Summary Of Jackie Robinson Justice At Last
In the article Jackie Robinson : Justice at Last, it tells the reader a lot about a MLB player who broke
the color barrier. Jackie Robinson was a tremendous athlete, intelligent, sensitive, calm, and skillful,
perfect for the job. Jackie Robinson agreed to play on the MLB team The Dodgers. He had to agree to
many things to play, and he did. He agreed to take abuse, avoid fighting, and be brave. Jackie
Robinson was the right man to complete the job. Indeed, Jackie Robinson was brave. He took the
abuse for others such as teammates, fans, opponents. He kept his agreement with Rickey, the coach of
the Dodgers, and kept on going. He avoided fights, ignored the threats of death from the crowd, and
he ignored the opponents complaints. In the text it states, Robinson s first season was difficult. Fans
threatened to kill him; players tried to hurt him. The St. Louis Cardinals said they would strike if he
took the field. He was brave, keeping his cool throughout these events. Also, Jackie had to be very
calm and cool about all of the negative impact put on him. All of the negative comments, abusive acts
towards him, the booing had to be a lot to ignore. He had to have a lot of self restraint to keep his
anger/feelings inside to keep his deal with Rickey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jackie hit .387 in the Negro leagues. In the text it says, Robinson was college educated, and knew
what joining the majors would do for the blacks. It also says, The grandson of a slave, he was proud of
his race and wanted others to feel the same. These pieces of text show how Jackie Robinson was
skillful and the perfect person for the job. Jackie knew what joining the major leagues would do for
blacks, and he was ready. He was confident, and ready to stand up for his rights. Jackie made history,
he was a role model for others like him. In the text it says, More than half of the team were black

Pros And Cons Of Insanity Defense
The insanity defense, used when a defendant commits a crime but is mentally incapable of
understanding the consequence of his actions, is a controversial plea that has been in existence for
several centuries. The insanity defense uses the idea that the defendant committed the crime, but due
to the lack of mental instability, was unable to understand that their actions are wrong. The insanity
defense dates back to the 19th century. Daniel M Naghten was a woodworker who thought that he was
a target of a conspiracy with the pope and the British Prime Minister, Robert Peel. He went down to
10 Downing Street planning to attack Robert Peel, but instead shot and killed his secretary. During his
trial, the jury found Daniel M Naghten delusional and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using the insanity defense, it can get rid the death penalty all together. Instead of getting put up for
the electric chair, the defendant could plead insanity be admitted to an asylum, whether the person is
found guilty of the crime or not. Just by pleading insane, it promotes an atmosphere of guilt almost
instantly.Instead of trying to argue facts, the person has to prove to the defendant that their actions
were wrong but because of his or her mental state, they are innocent. Societies punish those who do
not have the mental capacity to know right from wrong. The insanity defense can also lessen or mean
no jail time. Instead of being sent to jail for committing a crime, the defendant will be sent to an
asylum. The chances of this plea working in cases is slim to none because the plea has become harder
to get away with. There are all these positive things about the insanity defense, but there are equally as
negative things. The insanity defense can also increase trial costs. If the defendant tries to plead guilty,
then the cost of the trial would go up, due to hiring a specialist to determine the level of existing
conditions. The insanity defense is not implemented in all court systems. Some court system do not
use the insanity defense. The insanity defense can be hard to prove sometimes. (Source

The company also owed its bondholders $1 billion in interest payments on June 1, 2009 money it did
not have available to pay. According to GM s bankruptcy filing, the company has assets of $82.3
billion, and liabilities of $172.8 billion. That would make GM the fourth largest U.S. bankruptcy on
record, according to Bankruptcydata.com, just behind the 2002 bankruptcy of telecom WorldCom.
Three of the largest bankruptcies in history GM, Wall Street investment bank Lehman Brothers and
savings and loan Washington Mutual, have occurred in the last nine months. GM will use the trip into

Emerging out of bankruptcy quickly will be a new GM, made up of the four brands that GM will keep

Chrysler filed for bankruptcy April 30,2009 and the judge in that case approved the creation of a new

Psychiatric And Psychological Records Of Dissociative...
More than two million cases can be found altogether in psychiatric and psychological records of
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID); previously called Multiple Personality Disorder. Dissociative
Identity Disorder exists as a peculiar mental disorder in which a person possesses two or more evident
and distinctive personalities. Through accounts like the movie Sybil, this disorder received much
attention worldwide completely altering our previous ideas about Multiple Identity Disorder.
The movie Sybil is based on a true story of a shy, college student, working as a substitute teacher in
New York City; who after years of memory loss and a cut hand found herself in a hospital being
treated by a doctor recommending psych evaluation. Dr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then came Vanessa, who plays piano, and is considered the prettiest of them all; she and Sybil,
together, fall in love with their neighbor Richard and his son Matthew (the first to notice Sybil s
disease). The most self destructive of the personalities, Marsha, aims to kill Sybil (suicide). In all
Sybil, the host, is thought to have sixteen different selves. Though all the personalities do not come at
the same time.
Sybil suffers from a severe case of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Dissociative Identity Disorder is a
chronic form of dissociation, a mental illness which manufactures a lack of connection between a
person s thoughts, feelings, actions, memories, or sense of self (MPD). DID is associated with two or
more distinct identities, or personality states, that reside in and alternately take control of an
individual. The person s behavior is determined by the personality that is dominant at a given
time. The person also experiences memory loss that is too extensive to be explained by ordinary
forgetfulness. A victim that survives with DID will endure lost time (amnesia) or black out spells,
which may lead to denial of their disease and forgetfulness of events and/or experiences. This can
promote allegations of lying and manipulation which may lead to confusion for the undiagnosed DID
sufferer (MPD). Most patients, when they first enter treatment, most MPD victims are not aware of the
existence of other personalities. Other symptoms for DID include: the

Keowee-Toxaway State Park
Keowee Toxaway State Park is located just outside of the town of Pickens, SC. Nestled into what is
locally referred to as the Cherokee Foothills, Keowee Toxaway State Park is situated on lands that
were once inhabited by the Cherokee Indians. The Cherokee heritage is honored by an interpretive
center and a short trail through the woods. Both the center and the trail provide a lot of information on
the Cherokee history and way of life. The campground at Keowee Toxaway State Park is one of nicest
that you will find anywhere. Tent camping is offered on a small forested hill that provides a nice view
of the forests and other natural beauty of the area. The sloping terrain of the hillside where the tent
loop of campground is located has been leveled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While camping is generally an inexpensive way to spend some time outdoors, the simple meals that
follow will can help campers stay to a very minimal budget. It is important for beginner campers to
realize that there are many simple meals that can be made without purchasing specialized camping
cookware (which can be very expensive!). If you don t have any cookware that can be used over an
open fire, check out your local thrift stores for simple cookware that can be used. A frying pan (cast
iron is preferable) and pot for boiling water is enough cookware for most camping trips. There are also
many foods that can be cooked in aluminum foil alone without the use of any other cookware.
Develop meals around the materials that you have and foods that you like to assure an inexpensive
trip. Here are some cheap and easy to make meal ideas to get you started. Pancakes make a cheap and
easy camping breakfast. A plastic drinking cup with a snap on lid is great for mixing the batter (by
shaking the sealed cup) and pouring onto a pan. Instant rice that is made from boiling water is another
inexpensive meal starter. Either eaten alone or with meat and vegetables, instant rice is filling and very
cheap. Other foods made from boiling or hot water that are inexpensive and can be the basis for cheap
camping meals include Ramen Noodles, oatmeal, and instant potatoes. The campfire baked potato is

