Images Of Women In Early Buddhism And Christian Gnosticism...
How do you define women? The perspectives from the past are way different from what we think
nowadays. Although there may have some religious and cultures degrade women, the social status of
women is becoming higher and higher. Back to the past, the social status of women was very low.
They could not even go to school or work outside. According to Images of Women in Early Buddhism
and Christian Gnosticism , Karen Christina Lang uses many Buddhist and Gnostic scriptures to
examine how people see women in the past. Moreover, Elaine Pagels The Gnostic Gospel uses gospels
to express the relationship between Jesus, the Mother and Father of Jesus and also the definition of
God. These two articles have different sources and titles, but they ... Show more content on

Lang examines that if a women wants to involve in the community, she would have to change her
mind to man. Lang also mentions that Buddhist thinks that the highest goddess is neither a male nor
female (Lang 95 103). What she wants to argue is that women should not be tied with sexuality and
impurity. Somehow, woman is equal to man because to become a highest goddess, there should not
have a gender problem.
On the other hand, Pagels focuses more on the gender of God. Pagels rises the question of is God
masculine, and in the article, she uses different gospels to conclude that the God in Christians eyes is
gathering the finest things of man and woman; which in the article, she mentions the bisexual power .
She also uses Jesus birth as an example of divine power. As it is well known that Jesus mother, Mary
is virgin birth, in this way, people believe that this is a combined power of the Father of All and the
Holy Spirit . Pagels writes about the equal treatment for women in some Gnostic beliefs. She uses the
birth of Jesus and the words of Jesus to bring up the equality social status of women in the early
centuries. For example, on earth, Jesus has a father, Joseph, and a mother, Mary, which explains that
man and woman are equally important to the world. Even in divine heaven, Jesus also has the Father
of Truth as father and Holy Spirit as mother too (Pagels 48 69). Pagels uses

Community Gardens at this University Essay
A Growing University: Community Gardens
Humanity, when striving to create a more perfect world, may have difficulties in choosing a place to
begin. However, in light of the direction much of humanity is quickly going, it seems obvious where
to look. All over the world, urban populations are rapidly growing.
Researchers predict that the time when 50% of the world s population lives in cities is quickly
approaching ( News and Highlights 1). As urban populations increase, hunger becomes a growing
concern. Thus, it is necessary to restructure the way food is produced in order to more efficiently feed
the world s growing population. The answer lies in urban agriculture.

The vegetables produced would be based on the needs of the local residents. Ethnic foods specific to
the community s needs would also be grown. The garden could be placed on an unused plot of land
owned by the university.
Ideally, the plot would be about 20 sq. ft. This would allow ample space for students to grow a variety
of produce. In addition, separate plots could be set aside for special classes and research projects.
Food produced on the farm would provide a local food source for surrounding residents, as well as
university students, staff, and faculty. The produce would be distributed to the
2
residents of the neighborhood through a Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA).
Each subscriber to the program would receive a certain amount of fresh vegetables each week, which
they would pay for in a monthly fee. Any profits made from the CSA program would be used to
support the garden s operations.
The garden would serve as a model of urban agriculture, an educational tool, and also help university
reach out to the surrounding community. Food production skills are emphasized in many cities across
the world, where urban agriculture is the normal and most practical route for food production.

Economies of Scale
The largest single driving force behind mergers and acquisitions is probably economies of scale.
Economies of scale means that if you have a large company, you can leverage your suppliers. This is a
very powerful capability, and exercising it can be a strategic move for a company s operations. You
can save a tremendous amount of money on services such as health insurance we all know that health
insurance is extraordinarily expensive and getting more so every day. I know about the strategic
benefits of economies of scale from my personal experience of working as a consultant in a small
merger and acquisition in 2006 in which two failing private schools joined together to become one
successful entity. One of the major contributing factors for the success of this merger was that the
combined organization had more people who were buying health insurance; as a result, the health
insurance company substantially dropped their premiums because the risk was being spread across
more people. Large companies can also buy basic supplies such as paper, pencils, and paperclips less
expensively from suppliers when they buy in larger quantities. They simply get a

Essay On Universal Design For Learning
The Universal Design for Learning (www.udlcenter.org) consists of a group of principles that require
all children to receive the same form of education and learning. There are three main principles which
aid in protecting students with disabilities. These three principles make sure that the students with
disabilities receive the same education as any other student as well. The following will explain my
opinion on the learning of all children and how the UDL principles apply to this. By providing
multiple ways of representation this allows students to view things through a different lens. This can
also allow for other students to find a way of learning that better suits them. For those with sensory
disabilities (blindness or deafness for example) visual and auditory learning can be more efficient, but
it s possible that other students can find these means of learning more interesting and useful as well.

No matter what, a routine is important within the classroom, but outside of the basic routine, it s
important to shake things up to provide different activities to keep the students attention. Some
students work better within groups, and others on their own, so it is very important to make sure a
teacher has a balance of that. This will also help strengthen the students skills by working on both of
these. An example of engagement could be based on a kindergarten classroom. As they re developing
and reaching certain developmental milestones, listening and sitting still is difficult for them.
Kindergarteners weren t made to sit in a chair all day and be silent, movement and talking are a huge
part of the various developmental milestones they surpass. Having activities that get the kids up and
moving can be very beneficial to not only them but the teacher as well because it keeps the students

A Business Plan For A Team
Introduction Every new business commences with a concept or thought or an idea. For instance, an
entrepreneur may be knowledgeable and passionate about something, or maybe there is an urge to fill
a gap in the marketplace and therefore turn the thought into a business. In order to make this business
idea work perfectly, it is necessary to carry out market research, write a business plan including
realistic projections, target the right market and prospects and develop an effective team to support. A
team is a group of individual coming together so as to achieve a common goal. However there are
different types of a team member that are essential in creating a new entrepreneurial venture, such as
the shapers, chairperson, monitor evaluator, company worker, team worker, et al. All these
personalities and diversities are needed in an organization to be successful. The product I use regularly

investment activities 29%, securities and commodity contracts intermediation and brokerage 23%,
credit intermediation and related activities 16%, management of companies and enterprises 3%, and
professional, scientific, and technical services 3%. One in five personal financial advisors was self

starving them to death. About 300,000 civilians had died of hunger. In response, the united States send

