Ikea Management Style
Ikea has grown into a worldwide phenomenon with an almost like cult following and the world s
largest furniture retailer due in large part to its founder Ingvar Kamprad s charismatic personality
combined with his own philosophy of business management and the Scandinavian style of open
management he has parlayed a fortune that will be left to one of his children who has proven their own
business acumen by running one of his many companies profitably. According to Kamprad himself in
his July 23, 2008 Acticule published by stoked in Major Companies Kamprad states;

consensual decision making are vital elements in the concept. Managers are focused on their
employees and feel that they need to satisfy them in order to motivate them. This motivation has
proven to lead to better productivity and performance of the organization. Swedish managers are
indeed focused on human resources and are practicing Scandinavian management. Scandinavian
management is necessary on the Swedish market as it increases the chances for having a productive
company with satisfied employees and customers.
Kamprad laid the foundation of his empire using his views on life. The IKEAN Spirit was founded on
enthusiasm, a constant will to renew, cost consciousness, willingness to assume responsibility, and
humbleness before the task. The organizational atmosphere was very informal, effort was made to
veer away from status and convention. Simplicity was practiced at all levels but managers were
expected to completely understand the store s operations. Having such a distinct corporate culture that

history of surfing Essay
A Surf Tale
An account of surfing s thousand year voyage from the kings of Hawaii, to the surfers exile from
society, to the multi billion dollar industry of today.
The Sun s radiation heats the upper atmosphere, sending the energy toward the earth s surface and
finally mixes with the planet s counter rotational currents, creating jetstream flows. The winds flow
over the ocean s surface creating friction that spawns chops, pushing up the seas forming perfect
bands of open ocean swell. Pushed on by gravitational forces, the swells speed away from the winds
that they came from, moving across the deeps until they feel the drag of the shallows near the coast.
As the swells rise up out of themselves, they peak, curling into the liquid dreams ... Show more

They had perfected the science of celestial navigation and frequently made thousand mile journeys,
hitting their target destination perfectly. The Islanders braved the ocean by rowing large canoes made
from forest hardwood. They stabilized them with outriggers, enabling the boats to keep from flipping
while paddling into the surf. These crafts were propelled by wind being corralled in sails made from
pandanus leaves, or when sailing into the wind, they could be rowed with small paddles. The islanders
were accustomed to long journeys at sea seeing as these boats were primarily used to venture out on
their regular trading routes with other islands, or even on long explorations. It was on these
Expeditions that the Ancient Polynesians are believed to have discovered and inhabited hundreds of
remote islands, including present day Easter Island and of course Hawaii.
It isn t clear how the Polynesians actually discovered surfing, but we can all conjecture. Assuming that
these ancient people were familiar with paddling in the ocean, they surely understood that while
paddling with a swell, one could feel the next wave building behind them. As the wave begins to peak,
it pulls you down, and then draws you up, then allowing one to fall along the face of the wave,
skipping forward across the surface. It seems to be the best guess that surfing started much like that, a
fisherman catches a lift to shore

Daniel Goleman Leadership Summary
Goleman, D. (2000). Leadership that gets results. Harvard Business Review. March April. Pp. 78 90.
Siegel, D. Hartzell, M. (2003). Parenting from the inside out. Chapter 4: How we communicate:
Making connections. New York: Penguin Books pp. 80 100.
In the reading by Daniel Goleman, the six different type of leadership are described, and defined. The
writer states the different types are Coercive, Authoritative, Affiliative, Democratic, Pacesetting, and
Coaching (Goleman, 2000). Coercive leaders demand immediate compliance. Authoritative leaders
mobilize people toward a vision. Affiliative leaders create emotional bonds, and harmony. Democratic
leaders build consensus through participation. Pacesetting leaders expect excellence and self direction,
and coaching leaders develop people for the future, (Goleman, 2000). The reading state out of the six,
Authoritative leadership is the type which has the most positive effect on workers because in the realm
of Emotional Intelligence it shows empathy, and self confidence (Goleman, 2000). The other positive
leadership styles are Affiliative, Democratic, and Coaching (Goleman, 2000). In all of these types, the
common theme is empathy, and working together.
In the reading by Daniel J. Seigel, and Mary Hartzell, it discusses how important it is for an infant to
form an attachment bond with the parents, and how the parents need to be attuned to their infants
needs to form a trusting relationship. The reading also details the

