve months before an election. So if there were to be an election during the war, most

Insanity In Drunk Driving
The Definition of Insanity
The definition of insanity is continuing to do the same action over and over and expecting a different
result. For example, George Santayana states Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to
repeat it. (Clairmont) We all have experienced some sort of situation in which alcohol was involved.
Victims of drunk driving situations have a very long and tough grieving process in which some
individuals wish to forget entirely. On the other hand, referring back to the quote, we cannot forget the
past or someone will be doomed to repeat it. However, some situations involving alcohol end in a
more a serious outcome, such as life altering disability or even death. Although, the first offence of
driving under the influence can be the last. With this being said, there are plenty of repeat offenders of
driving while under the influence (DUI) that continue to put other people in harm s way as they
repeated getting behind the wheel with a BAC of .15. These repeat offenders do not always have
serious or fatal outcomes with their actions, and continue to forget the lives they are putting at risk.
The total amount of lives lost to DUI and the large majority of repeat offenders needs an improvement
with reforms such as laws tightening the noose on recidivate offenders, stronger punishment for
controlling the nations DUI problems, and better enforcement of the no tolerance policy.
Every fifty one minutes there is an alcohol impaired driving accident. This

The Battle Of Saratoga And The American Revolution
Between 1765 1783 the American Revolution had many different battles that affected its ending
results. One of these battles were the Battle of Saratoga which had a major effect on the American
Revolution. This battle displayed the Americans power to the French, convincing them to join the war
with the Americans. France supplied the American with their advanced weaponry, financial help, and
anything for them to win the war. The Battle of Saratoga became to be known as a major turning point
that changed the course of the American Revolution as it showed that the American army led by
Horatio Gates had resilience to keep up with the British army and then defeat them, even though the
British were thought to have the higher advantage in weaponry, discipline, and economy. This battle
was a key reason for the Americans win in the American Revolution.
In January 28, 1777, the British general John Burgoyne decided to make a plan to isolate New
England from all other colonies forcing the Americans to surrender. His idea was that trying to
isolating New England would separate the American army from their necessities such as their supplies
and economy, and politics in the southern colonies (Battle of Saratoga 1). Burgoyne s plan was to
advance with three columns to meet up in New York. The first column was Burgoyne who led an army
from the south, the second column would be led by Colonel St. Leger who started from Canada. The
last column then would be led by General Howe who

Descriptive Essay About Life
The Transformation
Anywhere you go can create memories, but can also become a part of you in one way or another.
Some of those places may have had an impact on a person s life that changed him or her as a person.
For others, some places may have a special meaning, teaching, or maybe because the best memories
were made in that special place. For me, the best memories and the one place that I always remember
is Woodburn Oregon. This city has so many good, happy, and bad memories that I still remember.
These memories bring back my childhood and how my perspective of life changed. As a young child,
growing up in Woodburn Oregon during the summer, I learned to not only appreciate everything I
have, but to also work hard to be successful.
Woodburn is a very beautiful, happy, and peaceful city that is full of nature. The city is surrounded by
amazing trees, buildings, flowers, parks, and much more. The city also has great restaurants, theaters,
museums and arcades. Woodburn also has amazing views and has great agricultural lands filled with
flowers such as, colorful tulips, and roses. I remember going by a land filled with bright yellow and
red tulips. As I was passing by, I remember smelling the sweet smell of the flowers and the fresh air.
The cold winds would make the flowers move, letting the sweat fragrance out and making the air
smell good. Now everytime I see a tulip, it reminds me of the huge lands filled with tulips. Woodburn
is a place in which most of the time it

The Importance of Color in Toni Morrison s Beloved Essay
The Importance of Color in Toni Morrison s Beloved
Toni Morrison s Beloved a novel that addresses the cruelties that result from slavery. Morrison depicts
the African American s quest for a new life while showing the difficult task of escaping the past. The
African American simply wants to claim freedom and create a sense of community. In Beloved, the
characters suffer not from slavery itself, but as a result of slavery that is to say the pain occurs as they
reconstruct themselves, their families, and their communities only after the devastation of slavery
(Kubitschek 115). Throughout the novel, Morrison utilizes color as a symbolic tool to represent a free,