Winston Salem Code Of Ordinances Essay
Freedom of speech, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, Congress shall make no
law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech, or the press; or the right of the people peacefully to assemble, and to petition the
Government for a redress of grievances. The First Amendment is a primary tenant among the liberties
our forefathers intended to be bequeathed to future generations of Americans. They sought a world
better than the one that they were born or immigrated into under British rule. The founding fathers did
not intend to restrict the natural rights they felt were restricted and stripped away by the British crown.
The American Revolution was ignited because of taxes and the attempt of the British to confiscate
arms, but at the heart of the struggle was the desire of those Patriots to have liberty, and they
encapsulated one of these natural rights in the First Amendment. The founders established for all
Americans a nation of laws. The States on behalf of the people negotiated and agreed upon a
constitution in 1789. During the ratification process, debates in several of the statehouses argued that
rights they felt were inalienable were not defined or protected. The first Congress saw to it that certain

there has been a connection among literary works from different periods. The connection is that
History, current events, and social events have influenced American Literature. Authors, their literary

Regionalism and local color writings are each specific types of Realism. They worked to record a
distinctive way of life. Regionalism often showed regional dialect, food, clothing styles and customs

naturalism also works to find the scientific theory. Each of these writing styles have characteristics
that make them stand out from one another but they all seem to also have a common link of showing
life realistically of that time period. It is easy to see that current events and issues of the world around

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Landlords
For many people a property is more than a place to live. It is the start of a whole new lifestyle and

somebody else?
For most landlords a place to retire to is likely to be located on or near to the coast or in one of the

I set out to find out how practical it might be for landlords to consider buying and renting out a

as Norfolk, are more popular, however, and average around 23 to 24 weeks occupancy, he says.
In areas with year round appeal, like the Cotswolds, or big tourist cities such as Edinburgh, Bath or

The author of this book gave the reader a good visualization of Margo and Q hopping the fence in the

hugging tight against these huge opaque tanks that might have stored animals, and then we came out
to an asphalt path and I could see the big amphitheater where shamu splashed me when I was a kid

an event, it gives them a better understanding of the story line. With the sentences that the author has

All Quiet On The Western Front Lauren Oliver Analysis
Lauren Oliver, an American Author, once said I guess that s just part of loving people; You have to

many ways. These men are going to the front lines for 2 weeks straight of hell knowing that they

they have a risk of losing an arm, a leg and mostly, their lives. One thing they also risk for the ones

A propeller that was commonly used on the boats was the simplest two appendaged dorsal placed in

short diameter and a larger width compared to the first propeller. Also, the appendages were curved in
order for the water to be caught and thrust through the propeller. Efficiency is the ratio of work out

force of the propeller. Every student had the same work in, but different work outs due to the different

Social Contract As A Dominant Political Theory Essay
Social Contract As A Timeless Dominant Political Theory
Introduction
The concept of social contract was introduced by early thinkers like Socrates and Plato. The social
contract is a political theory that involves a tacit agreement between members of society group that
allows them to collaborate and promote mutual benefits, as well explains the legitimacy and authority
of government. This concept is further explained and defended by 17th and 18th centuries
philosophers like Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau, who helped to shape these theories and lay down the
foundation for today s democracy and the role of the government in society. Social contract theories
had a profound impact on modern Western society, specifically, America and France. Subsequently, it
had a dramatic ideological influence on the development of democracies around the world.
However, not everyone agreed with the idea of social contract and there are other political theories
which downplay its importance in the role of the government in the community s life. Theorists, such
as Humes, Mandeville, and Smith declare there is no such contract/agreement in existence, but rather
maximizing peoples utility, market forces, and individual selfishness are the driving forces of a given
society.
Nevertheless, we need to recognize the importance of social contract because it provides a conceptual
basis for the development of a democratic and just society. In addition, social contract, through its

Interpretation By Summarizing. To Summarize Is To State
Interpretation by Summarizing
To summarize is to state the most important points. We might try to summarize the Bible. We might
try to summarize some scientific observations. We might try to summarize our experiences. We might
try to summarize this book.
Many of our statements are summaries. It would be nice if we could interpret our observations and
experiences by pure objective summarizing. It s very difficult though. Our worldviews get in the way.
Anytime we summarize, we leave out information that we consider minor. We only include
information that we consider the most important information. That makes it very easy to distort reality
into something that looks real but isn t real. There are several problems with summaries. These ...

During analysis, we tend to unconsciously add elements of the worldview and create an illusion. What
we ve built in our worldviews seems real. When we add unreal elements from our worldviews, we
think those unreal elements are real. Worldviews give that illusion. During analysis, we often
unconsciously filter some elements out if those elements aren t part of our worldviews. In addition, we
don t have a way of knowing that we have identified all the elements unless God reveals such a thing
to us. The worldview is a deceitful filter. For this reason, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us in the
process. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to correct us when we get it wrong.
Interpretation can t add information. It s not a source of new knowledge. It can give us a better
understanding of the information that exists. Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the human mind
is deceitful and will automatically distort the interpretation.
Explanations as a Way of Knowing
During the Q A session, Bill made the following statement:
We challenge you; tell us why the universe is accelerating. Tell us why these mothers were getting

Explanations aren t found. Explanations are made up. The word explanation exposes wrong thinking
about how we can know. Bodie Hodge gives this example:

