Why Cheerleading Should Be Considered A Sport
A cheerleader, by definition, is a person who is a member or of a group who shout out special songs
or chants to encourage the team and entertain the crowd during a game. Yet, you see cheerleaders
doing more than just standing around and being pretty in movies, television shows, and even their
own games. They throw people in the air and catch them, they do flips, jumps. They have their own
competitions. But why is it still not considered a sport to many?
A sport is defined as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team
competes against another or others for entertainment. There are many different national and
international associations and organizations that hold their own standard to what can be considered a
sport, but they are all similar: if it involves physical activity and competitions. Cheerleading does, in
fact, fit underneath ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the leading organizations in the cheer world is Varsity, founded in 1974, dedicated to
inspiring and educating cheerleaders worldwide. Varsity sponsors many other well known
cheerleading associations, including UCA (as mentioned above), and the National Cheerleaders
Association, or the NCA. The American Association for Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators,
simply AACCA, is a non–profit educational organization for the cheerleading coaches across the
nation. They train coaches and offer guidelines and regulations for squads in an effort to keep them
safe. International federations include International Cheer Union, ICU, and the International
Federation of Cheerleading, IFC. Both have been recognized as the world's governing body for
cheerleading, but every one of these foundations have been at work to promote the development of
the sport and the cheerleaders themselves.

ASSESSMENT
90th SSPTS has a culture, climate and practices that are built on mutual respect which views
diversity as a force multiplier (BCEE, 2014b, p. 4). From the perspective of leadership stakeholders,
they take a large role in staying actively engaged at every phase so that the organization is
permeated with their desire to have a deeply diverse unit that can meet our mission needs. The First
Sergeant makes daily rounds throughout the 8 flights to guide Airmen at all levels in understanding
the flight path of our diverse organization, answer any questions, and alleviate any concerns. The
Senior Enlisted Manager and the Commander also make similar rounds, but on a weekly basis. Their
perspective is that this provides ample opportunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can broaden their understanding of their peers' workplace strengths and barriers while allowing
them to carry that knowledge back to their own flight for dissemination. Since it will be for just a
few days, the impact on manpower will be minimal but the gains in organizational and structural
diversity will be immense (BCEE, 2014b, p. 11). Another learning activity that can be done would
be to incorporate each section into the orientation program. Currently, members only receive
orientation to the base, squadron administrative section, and their section. By starting Airmen off in
the unit with a better, more inclusive understanding of the organizational and structural diversity
present within the unit, they will be more responsive and adaptive to the needs of their peers.
Finally, utilizing a professional survey such as the Stanford Graduate School of Business Leadership
in Focus can help to uncover latent biases within the organization (Streeter, 2014, p. 121). This then
can be used to create targeted training towards any diversity barriers that may be hidden in addition
to the organizational and structural barriers currently present (BCEE, 2014b, p.

the best job of keeping up with you since I have left UCA, but your lessons have stayed with me. If
anyone taught me that if I put my mind to something and worked hard enough I would succeed it
was you. I cannot say, quantify or qualify how much I appreciate you and the effort that you put into

Being A Cheerleader Essay
Amidst cheerleaders of all ages cheering and screaming, I heard a meek voice to the right of me,
asking is I was a senior. When I told the young girl I was, she awed about wanting to have my
leadership skills when she got to be my age. In this moment of chaos at the UCA Cheer Camp, I
realized how my leadership skills have grown over the years of being a cheerleader. Every summer,
I went to this cheer camp, where cheerleaders are trained to be leaders not just in school spirit, but in
our everyday lives. I, too, had the expectation that I was a leader, but never really thought what
made me a leader, until the shy cheerleader talked to me. Over my time at the camp, I was learning
what qualities make an outstanding leader. I thought that the only ... Show more content on

comments made all the girls faces beam with excitement, which made me feel accomplished on the
inside. Even when the squads were perfecting every tough stunt given to them, I still would go over
and joyfully tell them what a fantastic job they were doing. Finally, my positive attitude at camp
made me realize I am a leader, and it's the quality I have grown the most in. Rather than get down
and have or speak negative thoughts, I was continually positive at camp, even amongst the burning
heat and exhaustion we all faced. During my final time at UCA camp, I really began to realize that a
leader isn't somebody who tells their team to go and do something, but somebody who says lets go
and does the activity with their team. One tiny cheerleader had the guts to come up to me, a loud and
obnoxious senior cheerleader, and say how she wanted to be just like me when she would become a

Paren Parent Involvement Essay
Students and parents living in public housing have difficulty accessing computers due to the parent's
lack of income. A direct result of having a lack of computer access for students results in low grades
primarily around the C to D range. The organization, HACA is increasing the amount of
opportunities for families to support their students so they will be able to excel in their education
and integrate families into the school community. Technology will assist with communication to the
families and students from the school campus. The communication is the key to parental
involvement and their involvement is the key to the student's success and ability to learn. HACA has
initiated numerous programs for the families and their students. And through the creation of a
website, parents and students will be able to learn more about their student's homework, school
expectations, and open communication directly with the teachers and administrators when an issue
arises. The reality of a website is parents who are not technologically savvy or no access to a
computer will continue to have a difficult time using the HACA website, completing complex
forms, and uncomfortable with the gifted are going to have a difficult time using the HACA website

Robotic Male Crabs
Many animals exhibit unique mating patterns and over time have evolved species specific traits to
grab the attention of potential mates. Sexual Selection allows for individuals who possess certain
qualities to produce more offspring than others, resulting in the evolution by means of natural
selection of that trait and the diminishing of the traits of the weaker individuals. This allows for
greater fitness of an individual which will in turn benefit the species as a whole. Male Fiddle crabs
possess one large claw, which has been observed to be used as a weapon and as a signal of courtship
(Callander et al. 2013). In their study, Callander and her team used a robotic male crab claw to

2013). The second experiment on the other hand did show a female preference to the alternative
stimulus waving at a faster rate than the control (Callander et al. 2013). The experimenters in this
study found no evidence that female fiddler crabs mate choice is effected by the shape of the male's
claw alone (Callander et al. 2013). This experiment did however show evidence that females prefer
a mate with a faster courting wave rate, choosing the alternative, faster waving stimulus, over the
control, U. mjoebergi claw, in almost every trial (Callander et al. 2013). The results this experiment
suggest that claw shape in male fiddle crabs has not evolved due to sexual selection (Callander et al.
2013). Male fiddle crabs do use their claw for male–male combat so it is plausible that claw shape is
the outcome of evolution under selection in being the dominant male (Callander et al.