The Navajo, also known as Dine`, are some of the first Indians who set foot in America. The primary
mode of subsistence for any culture means a way of supporting life. The Navajo s primary modes of
subsistence are pastoralists. How does a pastoralist society impact beliefs and values, healing and
sickness, and kinship of the Navajo culture? These are the three aspects I plan to discuss and prove
that the Navajo Nation is a Nation within a Nation. The Navajo Nation is a semi autonomous Native

Herbert J. Hagerman was hired by the US government to lead Navajo tribal councils and run the

sheep or livestock, instead thousands of Navajo people went off to find wage labor to supplement their
income instead. The tribal council industrialized itself. (Lee, 2007) In the 1970 s the Navajo nation
was reorganized and the reservation had someone in control of the nation. Peter MacDonald was
elected chairman of the council and made new powers direct the Navajo government. In 1998 the
tribal council passed a Navajo Nation Local Governance Act that allowed local matters to be made by
local level people, allowing more local authority. The current government structure is now an agency

Essay On Pertussis
1.0 Introduction
This paper discusses the condition pertussis with regard to its prevalence in Australia and the United
States. It also explores prevention methods currently recommended by leading organisations. Despite
a reduction of mortality linked to pertussis, it remains a health concern worldwide (WHO, 2010).
2.0 Definition of pertussis
Pertussis, also referred to as whooping cough, is a bacterial infection affecting the upper respiratory
tract (Pluta, Lynm, Glass, 2010). Caused by the Bordetella pertussis bacterium, this disease is most
commonly diagnosed in unvaccinated young children. The infection is characterised by a long lasting
wet cough, paroxysms of coughing, a whooping sound on inspiration (Pluta et al., 2010), and often
vomiting following the coughing (Bentley, Pinfield, Rouse, 2013). The bacteria are transmitted by
airborne droplets released when infected individuals sneeze or cough and, consequently, the infection
is highly contagious (Chivima, 2011). Pertussis has a 7 10 day incubation period and the disease can
last from 6 8 weeks and is therefore notably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can determine whether patients require vaccinations through access to medication records or

role is distributing medication, but they may also provide immunisations, such as the Tdap vaccine
which is supplied by pharmacies in 43 states in the U.S. (Mills, Fensterheim, Taitel, Cannon, 2014).
By supplying vaccines, pharmacies make immunisation more convenient by providing a solution to a
significant barrier for immunisation, this being ease of access (Mills et al., 2014). In addition, they
may also be involved in educating their community on available vaccines and where to go to obtain
them, further reducing this barrier in the local community (Bach Goad,

The sauce will need to be prepared while the baklava is baking, so it will be ready when you take the
dish out of the oven. In a medium saucepan bring one cup of water and one cup of white sugar to a
boil while stirring occasionally. Once the sugar has completely dissolved pour in half a cup of honey
and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Gently stir the mixture while it simmers for 20 minutes. Immediately
after removing the golden baklava from the oven drizzle one tablespoon of sauce on each piece, cover
all the dry spots with the remaining sauce. Allow the dessert to cool completely before transferring the
flaky triangles into individual cupcake liners. Put a few pieces into Ziploc bags and freeze for a tasty
treat another day or arrange them on a serving platter to share with friends. Be sure to leave them
uncovered or they may become soggy overnight. You are now equipped with the knowledge to prepare
a dish that will have people singing praise to your baking skills. As you can see this recipe is
surprisingly easy to make with an amazing end product. Every time you make this dessert it will
become easier and easier; which is good because once you share it with others they will be asking you
to make it again and again. Remember, honey and pecans are healthy so feel free to have another