Socrates As A Wise Man
Nowadays the word wisdom is an influential quality to possess as society accepts and review ideas. As
a wise person you are praised to have a grand amount of knowledge or understanding, but if we
rewind time, the same acceptance for a famous philosopher that we consider today, was not in high
paised. A man of the name Socrates was defined as a wise character by the oracle of Delphi. At time of
now we deem Socrates as a man who challenge the concept of philosophy. As Socrates encounters the
true meaning of wisdom he came upon his death penalty for spreading his interpretations.A man that
ought to be admire for the way he glance the world, was rejected by society for reasons that was
irrelevant to his purpose.
Socrates would spend his quality time in the village questioning anyone about practically anything to
gain knowledge for both parties. As he knew that the Oracle of Delphi defined him as a wise person he
did not consider himself wise, so he went on a quest to find wisdom. He practice a socratic method
while discussing with Athenians. The method describes a formal conversation between person A and
person B, as person A discuss the meaning of a concept, person B continues to ask questions to prove
that person A s interpretation is not valid. The method is a realization for person A to notice the failure
of the answer he provided. An example from The Consolations of Philosophy (24) would be the

Why The Iranian Revolution Occur During A Time Of National...
Identification and Evaluation of Sources:
This investigation will answer the question, what caused the Iranian revolution to occur during a time
of national progress and prosperity? This question is important because the Iranian revolution baffled
the rest of the world, as nobody expected a newly progressive and economically stable nation as Iran
to have its government overthrown. The scope of this investigation is the events throughout the 20th
century that put the family of monarch Mohammad Reza Pahlavi into power and the family s fall from
power, but more focused on the latter. It s important to see how the Pahlavi family rose to power to
understand the condition of the monarchy and what changed between the reigns of the different ...

It is however limited in that it is translated from Turkish and has a number of phrases that require
personal interpretation and therefore need to be assessed by other sources. The piece goes over the
conflict between the current Shah, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, and the leader of the revolution
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. It also discusses how Ayatollah Khomeini s followers actually opposed
each other, but opposed the Shah more. It also explains how the Shah s progressive attitude offended
some for being too progressive, and some for not being progressive enough. This resulted in another
conflict upon the abdication of the Shah, as to what the republic of Iran should be. In the end, Ayatolla
Khomeini was declared Supreme Leader for life.

Investigation:
It s important to understand the background of how the Pahlavi family came into power. In the early
19th century, Iran was undergoing its Constitutional Revolution. The Shah at the time, Muzaffar al
Din Shah, was near death, and decided to allow the revolution. A constitution was written, and a new
Shah, Mohammad Ali Shah, succeeded Muzaffar al Din Shah (Balaghi). The new constitution
organized a parliament which was quickly corrupted by Mohammad Ali Shah, in turn leading to
another revolution in favor of his eleven year old son, Ahmad Shah Qajar, who was ineffective as a
ruler and left a hole of power. This is when Reza Shah

The Is An Internet Moral Panic Essay
As technology surrounding the internet has grown there has a been a new movement to connect the
world. Specifically, teens have become more inclined to socialize and connect with friends, family,
and strangers through the internet. Teenagers are known for being vulnerable, naïve, having a vast
desire to find acceptance with their peers or society and are obsessed with love. With the connection
of the internet, social media, and teen it has created completely new moral panic; catfishing.
According to, to Merriam Webster catfishing is defined as an individual who creates a fake profile on
a social networking site to deceive or manipulate others ( Catfish ). Primarily, those who catfish use
their fake profiles to gain romantic relationships with other social network users. Teens began creating
fake profiles through their instinct of wanting to fit in but, this led to teens catfishing to fulfill their
dreams of finding acceptance. Catfishing is an internet moral panic because it is considered a social
terror. The act of catfishing became a way for some teens to find acceptance but, parents feel that teens
are not safe on social networking sites such as; Facebook because these deceptions can cause teens
emotional and mental harm. Those constructing the moral panic continually scapegoated social
network sites for the creation of catfishing and its side effects but, the true root cause of catfishing is
teen s inherent behavior. Catfishing was created by teens and the major

Essay on Being Unprepared for Adult Learning
Many students, including myself are entering college for the first time in our lives. They experience
things alien to them and have to deal with an exorbitant amount of anxiety and stress. A major stressor
that stands out is learning the academic way of thinking. Reading rhetorically and writing in a formal
and academic manner are terms that, until now, were entirely foreign to me. At the high school level,
many students are not exposed to these processes. Plain and simple, they just don t experience this
type of thinking and learning. This in turn causes an almost fight and flight response on the student s
part. Many students that struggle through these concepts give themselves the opportunity to stand or
fall on their own accord, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is reminiscent of Professor of Social Research Methodology at UCLA, and one time troubled
student Mike Rose. He writes, I was unprepared. English prose written before the twentieth century
was difficult, sometimes impossible, for me to comprehend. The kind of reasoning I found in logic
was very foreign . (Rose 99) Students can sometimes feel pressured to excel in their academics but
they lack in critical areas that are required to succeed. So they revert to an age old tendency to do the
work, but do not really retain the information. Students stepping into their first English course may
feel overwhelmed by these foreign concepts and commit an absolute academic sin, packing as much
information into their brains as possible for the sole purpose of repeating it back on tests and so forth,
eventually forgetting the information as time passes. Rose exemplifies this behavior in his early
college days. Rose states, I went to school and sat in class and memorized more than understood and
whistled past the academic graveyard . (Rose 97) He closed off any attempt to actually understand
what he was supposed to be reading. Rose could not get past his prejudices towards the literature and
really read into what he was supposed to be learning. This closely models what John Tagg, Professor
or Art History and Comparative Literature at Binghamton University, declares when he writes of the
need to learn in a qualitative way as opposed to a

Grassroot Activism
Greenroot Activism
Public policy and civil rights movements are one of the most talked about subjects to date, many
different actions were taken to bring better rights for those who didn t have any. With the emergence
of activist organizations, they gave black minorities motivations to defend their own civil rights. Many
activist organizations such as: NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People)
and the SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) who fought to end segregation and
social inequalities. Many minorities who didn t have the power, who were afraid or felt like they
couldn t do anything, were given hope to try and push for change in public policy and civil rights.
Grassroot Activism contributed in the success of civil rights movements and change of public policy
because of the collaboration of all the organizations and excellent leadership by doing nonviolent
marches, through legal actions.
The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee was an organization which did nonviolent protest
and become one of the most common groups for grassroot activism in the 1960 s, with different
marches coordinated by the SNCC themselves to fight segregation. They led many marches against
segregation and for civil rights, with one of their most known efforts were the Mississippi Freedom
Summer Project and the Selma March. At that time Mississippi was over 40% African American and

