Queen Elizabeth I ruled England for over 50 years and was considered one of the greatest monarchs in English history. She dazzled even her enemies with her sense of duty and love for her subjects. The Globe Theatre performs one traditional Shakespearean play each season using male actors for female roles. The gallery seats on either side of the stage were where the Queen sat and are still the most expensive tickets today. The Globe can seat 1000 people and hold 500 standing in the yard. It is located near the River Thames where Shakespeare's plays are performed.