The Correlation Between Down Syndrome And Alzheimer s...
The Correlation between Down syndrome and Alzheimer s disease
Anna Lister
Biology Honors, P. 3
Mrs. Creech
25 November 2015
Introduction:
Alzheimer s disease (AD) is a disease that slowly and progressively causes memory impairment. It
will eventually inhibit abilities, such as language, planning, and perception. AD is prevalent in
individuals with Down syndrome (DS), a condition where those affected had acquired three additional
chromosome 21 before birth (emedicinehealth, 2014). Michael Rafii, director of the Memory
Disorders Clinic at UCSD, says that people with Down syndrome represent the world s largest
population of individuals predisposed to getting Alzheimer s disease (Hamilton, 2014). There is no
cure for either, and scientists are still lacking the knowledge of a complete story.
Beta Amyloid, Plaques, and the Destruction of Nerve Cells:
There is a large supply of amyloid plaques in the cells of people with Alzheimer s disease. Amyloid
plaques are clustered pieces of protein that build up between nerve cells. They speed up the production
of beta amyloid, which are polypeptides of about thirty six to forty three amino acids long
(emedicinehealth, 2014; Stanford Medicine, 2013). Amyloid precursor proteins (APP), when split into
specific pieces, are producers of beta amyloid. They are found in tissues and organs, such as the brain.
Amyloid precursor proteins pass through a fatty membrane on the outside of a cell. This allows them
to extend from the

The Aspects Of The Pueblo Revolt Of 1680
The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 Throughout the period of colonization, several aspects of genocide can be
identified. From the Genocide Convention of 1948, genocide was lawfully defined as any of the
following committed with the intent to destroy in whole or part a national ethnical, racial, or religious
group as such: killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the
group, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions to bring about its destruction, imposing measures
intended to prevent births within the group, and/or forcibly transferring children of the group to
another group. In what is modern day North America, European settlers began colonizing the area in
hopes of achieving their goals of expanding Christianity, acquiring wealth for their countries, and/or
gaining personal wealth and power. The European settlers had little care about the indigenous people
of the areas they were colonizing, leading to the American Indian Wars (Lasting from 1622 1924) and
the genocide of Native Americans. During this time period, the Native American population decreased
dramatically as a result of brutal war, disease, and torture. The modern day New Mexico area in
particular was home to Indian Pueblos, who showed an extreme act of resistance against their Spanish
conquerors. What later became known as the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 showed how resistance to
genocide can be achievable and the impacts it may have. Genocide is impossible to overcome

Vanity Fair, A Popular Culture And Fashion Magazine
Famous actor Jennifer Aniston is the epitome of youth and success in today s pop culture. In essence,
she represents what all middle aged women should look like and what young women should want to
look like at the age of 46. She can be found in various advertisements for health and beauty products,
and with a personal Fountain of Youth and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she is usually
portrayed as an inspiration for women (and if she is not thought of this way, she can definitely make a
grown woman roll her eyes and scoff). For the past fifty years, advertisements have laid down the
laws and standards of recognizable beauty. Ads found in Vanity Fair, a popular culture and fashion
magazine which targets young middle aged women, and InStyle, a Hollywood fashion and celebrity
trend magazine with a broad aged audience of high middle class women, will be used to discuss points
in Susan Bordo s Beauty (Re)discovers the Male Body on beauty, youthfulness, and addictions. An ad
running in Vanity Fair is for a Chopard watch, but it also alludes to an entire collection of jewelry
called IMPERIALE. Posing in it, is Hilary Rhoda, who also models in ads for companies such as
Estée Lauder, Gucci, and Dolce Gabbana, which are companies known for their controversial
advertisements. Portrayed as a goddess in this particular ad, Rhoda is in a room alone, sitting in a

Comparing Victor Frankenstein And The Creature In Mary...
Though Victor Frankenstein thinks fundamentally in terms of who belongs to whom , he and the
Creature share a strange bond that goes beyond the bounds of mere possession. Frankenstein clearly
ignores his mutual obligations and promises, especially towards the Creature, creating a relationship
between the two that is composed entirely of power struggles rather than any form of mutuality. In
addition to this, as one who thinks about social organization in terms of sheer power, Frankenstein
extends this master slave relationship to nature itself in short, he treats nature the same as he treats his
unnatural Creation.
Though Frankenstein clearly does not love the Creature, he does seem inseparable from him: there are

without sex. This is yet another way in which he is attempting to exert some form of control Victor is
thinking, again, in terms of possession and sees nature (like the Creature) as something to control and
defeat. He seems always to be searching for the inherent power in things the first time he witnesses
lightning he watches its progress with curiosity and delight because he has never beheld anything so
utterly destroyed [as the ruined tree] . Once he is taught of electricity, the cause of this force, the
knowledge [throws] greatly into the shade Cornelius Agrippa...the lord of [Frankenstein s] imagination
, and shortly after this Victor gives up [his] former occupations; set[s] down natural history...as a
deformed and abortive creation . In other words, he seems to lose interest in science as soon as he is
shown that the way to understand natural phenomena is not through secrets or magic powers; that the
way to understanding cannot be reached through exertion of force or power. It seems that Frankenstein
is deeply afraid of what he cannot control, and not just nature: contemplating the Creature (a being
requiring love and mutuality) he muses a new species would bless me as its creator and source; many
happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his
child so completely as I should deserve theirs he wishes, as it were, to play

Abstract
Virtual reality is influential technology which will have a strong impact on society. This body of
writing states the history of Virtual Reality and its impact on society. Virtual reality is an experience in
which the user is immersed in a responsive virtual world. With the very recent availability of Virtual
Reality headsets and its growing popularity, one must understand the effects of Virtual Reality on our
fast changing society. This would lead to an impact on social ethics as well that we as a society are not
yet prepared for. Table of Contents