Introduction In Canada, Entrepreneurship has become a highly practiced career for much of the
workforce. Despite great innovation in the minds of young Canadians, an ongoing issue faced by
Canadians is the practice of actually growing business around great ideas to become something greater
than mom and pop shops or single location businesses. With a lot of room for improvement, Canada
has the opportunity to grow to one of the world s leaders in entrepreneurial businesses, but must first
develop an infrastructure that is more supportive of up and coming young entrepreneurs. The future of
Canada s economy lies in the hands of entrepreneurs and therefore, steps should be taken to better
foster development and growth in this industry.

not go unnoticed. In Canada, significantly more businesses are born every year than those that die
with nearly a 3% gap. On top of this, Canadian entrepreneurial businesses have survival rates at 1 year
and 5 years significantly higher than other countries of similar economic status. Establishment is not
the issue with Canada however. Growth is. Canadian SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) have a
significantly lower proportions of high growth and gazelle businesses especially within the service
sector. Although undetermined why this is the case, establishing an infrastructure that is more
supportive and focused towards long term growth and profits rather than short term establishment
should be a priority. As a result of the low growth, many of Canada s entrepreneurial businesses
remain domestic and therefore do not contribute to Canadian exports and in turn as significantly

Selfishness And Pride In Twentieth Century Literature
British literature in the twentieth century had many dark and twisted themes and stories written by
many different kinds of people. Selfishness and pride are natural human emotions and and are shown
in literature time and time again. In Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad The Company and Kurtz are
the embodiment of selfishness and pride in this story. The Destructors by Graham Greene shows this
theme when T. takes over the small, young gang that formed, which is simply the local young boys
playing, and he destroys the house that they play near for his own pleasure. Another important piece of
twentieth century literature is a poem The Soldier by Rupert Brooke shows the selfishness and pride
through how this soldier believes that the place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

literature pieces that I picked to show selfishness had an underlying tone of pride, whether that be
pride in oneself or pride in your country or just the small Wormsley Common Gang. In these stories it
s the pride that the soldier in The Soldier has for his country and the pride T. has for controlling the
group of children and the pride Kurtz has for himself for controlling all the locals that makes humans,
in these cases selfish and wanting more for that certain thing that anyone is prideful for. Human beings

Descriptive Essay About Rapel
There once was a deep forest with the largest tower any unisexed individual ever laid eyes upon. In
this tower, there was an incredibly handsome individual named Raphael. Raphael had delicate blue
eyes, toned muscles, a nicely shaped fade, oh and a one hundred foot beard. His testosterone levels
were surly through the roof.
You might be wondering, Why does Raphael have a one hundred foot beard, and if he is so devilishly
handsome, why does he live by himself in a tower? Well, Raphael was kidnapped as a child by a
warlock who always wanted a son. However, as Raphael grew older he became a real hunk, and this
warlock, named Ricardio, grew envious of his looks. As punishment for being so handsome, the
warlock put a spell on Raphael that made it impossible for him to shave and locked him in a tower so
no one could ever see his beautifully carved jawline and luscious face.
Raphael would always try to trim his wiry dark beard, but even the sharpest of scissors shattered into
dust when he attempted. As he grew older, all alone in the tower, he learned to play the harp and wrote
many songs. He often slept a great amount, and wrote stories on the walls of his small fully furnished
room. He also fixed his hair a lot and could probably be a professional barber if he ever got out of that
damned place. Raphael also enjoys looking at nature and wondering what it would feel like to be a
part of it. He was trapped in the tower for so long, he forgot how soft grass was, and how hard

Legend. Coco Chanel once declared, Legend is the consecration of celebrity, and no other fashion

Chanel both embodied, and in many ways dictated, the revolution in women s fashion that occurred in
the 1920s.
Connections. Chanel s influence was in part the result of the personal and social contacts she made in
postwar Europe. In 1917 she became a protégée of the wealthy, beautiful Misia Edwards later Misia
Sert who introduced her to the circle of avant garde writers and artists with whom Edwards associated.
During the 1920s Chanel herself hosted parties for these intellectuals as well as for the wealthiest and
best known members of European and American society. In 1924 she designed the costumes for
Diaghilev s ballet Train Bleu, for which Cocteau had written the story and Picasso had designed sets.
During the 1920s and early 1930s Chanel also formed intense but generally brief liaisons with

(a) How would you redesign the Class Room (Rm3 125) to materially improve the Service?
The overall learning goal for us students is to grasp what the instructor teaches in class and gain extra
knowledge and abilities through class discussion and interaction. To that end, it s best to study in an
optimal learning environment, so as to keep focused in class and avoid distraction from externals.

Larger Projector Screen and High tech Handwriting: It would be best to widen the projector screen in
this rectangular room. As I mentioned above, for those seat in the sides and rear, it s hard to recognize
some important contents in the slides projected on the screen (e.g. numbers, charts). Enlarging the
projector screen would surely enhance the visibility of projector and hence improve our learning
experience.
Meanwhile, I noticed that sometimes the handwriting of the professor is hard to read. And those sitting
aside couldn t see the notes in the blackboard clearly. So I recommend that the professor use high tech
product such as the pad or IBM s tablet based pen, by which the professor could write on the screen of
the laptop and it could then be projected in the blackboard screen. With enlarged screen, the visibility
of handwriting could also be enhanced.
Bright Lighting and Audiovisual Scenario : We need to add more electrical lights in our classroom and
rearrange the light distribution. However, the lights couldn t be too bright to harm the eyes and result
in reflecting. More importantly, we need to consider the illuminance levels according to daylight,
glaring and uniformity.
Another thing we need to take into account is the lighting

disability movement fought for the rights of the people with disability. According to Mayerson (1992,

visible to the American public and politicians. Without the contribution of the disabilities rights
movement there would not have been an ADA. Like the civil rights movement before the people with
disabilities sat in federal buildings, marched through the streets to protest the injustice. Also, they

