The survey found that business conditions continued to improve in June, with the index reaching its highest level since September 2007. The percentage of respondents expecting conditions to worsen in the next 60 days fell below 10% for the first time in over a year. While the improvements were gradual, the trends showed businesses seeing increased demand and stabilization in financial markets. If current trends continued, the survey predicted that the recession would be declared over and the recovery would begin in earnest in the second half of 2009.
The survey shows a decline in business sentiment over the past month. While conditions modestly improved in the past 30 days, the outlook for the next 60 days saw a significant drop. As a result, the index measuring business conditions fell sharply to its lowest level since July. The data indicate the perceived momentum of the recovery may be slowing.
The survey of business conditions showed that while most indicators for the past 30 days remained positive, the outlook for the next 60 days took a negative turn. The index of business conditions decreased slightly due to the mostly negative 60-day outlook. However, the employment and capital expenditure indicators, which have lagged in recent months, were particularly positive for the next 60 days, suggesting potential improvement in those areas.
The Tatum Index of Business Conditions decreased in July 2009, indicating a potential stalling of the economic recovery. While some indicators such as capital expenditures held steady, the outlook for future business conditions weakened, with fewer respondents expecting improved conditions over the next 60 days. Unemployment remained high, and rising energy and interest rates may be slowing the recovery. Overall the survey suggests the economy has hit a temporary setback after signs of recovery earlier in the year.

End of life decision making and approaches to issues of futility power point Bernard Freedman
This document summarizes key topics related to end-of-life decision making, including:
1) Ethically sound and legally mandated end-of-life decisions as well as the responsibilities of surrogate decision makers.
2) What constitutes futile care and how to deal with cultural and religious needs in end-of-life care.
3) The importance of documenting end-of-life decisions in the medical record and giving patients and surrogates sufficient information to make informed decisions.
- Physicians are obligated to fully communicate with patients and surrogates about diagnoses, prognoses, treatment options and risks in a timely manner to allow for informed medical decision making. However, studies show physicians often fail to discuss end of life care preferences with patients.
- Determinations of medical futility can be difficult due to uncertainties in prognosis and a lack of understanding of patient values. Physicians are encouraged to have open discussions with patients and surrogates about medical futility and end of life options.
- If a surrogate cannot understand the patient's medical situation or make decisions that reflect the patient's wishes, the physician may need to seek a new surrogate or consider the patient's best interests in

Emerging trends in the market include microlearning, artificial intelligence integration, virtual and augmented reality applications, and collaborative learning platforms. Recent industry news highlights partnerships to expand educational content, global initiatives to promote online education, and efforts to improve accessibility and security in E-Learning.
This document discusses the history and development of e-learning and online professional development (e-PD) for educators. It traces the origins of distance education back to the 18th century and highlights universities like the University of London that began offering distance learning degrees in the 1800s. The development of the internet allowed for the rise of the first fully online university in 1996. The document then discusses research that has found e-PD can improve targeted student outcomes when teachers participate in a coordinated series of online courses. It also outlines strategies for achieving critical mass adoption of e-PD innovations.
eLearning has grown significantly in recent years and is projected to continue growing. Enrollment in online classes increased by over 400,000 students from 2012 to 2013. Most institutions see online learning outcomes as being equal or better to traditional learning. While large online universities still lead the market, startups have entered the eLearning industry with new approaches. MOOCs, enrichment courses, and corporate training are expanding opportunities in non-credit online education. Cloud-based platforms allow schools to partner and offer online degrees. The worldwide eLearning market is projected to reach $51.5 billion by 2016, with North America reaching $27.1 billion.