In his journey North, Paul D would scan the horizon for a flash of pink or white...[or] blossoming
plums (Morrison 113). By having Paul D search for colorful flowers, Morrison illustrates Paul D s
desire for a life full of safety, enjoyment, and freedom.
Just as Paul D desires a better life after slavery, so does Baby Suggs. As a slave, Suggs was suppressed
and did not experience the type of life she desired. Morrison indirectly demonstrates this by purposely
leaving out any descriptions of color in Suggs s life when she was a slave. Morrison uses this absence
of color to express that Suggs had lived the life which she had longed for. She did not experience
independence, freedom, safety nor a sense of community when she was a slave. However, after she
was sold, she searched for color, or the life that she had wanted. For, she had never had time to see, let
alone enjoy it before (Morrison 201). Enjoying every color that she could, trying to compensate for
the time wasted as a slave, Suggs retreated to her room and concentrated on color. It took her a long
time to finish with blue, then yellow then green (Morrison 201). Making explicit the absence of color
while Suggs was a slave and then describing the way she relished the colors of her newly acquired
freedom, Morrison conveys Suggs s fulfillment of the life she had longed to have when she was a
slave. Finally, as her life ended, Suggs was happy with the freedom, sense of

The Cocktail Waitress, James Spradley And Brenda Mann Essay
Historically, anthropologists have focused their research on foreign cultures, often considered exotic
to westerners. Yet, globalization has created a continuously shrinking world and is increasingly
providing sovereignty for developing nations, which may impede research opportunities for modern
anthropologists. In their book, The Cocktail Waitress, James Spradley and Brenda Mann explained
how this semi recent issue threatens trust and acceptance in these foreign communities and obstructs
unique opportunities and research funding. Luckily, there are countless subcultures in America s back
yard, in which most are eternally evolving, providing a multitude of research opportunities for
anthropologists. Alcohol establishments are home to a plethora of subcultures that display clashing
and harmonious interactions enjoyable for even the untrained human observers. Noticeably, bars
contain the local regulars, occasional boozers, business men, college students, and multiple others, all
there for a common goal, leisure. Whether the responsible sober driver, moderate drinker, or
completely inebriated, every patron has exchanged workday courtesies for uninhibited behaviors.
Additionally, lounges often exhibit social interactions between men and women which provide
ethnographers opportunity to study the cultural roles considered masculine or feminine within our
society and subcultures. Formerly, women employed in alcohol establishments were prohibited from

Awareness of the business need to change is a critical ingredient of any change and must come first. If
someone had taken the time to explain that the old software would no longer be supported by the

Craft Of Memo Writing
The recommendations from the readings on memo writing share many similarities and some
differences that are beneficial, but depend on the type of memo being created. For example all the
readings agree on the importance of using evidence to fortify arguments and recommendations to the
receiver of the memo. In The Craft of Memo Writing by Robert Behn, he writes that the author of a
memo must ask themselves if their sentences makes sense, and if they are addressing the flaws in the
core idea, of their argument. Behn argues that evidence is needed to create an effective policy memo

The State Of The Texas Education Policy
The current state of the Texas education policy is very complex and its roots can be traced all the way
back to times were there was no equality in the public school system, we can even say it can be traced
as far back to the state s split from Mexico. This was a very problematic situation that began to be
reformed heavily starting in 1954. The legislations that passed to resolve this problem have morphed
the Texas Public education policy into what it is today.
It was because of the split from Mexico that Texas created the Constitution of the Republic of Texas,
which included a clause in it that established a public school system, but it wasn t successful in

While the Texas public school system may not be segregated now it took a lot of court cases to get

Raiders to Los Angeles, he pulled away from some of sport s most loyal fans and also hurt his football
team. The NFL s Colts and Cardinals have also had failures on the field since their moves. These three
teams are proof that all the greed that was put into the moving of their franchises hasn t brought them
more success or in some cases less success. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;In every move there are two
sides to the politics. There are the teams themselves and there are the cities that fight to keep them. In
May 1991, Sharon Pratt Dixon, Mayor of Washington, D.C. said, We re going to do whatever it takes
to keep the Redskins here. Sports has become an industry, and to the extent that we can guarantee jobs
for the District residents, we will do whatever it takes, including building the stadium ourselves
(Euchner 1), this is one view of how a city official fights for a team. The other viewpoint is from the
side of the team owner, Al Davis, managing general partner of the Raiders said, just build it (Euchner