The Causes And Consequences Of Grade Inflation
Grade inflation has been a widespread issue that has been affecting many institutions. It may be in a
way where the instructor raises a students grade by one letter, or by raising a failing grade to a
passing grade. Many colleges and universities to this day use the typical letter grading system which
is A,B,C,D,F. Some universities, on the other hand feel that this grading system is under estimating
students intelligence and abilities. Also, many universities are suffering from the problem of grades
that are expanding. Professors and teachers who over evaluate the quality of the student's work or
assignment and consequently assign a grade higher than what the student deserves mainly cause the
problem. Causes that might cause grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives, target of
getting an 'A' grade and avoiding an 'F' and students being in competition with their classmates.
One of the causes of grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives or high expectations from
parents to their children. Many parents put pressure on their children to get good grades. As a result,
the children demand to get A's to meet one of their parents expectations, which is to good a good
job. They get motivated to only get the best of grades. This later becomes a students personal
motive. The students get motivated by letter grades and believe that an "A" is the only acceptable
grade and a doorway to a brighter future. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one student gets an 'A' while their classmate gets a grade below a 'C' grade he or she tends to
make the other feel worse. This type of behavior automatically drives the other student out of his

the competition to prove himself/herself better than his

Osmoregulation
THE OSMOREGULATORY ABILITY IN PHASCOLOSOMA LURCAAND UCA COARCTATA
Abstract
Phascolosoma lurca (P. lurca) and Uca coarctata (U. coarctata) species and their organs were
examined and studied to determine their osmoregulatory ability using the density of extracellular
fluid (ECF) as a measure of ionic and osmotic concentration. Body fluids are denser than water
which has a specific gravity of 1, plus solutes. Through the examination of the two organisms, P.
lurca is an osmoconformer and U. coactarta is an osmoregulator.
Introduction
Osmoregulation is the physiological process that all organisms of any habitat use to maintain their
water balance and internal salt for several different reasons such as, compensating for water ... Show

lurca and U. coarctata
The graph shown above indicates that P. lurca follows the same trend as the medium. However, it is
also clear that the U. coarctata varies very differently to that of the medium after a specific a gravity
of 1/4 for the medium.
Discussion
The aim of the experiment was to determine whether P. lurca is an osmoconformer and U. coarctata
is an osmoregulator with the varying salinity levels within the environment they live and the data
achieved proved this hypothesis to be true. The data implies that P. lurca maintains a relatively close
ionic concentration to that of it's surrounding environment. This clearly shows that this organism is
an osmoconformer. On the other hand, the data also suggests that U. coarctata is an osmoconformer
because it's extracellular fluid maintains the same ionic concentration while the environmental
concentration changes (Graph 1). It is evident that the organism changes from osmoconforming to
osmoregulating due to the concentrations, or it could not handle the low salinity levels within that
environment.
P. lurca relies on the surrounding environment for its internal ionic concentration. This is because it
cannot survive without the external ionic concentration being more or less parallel to the internal
ionic

Essay On Mutation
Spontaneous mutations occur during a normal cell process creating genetic changes (text p.206).
There are varying types of spontaneous mutations including, silent, missense, nonsense, and
frameshift mutations. How are these mutations the same and how are they different? Silent,
missense, and nonsense mutations all occur when base substitutions happen (text p.206). A base
substitution is when the wrong nucleotide is incorporated during DNA synthesis, this is the most
common mutation (lecture). In a silent mutation a base substitution occurs, incorporating an
incorrect nucleotide, the result is a codon that codes for an amino acid that is the same as the wild
type (text p. 206). In a missense mutation, the resulting mutant codon does not ... Show more

These mutations are ones that often produce stop codons, putting a halt to the creation of the protein
with shortened amino acid sequences. They may also generate proteins that do not function. By
simply adding a single nucleotide you alter the coding outcomes of the remaining nucleotides down
the sequence. If one were to insert a sequence of three nucleotides, they would be inserting a
complete amino acid. Because of this, there is a higher likelihood that the sequence of three
nucleotides would simple produce a new amino acid, rather than a stop codon, unless it itself was a
stop codon. This creation of a new amino acid to the sequence would elongating the genetic
sequence and continue to produce a functioning protein while allowing the remaining gene sequence
to remain the same. Example 1.1: Insertion into a reading frame:

Truth is, there are two very different types of cheerleaders. There are the traditional sideline
cheerleaders who cheer on other teams for support, and then there are the competitive cheerleaders,
who perform in front of audiences and judges to receive their own first place title. Competitive
cheerleaders are just as much athletes as cross–country runners or gymnasts! Cheerleading is even
expanding and growing into more than just a hobby. Erik Brady agrees when he writes in his article
in USA Today, "The world of cheer no longer means sideline squads that exist solely to support
other teams" (Brady). Cheerleading has grown extensively in the past twenty years. It now has its
own magazines and web forums, such as Fierceboard or Inside Cheerleading. People join All–star
cheerleading teams, which are just like travel club soccer or softball teams. The difference is that the
hobby of cheerleading isn't getting recognized for the sport that it is.
Though it is agreed that sideline cheerleaders are not athletes, organizations and teams can not seem
to get competitive cheerleading passed as a sport. In fact, Quinnipiac University was unable to gain
their cheerleaders the sport status that they desired. A Connecticut judge passed Title XI stating that
cheerleading was an activity, not a school sport, excluding them from varsity scholarships and
athletic funds.

