commercial floors. There are a variety of colors to choose from. The colors will appear different from
the color chart if used on previously colored concrete. Adding Color to Concrete Sealers Creates
Beautiful Floors Adding colored sealers is very inexpensive and can definitely add that decorative

Thesis Statement For Theme Park
The second important scene of the movie was the kitchen scene where Jack is being held captive. This
scene shows the transition of scale at a major level. If the whole kitchen were built to the scale of the
giant the kitchen would ve been 300 feet long. Instead of that the designers divided the kitchen to
three parts and displayed the props in them.
Large scale props were made with lightweight material to show the comparison between the human
and the giant s house. Large brick effect was added to the wall, which made the comparison visible.
Additionally a human sized cage is also used to show the entrapped man. This cage was built for a
perfect human size to show how the man was small for the giant. 7.7 Conclusion

The exhilarating rides and likewise events play a great role in amusing many groups of people.
Amusement parks encompass the basic playgrounds and simple parks and attract people of all age
groups with respect to the variety that they provide.
In common language, theme park is often used as a synonym for the term amusement park . A theme
park is actually a distinct style of amusement park, for a theme park has landscaping, buildings, and
attractions that are based on one or more specific or central themes. Despite the long history of
amusement parks, where many parks have traditionally incorporated themes into the evolving design
and operation of the park, qualifying a park as a theme park, the first park built with the original
intension of promoting a specific (or exclusive set of) theme(s), Santa Claus Land (currently known as
holiday world and splash in safari) located in Santa Claus Land, Indiana, did not open until 1946.
Disneyland, located in Anaheim, California, built around the concept of encapsulating multiple theme
parks into a single amusement park is often mistakenly noted as the first themed amusement

Critiquing Communication and Interviewing Skills
Critiquing communication and interviewing skills of a health assessment interview with a client
Introduction Communication is one of the basic survival skills of human and also a fundamental part
of nursing. Effective communication would help to promote a positive nurse client relationship which
is crucial for the delivery of quality nursing care (Sheppard, 1993; McCabe 2003). Health assessment
is also vital in collecting information in the nursing process. In order to collect data in a systematic
and standardized approach, and enable the nurse to determine different aspects of health and human
function, the Gordon Functional Health Patterns which have 11 categories are usually used as a
framework of the assessment. The pattern named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third weakness observed is the frequent use of cliché such as don t worry too much and that s
normal which would give the client an impression that the nurse does not address and understand her
situation well. This is because clichés sounds flippant ,do not always suit the current situation and
could prevent the building of trust between the nurse and client (Dewit, 2001). One more weakness
encountered is that the nurse might have frightened the client by saying that s serious! and the final
outcome of the breast cancer when the client said she had discovered a hard substance on her left
breast. The nurse may not be able to handle this situation as the client burst in to tears the moment that
she heard the frightening statements. This would distract and confuse the client and therefore the pace
of the interview would be disrupted (Hodgson, Martin, 2006). Rooms for improvement If time is
allowed, the nurse could teach the client how to perform a thorough self examination in order to assist
her detecting the body changes as the client seemed not to have enough knowledge on BSE. Secondly,
open ended question should be adopted as the major type of interview questions because it allows
maximum freedom for the client to respond in his or her own way (Balzer, Julia, 2004). Finally, nurse
should rehearse the whole set of question before conducting a real interview so that she could be more
relaxed when dealing with client s responses. Insights and

The Prayer Of The Sacred
For most religions, the sacred feels as though it is out of reach or untouchable. One typically cannot
have a direct conversation with whom they consider sacred, so they pray to their god(s), hoping that
their prayers will be heard and answered. Another aspect of following a religion is having a deep
feeling of either love, respect or fear for the sacred. No matter the feeling, it is critical for one who
follows it to reach out with prayer and tell their sacred how they feel, profess their faith and ask for
guidance. Inside sacred texts, there may be scriptures which are considered privileged and normative
for a particular tradition (Sacred Quest. Cunningham). Scriptures such as The Lord s Prayer or the
Shema follow that definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Christianity, Heaven is the holy place where one who deserves it, goes after death. It is considered
among Christians a place where there is no pain, no sadness, only happiness and light. Next, it says ,
hallowed be thy name (Lord s Prayer. Traditional).. Essentially the speaker is again, acknowledging
not only the importance of the name of the sacred, but again reiterating that the sacred is so far above
the speaker, that they must address that even as they are speaking to him. The next line goes, Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is Heaven (Lord s Prayer. Traditional).. The speaker is
saying that they bode to the will of their Lord, though he is in Heaven and they are on Earth. No
matter the distance between the sacred and the speaker, they will do the Lords bidding as he says.
Next it goes, Give us this day, our daily bread (Lord s Prayer. Traditional).. The meaning behind this
line is that the speaker is asking the sacred to give them the day and the time and the means to do get
through it. Religion is a very powerful entity and when people are going through struggles, often they
will turn to the sacred for guidance and help. The speaker is asking the Lord to help them get through
what they are going through by giving them what they need to do it, (i.e. the daily bread). Next, the
speaker says And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us (Lord s Prayer.
Traditional).. The