What Does It Mean To Be A Feminism Essay
The F Word
What does it mean to be a feminist. The meaning has taken many twists and turns throughout the
various decades it s been through. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose of
the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the
stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image of
an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because
women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. I would like to re establish
the rightful definition of Feminism.
When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41% voted
yes and 59% voted no. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was Unfair and simply filled
with feminists and Gender Snobs . Any woman who openly states that she is a feminist is
automatically judged and labelled as Man hater and a radical female . The real definition of a feminist
is the advocacy of women s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes . So why is our society
discriminating and judging any person who openly admits to wanting equal rights for women? ...

The Hollow Men Essay
At a point in all mortal s existence, there will be a moment when their soul is between two states of
being, waiting to be judged. Without the fearlessness and faith to move on to the afterlife, they will
spend eternity stuck in purgatory. When T. S. Eliot wrote The Hollow Men, he used symbolism,
imagery, and repetition to share his insight to address the lack of courage and faith that plagues every
human being. T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men is a dramatic monologue, free verse poem that consists of
five parts that could be considered five separate poems. His use of allegorically abstract text
nevertheless achieves a remarkable unity of effect in terms of voice, mood and imagery (Morace 948).
Before the poem starts, there are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part one of the poem opens with We are the hollow men, / We are the stuffed men (3 4). It also ends
with We are the hollow men, / We are the stuffed men (19 20). This use of this repetition is to
reinforce the notion that the hollow men are nothing but emptiness. The image of hollow men who are
Leaning together is one of immobility (Urquhart 199). Shape without form, shade without color, /
Paralyzed force, gesture without motion (13 14) confirms the image that the hollow men are
meaningless, nothing more than a scarecrow lacking embodiment or substance (Bloom 61). In part
two of the poem, Eliot uses eyes as an important and repeated image of spiritual insight (Bloom 61).
Unlike in part one where Eliot writes, Those who have crossed / With direct eyes, to death s other
Kingdom (15 16), In part two, the Hollow Men... have vision that is refracted and distorted (Bloom
61). Eyes I dare not meet in dreams In death s dream kingdom These do not appear: There, the eyes
are Sunlight on a broken column (21 25)
The image suggests a ruin in a classical landscape painting, a symbol of a broken down system of
belief (Bloom 61). The hollow men do not have the faith to be judged and move on to death s other
Kingdom. The lines in part three of the poem This is the dead land / This is cactus land
(41 42) serve as an image of a place lacking life.

like these, and the market is growing quickly. Whether just to make sure they pass that next test, or if
they really believe they need it, stimulants popularity is soaring, and not just among adolescents but
doctors as well. Stimulant medication / therapy is being prescribed at a growing rate, leading to many

this medication, an unprecedented number of adolescents and adults are already legally in possession.
Without proper monitoring and education, illegal users may be impacted by their use for the rest of

aches, insomnia, headaches, and anorexia. Effects such as these, especially without proper monitoring

recommended dosage. Overdosing on stimulants like Ritalin or Adderall most reliably result in
euphoria, delirium, confusion, toxic psychosis, and hallucinations, along with schizophrenic

Choosing The Forbes Travel Guide Star
This means that every month for the last 2 years, 6.2 new luxury hotel were built in the world. Hotels
where each guest may easily fancy himself as prince surrounded by a flock of courtiers (Sherman,
2007, p. 26) are being required more and more every day. The World Luxury Index (2014) revealed
that the global consumer interest for the luxury hospitality industry grew 7.7% in one year.
The numbers don´t lie, the luxury hotels industry is growing fast. But, are they positioning themselves
correctly in the consumer s head? Are they targeting the right client segment? And what are the
triggers they use to attract their consumers?
To answer these questions, I chose two luxury hotels brands. I will evaluate and compare them
covering the brands personalities and positioning, and analyze what these brands do to motivate the
consumers in their purchase decision. The two brands chosen were The Ritz Carlton and the South
African Lodge Londolozi. These very different choices were made considering The Forbes Travel
Guide Star Awards definition of Luxury Hotel; it defines them as those that provide a memorable
experience through virtually flawless service and the finest of amenities. In these hotels, the staff is
perceptive, involved and passionate, willing to go that extra mile. They were both designed with the
guest s comfort in mind, investing special attention to quality.