The History of Cheerleading Essay
The history of cheerleading is connected to the development of sports in the United States and
crowd participation at athletic events. In 1869, the first American football college game took place
at Rutgers University against Princeton University in Piscataway, New Jersey. This was where
cheerleading initially began.
By the 1880s, the students at Princeton formed an all–male student "pep club" to lead chants and
yells in order to support their team and create an exciting sports environment. To motivate their
team, people in the stands would yell encouragements such as "Tiger, Tiger, Sis, Sis, Sis!" and
'Princeton, Princeton, Princeton!" In 1884, Princeton alumni, Thomas Peebles, successfully
introduced the concept of cheer and pep club at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to Campbell and his fellow "yell leaders", Minnesota won the game 17–6 and cheerleading
was born. Based on their success, cheerleading continued to grow and develop over time. As
participation in cheerleading grew over time, new techniques and skills were added, until
cheerleading became what it is today. Meanwhile, the sport of Basketball invented in 1891, also
grew in popularity and became a major sport where cheerleading also continued to develop and
prosper over the next 100 years.
For the first 25 years cheer was a "male only" activity. In 1923, the first women cheerleaders were
introduced at the University of Minnesota at their sports games. They were only allowed to join
because they had very limited options when it came to sports.. They wore ankle–length skirts and
varsity sweaters. Female cheer squads included skills such as gymnastics, dance, and stunting in
their routines. In the 1930s, cheerleaders used paper poms when cheering. The first vinyl pom–poms
were made in 1965. Even though women participated in cheerleading in several parts of the country,
it wasn't until the 1940s when the male students left the country to fight in World War II that women
became the majority of cheerleading's athletes. Women took charge and led the crowd in cheers and
performed their own routines. Today, more than 90% of the world's cheerleaders are female.

British Influence On Afghanistan's Emir Amanullah Khan
Topic: Afghanistan's Emir Amanullah Khan declares independence from the British influence in
1919.
A Strive for Independence
Before America became its own country it was subject to control and influence under Great Britain
and was not able to flourish, just like the country of Afghanistan. From 1790 all the way up until
1919, Afghanistan was under British rule and influence. History played a major role in how this
independence in Afghanistan had developed and came to be. In 1919, Afghanistan's Emir Amanullah
Khan declared independence from the long–lasting British influence in the country (Barry Neild).
This was an event that shaped Afghanistan in many ways and was also a factor in how the country is
today. Khan was a seen as a hero by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before, Afghanistan's art reflected that of western regions, but this changed once the country
reached independence. In 1922, archaeologists discovered Islamic art in Afghanistan (UCA). From
this point on the country's art portrayed traditional arts and a new interest in dynamism. With a new
art form, communities started implementing art schools for children and adults to gain knowledge
and a new perspective on art, for example The School of Fine Arts in Kabul in the 1930s. With new
social aspects, the people could build monuments and other statues of architectural value to show
respect to leaders and important events. With independence, Afghanistan's people were able to be
free with their art, this is very similar to the rights that are granted in the first amendment of the

Harlingen High School's Argument Analysis
Throughout our lives, we will come across other individuals whose opinions differ from ours.
Whether we decide to shadow their beliefs or stay strong to our own, it is how we handle the
situation, as well as what we take from it, that shapes our character. I am now aware that, for the
most part, it is best to have your own voice and remain firm to what you believe in instead of
changing your views in order to please others just to fit in. As senior year approached, I had made
the decision to tryout for Harlingen High School's cheerleading squad. Being placed on a team of
thirty–two girls, it was surely unavoidable to become caught up in disagreements. For instance, in
June of 2015, our squad traveled to Austin, TX to attend UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association)
cheer camp. At camp, the five seniors on our team each competed for UCAAll–American, an award
given to select individuals through a tryout process. Later, during camp, the cheerleaders who
happened to make All–American were announced. It was soon discovered that each five seniors had
received this award. I assumed everyone would be full of joy. However, to my amazement, the
atmosphere appeared much different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of them felt they were significantly more deserving of obtaining this award than I was and did

prevent them from turning their backs on me as well as excluding me, I agreed that I did not deserve
the award and forced myself to be unhappy simply to satisfy them. I allowed them to control my
emotions and lay negative thoughts inside my mind. For most of my life I would try to please others

The Empathic Civilization : The Race Essay
Next is Jeremy Rifkin's book The Empathic Civilization: The Race to Global Consciousness in a
World in Crisis. This book explores the development of empathy from the beginning of studied
history to modern time. Rifkin makes predictions about what the world will become as humanity
moves towards the Age of Empathy. Rifkin uses many areas of study to prove his point including,
but not limited to, psychology, philosophy, biology, anthropology, history, etc. Rifkin stresses the
"Age of Faith and Age of Reason" becoming the "Age of Empathy, without, however abandoning
the special qualities of the previous worldviews." Therefore when the Age of Empathy arrives, there
will still be faith and reason. It is not an all or nothing situation. Rifkin follows the person on their
journey of growth, as well as all of humanities growth throughout history. The best way to picture
his philosophy and thoughts is with a timeline with 2 segments converging into one main idea which
continues. (Figure 2) The ultimate segment is the Age of Empathy, which is what everything was
moving forward with pieces of the Age of Faith and Reason tied into it. Rifkin states that humans
are "wired of empathy" as social beings which he backs up time and time again with various
examples of empathy as well as lack of empathy. Such as, if a child is not nurtured during the
developmental years, then they have more sociopathic/ psychopathic tendencies when they age. It is
the discovery of this that we realize that