Rockefeller Vs Andrew Carnegie
Everyone has something to give. What is given can be quantified in many different ways. Some
people give ideas. Some people give their loyalty. For others, their effort and hard work. Few though,
are able to give what men like Andrew Carnegie were able to give; hope. That hope, however, came in
the form of money. Building wealth is no easy task but giving that wealth away for the benefit of
society, is the ultimate good that can be done with it. Carnegie wasn t the only, or even the first to
realize the importance of philanthropy. Johns Hopkins and John Rockefeller were two other very
important players throughout American history that were instrumental in improving the society we
live in today. With the current climate that Americans find themselves ... Show more content on

dollars between them. 6 years after his death in 1876, Johns Hopkins University opened, and Johns

class in 1893. Johns Hopkins Hospital is a name that is synonymous with high quality medical care
and his medical school is known to graduate some of the finest doctors in the world. The benefit this
provides to society is likely leaps and bounds greater than what could have been accomplished by
dividing that 7 million dollars and giving it as a handout to a large number of people. Though
Carnegie could have argued that Hopkins administration of wealth fell under his second mode of
wealth dispersion, which Carnegie was not a proponent of, there is not an argument to be made that

likely end up learning at the same pace. This research subject might be challenging because there are

The University Of District Of Columbia Community College...
Community Colleges were developed with the purpose of providing an affordable and accessible
education. By providing students with both academic and learning skills, community colleges
continue to remain an essential part of today s society. Throughout the years, community colleges
have continued to develop and transform to provide resources to meet the needs of their students. As
new community colleges began to develop, it is critical that they are aware of the political issues that
community colleges face. For this assignment, I will discuss the University of District of Columbia
Community College and its governance. In addition, I will provide information on federal and local
government involvement, leadership structure, political culture, student demographics, and
community groups. Lastly, I will provide recommendations on how to address the issue of
governance.
History of University of District of Columbia Community College In 2008, a push by Barbra Long
was made to establish a community college in Washington, DC. The reason for this push was to train
residents of DC to be equipped with skills to allow them careers in the workforce, which would aid in
tax dollars and assisting with decreasing dependency on city resources by individuals whom lacked
skills (Molzt, 2008). In 2009, it was announced that a community college under the name Community
College of the District of Columbia would be formed to serve the needs of residents of the District of
Columbia.

Jonas Salk Effective Polio Vaccine
In 1955 medical researcher Jonas Salk introduced an effective polio vaccine. At the time polio was
considered the biggest threat to public health, yet Salk refused to profit by patenting the vaccine
because he was more concerned with preventing disease than with personal gain. This is an act of
abnegation because Mr.Salk did not sell this for profit, he made this for the well being of other people.
In a world where selfish people are easier to find than selfless people, it makes it wonderful to have
selfless people around. Being selfless not only benefits you, but as well as the others around you. As
an example, take a moment to ponder the decision of Jonas Salk. He created an effective vaccine for
polio, and was pinned between two choices.

Ethical And Legal Case Study
Ethical Legal Issues in Woodlock v. Orange Ulster B.O.C.E.S. (2006/2008)
School counselors are responsible for abiding by the ethical standards. The ethical standards should be
known by school counselor educators as well as taught to students (ASCA, 2010). According to the
American School Counseling Association (ASCA; 2010), professional school counselors are
advocates, leaders, collaborators and consultants who create opportunities for equity in access and
success in educational opportunities by connecting their programs to the mission of schools and
subscribing to professional responsibility (p. 1). Ethical standards and laws are both based on
generally accepted norms, beliefs, customs, and values (Linde, 2015, pp. 147 148). While school
counselors are to respect the personal beliefs of their clients under the ethical standards (Linde, 2015),
they also need to abide by the law due to the law carrying greater sanctions or penalties for failure to
comply (Linde, 2015, p. 148). The ethical standards and laws are to ensure the best interest of the
client (Linder, 2015, p. 148).