Theme Of Katherina In The Taming Of The Shrew
In the Taming Of The Shrew, William Shakespeare directs Katherina to undergo a dramatic attitude
and personality change throughout the course of her marriage to Petruchio. In the time of the play,
women were expected to be loyal and obedient. Katherina began by challenging and contradicting that
perception, yet still gives into the demands of society and Petruchio by the conclusion of the play.
Petruchio humiliates and starves her, which shows his dominance in their relationship and eventually
persuades Katherina to give in to him and how he wants her to act. Through the portrayal of Petruchio
s character, Shakespeare shows how women were treated badly and abused in mental, physical and
emotional ways by their husbands in the Shakespearean times. In various ways, Petruchio tames
Katherina and as the play ends, it becomes evident that she is now a normal wife for the
Shakespearean era. On Petruchio s wedding day, he instigates his first technique to tame Katherina by
humiliating her in the public eye. Before the two characters have even been legally wedded, Petruchio
already begins his process of taming Katherina, the wretched shrew . He does this at the day of the
wedding, by arriving late enough that everyone starts to worry whether or not Petruchio will arrive for
his own wedding. The guests perceive Katherina to have no emotions because she is thought to be a
shrew and so laugh at her when he arrives late. Now must the world point at poor Katherine, and say

A Study Of Adhesion And The Entry Of Magnetite Nanoparticles
We present experimental and theoretical results from a study of adhesion and the entry of magnetite
nanoparticles (MNP) into MDA MB 231 breast cancer cells. The adhesion between Luteinizing
Hormone Releasing Hormone (LHRH) and breast cancer cells is studied using an atomic force
microscopy (AFM) technique. The adhesion force between LHRH coated AFM tips and MDA MB
231 breast cancer cells is shown to be about twice that between bare/uncoated AFM tips and breast
cancer cells, while the adhesion force between LHRH MNP coated AFM tips is also approximately
twice as much as that between MNP coated AFM tips and breast cancer cells. The increased adhesion
of the LHRH coated tips suggests that LHRH can be used as a molecular recognition unit for ... Show

It is also the leading cause of cancer death in women aged from 20 to 59 years old [1]. These alarming
statistics arise from the fact that there are limitations in both current detection and treatment methods
[2 5]. Advancements are, therefore, needed in early detection, to increase survival rates and improve
clinical outcomes [6]. In addition, localized treatments are needed to overcome the side effects that are
associated with current breast cancer therapies [7]. One of the specific targeting receptors for human
breast cancer cells is Luteinizing Hormone Releasing Hormone (LHRH). Approximately 52% of
human breast cancers express binding sites for LHRH receptors [8]. With LHRH coated magnetite
nanoparticles, studies have shown that the specific interaction between LHRH receptors and its
ligands can be used for the targeting of breast cancer cells. This can be use to enhance the early
detection of breast cancer and its metastasis [6, 9, 10]. Furthermore, the specific receptor ligand
interaction between LHRH and LHRH receptors can be used to facilitate the attachment of LHRH
conjugated magnetite nanoparticles to breast cancer cells. This can be used as a contrast agent to
enhance the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of breast tumor sites and their metastases [6, 11].
Magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) have attracted a great deal of attention in recent years. Their potential
applications in cancer research, including areas