Different Types Of Stresses From The Internal And External...
Throughout the lifetime of a living organism, it is exposed to many different types of stresses from the
internal and external environment. In order to maintain homeostasis, cells must be poised to activate
appropriate cellular stress responses to overcome the initial stress stimulus. Mitogen activated protein
kinase (MAPK) pathways are crucial among the major pathways that regulate stress responses. There
are six conserved and ubiquitous MAPK signalling pathways in mammalian systems that coordinate
and integrate responses to various stimuli. The architecture of each pathway is conserved, with the
core signalling module consisting of a phosphorylation cascade which is mediated by three classes of
protein kinases: the MAPK kinase kinase (MAP3K), the MAPK kinase (MAP2K) and the MAPK.
Within this pathway, the MAP3K is activated or inactivated by various stimuli resulting in the
successive phosphorylation and activation of MAP2K, which in turn phosphorylates and activates
MAPK. Activated MAPK s then regulate the appropriate cellular responses by activating or
inactivating cellular targets, such as other protein kinases or transcription factors. Due to the position
of MAP3K s at the apex of the core signalling module , it is important to understand their regulatory
mechanisms as the MAPK pathway is dependent on their activation. Apoptosis signal regulating
kinase 1 (ASK1) is a MAP3K family member. This MAP3K is activated in response to a host of
cellular stress stimuli,

The Role Of Ethics And Morals Throughout The Life Of A...
The paper is a description of what role ethics and morals play in the life of a Defense Attorney. While
having to support his client a defense Attorney more often than not would have to prove the
prosecution s witness to be fake. The paper deals with the techniques that are followed by an Attorney
to protect his client and it gives us an idea of the numerous strategies that he would have to adopt to
prove his client in the right. Further, the paper is also a discussion upon facts as to whether an
Attorney can purposely cross question a witness, and mislead the court just to prove his client not
guilty. Here the main purpose of the argument starts with the fact whether a defense attorney is
ethically right when he decides to purposely cross examine the prosecutor s witness just to mislead the
court, when he knows that the witness is saying the truth, and does so only to discredit his answers.
From time immemorial lawyers have been condemned and thought of as conniving people. As early as
the biblical times writers have been condemning lawyers. The great satirist, Jonathan Swift had in his
book Gulliver s Travels in 1726 stated that there was a society of men among us, bred up from their
youth in the art of proving by words multiplied for the purpose that white is black and black is white,
according as they are paid. To this society all rest of the people is slaves. It can be stated that the real
reason to conduct Cross Examination is to find answers to questions of fact.

The way how the scenes of the movie looks in the eyes of the director, he wanted his viewers to see
how life was back in the 1960s. Kathryn Stockett vision of the story is to show racism at its finest.
Tate Taylor has to figure out how to make the movie seems like the viewers are looking at the movie
ask if they are reading the book. The soundtrack of the movie is based off different songs that can
relate to the type of music most people will hear from the 1960s. A few artists that is mentioned in the
soundtracks are Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, and Mary J Blige. The performance of the movie was
outstanding. The thought of having Emma Stone being the protagonist is a film, is a great fit for this
type of character in the movie. I believe that Emma Stone have certain way of showing a leadership
role a multiple of films that she starred in. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer did a magnificent job
playing as the role off the two maids. Both of these women have probably experienced some sorts of
racism in the lives, and can relate well to the movie. Stone, Davis, Spencer have read The Help before,
so playing the role of Skeeter and the two maids was easy for them to get into, because of reasons this
story beforehand. There s a video on YouTube where Tate Taylor and Kathryn Stockett had mention
the fact that these women have read the story before, and enjoyed

Marriage By David Popenoe And Barbara Dafoe Whitehead...
Marriage: a fairy tale where every moment leads to happiness and everlasting love. In the article What
s Happening to Marriage? the authors David Popenoe and Barbara Dafoe Whitehead reverse the fairy
tale of marriage. The article conveys a different aspect of marriage that marriage is weakening and
divorce is on the rise. The authors believe men and women of this time have more struggles when
marrying one another than when their parents or grandparents got married. The authors arguments are
well supported, but their use of fallacies outweighs their theories. David Popenoe and Barbara Dafoe
Whitehead claim that in today s society marriage is becoming more of a trust issue than previously
thought. They believe marriages have none of these elements: ...an economic bond of mutual
dependency; a social bond supported by the extended family and larger community; and a spiritual
bond upheld by religious doctrine, observance and faith (520). Marriage is becoming more of a
couples relationship and losing meaning in society s culture; therefore, the rate of divorce is increasing
causing people to be cautious of marriage. Popenoe and Whitehead use numerous statistics about
divorce rate; however, they only examine the women s point of view. According to the authors, this is
not the first time marriage has gone to the dumps and recovered causing the authors to delay on
writing marriage s obituary. The authors of the article value a considerable amount of appeals that are

Misconceptions Of Golf
How many of you have ever tried to play corn hole? Now make the bean bag about a third of that size,
hard, and also make the hole, your target about half of the size it was. Now instead of being 27 feet
from the target, go back about 300 yards and hit it with a stick, now you have golf.
Golf originated in Scotland but there s really no known year because there s always been sticks, holes
in the ground, rocks, and boredom. The PGA was founded October 10th, 1916 and ever since then it s
a common misconception that the word golf is an acronym for Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden.
However, this is far from the truth and the ladies got their own tour in 1950. Another well known
event in golf is the Masters which first took place in 1934. Famous