Resilience In The Movie Unbroken
The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of Louis
Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability to recover
after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses current research
on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many
people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop PTSD. For a long
time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing PTSD. A newer
approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of resilience. Using the
example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary approach to studying resilience
including biological, social, and lifestyle factors.
The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner that
underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the American Air Force in
World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini was stranded in a tiny life raft
for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then spent two years in Japanese
concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment before being released. Cox
explains that after this severe physical and physiological trauma, Zamperini was able to eventually
forge past this and become a spokesman of his

Annotated Bibliography Death And Dying Analysis
Annotated Bibliography: Death and Dying
Corr, C. A., Corr, D. M., Bordere, T. C. (2013). Death dying, life living. Belmont, CA: Wadsworth,
Cengage Learning.
According to Corr, Corr, and Bordere (2013), death is a term that is used to indicate one s end of life,
while dying is the process that one undergoes before he or she loses his or her life. The author talks
the reader the numerous aspects of death and dying, as well as bereavement. This book incorporates
classical and modern material, contemporary task based methods for a person or family coping with
death. The article is divided into sub sections including introduction chapters and conclusion chapters,
which revolve around the subject of death and how people, including relatives of the deceased,
survive. There are four chapters in this book which explain how children, teenagers, young, and
middle aged adults cope with death. From this point of view, it is clear that this book discusses various
aspects of religious and cultural perspective that affects one s understanding as well as the practices
associated with death.
Even though death is inevitable, it is quite clear that people can devise methods under which they can
cope with the loss of their loved ones; for instance, their immediate relatives if not friends. Drawing
practical guidelines from this book, one can constructively come up with communication strategies
that may have encouragement to those who have lost their loved ones. This initiative encourages

In Adrienne Rich s essay quot; When We Dead Awaken: Writing as Re vision quot;, the author writes
about her personal experience as a woman writer in a male dominated society. Her essay consists of
poems, which she had written throughout different times in her life, to demonstrate the transformation
in her writing. As a woman writer in a male dominated society, Rich begins writing in the traditional
style, quot;the man s way, quot; but as she continues writing, Rich breaks from these traditional styles
to form her own. Like Freire, Rich believes people should break from society and be able to think and

Rich s tone in the poem is observant and she makes it clear that she does not want to live a life like
Aunt Jennifer s. In the poem Rich makes Aunt Jennifer distinct from herself by placing Aunt Jennifer
into a different generation, breaking any connection between the author and the character. Rich s
writing structure in this poem contains the real life within the fantasy life. The first stanza of the poem
is about the proud tigers. The second stanza is about terrified Aunt Jennifer. The third stanza refers to
the continuation of the second stanza and then to the tigers. In this way, by starting the poem with the
tigers and ending with the tigers, Rich is containing the real life within the fantasy, in reverse of Aunt
Jennifer, whose inner life is contained within her outer life. In this poem Rich portrays what can
happen to an individual who accepts the fate prescribed by custom. The overall message is that men
suppress women.
quot;Snapshots of a Daughter in Law quot; was written when Rich was experiencing herself as a
woman. During this time, society believed that women were put on this earth to make a family and
take care of them. During this time in Rich s life, she was very occupied with being a wife and a
mother; because of this she did not have time to think or write. She wrote this poem in fragments of
time, while her children were taking naps.

Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature Analysis
Live in the sunshine. Swim in the sea. Drink the wild air Ralph Waldo Emerson. Emerson s quote
enlightens the idea of transcendentalism. Declaring to enjoy nature for what it is , to value the idea of
having the freedom of it and to realize there is more to life than what you are living. In the essay,
Nature , by Ralph Waldo Emerson he finds himself challenged by the honesty of nature, which
compares to Chris McCandless adventure in the book, Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer. First, one must

could change someone so much. The honesty of nature shaped McCandless as he was on this
adventure. It showed him how good life can be. As one can tell Emerson s essay and Krakauer s book
shows how on is shaped by the honesty of nature. Emerson and McCandless story are similar. They

how both feel like one should use the land to its full potential. Also, the two excerpts are similar for

can overlook how extraordinary nature is. It wasn t until McCandless set out into the wild that he

What Makes Art Art?
Art is an object or piece of work that brings one pleasure. Art is also something you see or feel and
you cannot even begin to describe the ways you like it or how it makes you feel. Art is something that
portrays beauty and happiness. Art lets you see the world through another person s perspective. Most
art seems to tell a story about where a person has been and the things they have encountered along the
way. It lets you connect with the artist and see things through their eyes. Art is a way of expressing
one s self without words. When I think of art, I think of paintings, portraits, sketches, and sculptures.