Lakshmi, The Hindu Lakshmi
Shri Lakshmi, also named Shri, is the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity, both materialistically
and spiritually. The word Lakshmi is derived from Sanskrit word Laksme, meaning goal . Lakshmi,
subsequently, speaks to the objective of life which includes worldly and as spiritual prosperity.
Goddess Lakshmi, according to Vishnu Parana was the daughter of Sage Bhrigu and Khyati. It is often
disconcerted that Lakshmi was daughter of goddess Durga, protector of all that s good. Sage Durvasa
gave Indra a garland, and Indra s elephant threw it on the ground causing her to place a curse on Indra
and the Gods to where they would lose their supremacy. This made the Gods banish, making Lakshmi
take shelter in the ocean. Following the incident of Indra and Durvasa, demons invaded heaven
eventually gaining control of the universe. Indra had lost his kingdom, he sought help from god
Vishnu which advised to treat the demons in a conciliatory way. They formed an alliance between the
demons to jointly churn the ocean for nectar of immortality. While they churned the ocean with Mount
Mandarachala and Vasuki, goddess Lakshmi was reborn seated on a dew drenched Lotus, dressed in
red silk, bedecked in gold, Lakshmi was the very embodiment of affluence, abundance, and
auspiciousness. Once the gods saw Lakshmi they fell in love with her beauty, she was a maiden. The
first to claim Lakshmi as his wife was Shiva, but her hand was given to Vishnu since Shiva had
already taken the Moon. She

Tarmageddon Rhetorical Analysis Essay A good and successful article is an article that is logically
organized and does not disrupt the flow of thought and content that is provided in the piece of work as
well as a good writing style which keeps the reader engaged throughout their read. The author Andrew
Nikiforuk has created a nice and logical structure within his article. He starts by stating how
Europeans felt towards Canada before and continues by explaining what has changed their stance
towards Canada. He then leads on by describing oil and the specifics of the oil Canada is refining
while noting its problems along the way while recounting how Canada changed, explaining why those
changes transpired. Towards the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(PARAGRAPH 8, PAGE 212) Another example is where the author states, it takes 12 barrels of steam
to melt one barrel of Bitumen . He doesn t only include relevant details about the oil; he also provides
important details about the government officials who do not take this issue seriously. (PARAGRAPH
16, PAGE 212) He does not suddenly make a blunt claim that the Prime minister doesn t take notice of
the problem at hand. Instead he gives us important background information son of imperial oil
executive which is the reason behind the Prime minister s negligence towards the oil problem. All of
the facts and reasons that the author uses to support his article shows us that he isn t trying to benefit
from the power of emotion because he knows that emotions are unstable, he plans to use the power of
logic and reason which have much more stability and validity to rally support from his fellow readers.
In addition to the appealing to the audience s reason the author uses an informative writing style in
this article to inform his audience of the issue at hand and its consequences if it isn t handled
appropriately and increase the article s effectiveness consequentially. He doesn t narrate a story nor
does he state his personal opinion anywhere in his work. He solely relies on the information he has

British Monarchy
British monarchy Should they stay or should they go? Yona Oshrat

