What Are Gay Rights Wrong
LGBT Rights
Same sex marriage: A civil right or a moral wrong? In many eyes same sex marriage is a
disgusting thing that should not be allowed. In some cases, dating as far back as the early 1800s,
men were castrated, and sometimes even killed. In more recent times, gays, lesbians, and
transgender people have become more accepted, but there is still a vast amount of people who
want to kill people like that. The people in the LGBT community are often denied adoption, for
reasons that are not valid, such as Lesbian and gay people are more likely y be child molesters.
There has also been many lawsuits involving the mistreatment of LGBT people. People in the
LGBT community are often denied the basic rights of heterosexual couples because of ... Show

The Supreme Court had stated that the laws barring homosexual sodomy are not lawful. In the
Bowers v. Hardwick case of 1986, Michael Hardwick was arrested and accused of committing
sodomy with a consenting adult male in the privacy of his own home. He argued that what he
was being accused of was unconstitutional. The before mentioned Windsor case involving the
death of Thea Spyer, is another example of mistreatment. When Edith Windsor was forced to pay
over $300,000 on her wife s estate, money she would not have had to pay had she been the
husband of Thea Spyer. As previously said, Windsor argued against DOMA which indicated that
marriage was between Heterosexual couples. What DOMA stated was ruled unconstitutional, and
Windsor was refunded her money with interest. Finally, an additional instance of LGBT
maltreatment is the Lawrence v. Texas case. In 1998, John Lawrence, and Tyron Garner were
condemned on sodomy charges, when police responded to a false report that the men had illegal
weapons. When the police broke into the house, they did not find illegal weapons, but two
homosexual men engaged in intercourse. After that, they were each fined $200. The two men
appealed their charges in court, and it was ruled that the sodomy law didn t violate the constitutions
of both Texas, and the U.S. In June 2003, it was said that, The petitioners are entitled to respect for
their private lives. The State cannot demean their existence or control their destiny by making their
private sexual conduct a crime. Their right to liberty under the Due Process Clause gives them the
full right to engage in their conduct without intervention of the government. ( Gay; Lesbian Rights.
) The court then overruled this case. As it is shown in these cases, people in the LGBT community

Pregnancy Discrimination in the Workplace
Wilkie, Christina. (2012, September 29). Pregnancy discrimination in the workplace Summary
According to the article Pregnancy discrimination in the workplace target of new EEOC
crackdown, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is focusing on the problem of
discrimination against pregnant women in the workplace as part of its renewed vigor in enforcing
anti discrimination laws. During the past week, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) has filed four pregnancy discrimination related lawsuits and settled a fifth just weeks after
the government s workplace discrimination law enforcement arm announced a plan to target
employers who illegally discriminate against pregnant women (Wilkie 2012). Discriminating
against a woman because she is pregnant or may become pregnant is against the law, just as
discriminating against someone because of race, religion, ethnicity, or other protected status.
Description The EEOC website states: the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) forbids
discrimination based on pregnancy when it comes to any aspect of employment, including hiring,
firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, such as leave and health
insurance, and any other term or condition of employment (Pregnancy discrimination, 2012,
EEOC). Pregnancy is considered a temporary disability, and as such employers must provide the
employee with alternative assignments or lighter duties, disability or unpaid leave, as they

Short Story On Deadweather
Nobody lived on Deadweather but us and the pirates. It wasn t hard to understand why. For one
thing, the weather was atrocious. Eleven months out of twelve, it was brutally hot and humid,
with no wind at all, so on a bad day the air felt like a hot, soggy blanket smothering you from all
sides. And the other month was September, which meant hurricanes. Then there was the volcano.
It hadn t actually blown in ages, but it belched smoke and shook the earth enough to scare away
anybody who might ve overlooked the pirates and the weather. The only reason it didn t scare
me, even though plenty of things do, was because I d been born and raised halfway up its slope
and didn t know any different. That s how I felt about the pirates, too. There were two kinds on
Deadweather: the normal ones, who hung around down in Port Scratch, drinking and getting into
knife fights whenever they weren t off raiding Cartager gold ships; and the busted down, broken
ones, who d lost too many limbs or eyes or organs to crew a ship, but not enough to kill them
outright. A few of those stayed in the Scratch, patching together a living in the taverns and the gun
shops, but most of them hobbled up the mountain to work for Dad on the ugly fruit plantation. I
don t know what he paid them it couldn t have been much, because we didn t have much. But I

Summary Of The Gospel Of Wealth By Andrew Carnegie
Response Paper: Andrew Carnegie The Gospel of Wealth was written by Andrew Carnegie in
1889. Carnegie used the essay to argue that individual capitalists were duty bound to play a
broader cultural and social role and thus improve the world, though there were those that
disagreed with him, writing their own share of essays in response and creating a lively debate
(History Matters 1). Carnegie, unlike his peers, believed that it was the responsibility of the newly
formed upper class, consisting of those who had made their own fortunes, to engage in acts of
philanthropy. He believed that the best way to deal with the wealthinequality that resulted from
their creation of their own fortunes was to redistribute their wealth in a manner that was not only
responsible, but beneficial to all.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carnegie s essay came in in the early middle of this transformation, after which time he, and
others like him, had recently made their own fortunes. Due to a lack of a separation between the
wealthy and the poor, Carnegie was able to see the disparate nature of wealth and, being a God
fearing man, created his Gospel of Wealth as a means of working to attempt to address the
inequalities he saw, serving as a middle ground through which it was possible to still be a self
made man while at the same time working to increase overall culture and appreciation for all. The
libraries and the buildings and other works that Carnegie funneled some of his many funds into
are still visible today, serving as a physical reminder not only of what a single individual can do
with the right dedication and talent, but also serving as a reminder of a time when the value system
within the country was markedly

components of the unit were integrated.
The examination was a 60 minutes test with 10 minutes reading time. The first section of the
examination was a creative writing essay and 40 minutes was allocated to complete it. The second
section, which consisted of 11 multiples choice questions, was allocated 20 minutes for completion.