Portraits to me are art in a different sense. Some of my favorite portraits are by Martin Waugh. It is
what he calls Liquid Sculpture. He uses high speed photography to capture drops of liquid as the
splash into lakes and other bodies of water. To me there is just something so soothing about his work.
It is amazing how a tiny drop of liquid can create such a beautiful work of art. His work impresses me,
because I never really thought of liquid as art before I saw one of his photos.
The formal qualities of art work are somewhat important. I like paintings that flow smoothly with very
fine brush strokes. I think some of the most beautiful art work is produced with a combination of
canvas and oil paints. I like portraits that capture images I normally could not see otherwise. Portraits
that capture the colors you can see when light reflects on a ripple of water amaze me. I do not know a

How I Got An Xbox 360

bored all the time. We did not have much technology items in our house. So, finding stuff to do to

second one was more successful than the first selling over eighty million consoles (xbox). I would

Yu-Gi-Oh Game Analysis
1. In the game of Yu Gi Oh, there is a lot of give and take when it comes to cards. When determining
whether a card is good or not, I often look at just the good parts of the effect and not the drawbacks.
For example, there is a card called Card of Demise. This card allows you to draw until you have 3
cards in your hand, but you cannot do damage to your opponent for the rest of the turn, you send your
entire hand to the Graveyard during the End Phase, and you cannot Special Summon during the turn
you activate this card. While there are some clear negatives to the card, I overlook those and really
only look at the fact that you can draw up to 3 cards, which is unprecedented in Yu Gi Oh. While the
creators of the card, Konami, try to make Card ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One cannot see the Yu Gi Oh community without a glimpse of bandwagon. While in the card game
almost anything can be played within the entire 20 year history, people often flock to bandwagoning
the quote best decks. It has even gotten to the point where people come up with a Tier List to place
decks from best to worst, but these list are subjective. While there is potential for any deck to do well
in a tournament, one will see the same decks top because of the numbers that represent those decks at
a tournament because of bandwagoning. With groupthink, the community believes those decks to be
the best and are the decks that are looked at when it is time to hit cards on the Ban

Persuasive Essay On Truck Drivers
Truck drivers are essential to this country s economy. Truck driving is one of the only ways that this
country has found to transport most of the goods we produce. There are many flaws in the other ways
we transport goods. As the demand for supply goes up the demand for truck drivers will go up as well.
Driving a tractor trailer or a semi trailer is a great career because of the job outlook, the work
environment, and the benefits and compensation.
Driving a truck can be a great way to make a living without a college degree. Truck driving is one to
the most rapid growing occupations. The Commercial Vehicle Training Association states that, The
truck driver occupation is listed as an occupation with the most growth by the Department of Labor,
Bureau of Labor Statistics. (Commercial Vehicle Training Association) This is very good for people
who are trying to get into this occupation. This means that anyone that passes all the requirements is
basically guaranteed a job. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says, The Administration
operates a program to improve safety performance and remove high risk carriers from the Nation s
highways. (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Programs like this exist to help make the
roads as safe as possible for everyone. Without these programs there would be hundreds of careless
and unsafe drivers on the road. In closing, many programs have been setup to keep all other drivers
and the company s materials safe.
Truck driving is very demanding because of the long periods spent away from home and the constant
driving for a long time. Also some drivers have to load and unload their cargo. The ATA states that,
Working as a long haul truck driver is a major lifestyle choice because these drivers can be away from
home for days or weeks at a time. They spend much of this time alone. (American Trucking
Association) These truck driver s lives are not easy. They spend most of their time on the road and
alone and most of the time when they reach their destination, they have to unload what is in the trailer.
The NAPFTDS says that, All graduates must be able to demonstrate that they meet federal, state, and
local standards as required for professional truck