How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Julius Caesar
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, is a drama
based on historically accurate events. The protagonist of the play, Julius Caesar, is a political leader in
Rome who influences the gullible citizens into thinking he could be a powerful king. After winning a
battle against Pompey, Caesar is seen as a hero. However, the senators have always been jealous of the
power the protagonist had. Caesar is warned about the Ides of March by a plethora of hints; however,
deception impacts Caesar and the prophecy comes true. The protagonist is assassinated by the plot of
the conspirators. Deception has a large impact on the characters of the play and creates betrayals,
divides, and dishonesty. The first important deceptive action is when Cassius deceives Brutus and
Casca to join the conspiracy against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The American Liberal Democratic Values Essay
American Liberal Democratic Values
I. The definitions of democracy and liberalism
Liberalism and democracy are two different concepts, liberalism is a political philosophy which is
based on the principle of individual freedom, it calls for guarantees of the rights of the individual,
including freedom from arbitrary authority, freedom of religion, the right to own and exchange private
property, rights to equal opportunity in health care, education, and employment, and the rights to
political participation and representation. While democracy is a set of political procedures involving
participation and competition. Most democracies are liberal democracies to some degree. because
political participation, competition, and accountability are perhaps the best guarantees that individual
freedoms will be preserved, thus the terms liberal and democracy often go hand in hand.
II. Liberal democracy the U.S. goal
U.S. policies aim to boost the spread of liberal democratic values. In the nineteenth century, the U.S.
didn t play an important role in global governance, as the geographical reach of the United States
political influence expanded, liberal democracy promotion turned into a major part of U.S. foreign
policy, the aim of promoting democracy abroad had been a core element in how the United States
exercises its international power. Moral Universalism , introduced by America s project of liberalism
during the twentieth century, is an ideology based on the liberal

operating on a tight budget and trying to keep your carbon footprint low. It is in fact amongst the most
energy efficient appliances in its class, so it is a top of the range choice.

What Is Auschwitz Concentration Camp Dehumanization
When the Jews were put into concentration camps, they were treated poorly and dehumanized.
Although every camp was bad, Jews suffered the most cruelty in Auschwitz. The Auschwitz
concentration camp was the deadliest camp. In 1940, Auschwitz was built in the city of Oswiecim
(Auschwitz Birkenau: History Overview). During the beginning, the camp was originally used to
simply scare Poles who disagreed with the German Rule. It later became the general network for all of
the concentration camps. The camp had an immense display and could hold numerous inmates.
Together this complex was the largest of all the Nazi death camps across Europe and could hold
upwards of 150,000 inmates at any given time (Auschwitz Birkenau: History Overview). Inside