The Virtue Of Silence Essay
THE VIRTUE OF SILENCE
Of all the virtues that most men and women disregard, it is silence. People go about in their
everyday lives not even noticing the beauty of one s quot;inner silence. quot; Try an experiment:
Close your eyes. Tune out the sounds from everything that s surrounding you, and focus on what
is going on inside you. Take a deep breath and just listen. How many inner voices did you hear?
Most people do not even realize the amount of noise that is carried around in the human body. As
you can see, even in the remarkably noisy age we live in, the real noise is on the inside. But even
these noises can dissappear if one wishes. All one needs to do is study one of many religions, such
as Buddhism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One has to be able to drown out all sounds so that there is no sound to be heard. It s as though it
doesn t exist.
The Christian and Jewish methods, however, differ greatly. These two separate religions believe
that to go about reaching a state of perfect silence and meditation, one must pray to God. Both of
these religions teach that if a person wanted to drown out the rest of the world, including one s own
self, that person must pray. A meditative prayer where people fall into a trance, allowing only
thought to occur. No sound can penetrate their thoughts. Absolute, utter silence.
Christianity, and mainly Monasticism, believe that silence keeps the heart and soul pure. By not
speaking, one may not taint their lips with quot;evil quot;. Hence, in monasteries, monks take on
vows of silence. They believe that with the help of God they can overcome the urge to speak
evil against anyone else, thus keeping there souls pure. This, however, is much harder than it
seems. Jews and Buddhists do not always need to keep silent. Jews meditate and pray on a
weekly basis. Buddhists, too, don t feel as though they need to take on a full time vow like the
monasteries demand. It is detrimental to a monastic lifestyle that a vow of silence be kept. Its
importance is to help a monk concentrate on his prayers and his love of God. People who disregard
this important rule of monasticism are not tolerated because

The Maryland Blue Crab ( Callinectes Sapidus )
Organism Profile SCIN 130
Species Profile of the Maryland Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus)
Roberto Garcia
American Public University System
Abstract
The Callinectes sapidus also known commonly as the Maryland Blue Crab, is a crustacean found
in the Chesapeake Bay. The blue crab is found in aquatic environments, most often in estuaries. It
characterized by it s blue claws. The blue crabs undergo a life cycle of: zoeae, megalop, juvenile,
and adulthood. The blue crab s hard shells serve as a protective barrier for external dangers. The
Callinectes sapidus comes from the order of Decapods, whereby it s carapace has now evolved to
be better suited for swimming. Of interest is the blue crab s mating ... Show more content on

It shares ancestral background with shrimp and lobsters. They are omnivores with their prey being
mussels, fish, plants, and smaller blue crabs (Society). Although the Blue Crab is well established
within its ecosystem it is highly sensitive to environmental and habitat changes ( Blue Crab,
Maryland State Crustacean , 2016). The detrimental conditions of the Chesapeake Bay have
affected the populations of Blue Crabs along with over harvesting.
Life Cycle The life cycle of a Blue Crab involves Zoeae, Megalops, Juveniles, and Adulthood
(Zinski, 2006) ( Blue Crab Life Cycle, 2016). Mating occurs only once for female crabs. Female
crabs undergo a pubertal mold which is indicative of a sexually mature state in their life cycle.
During the pubertal molt females release pheromones which attract males. The actual ritual of
mating does not occur until females molt their shells (Zinski, 2006). At which point females will
then retreat to high salinity water to begin spawning. Spawning will occur for the first time 2 9
months after mating. Interestingly, males will protect females during the period which females
have molted and it is at this point in which mating occurs (Hill, 2004). As previously mentioned
Blue Crabs are highly susceptible to changes in environmental conditions. As an example, larvae
require high salinity waters. Larvae require salinity of at least 20 ppt and below that threshold,
there is poor likelihood of survival ability.

Nature Or Nurture Is The Cause For Criminal Behavior
No one can be certain whether nature or nurture is the cause for criminal behavior. However,
research has stated that it is more often an interaction between genes and the environment that
predicts criminal behavior (Jones, 2005). Through a biological perspective, it is determined that
criminal behavior is due to genetics and/or neurological conducts. It concludes that criminals are
born due to their criminal traits being passed down through genetic or chromosomal mutation.
Another explanation of criminal behaviorwithin the biological perspective are the neurochemicals
within our brains and body. There many regulated chemicals in the brain that determines thought
process, perception and action. Like the arguments for genetic and chromosomal mutation, any
abnormal anomalies or chemical imbalance can heavily impact behavior (Schram, 2018). This
goes for any damages to some parts of the brain that controls emotions, reason and logic. Problems
with the biological perspective are the following: 1. It provide little explanations for a small of
minority of offenders with specific conditions (Levitt, 2013). 2. Disregard the effect of
environmental influences and life experiences that also impact behavior. 3. Since criminality is
based on biology, it is unchangeable, therefore, no one is to be blamed for their actions. Lastly, 4.
Famous studies on biological factors of criminality (ex: the twin, family and adoption studies)
maintained an intertwined relationship with social

The Basis Of Labeling Theory As A Whole Is Practically
The basis of Labeling Theory as a whole is practically exactly as it sounds, the labeling, or
stigmatizing, of a person or group of people throughout their life. This labeling is the result of how
that person, or group of people, identifies and behaves throughout their life. This idea of the
Labeling Theorycomes from Becker, who claims that individuals will conform with what is said
and assumed about them. Becker s theory states the idea that those who are labeled throughout
life as deviant will become deviant and take on a known selfhood as deviant. This idea also
claims that those labeled as deviant will act more deviant than if they had not been labeled this
way. The Labeling Theory uses social characteristics such as class and race to... Show more content

