 When the Wind is used in a useful form as in its helping the turbine to rotate
and generate electricity is called Wind energy.
 The Wind Energy describes the generation of Electricity through wind.
 Wind farms are a group of Wind turbines that generate electricity and power
homes, schools and commercial buildings.
 Worldwide there are around 200,000 wind turbines operating.
 The top Wind power electricity producing country is the United States of
America.
 When Wind turbines move it makes kinetic Energy and the energy transforms
to Mechanical Energy. There is a generator that converts Mechanical energy
into Electrical Energy. Then the Electrical Energy is send through wires to
power homes and commercial buildings.

3. History
 Between 900 and 500 BC Wind Energy helped Persians to pump water and
grind grain.
 The use of Windmills spread from Persia to the Middle East where Wind Mills
were used extensively for various reasons.
 Then the people in Holland improved the Wind Mill. They gave it a propeller-
type blades. Windmills made Holland one of the world’s most industrialized
countries by the 17th century.
 Americans used Wind mills to grind wheat and corn.
 Some rural areas used Wind mills to generate electricity as they didn’t have
electric current. By the time everyone get’s electric current from that time
the Wind mills operating have reduced.

4. Advantages
 Doesn’t produce emissions.
 The wind turbines don’t need a lot of space as much as the power plants.
They have small Wind farms to generate electricity.
 Land around wind turbines can be used for farming.
 Today Wind Energy cleanest source of energy.
 Wind Energy is a renewable source of energy. You can use it unlimited times.
 Wind energy is very cheap as wind is a free source.
 The force of the wind is high on mountains and countryside's. So most of the
Wind farms are located there. That’s why more of electricity is generated.
 Wind Energy can be used as an alternate of coal when it runs out as it is not
non-renewable.

5. Disadvantages
 Wind turbines can be harmful for wildlife like birds.
 Wind energy creates less power of electricity then the fossil fuels.
 Wind turbines are a little noisy.

7. Efficient
 Wind Energy is very much efficient because the variable cost is zero and the
output is for life time.

8. Environmental Impact
 Wind Energy is very environment friendly as they don’t produce emissions.
 It may only affect birds.
 It has no harm to the environment.
