Wind energy is a renewable source of electricity that is plentiful, clean, and efficient. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy of wind into electrical energy through the use of propeller-like blades that spin a shaft which is connected to a generator. One of the oldest uses of wind energy dates back to 5000 BC when wind-propelled boats were used on the Nile River. Today, wind energy provides electricity to over 100 countries and is growing to be one of the most efficient energy sources available. While wind energy has advantages such as being clean and renewable, it also has disadvantages like only being suitable for particular regions and being unpredictable since it relies on wind patterns.