Bruno Mars s Music At The American Music Awards
Sunday night November 20, 2016. This is the night the American Music Awards (AMA s) opened in
2016. The American Music Awards is a huge event in the music industry. This event is sometimes
compared to the Grammys. As we all know, the opening and closing acts are the most important
because you have to start the show off right to get everyone in that good and exciting mood, then it is
also important to end the show with that special performance to remember until next year s event
comes. At the 2016 American Music Awards, Bruno Mars stole the show with this amazing opening of
to the show. He performed with his so called comeback song known as 24k Magic. This song is the
first single to his brand new album 24k Magic. Mars always knows how ... Show more content on

The stage performance is also a great factor into putting on a good show. That is no problem for bruno
mars. Bruno mars always has everyone moving when he steps onto the stage. Bruno mars shows any
gig he plays in that no matter how old you are, you will be on your feet dancing to the music. Mars
does this by coming up with great dance choreography and having great background dancers to back
him up. The entrance to the show needs to be perfect in order to get the audience moving with you. He
opened the show with amazing lights and hit the stage with his tight dance moves with his other stage
dancers. Each step was in unison with everyone else and it looked like no one skipped a step. This
perfection went on throughout the entire performance. When a different beat came on, a new dance
move came out. In the middle/ending of the song, the lights dimmed and he appeared on the stage
with four new dancers. The beat dropped and a new one came on for about a minute of the
performance. No singing went on and all there was was dancing. You can tell hours went into just this
little minute of the performance because the way he presented the dance was abstract and you can tell
that everyone was on beat and where they were suppose to be. Not many singers can break it down in
a dance like Bruno Mars did.
Mars connected to the audience members as well as people at home judging by all

Why Is Tupac Controversial
The Controversial Life of Tupac Shakur
Despite his reputation as a criminal and a thug, Tupac Shakur effectively spread his message of the
unfairness in society through his storytelling, music, and public stance to increase awareness of
discrimination against African Americans.
Tupac Amaru Shakur came into the world on June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. While poverty
stricken,Tupac faced many obstacles as a child and an adolescent. All his life, Shakur used issues in
his family as an underlying conflict and expressed these issues while growing up. Tupac was very
interested in acting, so he enrolled in the Baltimore School of the Arts. Those close to him say, Tupac
showed a flair for performing. During Shakur s free time, he survived as ... Show more content on

Shakur also had been sentenced to eighteen months to four and a half years for sexual abuse charges.
After running into trouble with the law and doing time, Tupac stated that his time in jail left a lasting
impression. One associate with Newsweek said, He seemed to understand how sacred life was. With
this so called epiphany occurring in Tupac s life, some might think this could be a turning point.
Others disagreed saying, He said he wanted to get away from the violence and live a calmer life. But
those were only words. The people who disagreed had a strong point. As powerful and moving as
some of the things Tupac said were, they would need to be proved by his actions. The violence dialed
down a bit, but Tupac returned back to his old ways. He got bailed out of prison for $1 million by the
owner of Death Row Records, Marion Suge Knight. Shakur joined Death Row Records and got along
with Knight. Marion Knight even helped Tupac buy his mother a house. This shows Knight wanted
Tupac making music for his company. He even played another role in the movie B ullet. Then, Tupac
released the CD M e Against the World, w hich took his popularity to another level. It sold 500,000
copies upon its release. Dear Mama , a tribute to his mother on the CD, went made its way onto the
Top Ten. Tupac regained his place back on top after being released from prison, but did he ever leave

Why Is Risk Taking Important
From the beginning of mankind to our modern day society, individuals have a tendency to gape at
individuals who put a lot on the line to achieve a desired goal. Whether it be a Marvel superhero to our
local firemen, individuals who put their well being on the line are placed in a high stature in the eyes
of many. We gravitate to be just like these individuals and are ashamed of becoming viewed as a
coward. This idea is prevalent in people of all ages, backgrounds, and gender and will continue to
motivate us to attain glory by means of taking risks. However, it is important to know the fine line
between taking risks and putting yourself in inevitable danger. One must be willing to accept the
consequence of failure. Some of the most successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it isn t equivalent to daredevils who bungee jump or skydive, most of what we do is in the
boundaries of risk taking. People start taking risks from the moment you were born. Babies take the
risk that their caregivers will provide them the right nourishment to prosper. In infants, their first step
to walking involved them taking the risk of falling down. Children take risks of losing whenever they
play a game of competition. High school students take risks when they take standardized exams such
as the SAT which serves as a measuring stick between themselves and their peers. Adults who apply
for a job take the risk of not getting accepted or eventually fired. Old people take the risk of getting up
everyday and face the possibility of injuring their frail bodies. One of the most risky concept in our
modern day world is sports. Sports attract a huge audiences and unite people of all backgrounds.
However, if you watch sports, you likely have a favorite team. If you have a favorite team, you are
putting your money that your preferred franchise will win the championship year after year. As a
result, if you follow a specific team, you face the risk of elimination. This exemplifies that the most
unifying concepts involve risk

Antigone s Moral Responsibility
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. In the face of
immoral laws, Antigone did nothing more than doing what she believed was right. Antigone did not
deserve the fate she received, death. Her act was courageous, compassionate, and altruistic. These are
traits of an act worthy of reverence, not demise. When stuck between defying her uncle Creon s law
and doing what she knew to be morally right, Antigone was not dissuade by danger. She was the
definition of courageous! She shows even more bravery when she is caught burying Polynices, and is
still not deterred. Her resolve is ever unfaltering, and even seems to grow stronger as the
consequences of her actions become reality. She can be quoted saying And if I have to die for this pure
crime, I am content, for I shall rest beside him; His love will answer mine. (page 16). She is not afraid
of dying, since she knows she is committing no real crime and her actions are completely justified and
pure. She is also comforted by the fact that she will be with her brother, and his love will be enough.
Compassion can be seen clearly in Antigone s actions. Her loyalty and devotion to her family is
unquestionable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did The Iroquois Confederacy Influence The Us...
The United States Constitution was heavily influenced by the Iroquois Confederacy s political theory,
though Eurocentric history lessons often teach about the French and Greek influence. In 1988, the
House Concurrent Resolution 331 passed which recognized the Iroquois Confederacy s contribution to
the U.S. Constitution. Even after H.Con.Res 331 was passed, the Iroquois Confederacy s influence
continues to be disregarded, most people have to wait until specific classes in higher education to
learn about the connection. With the whitewashing of history, many Native American influences have
been overlooked that directly correlate to the creation of the U.S. Constitution, though the Founding
Fathers did revise the Iroquois political theory to better match the freedom of the U.S. Various
European philosophers drew influence from the Iroquois Confederacy to establish their theories. A
French philosopher, Jean Jacques Rousseau, whom the theory of human nature is attributed to,
focused much on the importance of simple living (Grinde 234). Rousseau s theory idolizes the
freedom and relationship with nature that American Indians had established. When examining John
Locke, a predominant English philosopher, Donald Grinde speaks about Locke s Second Treatise on
Civil Government, that refers to all humans being equal in their rights, this mirrored the Great Law of
Peace the Iroquois Confederacy established. Much of Locke s philosophy alludes to Native and
Christian influences.

