8. • In parliament 45 reserved seats are for women members
• in primary sector 60% women are recruited as teacher
• In garment sector many women are working and being solvent
• By micro-credit system many women are bringing economic solvency
in their family
• Grameen Bank, Proshika, Asha etc. non-government organizations are
playing role in the development of women from rural area. In this way
these institutions helps in women empowerment in Bangladesh.

10. • Globally, 750 million women and girls were married before the age of
18 and at least 200 million women and girls in 30 countries have
undergone FGM.
• Only 52 per cent of women married or in a union freely make their own
decisions about sexual relations, contraceptive use and health care.
• Globally, women are just 13 per cent of agricultural land holders.
• In Southern Asia, a girl’s risk of marrying in childhood has dropped by
over 40% since 2000.

policy and decision making. Government of Bangladesh should take
strategic steps to develop and help women.