Essay On What Caused The Stock Market Crash
The stock market crash of 1929 was one of the primary causes of the Great Depression, as reported by
many economists. However, the stock market crash also had underlying causes that could have been
prevented. The crash began on October 24th, 1929 and was considered the most devastating stock
market crash in history, in which over 15 million Americans were unemployed. The causes to blame
for the stock market crash from most to least are as follows: The banks that gave loans, the average
American, wealthy people and businessmen, the Federal Reserve Board, and the government.
If the banks did not lend money to ordinary people, then debt would not even exist and the stock
market would not have crashed. Once the stock market crashed, the banks ... Show more content on

Wall Street was in fact dominated by wealthy businessmen, many of which who made millions by
solely playing the market. Indeed, people began believing that they would be able to do the same; to
press a button and the stock would go up ten points. These stocks were also manipulated by the
wealthy when they pooled their money into a secret agreement to buy a stock, inflate its price, and sell
it to an unsuspecting public. Again, even though wealthy businessmen did everything in their power to
attract the public, it was the individual s fault for making a poor decision. The second least to blame
for the stock market crash is the Federal Reserve Board. The Board themselves distrusted the boom, as
they saw speculation as risky and dangerous. In fact, the Board had the entire power to ask for
government regulation or control of the market, but they refused to do so because the market was
already too dependent on borrowing money. Without the margin, the market would collapse, and
therefore, there was no point of the Board asking for government regulation since the economy was
ultimately controlled by Americans

Feature Matching
Determining the most beneficial augmentative and alternative communication device is a critical
component in AAC because it takes time and dedication to teach a client how to use the device as well
as teach others around them how to understand. Hypothetically if a SLP were to provide wasted effort
the results could have the potential to be devastating because in some circumstances all the client has
is little time. Lucky enough for speech language pathologists there are models for assessment that
provide guided intervention tactics. Assessment models can be described as feature matching, the
participation model, and or the universal design for learning. Typically, feature matching is a quick
and easy way to guide assessment because essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The participation model begins by identifying the participation patterns and communication needs
where the clinician then identifies participation barriers (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). SLP s are
then taught to differentiate between assessing opportunity barriers and assessing access barriers in the
concept that the working clinician evaluates policy, practice, facilitator skill, facilitator knowledge,
attitude, and current communication (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). The client s current
communication assessment includes a full assessment of their possible potential to increase natural
abilities, an assessment of potential environmental adaptations, and an assessment of the potential to
utilize AAC systems or devices (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). Once there has been a thorough
analysis the speech language pathologist should plan and implement interventions that will span
across the present and the future with a follow up to determine how effective the intervention has been
in advancing a client s participation (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p.

What Are The Avengers Laufeyson Persuasive Essay
Loki Laufeyson is probably one of Marvels best villains. Not only does he have magic, but he comes
back every time the Avengers think he s imprisoned. He always manages to get out of even the most hi
tech prisons. Most people remember Loki from the 2012 Marvels: The Avengers Movie. He was the
main bad guy, though it is said he was working for Thanos. It is unknown of whether he was being
mind controlled or was doing it of his own free will. Though from what I have read, I believe he was
doing it to prove to Odin that he should be king of Asgard instead of Thor.
Loki was originally the son of Laufey, Frost giant and King of Jotunheim, but when Odin went to war
against the frost giants, he killed Laufey. Odin found Loki in the stronghold and took him to be raised
by him and his wife Frigga. He grew up within his brother, Thor s, ... Show more content on

Thor got his Hammer back and returned to Asgard and fought Loki. Loki was with his mother Frigga
in his fathers chambers when Thor got their. Loki had killed a Frost giant because he wanted his
mother to believe that he didn t let the Frost giant s into Asgard. Thor made Loki admit to what he had
done in front of Frigga, and Loki said he only did it because he was the rightful heir to the throne not
Thor. Thor was fighting Loki on the bridge when the bridge broke, Loki was falling but Thor grabbed
his brothers hand before he fell, Odin was there holding Thor from falling. Loki asked Odin if he had
proved that he could be king instead of Thor, when Odin said that Loki had not proved himself that he
had just gotten himself in a lot of trouble Loki let go of Thor s hand and fell to his death. We later find
out that Loki had faked his death and came back to the palace in disguise as a guard. He told Odin and
Frigga that they had found Loki s body, even when everyone mourned for his death, he still didn t
show himself, still pretending to be someone he is

The Importance Of Education On Education
What do you think about when you hear the United States of America? What comes to your head? You
might be thinking about the big American dream, which is going to school, studying to become a
doctor or anything you want and making millions. When our parents came to America they were
thinking about what was best for our future in education and finance. That is why they came here. So
would you think that you or your parents would be devastated to come to realize that the US is 14th in
the world when it comes to education? I am not saying that is bad by any means. However, if you are
the richest country in the world, that also means you have the most resources so there should be no
reason to be 14, you should be 1st, or at least in the top 5.
One of the most well educated country on the planet is South Korea. South Korea doesn t spend nearly
as much on education as the United States. South Korea spends 11.3 million on education. On the
other hand, the United States spends 1 trillion on education. Therefore having a well educated nation
is not a question of money. According to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
America spends more on education than any other nation. ( WHAT country spends the most on
education , n.d.). Some of the reasons for this is because about 1.2 million students drop out each year
which is 7000 kids per day. To add on 25 percent of freshmen fail to graduate high school. On the
contrary South Korea doesn t give you an option of dropping