Logical consistency, also known as internally consistent, generates the basis that the theory is
filled with internally sound and consistent ideas throughout (Akers et. al.). These ideas must
make sense in a logical aspect that does not allow the general ideas to conflict with each other in
a way that confuses the ideas. Labeling theory follows the concept of logical consistency by
sticking with labeling being the reasoning behind why people act the way they do, deviant or
not deviant. As stated previously, if an individual is labeled as deviant they will then act
deviant. There is no contrast to this idea throughout the theory, which allows it to be logically
consistent. Another known obstacle is that of scope. Scope is known as the range of
distribution that the theory covers. For example, if a theory focuses specifically on juveniles for
a specific crime, such as theft, then the theory would be considered to have a very limited scope.
Labeling theory would be considered to have a generally wide scope because of the fact that it
covers all ages, all races, and all genders. The theory also covers a wide scope because it
references all deviance. Theorists have stated that, agents of control, who function on behalf of the
powerful in society, impose the labels on the less powerful (Akers et. al, 2017). This points to the
idea that it is not just one specific group of people, but simply those of higher

The Pros And Cons Of Provider Contracts
Provider contracting occurs when legal contracts are developed in order to determine the terms and
agreements between Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), clinical providers and or healthcare
professionals, i.e. Primary care physicians (PCPs). A contract is defined as an agreement between
private parties creating mutual obligations enforceable by law. The basic elements required for the
agreement to be a legally enforceable contract are: mutual assent, expressed by a valid offer and
acceptance; adequate consideration; capacity; and legality. (Staff, 2017). These negotiations can
have a significant impact on the outcome, functions and delivery of healthcare services, and
provisions can directly affect payment, organization, practices and procedures, confidential records
and clinical decision making ( Managed Care Contracts Key Provisions for Providers , 2017). Some
examples of standard negotiation terms include pre certification requirements, client referrals,
patient data provided to the MCO, geographic and demographic limitations and profiles, claim
submissions, provider panels and payment procedures. Once all terms have been negotiated, a
contract has been created. According to Kongstvedt (2013), a contract should consist of seen
components which include: the title, caption, transition, recitals, definitions, closing or
testimonium, and appended documents or exhibits. The title should briefly state the overall
purpose and be placed at the head of the document, so that it

Social Adversity In Out Of This Furnace
Literature helps mirror some of the issues that individuals face in the society. Authors use fictional
or real situations, in some cases, to demonstrate the extent to which a community suffers from
various injustices, which undermine wholesome optimal function in different sectors. Historically,
the United States has had issues with social inclusivity following oppression of immigrants, limited
opportunities for minority groupings, racism, discrimination, among other things. In his novel, Out
of This Furnace, Thomas Bell echoes the experiences of the Kracha family, where he chronicles
the various life experiences from one generation to the next. Bell centers on the life of steel
workers and their experiences in America. Despite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One would actually be justified to assume that the steel mill company is representative of the unfair
treatment workers received from the various industries they worked for. In order to echo the
discrimination and oppression that immigrants experienced, Thomas H. Coode, in an essay, Many
Miles to the Middle Class: Reflections on Three Narratives of Life in Mine and Mill Towns states,
Mike s story, describes turn of the century steel mills as booming; but long and dangerous hours in
the mills deprive workers of family time, and poverty and meanness plague Slovak families whose
occupational ambitions compete with the ethnic prejudices of bosses and the corporations, (94). In
this statement, Coode makes it clear that corporations during that time were not sensitive to the
welfare of their workers, which only means that they were only focused on making profit. They
sacrificed good working conditions and sustainable salaries for huge returns to enrich themselves.
Such is a demonstration of marginalization and oppression of the poor. It is evident that Mary and
her family suffer social exclusion, which undermined their wellbeing. In the novel, Mike talks
reflecting the true nature of the society in which they lived. He says, But I m a Hunky and they don
t give good jobs to Hunkies, (Bell, 185). This particular statement demonstrates the limiting and
oppressive nature of the American society. Putting this into context, Nancy Hewitt, in her book, A

Hamstring Cramps
Your hamstrings are muscle group located on the rear of each upper thigh. It s common to
experience tight, strained or cramped hamstrings, which can occur for several reasons. Upon
dealing with hamstring cramps, take steps to prevent them from occurring again. Before trying any
new exercise or treatment, talk to your doctor and have your condition properly diagnosed.
Muscle Fatigue
Hamstring cramps are common among people who are unconditioned and those who participate in
seasonal intense sports, reports the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. During strenuous
bouts of exercise, your hamstring muscles can fatigue and cramp due to the muscles not getting
enough oxygen. When they lack oxygen, your hamstring muscles will contract and spasm
involuntarily. Thorough stretching, and then starting out slowly and gradually working up to a
more intense level of exercise, can help avoid these types of cramps.
Muscle Tightness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People who are sedentary can find their hamstring muscles feel tight or hard. Hamstring cramps
due to tight muscles can happen when you are active, sitting or lying down. A daily program of
general stretching or a program geared to your sport can often help you prevent hamstring cramps.
It is equally important to properly warm up before and cool down after any activity.
Heat and Humidity
Exercising in hot, humid conditions can lead to hamstring cramps. When your body loses too
much fluid through excessive sweating, you can also develop an electrolyte imbalance. Substances
such as calcium, potassium and others are necessary to help your muscles contract properly. If
your body is low in any of these substances either through a poor diet or dehydration your muscles
can involuntarily contract and spasm. Drinking enough water and eating healthily before and after
exercise can help resolve these kinds of cramps.

that as children s picture books? Well, to answer this question we have to start by looking were
idea of comics being kids stuff began with a book by Fredric Wertham, Seduction of the Innocent,
and the formation of the CCA. Fredric Wertham was a German American psychiatrist who s
specialty was in child development and behavior. Wertham was a major member of the anti comics
revolution that was forming amongst literary critics and fellow psychiatrists during the 40s and
50s. During his time at the Lafargue Clinic Wertham interviewed many child patients which were
all admitted for various forms of metal problems and juvenile delinquency. Some of the patients
included a young woman who dreamed of killing her own brother and said she looked at crime
comics for inspiration and others included homosexual boys that said they saw the Batman and
Robin relationship as something they always wanted. From his observations at the clinic Wertham
would write and publish in 1954 what is considered the book nearly ended comics in Seduction of
the Innocent. In Seduction Wertham describes the dangers comics had on young minds by
depicting acts of sexual intercourse and extreme violence.