Are Academics More Academic Than Extroverts?
Are introverts more academic than extroverts? Abstract 150 Introversion–extroversion was proposed
by Eysenck as a scale along which each individuals personalities vary, with most people gathering in
the centre of the scale as neither highly introverted or extroverted. As introverts are found to be
more shy than extroverts, and categorized as more likely to be found reading a book than at a party,
the hypothesis that introverts are more intelligent that extroverts was tested. Two questionnaires, one
to assess intelligence and one to assess their introversion–extroversion rating, were given to 60
participants from Nottingham Trent University. The results were found to be not significant,
showing that introversion is not a predictor for academic success. Introduction 270–405 (391)
LaPiere's 1934 study showed that attitudes do not always predict behaviour. LaPiere travelled
America with some of the Chinese population and visited hotels, restaurants, and other service
industries. Of these establishments 91% said that they would not accept Chinese guests, however
only 1 establishment refused them service on their travels. Ajzen (1991) developed a model called
the Theory of Planned Behaviour. He proposed that attitudes are not the only influences on
behavioural intentions. Ajzen's behavioural model identifies subjective norms, which are beliefs of
others, and control beliefs, which are beliefs that are already formed and therefore are the control for
future beliefs. However, one

Argumentative Essay: Is Cheerleading A Sport?
Is cheerleading a sport? This is a common debate between many. Personally, yes Cheerleading is a
sport. According to dictionary.com, "a sport is any activity involving physical exertion and skill in
which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment." Being involved
with the Dyer County High school competitive cheer team, I know cheerleading fits to this
definition. Cheerleading is a sport because it involves rules, physical activity, and teamwork. Like
most sports, cheer has rules. Rules are guidelines one or a team follows in a game. Many rules come
to mind when thinking about this scenario; however, two common cheerleading rules go hand and
hand with football rules. One, you can't step off the mat. A typical ... Show more content on

Soccer is a sport played by many. In soccer there are four main positions on the field. Those
positions are goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. Majority of all goalkeepers rely on
the defenders to do their job, when a defender is slacking a goal could occur. A defender is relying
on the midfield to stop the ball at half field. When a midfielder misses the ball, the role to stop the
ball is then handed to the defenders. Midfielders also have the role of pushing the ball to the
forwards. The forwards can't leave their position to go chase down a ball on the opposing side of the
field. To win in soccer, everybody has to do their job. This is called teamwork. Cheer is much like
the scenario of a sport I just described. In cheer there are also four main positions held. Those
positions are flyer, main boy, back spot, and tumbler. A flyer is relying on the main boy to keep her
in the air and bring her down safely. Not only is a flyer relying on a main base but she is also relying
on the back spot to catch her when things get out of the mainboys control. Now a backspot also has
a job of counting for the mainboy. Another role the backspothas is counting. When the backspot
neglects to count, the stunt will differ from the other groups. This can also cause a change in
formation. Formation is key in a cheer routine. Tumblers are requiring a group to stay in line so they
can execute a skill properly. Much like soccer every

The basic purpose of UCTA 1977 is to restrict the extent to which liability in a contract can be

S.6(2) states that as against a person dealing as consumer, liability for breach of the obligations

conformity of goods with description or sample, or as to their quality or fitness for a particular

Internationally, attrition rates appear to be on the increase. The UK figures of around 15% may
compare favourably with countries such as Italy (65%) and the USA (37%) (International Audit
office, 2007), yet, in the UK, concern remains regarding the number of students who fail to reach
graduation. The personal consequences of attrition for the individual and the professional and
financial consequences for the institution cannot be overstated. Each institution will have its own
figures which, in some cases, will be significantly higher than the average. The expressed level of
concern in the UK may also be related to the apparent lack of consensus over definitive figures. The
Nursing Standard commissioned a survey in 2006 on student nurse attrition which estimates that the
UK average attrition rate is closer to 25% which translates to a cost of £57m for the UK taxpayer
(Buchan and Seccombe, 2006). Whilst there is no direct cost to the UK taxpayers involved in the
recruitment of international nursing students as they are self–funding, the attrition rates are close to
the UK average for this marginal group of students

When I was first introduced to the role of the ODP, in November 2012, I was immediately drawn to
it because of how perfectly it fitted my personality and the position I had found myself in whilst
working for an electrical retailer. I had become frustrated with just how many jobs I was expected to
complete on daily basis, despite it not being part of my job description and ultimately not being my
responsibility; even though I enjoyed doing the tasks and the challenges I was given. The ODP
profession is designed to be multiple roles within one job description primarily focussing on the
patient's current place within their perioperitive journey, for example a 'Scrub ODP' would find
the patient during the 'Surgical Phase' of their journey assisting the surgeon during the operation

refreshing and exciting, I feel it would be very difficult to become complacent in this profession and
would ensure no two days are the same. Given the nature of the profession and how many pieces
would make the puzzle of a patient's preoperative journey, I will be expected to work as part of a