ancestor because it is unreasonable to say that the current generations of Native Americans are
disadvantaged due to the large revenues they generate from gambling. In the United States today,
Native American gaming comprises casinos, bingo halls, and other gambling operations on India
reservations or other tribal land. These areas are all have tribal sovereignty, which means that states
have limited ability to forbid gaming there because of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988. Due
to the negative affects from large revenues of gambling, Native Americans should not receive
reparations for their land. Currently, almost half of American s ... Show more content on

Per capita payments are the cash that the tribe distributes each year from its casino profits, which have
grown as gaming revenues have risen and can range from as little as a few hundred dollars a year to
more than $100,000. These payments have been shown to have negative affects and could be done in a
more positive and effective way. In the study done by the American Indian Law Journal, of the 17
tribes studies that handed casino profits directly to its members, 10 saw their poverty rates rise, and of
the 7 tribes that did note, only two saw such an increase. One tribe in northern Washington has
eliminated poverty completely, and that tribe does not issue any per capita payments and has used its
casino profits to diversify into other businesses. With growing tribal gaming revenues, poverty can
become worse through the way casino profits are sometimes distributed through its per capita
payments. These payments can be seen as a form of reparations, but they show the negative affects
they have on the Native Americans by allowing some of them to be comfortable with living in poverty
because of they payments they know they are going to receive from the casinos due to their large
profits and the way casinos distribute them. There are many reasons to link financial problems and
crime to the large revenues of gambling. Financial losses are one of the extreme threats and costs to
the gambler. This is because

Obesity Is The Reason Our Youth
Introduction Childhood obesity has been on a steady incline over the past 30 years and is considered a
serious public health concern, especially in elementary school aged children. According to the US
Surgeon General, nearly one in three children are overweight or obese (US Department of Human
Health Services, 2014). The American Heart Association (2010) has age and sex specific growth
charts that show the calculation of children s BMI using their height and weight. When children s
weight is well above the average for their height and age they are classified as obese. Children BMI
for age is in the 95th percentile or higher is considered to be obese. Obese children normally consume
more energy in the form of food and drinks then they burn off with physical exercise (Kids Health,
2014). Our nation s obesity epidemic effects are immense: taxpayers, communities, and families spend
hundreds of billions of dollars each year in medical costs and attempts to end childhood obesity
(Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2014). Obesity is the reason our youth is predicted to live shorter
lives than our parents and we need to change this. Childhood obesity has long term harmful effects on
a child s future health. Obese children are more likely to have high blood pressure and high
cholesterol which put them more at risk for cardiovascular disease in the future (Center for Disease
Control Prevention, 2014). Childhood obesity can lead to type 2 diabetes, cancer, asthma, joint

Pinto Case Have Affected The Ford Motor Company Business...
Running head: FORD PINTO 1
FORD PINTO 8
Introduction
Context
This paper explores how ethical issues of Pinto case have affected the Ford Motor Company business
environment. A number of factors suggest that Ford Motor Company was negligent and violated its
code of ethics. In this paper, we will review the corporate culture mindset which prioritizes profit over
the value of human life for the purpose financial gain.
Purpose
There are many different cases where people have been critically injured or have died from burn
related injuries from the ruptured the Pino gas tank. This case study specifically discusses the 1978
untimely deaths of Lynn Marie Ulrich, Dana Ulrich, and Judy Ann. Between 1971 and 1978, the Pinto
was responsible for a number of fire related deaths. It was the death of these teenagers that lead
brought the controversy of the Ford Pinto s faulty gas tank placement to a climax resulting in criminal
homicide charges for the automaker. Ford s CEO Henry Ford II and Ford s new president Lee Iacocca
were responsible for the launch of the Ford Pinto. To stay ahead of the growing competition, The Pinto
was not to weigh over 2,000 pounds and not costs not to exceed $2,000. Ford officials knew that the
Pinto represented a serious fire issue when struck from the rear, but were desperate to expedite the
vehicle s release, the Pintos timing was set just under 25 months. Tooling has already been kicked off,
so when crash tests revealed a serious defect in the gas tank, it was too late for any design
modifications. The tooling was well underway. Therefore, Ford s president decided it would be too
costly to make changes in the Pinto s gas tank location pushing ahead with the original design which
went unchanged for six years. Any changes to the low cost Ford Pinto would result in an increased
price, thus possibly making it less desirable by small car buyers. Iacocca understood that people
shopping for compact cars were watching every dollar, One Ford engineer explained, the process of
elasticity on these subcompacts is extremely tight. You can price yourself right out of the market by
adding $25 to the production cost of the model .

Analysis of the Translation of the Analects of Confucius
Jpz777 04/29/2013 Order # 2094035 In an authoritative and widely cited translation of the Analects of
Confucius originally published in 1938, celebrated English sinologist Arthur Waley provided the most
comprehensive explication of this enduring contribution to humanistic philosophy, one which has
since been continually reprinted for scholarly study. An anthology of short yet powerful passages
which capture the beliefs taught by Confucius during his lifetime, the Analects offers a fluid recreation
of Confucius and his associated teachings, through the prism provided by the evolving structure of the
school of thought created. Beginning with a sober deconstruction of the mythologizing which has
come to define the Western conception of Confucius, of whom Waley states it appears from the
Analects that he was a private person who trained the sons of gentlemen in the virtues proper to a
member of the ruling class (14), this translation offers modern readers with an comprehensive and
historically accurate interpretation of the Analects, and their influence on the resulting system of moral
mastery known as Confucianism. Spreading slowly but steadily throughout China after the original
texts comprising the Analects was compiled by Confucius pupils in approximately 300 BCE, the
philosophy of social and political ethics espoused in these twenty books developed into a combination
of religious dogma and ruling doctrine. As Waley notes in the Introduction to his translation, from