Essay on An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art
An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art
Archaeologists often rely on material traits to define culture groups. In the Southwest, one such
group, the Fremont culture, has to a large degree defied classification. Inhabiting an expansive
territory in the northern reaches of the Southwest, the Fremont sometimes look archaeologically
very similar to their neighbors, the Anasazi, and to groups living on the Plains and in the Great
Basin. The origin and eventual demise of the Fremont culture has been the subject of much debate,
as has the question of whether the Fremont even constitute a culture. More than any other term
variable seems to describe the Fremont best. Several traits appear more distinctly Fremont including

Researchers have provided a number of temporal ranges for Fremont habitation, with the most
encompassing being 2000 500 B.P. (Madsen and Simms 1998).
The origin of the Fremont has been a disputed subject. Some researchers argue for an in situ
development from the Desert Archaic culture (Aikens 1970; Marwitt 1970; Husted and Mallory
1967). Others have also suggested an in situ development but with a great deal of influence from
the Anasazi to the south (Ambler 1966). Archaeologists have proposed a migration origin with an
influx of people from the Virgin Anasazi region (Gunnerson 1969) or from the northwestern Plains
(Aikens 1966). Researchers base these suppositions on Fremont material traits that are similar to
those of people from outside of the Fremont region, such as tipi rings, shield pictographs, projectile
point forms, moccasins, and pottery manufacturing techniques. None of these theories seems to
adequately explain the variation that exists within the Fremont region (Madsen 1979).

I Am The Son Of Wilhelm Boing And Marie Ortmann
I am the son of Wilhelm Böing and Marie Ortmann. I was born in 1881. My family emigrated
to the United States from North Rhine Westphalia way before i was born. My father died of
influenza while on a business trip when I was eight, my mother remarried. I personally did not
get along with my step father. I was sent to several boarding schools thought out my life. I went
to a prep school to prepare myself for Yale University. I went to Yale and joined the engineering
department of the Sheffield Scientific School. After about two years, just before completing the
three year program, I dropped out of Yale. I dropped out to seek my fortune saying later, I felt the
time was ripe to acquire timber. The evergreen state s population was increasing. The nation
demanded lumber for new homes and businesses. I then moved to Washingtonstate and started the
Greenwood Timber Company and the BoeingMcCrimmon Company. A few years later, I went to
California to witness America s first International Air Meet at Dominguez Hills. I was going to
get to ride in a plane but missed my chance. Just by watching the air show, I was inspired by planes
ever since. In 1915 I took several rides in Terah Maroney s plane. While very excited by this
experience, I took lessons at the Glenn L. Martin Flying School in Los Angeles. After those
lessons I became a pilot and bought one of Martin s planes. This is when I made the world look at
planes in new ways.

Vittorio De Sica Bicycle Thieves
Vittorio De Sica started making films in the late 1940s, with The Bicycle Thief being one of his
first films. De Sica was able to capture the struggles of a particular life, but also made it general
enough for a multitude of people to be able to relate to the problems the characters face. De Sica
is an example of a Neorealist filmmaker with his usage of nonprofessional actors as most of his
character, as he felt they provided a certain authenticity to the films. He filmed on location, using
natural light as their only source, in an attempt to make the filmseem as legitimate as possible. All

Symbolism In Director Luc Besson s The Fifth Element
Director Luc Besson s 1997 film The Fifth Element is an incredibly imaginative futuristic film
depicting the cycle of good and evil and the human factor involved with the infinite battle. Besson
carefully constructs this film to provide a human feeling to the film, providing emotional gateways
and glimpses of a character s intentions or purpose using frequent symbolism. In addition to
symbolism the use of vibrant color and lighting, or the lack of, is carefully considered within each
shot which sets the mood appropriately for the film s duration. The Fifth Elements cinematography
does portray an emphasis on the balance of light and dark and, in most cases, providing the
effect of a very serious problem with hope constantly changing between foreground and
background as it does in life. The Fifth Element takes place in the year 2263 and is set primarily
on Earth. The narrative tells the story of New York taxi driver, and former soldier, Korben

Money In The Great Gatsby
Acquiring a large amount of money is the goal of most people in today s world. Everybody wants
money because money runs the world, if someone has a lot of money then they can have and do
almost everything they want. In The Great Gatsby written by Scott Fitzgerald this very idea is
brought to life however with a twist. The story of Jay Gatsbyis an embodiment of the sad reality
that wealth can buy enjoyment but it cannot buy peace and love. This is so based on how Gatsby
was before and after his wealth, all the parties he throws, and how he is looked at after his death.
Jay Gatsby is a young millionaire with a large lifestyle. You may think that Jay Gatsby had a big
head his entire life, if someone were to think this they would be very wrong. Jay Gatsby before he
acquired his large wealth was a poor farm boy with parents who didn t care about him. His parents

rarely is anyone ever invited to Gatsby s parties they just show up, knowing they will not be

man who hosts the parties rarely showed. He spent most of his time observing the parties as if
he was waiting for something to happen or as if he was waiting for someone to show up. Later
in the story we find out Jay Gatsby was waiting for someone to show, his love Daisy. His hope
was that one day she would wonder into one of his parties where he would then find her and win
her heart back. Another great example of how Jay Gatsby uses his money to find his true goal of