Cultural Awareness Of Saudi Arabia Cultural Awareness Of Saudi Arabia By: SGT Farrier, Benjamin W. 13B30 ALC Class 507 17 SGL: SSG Avendano, Allan 12MAY2017 Saudi Arabia, located in the middle east, takes up most of the Arabian Peninsula. This deeply rooted country, in comparison to Western culture, is different in many ways. Culture is defined as a civilization s way of life, their beliefs, morals, laws, and customs. Similarly to how American citizens follow the rules and regulations laid out in the constitution, the Saudi Arabian citizens use the Koran as their constitution. Absolutely no business occurs on Friday, which is a Muslim holy day, and most businesses close on Thursday, making the weekend Thursday and Friday. Greetings are similar to western culture, but if someone were to do the wrong thing they can find themselves in quite a bit of trouble. For example; when greeting men, they will shake hands, and if they are close friends or family, they will also add a kiss to the cheek. It is highly frowned upon for men and women to greet in public. Even in situations of business practices, women aren t allowed to extend a hand to be shaken. We began with my husband as the traditional breadwinner while I was finishing my college education. It was planned that we both would be working in careers before we discovered I was pregnancy with our first son. Three months later my spouse would suffer a great tragedy and was no longer able to walk, much less work. I would have to take on the role of not only breadwinner, but also caregiver and mother within the next year. Our family does not have the duel career supporting parents as suggested in the text regarding our ethnic statistics. Some similarities that our family has had with our African American ethnic families is that of the maintaining and strong ties to our extended family, as stated in our text. Our families have often pooled resources in order to support each other. My spouse and I have welcomed members into our home when they were struggling to find work. Telehealth covers a range of technology from mobile device use to physician to physician or physician to patient consults through video to assessing a patient physically who is in a different state or country. This type of technology is becoming an acceptable form of healthcare for patients, providers and insurers. Telehealth is improving the outcomes for patients while decreasing the costs of healthcare. Physician offices as well as hospitals are diving deeper into this type of care. The ability to monitor patients remotely saves time and money for the patient but also decreases visits to the hospital. In 2012 it was reported that 308,000 patients around the world utilized remote monitoring for: hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and mental health conditions. PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) estimated in 2009 that utilization of remote monitoring could reduce healthcare costs by $197 billion dollars by 2025. PWC also found that one out of two respondents surveyed were open to utilizing technology for healthcare. The process of Internalizing such effects refers to a change in property rights, that enables these effects to bear (in greater degree) on all interacting persons. They become part of the economy. The example of the military draft is used later to show how the costs of internalization have to be higher to its gains. The lower the cost the greater the number of transactions and the degree to which they take place. Lastly, in this section, Demsetz defines the framework of his analysis, what would happen if transaction costs of internalizing were zero? There are two main implications, on the first one he states that the output mix is efficient for all players involved. Secondly, that the mix is independent of who is assigned the ownership. Reflection In Night By Elie Wiesel In this eye opening book, Night by Elie Wiesel, it became very obvious that, not only his view on the world, but his view on others and himself changed dramatically throughout the book. He changed mentally and became stronger in the mind, the things he went through had changed his whole body, leaving scars and showing his rib cage from lack of food, and his beliefs in God and humanity. His human right on how he wanted to grow up was taken from him and instead he was handed the brink of life or death, along with his father, who was constantly on the edge of death. He often questioned the fact that God was on their side, given the fact that he and thousands more were tortured, beaten, and killed everyday. He also questioned why God would want them to go through this; was it to make them stronger people... or did God just want them to suffer? In the Shmoop video, it states that, Not only can our bodies be tortured, but our souls as well. Elie Wiesel goes through absolute hell everyday and survives it. He was beaten and hurt multiple times by the people watching over them. He was tortured physically. But, he also had to watch his own father decay and struggle. Elie went through so much emotional struggles in the beginning of the book, but later on he started to lose the ability to cry, for he was all out of tears to spare. • 11. Fear And Bravery, By Neil Gaiman s Coraline And Lois... Fear and bravery often go hand in hand in children s fantasy literature, in which the child protagonist must overcome their fears in order to earn their bravery and save the day. With this in mind, Neil Gaiman s Coraline and Lois Lowry s The Giver are no exception to said rule. In Gaiman s Coraline, the young protagonist must save her parents from the clutches of the evil Other Mother in the fantastical Other World that sits in Coraline s own home. Whereas in Lowry s The Giver, young Jonas must find a way to escape his frightening community which prides itself on conformity, or sameness as Lowry notes in the novel. Although the conditions in which the child protagonists in both novel face vary quite drastically from one another, both children must face their fears in a fantastical world that in essence, encourages and empowers them through the means of individualism and identity, fear, and ultimately courage. In her article, Susan G. Lea notes that the secondary worlds created in fantasy encourages [one] to compare and contrast the real world with the imaginary. In this way, fantasy as a genre can be transformative (51). In Gaiman s Coraline, it is the fantasy world known as Other World that encourages Coraline to distinguish the real world from the imaginary and allows her to essentially discover herself. Conventional cement The function of cement is for isolating production zone and to provide support for the casing [11].Portland