Self-Reliance
Sanaya Williams PH 221 Professor Bradley Final Paper Ralph Waldo Emerson Self Reliance Self
Reliance is considered one of Ralph Waldo Emerson s best known essays. The essay was first
published in 1841 in his collection, Essays: First Series. This essay contains the most thorough
statement of Emerson s emphasis on the need for individuals to avoid conformity and false
consistency, and instead follow their own instincts and ideas. This essay shows Emerson s ways for
making and translating classical philosophy and turning it to comprehensible language, and signifying
its relevance to everyday life. It is broken into three sections: the value of and barriers to self reliance,
self reliance and the individual, and self reliance and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self reliance has the word self in it, so everything is about you how you realize and accept that you are
responsible for everything in your life and if you want something done, you must do it yourself.
Characteristics for being self reliant come from within, being self dependent, and self deprived.
Having the ability to listen to themselves and follow their own intuition. This Emerson essay is by far
my favorite because it is so realistic. I think many people can benefit from reading this, because it is
an essential in life to be self reliant. This essay is compelling because it opens your eyes to what self
reliance really is and how it relates to society. Emerson is stating for self realization, and how you do
not need acceptance from society to be yourself. He writes, What I must do, is all that concerns me,
not what the people think. Following that statement, he goes on saying to be as independent as
possible in our beliefs. Meaning if one is not independent is his/her own belief how would they know
who they are, if you are unknown to yourself, how could we be known to anyone else. Know yourself
and then let other know you. If they can accept you for who you are without trying to change you then
they are worthy of your affections and if they cannot accept you, leave them alone. Concluding Self
Reliance, Emerson leaves the readers with Nothing can bring you peace but

Indian Methods of managing Stress
Indian philosophy consisting of Upanishadas, Vedanta, etc, is very helpful in winning stress. Dr. Satish
Chandra Pandey (8m Journal, JIMS April June 1997) has given some valid points on managing stress,
some of which are as follows
1. Develop training programs for executives and other staff members for their total personality
development based on Indian values, so that they can develop their own strategies for coping with
their organizational environment/stressors.
2. Each organization must develop its own management philosophy based on Indian values and
educate its employees about that philosophy to motivate them for achieving excellence in different
areas.
3. Organizations must know that reducing organizational stress is as important as motivating
employees. Both the process is complementary to each other: they are not replacements.

Increasing Number Of People From The Western...
An increasing number of people especially in the western industrialized countries of the world are
working longer hours than people did in the past few decades. As a result, less time is being spent on
activities such as family care or leisure, creating an imbalance of time spent between work and home
life. In Britain for example, prospects for a work life balance for many workers appear to be slipping
away; Britons work the longest number of hours in Europe and one in six work more than 60 hours a
week! (Crush, 2011). For employers and policy makers this trend is worrying, because of the potential
adverse effects to people s physical and mental health well being (Beauregard, 2011).There is
evidence that this problem is high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example walking across a street should not be identified as work as it is merely completing a task
but doing household work although may not earn a living but can be defined as work! Hence work is a
compromise between two important aspects executing tasks and making a living but add that making a
living goes beyond earning for economic survival, that it relates to the social and economic contexts
that shapes the individual. Watson (2008) further explained that, what is not work can then be
described as leisure; leisure activities that are not aimed at earning income or working at home but
solely for the purposes of enjoyment. It follows that work and leisure are in opposition. Parker (1982)
presented a relationship between work and leisure as consisting of three types extension, opposition
and neutrality; the first, extension refers to a non work activities or leisure, that similar to activities at
work for the individual opposition involves leisure activities deliberately dissimilar from the events at
work. Neutrality can be a middle between the other two but at times in events that are not actively
work or leisure. Parker (1982) explanation of work although to a large extent serves the

Objections to Charles Peirce s Article, A Neglected...
Objections to Charles Peirce s Article, A Neglected Argument for the Reality of God
ABSTRACT: Charles S. Peirce sketches a nest of three arguments for the Reality of God in his article
A Neglected Argument for the Reality of God. I provide careful analysis and explication of Peirce s
argument, along with consideration of some objections. I argue that (1) there are significant
differences between Peirce s neglected argument and the traditional arguments for God s existence; (2)
Peirce s analysis of the neglected argument into three arguments is misleading; (3) there are two
distinct levels of argument that Peirce does not recognize; and (4) it is doubtful whether the argument
meets all the criteria set by Peirce himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Peirce distinguishes between an argument and argumentation. An argument is any process of
thought reasonably tending to produce a definite belief while argumentation refers to an argument that
proceeds upon definitely formulated premisses (6.456). We must note that Peirce s Neglected
Argument (hereafter referred to as NA) is an argument, but not argumentation.
Second, we must distinguish between reality and existence. Reality is a broader term that encompasses
what exists but is not synonymous with it. (3) For something to be real it must have properties
sufficient to identify it whether anyone attributes those properties to it or not. The existent, strictly
speaking, is what interacts with things in a spatio temporal environment (6.454). Since God is not
another spatio temporal object, it amounts to fetishism, Peirce remarks, to say that God exists (6.495).
Hence his argument, strictly speaking, is not an argument for God s existence, but for God s reality.
If we compare Peirce s NA with the traditional arguments for God s existence that philosophers know
and love to criticize, we are immediately struck with a major difference. Peirce s argument is not
argumentation, but the traditional arguments (ontological, cosmological, teleological) are
argumentation. Peirce is not offering yet another bit of argumentation that concludes with a
proposition of metaphysical theology about the existence or reality of some being

Latin American Immigration And The Growth Of The Latino...
Critical Response
Latin American immigration to the United States and the growth of the latino and hispanic population
is currently one of the most controversial topics being debated right now. What started as a small,
regionally concentrated population of fewer 6 million in 1960, is now broadly scattered population of
more than 50 million. Latino population keeps growing and exerting enormous impact on social,
cultural, political, and economic aspects in the U.S. However, unlike what a lot of people think, Latino
immigration to the United states is more than a population s aspirations to the american dream, it has
been influenced by multiple factors such as national, regional, and global developments, the history of
the U.S. military and its foreign policy in the Western Hemisphere, the controversial history of
international border enforcement. When latino immigrants get to the United States, they make it their
nation. However, their nation often fails to protect them and their interests, as well as embrace them.
In this essay, I will explore in detail the various factors that drove the Latino community to immigrate
to the U.S., and how the role of the U.S. as their nation shapes their experience.
Latino migration to the United States has been largely influenced by the economic and political unrest
Latin American countries have experienced and still experience. Latin American countries are still
experiencing things as drug wars, dictatorships, etc. To Latinos, the U.S. is

Business Model And Strategic Plan Part II
Business Model and Strategic Plan Part II: SWOTT Analysis Paper According to Colbert, a SWOT
analysis can assist a company by viewing and examining internal and external concerns; therefore it is
a useful tool to make concise strategic decisions for various periods (2015). The first aspect pertains to
the strengths that a corporation faces from all sources by scrutinizing how the company handles
situations (Colbert, 2015). Weaknesses focuses on areas that need to be addressed whether on a large
or individual scale to evaluate what courses of actions can be taken to expand on improvement
(Colbert, 2015). The third category of the analysis centers on opportunities that a business can
emphasize within their respective industry or the professional environment (Colbert, 2015). The last
section views risks that can develop from outside competitors or any problems that might arise from
any influential source; therefore it is imperative that a business entity utilizes threat factors because it
can assist in identification and problem resolution to deal with the issue at hand whether past or
present (Colbert, 2015). The Offices of MLO operates on a smaller scale than the big three such as H
R Block, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, or Liberty Tax Service. Caragher suggests a series of questions
that can be purposed to members of the professional environment within an accounting firm to
develop and ascertain the objectives and strategy that will be taken (2014). The following questions