Using Homemade Solar Cookers And Solar Energy
Using Homemade Solar Cookers and Solar Energy to Pasteurize Non Potable Water by Killing
Harmful Bacteria, Parasites, and Diseases
Maia J. Graudick
Brown School
Abstract
In less developed countries, there is a lack of availability in potable water for safe consumption.
Using a device known as a solar cooker may allow for cheap and easy access to water without
worry of contracting diseases. Solar cookers utilize solar energy by focusing the sun s rays into
water, heating the water to a temperature hot enough to kill harmful pathogens. A homemade solar
cooker was filled 100ml of non potable water and set out in the sun for 50 minutes. The
experiment resulted in a success with 95.9% of all organisms in the water being killed, effectively
pasteurizing the water for safe drinking. The experiment provided evidence to support that solar
cookers are reliable option for pasteurizing non potable water in less developed countries.
Using Homemade Solar Cookers and Solar Energy to Pasteurize Non Potable Water by Killing
Harmful Bacteria, Parasites, and Diseases Water is highly important in sustaining human life.
Untreated water however, can have very harmful effects on the body. Water that is not of drinking
standards, or non potable water, can contain harmful and possibly fatal pathogens. The consumption
of this water by humans is extremely dangerous. In less developed countries (LDCs) effective
methods of pasteurizing non potable water are not always readily

one third of these same student athletes earned a GPA of less than 2.0, which severely limits the
chances of earning a college degree (Gatson Gayles). Not only is this one third of students at risk
of not earning a college degree, but the entire group as a whole might not even be successful

majority of African American male student athletes choose majors and degrees that do not have

Analysis Of The Poem Taps Upon The Grass
Taps upon the grass. We moved to Prairie Grove, May of 2007 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. It was
a beautiful day and even though the drive with a newborn and a traitor full of our belongings
was intense. The scenery was absolutely memorizing, little did we know or realize how many
wonderful things there were about this little town to explore. We had lived in Prairie Grove for
a few years before we started attending local events. It was a Friday afternoon and I was heading
to the school to pick up my oldest son Elliott from band practice and I noticed a lot of people
setting up tents and walking around in old settler clothes. Men in blue and gray suits, some
were riding horses. Women in petticoats and big bulky dresses. All walking around the
Battlefield Park like this was something normal that went on everyday. I m thinking, Ok, this
town is kind of weird. Soon I started to learn the history of the town we moved to, and all the
intricate details surrounding the town of Prairie Grove. Come to find out, Part of the Civil War

under Major General Thomas C Hindman engaged the Union Divisions of Brigadier General
Francis J. Herron and James G. Blunt near Prairie Grove Church. They were suppose to attack

The Hindu Wedding
The Hindu pre wedding, wedding, and post wedding have many different observable and intricate
aspects, traditions and rituals. Planning a traditional Hindu wedding just like Christian weddings
can differ between couples as well as differences within the Hindu wedding ceremonies between
South India and North India. The most important aspect of weddings in India is that it involves
the whole family. It is not just two people becoming one, it is two families becoming one.
Knowing this, fully expect to have both families involved in every step of planning your big day!
Parents shop for their daughters bridal gifts and goods from the time they are born and devote a
massive amount of their savings for this anticipated weddingday (Vora, 2012). Just like in America,
the first step is an engagement ceremony or in the Hindu tradition, the Mangni (Gullapalli Sagi,

meeting of both sides of the family (Gullapalli Sagi, n.d. P.1). Among the festivities, it is a custom
to pick the Muhurat, or date and time of the wedding during this event (Gullapalli Sagi, n.d., Pp.1

The brand can be one they build themselves or one that they can partner with, as Kripalani did
with Dr. Seuss and was the recognition they need to stand out in the competitive marketplace of
apps. Entrepreneurs shouldn t overspend on development. Entrepreneurs don t know how
successful their app will be until it s out there so they should plan and spend wisely and be
conservative with their ROI predictions. They should also continue to monitor their apps and
watch market trends. From this, they can apply that knowledge to creating their next apps or
updating their existing apps. That applies to developing the app as well as marketing it. One of
the most important lessons for entrepreneurs is to be passionate about their work and love the
apps they create. They should apply their passions to what they want to achieve as this will drive
sales and be a key to their success.
Evaluate the economics of the digital applications market in terms of growth and profitability. How
has Oceanhouse Media performed in this market?
Growth in the Apps Market

then turned her attention to homosexuals and began to blame them... Show more content on

If you ve wondered how bullying suddenly became the new black, this latest epidemic was
brought about by our old friend, the miracle of progressive arithmetic. Casting about for a new
cause to keep their comrades ungainfully employed, the West s educators, bureaucrats, professional
homosexuals, craven politicians, and, presumably, colored ribbon manufacturers latched onto
some careerist academic s table magic. Kathy explains in this that anit bully organizations are
merely income makers for individuals. Cool 2 Be Kind was founded due someone passing away
due to excessive bullying. This organization has been recognized for its actions by President
Obama, and the California Senate. Kathy did not validate her claims when publishing that
statement; new organizations against bullying are emerging in force. Many of these organizations
are being created by the families and friends of victims who could not handle the fear any longer.
These individuals merely seek to prevent future tragedies from occurring due to

Complimentary goods are often sold in salons such as shampoos, brushes, and gels or sprays, these
contribute revenue and many people purchase things because a stylist recommends them, similar to
if a dentist recommends certain toothpaste. Popular industry wide trends emerging are discounts on
children s haircuts, discounts for men getting haircuts and also getting shaved, and women getting
discounts for getting a combination or services such as washing, dyeing, and cutting. Businesses
are always exiting and entering the field, which is a testament to their service, good service and
you will probably last, bad service and after the word
Hot Heads Salon6 spreads you will be lucky to make it out of the month in business. A multiple of
things affect businesses coming and going such as the threat of new entrants, rivalry among
competitors, and the threat of substitutes. Since there are so many shops often people can just go
to another shop which is why you have to distinguish yourself, with new entrants always around
the corner you have to make sure you establish a good location and customer base, this is what will
keep you in business and successful. Since shops come by the dozens there is often competition and

