This document compares the WiFi and WiMAX standards. WiFi uses 802.11a/b/g and operates over shorter ranges as a WLAN, while WiMAX uses 802.16d and 802.16e to operate over longer ranges as a WMAN. WiMAX supports mobility and QoS, while WiFi does not support QoS. WiMAX has a longer communication range and higher data rates compared to WiFi.