cement is made up of calcium oxide (CaO), silicon dioxide (SiO) and water (H2O) which the composition of calcium carbonate is around 75 80 wt% and 20 25 wt% of clay [7],[14].. Compressive strength of Portland cement is developed through hydration. Hydration is chemical reaction between water and cement compound. The rheology and early strength of cement is developed from reaction of aluminate compound at the beginning of hydration. Rate of hydration can be control by adding gypsum. It is for preventing the premature hardening of cement. Gypsum will react with aluminate and hydroxyl ion to form ettrigate. Ettrigate will prevent hydration process by forming needle shaped crystal on the aluminate and creating induction period [11]. Some addictive can be added to the cement to enhance the properties of cement. There are accelerator, retarder, extender, weighting agent, dispersant, fluid loss control agent and loss circulation agent [11]. Accelerator Use to speed up the early stages of hydration. The government thought that the women s suffrage organisation would cease this opportunity to cause a revolution and unsettle Britain, but this wasn t the case and it impressed the government at how co operative women were being. • 28. Insanity In Drunk Driving The Definition of Insanity The definition of insanity is continuing to do the same action over and over and expecting a different result. For example, George Santayana states Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. (Clairmont) We all have experienced some sort of situation in which alcohol was involved. Victims of drunk driving situations have a very long and tough grieving process in which some individuals wish to forget entirely. On the other hand, referring back to the quote, we cannot forget the past or someone will be doomed to repeat it. However, some situations involving alcohol end in a more a serious outcome, such as life altering disability or even death. Although, the first offence of driving under the influence can be the last. With this being said, there are plenty of repeat offenders of driving while under the influence (DUI) that continue to put other people in harm s way as they repeated getting behind the wheel with a BAC of .15. These repeat offenders do not always have serious or fatal outcomes with their actions, and continue to forget the lives they are putting at risk. The total amount of lives lost to DUI and the large majority of repeat offenders needs an improvement with reforms such as laws tightening the noose on recidivate offenders, stronger punishment for controlling the nations DUI problems, and better enforcement of the no tolerance policy. • 31. The Battle Of Saratoga And The American Revolution Between 1765 1783 the American Revolution had many different battles that affected its ending results. One of these battles were the Battle of Saratoga which had a major effect on the American Revolution. This battle displayed the Americans power to the French, convincing them to join the war with the Americans. France supplied the American with their advanced weaponry, financial help, and anything for them to win the war. The Battle of Saratoga became to be known as a major turning point that changed the course of the American Revolution as it showed that the American army led by Horatio Gates had resilience to keep up with the British army and then defeat them, even though the British were thought to have the higher advantage in weaponry, discipline, and economy. This battle was a key reason for the Americans win in the American Revolution. In January 28, 1777, the British general John Burgoyne decided to make a plan to isolate New England from all other colonies forcing the Americans to surrender. His idea was that trying to isolating New England would separate the American army from their necessities such as their supplies and economy, and politics in the southern colonies (Battle of Saratoga 1). Burgoyne s plan was to advance with three columns to meet up in New York. These memories bring back my childhood and how my perspective of life changed. As a young child, growing up in Woodburn Oregon during the summer, I learned to not only appreciate everything I have, but to also work hard to be successful. Woodburn is a very beautiful, happy, and peaceful city that is full of nature. The city is surrounded by amazing trees, buildings, flowers, parks, and much more. The city also has great restaurants, theaters, museums and arcades. Woodburn also has amazing views and has great agricultural lands filled with flowers such as, colorful tulips, and roses. The Importance of Color in Toni Morrison s Beloved Essay The Importance of Color in Toni Morrison s Beloved Toni Morrison s Beloved a novel that addresses the cruelties that result from slavery. Morrison depicts the African American s quest for a new life while showing the difficult task of escaping the past. The African American simply wants to claim freedom and create a sense of community. In Beloved, the characters suffer not from slavery itself, but as a result of slavery that is to say the pain occurs as they reconstruct themselves, their families, and their communities only after the devastation of slavery (Kubitschek 115). In his journey North, Paul D would scan the horizon for a flash of pink or white...[or] blossoming plums (Morrison 113). By having Paul D search for colorful flowers, Morrison illustrates Paul D s desire for a life full of safety, enjoyment, and freedom. Just as Paul D desires a better life after slavery, so does Baby Suggs. As a slave, Suggs was suppressed and did not experience the type of life she desired. Morrison indirectly demonstrates this by purposely leaving out any descriptions of color in Suggs s life when she was a slave. Morrison uses this absence of color to express that Suggs had lived the life which she had longed for. She did not experience independence, freedom, safety nor a sense of community when she was a slave. However, after she was sold, she searched for color, or the life that she had wanted. For, she had never had time to see, let alone enjoy it before (Morrison 201). Enjoying every color that she could, trying to compensate for the time wasted as a slave, Suggs retreated to her room and concentrated on color. It took her a long time to finish with blue, then yellow then green (Morrison 201). Making explicit the absence of color while Suggs was a slave and then describing the way she relished the colors of her newly acquired freedom, Morrison conveys Suggs s fulfillment of the life she had longed to have when she was a slave. Finally, as her life ended, Suggs was happy with the freedom, sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