World Of Forms In Plato s Third Man Argument
Philosophy Essay
Everyone has their own unique way of how they see the world. It helps people attempt to understand
this planet we call our home. Some people use religion to make sense of the miraculous things here on
this planet, some use religion, some uses science and others just go with the status quo and what they
have been told. Although common, those are not the only ways to justify the seemingly unexplainable.
Two world famous philosophers named Plato and Aristotle debated whether or not they believed their
view point was correct. Plato believed in his Theory of Forms while Aristotle rebuked his claims with
his Third Man Argument. I will argue that a World of Forms does not exists per se but there is another
world that has the same features as the World of Forms such as being eternal, unchanging, unmoving
and indivisible.
Theory of Forms
Plato s Theory of Forms is discussed in several of his dialogues but the Republic is most well known
for being written during what people call the peak of his genius . Plato believed that the things we
normally experience on the day to day with our five senses; sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell, are
not truly real. He believed real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

beautiful in the meantime while it is alive but after it dies that thing is no longer beautiful. The same
thing cannot be said for the form of beauty. Even if all of the beautiful things in the world of senses
died the Form of beauty will still be there. The forms are unmoving and indivisible because they are
not physical objects that you can pick up and move or split in half they are beyond the physical
aspects of this world. The forms are unchanging, physical things may change and shift but because it
is an ideal thing not a concrete object that cannot happen with the

Benefits Of A New Technique For Tie Over Dressing Essay
Tie over dressing is the most common technique used to fix the skin graft to its recipient bed. In our
study we use a new technique for tie over in the form of multiple opposing simple loop stiches tied by
rubber bands to allow reapplication of tie over if indicated without anesthesia. The study was
conducted on 20 patients presented by raw areas of variable etiologies, treated with skin grafting
(STSG or FTSG) and simple loop stitch tie over technique. The patients were followed up for 1 2
months. All grafts showed very good to excellent results as the skin graft take ranges from 75% to
100%. Complications were seen in 5 cases in one case was slipped one simple loop and the other 4
cases was local infection. We documented a novel, simple, economic, time saving and applicable tie
over dressing that allows fixing and re fixing of the skin grafts when needed to maintain a proper
pressure dressing to the wound. Keywords Skin transplantation / Reconstructive surgical procedure /
surgical fixation devices.
Introduction
Skin grafting is the most common procedure used in reconstructive surgery. Tie over dressing is the
most common technique used to fix the skin graft to the recipient bed, decrease the dead space, and
prevent hematoma and seroma under the graft. The classic method consists of the use of long silk

Surrealism Joel Rea
Surrealism is one of the recognizable art movements with influential impacts in contemporary art.
Advocating an art of imagination, the artists explore the unconscious as a method to discover the
possible vision. They focus on the power of endless imagination and trace back to the romantic
emotions, explore anxieties and present the emotions visually. Besides, the Surrealistic artists believe
everywhere, and daily life could be their inspiration. In the arts, the Surrealist ideas combine abstract

With a bit of Dali and what Rea calls a Gulliver s Travels vibe, his work reflects the often dramatic
content of modern digital media combined with classical oil painting (Fig. 5). For instance, while Rea
was creating his work (Fig. 5), the giant dog is his pet called Jax. Rea thought making him giant is
interesting and combine the memory of his childhood fascination with dinosaurs and science fiction
movies. As an active artist, Joel Rea always devoting himself to creating artworks reflect issues of our
generation and the society; his work also combines the multimedia with purely conceptual surrealism,
which defines the trend of Postmodernism in most recent years. Rea admitted that his portrait
represents himself as dual identities to reflect his inner conflicts and wild imagination. Before he starts
to create on canvas, Rea spends plenty of time reflecting and envisioning his imagination. He draws
from various new technology media, pre visualized designs, and photo shoots to combine all different
and unique elements into one final picture. Through his manipulation of the scene, Rea creates art that
reflects the richness, detail, and complexity of life. This artist puts the many layers of himself into a