Evaluation And Synopsis Of The Event
Written Evaluation/Synopsis of the Event
Our event was complicated from the beginning; however, our group managed a brand new event for
the Undergraduate Communication Association through the guidance of Jessica Thompson and Josh
Nesselrodt as our clients and the hard work of our team. The event that our group hosted was
Pathfinder, a communication–driven discussion of both academics and career opportunities through
two panels. The event, sponsored by the Pepsi Enhancement fund, despite conquering several great
feats as a new event with high reviews from attendees, a few things did not go as we panned for our
event. However, we would like to discuss various others in which we took much pride.
First, we had originally discussed a later date that gave us some leeway with how we were going to
present marketing materials as well as the social media strategy to promote our event properly.
Pressed for time, we cut our event time by a few weeks. This led to a few issues as we had much to
do in little time. We were able to get flyers out to the campus area as well as promote through our
Facebook event and the University of Maryland's UCA Twitter handle.
Another victory for our group was our attendance. For the timing of the event being on campus on
Friday midday, we were able to pull a small group of an attentive audience. Those that were there
were engaged and in reviews, said they had found the information very useful to their lives perusing
communication. Panelists as well

Apparently, when they saw where the bullet came from, they rushed to check it out and they saw an

Why Cheerleading Should Be Considered A Sport

  • 1. Why Cheerleading Should Be Considered A Sport A cheerleader, by definition, is a person who is a member or of a group who shout out special songs or chants to encourage the team and entertain the crowd during a game. Yet, you see cheerleaders doing more than just standing around and being pretty in movies, television shows, and even their own games. They throw people in the air and catch them, they do flips, jumps. They have their own competitions. But why is it still not considered a sport to many? A sport is defined as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. There are many different national and international associations and organizations that hold their own standard to what can be considered a sport, but they are all similar: if it involves physical activity and competitions. Cheerleading does, in fact, fit underneath ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the leading organizations in the cheer world is Varsity, founded in 1974, dedicated to inspiring and educating cheerleaders worldwide. Varsity sponsors many other well known cheerleading associations, including UCA (as mentioned above), and the National Cheerleaders Association, or the NCA. The American Association for Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators, simply AACCA, is a non–profit educational organization for the cheerleading coaches across the nation. They train coaches and offer guidelines and regulations for squads in an effort to keep them safe. International federations include International Cheer Union, ICU, and the International Federation of Cheerleading, IFC. Both have been recognized as the world's governing body for cheerleading, but every one of these foundations have been at work to promote the development of the sport and the cheerleaders themselves. There are only a handful of professional cheerleading leagues that support ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the perspective of leadership stakeholders, they take a large role in staying actively engaged at every phase so that the organization is permeated with their desire to have a deeply diverse unit that can meet our mission needs. The First Sergeant makes daily rounds throughout the 8 flights to guide Airmen at all levels in understanding the flight path of our diverse organization, answer any questions, and alleviate any concerns. The Senior Enlisted Manager and the Commander also make similar rounds, but on a weekly basis. Their perspective is that this provides ample opportunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can broaden their understanding of their peers' workplace strengths and barriers while allowing them to carry that knowledge back to their own flight for dissemination. Since it will be for just a few days, the impact on manpower will be minimal but the gains in organizational and structural diversity will be immense (BCEE, 2014b, p. 11). Another learning activity that can be done would be to incorporate each section into the orientation program. Currently, members only receive orientation to the base, squadron administrative section, and their section. By starting Airmen off in the unit with a better, more inclusive understanding of the organizational and structural diversity present within the unit, they will be more responsive and adaptive to the needs of their peers. Finally, utilizing a professional survey such as the Stanford Graduate School of Business Leadership in Focus can help to uncover latent biases within the organization (Streeter, 2014, p. 121). This then can be used to create targeted training towards any diversity barriers that may be hidden in addition to the organizational and structural barriers currently present (BCEE, 2014b, p. ... I know that I have not done the best job of keeping up with you since I have left UCA, but your lessons have stayed with me. If anyone taught me that if I put my mind to something and worked hard enough I would succeed it was you. I cannot say, quantify or qualify how much I appreciate you and the effort that you put into teaching me. It means a lot in how you were there for me with a new method in how to fix my counting issues each week. Whether you realized it or not you have taught me that as well. Physical Therapist Future Plan Cathy Stone Mrs.Brown Pre–Ap English March 1, 2018 Future Planning Throughout my life I have always wanted to have an occupation that was in the medical field, but I never could decide what occupation was best for me so I decided to look more into the medical field. I took some personality, interest, skills test and they all came back with a few jobs that I liked but the one who caught my eye the most was Physical Therapist. I started doing research about this career and I knew it was perfect for me. What I Knew For the most part, growing up I was always interested in the human body. University of Central Arkansas is the only school in the state of Arkansas that has the program to becoming a Physical Therapist. Although, it is still in the state of Arkansas it is not close to where I live in Arkansas, it is a two hour drive from my house to UCA. This is a disadvantage to me because I do not want to live on campus at college, I want to go to a college close enough where I can be able to drive there and come back home everyday. My next choice would be to go to Northeastern State University, this college is a little closer, it only takes a hour and a half from my house. These colleges are still far from home and I do not want to go to a college from away from home. When looking at colleges not only do I have to look at the distance but also have to pay attention