I behave meeting 26th march 2013 v1 juliaLuke Raskino
This document discusses sexual health promotion online. It notes that rates of sexually transmitted infections are rising in the UK and cost the NHS £1 billion annually. While school sex education and parental guidance are often lacking, digital interventions have advantages like privacy, tailoring, and lower costs compared to face-to-face options. Interactive, theory-based websites have shown small improvements in knowledge, confidence, and behaviors. The Sexunzipped website aims to give young people tools to make informed decisions through quizzes, activities, and behavior change techniques grounded in theory. It covers topics like safer sex, relationships, and sexual pleasure.
This document discusses the intersection of mental health and technology. It notes that mental health exists on a continuum and that people with diagnoses are just people. Stigma surrounding mental health comes from problems of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. New technologies like online cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness courses can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while saving money. However, using technology also raises challenges regarding understanding triggers, feeling in control, access, safety, confidentiality, peer support, and addressing inequalities. The document advocates designing technologies to empower users and ensure quality, effectiveness, and cost-efficiency.

However, the project went over budget, had too much initial planning, and faced major data security issues, providing lessons about testing ideas early, avoiding complex data security, and using off-the-shelf software when possible for academic projects.
20130220 mark brown mental health, tech and behaviour changeLuke Raskino
The document discusses the role of technology in mental health and behavior change, arguing that tech should appeal to individuals as consumers rather than trying to "solve" people with mental health difficulties as problems. It emphasizes the importance of understanding what behaviors people with mental health difficulties want to change for their own benefit rather than the benefit of services. The author concludes that tech should focus on providing small solutions to problems identified by people with mental health difficulties through more direct consultation and exploration of their needs and desires.
The document discusses some thoughts for achieving behavior change through technology. It notes that species that survive maximize returns on investment, reinforcement needs to be seen and quick, and people need help setting goals. Behavior change agents need to understand what they are trying to achieve, such as reducing diabetes, obesity, or increasing exercise. They also need to strike a balance between being a helpful friend and a salesperson when encouraging behavior change.
This document discusses obesity challenges in Tower Hamlets, a diverse borough in East London. It notes that over half of children in Tower Hamlets live in poverty, and over half are entitled to free school meals, the highest levels in the country. Obesity levels are high, with over 25% of adults obese and nearly a third of children overweight or obese. Challenges contributing to obesity include high levels of child poverty, lack of access to affordable healthy foods and green spaces, loss of cooking skills, and low physical activity levels. The document outlines services and interventions across the life course aimed at addressing obesity through improving nutrition, physical activity and the local environment.

EclipseCon BPM Day Ludwigsburg - Roundtrip Modelling with Eclipse StardustSopra Steria
With BPM maturing over time new customers buy into BPM or improve their existing infrastructure. These new BPM initiatives aim at raising the abstraction level with end to end modeling capabilities, harvesting SOA investments made in the last years, and take advantage of new BPM engines.
With higher abstraction in place combined with agile methods the development cycles tend to be shorter and the cost for functional units are decreasing.
This leads to a surge in processes to be automated. An increasing number of implemented processes leads to more complexity.
In this presentation you will be shown ways on how to tame the complexity with a development process that includes business architecture, iterative (BPMN2 roundtrip modelling with Runtime Extension developed for Eclipse BPMN2Modeler) process development and deployment based on Eclipse Stardust.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

When a Process Diagram is not Enough…
The Content Module. An innovative automation assistant to produce
standardized project and process documentation.
ActiveModeler Avantage
Managing Enterprise Documentation
Page 1
3. Executive Summary
When a process diagram is necessary to clearly define a process, the use of the BPMN
standard is a “must do” in today’s BPM world. Any other type of flowchart or diagram is
an island with limited ability to add more detailed information (e.g., metrics, SOX etc),
almost no ability to interchange the diagram with other tools (XPDL and future BPMN
2.0 serialization) and has a poor future for integrated process execution.
So after making a standard BPMN diagram what next? If there is a need to make project
or process documentation, a diagram alone is often not enough to fully describe a
process. A rules engine could be used to provide more detail but it’s not easy to convey
such information to process stakeholders. In reality, a CEO or business owner does not
really want to delve into a modeler or rules engine.
In most projects, there is a requirement to make clear and easy-to- understand
documentation such as:
n Project proposal and initiation documents
n Business Requirements
n Specifications
n Sign off documentation
n Development documentation
n Final User Documentation and manuals
There is a requirement for a tool to make this kind of documentation easily with the
ability to include the process related information as well as other related diagrams,
documents etc. and to present in a common format.
This is where the KAISHA-Tec’s new Content Module comes in. It can reduce the time,
cost, and effort needed to create such project documentation and to encourage the use
of standards. Standard business documents can be developed in the ActiveModeler

no copying and pasting of sections between documents. Any part of the process model

To convey information about a process to the business community, there are surprisingly

still many shortcomings which have not been successfully addressed with conventional
approaches. Let’s highlight some of these:
n A diagram is not usually enough. More detailed information is required to enable the
stakeholders to understand the complexities of the process.
Page 3
4. n Stakeholders often do not understand how to read process diagrams, especially if
they are made using a non-standard methodology.
n Conventional ways of making project documentation are difficult to maintain and
time consuming to produce. The involve copy/paste of sections, diagrams and other
information. It is essentially a manual process to produce this documentation.
n If is difficult to enforce standards and to ensure people use the right documents as
templates.
n It is difficult to keep project documentation up to date – for instance if a process
diagram changes, all documents which use this diagram have to be checked and
manually updated.
n Document approval has to be made for the whole document.
The Need for More Visibility and Flexibility
There is a need to be able to associate a full feature set of information with process
details and be able to compose such documentation easily and with automatic updating
of all included content.
Individual sections should be able to be sent for approval without waiting for the whole
document and the complete document should have full version history and easy
retrieval of previous versions.
Introducing the Avantage Content Module
Unlike other products on the market the Content Module is the first of its kind to truly
address the actual process of business process improvement itself. It works by
optimizing the production of documentation and content used during the lifecycle of a
“
business process improvement initiative. It helps to standardize the documentation
process and therefore improves the quality of any output.
We were looking for an Unlike most enterprise content (CMS) and document management systems (DMS),

Some Key Features
Some of the key features of the Content module are:
n Content can be reused through imbedding links, which removes duplication and
allows for content to be updated at its source and this content to be
automatically reflected in any documents to be generated containing the links
Documents can be constructed in minutes using individual document parts
stored in a separate parts library.
n Word documents can be generated from any selected content.
n All Word documents that are generated can use a custom corporate template.
n Sections can be quickly added to documents without the need to reformat the
whole document. You can see the status of each section of your document
through the use of coloured categories e.g. (approved, under review etc).
n Any part of the process model can be included in the Content e.g. diagrams,
tasks, metrics, SOX information, responsibilities etc.
n Process models no longer need to be exported to an image format to include
them in process documentation. Simply add them to the content hierarchy and
they will automatically appear in the exported document.
n Content normally kept outside of the project repository can be managed under
the same folder as your process models, organization and data including
remote data.
n Existing corporate project documents can be imported to create templates in the
Content Module and automatically split into sections for reuse.
n Any language can be used for creating documents. The templates used can also
be customized for any language.
The following diagram shows how a wide range of information can be brought together
as managed content, and subsequently exported to produce project and process
documentation.