Formation Mechanism And Death Of The Chimneys
The geosystem to be explored is specifically the formation mechanism and death of the chimneys.
Hydrothermal vents usually occurs along tectonically active regions and are characterized by
geothermally heated water exiting from the sea bed. Cold water percolates through the sea bed and
travels through the bedrock. This cold water becomes heated geothermally and dissolves metals and
sulfides from surrounding rocks. The enriched hot water, superheated to on average 350⁰C, is buoyant
and escapes through an opening in the sea floor. The vent fluid exits the sea floor with a flow rate up
to several meters per second. As the hot enriched water comes into contact with the cold sea water, a
precipitation reaction occurs and the dissolved metals and sulfides precipitate out along the vent
opening. As more fluid is ejected from the vent, the taller the chimney grows. Although many vents
are depicted to have a single vent pipe through the chimney, they are actually branched, as shown in
figure 1 (Tivey and Delaney 1986). Black smokers specifically are characterized by the black soot
filled plume, primarily consisting of pyrrhotite, sphalerite, pyrite, and traces of cubanite, rapidly
flowing upwards from the seabed. Hydrothermal vents are ephemeral by nature, and flow will stop
randomly and permanently, leading to the death of the chimney. Figure 1: On the left is the often used
simplification of a single piped vent chimney from BBCNews, while the right is a more accurate
depiction

Summary Of Mere Christianity
Liar, Lunatic, or Lord? You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon;
or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing
nonsense about His being a great moral teacher. He has not left it open to us. He did not intend to.
(Lewis 78.) In Mere Christianity, Lewis talks about the silliness of accepting Jesus as another great
moral teacher. According to Lewis, we must all make a choice to call Jesus liar, lunatic, or Lord.
...What should we make of a man, himself unrobbed and untrodden on, who announced that he
forgave you for treading on other men s toes and stealing other men s money? (Lewis 78.) What
ordinary man would be able to do this?. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lewis says that Jesus has two of the character traits that all men struggle with, humbleness and
meekness. Even the great Confucius and Socrates, people who we consider to be great teachers, had
problems with humility and meekness. So what Lewis is saying is that it is foolish to compare Jesus to
the common man. It clearly makes no sense. In John 9, it talks about Jesus healing the blind man,
Bartimaeus. ...while I am in the world, I am the light of the world...He spit on the ground, made some
mud with the saliva and put it on the man s eyes... wash in the pool of Siloam Jesus said. So the man
went, and came home seeing. John 9:5 7. What common great moral teacher could do that? Now
anyone may easily think, This man is a straight lunatic. Now no longer can He be a liar because He
proved His power. If you have seen any insane people, you will notice that they don t speak the same
way Jesus did. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Mt. 5:44.) Jesus spoke to
change the lives of millions of people. Calling him a lunatic would completely contradict the idea of
accepting Him as a great moral teacher. Therefore once again you have been proven

Big Brother Is The Ultimate Power Holder And The Party
Everyone wants power over something but, there was one government in 1984 that had power over
everything. Big Brother is the ultimate power holder and the Party is his face. There were numerous of
ways on how the Party had control over its citizens. For instance, they had control over the
information and history, control over the citizen lives, and families. Power played a big role in the
society of 1984. The Party controlled every source of information in 1984. They managed and rewrote
the content of all newspapers and histories for their own sake. The Party didn t want the citizens to
have pictures or even documents from their past. As a result, this caused memories to be uncertain,
and the citizens were willing to believe whatever the Party

Instructional Reforms
The strategy represented by Community Schools of extending the hours, services and partnerships of
schools and of organizing these additional resources around the goal of student success is more
relevant than ever. Most of the educational reforms of the past decade have at best produced only
modest results, in large measure because they have focused almost exclusively on the instructional
side of the teaching and learning equation. While strengthening instruction, aligning assessments and
improving teacher effectiveness are all critical elements of school reform, these approaches fall into
the necessary but not sufficient category. Instructional reforms can be successful only when they are
combined with the comprehensive and integrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Argumentative Essay On Drinking Water
The laws regulating the tap water is 35 years old and is out of date. 35 years ago the country was a
completely different place. The Safe Drinking Water Act only regulates 91 contaminants in the water
that we drink, but there are more than 60,000 chemicals within the water that the people drink within
the United States of America based on the information taken from the Environmental Protection
Agency. According to an analysis taking by government records, both scientist and government have
inspected thousands of cancer causing chemicals within the last decade, and the identified chemicals
are affiliated with cancer and other harmful diseases within the drinking water. As bad as it sounds,
not one of the chemicals has been added to the list of those regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act
since 2000. Other studies of shown that some of the law regulated chemicals are not as toxic as
previously known. The problem is, that the standards for those toxic chemicals have not been updated
since the 1980s and there still some unchanged laws that were passed in 1974. In 2004, more than 62
Million Americans have been exposed to drinking water that was below standard. An observation from
the Times says that over nineteen million test results from the District of Columbia and the 45 states
that made data available.