Moreover the annual cost of around £37 million is good value for money. In any case, Monarchy is
meant to be majestic, yet there seems to be a deliberate move to diminish the majesty of the
Monarchy. So long as the Monarch remains a symbol of the nation, then no expense should be spared.
A nation which values itself will treat its national icons with prestige and respect.
In addition The Monarch is a national icon. An icon which cannot be replaced adequately by any other
politician or personality. This is because the British Monarchy embodies British history and identity in
all its aspects, both good and bad. When you see the Queen you not only see history since 1952, when
she took the throne, but you see a person who provides a living sense of historical continuity with the
past. A living continuity between the past, the present and the future. That s something that no
politician can provide. All politicians come and go, but Monarchy is forever. With its traditions, its
history, its ceremonial, and with its standing and respect throughout the world, the British Monarchy
represents a unique national treasure, without which the United Kingdom would be sorely
impoverished.
The monarchy has existed in its current form since the 10th century. Although the monarch plays only
a ceremonial role, having lost all political power, the monarch is still the head of state. This basically
makes the case that inheritance of public office is wrong in principle,

Strengths And Weakness Characteristics Of Dyslexia
The British Psychological Society (1999) gave a definition of dyslexia; dyslexia is evident when
accurate and fluent word reading and / or spelling develops very incompletely or with great difficulty.
After completing several assessments with Angela, the profile from her results suggest a profile that is
normally associated with the strengths and weakness characteristic of dyslexia.
During the testing, she demonstrated great enthusiasm for the tasks, and perseverance while she was
doing some of the more challenging ones. Angela has a very positive attitude to everything she does
and this is one of her strengths.
Angela s overall underlying ability falls in the below average range. Her reading and spelling skills are
below average ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Difficulties with short term and working memory and sequencing are common in dyslexia. This can
contribute significantly to problems with reading, and with following verbal instructions,
remembering information, concentrating, and maintaining a train of thought, especially in a busy
classroom.
Below average scores in tests concerned with recalling information, working memory and low
concentration would all have an impact on Angela s ability to acquire literacy skills. They are also all
potential indicators of dyslexia. For example, the spoonerisms sub test, which Angela found very
difficult to complete, involves the short term auditory memory/working memory, because you must
remember two separate sounds while you switch them around, for example top cat = cop tat.
Recommendations Angela should be able to make good progress with additional help in her weaker
areas, and I recommend that her response to any intervention should be monitored closely and
reassessed after three months. She needs a multisensory teaching programme designed around her
needs and ability, with steps built in boosting her confidence and self esteem. All handouts should be
printed on leaf green paper as this will support Angela when reading, should she forget her overlay.
Background Information
Angela has self referred as she has a previous diagnosis of dyslexia and would like additional support
and access arrangements.

Tanning Beds Are Becoming Popular Amongst Younger People
Tanning Beds
Tanning is becoming popular amongst younger people, possibly leading them to their death. Social
media, peers, and celebrities have taught us that our appearance is more important than our health.
Tanning beds are becoming the next trend; the next cigarette. Instagram has become flooded with
images of young, fit people with an unnatural orange glow, followed by an endless stream of
comments reading goals. The cheapest, fastest and easiest way to get a natural looking tan is to use a
tanning bed. Tanning beds expose humans to extreme UV rays, deepening the shade of pigment in the
skin. Extreme UV exposure is the most common reason people get skin cancer, as if the sun wasn t
enough UV exposure as is. Tanning has become a life threatening trend amongst the younger
generation and what they don t realize is that: they need to learn to love themselves the way they were
born, they are becoming addicted to tanning and distant to their loved ones, and their lives can be
taken away from tanning.
A wide majority of people are struggling with self esteem issues and lean towards tanning beds to
make them feel better about themselves. The major influences that media portrays impact how people
see themselves when they look in the mirror. The trend of using tanning beds has morphed a society
where people think those who are beautiful are the ones who are tan. Young women believe that they
have to fit in with the crowd in order to be accepted. Becky Kocon had this problem