to the tuition also. My two options for college is UCA or NSU, although they are further away from home than I want, they are the closest colleges that offer Physical Therapist degree. When I told the young girl I was, she awed about wanting to have my leadership skills when she got to be my age. In this moment of chaos at the UCA Cheer Camp, I realized how my leadership skills have grown over the years of being a cheerleader. Every summer, I went to this cheer camp, where cheerleaders are trained to be leaders not just in school spirit, but in our everyday lives. I, too, had the expectation that I was a leader, but never really thought what made me a leader, until the shy cheerleader talked to me. Over my time at the camp, I was learning what qualities make an outstanding leader. I thought that the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those comments made all the girls faces beam with excitement, which made me feel accomplished on the inside. Even when the squads were perfecting every tough stunt given to them, I still would go over and joyfully tell them what a fantastic job they were doing. Finally, my positive attitude at camp made me realize I am a leader, and it's the quality I have grown the most in. Rather than get down and have or speak negative thoughts, I was continually positive at camp, even amongst the burning heat and exhaustion we all faced. During my final time at UCA camp, I really began to realize that a leader isn't somebody who tells their team to go and do something, but somebody who says lets go and does the activity with their team. One tiny cheerleader had the guts to come up to me, a loud and obnoxious senior cheerleader, and say how she wanted to be just like me when she would become a senior, and I was speechless when she did ... A direct result of having a lack of computer access for students results in low grades primarily around the C to D range. The organization, HACA is increasing the amount of opportunities for families to support their students so they will be able to excel in their education and integrate families into the school community. Technology will assist with communication to the families and students from the school campus. • 37. Robotic Male Crabs Many animals exhibit unique mating patterns and over time have evolved species specific traits to grab the attention of potential mates. Sexual Selection allows for individuals who possess certain qualities to produce more offspring than others, resulting in the evolution by means of natural selection of that trait and the diminishing of the traits of the weaker individuals. This allows for greater fitness of an individual which will in turn benefit the species as a whole. Male Fiddle crabs possess one large claw, which has been observed to be used as a weapon and as a signal of courtship (Callander et al. 2013). The second experiment on the other hand did show a female preference to the alternative stimulus waving at a faster rate than the control (Callander et al. 2013). The experimenters in this study found no evidence that female fiddler crabs mate choice is effected by the shape of the male's claw alone (Callander et al. 2013). This experiment did however show evidence that females prefer a mate with a faster courting wave rate, choosing the alternative, faster waving stimulus, over the control, U. mjoebergi claw, in almost every trial (Callander et al. 2013). The results this experiment suggest that claw shape in male fiddle crabs has not evolved due to sexual selection (Callander et al. 2013). Male fiddle crabs do use their claw for male–male combat so it is plausible that claw shape is the outcome of evolution under selection in being the dominant male (Callander et al. ... • 41. The Causes And Consequences Of Grade Inflation Grade inflation has been a widespread issue that has been affecting many institutions. It may be in a way where the instructor raises a students grade by one letter, or by raising a failing grade to a passing grade. Many colleges and universities to this day use the typical letter grading system which is A,B,C,D,F. Some universities, on the other hand feel that this grading system is under estimating students intelligence and abilities. Also, many universities are suffering from the problem of grades that are expanding. Professors and teachers who over evaluate the quality of the student's work or assignment and consequently assign a grade higher than what the student deserves mainly cause the problem. Causes that might cause grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives, target of getting an 'A' grade and avoiding an 'F' and students being in competition with their classmates. One of the causes of grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives or high expectations from parents to their children. Many parents put pressure on their children to get good grades. As a result, the children demand to get A's to meet one of their parents expectations, which is to good a good job. They get motivated to only get the best of grades. This later becomes a students personal motive. The students get motivated by letter grades and believe that an "A" is the only acceptable grade and a doorway to a brighter future. ... Osmoregulation THE OSMOREGULATORY ABILITY IN PHASCOLOSOMA LURCAAND UCA COARCTATA Abstract Phascolosoma lurca (P. lurca) and Uca coarctata (U. coarctata) species and their organs were examined and studied to determine their osmoregulatory ability using the density of extracellular fluid (ECF) as a measure of ionic and osmotic concentration. Body fluids are denser than water which has a specific gravity of 1, plus solutes. Through the examination of the two organisms, P. lurca is an osmoconformer and U. coactarta is an osmoregulator. Introduction Osmoregulation is the physiological process that all organisms of any habitat use to maintain their water balance and internal salt for several different reasons such as, compensating for water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... lurca and U. coarctata The graph shown above indicates that P. lurca follows the same trend as the medium. However, it is also clear that the U. coarctata varies very differently to that of the medium after a specific a gravity of 1/4 for the medium. Discussion The aim of the experiment was to determine whether P. lurca is an osmoconformer and U. coarctata is an osmoregulator with the varying salinity levels within the environment they live and the data achieved proved this hypothesis to be true. The data implies that P. lurca maintains a relatively close ionic concentration to that of it's surrounding environment. This clearly shows that this organism is an osmoconformer. On the other hand, the data also suggests that U. coarctata is an osmoconformer because it's extracellular fluid maintains the same ionic concentration while the environmental concentration changes (Graph 1). It is evident that the organism changes from osmoconforming to osmoregulating due to the concentrations, or it could not handle the low salinity levels within that environment. P. lurca relies on the surrounding environment for its internal ionic concentration. This is because it cannot survive without the external ionic concentration being more or less parallel to the internal ionic