Who Is A Dynamic Character In The Matrix
The movie chosen for the film assignment was The Matrix, it holds a strong plot and is an iconic
movie in our American culture. The Matrix shows an impressive ability to keep fluid dynamics
throughout the film. Dynamics through character, setting, visuals, etc. Neo has proven to be a
round dynamic character, while a character like Morpheusis seen to be quite flat and stagnant. He is
the character that provides support for the entire film, although he is not the main character.
Morpheus seemed the most ideal character to do an analysis.
There are a few major characters throughout this film, all which are significant. After seeing the
film, the most important figure that stood out was Morpheus. He was a protagonist along with Neo,
and Trinity in the film. His main mission throughout the film was to teach Neo how to become a
better version of himself, how to save the human race, and to destroy the matrix. All of those are
qualities of an influential and positive character. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He holds a strong personality that demands respect, honesty, trust, and loyalty. At first, it appears
as though many of the characters (minor and major) fear this man, but as the story plot thickens
it is made clear that, that it is not fear but respect rather. His choices from his past to the present,
as well as his demeanor to other characters is what drives the respectable attitude that he carries.
Amongst all these, he has simple traits as well, like kindness and hope that show he has almost a
delicate side with some vulnerability left in him despite the personal wars he has been through. If
we go back to the beginning of the film, one of the most pivotal scenes is one where he has given
Neo the opportunity to choose his

Canadian Football Game Analysis
There were no Canadian teams in the playoffs For the first time in 46 seasons, there were no
Canadian teams in the NHL playoffs. The last time this occurred was 1969 1970 season where
there were only 12 teams in the league and two from Canada being the Montreal Canadiens and
Toronto Maple Leafs. The league has grown to 30 teams (and is in the process of expanding),
with seven of them being north of the border. Although there are only seven teams representing
the red and white, it surprising to think that none of them qualified, considering that last season
five out of the the seven teams were in playoffs (except for Toronto and Edmonton). Each team
had their reasons for why they didn t make it. Toronto s first season under Mike Babcock was
one to forget since they are in the rebuilding process and finished 30th overall with 69 points.
The Leafs also traded away star players Phil Kessel, captain Dion Phaneuf, and James Reimer in
order to start from scratch and create a new team identity. They are looking to improve after
securing the first overall pick in the upcoming draft and will most likely take prospect Austun
Matthews to help get them back to the playoffs after being out since the 2012 2013 season.
Edmonton finished one point above Toronto and are still looking to make it to the postseason after...

The team went from being a team who missed out on the playoffs last season to appearing in the
Stanley Cup Final, a notable turnaround under first year coach Peter DeBoer. The games were
thrilling considering two games went to overtime and neither team was blown out. In the end San
Jose was unable to match the speed that Pittsburgh had and Matt Murray was able to make the
necessary saves to win games and became the fifth rookie in NHL history to lead his team to the