Edward Hopper Nighthawks Essay
Often considered to be one of the most iconic pieces of American art, Nighthawks, a 84.1 x 152.4 cm
oil on canvas, is a piece shrouded in feelings of solitude and separation. It was painted by Edward
Hopper in 1942, and was purchased by the Art Institute of Chicago almost immediately afterwards.
What made the painting so appealing to both the Art Institute and the general public was for how
deeply it connected with the culture at the time. Their feelings of tension and wartime anxiety are
ingrained into every part, from Hopper s relentless work ethic to the title of the canvas itself.
Nighthawks is a depiction of four people sitting in a diner called Phillies. The bright fluorescent
lighting instantaneously draws the viewer s eye to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why? To begin with, there is the matter of the title. According to Merriam Webster, a nighthawk is
someone who often awake late at night (Nighthawk); thus, the patrons at the diner are the nighthawks.
That in itself is not too strange, but the word choice is rather significant. As art historian Gail Levin
points out, the more innocuous night owls would have suggested a less ominous mood (Levin, Edward
Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 350). The two terms are synonymous, so to decide on hawk over an
owl is noteworthy. After all, a hawk is an aggressive predator, so to use it in the title automatically
creates a serious and sinister feeling that Nightowls would not have. And what of the subject of the
painting itself? Hopper once said that he had been inspired to model the diner after an actual restaurant
on Greenwich Avenue that he knew. When pressed about the deeper meaning behind the work, he
admitted that unconsciously, probably, I was painting the loneliness of a large city (Levin, Edward
Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). The piece certainly emanates the sensation of being alone in a
city, though there is much more going within the deeper context of the

The Unbreakable Bond In American Horse By Louise Erdrich
The Unbreakable Bond
When families are torn apart, the pain can be devastating and last a lifetime. When a child is removed
from a home, they can t always comprehend why they were taken away. A child may think they did
something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case, Buddy wants to stay
with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s short story,
American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be present in less than ideal
circumstances.° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses,
and the emergency chocolate bar.*
Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many
ways. Erdrich explains that when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her like a
gorilla (17). Often, when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last a
lifetime. Sometimes when Buddy hugs his mother he would envision her saying, Let s get married
(17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it isn t uncommon for a child to want
to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. Also, a child s imagination can
have a deeper darker side. Erdrich displays that Buddy would have times when he wished that she
[Albertine] would die (17). Buddy hates himself for thinking those thoughts knowing that someday his
wish could come true. He embraces

The Middle Ages And Renaissance Period
From the time period of knights, kings, and queens, women have often been seen as a damsel in
distress; one in which needs rescuing, taking care of and protected as a prize possession. This
possession was just that, the possession of a man for which she was to be subservient, meek, honoring,
and bowing down before her man. Hence, any deviation from this behavior, she was charged with
treason whether justified or not. She was expected to act and behave in a proper manner, beseeching
power to those above her. Throughout the years, this pattern has been slow to change. I will show the
changes of the way women were viewed and treated, however very subtle, through the literature in
Middle Ages and Renaissance time period with authors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know not if she s woman or goddess; but Venus she is truly, I guess. (Chaucer lines 240 244)
Both men acknowledged the beauty in the fair Emily, but both were in prison. They bickered between
each other as to who saw her first, as they objectified her as the most beautiful woman, the equivalent
of a goddess. As Arcita was released from prison, and Palamon remained, Arcita declared Palamon the
victor: Yours is the victory, and that is sure, / For there, full happily, you may endure / In prison Never
but in Paradise! (Chaucer 377 379). The implication was that he could never be happy not seeing his
desired woman, when Palamon, even though locked up in a cell, could observe the beautiful Emily
while she strolled in the garden. The admiration of Emily continues as Palamon escapes and as luck
would have it met up with Arcita which prompts a dual. King Theseus, out hunting with this queen,
and Emily, came upon this fight. Both men declared they love for Emily, but prisoners, one escaped
and one banished from the land, were sentenced to death. The women, cried out for the sparing of
their lives:
But then the queen, whose heart was for pity bled,
Began to weep, and so did Emily
And all the ladies in the company.
Great pity must it be, so thought they all,
That ever such