  • 50. Essay On Mutation Spontaneous mutations occur during a normal cell process creating genetic changes (text p.206). There are varying types of spontaneous mutations including, silent, missense, nonsense, and frameshift mutations. How are these mutations the same and how are they different? Silent, missense, and nonsense mutations all occur when base substitutions happen (text p.206). A base substitution is when the wrong nucleotide is incorporated during DNA synthesis, this is the most common mutation (lecture). In a silent mutation a base substitution occurs, incorporating an incorrect nucleotide, the result is a codon that codes for an amino acid that is the same as the wild type (text p. 206). In a missense mutation, the resulting mutant codon does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These mutations are ones that often produce stop codons, putting a halt to the creation of the protein with shortened amino acid sequences. They may also generate proteins that do not function. By simply adding a single nucleotide you alter the coding outcomes of the remaining nucleotides down the sequence. If one were to insert a sequence of three nucleotides, they would be inserting a complete amino acid. Because of this, there is a higher likelihood that the sequence of three nucleotides would simple produce a new amino acid, rather than a stop codon, unless it itself was a stop codon. This creation of a new amino acid to the sequence would elongating the genetic sequence and continue to produce a functioning protein while allowing the remaining gene sequence to remain the same. Example 1.1: Insertion into a reading frame: Reading Frame 1: Wild Type AUG–––UUA–––UCA–––UAU–––AUC–––UAG Met Leu Ser Tyr Ile STOP The above frame demonstrates gene sequence with start and stop codons. Truth is, there are two very different types of cheerleaders. There are the traditional sideline cheerleaders who cheer on other teams for support, and then there are the competitive cheerleaders, who perform in front of audiences and judges to receive their own first place title. Competitive cheerleaders are just as much athletes as cross–country runners or gymnasts! Cheerleading is even expanding and growing into more than just a hobby. Erik Brady agrees when he writes in his article in USA Today, "The world of cheer no longer means sideline squads that exist solely to support other teams" (Brady). Cheerleading has grown extensively in the past twenty years. It now has its own magazines and web forums, such as Fierceboard or Inside Cheerleading. People join All–star cheerleading teams, which are just like travel club soccer or softball teams. The difference is that the hobby of cheerleading isn't getting recognized for the sport that it is. Though it is agreed that sideline cheerleaders are not athletes, organizations and teams can not seem to get competitive cheerleading passed as a sport. In fact, Quinnipiac University was unable to gain their cheerleaders the sport status that they desired. In 1869, the first American football college game took place at Rutgers University against Princeton University in Piscataway, New Jersey. This was where cheerleading initially began. By the 1880s, the students at Princeton formed an all–male student "pep club" to lead chants and yells in order to support their team and create an exciting sports environment. Meanwhile, the sport of Basketball invented in 1891, also grew in popularity and became a major sport where cheerleading also continued to develop and prosper over the next 100 years. For the first 25 years cheer was a "male only" activity. In 1923, the first women cheerleaders were introduced at the University of Minnesota at their sports games. They were only allowed to join because they had very limited options when it came to sports.. They wore ankle–length skirts and varsity sweaters. Female cheer squads included skills such as gymnastics, dance, and stunting in their routines. In the 1930s, cheerleaders used paper poms when cheering. The first vinyl pom–poms were made in 1965. Even though women participated in cheerleading in several parts of the country, it wasn't until the 1940s when the male students left the country to fight in World War II that women became the majority of cheerleading's athletes. • 91. The Empathic Civilization : The Race Essay Next is Jeremy Rifkin's book The Empathic Civilization: The Race to Global Consciousness in a World in Crisis. This book explores the development of empathy from the beginning of studied history to modern time. Rifkin makes predictions about what the world will become as humanity moves towards the Age of Empathy. Rifkin uses many areas of study to prove his point including, but not limited to, psychology, philosophy, biology, anthropology, history, etc. Rifkin stresses the "Age of Faith and Age of Reason" becoming the "Age of Empathy, without, however abandoning the special qualities of the previous worldviews." Therefore when the Age of Empathy arrives, there will still be faith and reason. It is not an all or nothing situation. Rifkin follows the person on their journey of growth, as well as all of humanities growth throughout history. The best way to picture his philosophy and thoughts is with a timeline with 2 segments converging into one main idea which continues. (Figure 2) The ultimate segment is the Age of Empathy, which is what everything was moving forward with pieces of the Age of Faith and Reason tied into it. Rifkin states that humans are "wired of empathy" as social beings which he backs up time and time again with various examples of empathy as well as lack of empathy. Such as, if a child is not nurtured during the developmental years, then they have more sociopathic/ psychopathic tendencies when they age. It is the discovery of this that we realize that ... Abstract 150 Introversion–extroversion was proposed by Eysenck as a scale along which each individuals personalities vary, with most people gathering in the centre of the scale as neither highly introverted or extroverted. As introverts are found to be more shy than extroverts, and categorized as more likely to be found reading a book than at a party, the hypothesis that introverts are more intelligent that extroverts was tested. Two questionnaires, one to assess intelligence and one to assess their introversion–extroversion rating, were given to 60 participants from Nottingham Trent University. The results were found to be not significant, showing that introversion is not a predictor for academic success. Introduction 270–405 (391) LaPiere's 1934 study showed that attitudes do not always predict behaviour. LaPiere travelled America with some of the Chinese population and visited hotels, restaurants, and other service industries. Of these establishments 91% said that they would not accept Chinese guests, however only 1 establishment refused them service on their travels. Ajzen (1991) developed a model called the Theory of Planned Behaviour. He proposed that attitudes are not the only influences on behavioural intentions. Ajzen's behavioural model identifies subjective norms, which are beliefs of others, and control beliefs, which are beliefs that are already formed and therefore are the control for future beliefs. • 115. Argumentative Essay: Is Cheerleading A Sport? Is cheerleading a sport? This is a common debate between many. Personally, yes Cheerleading is a sport. According to dictionary.com, "a sport is any activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment." Being involved with the Dyer County High school competitive cheer team, I know cheerleading fits to this definition. Cheerleading is a sport because it involves rules, physical activity, and teamwork. Like most sports, cheer has rules. Rules are guidelines one or a team follows in a game. Many rules come to mind when thinking about this scenario; however, two common cheerleading rules go hand and hand with football rules. One, you can't step off the mat. A typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Soccer is a sport played by many. In soccer there are four main positions on the field. Those positions are goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. Majority of all goalkeepers rely on the defenders to do their job, when a defender is slacking a goal could occur. A defender is relying on the midfield to stop the ball at half field. When a midfielder misses the ball, the role to stop the ball is then handed to the defenders. Midfielders also have the role of pushing