  • 2. Images Of Women In Early Buddhism And Christian Gnosticism... How do you define women? The perspectives from the past are way different from what we think nowadays. Although there may have some religious and cultures degrade women, the social status of women is becoming higher and higher. Back to the past, the social status of women was very low. They could not even go to school or work outside. According to Images of Women in Early Buddhism and Christian Gnosticism , Karen Christina Lang uses many Buddhist and Gnostic scriptures to examine how people see women in the past. Moreover, Elaine Pagels The Gnostic Gospel uses gospels to express the relationship between Jesus, the Mother and Father of Jesus and also the definition of God. Lang examines that if a women wants to involve in the community, she would have to change her mind to man. Lang also mentions that Buddhist thinks that the highest goddess is neither a male nor female (Lang 95 103). What she wants to argue is that women should not be tied with sexuality and impurity. Somehow, woman is equal to man because to become a highest goddess, there should not have a gender problem. On the other hand, Pagels focuses more on the gender of God. Pagels rises the question of is God masculine, and in the article, she uses different gospels to conclude that the God in Christians eyes is gathering the finest things of man and woman; which in the article, she mentions the bisexual power . She also uses Jesus birth as an example of divine power. As it is well known that Jesus mother, Mary is virgin birth, in this way, people believe that this is a combined power of the Father of All and the Holy Spirit . Pagels writes about the equal treatment for women in some Gnostic beliefs. She uses the birth of Jesus and the words of Jesus to bring up the equality social status of women in the early centuries. For example, on earth, Jesus has a father, Joseph, and a mother, Mary, which explains that man and woman are equally important to the world. Even in divine heaven, Jesus also has the Father of Truth as father and Holy Spirit as mother too (Pagels 48 69). Pagels uses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I know about the strategic benefits of economies of scale from my personal experience of working as a consultant in a small merger and acquisition in 2006 in which two failing private schools joined together to become one successful entity. Social Contract As A Dominant Political Theory Essay Social Contract As A Timeless Dominant Political Theory Introduction The concept of social contract was introduced by early thinkers like Socrates and Plato. They experience things alien to them and have to deal with an exorbitant amount of anxiety and stress. A major stressor that stands out is learning the academic way of thinking. Reading rhetorically and writing in a formal and academic manner are terms that, until now, were entirely foreign to me. At the high school level, many students are not exposed to these processes. Plain and simple, they just don t experience this type of thinking and learning. This in turn causes an almost fight and flight response on the student s part. This is reminiscent of Professor of Social Research Methodology at UCLA, and one time troubled student Mike Rose. He writes, I was unprepared. English prose written before the twentieth century was difficult, sometimes impossible, for me to comprehend. The kind of reasoning I found in logic was very foreign . (Rose 99) Students can sometimes feel pressured to excel in their academics but they lack in critical areas that are required to succeed. So they revert to an age old tendency to do the work, but do not really retain the information. Students stepping into their first English course may feel overwhelmed by these foreign concepts and commit an absolute academic sin, packing as much information into their brains as possible for the sole purpose of repeating it back on tests and so forth, eventually forgetting the information as time passes. Rose exemplifies this behavior in his early college days. Rose states, I went to school and sat in class and memorized more than understood and whistled past the academic graveyard . • 32. Descriptive Essay About Rapel There once was a deep forest with the largest tower any unisexed individual ever laid eyes upon. In this tower, there was an incredibly handsome individual named Raphael. Raphael had delicate blue eyes, toned muscles, a nicely shaped fade, oh and a one hundred foot beard. His testosterone levels were surly through the roof. You might be wondering, Why does Raphael have a one hundred foot beard, and if he is so devilishly handsome, why does he live by himself in a tower? Well, Raphael was kidnapped as a child by a warlock who always wanted a son. However, as Raphael grew older he became a real hunk, and this warlock, named Ricardio, grew envious of his looks. As punishment for being so handsome, the warlock put a spell on Raphael that made it impossible for him to shave and locked him in a tower so no one could ever see his beautifully carved jawline and luscious face. Raphael would always try to trim his wiry dark beard, but even the sharpest of scissors shattered into dust when he attempted. As he grew older, all alone in the tower, he learned to play the harp and wrote many songs. He often slept a great amount, and wrote stories on the walls of his small fully furnished room. He also fixed his hair a lot and could probably be a professional barber if he ever got out of that damned place. Raphael also enjoys looking at nature and wondering what it would feel like to be a part of it. He was trapped in the tower for so long, he forgot how soft grass was, and how hard ... • 36. Different Types Of Stresses From The Internal And External... Throughout the lifetime of a living organism, it is exposed to many different types of stresses from the internal and external environment. In order to maintain homeostasis, cells must be poised to activate appropriate cellular stress responses to overcome the initial stress stimulus. Mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways are crucial among the major pathways that regulate stress responses. There are six conserved and ubiquitous MAPK signalling pathways in mammalian systems that coordinate and integrate responses to various stimuli. The architecture of each pathway is conserved, with the core signalling module consisting of a phosphorylation cascade which is mediated by three classes of protein kinases: the MAPK kinase kinase (MAP3K), the MAPK kinase (MAP2K) and the MAPK. Within this pathway, the MAP3K is activated or inactivated by various stimuli resulting in the successive phosphorylation and activation of MAP2K, which in turn phosphorylates and activates MAPK. Activated MAPK s then regulate the appropriate cellular responses by activating or inactivating cellular targets, such as other protein kinases or transcription factors. Due to the position of MAP3K s at the apex of the core signalling module , it is important to understand their regulatory mechanisms as the MAPK pathway is dependent on their activation. Apoptosis signal regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) is a MAP3K family member. This MAP3K is activated in response to a host of cellular stress stimuli, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While having to support his client a defense Attorney more often than not would have to prove the prosecution s witness to be fake. The paper deals with the techniques that are followed by an Attorney to protect his client and it gives us an idea of the numerous strategies that he would have to adopt to prove his client in the right. Further, the paper is also a discussion upon facts as to whether an Attorney can purposely cross question a witness, and mislead the court just to prove his client not guilty. Here the main purpose of the argument starts with the fact whether a defense attorney is ethically right when he decides to purposely cross examine the prosecutor s witness just to mislead the court, when he knows that the witness is saying the truth, and does so only to discredit his answers. From time immemorial lawyers have been condemned and thought of as conniving people. As early as the biblical times writers have been condemning lawyers. • 45. Marriage By David Popenoe And Barbara Dafoe Whitehead... Marriage: a fairy tale where every moment leads to happiness and everlasting love. In the article What s Happening to Marriage? the authors David Popenoe and Barbara Dafoe Whitehead reverse the fairy tale of