This document provides an overview of a three-day workshop on research ethics held in December 2008 at Gezira University in Sudan. The workshop was led by two doctors with experience in research ethics and was intended to familiarize participants with key principles of ethical research and review. Over the course of the workshop, topics such as the history of research ethics, principles of ethical research, risk-benefit analysis, informed consent, and research ethics review committees would be covered through presentations, case studies, group work, and other teaching methods. The goal was for participants to gain competency in applying ethical principles when reviewing research proposals and serving on research ethics committees.
