This SlideShare offers notes on what each of those mean and the dangers to a team when team members have an imbalance of those virtues. Of course, these are just notes – for the real deal, grab the book.

Leaders all intend to do the right thing, so why do so many leaders struggle with leading effectively? Here is what I have learned in two decades of working with leaders and being a leader myself. Expect to leave with things you can do tomorrow to be more effective at the thing your organizations need the most - leadership.

You have attended workshops, you have seen them masterfully commanded by other people, and you really want to get a handle on doing this workshop thing yourself. This workshop is the workshop that will help you create and facilitate a workshop of your very own, in whatever workshop fashion you decide upon.

Brad Nunnally, and Russ Unger, co-authors of the book ”Designing the Conversation” will help you identify the path unlocking the workshop achievement in whatever platform you choose. You will learn how to plan your agenda, structure your workshop, and identify the tools that are needed to help you along the way. Preparation is only a small portion of The Workshop Workshop; you will also gain from the wisdom of the CrankyTalk Workshops to help you feel more comfortable with your material–and yourself–in front of a group of people who are relying upon you to be their guide.

There will be activities where you will experience the true nature of ”trial by fire” or “getting your feet wet” (whichever metaphor you prefer). That is correct: You will be leading your very own workshop within The Workshop Workshop, and presenting your findings and results back to the rest of the workshop attendees.

From Starchitects to Design Gurus, the lone designer-hero has been our model for creating impact. But it’s a complete lie. The complex software, smart devices and connected information environments we create require multidisciplinary teams. So we must spend a lot of time getting teamwork right, right?
Sadly, no.
Instead we rip job descriptions off the web, throw people together without preamble, simmer in passive-aggressive discontent until we eventually fire the person we’ve all been rolling our eyes at. Or worse, we avoid firing him until everyone good quits.
It’s time to give teams the same attention and craft we give our products. Christina will share the lessons from top companies in the Silicon Valley for you to take back to your teams. It doesn’t matter if you are a manager or a peer leader, these approaches will make your team thrive. Awesome products come from awesome teams, so it’s time to stop doing business as usual and design a team for impact.

Learn about, passion for success, striving for self excellence, the value of team dynamics, the virtues of personal integrity, the art of earning your respect, responsibility and changing for the better
Being a learning organization, we are addressing the training and development needs of our employees on regular basis. Majority of trainings are being conducted in house by our own employees.
For all of in house trainers, it is imperative to understand that training is more than just presentations. So to make in house trainers more effective, the need for Train the trainer was felt.
So i have prepared this module keeping above points in mind for our in house trainers.
In the YMCA, many of our CEOs are fully consumed on a daily basis with the demands of running their Y. This presentation will give them the opportunity to take a step back, reflect, and address several key areas of their leadership that are vital for navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The four main topic areas are:
Values: Finding the North Star of your Personal Leadership Philosophy.
Purpose: Harnessing the Wind in the Sails of Purpose.
Culture: Adjusting the Invisible Rudder that is Steering your Ship.
Relationships: Sharpening your EQ Skills to Inspire and Motivate your Crew.
Thinking and working visually for software testers - Nordic Testing DaysHuib Schoots
Nowadays testers need to be creative in their approach of working. Creating test strategies, test plans, test reports and test cases in the “old school” style is taking too much time out of actual testing and is not particularly collaborative. Systems are getting more and more complex. This tutorial shows testers how to reduce the cost of testing, easily communicate their testing story and involve business analysts, programmers, users and others into their work with visualization. In our daily work as testers we use all kinds of automation tools to support our testing efforts. Among them are many visualization tools. But scientific studies show that sketching with a simple combination of pencil and paper might lead to better results.
Text is boring and not very creative. It lets your brain run at half power, only the left part of the brain is put to work. Visualization also put your right side of the brain to work. People remember images easier. In addition, images often impress us more. We often need many pages of text to describe what a single picture can say. The saying that ”a picture is worth a thousand words” is really true! A single image can transfer a complex idea fast and easy. Visualization allows you to quickly absorb large amounts of information.
By showing hands-on practices participants will learn how mind maps, drawings and graphics can be used directly in their daily work. Mind maps can also be used for a myriad of tasks and processes in testing. They can solve problems, can be used as frameworks, create lightweight test design and deliver dashboard style test results and test status.
Leaders lead people. Realising that the greatest asset of any
organisation is its people, a leader will empower them and help
them to realise their own potential within the organisation. As
Jack Welch famously said, ‘Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.’ Put another way, leaders create leaders.