  • 2. What Are Gay Rights Wrong LGBT Rights Same sex marriage: A civil right or a moral wrong? In many eyes same sex marriage is a disgusting thing that should not be allowed. In some cases, dating as far back as the early 1800s, men were castrated, and sometimes even killed. In more recent times, gays, lesbians, and transgender people have become more accepted, but there is still a vast amount of people who want to kill people like that. The people in the LGBT community are often denied adoption, for reasons that are not valid, such as Lesbian and gay people are more likely y be child molesters. Hardwick case of 1986, Michael Hardwick was arrested and accused of committing sodomy with a consenting adult male in the privacy of his own home. He argued that what he was being accused of was unconstitutional. The before mentioned Windsor case involving the death of Thea Spyer, is another example of mistreatment. When Edith Windsor was forced to pay over $300,000 on her wife s estate, money she would not have had to pay had she been the husband of Thea Spyer. As previously said, Windsor argued against DOMA which indicated that marriage was between Heterosexual couples. What DOMA stated was ruled unconstitutional, and Windsor was refunded her money with interest. Finally, an additional instance of LGBT maltreatment is the Lawrence v. Texas case. In 1998, John Lawrence, and Tyron Garner were condemned on sodomy charges, when police responded to a false report that the men had illegal weapons. When the police broke into the house, they did not find illegal weapons, but two homosexual men engaged in intercourse. After that, they were each fined $200. The two men appealed their charges in court, and it was ruled that the sodomy law didn t violate the constitutions of both Texas, and the U.S. In June 2003, it was said that, The petitioners are entitled to respect for their private lives. The State cannot demean their existence or control their destiny by making their private sexual conduct a crime. Their right to liberty under the Due Process Clause gives them the full right to engage in their conduct without intervention of the government. Pregnancy discrimination in the workplace Summary According to the article Pregnancy discrimination in the workplace target of new EEOC crackdown, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is focusing on the problem of discrimination against pregnant women in the workplace as part of its renewed vigor in enforcing anti discrimination laws. During the past week, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed four pregnancy discrimination related lawsuits and settled a fifth just weeks after the government s workplace discrimination law enforcement arm announced a plan to target employers who illegally discriminate against pregnant women (Wilkie 2012). Discriminating against a woman because she is pregnant or may become pregnant is against the law, just as discriminating against someone because of race, religion, ethnicity, or other protected status. Description The EEOC website states: the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) forbids discrimination based on pregnancy when it comes to any aspect of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, such as leave and health insurance, and any other term or condition of employment (Pregnancy discrimination, 2012, EEOC). Eleven months out of twelve, it was brutally hot and humid, with no wind at all, so on a bad day the air felt like a hot, soggy blanket smothering you from all sides. And the other month was September, which meant hurricanes. Then there was the volcano. It hadn t actually blown in ages, but it belched smoke and shook the earth enough to scare away anybody who might ve overlooked the pirates and the weather. The only reason it didn t scare me, even though plenty of things do, was because I d been born and raised halfway up its slope and didn t know any different. That s how I felt about the pirates, too. There were two kinds on Deadweather: the normal ones, who hung around down in Port Scratch, drinking and getting into knife fights whenever they weren t off raiding Cartager gold ships; and the busted down, broken ones, who d lost too many limbs or eyes or organs to crew a ship, but not enough to kill them outright. A few of those stayed in the Scratch, patching together a living in the taverns and the gun shops, but most of them hobbled up the mountain to work for Dad on the ugly fruit plantation. • 7. Summary Of The Gospel Of Wealth By Andrew Carnegie Response Paper: Andrew Carnegie The Gospel of Wealth was written by Andrew Carnegie in 1889. Carnegie used the essay to argue that individual capitalists were duty bound to play a broader cultural and social role and thus improve the world, though there were those that disagreed with him, writing their own share of essays in response and creating a lively debate (History Matters 1). Carnegie, unlike his peers, believed that it was the responsibility of the newly formed upper class, consisting of those who had made their own fortunes, to engage in acts of philanthropy. He believed that the best way to deal with the wealthinequality that resulted from their creation of their own fortunes was to redistribute their wealth in a manner that was not only responsible, but beneficial to all.... The libraries and the buildings and other works that Carnegie funneled some of his many funds into are still visible today, serving as a physical reminder not only of what a single individual can do with the right dedication and talent, but also serving as a reminder of a time when the value system within the country was markedly ... Tune out the sounds from everything that s surrounding you, and focus on what is going on inside you. Take a deep breath and just listen. How many inner voices did you hear? Most people do not even realize the amount of noise that is carried around in the human body. As you can see, even in the remarkably noisy age we live in, the real noise is on the inside. These two separate religions believe that to go about reaching a state of perfect silence and meditation, one must pray to God. Both of these religions teach that if a person wanted to drown out the rest of the world, including one s own self, that person must pray. A meditative prayer where people fall into a trance, allowing only thought to occur. No sound can penetrate their thoughts. Absolute, utter silence. Christianity, and mainly Monasticism, believe that silence keeps the heart and soul pure. By not speaking, one may not taint their lips with quot;evil quot;. Hence, in monasteries, monks take on vows of silence. They believe that with the help of God they can overcome the urge to speak evil against anyone else, thus keeping there souls pure. This, however, is much harder than it seems. Jews and Buddhists do not always need to keep silent. Jews meditate and pray on a weekly basis. Buddhists, too, don t feel as though they need to take on a full time vow like the monasteries demand. It is detrimental to a monastic lifestyle that a vow of silence be kept. Its importance is to help a monk concentrate on his prayers and his love of God. People who disregard this important rule of monasticism are not tolerated because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the Blue Crab is well established within its ecosystem it is highly sensitive to environmental and habitat changes ( Blue Crab, Maryland State Crustacean , 2016). The detrimental conditions of the Chesapeake Bay have affected the populations of Blue Crabs along with over harvesting. Life Cycle The life cycle of a Blue Crab involves Zoeae, Megalops, Juveniles, and Adulthood (Zinski, 2006) ( Blue Crab Life Cycle, 2016). Mating occurs only once for female crabs. Female crabs undergo a pubertal mold which is indicative of a sexually mature state in their life cycle. During the pubertal molt females release pheromones which attract males. The actual ritual of mating does not occur until females molt their shells (Zinski, 2006). At which point females will then retreat to high salinity water to begin spawning. Spawning will occur for the first time 2 9 months after mating. Interestingly, males will protect females during the period which females have molted and it is at this point in which mating occurs (Hill, 2004). As previously mentioned Blue Crabs are highly susceptible to changes in environmental conditions. As an example, larvae require high salinity waters. Larvae require salinity of at least 20 ppt and below that threshold, there is poor likelihood of survival ability. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Nature Or Nurture Is The Cause For Criminal Behavior No one can be certain whether nature or nurture is the cause for criminal behavior. However, research has stated that it is more often an interaction between genes and the environment that predicts criminal behavior (Jones, 2005). Through a biological perspective, it is determined that criminal behavior is due to genetics and/or neurological conducts. It concludes that criminals are born due to their criminal traits being passed down through genetic or chromosomal mutation. Another explanation of criminal behaviorwithin the biological perspective are the neurochemicals within our brains and body. There many regulated chemicals in the brain that determines thought process, perception and action. Like the arguments for genetic and chromosomal mutation, any abnormal anomalies or chemical imbalance can heavily impact behavior (Schram, 2018). This goes for any damages to some parts of the brain that controls emotions, reason and logic. Problems with the biological perspective are the following: 1. It provide little explanations for a small of minority of offenders with specific conditions (Levitt, 2013). 