marriage. The article conveys a different aspect of marriage that marriage is weakening and divorce is on the rise. The authors believe men and women of this time have more struggles when marrying one another than when their parents or grandparents got married. The authors arguments are well supported, but their use of fallacies outweighs their theories. David Popenoe and Barbara Dafoe Whitehead claim that in today s society marriage is becoming more of a trust issue than previously thought. They believe marriages have none of these elements: ...an economic bond of mutual dependency; a social bond supported by the extended family and larger community; and a spiritual bond upheld by religious doctrine, observance and faith (520). Marriage is becoming more of a couples relationship and losing meaning in society s culture; therefore, the rate of divorce is increasing causing people to be cautious of marriage. Popenoe and Whitehead use numerous statistics about divorce rate; however, they only examine the women s point of view. According to the authors, this is not the first time marriage has gone to the dumps and recovered causing the authors to delay on writing marriage s obituary. The authors of the article value a considerable amount of appeals that are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Misconceptions Of Golf How many of you have ever tried to play corn hole? Now make the bean bag about a third of that size, hard, and also make the hole, your target about half of the size it was. Now instead of being 27 feet from the target, go back about 300 yards and hit it with a stick, now you have golf. Golf originated in Scotland but there s really no known year because there s always been sticks, holes in the ground, rocks, and boredom. The PGA was founded October 10th, 1916 and ever since then it s a common misconception that the word golf is an acronym for Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden. However, this is far from the truth and the ladies got their own tour in 1950. Another well known event in golf is the Masters which first took place in 1934. Famous ... • 47. Essay On What Caused The Stock Market Crash The stock market crash of 1929 was one of the primary causes of the Great Depression, as reported by many economists. However, the stock market crash also had underlying causes that could have been prevented. The crash began on October 24th, 1929 and was considered the most devastating stock market crash in history, in which over 15 million Americans were unemployed. The causes to blame for the stock market crash from most to least are as follows: The banks that gave loans, the average American, wealthy people and businessmen, the Federal Reserve Board, and the government. If the banks did not lend money to ordinary people, then debt would not even exist and the stock market would not have crashed. Once the stock market crashed, the banks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wall Street was in fact dominated by wealthy businessmen, many of which who made millions by solely playing the market. Indeed, people began believing that they would be able to do the same; to press a button and the stock would go up ten points. These stocks were also manipulated by the wealthy when they pooled their money into a secret agreement to buy a stock, inflate its price, and sell it to an unsuspecting public. Again, even though wealthy businessmen did everything in their power to attract the public, it was the individual s fault for making a poor decision. The second least to blame for the stock market crash is the Federal Reserve Board. The Board themselves distrusted the boom, as they saw speculation as risky and dangerous. In fact, the Board had the entire power to ask for government regulation or control of the market, but they refused to do so because the market was already too dependent on borrowing money. Without the margin, the market would collapse, and therefore, there was no point of the Board asking for government regulation since the economy was ultimately controlled by Americans ... • 48. Feature Matching Determining the most beneficial augmentative and alternative communication device is a critical component in AAC because it takes time and dedication to teach a client how to use the device as well as teach others around them how to understand. Hypothetically if a SLP were to provide wasted effort the results could have the potential to be devastating because in some circumstances all the client has is little time. Lucky enough for speech language pathologists there are models for assessment that provide guided intervention tactics. Assessment models can be described as feature matching, the participation model, and or the universal design for learning. Typically, feature matching is a quick and easy way to guide assessment because essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The participation model begins by identifying the participation patterns and communication needs where the clinician then identifies participation barriers (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). SLP s are then taught to differentiate between assessing opportunity barriers and assessing access barriers in the concept that the working clinician evaluates policy, practice, facilitator skill, facilitator knowledge, attitude, and current communication (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). The client s current communication assessment includes a full assessment of their possible potential to increase natural abilities, an assessment of potential environmental adaptations, and an assessment of the potential to utilize AAC systems or devices (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). Once there has been a thorough analysis the speech language pathologist should plan and implement interventions that will span across the present and the future with a follow up to determine how effective the intervention has been in advancing a client s participation (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. ... • 49. What Are The Avengers Laufeyson Persuasive Essay Loki Laufeyson is probably one of Marvels best villains. Not only does he have magic, but he comes back every time the Avengers think he s imprisoned. He always manages to get out of even the most hi tech prisons. Most people remember Loki from the 2012 Marvels: The Avengers Movie. He was the main bad guy, though it is said he was working for Thanos. It is unknown of whether he was being mind controlled or was doing it of his own free will. Though from what I have read, I believe he was doing it to prove to Odin that he should be king of Asgard instead of Thor. Loki was originally the son of Laufey, Frost giant and King of Jotunheim, but when Odin went to war against the frost giants, he killed Laufey. Odin found Loki in the stronghold and took him to be raised by him and his wife Frigga. He grew up within his brother, Thor s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 50. The Importance Of Education On Education What do you think about when you hear the United States of America? What comes to your head? You might be thinking about the big American dream, which is going to school, studying to become a doctor or anything you want and making millions. When our parents came to America they were thinking about what was best for our future in education and finance. That is why they came here. So would you think that you or your parents would be devastated to come to realize that the US is 14th in the world when it comes to education? I am not saying that is bad by any means. However, if you are the richest country in the world, that also means you have the most resources so there should be no reason to be 14, you should be 1st, or at least in the top 5. One of the most well educated country on the planet is South Korea. South Korea doesn t spend nearly as much on education as the United States. South Korea spends 11.3 million on education. On the other hand, the United States spends 1 trillion on education. Therefore having a well educated nation is not a question of money. According to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development America spends more on education than any other nation. ( WHAT country spends the most on education , n.d.). Some of the reasons for this is because about 1.2 million students drop out each year which is 7000 kids per day. To add on 25 percent of freshmen fail to graduate high school. On the contrary South Korea doesn t give you an option of dropping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