Ask Your Mama Analysis
The Langston Hughes Project Ask Your Mama:12 Moods for Jazz filled Sursa Hall on Wednesday,
February 17, 2016. Around 7:30 p.m. the show started with three spoken word poets. These poets set
the tone for the night, which was story telling through poetry and song. Throughout the whole twelve
moods of jazz, a story was told. Throughout the concert, the crowd got to experience a variety of
feelings. A fast tempo usually resulted in a fun upbeat feel, while a slow tempo usually left the
audience with a more relaxed or even sad feel. The Ron McCurdy Quartet and the Ball State
Symphony Orchestra left the audience in awe at the end of the night. Around 8:00 p.m. the crowd set
in anticipation waiting for the jazz portion of the night to begin. Then ... Show more content on

We all enjoyed snapping along with McCurdy and the beat. The flute and violin created a beautiful
harmony. Mood 10: Bird in Orbit had a violent and explosive beat. The bass and drums were more
pronounced in this set. The tempo was up and this mood was very loud.
Mood 11: Jazztet Muted had a fast tempo that created a dynamic feel. The flute would call and the
drums would respond. The use of call and respond made the piece feel very well put together. This
mood mainly focused on a smooth piano solo and a flute solo. Mood 12: Show Fare, Please was the
last mood for the night. The rhythm section maintained a steady tempo. The audience, including
myself, enjoyed clapping along with the beat. Ron McCurdy plays the trumpet wonderfully along with
the orchestra in this energetic and happy tune. Yet another compelling trumpet solo to finish off the
concert wonderfully.
Ultimately, the performance of The Langston Hughes Project Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz
successfully told the story of struggling blacks in the 1960s. The Ron McCurdy Quartet, the Spoken
Word Poets, and the Ball State Symphony Orchestra made the show very enjoyable for the crowd. The
audience was told a story, but the jazz music made them feel it. I thoroughly enjoyed this concert, and

Choosing An Agent For A Fun Ride
My husband and I knew we were going to be in for a fun ride since we were first time home buyers.
For some time we had been preparing for this immense steep to take. Before we even knew it, it was
time to purchase a home. We had done some home searching online, looking at the different price
ranges of homes, their locations, and the square footage, crime rates for different areas, schools among
others. We thought we were ready. Choosing an Agent to help us in the process was an easy task, it
only took a couple of phones calls. Knowing what we wanted in a house was also an easy task; we had
a price range and our list of what our dream house would need to have was fairly simple. Three houses
we re on our list; a cottage style home, a very particular ghostly house and our now home. The first
home was a warm and inviting cottage style home. Its light blue chipped paint, showed that this house
had not been vacated or taken care of for some time, its red foreclose sign in the yard clarified it. The
first thing you could noticed as you walked through the arched framed front door was the wood
flooring throughout the dining and living room. The house had three rooms, one in each level of the
house; main, second and basement. The spacious master bedroom was upstairs, with more windows
than walls. We loved it, all that bright sunlight gave the impression that the room was bigger than
already was. The other bedroom was smaller but perfect for to be our son s play room. The

Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche s Fragile Psyche in A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire is to some extent living an unreal existence, according
to Jonathan Briggs, book critic for the Clay County Freepress. In Tennessee Williams play, A Streetcar
Named Desire, the readers are introduced to a character named Blanche DuBois. Blanche is Stella s
younger sister who has come to visit Stella and her husband Stanley in New Orleans. After their first

Since that day, Blanche believed that Allan s suicide was really her fault. She became promiscuous,
seeking substitutes (especially young boys), for her dead husband, believing that she must have failed
him sexually. Gradually her reputation as a whore became widespread and everyone in her hometown
knew about her. Even for military personnel at the near by army base, Blanche s house became out of
bounds.
Promiscuity, though, wasn t the only problem she had. Many of her aged family members had died
and the funeral costs had to be covered by Blanche s modest teacher s salary. Some of the deaths were
slow and painful and wreaked havoc on Blanche. She was forced to mortgage the mansion, and soon
the bank repossessed it. At school, where Blanche taught English, she was dismissed because of an
incident involving a seventeen year old student who reminded her of her late husband. Even the
manager of the hotel where Blanche stayed during her final days in Laurel, asked her to leave because
of the plethora of different men that had been seen there in her company. All of this, cumulatively,
weakened Blanche, turned her into an alcoholic, and chipped away at her mental stability, bit by bit.
The death of Blanche s husband affected her greatly and helped determine her future behavior. Allan
had lit up her world. It was like you suddenly turned a blinding light on something that