  • 2. Summary Of Jackie Robinson Justice At Last In the article Jackie Robinson : Justice at Last, it tells the reader a lot about a MLB player who broke the color barrier. Jackie Robinson was a tremendous athlete, intelligent, sensitive, calm, and skillful, perfect for the job. Jackie Robinson agreed to play on the MLB team The Dodgers. He had to agree to many things to play, and he did. He agreed to take abuse, avoid fighting, and be brave. Jackie Robinson was the right man to complete the job. Indeed, Jackie Robinson was brave. He took the abuse for others such as teammates, fans, opponents. He kept his agreement with Rickey, the coach of the Dodgers, and kept on going. He avoided fights, ignored the threats of death from the crowd, and he ignored the opponents complaints. In the text it states, Robinson s first season was difficult. Fans threatened to kill him; players tried to hurt him. The St. Louis Cardinals said they would strike if he took the field. He was brave, keeping his cool throughout these events. Also, Jackie had to be very calm and cool about all of the negative impact put on him. All of the negative comments, abusive acts towards him, the booing had to be a lot to ignore. He had to have a lot of self restraint to keep his anger/feelings inside to keep his deal with Rickey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jackie hit .387 in the Negro leagues. In the text it says, Robinson was college educated, and knew what joining the majors would do for the blacks. It also says, The grandson of a slave, he was proud of his race and wanted others to feel the same. These pieces of text show how Jackie Robinson was skillful and the perfect person for the job. • 3. Pros And Cons Of Insanity Defense The insanity defense, used when a defendant commits a crime but is mentally incapable of understanding the consequence of his actions, is a controversial plea that has been in existence for several centuries. The insanity defense uses the idea that the defendant committed the crime, but due to the lack of mental instability, was unable to understand that their actions are wrong. The insanity defense dates back to the 19th century. Daniel M Naghten was a woodworker who thought that he was a target of a conspiracy with the pope and the British Prime Minister, Robert Peel. He went down to 10 Downing Street planning to attack Robert Peel, but instead shot and killed his secretary. During his trial, the jury found Daniel M Naghten delusional and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using the insanity defense, it can get rid the death penalty all together. Instead of getting put up for the electric chair, the defendant could plead insanity be admitted to an asylum, whether the person is found guilty of the crime or not. Just by pleading insane, it promotes an atmosphere of guilt almost instantly.Instead of trying to argue facts, the person has to prove to the defendant that their actions were wrong but because of his or her mental state, they are innocent. Societies punish those who do not have the mental capacity to know right from wrong. The insanity defense can also lessen or mean no jail time. Instead of being sent to jail for committing a crime, the defendant will be sent to an asylum. The chances of this plea working in cases is slim to none because the plea has become harder to get away with. There are all these positive things about the insanity defense, but there are equally as negative things. The insanity defense can also increase trial costs. If the defendant tries to plead guilty, then the cost of the trial would go up, due to hiring a specialist to determine the level of existing conditions. The insanity defense is not implemented in all court systems. Some court system do not use the insanity defense. The insanity defense can be hard to prove sometimes. (Source ... According to GM s bankruptcy filing, the company has assets of $82.3 billion, and liabilities of $172.8 billion. That would make GM the fourth largest U.S. bankruptcy on record, according to Bankruptcydata.com, just behind the 2002 bankruptcy of telecom WorldCom. Three of the largest bankruptcies in history GM, Wall Street investment bank Lehman Brothers and savings and loan Washington Mutual, have occurred in the last nine months. GM will use the trip into bankruptcy court to shed plants, dealerships, debt and other liabilities it can no longer afford. Emerging out of bankruptcy quickly will be a new GM, made up of the four brands that GM will keep in the U.S. market Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick as well as many of its more successful overseas operations. This is the same process that Chrysler LLC used in its bankruptcy process. Chrysler filed for bankruptcy April 30,2009 and the judge in that case approved the creation of a new company that will be run by Italian automaker Fiat in a ruling Sunday. GM, being a larger, more complicated and global company than Chrysler, is not expected to have its valuable units exit bankruptcy quite as quickly, though. More than two million cases can be found altogether in psychiatric and psychological records of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID); previously called Multiple Personality Disorder. Dissociative Identity Disorder exists as a peculiar mental disorder in which a person possesses two or more evident and distinctive personalities. Through accounts like the movie Sybil, this disorder received much attention worldwide completely altering our previous ideas about Multiple Identity Disorder. Then came Vanessa, who plays piano, and is considered the prettiest of them all; she and Sybil, together, fall in love with their neighbor Richard and his son Matthew (the first to notice Sybil s disease). The most self destructive of the personalities, Marsha, aims to kill Sybil (suicide). In all Sybil, the host, is thought to have sixteen different selves. Though all the personalities do not come at the same time. Sybil suffers from a severe case of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Dissociative Identity Disorder is a chronic form of dissociation, a mental illness which manufactures a lack of connection between a person s thoughts, feelings, actions, memories, or sense of self (MPD). DID is associated with two or more distinct identities, or personality states, that reside in and alternately take control of an individual. The person s behavior is determined by the personality that is dominant at a given time. The person also experiences memory loss that is too extensive to be explained by ordinary forgetfulness. A victim that survives with DID will endure lost time (amnesia) or black out spells, which may lead to denial of their disease and forgetfulness of events and/or experiences. This can promote allegations of lying and manipulation which may lead to confusion for the undiagnosed DID sufferer (MPD). Most patients, when they first enter treatment, most MPD victims are not aware of the existence of other personalities. Other symptoms for DID include: the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Correlation Between Down Syndrome And Alzheimer s... The Correlation between Down syndrome and Alzheimer s disease Anna Lister Biology Honors, P. 3 Mrs. Creech 25 November 2015 Introduction: Alzheimer s disease (AD) is a disease that slowly and progressively causes memory impairment. It will eventually inhibit abilities, such as language, planning, and perception. AD is prevalent in individuals with Down syndrome (DS), a condition where those affected had acquired three additional chromosome 21 before birth (emedicinehealth, 2014). Michael Rafii, director of the Memory Disorders Clinic at UCSD, says that people with Down syndrome represent the world s largest population of individuals predisposed to getting Alzheimer s disease (Hamilton, 2014). There is no cure for either, and scientists are still lacking the knowledge of a complete story. Beta Amyloid, Plaques, and the Destruction of Nerve Cells: There is a large supply of amyloid plaques in the cells of people with Alzheimer s disease. Amyloid plaques are clustered pieces of protein that build up between nerve cells. They speed up the production of beta amyloid, which are polypeptides of about thirty six to forty three amino acids long (emedicinehealth, 2014; Stanford Medicine, 2013). Amyloid precursor proteins (APP), when split into specific pieces, are producers of beta amyloid. They are found in tissues and organs, such as the brain. Amyloid precursor proteins pass through a fatty membrane on the outside of a cell. This allows them to extend from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Aspects Of The Pueblo Revolt Of 1680 The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 Throughout the period of colonization, several aspects of genocide can be identified. From the Genocide Convention of 1948, genocide was lawfully defined as any of the following committed with the intent to destroy in whole or part a national ethnical, racial, or religious group as such: killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions to bring about its destruction, imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group, and/or forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. In what is modern day North America, European settlers began colonizing the area in hopes of achieving their goals of expanding Christianity, acquiring wealth for their countries, and/or gaining personal wealth and power. The European settlers had little care about the indigenous people of the areas they were colonizing, leading to the American Indian Wars (Lasting from 1622 1924) and the genocide of Native Americans. During this time period, the Native American population decreased dramatically as a result of brutal war, disease, and torture. The modern day New Mexico area in particular was home to Indian Pueblos, who showed an extreme act of resistance against their Spanish conquerors. What later became known as the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 showed how resistance to genocide can be achievable and the impacts it may have. Genocide is impossible to overcome ... • 9. Vanity Fair, A Popular Culture And Fashion Magazine Famous actor Jennifer Aniston is the epitome of youth and success in today s pop culture. In essence, she represents what all middle aged women should look like and what young women should want to look like at