2. Disregard the effect of environmental influences and life experiences that also impact behavior. 3. Since criminality is based on biology, it is unchangeable, therefore, no one is to be blamed for their actions. Lastly, 4. • 13. The Basis Of Labeling Theory As A Whole Is Practically The basis of Labeling Theory as a whole is practically exactly as it sounds, the labeling, or stigmatizing, of a person or group of people throughout their life. This labeling is the result of how that person, or group of people, identifies and behaves throughout their life. This idea of the Labeling Theorycomes from Becker, who claims that individuals will conform with what is said and assumed about them. Becker s theory states the idea that those who are labeled throughout life as deviant will become deviant and take on a known selfhood as deviant. This idea also claims that those labeled as deviant will act more deviant than if they had not been labeled this way. The Labeling Theory uses social characteristics such as class and race to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Logical consistency, also known as internally consistent, generates the basis that the theory is filled with internally sound and consistent ideas throughout (Akers et. al.). These ideas must make sense in a logical aspect that does not allow the general ideas to conflict with each other in a way that confuses the ideas. Labeling theory follows the concept of logical consistency by sticking with labeling being the reasoning behind why people act the way they do, deviant or not deviant. As stated previously, if an individual is labeled as deviant they will then act deviant. There is no contrast to this idea throughout the theory, which allows it to be logically consistent. Another known obstacle is that of scope. Scope is known as the range of distribution that the theory covers. For example, if a theory focuses specifically on juveniles for a specific crime, such as theft, then the theory would be considered to have a very limited scope. Labeling theory would be considered to have a generally wide scope because of the fact that it covers all ages, all races, and all genders. The theory also covers a wide scope because it references all deviance. Theorists have stated that, agents of control, who function on behalf of the powerful in society, impose the labels on the less powerful (Akers et. al, 2017). This points to the idea that it is not just one specific group of people, but simply those of higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Provider Contracts Provider contracting occurs when legal contracts are developed in order to determine the terms and agreements between Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), clinical providers and or healthcare professionals, i.e. Primary care physicians (PCPs). A contract is defined as an agreement between private parties creating mutual obligations enforceable by law. The basic elements required for the agreement to be a legally enforceable contract are: mutual assent, expressed by a valid offer and acceptance; adequate consideration; capacity; and legality. (Staff, 2017). These negotiations can have a significant impact on the outcome, functions and delivery of healthcare services, and provisions can directly affect payment, organization, practices and procedures, confidential records and clinical decision making ( Managed Care Contracts Key Provisions for Providers , 2017). Some examples of standard negotiation terms include pre certification requirements, client referrals, patient data provided to the MCO, geographic and demographic limitations and profiles, claim submissions, provider panels and payment procedures. Once all terms have been negotiated, a contract has been created. According to Kongstvedt (2013), a contract should consist of seen components which include: the title, caption, transition, recitals, definitions, closing or testimonium, and appended documents or exhibits. Historically, the United States has had issues with social inclusivity following oppression of immigrants, limited opportunities for minority groupings, racism, discrimination, among other things. In this statement, Coode makes it clear that corporations during that time were not sensitive to the welfare of their workers, which only means that they were only focused on making profit. They sacrificed good working conditions and sustainable salaries for huge returns to enrich themselves. Such is a demonstration of marginalization and oppression of the poor. It is evident that Mary and her family suffer social exclusion, which undermined their wellbeing. In the novel, Mike talks reflecting the true nature of the society in which they lived. Researchers have provided a number of temporal ranges for Fremont habitation, with the most encompassing being 2000 500 B.P. (Madsen and Simms 1998). The origin of the Fremont has been a disputed subject. Some researchers argue for an in situ development from the Desert Archaic culture (Aikens 1970; Marwitt 1970; Husted and Mallory 1967). Others have also suggested an in situ development but with a great deal of influence from the Anasazi to the south (Ambler 1966). Archaeologists have proposed a migration origin with an influx of people from the Virgin Anasazi region (Gunnerson 1969) or from the northwestern Plains (Aikens 1966). Researchers base these suppositions on Fremont material traits that are similar to those of people from outside of the Fremont region, such as tipi rings, shield pictographs, projectile point forms, moccasins, and pottery manufacturing techniques. None of these theories seems to adequately explain the variation that exists within the Fremont region (Madsen 1979). The patterning of Fremont material traits has led archaeologists to outline a number of regional variants. • 22. Symbolism In Director Luc Besson s The Fifth Element Director Luc Besson s 1997 film The Fifth Element is an incredibly imaginative futuristic film depicting the cycle of good and evil and the human factor involved with the infinite battle. Besson carefully constructs this film to provide a human feeling to the film, providing emotional gateways and glimpses of a character s intentions or purpose using frequent symbolism. In addition to symbolism the use of vibrant color and lighting, or the lack of, is carefully considered within each shot which sets the mood appropriately for the film s duration. The Fifth Elements cinematography does portray an emphasis on the balance of light and dark and, in most cases, providing the effect of a very serious problem with hope constantly changing between foreground and background as it does in life. Graudick Brown School Abstract In less developed countries, there is a lack of availability in potable water for safe consumption. Using a device known as a solar cooker may allow for cheap and easy access to water without worry of contracting diseases. Solar cookers utilize solar energy by focusing the sun s rays into water, heating the water to a temperature hot enough to kill harmful pathogens. A homemade solar cooker was filled 100ml of non potable water and set out in the sun for 50 minutes. The experiment resulted in a success with 95.9% of all organisms in the water being killed, effectively pasteurizing the water for safe drinking. The Matrix shows an impressive ability to keep fluid dynamics throughout the film. Dynamics through character, setting, visuals, etc. Neo has proven to be a round dynamic character, while a character like Morpheusis seen to be quite flat and stagnant. • 44. Canadian Football Game Analysis There were no Canadian teams in the playoffs For the first time in 46 seasons, there were no Canadian teams in the NHL playoffs. The last time this occurred was 1969 1970 season where there were only 12 teams in the league and two from Canada being the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. The league has grown to 30 teams (and is in the process of expanding), with seven of them being north of the border. Although there are only seven teams representing the red and white, it surprising to think that none of them qualified, considering that last season five out of the the seven teams were in playoffs (except for Toronto and Edmonton). Each team had their reasons for why they didn t make it. Toronto s first season under Mike Babcock was one to forget since they are in the rebuilding process and finished 30th overall with 69 points. The Leafs also traded away star players Phil Kessel, captain Dion Phaneuf, and James Reimer in order to start from scratch and create a new team identity. They are looking to improve after securing the first overall pick in the upcoming draft and will most likely take prospect Austun Matthews to help get them back to the playoffs after being out since the 2012 2013 season. Edmonton finished one point above Toronto and are still looking to make it to the postseason after... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end San Jose was unable to match the speed that Pittsburgh had and Matt Murray was able to make the necessary saves to win games and became the fifth rookie in NHL history to lead his team to the Stanley ...