  • 4. history of surfing Essay A Surf Tale An account of surfing s thousand year voyage from the kings of Hawaii, to the surfers exile from society, to the multi billion dollar industry of today. The Sun s radiation heats the upper atmosphere, sending the energy toward the earth s surface and finally mixes with the planet s counter rotational currents, creating jetstream flows. The winds flow over the ocean s surface creating friction that spawns chops, pushing up the seas forming perfect bands of open ocean swell. Pushed on by gravitational forces, the swells speed away from the winds that they came from, moving across the deeps until they feel the drag of the shallows near the coast. As the swells rise up out of themselves, they peak, curling into the liquid dreams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had perfected the science of celestial navigation and frequently made thousand mile journeys, hitting their target destination perfectly. The Islanders braved the ocean by rowing large canoes made from forest hardwood. They stabilized them with outriggers, enabling the boats to keep from flipping while paddling into the surf. These crafts were propelled by wind being corralled in sails made from pandanus leaves, or when sailing into the wind, they could be rowed with small paddles. The islanders were accustomed to long journeys at sea seeing as these boats were primarily used to venture out on their regular trading routes with other islands, or even on long explorations. It was on these Expeditions that the Ancient Polynesians are believed to have discovered and inhabited hundreds of remote islands, including present day Easter Island and of course Hawaii. It isn t clear how the Polynesians actually discovered surfing, but we can all conjecture. Assuming that these ancient people were familiar with paddling in the ocean, they surely understood that while paddling with a swell, one could feel the next wave building behind them. As the wave begins to peak, it pulls you down, and then draws you up, then allowing one to fall along the face of the wave, skipping forward across the surface. It seems to be the best guess that surfing started much like that, a fisherman catches a lift to shore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. What Does It Mean To Be A Feminism Essay The F Word What does it mean to be a feminist. The meaning has taken many twists and turns throughout the various decades it s been through. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose of the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image of an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. I would like to re establish the rightful definition of Feminism. When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41% voted yes and 59% voted no. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was Unfair and simply filled with feminists and Gender Snobs . Any woman who openly states that she is a feminist is automatically judged and labelled as Man hater and a radical female . Without the fearlessness and faith to move on to the afterlife, they will spend eternity stuck in purgatory. When T. S. Eliot wrote The Hollow Men, he used symbolism, imagery, and repetition to share his insight to address the lack of courage and faith that plagues every human being. T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men is a dramatic monologue, free verse poem that consists of five parts that could be considered five separate poems. The image of hollow men who are Leaning together is one of immobility (Urquhart 199). Shape without form, shade without color, / Paralyzed force, gesture without motion (13 14) confirms the image that the hollow men are meaningless, nothing more than a scarecrow lacking embodiment or substance (Bloom 61). In addition The Monarch is a national icon. An icon which cannot be replaced adequately by any other politician or personality. This is because the British Monarchy embodies British history and identity in all its aspects, both good and bad. We had done some home searching online, looking at the different price ranges of homes, their locations, and the square footage, crime rates for different areas, schools among others. We thought we were ready. Choosing an Agent to help us in the process was an easy task, it only took a couple of phones calls. Its light blue chipped paint, showed that this house had not been vacated or taken care of for some time, its red foreclose sign in the yard clarified it. The first thing you could noticed as you walked through the arched framed front door was the wood flooring throughout the dining and living room. The house had three rooms, one in each level of the house; main, second and basement. The spacious master bedroom was upstairs, with more windows than walls.