the age of 46. She can be found in various advertisements for health and beauty products, and with a personal Fountain of Youth and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she is usually portrayed as an inspiration for women (and if she is not thought of this way, she can definitely make a grown woman roll her eyes and scoff). For the past fifty years, advertisements have laid down the laws and standards of recognizable beauty. Ads found in Vanity Fair, a popular culture and fashion magazine which targets young middle aged women, and InStyle, a Hollywood fashion and celebrity trend magazine with a broad aged audience of high middle class women, will be used to discuss points in Susan Bordo s Beauty (Re)discovers the Male Body on beauty, youthfulness, and addictions. An ad running in Vanity Fair is for a Chopard watch, but it also alludes to an entire collection of jewelry called IMPERIALE. Though Victor Frankenstein thinks fundamentally in terms of who belongs to whom , he and the Creature share a strange bond that goes beyond the bounds of mere possession. Frankenstein clearly ignores his mutual obligations and promises, especially towards the Creature, creating a relationship between the two that is composed entirely of power struggles rather than any form of mutuality. In addition to this, as one who thinks about social organization in terms of sheer power, Frankenstein extends this master slave relationship to nature itself in short, he treats nature the same as he treats his unnatural Creation. The United States Constitution was heavily influenced by the Iroquois Confederacy s political theory, though Eurocentric history lessons often teach about the French and Greek influence. In 1988, the House Concurrent Resolution 331 passed which recognized the Iroquois Confederacy s contribution to the U.S. Constitution. Even after H.Con.Res 331 was passed, the Iroquois Confederacy s influence continues to be disregarded, most people have to wait until specific classes in higher education to learn about the connection. With the whitewashing of history, many Native American influences have been overlooked that directly correlate to the creation of the U.S. Constitution, though the Founding Fathers did revise the Iroquois political theory to better match the freedom of the U.S. Various European philosophers drew influence from the Iroquois Confederacy to establish their theories. A French philosopher, Jean Jacques Rousseau, whom the theory of human nature is attributed to, focused much on the importance of simple living (Grinde 234). Rousseau s theory idolizes the freedom and relationship with nature that American Indians had established. When examining John Locke, a predominant English philosopher, Donald Grinde speaks about Locke s Second Treatise on Civil Government, that refers to all humans being equal in their rights, this mirrored the Great Law of Peace the Iroquois Confederacy established. Obesity Is The Reason Our Youth Introduction Childhood obesity has been on a steady incline over the past 30 years and is considered a serious public health concern, especially in elementary school aged children. According to the US Surgeon General, nearly one in three children are overweight or obese (US Department of Human Health Services, 2014). The American Heart Association (2010) has age and sex specific growth charts that show the calculation of children s BMI using their height and weight. When children s weight is well above the average for their height and age they are classified as obese. Children BMI for age is in the 95th percentile or higher is considered to be obese. Obese children normally consume more energy in the form of food and drinks then they burn off with physical exercise (Kids Health, 2014). Our nation s obesity epidemic effects are immense: taxpayers, communities, and families spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year in medical costs and attempts to end childhood obesity (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2014). Obesity is the reason our youth is predicted to live shorter lives than our parents and we need to change this. Childhood obesity has long term harmful effects on a child s future health. A number of factors suggest that Ford Motor Company was negligent and violated its code of ethics. In this paper, we will review the corporate culture mindset which prioritizes profit over the value of human life for the purpose financial gain. Purpose There are many different cases where people have been critically injured or have died from burn related injuries from the ruptured the Pino gas tank. This case study specifically discusses the 1978 untimely deaths of Lynn Marie Ulrich, Dana Ulrich, and Judy Ann. Between 1971 and 1978, the Pinto was responsible for a number of fire related deaths. It was the death of these teenagers that lead brought the controversy of the Ford Pinto s faulty gas tank placement to a climax resulting in criminal homicide charges for the automaker. Ford s CEO Henry Ford II and Ford s new president Lee Iacocca were responsible for the launch of the Ford Pinto. To stay ahead of the growing competition, The Pinto was not to weigh over 2,000 pounds and not costs not to exceed $2,000. Ford officials knew that the Pinto represented a serious fire issue when struck from the rear, but were desperate to expedite the vehicle s release, the Pintos timing was set just under 25 months. Tooling has already been kicked off, so when crash tests revealed a serious defect in the gas tank, it was too late for any design modifications. The tooling was well underway. Therefore, Ford s president decided it would be too costly to make changes in the Pinto s gas tank location pushing ahead with the original design which went unchanged for six years. Any changes to the low cost Ford Pinto would result in an increased price, thus possibly making it less desirable by small car buyers. Analysis of the Translation of the Analects of Confucius Jpz777 04/29/2013 Order # 2094035 In an authoritative and widely cited translation of the Analects of Confucius originally published in 1938, celebrated English sinologist Arthur Waley provided the most comprehensive explication of this enduring contribution to humanistic philosophy, one which has since been continually reprinted for scholarly study. An anthology of short yet powerful passages which capture the beliefs taught by Confucius during his lifetime, the Analects offers a fluid recreation of Confucius and his associated teachings, through the prism provided by the evolving structure of the school of thought created. Beginning with a sober deconstruction of the mythologizing which has come to define the Western conception of Confucius, of whom Waley states it appears from the Analects that he was a private person who trained the sons of gentlemen in the virtues proper to a member of the ruling class (14), this translation offers modern readers with an comprehensive and historically accurate interpretation of the Analects, and their influence on the resulting system of moral mastery known as Confucianism. Spreading slowly but steadily throughout China after the original texts comprising the Analects was compiled by Confucius pupils in approximately 300 BCE, the philosophy of social and political ethics espoused in these twenty books developed into a combination of religious dogma and ruling doctrine. Peirce sketches a nest of three arguments for the Reality of God in his article A Neglected Argument for the Reality of God. I provide careful analysis and explication of Peirce s argument, along with consideration of some objections. I argue that (1) there are significant differences between Peirce s neglected argument and the traditional arguments for God s existence; (2) Peirce s analysis of the neglected argument into three arguments is misleading; (3) there are two distinct levels of argument that Peirce does not recognize; and (4) it is doubtful whether the argument meets all the criteria set by Peirce himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, Peirce distinguishes between an argument and argumentation. An argument is any process of thought reasonably tending to produce a definite belief while argumentation refers to an argument that proceeds upon definitely formulated premisses (6.456). We must note that Peirce s Neglected Argument (hereafter referred to as NA) is an argument, but not argumentation. Second, we must distinguish between reality and existence. Reality is a broader term that encompasses what exists but is not synonymous with it. (3) For something to be real it must have properties sufficient to identify it whether anyone attributes those properties to it or not. The existent, strictly speaking, is what interacts with things in a spatio temporal environment (6.454). Since God is not another spatio temporal object, it amounts to fetishism, Peirce remarks, to say that God exists (6.495). Hence his argument, strictly speaking, is not an argument for God s existence, but for God s reality. If we compare Peirce s NA with the traditional arguments for God s existence that philosophers know and love to criticize, we are immediately struck with a major difference. Peirce s argument is not argumentation, but the traditional arguments (ontological, cosmological, teleological) are argumentation. Peirce is not offering yet another bit of argumentation that concludes with a proposition of metaphysical theology about the existence or reality of some being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although common, those are not the only ways to justify the seemingly unexplainable. Two world famous philosophers named Plato and Aristotle debated whether or not they believed their view point was correct. Plato believed in his Theory of Forms while Aristotle rebuked his claims with his Third Man Argument. I will argue that a World of Forms does not exists per se but there is another world that has the same features as the World of Forms such as being eternal, unchanging, unmoving and indivisible. Theory of Forms Plato s Theory of Forms is discussed in several of his dialogues but the Republic is most well known for being written during what people call the peak of his genius . Plato believed that the things we normally experience on the day to day with our five senses; sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell, are not truly real. He believed real ...