the ball to the forwards. The forwards can't leave their position to go chase down a ball on the opposing side of the field. To win in soccer, everybody has to do their job. This is called teamwork. Cheer is much like the scenario of a sport I just described. In cheer there are also four main positions held. Those positions are flyer, main boy, back spot, and tumbler. A flyer is relying on the main boy to keep her in the air and bring her down safely. Not only is a flyer relying on a main base but she is also relying on the back spot to catch her when things get out of the mainboys control. Now a backspot also has a job of counting for the mainboy. Another role the backspothas is counting. When the backspot neglects to count, the stunt will differ from the other groups. This can also cause a change in formation. Formation is key in a cheer routine. Tumblers are requiring a group to stay in line so they can execute a skill properly. Much like soccer every ... • 123. Attrition In Nurse Education Essay The transfer of Schools of Nursing into the HE sector has been relatively recent in comparison to other healthcare programmes. This has presented the profession with a dilemma of how to attract the candidate who meets the increased academic requirements of university study as well as possessing the other qualities that are expected in the individual who seeks to accelerate their career development in one of the healthcare professions. In order to meet high recruitment target numbers, while adhering to socially inclusive policies, wider entrance criterion have been utilised in many HEIs, allowing individuals with fewer formal qualifications to enter advanced study providing they can evidence of; experience as working as a registered professional within clinical practice; can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Internationally, attrition rates appear to be on the increase. The UK figures of around 15% may compare favourably with countries such as Italy (65%) and the USA (37%) (International Audit office, 2007), yet, in the UK, concern remains regarding the number of students who fail to reach graduation. The personal consequences of attrition for the individual and the professional and financial consequences for the institution cannot be overstated. Each institution will have its own figures which, in some cases, will be significantly higher than the average. The expressed level of concern in the UK may also be related to the apparent lack of consensus over definitive figures. The Nursing Standard commissioned a survey in 2006 on student nurse attrition which estimates that the UK average attrition rate is closer to 25% which translates to a cost of £57m for the UK taxpayer (Buchan and Seccombe, 2006). Whilst there is no direct cost to the UK taxpayers involved in the recruitment of international nursing students as they are self–funding, the attrition rates are close to the UK average for this marginal group of students ... • 127. A Career as an Operating Department Practitioner Essay The ultimate goal for myself, and the initial reason for studying with the Distance Learning Centre, is to become an Operating Department Practitioner(ODP). The role will involve working within operating theatres inside hospitals to support patients throughout their time during certain operations, or 'periopertive journey' (Health Education England, 2014b). I came to the decision to focus on making this my chosen career in November 2012 through word of mouth and a significant amount of research. The profession carries an extensive list of positives and negatives, along with how well it fits my personality and previous experiences; despite never working within the health sector previously. When an ODP job in advertised the prospective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I was first introduced to the role of the ODP, in November 2012, I was immediately drawn to it because of how perfectly it fitted my personality and the position I had found myself in whilst working for an electrical retailer. I had become frustrated with just how many jobs I was expected to complete on daily basis, despite it not being part of my job description and ultimately not being my responsibility; even though I enjoyed doing the tasks and the challenges I was given. The ODP profession is designed to be multiple roles within one job description primarily focussing on the patient's current place within their perioperitive journey, for example a 'Scrub ODP' would find the patient during the 'Surgical Phase' of their journey assisting the surgeon during the operation (Health Education England, 2014b). I find this regular shift in roles and responsibilities to be very refreshing and exciting, I feel it would be very difficult to become complacent in this profession and would ensure no two days are the same. Given the nature of the profession and how many pieces would make the puzzle of a patient's preoperative journey, I will be expected to work as part of a very skilled team, and work with people that I share common interests and goals with; something I would enjoy being part of and would be eager to learn from those ... The school isn't well known and when people drive past they generally assume it's just part of the education buildings next door. This is because the school consists of three trailers and a small building they call the AC, which does not refer to the air conditioning. The AC is the only real building the school has and it has multiple functions. Although its called the Activity Center, it's also where they eat lunch, take gym classes, have assemblies, as well as where they throw dances. However, volleyball is most command and is played inside the AC. Since school doesn't start till 9 am at UCAS and all the students are coming from different places it's normal for the students to be an hour or two early to school. During this time most students do homework at the lunch tables in the AC but, there always seems to be a few people playing volleyball. Although at lunchtime that number is much higher, with more than six people on each side of the net. It looked like a group of peopling moshing at a highschool dance. Everyone is so crowded, but they hardly complain, they are all having so much fun playing volleyball together that they hardly notice. One of the greatest things about this unconventional school is that anyone from any social group could and would join in the game, not because they were good, but because they had fun playing. Before seeing the world of UCAS, I assumed all the students would be geeky boys who were whizzes at math and played video games late into the night. Of course my picture was skewed, I knew only what my cousin Tanner had told me about when he went years prior. He described a common occurrence during lunch, of students playing videogames hooked onto their computer. He'd created an image in my mind of boys who played video games ... Evaluation And Synopsis Of The Event Written Evaluation/Synopsis of the Event Our event was complicated from the beginning; however, our group managed a brand new event for the Undergraduate Communication Association through the guidance of Jessica Thompson and Josh Nesselrodt as our clients and the hard work of our team. The event that our group hosted was Pathfinder, a communication–driven discussion of both academics and career opportunities through two panels. The event, sponsored by the Pepsi Enhancement fund, despite conquering several great feats as a new event with high reviews from attendees, a few things did not go as we panned for our event. However, we would like to discuss various others in which we took much pride. First, we had originally discussed a later date that gave us some leeway with how we were going to present marketing materials as well as the social media strategy to promote our event properly. Pressed for time, we cut our event time by a few weeks. This led to a few issues as we had much to do in little time. We were able to get flyers out to the campus area as well as promote through our Facebook event and the University of Maryland's UCA Twitter handle. Another victory for our group was our attendance. For the timing of the event being on campus on Friday midday, we were able to pull a small group of an attentive audience. Those that were there were engaged and in reviews, said they had found the information very useful to their lives perusing communication. Panelists as well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