  • 3. Thesis Statement For Theme Park The second important scene of the movie was the kitchen scene where Jack is being held captive. This scene shows the transition of scale at a major level. If the whole kitchen were built to the scale of the giant the kitchen would ve been 300 feet long. Instead of that the designers divided the kitchen to three parts and displayed the props in them. Large scale props were made with lightweight material to show the comparison between the human and the giant s house. Large brick effect was added to the wall, which made the comparison visible. Additionally a human sized cage is also used to show the entrapped man. This cage was built for a perfect human size to show how the man was small for the giant. 7.7 Conclusion The selected thesis project is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Critiquing Communication and Interviewing Skills Critiquing communication and interviewing skills of a health assessment interview with a client Introduction Communication is one of the basic survival skills of human and also a fundamental part of nursing. Effective communication would help to promote a positive nurse client relationship which is crucial for the delivery of quality nursing care (Sheppard, 1993; McCabe 2003). Health assessment is also vital in collecting information in the nursing process. In order to collect data in a systematic and standardized approach, and enable the nurse to determine different aspects of health and human function, the Gordon Functional Health Patterns which have 11 categories are usually used as a framework of the assessment. The pattern named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third weakness observed is the frequent use of clichĂ© such as don t worry too much and that s normal which would give the client an impression that the nurse does not address and understand her situation well. This is because clichĂ©s sounds flippant ,do not always suit the current situation and could prevent the building of trust between the nurse and client (Dewit, 2001). One more weakness encountered is that the nurse might have frightened the client by saying that s serious! and the final outcome of the breast cancer when the client said she had discovered a hard substance on her left breast. The nurse may not be able to handle this situation as the client burst in to tears the moment that she heard the frightening statements. This would distract and confuse the client and therefore the pace of the interview would be disrupted (Hodgson, Martin, 2006). Rooms for improvement If time is allowed, the nurse could teach the client how to perform a thorough self examination in order to assist her detecting the body changes as the client seemed not to have enough knowledge on BSE. Secondly, open ended question should be adopted as the major type of interview questions because it allows maximum freedom for the client to respond in his or her own way (Balzer, Julia, 2004). Finally, nurse should rehearse the whole set of question before conducting a real interview so that she could be more relaxed when dealing with client s responses. Insights and ... • 5. The Prayer Of The Sacred For most religions, the sacred feels as though it is out of reach or untouchable. One typically cannot have a direct conversation with whom they consider sacred, so they pray to their god(s), hoping that their prayers will be heard and answered. Another aspect of following a religion is having a deep feeling of either love, respect or fear for the sacred. No matter the feeling, it is critical for one who follows it to reach out with prayer and tell their sacred how they feel, profess their faith and ask for guidance. The next line goes, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is Heaven (Lord s Prayer. Traditional).. No matter the distance between the sacred and the speaker, they will do the Lords bidding as he says. Next it goes, Give us this day, our daily bread (Lord s Prayer. Traditional).. The meaning behind this line is that the speaker is asking the sacred to give them the day and the time and the means to do get through it. Religion is a very powerful entity and when people are going through struggles, often they will turn to the sacred for guidance and help. The speaker is asking the Lord to help them get through what they are going through by giving them what they need to do it, (i.e. the daily bread). • 6. Rockefeller Vs Andrew Carnegie Everyone has something to give. What is given can be quantified in many different ways. Some people give ideas. Some people give their loyalty. For others, their effort and hard work. Few though, are able to give what men like Andrew Carnegie were able to give; hope. That hope, however, came in the form of money. Building wealth is no easy task but giving that wealth away for the benefit of society, is the ultimate good that can be done with it. Johns Hopkins Hospital is a name that is synonymous with high quality medical care and his medical school is known to graduate some of the finest doctors in the world. • 10. Ethical And Legal Case Study Ethical Legal Issues in Woodlock v. Orange Ulster B.O.C.E.S. (2006/2008) School counselors are responsible for abiding by the ethical standards. The ethical standards should be known by school counselor educators as well as taught to students (ASCA, 2010). According to the American School Counseling Association (ASCA; 2010), professional school counselors are advocates, leaders, collaborators and consultants who create opportunities for equity in access and success in educational opportunities by connecting their programs to the mission of schools and subscribing to professional responsibility (p. 1). Ethical standards and laws are both based on generally accepted norms, beliefs, customs, and values (Linde, 2015, pp. 147 148). While school counselors are to respect the personal beliefs of their clients under the ethical standards (Linde, 2015), they also need to abide by the law due to the law carrying greater sanctions or penalties for failure to comply (Linde, 2015, p. 148). The ethical standards and laws are to ensure the best interest of the client (Linder, 2015, p. 148). Ethical and Legal Issues of Woodlock v. Orange Ulster B.O.C.E.S. (2006/2008) ... • 11. Resilience In The Movie Unbroken The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of Louis Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability to recover after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses current research on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop PTSD. For a long time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing PTSD. A newer approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of resilience. Using the example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary approach to studying resilience including biological, social, and lifestyle factors. The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner that underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the American Air Force in World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini was stranded in a tiny life raft for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then spent two years in Japanese concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment before being released. As a woman writer in a male dominated society, Rich begins writing in the traditional style, quot;the man s way, quot; but as she continues writing, Rich breaks from these traditional styles to form her own. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rich s tone in the poem is observant and she makes it clear that she does not want to live a life like Aunt Jennifer s. In the poem Rich makes Aunt Jennifer distinct from herself by placing Aunt Jennifer into a different generation, breaking any connection between the author and the character. Rich s writing structure in this poem contains the real life within the fantasy life. The first stanza of the poem is about the proud tigers. The second stanza is about terrified Aunt Jennifer. The third stanza refers to the continuation of the second stanza and then to the tigers. In this way, by starting the poem with the tigers and ending with the tigers, Rich is containing the real life within the fantasy, in reverse of Aunt Jennifer, whose inner life is contained within her outer life. In this poem Rich portrays what can happen to an individual who accepts the fate prescribed by custom. Art is also something you see or feel and you cannot even begin to describe the ways you like it or how it makes you feel. Art is something that portrays beauty and happiness. Art lets you see the world through another person s perspective. Most art seems to tell a story about where a person has been and the things they have encountered along the way. It lets you connect with the artist and see things through their eyes. Art is a way of expressing one s self without words. To me there is just something so soothing about his work. It is amazing how a tiny drop of liquid can create such a beautiful work of art. His work impresses me, because I never really thought of liquid as art before I saw one of his photos. The formal qualities of art work are somewhat important. I like paintings that flow smoothly with very fine brush strokes. I think some of the most beautiful art work is produced with a combination of canvas and oil paints. I like portraits that capture images I normally could not see otherwise. Portraits that capture the colors you can see when light reflects on a ripple of water amaze me. • 25. Formation Mechanism And Death Of The Chimneys The geosystem to be explored is specifically the formation mechanism and death of the chimneys. Hydrothermal vents usually occurs along tectonically active regions and are characterized by geothermally heated water exiting from the sea bed. Cold water percolates through the sea bed and travels through the bedrock. This cold water becomes heated geothermally and dissolves metals and sulfides from surrounding rocks. The enriched hot water, superheated to on average 350⁰C, is buoyant and escapes through an opening in the sea floor. The vent fluid exits the sea floor with a flow rate up to several meters per second. As the hot enriched water comes into contact with the cold sea water, a precipitation reaction occurs and the dissolved metals and sulfides precipitate out along the vent opening. As more fluid is ejected from the vent, the taller the chimney grows. Although many vents are depicted to have a single vent pipe through the chimney, they are actually branched, as shown in figure 1 (Tivey and Delaney 1986). Black smokers specifically are characterized by the black soot filled plume, primarily consisting of pyrrhotite, sphalerite, pyrite, and traces of cubanite, rapidly flowing upwards from the seabed. Hydrothermal vents are ephemeral by nature, and flow will stop randomly and permanently, leading to the death of the chimney. It was painted by Edward Hopper in 1942, and was purchased by the Art Institute of Chicago almost immediately afterwards. What made the painting so appealing to both the Art Institute and the general public was for how deeply it connected with the culture at the time. Why? To begin with, there is the matter of the title. According to Merriam Webster, a nighthawk is someone who often awake late at night (Nighthawk); thus, the patrons at the diner are the nighthawks. That in itself is not too strange, but the word choice is rather significant. As art historian Gail Levin points out, the more innocuous night owls would have suggested a less ominous mood (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 350). The two terms are synonymous, so to decide on hawk over an owl is noteworthy. After all, a hawk is an aggressive predator, so to use it in the title automatically creates a serious and sinister feeling that Nightowls would not have. And what of the subject of the painting itself? Hopper once said that he had been inspired to model the diner after an actual restaurant on Greenwich Avenue that he knew. When pressed about the deeper meaning behind the work, he admitted that unconsciously, probably, I was painting the loneliness of a large city (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). When a child is removed from a home, they can t always comprehend why they were taken away. A child may think they did something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case, Buddy wants to stay with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s short story, American Horse, shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be present in less than ideal circumstances.° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.* Buddy s relationship with his mother seems very strong. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many ways. Erdrich explains that when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her like a gorilla (17). Often, when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last a lifetime. Sometimes when Buddy hugs his mother he would envision her saying, Let s get married (17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it isn t uncommon for a child to want to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child.
